Beautiful lake with fabulous views of Mount Hood (on a clear day). Photo opportunities galore. Popular for fishing, picnicking, boating, swimming, hiking, nature watching. There is a 2 mile walk around the lake. When we were there, some of the boardwalks were closed for repair. However, it was possible to complete the walk by detouring through the forest, where a trail was evident from worn or notched logs. We saw a Bald Eagle circling overhead and a beaver lodge. There were lots of fishermen/women on the banks and in small self-propelled boats on the lake. We watched as two of them caught huge rainbow trout, about 2 feet long.

Food scene

Local eatery/tavern. Wraps, burger, fries, etc. Local brews, decent coffee. I am allergic to gluten so there is not much I can eat here except the corn tortillas, but they are pretty good and very cheap so I have been happy to come back a couple of times. Laid-back causal place, nice outside area with picnic tables, grass, cornholes, and horseshoe games.
