Easy mile or so hike that is flat and goes through butterfly territory. It is buggy and sometimes swampy so stick to the middle road in and out

Nice easy hike — no more than 2 miles that goes through a wetlands area. I like to go to the right and down the large hill rather than go to the left and have to come around and walk up the large hill. It connects to Leon Bay

Great hike (2 miles up) very steep climb with switchbacks but rewarding views on top with great shelter for picnic. Can add on a few more miles at top to see waterfalls but don’t have to

Traveler advice

What to pack

Bugs

We are near the Adirondack park and this part of NY gets very humid and buggy. I have some bug spray in the basket by the door you can use but I would always wear it hiking. Be wary of ticks and make sure to check yourselves if out hiking and shower as quickly as you can. If you find any on you in the house the easiest way to kill them is to flush them in the toilet (gross I know but ticks are bad news and pretty much everywhere in the Northeast).
Customs and culture

Neighbor is retired fire chief

Don’t worry if you see lots of police around— they all know my next door neighbor. They come to visit him a lot. Just know that if they are home they will be very focused on the fire pit. City law says we can only use it to Cook food— not recreational. They will call on you if you are not using it to cook food and I will not pay your fines for misuse. Please only use to cook. Avoid the trouble. Also be aware of high fire danger days (probably unlikely with how humid it is) — because then all fires are banned
