Food Scene

Our favorite place to eat out in McKenzie Bridge. Yes, your options are limited, but that is ok since we have the General Store. Great food, great beer selection, awesome outdoor seating, indoor seating.. We highly recommend planning to have at least one dinner here while staying at the O'Leary House. Dogs are even welcome! And music on Saturday nights is pretty awesome too. They also have a small food store, so you can stock up on eggs, milk, rice and other stuff that you might have forgotten or need more of.

Great pizza, large beer selection. The staff are super friendly and the food is good! They have a small gift store upstairs that is worth checking out as well.

Entertainment & Activities

Horse Creek is your one-stop shop (and across the street from the O'Leary House) for mountain bike shuttles & bike rentals and white water raft trips. They shuttle the McKenzie River Trail and O'Leary Trail. The best is that you can ride over to grab a ride, then ride right back to the house! They are also the only company that offers wetsuits to all guests for white water rafting. The McKenzie is a cold river, trust us, you will be happy to have a wetsuit even on a hot day! We highly recommend using Horse Creek for shuttles and rafting trips!

Going to the hot spring pool at Belknap is a great activity. You pay a small fee to soak for an hour. Bring your own towels and leave all your possessions in your car. Once you are done, cross the bridge behind the pool and wander the beautiful gardens.

Beautiful location! Rent a rowboat, hike or just picnic along the lake enjoying the views. This is our favorite place to stand up paddle board in the summer (rent SUPs from Horse Creek Lodge).

Sightseeing

Sahalie Falls is stunning. It is a must see. You can also do a great hike from the parking area that takes in more waterfalls and a beautiful walk along the McKenzie River. The hike is not flat, so its best to not do it in flip flops.

Driving Hwy 242 to or from Sisters to McKenzie Bridge is a beautiful, scenic drive. At the top is the Dee Wright Observatory, worthy of a stop to look at the Cascade Mountains laid out in front of you. We won't spoil the details, but the observatory is an interesting building and worth checking out! It's also a great place to look at stars at night.
