Traveler advice

Getting around

Excellent bus system

The bus system is completely free and dependable. It’s a great option especially during high-season when parking is difficult near Main Street. The bus routes are integrated with Google Maps - no need for downloading another app although they do have additional information available on the myStop mobile app.
Customs and culture

Nightly Siren

Lots of locals have their own theories about the nightly siren - from calling miners home from the bars to checking that everyone made it out of the mines alive. In reality, the Bell Tower on Main Street was home to a 1,500-pound bell installed in 1901 by the fire department to alert the town of fires or emergencies. They performed a nightly test at 10PM every night and the modern day electronic siren is a tribute to that piece of the town’s history. The test also doubled as a curfew for the town’s children and was dubbed the “Ten O’Clock Whistle”.
Ways to save

Restaurants off of Main Street are more affordable

There are many great options to eat off Main Street where the prices are a bit lower. Favorites on Main: Yuki Yama (dinner), High West (apre ski/dinner), Harvest (breakfast) Favorites off Main: Five5eeds (brunch), Silver Star Cafe (lunch/dinner), Hana Ramen (lunch/dinner), Offset (brewery - bring your own food)
What to pack

Night time temperatures can dip significantly year round

Bring a light jacket even in the summer as temperatures rarely rise above 85 degree even in the peak of summer and may dip 30 degrees at night.

Ski resorts

Deer Valley is ski only and great for families and for individuals who are still learning to ski. There is also excellent expert terrain. Park City Mountain Resort is massive with tons of challenging and expert terrain. Plenty of beginner and intermediate options as well.
