The canal has a wide, flat, well maintained gravel road (not accessible to cars) going along side it. It's just 0.8 miles from our house and you can follow it east or west for miles. It goes all the way to Howard Prairie Lake if you are inclined to travel 35-miles. Or you can just go a few miles and enjoy the changes in terrain from alpine woods to lava rock prairies. Great views of Mount Shasta and the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Easy on the quads for those of us that like hiking but aren't fans of hills...

This is the 'put-in' spot for rafting down the Upper Klamath River. Some of the best White Water in Oregon, and possibly the entire West Coast. Just 30-minutes drive from our house. The 'take-out' spot is Copco Lake, just over the border in California. If you plan on going rafting down the river you'll need a shuttle, or take two cars and park one at Copco Lake Store and the other at the 'put-in' near John Boyle Power House. Beautiful, unspoiled river canyon with Class IV rapids.

You can hike all the way around this beautiful alpine lake and the trail is well-kept and will easily take a stroller (except for about 100ft which is over some big pebbles and the end of the lake, but still do-able and worth it!).
