Great local pub only a short walk away from the cottage. Make sure to book in peak season. The menu changes daily, using many seasonal ingredients and seafood/fish dishes. Slightly more fancier/expensive than traditional pub food.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Check tide tides

Please check tide times before heading to the marshes, as they there been a number of incidents of people getting stranded and needing rescuing recently.
Don't miss

Crabbing

Great activity for children as well as adults. We have nets, buckets, and lines at the house for guests to use. You can walk down to Stiffkey marshes (at the bottom of Greenway road) and turn right. You can crab from the dykes at high tide. You will also find people crabbing on Wells-next-the-sea quay. TIP - buy bacon and leave outside to go hard as the perfect bait. There is no need to use hooks, instead tie knots in the lines.
Getting around

Coastal bus

A coastal bus service operates from Stiffkey, with a bus stop just outside the cottage. This goes to Wells-next-the-sea and Cromer. This service is called the Coastal Hopper.

Stiffkey play park

There is a small play park in Stiffkey which is off the road and can be accessed by walking on the coastal walk or by walking through the village.
Customs and culture

Cockles

Stiffkey is also famous for its ‘Stewky Blues’ cockles, which are given their blue hue by the mud they live in. You will also find samphire growing here which is a local delicacy in many restaurants.
Don't miss

Local seafood

It’s definitely worth trying the local seafood and fish, such as cockles, crabs and muscles. There is a seafood van on Wells Quay near the car park. Also you may find some places selling seafood on the coastal road if you are taking a trip to Brancaster, however this is seasonal.
Customs and culture

No takeaways

Unfortunately, there are no takeaway delivery services in this area. However, you can book and collect fish and chips from Wells-next-the-sea.
