Food scene

We like Bend Brewing Company mostly for the atmosphere. It’s about a mile walk from the house, some of which is along Mirror Pond. Ask for a view of the pond while you eat and drink. It has a nice outdoor area on the pond. We go here most every time we come to Bend. It has a nice family atmosphere and is a fun gathering spot for those without families.

This is one of Bend’s first breweries and has very good popular beers and good food. The food is better than bar food. It’s a nice place to go for dinner, or go to the bar and just have a drink and eat in the bar. It’s very popular.

Wild Rose is known as the best Thai food in Bend. It’s in downtown Bend as are many of the restaurants I have recommended. I do not believe there is outdoor seating available.

Hiking

There is no shortage of hiking in the Bend area. We have guide books for hiking in the house. Please return them. We love walking or running along the Deschutes River Trails. Fall colors are pretty there. Entry is about 7 miles from the house. Take Century Drive (14th) toward the mountain. It’s the next left after Seventh Mountain resort. There is a brown sign that reads something like River Trail’s. Take a left there. You can park at any of the trailheads. Don’t miss Dillon and Benham Falls. They are toward the end about 4 miles down the road once you have turned off Century Drive.
