It's just a free little thing to do that young people enjoy. Some good views.

For biking, walking, or running, this trail is part of a much more extensive system, and is scenic and enjoyable, with refreshments and, often, events along the way including the Farmer's Market in season. It's free! Take a walk!

SURPRISINGLY CLOSE HIKING. For a fifteen minute drive you can find trails and scenery and if you're lucky it will be eagle time. https://www.qctrails.org/trails/trail/black-hawk-state-historic-site-trails There's also the Hauberg Museum (Sauk and Meskwaki tribes) https://www.visitquadcities.com/partners/john-hauberg-indian-museum and The Refectory (Civilian Conservation Corps) https://www.blackhawkpark.org/museum.php and admissions are either free or super-cheap. Just hop on the bridge at the foot of the hill. It's a smaller-scale activity in every sense: doesn't take long to get there, manageable for half a day or as long as you like. Sometimes there are special events

This is a great Irish pub co-owned by friends of mine - their menu is fabulous and very reasonably priced - I especially enjoy their Pub Steak with a bourbon reduction sauce and my son is crazy about the Irish Stew. Yummy. Just placing this guidebook entry makes my mouth water. Check them out on Facebook for daily specials like taco night and wing night. Historical note: I think this place is the second-oldest pub in town - ask the owner for details.

Also known as Davenport Square or "Dav Square" by the locals, this is basic, full-menu family dining with some Greek specialties for extra-yummy varieties. Great for any of the three meals in a day for "daily bread" kind of fare, and the only pancakes in town for this kid. I practically raised my children in this place, and I refer to places like this as "daily bread" restaurants . Good, solid food and generous portions.

My millennial kid from Portland loves this place - great for breakfast or coffee, I know he hangs there for the better part of the day working sometimes and it's welcoming for that. Of COURSE it's great coffee and has an extensive menu. Big ol' wooden booths, open and airy.
