Any time of year is a good time to visit Narrabeen Lagoon. This large coastal lagoon is located half way along the Northern Beaches peninsula and is a great place for kids to cycle – whether they are toddlers on training wheels or school-aged kids needing to burn off some energy. My family loves cycling the Narrabeen Lagoon circuit. I love it because it is easy on my knees, it gets the kids out in nature, and you can take it as fast or as slow as you like. The 8.4 km off-road nature trail winds through parklands and lush ecosystems that are home to over 190 bird species, such as egrets and black swans. Strategically placed around the circuit are four picnic grounds, Middle Creek, Jamieson, Berry and Billarong.

Along the path from Manly's main beach is the sheltered and delightful Shelly Beach. It has sand, trees, people and a divine small cove that is magnificent for swimming, snorkeling and diving. There is no major rip here and some may play upon the rocks whilst others traverse the ocean waters to swim from the main beach to this small cove, in what seems to be blissful waters. Past the Manly Lifesaving Club and its iconic clock, down the path entering Cabbage Tree Eco Foreshore Walk is a leisurely 1.3 km. All the time being able to see views across Manly main beach and towards Shelly Beach, with spots to sit on the rocks and around the ocean pool.
