From one end of the beach at Whiritoa you can walk 'over the hill' to the hidden gem of Waimama Bay.
From the car park at the northern end of Whiritoa Beach, cross
the lagoon and look for the steps leading up through the bush.
The walking track leads to Waimama Bay and another small cove.
Explore pā sites, rock art, beautiful secluded beaches and rocky
coastal platforms.
Amazing place to take lunch and picnic.

Blowhole - bush walk and sight seeing
Take a short walk at the end of the beach over the hill (the track is on the beach behind the rocks jutting out). Note that this walk is at the opposite end of beach from the shop.
Take a walk through the forest to get to the blowhole. Once you get there look down the massive hole and if the tide is in, you may catch it blowing!

The Store is a Cafe & Restaurant, Dairy with basic food and groceries, Fishing Shop, Wine Shop - everything you need while in the village.
Its located at 4 Fishermans Bend in Whiritoa. You can phone through your takeaway orders (which is highly recommended on busy nights) on 07-865 8094.
Special note: during the height of summer they sometimes run out of takeaway food at night, order early in the day to ensure you get what you want!
