When you turn onto Hazens Notch road, head up about 300 yards. keep an eye out for cars parked along the left hand side on the gravel carveout. You’ll see a “no parking in the street” sign with a dirt path leading up a small hill into the woods. There is a GREAT somewhat secret swimming hole a few minutes walk into the woods. You wont be disappointed!

From 242, there is an entry across the road fro where all the cars are parked (at the crest of the hill between Jay and Montgomery). This takes you all the way up Jay Peak to the "Vermonter" trail.

Lake Willoughby is the crown jewel of lakes in this area. Its just over an hour away but if youre here for a few days during the spring, summer or fall, i highly recommend it. There are kayak rentals nearby. there is a small sandy shore for towels and beach chairs etc.
