Incredible baguettes (fresh at 2pm!) and other baked goods and sandwiches. The BLT and the ham & cheese are my favoite but they're all great, and they do a rotating family dinner for pickup that's lovely. The lines can be long since Amy Schumer put it on her instagram but it's worth it.

Italian sandwiches. They make a ricotta, fig and prosciutto sandwich that’s incredible, but you can’t go wrong there. For a (slightly) less good sandwich locally, Russo's on 7th Ave. is a solid substitute.

$2 with cream cheese, cash only, they refuse to toast them, classic Brooklyn.

The absolute best, worth a short stroll to Carroll Gardens. The Partanna slice is incredible. Frankie’s, an affiliated restaurant next to it, is great for dinner or cocktails. (For pizza closer to home, the grandma slices at Smiling Pizza on the corner are quite good.)

Neighborhoods

I recommend Fort Defiance for brunch, Hometown Barbecue (best for an early dinner, as the lines can get crazy), and Sunny’s bar for live music and great vibes.

Brooklyn Heights is a perfect stroll. It's a longish (40 min) but nice walk from the apartment, or you can take the F to Bergen and take a short walk up Smith or Court Sts and over to the Promenade. If you have time, I recommend walking up the Promenade to Pineapple St and down to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
