Restaurants/Dining/Beach bars

Speightstown is a quaint town just north of the property and home to quite a few trendy bars. Local & co is one of my favorites - for decor, food and general ambience. I would range it mid to high end of the budget.

More rustic and authentic Bajan vibe, run/owned by locals, this is another good spot in Speightstown. More affordable food/drink prices compared to some of the other local establishments

Great upbeat atmosphere, most times I've visited there has been Caribbean music oozing through the atmosphere. Fantastic sweet and savory waffle combos if you are looking for a delectable treat. They are also on Facebook and IG, photos much better than mine @wafelhauscafe

Another great beach bar in Speightstown! There are about 6 within walking distance of each other and this is a more laid back one, live music on a Friday, great atmosphere

There is a theme here, I do love a beach bar and this is one of the best reviewed on the west coast. It's about a 20min drive from the property, check it out in google maps!

Neighbourhoods

Head to Holetown for food shopping and more beaches. For food shopping - head to the large Massy supermarket. I would say it's the best place to get all your essentials whilst on the island. As you would have discovered by now - Barbados isn't cheap! Shopping for local products does help - both for fresh and packaged produced. Just a forewarning that Massy can get pretty busy at peak times with both locals and tourists

Attractions/Sightseeing

Hunte's garden has been around for many years and if you are into flora and fauna you will absolutely love this garden that offers a breathtaking variety of plants, trees etc. Carrot cake, rum punch and a chat with the owner can also be enjoyed at the end of your visit

Traveler advice

Getting around

Transportation

There are local buses available which can take you all over the island which are very cheap moreso, compared to Public Transport in for example the UK and US. You can get a bus on the main road, just stick your finger out and it will stop. Lots of visitors use them. Car rental is also an option depending on your budget and desired activities. I do a bit of both as love driving around the island and getting even more familiar
Getting around

Car rental

I use MAH car rentals: mahcarrentals@gmail.com for car rentals. Most affordable prices I've found on the island and professional/reliable
Don't miss

Food Shopping

There is a large Massy supermarket in Holetown and for a smaller number of items/snacks there is a Rubis at the gas station about a 7-10min walk from the property, take a right at the main road or just put it into maps.
