Almost every year between June and September, female Southern Right whales return to the waters of Warrnambool’s Logans Beach to calve. The whales often swim within a hundred metres of the shore. They can be viewed from a specially constructed platform in the sand dunes or from the beach. Typically June-September

If you’re like us and enjoy getting out and walking, then head to the Foreshore Promenade. The Promenade stretches from the Warrnambool Breakwater and Thunder Point all the way to Logans Beach Whale Nursery. At 5.7 kilometres it’s a decent length but there are plenty of places to stop and rest. And you can even grab a coffee and something to eat along the way.

Sound and light show

The new sound and light show combines three great stories. Tales of the Shipwreck Coast takes you on a journey through the ages. From local Aboriginal stories to our colourful whaling past then to events that gave our coastline a reputation that inspired fear and trepidation among mariners.
