Oradea's Fortress is one of the few bastion forts of Romania and one of the few still in use in the world. This is the place where the history of Oradea can be felt and seen the best. The museum, craftsman's workshop, medieval reenactments, events and restaurants have the power to take you to times long gone.

Bars and Pubs

Lord's is one of the oldest pubs in Oradea. They have a local DJ in the weekend nights. Good atmosphere usually. There's 2-3 others near by so check them all before settling in one of them. Sometimes they ask for an entry fee on weekend nights but if you arrive early you can ask to simply be allowed to stay at the bar for one drink... especially if you plan to do a pub-hopping.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Trams, city buses and taxis

Trams are probably the most convenient way to get around. You can buy a 2-trip ticket for 6 RON or pay with a wireless card or phone 3 RON for one trip inside any tram, at the blue digital box. Taxis have a fare of around 2.7 RON per kilometer. We recommend using the Clever app.
Don't miss

Sunday market "Piata 100"

If you want to feel an interesting local vibe, visit the "Piata 100" market on a Sunday morning. Is is also opened on Saturday but not as busy. You can have street food and drinks while there. Maybe you'll even grab a souvenir.
