Though you should plan for a full day trip, traveling up the North Umpqua River is a site in itself. Diamond Lake is on the way. FYI many side roads (hiking trails are closed in 2021 due to wildfire clean up)

Traveler advice

Don't miss

Bass fishing by the guesthouse

If you are inclined to fish while you are here during the summer, there are tons of bass. Instead of fishing from the bank, take a kayak up river into deeper water for the best luck. You can even troll for them while you paddle up. Another sweet spot is at the middle of the river where when the water is low enough in summer, you can "park" the kayak and there is a deep swimming hole and spot that bass LOVE!
