A large number of wonderful hikes in the State Park. The Devil's Slide trailhead in Humber Park (0.5mile up Fern Valley Road) is close to the Ernie Maxwell Trailhead. Devil's Slide trail gives access to the Park which has over a hundred miles of hiking trails to explore.
This 2.5 mile moderate trail ascends from Humber Park to Saddle Junction with many switchbacks and far reaching views. Starting at 6,400 ft. the elevation gain is 1,700 ft. From Saddle Junction, a network of trails lead to San Jacinto Peak (10,834 ft.), the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (8,516), and Tahquitz Peak Fire Lookout (8,846 ft.). The Pacific Crest Trail passes through Saddle Junction. This is part of the San Jacinto Wilderness area - from Saddle Junction you can explore around the high mountain plateau, lots of hiking and exploring up there at 8000 feet plus of elevation.
