Food scene

Put your name in early here! It fills up and has long waits- but it's so great. We like to put our name in and then walk around Blue Ridge for an hour or so while we wait. We love the ribs, the salads and the sandwiches here! Bring a card game from the cabin, order a drink and play while you wait for your food.

Orchards

Ever since 1943 when Bill and Adele Mercier acquired 27 acres of blossoming apple trees, Mercier Orchards has been a beloved destination for people who immediately think of apples when fall rolls around. Four generations later, the orchard still thrives, offering apples, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and more. The orchard has even grown to include a deli, market store, and farm winery—making it a prime location for a day vacation to enjoy autumn’s bounty.

We love the pasta market! They carry a diverse selection of regular and gluten free pastas, sauces, wines, cheeses, and snacks. Their in-store cafe is a great place to stop for lunch. Definitely treat yourself to a charcuterie board or the warm bruschetta.

Hiking

Hike the Benton MacKaye Trail a short half mile, roundtrip, exploring the cascading Fall Branch Falls waterfall and a shady, mossy forest near Blue Ridge. Good for beginners and kids- even if it is mostly uphill. The hike departs a trailhead off the gravel-paved Stanley Creek Road. The trailhead is well-marked with a sign that’s nestled between two lichen-covered boulders. To begin the hike, look for the sign, and the BMT’s signature white diamond-shaped trail blazes.

Buck Bald is great. Several rooms to sit and enjoy their beer and a nice outdoor patio. They have heaters throughout so don’t hesitate to give them a try as the weather gets colder.

Excellent little taproom brewery that’s especially nice for an outdoor day trip. They lean heavy into fall beers with some tasty German beer options. They have all the yard games you’d want, friendly staff, and a modest stage for some small shows in their biergarten outside.
