The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living room: This bright and airy space is full of character and charm, including a bay window, wooden flooring, an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and vintage and antique tables, all complemented by wonderful artwork. From here, the garden continues through a gap in the stone wall to another well-maintained area which is bordered by flowers, grasses and a variety of fruit trees. Free on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage and throughout the hamlet.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Check-in was a breeze – Kevin met us promptly and was very helpful and friendly in showing us round. The cottage is close enough to supermarkets to buy supplies (10-15min from many major brands) yet equally set in the countryside to escape from everything. It was perfectly clean and had everything you could possibly need. Internet was great too for film nights and booking your tickets...but you’d hardly need it beyond that because of the beautiful scenery. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

  • What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage. We enjoyed the proximity toTetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel !Thankyou!

  • We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat. It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hoar frosts on the 2 days we were there.

  • Pear Tree Cottage gives you everything you need for a perfect Cotswolds stay. For our winter stay it was cosy & utterly charming. A really delightful place.

  • A fantastic cottage in a lovely little village. We were welcomed at the cottage by Kevin who showed us around and let us know he was available should we need any help at all. There is a lovely log burning fire with enough wood supplied to use for one night, we bought more wood from a supermarket ten minutes drive away.

  • What a wonderful little cottage in the cotswolds. Perfect location for exploring the rest of the area. Lovely clean and cosy cottage with a wonderful fire for the evenings. Would highly recommend

  • A fantastic home away from home in a quiet village just outside Tetbury. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped - we couldn’t have asked for any more. We will definitely return for more cosy nights in front of the fire!

Welcome to Butterrow Gate, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Butterrow Gate is a distinctive, beautifully renovated Grade II listed property which sits proudly on Butterrow Hill on the outskirts of the market town of Stroud. Located in the heart of the stunning "Five Valleys" region of the Cotswolds, Stroud is well known for its bohemian vibe and eclectic mix of shops, with Jasper Conran describing the weekly Farmers' Market held in the town as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". The Five Valleys converge on Stroud and contain some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. Butterrow Gate is also well placed for exploring further afield, with the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham both within easy reach. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The green front door opens into an entrance hall which houses the washing machine/tumble dryer, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: Laid with beautiful flagstone flooring, this uniquely shaped room features original Cotswold stone walls, pretty stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. Tastefully decorated, this room contains a sofa, a footstool and an armchair, along with a Freesat TV with DVD player and a small dining table with drop down leaves which comfortably seats two; Kitchen: This compact yet well-equipped space contains an electric oven with four ring-induction hob, a dishwasher, Morphy Richards coffee machine, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a kettle and toaster; Family bathroom: Located off the entrance hall, this room contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living area directly into the characterful bedroom: Master bedroom: With original Elm floorboards dating back to 1825, and exposed Cotswold stone walls, this bedroom has a romantic ambience and stunning views from the stone mullion windows over the pretty market town of Stroud and the surrounding valley. There is a pretty wrought iron double bed and two occasional chairs, as well an ornamental stone fireplace and a double wardrobe. The stable door from the bedroom opens onto the outside patio area decorated with pretty pots and featuring the walk-on glass area directly above the kitchen. Three steps lead up to a larger patio area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the market town of Stroud. This private, sunny space has an outdoor table, two chairs and a wooden bench, perfect for relaxing on warm summer days. A charcoal barbecue is provided from April to September, and there is a chiminea for cooler evenings. The outside space can also be accessed via a right of way through the neighbour’s garden and on street parking is available close to the property.
Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.
  • Full of character, had everything we needed.

    Jessica2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great, special and quirky space. Amenities were great and the place was sparkling clean, would definitely recommend and stay again. I imagine it would be spectacular in the summer. Jut watch out for stepping right onto quite a busy road where traffic comes roaring past. Parking was also tricky.

    Lou2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Property was lovely and perfect for a few days away. Tip: don't park opposite the property as you will get a note from one of the neighbours, also take your own milk as this isn't provided. Great stay and great location.

    Joanne2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated, great homely feel and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

    Anna2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage and it’s more beautiful in real life with an amazing view. Would definitely recommend and return. Not much off street parking but we didn’t mind parking down the hill and walking up. Worth a visit for sure!

    Eleanor2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful winter break at Butterrow gate. The property is gorgeous, very quirky and has everything you need. It is also clean and well presented. The location is great for exploring Stroud and other local villages. The tips provided by the host were perfect. We loved the farmer’s market, the antiques mill and local walks. It is worth noting that the property is on a busy road and you may be kept awake by traffic if you are a light sleeper. We slept like logs from all of the walking! Xx

    Lucy2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage for a week while exploring the Cotswolds. It was such a lovely place to stay. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures small and super cozy and wonderful. We had a really good time. The place was in a good location if you had a car to explore all the surrounding towns. Without a car the cottage it a little but above the town and therefore is a bit less accessible. Contact with character cottages was easy, check in and out was no issue. The only negative feedback is that the place was a little low on essentials. When we arrived there wasn’t any coffee for the coffee machine and there were no other supplies for cooking other than olive oil. However the kitchen is very sweet and easy to use for home cooked meals. We also weren’t informed beforehand that the washer and dryer machine didn’t work and didn’t find this out till arriving, I thought this would have been great to be told earlier in order to organise our washing. Otherwise the place was the picture perfect cottage and we would definitely stay there again. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone considering it.

A little further, Tetbury has some wonderful antique shops and delicatessens to browse and the famous Highgrove Shop, which is well worth a visit. Within ten miles is the market town of Cirencester, which is at the heart of the Cotswolds and there are many shops and an interesting Roman museum. For water sports, one can enjoy an abundance of activities such as sailing, jet ski, kite surfing and fishing around the many lakes of the Cotswold Water Parks, a few miles away.
  • Sweet little cottage in the countryside. Rowena is a great hostess -- quick to reply to any messages and full of advice and suggestions for things to do. There are good pubs within walking distance. Having a car is definitely a plus if you want to do much exploring in the area beyond the immediate fields, though, we managed without one. While most of our walks were cut short by flooded fields, it was nice to explore the area and great to come back to the cottage to warm up with tea, brownies, and a good foot soak.

  • Great place to stay ☺️

    Anthony2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful visit! The cottage was well appointed and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Rowena was a very pleasant and helpful host. The local area is quiet and beautiful but not too far away from amenities. This was a perfect, quiet, relaxing and comfortable stay and is highly recommended for those wanting a ‘getaway’ from the big cities.

    Ian2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely couple of nights stay that we had at Rowena’s place. The cottage was lovely and very cosy. Everyone on the estate was very friendly and we couldn’t ask for a better time!

  • Lovely place to retreat to. Friendly welcome and beautiful space.

    Sarah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We can highly recommend this place. Everything was perfect. We stayed there in December : The property was lovely and warm and I loved the fact that there was a bath with plenty of hot water: Great for after going on a hike across the fields. The homemade brownies were scrummy. The lodge is sparkling clean. As I have said, just perfect.

Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. The stunning restaurant accommodates parties of up to 85 people seated and has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto Minchinhampton Common. Minchinhampton also has an excellent butcher's shop and an organic cheese shop: L Taylor & Sons (www.taylorsminchinhampton.com): For nearly a century L Taylor and Sons has been supplying the highest quality meat to discerning customers. The quality of the shop has been recognised with a Cotswold Life Butcher of the year award; Woefuldane Organic Dairy (www.woefuldanedairy.co.uk): All the products are made by hand in the farm dairy in time honoured ways. The unpasteurised cheeses change throughout the seasons as the milk varies depending on what the cows are eating.

  • Had a lovely stay in Little Culver. All was as advertised - plenty of space for 5 people, very comfortable and stylish. Loved the original features of the house. Thoughtful touches like chocolates and biscuits on arrival were appreciated and the key safe made our arrival stress-free as travelling from London. Would definitely stay again if travelling to the Cotswolds.

  • The perfect pad to explore the Cotswolds, set in a cute little village. Loved the treats and the garden was so beautiful to sit in and enjoy the rest of the British summer.

    Leo2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house In the quiet quintessential English village of Minchinhampton. We rocked up with 5 people and found there to be plenty of room for everyone. The Garden was well kept and a really chilled out place to hangout in the sunshine. No negative comments here! The one thing I would say is to bring cash with you because many of the local establishments don’t take cards.

  • Photos don't do the cottage justice, it's much prettier and immaculate. Linda is very thoughtful and kept in good contact to help us check in seamlessly even though we were delayed. The continental breakfast was a much beyond what we expected and was delicious with fresh local food. The location is fabulous with Westonbirt arboretum around the corner and lovely pubs nearby. Thanks Linda for the local tips as well. It was really helpful and inviting. We'd definitely visit again, a lovely romantic corner to tuck yourself away.

Fancy living like a hobbit in Hobbiton on a hobbity hill? Or perhaps you’d like to feel like Gulliver in Lilliput for the time of a weekend? The Little House on Gumstool Hill is as cosy as it gets. Sitting on the popular Gumstool Hill in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Folly (the cottage) is only a stone’s throw away from the centre of Tetbury. There are lovely walks just outside the cottage along the small river, and all the services are extremely close.
***Only available to key workers at the moment***Discounts available, message first. The cottage features lovely Cotswold stone and roof tiles. It is very small, but comfortable. A paddle space saving staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom. It comprises of a king size bed, a high pile rug (snug for your toes) and two bedside tables (nothing else will fit!). You can have your breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper in the kitchenette. Or alternatively you can nip into the local bakery and iconic pubs only a tiny stroll away. The kitchenette has two portable electric hobs, a microwave oven, a kettle, a toaster, a small fridge and all the necessary kitchenware and cutlery. We supply tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil and salt and pepper.
Tetbury has won numerous awards, earning the accolade "Heart of England in Bloom" and "Best Small Town." It was founded as an ancient hill fort, and on the same site was later built a Saxon monastery in 681, most likely by Ine of Wessex. Today, Tetbury is known as a small hidden gem of an English town, praised for its charming cottages and ivy-clad buildings and cottages, abundance of flowers and greenery, history, wool, antique shops, and historic buildings. Being in the Cotswolds, a number of lovely and popular walks are available to you, as well as the myriad of cute and iconic villages.
  • Took a 2 night stay here by myself to get out of London for a bit. I cycled from Kemble station to Gumstool Hill and it is just as cute as described/photographed. Perfect location in Tetbury and lots of lovely places to explore. Small but perfectly contained and everything I needed. Yoann responded to messages so quickly and was very helpful. Would definitely go back!

  • "Compact" but I had everything I wanted. The weather was very wet (not my host's fault), so I really appreciated having a clean, warm and dry base. Thanks.

  • Such a treat! A great place to get a peaceful rest and break from city life. Had everything I needed in the room, just needed myself and food to complete my perfect stay. It is very remote which is exactly what I was looking for but would suggest planning your travel very carefully if you aren’t.

  • Clint's place was a lovely hideaway in the midst of the beautiful Cotswolds. It was clean and cosy with all the necessary amenities for two. It was lovely.

  • Up there with my favourite ever air b&b stays!! The cabin is lovely and Clint was the perfect host I highly recommend

    Mark2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at this cute cabin! Bit adventurous in winter perhaps, but the electric fire provided warmed the room up very quickly. The countryside location, garden outlook. easy parking and privacy (no overlooking properties) all contributed to a great stay. Nice pub on your doorstep too and local people very friendly and welcoming. For an alternative, comfortable Airbnb stay in a typical English village, I happily recommend you stay here. (Perhaps a quick mention that the bathroom isn't heated and the entrance is external to the bedroom so you need to step out a few steps to the side across the decking to access)

Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Grange Cottage is a large semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage, which sits on a steep slope at the top of a rural lane, and benefits from stunning views. The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first-floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with high ceilings and exposed oak beams, which contains a king size bed and fitted wardrobe, and has nice views of the woodland behind the cottage; Bedroom 2; This bright room enjoys a sunny aspect, with views across to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, and contains a large single bed; Bedroom 3: Contains a day bed, which is made up as a single bed. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
  • The cottage was very comfortable and cosy with everything we needed for a lovely weekend break.

    Fiona2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

Our lovely cottage is in the centre of the rural historic town of Dursley. The Cotswold Way passes through making it the ideal rest-stop. Dursley is also ideally located for commuting to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol and Stroud. Our guest room is a cosy double bedroom within our two-bedroomed house, with views over the garden and the chickens - which give fresh eggs daily! We are LGBT friendly.
The double bedroom is small but warm and cosy. Guests are welcome to make use of the bathroom, kitchen and living room, which is prefect to unwind in after a busy day!
We love living in Dursley! The cottage is in the centre of the town although feels like it's in the middle of the countryside! There are great independent restaurants, shops and plenty of walks to keep you busy. Dursley sits within easy reach of Gloucester, Bristol, Stroud and the charming Cotswolds which makes it the ideal place to stay.
  • Fresh eggs for breakfast and a solid nights sleep! Super friendly hosts too 😊

  • Very nice and clean place to stay, with kind and supportive people. Stuart and Ashley are true superhosts.

    Juraj2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart's place is a hidden gem - if you want to visit Dursley and be within walking distance of the town centre you could not do better. They have managed to make their tiny cottage accommodate a guest and provide all the usual BnB amenities like a Tardis. All communication was very prompt and comprehensively explained how to get there, park and what to expect. I would not hesitate to return again if I need to stay in the area.

  • In a great position right in the centre but still very quiet. Stuart is very welcoming and provide a good breakfast including super fresh eggs! Brilliant value. Only one thing worth mentioning. If you're very short, you may have trouble reaching the box where the key is kept. My wife (height 5ft 1in), for example, couldn't reach it.

Wonderful modern semi detached house situated in the beautiful village of Tetbury within the Costwolds. It is within a few minutes walk of the town square, shops, antiques, restaurants and pubs. We're right in the middle of the Cotswolds so the main towns and villages are all within a 20-40 min drive. Main attractions in Tetbury: -The Royal Gardens at Highgrove -Westonbirt Arboretum -Clavenage House
The house has just been freshed up with new painting, flooring and furniture. The kitchen / dining area is fitted with new dishwasher, full size oven, fridge, Fred, hob and grill. There is one bedroom with a brand new single bed that can be converted to a double and another bedroom with a normal single bed (also new). There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and sink. Toilet downstairs. Very cosy living room and very light and welcoming conservatory that opens up to a garden.
The town of Tetbury is in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds and is proud of its 1300 years of recorded history since 681 when Tetta's Monastery was mentioned in a charter by King Ethelred of Mercia. In the Middle Ages, Tetbury was an important market town for the Cotswolds wool trade and the town centre is still dominated by the splendid pillared Market House built in 1655. The town is known as an 'architectural gem' as many of the wool merchants houses still look as they did 300 years ago. Tetbury is well known for its 25 antique shops and its close proximity to Prince Charles's residence of Highgrove. The town has a wonderful variety of shops including many specialist shops offering a wide choice. Many of the shops are individually owned where you will receive personal attention of the owner and experience a level of service long since vanished from many high streets. Several of Tetbury's retailers have received national awards for excellence and the visitor will notice that many of the towns businesses bear the Prince of Wales feathers as a sign that they hold the Royal Warrant. The market town of Tetbury has a wide choice of tea shops, bistros, cafes, pubs and restaurants which offer a good choice of food and drink. Some of our favourite pubs are the Royal Oak, Snooty Fox or Priory Inn.

  • Cristina and Greg are super super hosts in our book!! Their home is exactly as pictured---immaculate, cozy, inviting and located in a picture perfect Cotswolds village walking distance to the high street. They were very accommodating, checking in / out was most convenient and they went out of their way to provide us with tips for local areas of interest that were on our "must see" list as well as some new ones to discover. We could not have asked for better and would definitely stay with them again!!

The room is detached from the house which is a 1940's semi-detached property on an older estate situated between a red brick school and park. The back of the property borders fields with an outlook onto the woodlands. These woods have many walks and run for miles around Dursley and along to the next village.
  • A great value for money accommodation that is a short walk into Dursley. Margi made the process easy and straightforward. We will definitely use her again in the future.

  • How understated, described correctly as a room in the garden, however it felt much more than that. Very comfortable bed, nice thick towels, warm (I actually turned the heating off in February) and cosy. Shower room was spacious and spotless and although no kitchen as such, with a fridge, microwave and kettle you don’t really need much else. I would recommend and I will be back!

  • Great stay. Everything went smoothly.

  • Having stayed with Margo in her garden room, we wouldn't now wish to go anywhere else in Dursley.

Walkley Wood Cottage is a charming Grade II listed Bath stone property set over 4 floors. With 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, the cottage sleeps 4 (3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children is the most comfortable configuration). Enjoying a peaceful elevated position, Walkley Wood boasts beautiful views of the surrounding valley and neighbouring Cotswold stone properties. The cottage welcomes two, well-behaved dogs*.
*Dogs: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30 per dog. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog(s) and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction As you approach Walkley Wood Cottage through the winding lanes of Nailsworth, you will notice how the town and surrounding properties are almost hidden by the secluded woodland valley to the east of Stroud. Proudly perched on the side of sleepy Shortwood Road is Walkley Wood Cottage, a distinguished 19th century property with rustic golden stone that immediately casts a warm and welcoming aura. Ideally situated, this cottage is the perfect base for exploring the tranquillity of the surrounding Stroud Valleys and the wider Cotswolds, while guests are also in easy walking distance of the cheerfully eclectic town of Nailsworth. If you’re looking for somewhere to totally relax and unwind, then Walkley Wood is the perfect Cotswold home for you. As you approach the cottage through the cast iron gate and down the stone steps, you will notice a small outdoor table and chairs set down from the lane behind the dry-stone wall. Guests are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the warmth of the summer months in this compact but delightful sun trap. You may find yourself admiring the beautiful architecture and delicate Georgian windows, this cottage was, after all, built in 1852. Although the exact history of the cottage remains largely a mystery, it has been suggested that the building may have been used as a pub many years ago, which could explain the origins of the kitchen skylight. Either way, it’s nice to consider that many happy memories have been created within these historic walls! Inside, Walkley Wood really is the perfect holiday home. Devoid of fussiness and frill, Karen has struck the perfect balance between homely-cosy comfort and refreshing simplicity. Each floor is brought to life by a sprinkling of quirky vintage features, while guests can simultaneously enjoy a bright and Scandinavian-inspired minimalist feel. The living room is the real heart of the property. A log-burning stove immediately creates a wonderful cosy atmosphere, with soft blankets and cushions scattered over furniture to help guests make themselves feel at home. Just a short walk away is the artistic town of Nailsworth, a gem in the heart of the Cotswold valleys. A largely overlooked town, Nailsworth has a fantastic and unspoiled selection of boutiques, bars, pubs and cafes, and really does offer some of the best food for miles around. You will find the hair dryer in a top drawer of the chest. A curtained-off hanging area makes for a unique open-plan wardrobe, ensuring there’s enough space for you to unpack and relax, while the room retains a lovely snug feel. Outside Walkley Wood Cottage enjoys use of the small gravel/paved courtyard at the front of the house. There is a small patio table and two chairs that guests may use for breakfast, lunch or an evening glass of wine if they wish! If you are looking to stretch your legs further, there are plenty of beautiful walks and open fields surrounding Walkley Wood Cottage, just see ‘Walks’ in the Guidebook.

  • The cottage was perfect for our needs, comfortable and cosy when we got the fire going and located perfectly so that we could walk from the door. The town is great too with everything we needed on the doorstep.

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jodie and Glenn's place! Particular highlights were the fire place, the well equipped kitchen and the top floor bedroom with great natural light. The whole cottage is very charming, but mind your head if you are on the taller side! There's lots of nice countryside walks that you can do starting from the door - no need to drive far away. Jodie and Glenn give great information and resources on what you can do in the area, which we really appreciated.

    Matic2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a great location to explore Tetbury. We had a really peaceful and relaxing time and were happy just to chill out and enjoy the lovely facilities in the cottage. Some great dog walks and pub lunches with evenings in front of the open fire. All communications with the hosts was spot on and very clear. Highly recommended.

    Annette2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect Airbnb cottage - attention to detail is second to none, it has everything you could possibly need with extra thoughtful touches, and is in an idyllic location to be able to explore beautiful Tetbury from your doorstep. Jodie and Glenn have done an incredible job with the space, and the experience is all you could want and more from an Airbnb. Thank you so much, and we definitely hope to return soon! :)

  • An idyllic cottage in the Cotswolds, great location within walking distance of pubs and restaurants in Tetbury. A cosy log fire great for those winter evenings. Would 100% recommend staying here.

    Aimee2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage, nice and clean, which has all you need, with an open fire and within walking distance to the high street which has a couple hotels, a pub and a few restaurants. There is a car park a few minutes walk from the cottage which is a pay display and is free from 3pm but from 8am until then it is relatively inexpensive. We went to the Close Hotel and The Ormond for a meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We also managed to find another venue which is less than 10mins drive away - The Gumstool Inn which is part of the Calcot Hotel and Spa, where the food was delicious and which we highly recommend. While we were staying in Tetbury we also went exploring in Stroud, Nailsworth, Painswick and Cirencester as well as to Winchcombe where we visited Sudeley Castle. My husband and I had a great couple of days away in The Cotswolds and would highly recommend Jodie and Glenn’s place.

We live in a lovely timber clad house set in a 3/4 acre walled garden in a beautiful rolling valley running between Nailsworth and Stroud- both great towns to explore with an award winning Farmers market, local brewery (with pizza oven), great arts, pubs, music scene and lots of independant shops and cafe’s. We have direct access to footpaths through a nature reserve behind the house (endangered bush crickets!) up to Amberley village and beautiful Minchinhampton Common with its free ranging cows and ponies, ice cream factory, visiting circus, pubs, golf course, great views and kite flying. Or use the footpath down to the Nailsworth/Stroud cycle path, which in turn leads into the lovely canal tow paths. • Great place to stay. Lovely little touches in the studio. Excellent location for exploring the local area with good pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

  • Had a lovely stay here in this cosy, comfortable space. The location is stunning also. The bed was really comfy and we loved the gorgeous chesterfield sofa! I will say that it is worth taking a shower cap if you have long hair and won’t be washing it every time you shower. The shower is an exceptionally powerful monsoon type and it was tough to keep my hair dry! We were out for most of our stay so never met the hosts, but Tom was always on hand via text - I asked to borrow the iron and it was in the room by the time we’d returned from our walk. The breakfast touches were delicious and having a mini fridge was very useful. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return! Thank you.

  • Not a single negative point to make from our 3 night stay. The accommodation is larger than it looks in the pictures, but remains a cosy hideaway for chilly evenings. It's full of interesting bits n bobs whilst the bathroom is more than adequate inclusive of a powerful shower. Comfy bed, comfy sofa, comfy table and chairs at which to eat your provided breakfast whilst watching the birds at the feeder opposite. The hosts provided tips about the area which we utilised, however there is so much within walking, hiking, or short driving distance we were spoilt for choice. Loved it.

Welcome to our cosy cottage in the Cotswolds. The cottage was built in the 1820’s so its traditional and full of character with all the modern amenities. It has 2 bedrooms, a modern kitchen with a dishwasher, power shower, central heating and a traditional open fire. The cottage is situated 10 metres from the local pub and local shop. There is a private front garden to enjoy with a BBQ. Location wise it is a 35 minute drive into Bath & Bristol. Castle Coombe is a 15 minute drive.
Luckington is a village and civil parish in the southern Cotswolds, in north-west Wiltshire, England, about 6 1⁄2 miles (10 km) west of Malmesbury. The village is on the B4040 road linking Malmesbury and Old Sodbury. The parish is on the county border with Gloucestershire and includes the village of Alderton and the hamlet of Brook End. The Cotswolds are designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which means it is recognised as containing some of Britain's finest countryside. As such it is protected as a special landscape of national importance. The area covers 790 square miles, of which some 80% is farmland. The region is delineated by the belt of rich limestone – the source of building materials for cottages, fine buildings and churches. The limestone Cotswold stone in the northern Cotswolds is a rich honey coloured brown which gradually grades creamier towards the south at Luckington. Badminton House is just across the county border, about 1 3⁄4 miles (2.8 km) southwest of Luckington village. Parkland of the Badminton estate extends a short distance into Luckington parish
make sure you check out the pub! great food and drink! you can also get your food to go!
  • We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely look to return. Easy check in process and the location is ideal. The cottage is seconds away from the local pub just across the road and on the first night after arriving we ate there. It was easy to park near the Airbnb and to drive to nearby areas such as Castle Combe and Cirencester for days out. Also easy to get to the arboretum at Westonbirt . There are lots of local walks in the area (bring adequate walking shoes or wellies in the wetter months!). There were tea and coffee facilities in the cottage and the central heating was easy to control. There is also a stunning fireplace and great to use on a stormy night. The kitchen was well equipped and included a dishwasher, oven and microwave. Tip if you’re over 6ft tall - watch your head as you go from the living room into the hallway! Thank you for a great stay :)

  • Clint's cottage was a perfect escapade from the city. It had everything you could want - fully equipped kitchen, fireplace which made staying in on the evenings perfect and the place itself was very stylish and comfortable. The cottage itself was in a cute little village, close to a pub so if you wanted to grab a drink in the evening without driving anywhere (less than a minute walk away), it was perfect. It was conveniently located near countryside walks and Castle Combe (about 15 minute drive away). We couldn't find a shop nearby but that wasn't a problem as we brought everything with us that we needed. Clint was very kind and hospitable, flexible and responded very quickly to all messages. Thank you so much for everything!

  • Another great stay in Shipton Moyne. A brilliant base to go and explore from, or just stay local. Beth's place had everything we needed for an extremely relaxing break.

  • This is the perfect place to escape city life for a couple of nights, so we will definitely return! It is clean, tidy and has everything you need and more to feel right at home; the log burner is a great touch and kept us warm in the chilly evenings. Thanks for a lovely stay, we can’t wait to come back!

  • An excellent, cosy studio apartment. The fire and bed are a real highlight!

    Alex2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful studio with lots of great qualities! The location is in the quiet town of Shipton Moyne - but we headed to Tetbury (a 4 minute drive) most days for a busier crowd. The studio is a little smaller than the images shown, however it was perfect for the two of us. I highly recommend the stay, and wouldn’t hesitate to return!

    Lewis2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • One of our best stays! Janes home is welcoming, spotless and comfortable. Jane is a very welcoming host. I loved this stay!

    Chloe2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jane is delightful, a lovely fun lady, and I really enjoyed her company. Her home is beautiful, tastefully decorated to a high standard, in a quiet hamlet location with beautiful Cotswold stone homes. I didn't use the guest lounge but it was lovely and a wonderful amenity for anyone staying more than one night. My satnav took me a very convoluted way but I soon realised that the hamlet is close to a larger village with friendly pubs offering food. I would love to return in summer to explore properly. My only very minor complaint is that the ad could make it clearer that the hosts are in fact a couple, as I (and many other single female travellers) tend to feel more comfortable with female hosts as a first preference. Highly recomnended.

    Ruth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Tony have a lovely home and certainly made me most welcome. Whilst the downstairs guest lounge looked awfully inviting I opted for an early night. The bedroom’s decor is beautiful in the duck egg blue and white. Along with the thoughtful little touches everywhere, it’s a gorgeous cosy little space to hunker down for the night. I would certainly recommend but try get there before nightfall as it can be a bit tricky to find in the dark.

The Cotswolds: If you’re looking for somewhere with a surprise round every corner then look no further than the beautiful Cotswolds. Famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone, the Cotswolds are a range of gently rolling hills and the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales making them a perfect base for keen walkers and cyclists. Escape the high street and lose yourself in village lanes full to bursting with quirky and independent shops, restaurants and farmers markets or soak up the amazing atmosphere of one of our many festivals and events. You’ll find some of the world’s most famous – and beautiful gardens in the Cotswolds, as well as wildlife parks, castles and stately homes and some of the finest historic buildings and churches in the country. Don’t be put off by our lack of coastline either! We have 40 miles of lakes in the Cotswold Water Park and numerous gently winding streams, canals and waterways criss-crossing the picturesque towns and villages. On the door step: WOODCHESTER PARK - the secret valley: Nestled in the Cotswolds, the secluded valley of Woodchester Park is home to the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park, a Victorian mansion, a chain of five lakes fringed by woodland and pasture, and an abundance of wildlife. The 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece was abandoned in mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. Visitors walk through an extraordinary architectural exhibit in which the secrets of the medieval Gothic builders and masons are laid bare. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the world. 3 mins drive / 30 mins walk: NAILSWORTH: The artistic, market town of Nailsworth is nestled in a wooded valley in the south Cotswolds. Nailsworth is renowned for its selection of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafes. Eating out in Nailsworth means you are spoilt for choice. Hobbs House Bakery is famous for being owned by the Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert – and was featured on their TV show. William’s Food Hall has helped turn Nailsworth into a foodie haven. It draws celebrities and foodies through its doors to dine on fresh seafood and local produce. 5 mins drive: MINCHINHAMPTON The delightful, small market town of Minchinhampton sits on the edge of Minchinhampton Common. It's made up of pretty stone cottages, many dating back to the 17th century and medieval wool trade. There is a weekly country market and a good choice of cafes. Minchinhampton was chosen as a scenic location for the recent BBC TV adaptation of J K Rowling’s Casual Vacancy. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Stroud Valleys from Minchinhampton Common, which sits on the Cotswold escarpment. It is an important archaeological landscape and managed by the National Trust. Rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted along with freely roaming horses and cattle. Please drive carefully over the common and keep an eye out for (URL HIDDEN) of the most famous residents is the Princess Royal who lives at Gatcombe Park on the edge of town. Every year, the famously quirky Giffords Circus takes up residence in Minchinhampton as part of its annual summer tour of the Cotswolds. 15 mins drive: TETBURY: Tetbury is a historic market town that is now internationally famous for its range of antiques shops and dealers. Independent boutique shops sit alongside restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guides. Tetbury attracts everyone from Royalty (Prince Charles and his sons' home, Highgrove, sits less than a mile away) to English countryside lovers, antique-finders, foodies and real ale connoisseurs. 8 min drive: STROUD: In the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the market town of Stroud - Situated below the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills at the meeting point of the Five Valleys, the town is noted for its steep streets, independent spirit and cafe culture. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the town, and the Cotswold Way path passes by it to the west. The award winning saturday farmers market IS A MUST! 25 min drive: BIBURY & ARLINGTON Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold village just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports! Originally built in the 14th century as a monastic wool store, it was converted in the 17th century into a row of weavers’ cottages. The cottages are now lived in by National Trust tenants, with no public access to the cottages or gardens, although one of them can be rented out as a holiday cottage. The River Coln flows through Bibury sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle, so called because wool was once hung out to dry there on racks after it had been washed in Arlington Row. With Arlington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. 30 min drive:CHELTENHAM SPA 45 min drive: BATH SPA

  • My husband and I were looking for a quiet night away. We came across this place and thought it looked interesting. We were blown by the beautiful location. We also booked a couple's yoga session which was incredible. It gave us 1.5 hours to really connect with each other. Victoria & Dave were amazing hosts. We will be back again without a doubt.

  • A little gem of an apartment. We also had a few of the amazing ‘treatments/sessions’ on offer by Victoria which we found great. Her hospitality adds to the totally relaxing atmosphere. Lots of walks straight from the apartment. Shops, restaurants and bars a few miles away and yet you feel in the middle of nowhere.

The annex is separate from the main property, linked by their study room, making it private but still within the family space. The annex is stunning with beams and views over the grounds and pond. It was spotlessly clean and there some lovely touches including ground coffee and a cafetiere in the room. And very good coffee it was! I would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all, yet only a short drive from Tedbury. I would certainly stay again at the drop of a hat. Thank you Kelly. Ian

This is a 1750's cottage on a country lane in an extraordinary location, 20 minute walk to the small town of Nailsworth, and a pastoral walk through the abundant waters & garden valley leading to Ruskin Mill Centre & Cafe (best homemade food around!)
This is a 3-storey cottage, with an overview from kitchen and sitting room of tall trees and luscious green hillside The close proximity of Ruskin Mill Trust (see below) puts us in the heart of all that inspired the vision for young lives, land and waterways.
For instance(!) I pop into the village health shop on my birthday and they donate me fresh cream to celebrate, I return to the cottage and someone else has left the corresponding perfect apple pie. In short, heartfelt neighbours living their joy, painting, making music, planting veggies & flowers, circle singing and dancing and rambling walks. Ruskin Mill Trust has transformed this Valley over the course of nearly 50 years. It is a truly delightful and beneficial presence in this Community. My now-grown children were inspired by Ruskin Mill classes as part of their core curriculum in college (and Alisdair, one of the founder's sons -see below- was their college principal!). A little history - "The seeds of Ruskin Mill (Educational) Trust were sown in 1967, when Robin and Barbara Gordon transplanted their young sons Aonghus and Alasdair from the hothouse of the Ruskin Centre for Art Appreciation in Venice to the cold-frame of a dilapidated former textile mill in Gloucestershire. They had fallen into fertile soil. Within the steep, wooded valleys of the Severn escarpment, a thousand years of the wool trade had bequeathed Horsley and Nailsworth a built environment of exceptional quality, a pioneering spirit and a keen pride in design and craftsmanship. Over the next fifteen years, they were energised by the inspirations of three men whose visions had helped shape the lives of the Gordon family: Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. By 1984, they had germinated into the Ruskin Mill Centre for Arts and Cultural Regeneration. In that year, pupils from nearby Cotswold Chine Special School helped restore the mill's water-wheel. The next year, two more joined what was soon to become the Living Earth Training Course. The Living Earth Course combined biodynamic agriculture in a market garden with the craft curriculum sourced from the Arts and Crafts movement, the insights into human development provided by Rudolf Steiner and a commitment to responsible stewardship of the land for future generations. This curriculum, the so-called Descent into Matter, accessed the four elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire through the three Kingdoms of Nature: - Animal - leatherwork, felt-making and weaving - Plant - basketry, carving and green woodwork - Mineral - pottery, stone carving, stained glass and metalwork Students boarded with local families, and received additional support through anthroposophic medicine and associated therapies. Crucially, students were constantly immersed in the commercial activities of the Mill: the small craft workshops, cafe and other retail outlets. This braiding of practical education, home-making, commerce and environmental awareness gave them the unique therapeutic experience of transforming their environment into useful commodities, for exchange within the market economy. This vision has remained at the heart of the Trust's work ever since." Ruskin Mill Trust says: "This is how we want our world to be: Each individual experiences meaningful relationships with universe, earth and people and has the potential to shape their own future."
  • Heather is a very attentive and interested host and her cottage is so cosy. I had a lovely stay in a very comfortable room and a nice chat over breakfast. Just sorry I was only staying one night but hope to be back again

  • What an amazing experience my 4 week stay has been. This is NOT your usual Air BnB experience (pristine room, facilities etc etc.) If you want that, then look elsewhere. This is actually something so much more. It's a very comfortable en-suite double room in an 18th century family cottage set in the most beautiful, secluded Cotswold valley. Heather is the most wonderful welcoming host and I was warmly welcomed by her and her family and friends (and Ollie the Cat). From the first moment, I was made to feel welcome and at home and was allowed to treat the house as one of the family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a down-to-earth, back-to-nature totally chilled out experience!

  • Stunning location, genuine hospitality.

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying at Heather's cottage. It is a lovely country cottage which is spacious. The room I stayed in had an ensuite bathroom with a shower which was a great feature. Heather is extremely welcoming and made me a cup of tea upon arrival! I would definitely recommend this property to anybody wanting to visit this area. Heather also told me about a nice walk from the cottage (which I did when I had checked out).

  • Such a lovely welcoming house, enables you to have an easy and relaxing time, lovely for a well trained dog (that gets on with a cat) as there are plenty places to take them, as well as the house being pet friendly.

  • What a great place to spend some time - we wish it had been longer. We especially liked the comfortable beds and sofa/chairs after a busy day exploring. A lovely cosy retreat. The online guidebook was really helpful and all our questions were answered so quickly- great hosts.

  • This is a lovely home, perfect for a weekend away. Jodie and Glenn gave clear instructions on how to check in and were quick to give us as much information as we needed about the area. The house was clean and cosy- perfect for a night in if that's what you're after! It's also right in Tetbury so perfectly situated for heading out into the area. The mini cupcakes were a lovely touch too :) highly recommend!

  • We’ve just spent a really fabulous weekend in this gorgeous cottage. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s just a wonderful place to stay. It’s cosy and very comfortable - great sitting room, good sized TV, well equipped kitchen and some lovely touches like tea, coffee, milk and a delicious cake. Fresh flowers in the sitting room and bedrooms felt really welcoming. The beds are super-comfy with lovely cotton bedding. The beautiful antique furniture is so well chosen for this truly charming cottage, very conveniently located for the centre of Tetbury and a few minutes’ walk from the Tithe Barn where we were attending a family party. Highly recommended and we hope to return. Thank you for your hospitality and welcome, Jodie and Glenn.

    Debbie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, cozy and comfortable cottage. Well equipped. In the town with parking on the street right in front of the house. Great communication with Jodie regarding Wi-Fi problems. Beautiful town at your door stop with excellent pubs and restaurants. A great place for short walks around the village and further. Highly recommend this cottage. It will not disappoint.

    Jean2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we needed, they were there to solve it. They also provided us some suggestions about the place and the cottage is as cosy as in the photos.

    Miriam2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Jodie and Glenn’s cottage. We were looking for a relaxing break away from city life but still with enough to do and close enough to local amenities. The property is beautiful and has so much character, with little touches like fresh flowers, tea, coffee and milk in the fridge and extra towels should we need them, really made us feel as if we were in our home away from home. Although there were so many wonderful restaurants in town, we opted to stay in and cook every night as there was everything we needed for it followed by relaxing in front of the electric fire watching a dvd, which are supplied, and enjoying a glass of wine or two! Jodie provide us with more great information for dog walks, not that we needed it with all the beautiful books and literature that was on offer in the cottage anyway. Needless to say our German shepherd had a wonderful holiday and could be found snoring in front of the fire every night. The cottage location is excellent, within minutes walk you are in Tetbury town with its abundance of yummy restaurants and personal shops. Jump in the car if you need to and the rest of the Cotswolds is within easy reach. We are already planning our next visit to Jodie and Glenn’s and can’t wait to come back!

The Little Barn is a beautifully, sympathetically and stylishly renovated two bedroom cottage within the grounds of a former farm that was once owned by the local Monastery. The cottage itself is spacious and fully equipped with everything guests should need for a truly comfortable and restful stay. In this era of sustainable living, The Little Barn benefits from solar panel energy, a Tesla battery for energy storage and use, recycling facilities and energy efficient appliances and lighting.
The cottage is warm, cosy and inviting boasting a fully furnished kitchen complete with all mod cons including a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. Basic condiments (salt, pepper, oil), tea, coffee, sugar, a cafetiere, washing up liquid, tea towels, tin foil, cling film, sponges, dishwasher tablets, laundry materials and bin bags come as standard as does a lovely welcome pack comprising local produce and fridge essentials. Beyond the kitchen and the other side of a lovingly restored archway, is the lounge where guests will find a Smart TV (including Netflix, Prime Video & Freeview Play), an Amazon Echo Dot, a comfortable corner settee that doubles as a bed, an extendable dining table and French doors that open onto a quiet outdoor space. For younger guests, there are books, toys and games. For older guests, there is a chess set and playing cards. Upstairs, there is a tastefully refurbished bathroom, a gorgeous master bedroom with king sized bed and plenty of storage, plus an attractive twin room. Both bedrooms have space for a travel cot if required (available upon request) and both overlook the surrounding fields that stretch to the Cotswolds and beyond. Towels and bed linen are provided including bedding for the downstairs sofa bed and travel cot as appropriate. Wifi is available throughout the property free of charge. Heating and hot water are included in the fee.
The Little Barn is situated at the end of a quiet farm lane and is a perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds and surrounding areas. There is no through access hence it is utterly tranquil and a haven for those seeking beautiful countryside and an escape from the normal stresses of daily life. The surrounding fields are a paradise for walkers and the local village of Kingswood is just a short drive away. It can also be reached on foot if the mood takes you. Within Kingswood, there is a handy and friendly Spar which doubles as a Post Office / cash point. Guests will also find a delightful Public House that serves good tasty food, a gym with 'pay as you go' classes, a park and play area, the local church and the remains of the Abbey. There is ample parking at the park with further parking in and around the village. The friendly market town of Wotton-under-Edge is a further mile away by car and here guests will discover several eateries, a butcher, a couple of bakeries, several barbers and hairdressers, two grocery stores, two medical centres, two dentists and an array of local craft, produce, antique and gift shops. There is also a traditional cinema, a Tourist Information Office, free parking, an art centre and an open air pool (open during the warmer months). The pool has recently been extensively refurbished and is a real oasis on hot summer days. The beautiful town of Chipping Sodbury is just a short distance away and the cities of Bristol (30 mins), Bath (35 mins) and Gloucester (40 mins) are all within easy reach. All three cities abound with history, activities, shopping and wonderful sightseeing walks and tours. A particularly lovely way of taking in Bristol is via 'cycle the city', guided or self guided. Just ask Annie and Simon for details if interested. Again only a short drive away and guests will reach the stunning Cotswolds where places like Tetbury, Westonbirt, Uley, Cirencester and Malmesbury are well worth a visit. These beautiful artsy towns and the surrounding villages teem with history and are stuffed to the brim with cafes, antique palaces and boutiques. The Little Barn is a handy gateway to this beautiful part of England. With the 102 mile Cotswold Way on the cottage's doorstep, guests can sample breathtaking views, dramatic gorges, rolling hills, forests and every kind of landscape a person could wish for, not forgetting the abundance of numerous castles, historic houses, country parks, museums and art galleries. The delights of the area are arguably some of the best in the UK and Annie and Simon can offer more details upon request.

  • Gorgeous, freshly presented and comfortable property. We had a great night’s sleep and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Loved that the owners were clearly available if we had had any needs while we were there, but gave us all the privacy desired. Described as a gem & matches description. Welcome pack was a delightful addition. Already recommended to family for if they are staying in the area and will happily return. Many thanks!

  • Thanks very much for a fantastic stay. The accommodation was beautiful, clean and well resourced. Annie and Simon set up the house for us to just start our holiday with ease. Perfect location for exploring. We visited Tetbury, Chipping Sodbury and Bath during our stay. We would love to return in the summer to fully appreciate the unique outdoor space on offer.

    Michelle2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • In brief: Annie and Simon's place is great and you should book to stay here. It is well kitted-out, warm, and in an excellent location for walks and exploring the Cotswolds. It is very child-friendly. In long: Annie and Simon's place is brand new, and fitted to a really high specification. The cottage comprises and open-plan kitchen-dining-sitting room on the ground floor and two upstairs bedrooms, plus a bathroom (with a bath!). It easily accommodates a family of four, but there is also a large sofabed downstairs which expands the capacity to 6 at a squeeze. The Kitchen is fitted with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay (oven, microwave, pots pans, etc) as well as basic ingredients such as salt, pepper, etc. Annie also kindly provided us with some fresh local bread, butter, eggs and cake. There is a dishwasher and washing machine with more than enough tabs for a prolonged stay. The cottage is well-equipped for little ones. There are plenty of books and toys inside and lots of grounds to explore. There is also a booster seat and plenty of children's cutlery, plates, cups etc. Annie kindly put a guard rail on the bed for our son, and special bed linen for children - a nice touch. The living room has everything that you might expect: a TV, corner sofa, and some games. The TV has access to Netflix and Amazon Prime, and there is access to an almost infinite amount of music with Amazon Music. Annie and Simon are on site - as well as some other lodgers, but the accommodation is very private, with views facing away from the other accommodation, looking over fields. Annie is quick to respond to any queries, but let's you get on with enjoying your time in the accommodation. The accommodation is set far back from the road, on part of a farm estate, amongst fields and trees. Kingswood is about 1 km away, along field paths, and it is easy to carry on to Wotton-Under-Edge. There are local amenities, but it is the countryside and things are spread out a little! A car (or bicycle) is essential. There is a comprehensive directory of local amenities at the lodging. In summary: you will not be disappointed booking here.
