My Favorite Neighborhood Spots

These are all my favorite places within walking distance.
Nowadays is an outdoor and indoor gathering place a 3 minute walk down the street. They offer up great food and drinks at reasonable prices alongside frequent cultural programming. Their Sunday afternoon parties "Mister Sunday" are world renown. They're located at 56-06 Cooper Avenue, near Wyckoff. GOOD THINGS TO KNOW It’s always free to hang in the backyard, but they do charge a cover for some of their events. There’s a cover indoors after 7pm on Thursday, after 10pm on Friday and Saturday and after 3pm on Sunday. Most of the time, free or discounted entry is available at https://nowadays.nyc/rsvp-form/ The kitchen closes at 11pm.

Neapolitan style brick oven pizza. "Located in an industrial stretch of Ridgewood, this inventive pizzeria pulls off a number of tricks with carefully curated ingredients. Taking residence in a repurposed brewery built in the late 1800s, the red brick structure sits near the borough’s massive cemeteries where this establishment’s namesake has been laid to rest. While the “lab" isn't large, it feels cavernous nonetheless, thanks to high ceilings, sparse digs that include a sprinkling of tables with views of the cement dome oven and an ample covered terrace. Tuck in to salads, homemade pastas and burrata, as well as wood-fired pies that include the Guido BK which celebrates the bitter beauty of broccoli rabe and shares its charred crust with red wine-cured sausage and mozzarella."
