Forget all the hype about the award winning chippy in Anstruther, Pittenweem’s fish and chip shop is THE best. It’s where all the locals go ;) Prepare for a queue especially at the weekend.

Another absolute gem, this time, walk along the coast the other way. It takes around 20/25 minutes. Incredible seafood (the prawn tempura is seriously tasty!). Only open from Easter until the end of October (and New Year’s Day) - check website for more details. Dog friendly

All based on ingredients from Balcaskie Estate. Very tasty, quite posh food in super stylish surroundings. It's a 17th Century pub & restaurant recently converted so you can go for a pint with the dog or have a lovely Sunday lunch or dinner in the other side of the building. Dog friendly

Our closest supermarket. If you'd like bigger, head to St Andrews: you've got Morrisons, Aldi and M&S to choose from there. Otherwise, head the other way to Leven and you've got Sainsbury's, Lidl & Aldi.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Taxis

A word of warning - taxis are hard to come by in the East Neuk so if you want one, you have to book ahead. We’ve been caught short a few times and had a long walk home (sometimes good fun, sometimes not!). ProTaxis, Kirsty 07932 940942 H&S Cabs: 01333 311111 Val’s Cabs: 01333 730734

Bus Stops

The bus top on this side of the main road will take you along to Elie and the other takes you to Anstruther then onto St Andrews directly or depending on which bus you get, via the coast through Anstruther, Cellardyke, Crail and Kingsbarns.
