Right next to the shore - along which you can walk to the local Inn. Simple, spacious and basic. This bothy is our former home decluttered. One large, light open-plan room. Small range & wood-burner provides heating and hot water. Composting toilet.
This is an old stone building with a more recent stone end built by my brother Donald Icky Maclachlan - stonemason. It is very basic but it does have double glazing. The track down into the bay at Camuslusta is very steep. Although some people can find this a bit daunting, the track has a fairly good surface and all the residents of Camuslusta drive normal cars up and down it daily. The front door of the bothy practically opens onto the beach. Although the track to our house runs between the bothy and the shore. You can watch the gannets, gulls, herons, oyster-catchers, seals and occasionally an otter from the front door or through the windows. With views over to the uninhabited headland opposite, out to the little islands at the head of the bay, or of the shipping crossing the Minch between us and the Outer Isles. The bothy has one large, light and spacious, open-plan living, kitchen, sleeping room. The bothy offers flexible sleeping arrangements - there is a double bed and also a 1930's sofa bed which is probably not that comfortable. Depending on what is required - I can also make up another single bed or another double. Get in touch if you would like to have the sofabed and the two double beds - this is possible. The kitchen is very basic. One step up from camping - it's inside, and there's a sink and a fridge. It has a small wood-burning range which heats the water and also two-ring gas stove for quick cooking. The bothy has basics like an electric kettle, electric toaster, pans, plates glasses and cutlery. We provide basics like milk, oatmeal for porridge (and a recipe), tea, coffee, olive oil for cooking, salt, pepper. At the moment - guests can use the bathroom in our house for a shower. We have towels - not necessarily the fluffiest ever, but fine. As guests you will have the option of using a simple composting toilet outside (until the new grander composting toilet is built) or the toilet in the house. Our house is a short distance along the track and the bathroom is in the extension by the front door. There is a telly but it only plays videos. There are a few videos in the cupboard - a small but varied collection. Do not expect this bothy to be immaculate - it is a more than a little worn around the edges - but it is a beautiful space in an amazing spot.
The view changes with the weather - very atmospheric moody windy wild wet days and then you wake up to the clear beauty of a sunny day - looking across the still loch to the unpopulated peninsula opposite. Just step outside and you can wander along the shore towards the village, to the pub (the Stein Inn) or the small craft shop. You can book a boat trip out from the jetty at Stein. Stein is roughly a twenty minute walk. Or you can walk the other way to find some peace and quiet. The Stein Inn serves food and there is also a small seafood restaurant (for which you probably need to book) - if walking to Stein, you can also walk around the road, which takes a bit longer. Or you can drive.
  • Brilliant hosts and beautiful location. A dream trip for both of us

  • Brigid place is a little touch of Heaven. It’s locked away in a quiet wee corner of Skye and if you want absolute peace and quiet, Go There! Brigid is a fantastic host who explains everything then leaves you to get on with your stay, but if you need anything, she’ll definitely help you without hesitation. A true gem of a find.

  • Brilliant Bothy that’ll give you that calm Skye experience without going full on camping! Would definitely recommend and Brigid is super helpful !

  • Perfect wee spot right by the ocean for a quiet and very affordable break away, close to Portree for all the main shops and supplies if needed too. Great host that was a lot of help and also very generous with help and advice, well worth listening too. Would have already booked another trip if it wasn’t so far booked up lol, honestly didn’t want to leave. Great place

  • The wee bothy has what you need. We were only there 2 nights, which was a pity, could happily stayed for longer. The views are simply amazing! Brigid was great, maintained contact throughout and advised beforehand that there was a slight issue with the track, but it wasn’t an issue for us. We will return to Skye for sure and would happily stay here again :)

Very small cosy double room with ensuite facilities and a power shower in the heart of Portree. Walking distance from the town centre, free Wi Fi,Tea & coffee facilities and buffet continental breakfast. View of the Cuillins from landing. No additional guests.
The space is located a very short walk (1-2 mins) from the main street of Portree, which a joins the square and pier. This is where restaurants, sea food, traditional bars and interesting shops can be found. Boat trips leave the pier regularly and there is a walking path that leaves the town very close to the space.
  • Very good value for money. Very well located on the Isle of Skye. Parking space right in front of the house.

Detached studio with majestic, cliff top views over Lochbay and Waternish to the village of Stein & across the sea to the Outer Hebrides. We have the most amazing sunsets! Open plan, cosy, yet light and airy; a peaceful haven in which to relax. We've tried to create self catering, that is a tad out of the ordinary, with funky textiles & quirky local touches. Modern facilities, huge drench shower, dishwasher, log burner, free wi-fi. Huge Overwater House, next door, for a couple, also available.
The larch clad studio was designed by us to make the most of fabulous views. The living space is dominated by the huge window, right next to this is the comfy couch. The ceiling is high to create a light and airy feel to the compact, open plan studio. The oak floor helps to give the space a feeling of warmth and luxury. Opposite the couch, in the corner, is the log burning stove and on the same wall the tv. The kitchen is well equipped with a vintage oak table at which to eat. Everything in the studio has been made or chosen with love & care. We've consciously tried to avoid the neutral, high street look. The bed is king-sized with Egyptian cotton bedding. Included in the price is free WiFi. There is a small decking area on the sea side for guests to sit out on. The garden is enclosed. There is a privacy fence to shield the studio from the house next door. Logs are also provided for the stove and all electricity is included. The bathroom has a huge, walk in, drench shower. We’re not fans of fabric conditioners or tumble dryers so although the towels are Egyptian Cotton, they’re not the softest.
Waternish, in the north of the island, is one of the most beautiful parts of the Isle of Skye. It has magnificent views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. Blue Moon studio has undoubtedly one of the finest views on Waternish. Sit by the huge window & enjoy the constantly changing light on the water. There are wonderful boat trips from the local jetty. We're close to Stein with the oldest pub on Skye & Michael Smith's, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. Skye is 'foodie' heaven!
  • Blue Moon Studio is fantastically located and fantastically clean. The host was excellent at communicating and made us feel very welcome. We didn’t want to leave and would love to go back 👍🏻☺️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  • I had an amazing time at the Blue Moon Studio, and on Skye. A great escape from life back home. The location on Loch Bay was perfect for me...to walk to Stein, to drive to the Talisker distillery, Neist Point, and The Three Chimneys for dinner Sunday night. I could spend hours looking out the window at that stunning view! And I'd strongly recommend being at the studio for at least one sunset! The little welcoming touches provided were really appreciated...the wood for the stove, the shortbread, the coffee and a bottle of wine. Additionally, Jayne was advising on possible travel issues (because I was staying in February when the weather was a bit iffy). And offering tips on where to go for a lively Skye experience. I'd definitely stay again!

    Liam2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio was a perfect getaway with a spectacular view. David and Jayne were excellent with their communication and check in was very straightforward. The studio is a lovely space and is in a great location to explore lots of different parts of Skye. The wood burning stove and view were particular highlights but the whole place was lovely and sparkling clean. Couldn’t recommend it more highly and will definitely be back for future visits!

    Jo2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio was the perfect space for us to relax for a long weekend up on Skye. The view from the living room will be extremely difficult to leave. David & Jayne’s local knowledge helped us massively as it was our first time visiting Skye.

    Joe2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place - amazing location, house lovely and had everything you need with a fully equipped kitchen. Lovely wood burning stove. Beautifully decorated lots of good information and gave us good advice on local running routes! Hope to visit again in the summer!

    Zoe2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended - accommodation, location, special touches, wealth of useful info and tips for things to see and do. Will be adding an 'owner biography' page to my cottage folder - such a clever touch if you like the full picture!

    Peter2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place to stay on Skye. Close enough to Portree but in a quiet location with beautiful views. The accommodation was top notch with great little touches to make it comfortable and homely.

    Guy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio is like staying in a small slice of heaven. When we arrive we were welcomed with a lovely hand written note, wine, and buttery short bread cookies. It’s located above a peninsula next door to a property with gorgeous highland sheep dotted all over the land. The wall along the combined kitchen and living space is a huge window overlooking the water. There’s a wood stove with plenty of wood that is cozy and comforting. The entire studio is filled with local art, pottery, blankets, pillows, and such. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. In fact we only dined out one time in the four days we were there. The bed is dreamy, we would’ve been happy to just stay in that bed all day..... but there are so many beautiful things to see and do in the surrounding areas, we made ourselves get up! Robby and I stay in Airbnb’s whenever we travel and we have to say this place is one of the best places we’ve ever experienced. We are already planning our next visit. If you want rest, relaxation, and peace, this is your spot! Cheers!

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • James is an amazing host, so friendly and hospitable. Location is beautiful and the bothy is stunning. 5 star🌟

    Charlotte2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

  • Great place to stay! Lovely views and plenty of local walks near, very peaceful and relaxing. Was good to have the log burner with the cold weather would definately go back.

  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

    Jane2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was wonderful. We wanted peace and quiet and that was exactly what we got. We arrived in the dark so didn't see much of the view from the drive down. But the following day was a real treat! The directions to the Bothy were clear and precise and we found it in the dark with very little trouble. Logs and kindling were plentiful, so each evening we had a fire and heated up the hot tub twice. The shower and toilet were very clean and only a short walk away from the Bothy. A great place to stay, fantastic location and well worth the drive from the village.

Fossil Cottage is a unique historical cottage for two right by the seashore on the Isle of Skye, one of the world's favourite islands. With comfort, character and charm in abundance, built from local stone with embedded fossils, this special place will sooth your soul. With all this to entrance you, and all that Skye has to offer, spending only three days here is really not long enough. Stay longer! Experience more! Live like a local for a while on our beautiful island.
Privately situated right on the seashore in a peaceful crofting township, Fossil Cottage is a cosy, quirky home from home. You couldn’t be closer to nature here. Watch the local otter playing and fishing right outside, wander along the shore to hunt for fossils or to enjoy the beautiful beach nearby, or just sit quietly relaxing in the silence and the soothing atmosphere of this comfortable old croft cottage. Fossil Cottage has one double bedroom, a living-room with outstanding views of the sea right outside and spectacular sunsets. There is a fully-equipped open-plan kitchen, a shower-room with a great shower – and a location second to none. A smart TV and wi-fi are provided, so you can stay in touch, and Orange/EEE mobile reception is good. Heated by an environmentally-friendly heat pump, backed up by a stove for colder nights, this cottage is full of character, furnished and looked after with love and care by its local owners. The works of local artists hang on the walls and many fascinating old items add to the sense of history. The old stone walls have fossils in them. The cottage is about two miles from the village of Broadford, which has several restaurants, pubs and a supermarket, as well as art galleries, a pottery, other craft shops and lots more. The nearest restaurant is just a few minutes’ walk away. You are well-placed here to explore all of the spectacular Isle of Skye and the near mainland. Situated in the spacious grounds of the owners' property, the cottage is secluded and peaceful. There are lots of great walks starting straight from the door of the cottage as well as further afield, and the Isle of Skye is a delight to explore. The Cuillin mountains are a mecca for climbers and boat trips can be taken from several places, to spot sea eagles, whales, dolphins, seals, to go fishing or just to chill out and be amazed by Skye’s fabulous scenery. It’s best to come with a car, to make the most of this famous and spectacular island. You will be welcomed personally by Fiona or Geoff, whose pleasure it is to make you feel at home and ensure that you have everything you need. If you need any help or information while you are here, we will be glad to help. But we will not intrude. We appreciate that you need your own space, and that is what we provide. The Isle of Skye is one of the most special islands anywhere. Its dramatic scenery and fascinating geology, plus its wildlife and history, make it an essential place on any traveller's itinerary. Local buses will take you to within a mile of the cottage. However, it's much better to come with a car. Skye is a large island and you'll be able to do much more if you can travel independently. Bike hire is is available in the village.

  • Wonderful bothy with lots of sweet little touches. It felt immediately like home. Incredible views to wake up and have breakfast to. Thanks Nicky!

  • The Skye Bothy was amazing. It had all the amenities you could want, was lovely and warm, even in February with amazing views. Kirsty was wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for a beautiful stay, Bec and Josh x

    India2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The little bothy is a lovely, unique place to stay. It's beautiful and Nicky's hospitality was the best part - she was always reachable via text for any questions (and she was nice enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco and call restaurants both evenings we were there so we knew where we could go and eat - both places were SO yummy as well). Visiting in February was not the best month (we had Storm Dennis raging around us and the weather was mostly terrible), but we were snug in the bothy, even if the heating was a little weird to regulate (even though Nicky clearly showed us how to use it, we kept over/under heating the place - our fault though!). Visiting when it's mostly good weather would definitely be divine - the long-ish drive from the main road in Broadford to the bothy was a little scary at times when there was heavy fog, but all OK if you drive slowly and carefully. It's amazing how thoughtfully Nicky has laid out the place - it's tiny, but has so many amenities and even some little games (which we took advantage of) and a kitchen. Highly recommended.

  • A perfect little getaway for yourself and another! Gorgeous views and a tasteful little bothy that'll keep you warm from the cold that Scotland can bring. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to see more of what Skye has to offer. Nicky is also a wonderful host.

This must be reserved and paid at the time of booking. Linen, electricity & final clean are included in the rental. Please bring your own bath towels. Additional Charges: Will only occur for breakages or extra cleaning. The owner would appreciate it if the cottage was left in the same order as you found it. Many thanks. Whilst we hope that none of our guests experience issues during their stay, we do need to point out that due to the cottage's location on the Isle of Skye, some services can be tempermental and can take a lengthy delay to get resolved. Internet speed can be very slow and the service can fluctuate during the day and week. Mobile phone signal is very patchy on the Isle of Skye. Also, to replace any broken appliances, it can take weeks for a delivery to happen. We will at all times try our hardest to rectify any issues but please bear with us as there can be issues due to location that are outwith our control. Cottage directions and key information are emailed approximately 14 days in advance of the arrival date.

  • Had a great time at this perfect cottage. It's really well equiped and in a nice central location and great views. Nice and cozy even through some big winter stores. Host could have not been more helpful.

  • Really cosy cottage in a great location for exploring the isle of Skye, the host is great and nothing is to much trouble would definitely return, thanks for everything Katherine

  • We had a great time! The cottage is ideally located in relation to all the major centers of interest on the island. The cottage is really very cozy, warm, well heated (in January). The comfortable beds, the fairly well equipped kitchen, and cleanliness with nothing to complain about! Everything was perfect. Hate to come back! Married

    Marie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with two double rooms and 3 single beds. Log fires in both the lounge and dining room and a well-equipped kitchen. Lots of hot-water and heating, we were always cosy and happy. The cottage is wonderfully set back from the road up a little driveway so you feel properly secluded and have a great view. I'd reiterate the point that the stairs are really just a ladder, so only 'fit and able' people can use them, but there's also a double room downstairs. Also a bit of advise that there's no blind on the one skylight window in the upstairs rooms, so if you're staying in the summer, be warned that you might be woken up early by the sunlight! The management company were really helpful and fixed a problem with the oven really quickly, so be assured that you'll be well looked after!

  • We had a great week in the cozy cottage. We were warmly welcomed by the housekeeper, Caroline. She gave us great tips. The cottage is beautiful and very quiet. From there we could explore the beautiful Skye. We especially enjoyed the Quirrang walk, Heist-point and the fairy pools. The cottage itself had a lot of charm and everything we needed. There were also games and fun books. We had enough space with our family of 6. Highly recommended!

  • A nice crofthouse in a convenient location for Portree, Trotternish and the Cuillins.

    Michael2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really comfortable croft in Edinbane. It has good facilities and is well located for the pub and local attractions like Waternish and Dunvegan. Although the weather was on the cold side the house was well heated and had plenty of books, games and tourist information. The stairs are very steep and need to be handled with care but we didn’tneed to use them so it wasn’t an issue for us. We would book again if we returned.

    Mike2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • A well appointed accommodation with everything on hand for a comfie stay. There were 6 of us staying which was just about ok. Highly recommended and well positioned to get to the pub...5 minute walk but a tough uphill walk home.

  • A beautiful, clean and picturesque spot to spend time in the Highlands! Couldn’t ask for anything more!

    Hannah2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect cosy cabin, everything you would ever need apart from the great outdoors...which happens to be on your door stop. The service and communication before hand was great. The fudge on the bed was an added bonus. Highly recommend.

  • Great cabin with a spectacular view on Skye. Not secluded but still a nice place to get away from it all.

    Hugo2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great cabin - the view is outstanding and was a privilege to wake up to every morning. The cabin itself was very cozy, quiet and clean, would definitely be back.

    Christopher2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The 3 nights my husband and I stayed in the cabin were fantastic. We really enjoyed waking up to that amazing view of the water and drinking our morning coffee. The cabin is small but has everything you could need. Super clean, and in a great spot for going out and exploring Skye. There were even a small selection of movies to choose from if you want to have a night in. This was helpful as we were on Skye during the off season so a lot of places are closed or closed early. We'd definitely stay here again!

Angels’ Share is an architect designed contemporary cottage over looking Knock Bay and the ruins of Knock Castle. There is spacious accommodation for two people, with room for two children or two “small adults” on a sofa bed. The cottage is situated on the Sleat peninsula known as the Garden of Skye. The cottage is not far from from the Skye Bridge and the mainland ferry ports. It makes a great base for exploring the whole of Skye's beautiful scenery.
There is electric heating throughout (under floor in the shower room) and a wood burning stove for those colder evenings. A welcome pack and an initial supply of fuel for the stove. We allow pets by arrangement.
The cottage is next to Skye newest Whisky Distillery (Torabhaig) which is certainly worth a visit. The drive to the cottage from either the ferry port (Armadale) or the Skye Bridge takes you through stunning countryside with magnificent views across the Sound of Sleat to the mountains of the Scottish mainland.
  • John and Mhairi were amazing hosts. Angels Share is a gem within a beautiful island. Their thoughtful were greatly appreciated and made the cottage a pleasure to stay in.

    Maxine2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great accomodation, everything you need and quiet relaxing place. John provides lots of lovely personal touches that make you feel very welcome. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect base from which to explore Skye.

  • John and Mhairi have created a fantastic space with the most thoughtful touches to create a home when exploring the beautiful isle of skye. Nice and tucked away, the place is modern, amazingly clean and stylish throughout with a real Scottish feel. By far the nicest Airbnb ever stayed in and would recommend to anybody.

    Matt2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Beautifully decorated, warm & comfortable, stunning location & full of lovely little touches which made us feel like we were staying in a fancy boutique hotel! John & Mhairi were wonderfully welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfy, and the house was equipped with everything from coffee maker to an Alexa. Very close to Torabhaig distillery, the beach & the ruins of Knock Castle, so stuff to do close by. Couldn't quite believe the quality of this place, thanks so much for our amazing holiday!

    Ben2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a very chilled 3 night stay at Angels Share. The accommodation is immaculate and kitted out with everything you’d possibly need. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful island of Skye. We loved sitting by the fire and chilling while watching the storm outside. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts giving a friendly check-in and thoughtful welcome pack. We’ll definitely be back.

    Robert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Angels Share. The weather let us down (thanks Storm Ciara) but the cottage was a beautiful base from which to have windy rejuvenating walks on the beach, great food at the nearby Am Praban bar. The wood burning stove and welcome pack were much appreciated when we were wet and cold :) we loved our weekend away and would definitely stay again. Dog friendly too!

    Becca2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Angels Share. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts who gave us complete space and privacy to enjoy their accommodation but we knew they were right there if we needed them, and we didn’t! Angels Share has all you could want or need and more, it’s packed with thoughtful and homely touches, providing everything to connect you with the modern world but also everything to occupy you if you want to disconnect - the best of both worlds! We have already been recommending Angels to friends and family and would recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to return.

    Melissa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend :) It was a pleasure to spend these days with my wife in John and Mhairi’s cottage which is equipped with absolutely everything that could possibly be needed. The house is very nice, clean and tidy with a fireplace which makes you feel cosy. It is located near to the store and about 40 minutes to Portree. We loved this place because it feels like home away from home, was made with passion and attention to every detail. We are grateful for the help and warm welcome! Thank you!

Situated between Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh, our remote bed and breakfast has stunning views and you'll get a lovely homemade breakfast with fresh eggs from our chickens! Please note we are in a remote place and are ten minutes drive from restaurants and shops. Please print out the location instructions before your trip as sometimes GPS is not accurate.
Our detached, contemporary house is set just a few metres from the sea, in a tiny hamlet called Port an Eorna and it is only three miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, which is where you cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, so it is an ideal base for exploring Skye and the other lovely villages in this area such as Torridon and Applecross. Breakfast is served in the kitchen overlooking the sea and includes home made bread, home made yoghurt and home made granola - all made by Lynne - as well as fruit, cheese, continental meats, cereal, orange juice, tea, coffee, toast, jam, marmalade and pastries (sometimes homemade!). We also have a few hens so if you want some eggs for breakast, just ask! There are three restaurants near us - just two miles away - in the village of Plockton. When you are in the house you do not have to stay in your room. Our lounge has two huge corner windows, with two cosy armchairs so you are very welcome to sit in it and look at the scenery or read or just completely relax. The views are gorgeous and if you want to go for a short walk there is a very nice one outside and you can see beautiful views of the Isle of Skye. There is a private bathroom directly next door to the bedroom which guests will have sole use of and it has a huge shower with a rainforest shower head.
This is a remote neighbourhood - ten minutes drive from any restaurants or shops. It is very tranquil - there are just four detached houses at the end of a single track road - so you can totally relax and enjoy peace and quiet and nature.
  • One of those places where you instantly begin to plan when to visit again.

    Frederik2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say- a truly wonderful stay with some truly wonderful people (including Casper the dog!) Lynne and Darren's home is positioned in the most beautiful landscape imaginable and their lovely modern home makes full use of this view and environment, with very large windows that look out onto unbeatable views. Perched on the edge of the sea, there is always something to look at- an ever changing piece of art. The bedroom is a comfortable space with a large bed and storage, but to be honest we didn't spend any time here unless we were sleeping. This is because Lynne and Darren very kindly give their guests full use of their living space, with stunning views and log burner. The kitchen adjoins this lounge space, so Lynne and Darren were around this space to make food occasionally etc and say hello, but this living space would otherwise be yours to use. Likewise the bathroom next to your bedroom is a lovely functional space, with walk-in shower, and you will have sole use of this during your stay. The kitchen is where Lynne would prepare lovely breakfasts for us each morning. We were spoilt with homemade bread, yoghurt, jams and granola. Cheeses and meats were laid on, as were Lynne's home grown eggs! We also had pastries, buns or crumpets etc on other mornings- we never never short of lovely things to eat. When Lynne and Darren were around they would offer tea and always check in with us. Lynne's home is a croft, and so there are a number of animals around the house! We had a lot of fun watching her chickens and small flock of sheep carry out their daily routines, and we had a lot of entertainment from getting to know their rescue dog Casper. The position of the house makes it ideally placed to walk/ drive to a variety of beauty spots, whether that is a coastal walk around the local peninsula, or a walk into the nearby village of Plockton (which has a number of lovely pubs and places to pick up supplies). You can't help but fall out of the house into the gorgeous countryside! Lynne was on hand to recommend local walks to us during our stay, and we couldn't get enough of exploring the local area. This is a rural location, so if you want to make the most of your stay, bring some walking boots and get ready to explore some incredible scenery first hand! Can't recommend Lynne and Darren's lovely home enough- if you book your stay with them, you won't be disappointed!

    Chloe2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing. The hosts are wonderful, and helped to provide a great experience, serving delicious food, and are knowledgable about the area and generous with their time. The house is located in a gorgeous setting close to the Isle of Skye. Highly recommend

    Remy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing stay at Lynne and Darren’s! The view is next to none, and the ease to get around is great. So peaceful and pristine, and the home is so cozy and a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Loved getting to know the hosts and share some stories over a cuppa!

    Ange2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We loved staying with Lynne, Darren, and Casper! The house has a stunning view of the sea and its cozy seating areas give you the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Their hospitality is off the charts and we can not recommend a better place to stay. We’re already trying to figure out when we can return!

    Kate2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is such an amazing host. Staying was as comfortable as being at home, and the place is absolutely incredible. There are short walks to take right from the house, and it is ideal to get to Skye, if that is your destination. Lynne also had great tips for where to visit and where to eat. If we are back in the area, we would definitely stay again.

    Jason2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dreamy location, excellent hosts with good local tips and eclectic conversation. I could sit at those magnificent windows all day if there wasnt so much to see locally.

    Eric2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay if you wish to spend a day or more exploring Skye! You will have a fantastic drive through the Highlands to get here. (We recommended arriving during daylight unless you are an experienced driver!) The property itself and the views each morning are wonderful and worth exploring before you even go out for the day. Lovely cafe nearby and we enjoyed the restaurants in Plockton. Lynne is easy to get to know and makes you feel at ease and welcome at all times! Breakfast each morning is enjoyable, especially the eggs from her chickens! Sheep and Highland cows greet you each day as well. A place for animal lovers in a rural environment. The bed and bath area are in a private area of the house, but we felt welcome in the living and kitchen area and enjoyed our time in the chairs looking at the view and enjoying the fire each night.

The Studio is a contemporary eco building, cosy whatever the weather, with a wood burning stove. It has been designed by award winning architects Rural Design. The Studio is close to The Cuillin mountains, Talisker Distillery, Loch Bracadale. You can walk out from the studio directly into the landscape to the beach, sea cliffs and beautiful birch woods. The inside is thoughtfully and beautifully designed. A great space for couples and solo adventurers. We offer wifi internet connection.
The Studio is a contemporary architect designed space. It is cosy and warm whatever the weather. It has very low energy requirements and water consumption, using a Swedish waterless loo. Relax in a secluded private spot. Read by the wood burning stove with a cup of coffee, or walk directly out into the beautiful landscape around Loch Bracadale.
Loch Bracadale is a beautiful sea Loch with beaches and cliff walks. Sea Eagles nest not far along the cliffs. Gannets are often flying and diving for fish in the summer months.
  • If you looking for some ‘Hygge’ then the studio is the place, the perfect setting to watch the west coast weather pass by all whilst toasty warm by a wood burner! A great base for exploring Skye, had everything we needed. Nick was quick to respond and provided plenty of useful local recommendations. (The waterless loo got a little getting used to but was surprised by how well it worked.)

    Kiloran2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely modern studio with breathtaking views! Perfect get away from city life. Had everything we needed and the host was very friendly and helpful. Sad we had to leave and couldn't stay forever!

    Henry2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is a compact but perfectly put together modern space. It’s comfortable and practical...it wastes nothing. The windows give the most gorgeous views...on a clear night the moon and stars are beautiful, and during the day the view to the loch is amazing. The decor and design (everything from the blankets to the crockery to the way the bathroom works) really standout, and in the same way that trying to photograph Skye just doesn’t really do it justice, the Studio is so much better than the Airbnb listing shows. Whether you use this place as an amazing base for exploring the island, or snuggle up on the sofa in front of the wood burner this is a lovely warm space that will stay with you long after you’ve visited.

    Liam2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time at the studio. The studio itself is really cosy, and the view is stunning. Nicholas was really reactive and gave us good tips about Skye island. Was a really nice stay!

    Zoé2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is beautiful just like the surroundings. The fire makes the studio very cosy. Carbost is a nice village with the distillery, Paul’s Oyster Shed, coffee to go and the Old Inn. Good location to see many high lights of Skye. Don’t miss out on Jann’s Cakes in Dunvegan if you like sweets as much as I do. Nick is very friendly to. A place to recommend!

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicholas and Kate’s Studio is a beautiful, comfortable, and cosy place from which to experience the Isle of Skye. It had all the necessary amenities to cater for oneself and plenty of space in which to relax. Even going during what turned out to be a storm, we had an amazing time, cosied up inside, reading and drinking wine. It is also worth noting that the bed is very comfortable. We slept excellently despite the high winds and rain. Nicholas and Kate are fantastic hosts. They are quick to respond to messages and queries, attentive upon arrival, and extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the information we would need to make the most of the Studio and Skye itself, including concise directions on finding the address, as it is situated in a very quiet area.

    Eleanor2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in the studio. Easy to get to and great communication from Nick. The studio was stylish and cosy. Perfect surroundings, we were able to star gaze at night and explore Skye and it’s spectacular scenery in the day. Perfect location for a couple wanting to have some peaceful time away together. Will definitely go back!

    Roísín&Ross2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Airbnb experience from start to finish! This perfectly formed little studio kept us toasty and warm from the battering winds outside. It's a lovely, relaxing place that is very well thought out. The open space with the woodburner and the big double door feels open, but very private, with an excellent view of the wild land/seascape beyond. The kitchen and dining area has everything you need and we had a very nice steak dinner with oven roast vegetables etc without a fuss. A small kitchen is easier to tidy up! The bathroom with composting toilet and walk in shower was spotless and the heated towel rail works quickly. (If you haven't used a compositing toilet before, it doesn't smell at all and it's eco friendly. It has clever fans that extract any smells! No risk of being woken by a flush in the middle of the night!) The bedroom is lovely and cosy. A window by the bedside allows cool air in and the space can be completely blacked out for a great sleep. The Harris Tweed curtains keep the bedroom cool if the living area is toasty. We didn't get to explore the surrounding area but we know it well, loads of great things to do and see. If you're a couple looking for a perfect hideout/ place to relax, whether you've spent the day playing Scrabble or climbing munros, don't hesitate and book if you can!

Greyhound Cottage is an ideal base for exploring Skye with many things to see and do close by. It is perfect for couples, families (including dogs) or groups of friends.
Greyhound Cottage is situated on the shore of Loch Harport and has great views down the loch towards the Red Cuilin Hills.
Greyhound cottage is situated on the loch side of Carbost, with splendid sea views. It is two doors along from The Old Inn which is open all year and serves breakfast lunch and dinner along with fine ales. It has music on twice a week in the winter months and more often in the summer. Talisker Distillery just 500m down the road and Skye Spa Therapies is just opposite the cottage and offers beauty and massage treatments. The Cuillin Ridge is just 9 miles away with walks starting from Glenbrittle beach or Sligachin, including The Fairy Pools.
  • Greyhound Cottage is an outstanding place to stay. Well equipped and clean with beautiful views of loch Harport and the mountains . Ideally placed for a peaceful break but with a great inn serving good food next doors. Mary Ann is a friendly and welcoming host.

    Beth2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Greyhound cottage is clean and homely - full kitchen and a great shower! Check in and check out were really smooth and hosts were friendly and communicative via Airbnb messaging. Would definitely stay again!

  • We had a lovely time staying at Mary-Anne and Angus' place. It's a beautiful wee cottage overlooking the water in Carbost, right next to the Old Inn and well located on the island for driving around. Mary-Anne is lovely and will go out of her way to make sure you are comfortable :)

    Danielle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Easily my favourite Airbnb so far! We were so cosy and comfortable here, the cottage is spacious with big comfy sofas and beds and we slept really well because it's so quiet. Carbost is a great location for seeing the island, and the pub next door is a massive asset - really friendly and great to be able to get a tasty well priced meal after a long day, when most of the other dog friendly places we showed up to hoping to eat were shut with no notice (off season and all that). It was a pleasure meeting Mary-Anne, comms were easy and thoughtful and it was nice knowing she was nearby if we needed anything. We're so glad we chose Greyhound Cottage :)

    Kate2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 days in Carbost on the essential Isle of Skye in the pretty house of Mary Anne and Angus. The view from the cottage is magnificent and the location is perfect on the island: fairly central, about 20 minutes from Portree by car, and close to beautiful walks. Mary Anne and Angus gave us addresses and recommendations for our stay, and remained very available if necessary. I highly recommend !

    Lisa2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for the distillery which is a must do and The Oyster Shed which seafood is fabulous. Shame the local pub was closed but plenty of usual local choice to fill up with naughties to enjoy in the comfort of the cottage and enjoy the views over the lock. Comfy, very clean and warm. Mary-Anne was really friendly and thoughtful bringing over candles and a torch in case of a power cut due to storm Brendan but all was ok. Very welcome break to blow away the stresses of city work. Would stay there again if we go back to Skye. Thanks

  • Greyhound cottage was lovely, great value for money and everything we needed. Mary-Anne met us on arrival to make sure everything was ok. Beautiful location on the loch in the small village of Carbost and easy to reach where we wanted to go on Skye. I would highly recommend a stay at the cottage.

  • This was such a fabulous airbnb experience! Bruce and Alison went more than the extra mile to make our trip as seamless and enjoyable as possible. As outdoor, adventure oriented travellers we were on the hunt to enjoy some of the less travelled trails in the highlands and as soon as we mentioned it to our hosts they gave us lists of ideas and suggestions (which were all fantastic!). The accommodations itself is easy to find, on a quiet, beautiful road that is peaceful, with stunning views. It is perfect for two people and is equipped with absolutely everything you need!

  • If you‘re are looking for a place to stay on Skye, which is in reach of many great locations and at the same time a very quiet place, you‘re absolutley right. A perfect place for two, very clean, with a well equipped kitchen. The host awaited me at the day of my arrival, to give a short introduction about the location. If I‘ll stay again at the Isle of Skye, this would be my first choice again.

  • We go to Skye 3 times a year. The studio was lovely and comfortable. We like to do out own cooking and everything was to hand to do this. Its lovely spot and we loved sitting at the table by the window looking at the spectacular view that Storm Dennis provided! We had a power outage on the day after our arrival when the Island was hit by a massive electrical storm. Craig was waiting for us when we returned to the studio having been out all day and were not aware of the lightening strike, with candles, torches and a primus stove and kettle and gave us regular updates regarding when the power was likely to be back on. This was the advantage of having the owner close by to look out for us. Had it been a management company we would have been on our own with no idea of what was happening. Would definitely stay again, particularly as a warm welcome was given to our dog Bella with welcome treats, and special towels. Thank you

    Mark2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tereska and Craig are great hosts. The studio was amazing, very clean and had everything you would like. Also due yo the island being quite remote it was very helpful to get very accurate info before arriving there such as hot to get to the place exactly, shops and cafes nearby etc. Due to the weather being quite bad they were very thoughtful and even brought us candles and a gas hob in case of a power cut. Would totally recommend a stay here. ❤️

  • Great place with everything you need for a quiet getaway. Great local knowledge and good tips, lots of thought put into the welcome pack. Amazing views just outside your window and private space for us to let our dog out. We had a great time!

    Andrew2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and everything you need for a stay in Skye. Lots of information on the surrounding area. Private garden area was great for the dog and location was ideal for our trip.

  • Beautiful quiet location. Spectacular view. Very well appointed and cosy space. Also a warm welcome from Craig and Tereska. Normally we like to try new places but would definitely stay again. Thanks!

  • The accommodation was the best equipped self Catering stay we've ever had. Wifi music, fire stick, tv and DVDs for dreary, rainy days -we were lucky to only get one of those! . Every utensil you could need for cooking in house, all very clean and well maintained. Its not huge so don't expect a mansion but perfectly sized for the two of us and our Jack Russell, Pixie who had a whale of a time. Stunning walks here, there and everywhere. Its a long way from us but the drive through the Highlands is beautiful, so not a complaint. New additions on the way of wood burner mainly for effect as heating was cosy enough for us. Also in the pipeline a drying room with washing facilities, an excellent idea. The accommodation was fab, with the surrounding countryside, scenery, wildlife and sheer awe inspiring spectacle that is the Isle of Skye all of these will definitely bring us back to Craighaven and Skye in the future. Highly recommended.

The Lodge is our most popular destination all year round. A wooden chalet with a woodburner at the end of the living room, ideal for a romantic get...
The Lodge was built by a local crofter in about 2006. The location was chosen as it is one of the most delightful on Skye for views and peace. Brother's point is a local beauty spot, on a clear day you can see across to the mainland across the sea and on a good day about 50-70 miles into the mountains. This is a great place to come as a couple, the living room is open plan to the kitchen and dining area with comfortable furniture and a woodburning stove at the end of the room. The kitchen is fully equipped with wooden work surfaces, washing and drying machine, dishwasher utensils etc. Equipped with free Wifi, sky TV, linen and sheets you won't want for very much when you get here. Well, maybe some more time to stay and enjoy it! The Lodge offers a certain something that makes people come back again and again.Perhaps it is the views, location, cosiness, quality throughout, who knows. We love it and are sure you will too. Pet Friendly - Pets are allowed in this property but they will be charged at £10 per night per pet to a maximum of 3 pets. We kindly ask if you can keep your pet off the furniture and beds for the duration of your stay. Must be crated or kenneled if left unattended, and must be on a current veterinarian approved flea & tick treatment.
  • Really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the lodge. It was my first time on Skye and it couldn't have gone any better!! There were plenty of books left in the accommodation on local walking routes which was a great touch and we used them to plan our daily walks. One great walk right from the doorstep of the lodge is 'Brother's Point' which could be done in all weathers (thankfully!). Its only a short drive to 'Old Man of Storr' and the 'Quiraing' - great location for exploring the Trotternish peninsula which seemed more accessible for inexperienced hill walkers during the winter months than the Cuillins for instance. Once you got the log fire going the place really heated up but could be cold in the mornings - but this didn't bother us - got us up and dressed quickly! The kitchen is kitted out with everything you'd need to make your own meals and we used it every night bar one where we ventured into Portree. We can't wait to return to Skye!! Martin & Mhari

  • What a beautiful place with amazing scenery. Fabulous finish inside and all the conveniences you would want. Tumble drier was a must with the rain we had(!). Bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in..and couldn’t wait to get out each day to explore the surrounding area. Definitely would return

    Vicki2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge is simply beautiful. Huge big bed to snuggle up from the cold in. Lovely lounge area to relax, okay cards, watch movies and cuddle up with a glass of wine. Thanks for our welcome bottle!!! Great kitchen space to prepare all our meals and lovely dining area to eat in. Washing machine and dryer to clean clothes after exploring Skye. Hot shower, warm throughout with added bonus of Log Burner with plenty fuel to keep us toasty all evening. Beautiful location close to Portree for supplies. Couldn’t of been more perfect! Once our kids are all grown up we’ll be spending Christmas & New Year here together! Thanks for having us.

    Virginia2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a cute cottage! My fiance and I couldn't get over how cute the space was and how beautiful the view was! We loved waking up to sheep in the yard and looking over the rolling hills of Scotland! The wood stove kept us warm and cozy! It was great having a kitchen to cook ourselves meals in as well. If we ever come back to Scotland we would love to stay here again!

The Airigh (pronounced 'arry) at the Black House was designed by award-winning architects Dualchas to provide peaceful self catering accommodation for two. • Amazing space in an amazing location. Prefect for the ferry and ideal if exploring the rest of Skye. Modern, clean and cosy and the view was unreal, didn't feel the need to turn on the TV once. Great stay

  • Cordelia and Julien were incredible hosts, the house is really easy to locate, immaculately clean and they have great knowledge of local amenities. We were really interested in their annex/home and how they built them and they gave us so much information and things to think of. The views really are just like the pictures, you can sit there and watch the day go by as the weather changes. The house has everything you would possibly want and is really spacious and warm. The fire is great! They were great at responding to messages and flexible with our arrival. We hugely recommend this place to stay for visitors to Skye (we took the ferry over from Mallaig following driving up from Glasgow - which is a really easy and straight forward journey). Thanks to you both for our wonderful stay!

    Arek2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. The house itself is incredibly stylish and comfortable but it is the views that set this place apart. Spectacular.

    Melanie2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Breath taking views, easy check in and a super friendly host

    Dean2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. The house is beautiful and cosy with everything you could possibly need including a great shower, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and underfloor heating. The bits that make it extra special are the wood burner and incredible views of Skye - we whiled away our mornings just drinking coffee with the fire on and looking out at the ever changing scenery. Cordelia was a lovely host, responsive, helpful and friendly. We can’t recommend it highly enough, and we’re already planning our return trip to this is little gem.

Cosy, comfortable, peaceful wee hut for 2 on a family-run croft at the foot of the Quiraing. 15 minutes drive to Storr and Rubha Huinish walks and 30 minutes to Portree. Close by are 2 shops, 1 of which has fuel pumps. You'll have your own parking, private deck and shower room as well as tea&coffee making facilities and a well-stocked welcome pack for your first night but most importantly uninterrupted views over the bay to the mainland with only our sheep as neighbours.
Our wee hut is...well...wee! It is a bedroom and bathroom only, with room for 2. But it is light and airy with the wall facing the sea made up of 2 big windows and a glass door. The bedroom has a comfy double bed with views overlooking Staffin bay and the mainland in the distance. In the bedroom is a portable dvd player, tea&coffee making facilities and a drop leaf table as well as 2 fold-out chairs tucked away under the bed for when you need them. We also offer free Wi-Fi. Through the sliding wood door is the neat little en-suite with power shower and a small sink as well as underfloor heating for the colder months! Outside is a lovely wee deck nestled into the hillside where you can sit and relax with only our cat and sheep for neighbours. If you're lucky in winter, you can also catch the Northern Lights! There are no cooking facilities in our Hut although there are plenty of wonderful places to eat out just a short drive from us, in Portree, and we welcome guests to bring camp stoves. We provide all bedding, towels and toiletries. We, however, do not provide a hairdryer and do not offer a daily cleaning service. Also note that we are 20 miles North of Portree. Coming here will require a 30 minute drive from Portree. We are situated on a small working croft away from the hustle and bustle of busy Portree, in the middle of nature.
Glasphein is a peaceful, remote township within the village of Staffin, 20 miles North of Portree. We are at the foot of the famous Quiraing and 2 miles from Staffin beach where you can find dinosaur footprints! The Old Man of Storr is a 15 minute drive and you'll pass it on the way here if you're coming from Portree. Rubha Huinish walk is also a 15 minute drive, heading North - a beautiful walk with a bothy at the end to sit and whale watch - stunning! A few busses pass daily with 2 bus stops a very short walk from the Hut.
  • You won’t regret staying here! It’s an adorable, homey space, and Emma is wonderful host. She checked in on us and responded so quickly. Absolutely perfect and was plenty warm despite the winterish weather we had. We can’t wait to come back!!!

Red Mountain Cottage is beautifully and quietly situated on the edge of Carbost village, with stunning views overlooking Loch Harport and towards the Cuillin Mountains. This is a small, modern, but very well appointed cottage/cabin has been lovingly created to a high specification, including handmade beds and sills and a feature wall. The cottage sleeps 4, but is ideal for couples seeking a romantic break, as well as for sight-seeing, walking, climbing, fishing, mountain biking and kayaking.
The cottage is equipped for a maximum of 4 guests. The cottage is double glazed throughout and is heated by modern electric wall heaters. Twenty minutes walk from home is the famous Oyster Shed and farm shop, where you can enjoy a variety of reasonably priced sea food, including locally caught lobster, langoustine, mussels or scallops. The major walking and climbing routes are just a short drive away or maybe you would prefer to kayak in the loch. There are wildlife or fishing boat trips available from Carbost in the summer season, as well as from Elgol (stunning drive) and Portree. Within 20 minutes or less, guests can visit the lovely Fairy pools, Glenbrittle and Talisker beaches, Dunvegan Castle or the peaceful Glen Eynort. There are mountain bike trails nearby. There is a small but perfect cinema at The Aros Centre (also a music venue and visitor centre with a cafe and little indoor play area for small children). The Aros is situated just before you reach Portree. If you would like to join in a Scottish Ceilidh then you can do so at the Sligachan hotel on most Saturdays in the tourist season. From the cottage, we regularly see Sea/ White Tailed Eagles, Golden Eagles, Hen Harriers and herons. If you are lucky, you may see otters in the loch. When the mackerel are in, you might see porpoises or dolphins.
  • I can’t say enough about this place. We were planning a trip to Scotland and wanted to see Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and finish at Isle of Skye. When I saw Linda’s and Allen’s Airbnb listing in my online search I immediately fell in love and the place did not disappoint in person. We visited in March and the weather was gloomy and rainy but the views were breathtaking anyway. Linda and Allan’s hospitality was exceptional and the place was clean, specious, and filled with all the amenities you would need. One random detail that I absolutely loved was the water pressure. Everywhere else we stayed had little to no pressure and showers were not a pleasant experience. This was by far our best Airbnb on this trip and I would highly recommend. We were very sad to check out and will greatly miss this little cottage.

  • Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we weren’t able to stay at Linda and Allan’s place but Linda went above and beyond organising alternative accommodation. She took time to research for us which we appreciated so much. Throughout our trip Linda also messaged with tips for around the island and the village, including opening times of shops etc and also to see how we were. We could see Linda and Allan’s house from the village it is the perfection location we felt as it’s so close the village which has a pub and shop and is a short drive to local tourist spots. It is a beautiful house they have and we would love to come stay in future!

  • The view is STUNNING! The cottage is cozy, clean and well equiped, perfect for four persons. Linda and Allan gave us all the information we needeed to come and enjoy our stay. They took great care of us during the storm and made everything easy for us. We recommend this place! The view is beautiful ! The cottage is charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped, perfect for 4 people. Linda and Allan were very attentive and gave us all the practical information for our arrival and our stay. We had a storm and they were considerate. We highly recommend this place.

  • Linda was the most wonderful host who welcomed us with open arms. It really was a home away from home. The personal touches were so special. We felt safe and very welcome. We arrived late evening and Linda still took the time to show us all of the wonderful places on the map to visit. Very pleased with the air B and B and highly recommend.

  • This is a wonderful little home away from home, nestled in the countryside just south of Portree. The location suited us perfectly: we were able to drive into town within 10 minutes and we could wander down to the coast in three. It’s an old property so has electric heating and a fire in the living room (which we didn’t use in July) but has thick stone walls and would be very cosy in the winter. There’s no WiFi and minimal phone signal, so it’s the perfect place to get-away from it all. The seating outside the front of the property gives you a great view of the coast and the hills across the water on Raasay, and the lounge-kitchen is cosy and rustic, and has pretty much all you need. We loved staying here and it was a great base to explore Skye from.

A cosy, open-plan cabin for two overlooking the sea with outstanding views north to the Outer Hebrides; east beautiful Loch Snizhort, south views to Raasay and the mainland; and the ferry port of Uig and Trotternish Mountains behind. The accommodation comprizes a lounge area, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, toilet/shower room, and double bed on the mezzanine standing room restricted, wifi, plenty of books, maps and DVDs, No TV. Good mobility is required to access the mezzanine floor.
The Cabin is compact but has a great feeling of space inside. It has a marine theme with its furnishings, artwork, some of its wall lights and boaty staircase. There are also a few objects originally from old boats. The Cabin is on a working croft and lies within its own garden and next to the croft house.
The surrounding area is a quiet crofting community along a single track road next to the sea and the countryside also makes the Cabin an ideal centre for walking or off road cycling, with paths through the forestry or out to the lighthouse on Waternish Point. Boat trips are available nearby at Stein, or Portree and farther South from Carbost and Elgol.
  • This cabin is so cute and filled with lovely little touches that give it some much character. The setting is perfect as well with stunning views of the coast and, at night, a lovely little skylight by the bed to stargaze from.

  • We had a lovely time in Skye. The area is very remote, but scenery is gorgeous and well worth the timely driving to and from places! Make sure to have a Sat Nav but more importantly follow Kathy's advice re directions to the house!

    Eleanor2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a lovely stay in the cabin. We loved it from the moment we arrived from the beautiful location to the design and warmth of the building. That feeling only improved as we spent more time in the cabin. It's been so well designed and everything has been thought of. Lots of helpful information in the binder about the cabin itself and the local area. We were torn between spending more time inside or exploring the island. Kathy was very prompt with information and responses after booking and Gareth was very friendly and helpful on checking in.

    Tom2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place is very tidy and has everything you need for a multi-day getaway -- all the amenities provided for like it's your home. We did not meet Kathy but she was very responsive over messaging, and Gareth helped us check in. Everything else was addressed in the binder and brochures provided. We'll definitely come back again and maybe stay for a few days longer.

    Stephanie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy’s place was the best home we stayed in of all of Scotland. We loved the remoteness of the place and the sound of the wind beating against the cozy cottage at night. The place is quite obscure but once you reach the small town of Geary, follow her directions and you’ll find the place just fine. Kathy was a really responsive host and her and her family were welcoming, providing us with tips about the area. Would definitely stay there again!

    Gwen2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's cabin is a little magical retreat, where you can forget about all your worldy problems. Yet it is equipped with everything that you need. And rest assured that you will be welcomed by the nicest people!

    Christof2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in a picturesque location on Skye. Perfect for two, more than enough space and lovely to have the option to cook and self cater. Lots of lovely little extra touches that helped us make the most of the island. The views from the cabin are heavenly and it's a great location to visit a lot of the attractions in the north. Hosts were friendly and informative about the area. Would definitely stay again!

    Elizabeth2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Kathy’s cabin was amazing. Everything was so easy. Super cute and comfortable cabin, the kitchen perfect for cooking if you don’t want to travel for food. We struggled to connect to WiFi but 4G reception was great so we were able to plan trips etc. Cabin was perfectly clean and had a helpful folder full of information we might need about the island. Would definitely recommend Kathy’s place to anyone visiting, and would definitely return myself. Loved it!

A two room apartment ten minutes walk from Portree town centre and harbour with range of local amenities from top class restaurants to sea eagle trips. A great location from where you can explore the beautiful and magical Isle of Skye...
Our place is a two room apartment with small garden with sensational views over Portree and the top of The Storr in the distance. We have every facility you need for stays ranging from a couple of days to a week. There is ample free parking and it is a seven minute walk down the centre of Portree. Being in the centre of Skye makes it an ideal base to explore the rest of this beautiful island.
The Isle of Skye was voted in 2017 as the most desirable place to live in the United Kingdom. It is much bigger than people imagine and contains some of the most stunning and beautiful scenery in the world. It consistently makes the top ten of places to visit around the world. One of it's main attractions is it's remoteness and while some of the famous attractions like castles and distilleries, might get busy with tourists, you can always find somewhere off the beaten path to enjoy your own company.
  • Really very good and lovely place !!!! And Perfect hosting! It was nice because it was cozy, tidy and independent. The room is pretty and tidy. The mart was close by, so it was a great place to eat and live. It was a very good hostel except for the weak water pressure. It was the best on the trip.

The Boathouse sits on the very edge of the loch with extensive views across to the island of Raasay, the Storr, the Trotternish & more. It's conveniently located in the centre of the island, a very peaceful retreat and somewhere to relax & take in the views. It's ideally suited people wanting to stay a while & really see Skye, go walking, swimming take boat trips, watch wildlife, learn about the islands etc Skye is so much more than a road trip.
Glamiag, named after the mountain behind the house and is our smallest and cosiest room. It does have a very comfortable double bed, a chest of drawers and a large cupboard for hanging clothes and keeping your bags in. It is however, a squeeze but if you like compact this is your room. You can easily access the spacious bathroom with a separate shared (with managers) bath and shower and underfloor heating. The Boathouse's position enjoys the beauty of the coast with the majesty of the Cuillin mountains. The Inner Sound and several islands provide a panorama to the front whilst the Red Cuillin hills are behind the house. Wildlife is abundant with otters visiting the beach most evenings. Seals and sometimes Minke whales and Dolphins can be seen swimming out to sea and a wide range of birds (both resident and migrating). Lately we have been seeing Sea Eagles on an almost daily basis. The Boathouse is a photographer's and artist's delight with stunning sunrises and sunsets, moody clouds, hills and mountains. Climbers and hillwalkers will love the Cuillin range with it's challenging ridge traverse, scrambles and rock climbs. Adrian and Bridgette are keen walkers and climbers and always happy to give help or advice. Iconic locations nearby include the Fairy Pools, the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, Kilt Rock, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point, Talisker Bay and Elgol. The Boathouse it's own private car parking, gardens, lawns, children's play area, a pier and access to the beach.

  • Bridgette and Adrian were wonderful hosts. They were prompt in their responses and gave us plenty of information about drives, eat out recos and places even before we reached. And a day before our check in they even offered us a complimentary upgrade to a separate room with a sit out overlooking the Loch. We loved our stay here. The location was perfectly central for us to explore all sides of Skye and the house was perfectly located by the Loch giving us gorgeous views and drives. I would recommend this place to everyone. • Great little spot that is convenient for exploring Skye. The bathroom and guest room were sparkling clean. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate were in the room, which was great for starting and ending the day. It poured while I was on Skye and Bridgette was super amazing and helped me dry out my soaked shoes and clothes. I would be happy to stay there again.

  • Bridgette was a wonderful host and we would absolutely recommend staying with her if you are looking for accommodation in the area. The room is small (as advertised) but cozy and had everything we needed for our two night stay. Bridgette provided great recommendations as well, which was helpful in a place known for tourist hotspots crowded with people. And you can't beat the view!

In the meantime, stay safe, stay home, wash your hands and use the time to plan your future trip to Skye. Thank you.
The Strawbale Bothy is made from simple, natural materials; wood, clay, straw and lime, there are no nasty chemicals, no concrete, and where we have had to use plastic, it is to an absolute minimum. A perfect place for two to slow down and watch the view. We’re sure you will love the feel of staying in a natural home, the softness of the clay plaster walls, the luminous light of the lime washed shower room and the warmth of local larch wood. There is a light and airy living area with an electric stove, Bluetooth speaker, books and games to keep you entertained if you get bored of the stunning views over to the hills of Knoydart. There is a small kitchen area with induction hob, combination microwave oven, washer dryer and all the other things you would expect to find. There is a cosy box bed, dressed with a duck down duvet, soft, relaxed French linen and Egyptian cotton. From your bed you can stare at the stars at night or watch the sunrise in the morning. You also have a spacious en suite shower room with traditional flush toilet. The Strawbale Bothy is exactly what it says, it is a loadbearing strawbale building built on foundations made from car tyres filled with rammed gravel. We’ve tried to make sure this wee building has as low an impact on the planet as possible. We have not used any concrete in its construction, practically everything can be recycled or biodegradable, we've only used plastic where there has been no alternatives or the alternatives are a bit, well - yeuch! Try plastic free showering with handmade soap and solid shampoo by local Scottish artisans. Feel doubly virtuous by washing up and only using natural bristle brushes and cotton dish cloths. Booking and Availability: Covid-19 Coronavirus: It is a worrying, uncertain time so if you are thinking of booking, here are a few points to help you decide: I have made some changes to the Bothy. My place is frequently rated as 'sparkling clean', but I have introduced some additional, non environmentally friendly measures, just to make sure. This includes cleaning with bleach based disinfectants and single use paper cloths. Replacing artisan locally made solid soap with liquid soap in single use plastic bottles (when I can get them). Replacing vintage and handmade crockery and cutlery with dishwasher proof items - all crockery and cutlery goes through a hot wash in a dishwasher between guests. Washing bedlinen and towels at a higher temperature with biological powder. Lining bins with single use plastic liners. My cancellation policy will remain as 'Strict'. However, please check Airbnb's Extenuation Circumstances Policy. This tells you when you can get a full refund if your trip is affected by the Coronavirus. I really believe this to be fair. If you contract the virus, or have to self isolate, or your flights have been cancelled, or the Government has imposed restrictions, or your doctor has advised you not to travel, then you can claim a full refund under the Policy (correct at the time of writing 14 March). Alternatively, if you do book and then decide you would prefer not travel at that time, rather than cancel your trip and possibly lose your money, you could consider changing your dates until later in the year, just request a 'change of dates' and subject to availability, I'd be happy to organise it. If however, you wish to cancel because, for example, the weather is not looking good, then the usual cancellation policy will apply. So, if you are curious about what it would be like to stay in a home made without concrete, bricks and plastic, and stay on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, we would love to meet you.
  • I loved this Bothy. I had such an incredible time here. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, but also to use as a base for exploring Skye, even in winter! The bothy itself had all the things I needed, with little thoughtful and personal touches from Nicola that made it all the more special and relaxing. It is in a great location. Waking up every morning and watching the sunrise over the mountains from the bedroom window, to stargazing outside on a clear evening. It is a beautiful place. Nicola was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, which just made my time at the bothy special and seamless. Her vegan chocolate brownies were also to die for! I will definitely be returning to this bothy!

  • Nicola’s place is lovely, full of thoughtful touches and amazingly clean. It’s a beautiful place to stay if you want a lovely chilled week end away. It’s a very comfortable and cosy place.. you will feel at home straight away. Nicola’s place is located in a lovely spot close to the beach and local amenities. Nicola is a lovely host and was always available if we needed anything. She welcomed us with incredibly tasty cakes and gave us a lot information regarding places to visit. We absolutely loved everything about our stay and would definitely go back again. Thank you Nicola !

  • The Strawbale Bothy is a real authentique detailed and handmade home for all kind of travellers. It's made for two people and if they are not related it could be interesting in the cosy bed. I like the fact, that there is no TV in the bothy and that you recognize the owner in every detail of the bothy. Nicola welcomed us very warm and kindly. We got a very nice talk and she gave us nice tips for our short trip through the Isle. Well, I could write a whole more of the bothy, but at least just this: Go there and fall in love like we did! Thank you Nicola, we will definetly come back again.

    Phil2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely amazing with a stunning view over the sea! We could even sit outside and watch the stairs in the night. Super cosy and well-decorated place with plenty of space for two people, we didn't need anything, everything was just perfect and Nicole was such a lovely host.

    Line2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • My partner and I had such a lovely time at this gorgeous stay. Nicola was really polite and helpful however also gave us our space. The stay itself is in a great location, the view is amazing and inside is so cosy and well made/organised. I have no doubts that anyone else would love this spot. Great flapjacks too.. Oona & Miguel

Stay on the Bay is a lovely new cabin right on the edge of Broadford bay on the Isle of Skye. Our cabin is the perfect space, for two, to relax and enjoy simply stunning sea and mountain views. As well as being within walking distance of local restaurants and bars, the cabin is also very central for exploring all corners of our beautiful island.
Our cabin has an open plan living / dining space with a fully equipped kitchen. Patio Doors open out, from the living and bedroom areas, to the sea where you have a decked area to sit and enjoy taking in the views (and if you are very lucky the local otter). We have a spacious bedroom with a king size bed and ensuite shower room. Lie in bed and watch the boats leaving from the local pier and listen to the sound of the waves. The bedroom also has patio doors and a decked area.
We enjoy a gorgeous location down by the sea right in the heart of Broadford so once you have finished your sight seeing for the day you can park the car and walk to the local restaurants and shops.
  • Loved it from start to finish . The cabin was spotless , very modern and had amazing views. Broadford for us was an ideal location with everything not far away . We will definitely be back to Norma’s cabin as it truly lived up to all expectations. Fantastic host 👍 Five stars from ourselves ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🌟

  • Such a lovely and wonderful place to stay. Norma and Fin are amazing hosts and super helpful. The apartment is well decorated and clean. The mattress was very comfortable which is a huge plus! We were here during a crazy rain and wind storm and their place made us feel warm and cozy! I would highly recommend.

    Shannon2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay in the perfect part of Skye to attack the island. Norma had some great tips and was always there for ideas no matter the conditions. Will be back and recommending to friends.

    Jonathon2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Norma and Finlay's Stay on the Bay was utter perfection. From the quick and easy communication, to the beautifully decorated space and amazing views, to the lovely little touches such as eggs, bread, milk, and even whisky to start our stay with, and even their own Netflix Stay on the Bay account set-up on their TV for us to use while we were there. The place is even more beautiful in person, the pictures don't do it justice. We only wish we could have stayed a lot longer....or just moved in! We'll definitely be back.

    Rachelle2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Stay on the Bay in Broadford was a delight to stay at. Norma was so hospitable and friendly. The accomodation really did make the trip to Skye the most memorable and indulging part of our trip and we will never forget it. Would love to stay here when we come back to Skye in the not so distant future. I would really recommend people to stay here when coming to Skye, the decor and personalised touches made to the the house to make you feel comfortable and at home goes above and beyond. The views are to die for and the easy check in experience made our stay at Stay on the Bay that much easier. Thank you Norma will be back very soon ! ❤

    Bella2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Norma is an incredibly kind host, everything is thought so that we do not miss anything. We have rarely been so well received! The accommodation is very tastefully decorated and enjoys a sea view. We recommend this place to stay, the Isle of Skye is beautiful!

    Caroline2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay while you're travelling around Skye. Way better than staying anywhere else! Fantastic location and place to stay in. Beautiful views from the living room and bed room. It was like living in a modernized cottage in the middle of Skye! Norma was very warming and helpful to us. Thanks for the Christmas gift for us! I only regret not staying here long enough! ❤️

    Tessa &2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb/hotel accommodation I have ever stayed in! It feels homey and luxury at the same time. The views are unbeatable and the location is absolutely perfect. I could not rave about this place enough. The cutest little cafe is near, deli gasta, it’s a must try. Do not pass this stay up!!!

A truly one of a kind private holiday cottage located on the breathtakingly beautiful and mystical Isle of Skye. Dark Skye Cottage offers the perfect romantic getaway for two who want to escape the buzz of everyday life for a holiday on one of Scotland’s most sought after Islands. It offers the perfect balance of seclusion while still only a short walk from one of Skye’s most desirable villages.
Highlights • Modern insulation and underfloor heating make it such a cosy place to relax • Fully equipped modern kitchen • Generous hospitality pack • Gas hob and electric oven • Dishwasher • Washing machine and dryer • Giant infinity roll top bath in the bedroom • Walk in power shower • All luxury linen and towels provided • Hair dryer • TV in bedroom • Both the siting room and bedroom TV’s have full Sky package (including Movies and Sports) and a chromecast. You can even watch the TV when in the bath if you wish! • Bluetooth soundbar with Spotify access • Free wifi • Adjustable mood lighting in all rooms Bedroom The luxurious open plan bedroom has a stunning oak sleigh king size bed made up with luxury egyption cotton bedding. The bed is somewhat eclipsed by the roll top bath that has a beautiful view of Broadford Bay. The unique step into the bath was made from one of the Island’s Scots Elm trees that sadly came down in a storm several years back. It was harvested by a friend who also runs a local sawmill. We handpicked a section of the tree that best suited the shape of the step. After several years drying, it was crafted to create a simply stunning entrance that borders the bath. The large pebbles and stones which surround the bath are from one of our favourite beaches where we spent many days playing as kids. Luxury fluffy towels and dressing gowns are provided along with Isle of Skye soaps and bath bombs. As well as the bath the bedroom also has a ensuite walk in power shower. There is a TV in the bedroom with a full Sky package along with a bluetooth speaker. Lounge The lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring Skye or to chill out on a rainy day. The cosy couch is a lovely spot to sit and admire the view of Beinn na Caillich and Broadford Bay. The adjustable lighting is great for setting the mood. The TV has a full Sky package with access to Netflix and Spotify. There are also several board games and jigsaws for those lazy days as well as guide books and OS maps to help plan your days out on the island. We are always a phone call away for recommending any nice walks – there are plenty places we can show you that are off the tourist track. Kitchen An extensively equipped modern kitchen with coffee machine, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob and fridge freezer. We also provide a generous hospitality pack on arrival. The breakfast bar is a bespoke design. We managed to source a couple of Talisker whisky barrels and upcycled them to create a simple one off stunning cladding. The adjustable lighting really sets it off. If you want a break from cooking there are also takeaway menus and restaurant recommendations within the welcome book. Upstairs The house has a great upstairs space that we have made into a chill out area/study. It has very comfy Cloud bean bags, a hanging swing chair and a Swedish style desk with an iMac and printer for guest use. Utility/Drying Room Fully equipped with washing machine and tumble drier. The weather can be quite unpredictable at times on Skye so we provide Barbour jackets and wellies for guests – just incase!
The cottage is ideally placed in the village of Broadford as it is within easy walking distance of local pubs, eating places, shops and restaurants, while it is set in its own private garden grounds. It has ample parking. It is located some 1/4mile from the A87. It enjoys superb open views over Broadford Bay to the magical Island of Pabay, with the heights of Applecross in the background and the Islands of Scalpay, Longay, Crowlins and Guillamon scattered across the waters leading to the mystical Islands of Raasay and Rona, which can be seen to the north. Boating activities at Broadford Pier can be viewed across the Bay, as can magnificent sunsets. Broadford (in Gaelic “An t-Ath Leathann” pronounced Un Taa Layun means “the broad ford”) was formerly a cattle market up until the 19th century and in 1812 Thomas Telford built a road through the village. It then grew rapidly in the first half of the 19th century with the settlement of Napoleonic veterans. It is the second largest village on Skye and a perfect base from which to explore the island and near mainland as it is ideally placed between the spectacular Red Cuillin and the mainland Torridon mountains. Eating Places Whether you decide to eat in, or you choose to eat out, there is plenty of choice nearby. Broadford has a supermarket and a range of small shops, and you will find a list of convenient eating places in the cottage handbook – these range from a Michelin Star restaurant (within 3 miles) to a take-away fish and chip shop, plus local restaurants and pubs (within 1 mile).
  • Fiona and Gordon have created a peaceful retreat just moments from whatever you may need in town. Their thoughtful design and decor make Dark Skye Cottage a wonderful getaway, and their hospitality is unparalleled. The welcome basket and flowers were beautiful touches, and the house book with instructions was fantastic. I love that you support local artists, and that you made it easy for us to recycle and keep the place as tidy as possible. We encourage anyone thinking of staying here to do so—thank you for everything!

    Aimee2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Dark Skye Cottage in late January, so got a great deal out of season. We arrived to an immaculately clean cottage, with the wonderful under floor heating on so the place was nice and cosy upon arrival. On the way up the road (we were travelling to Skye from Glasgow) Fiona texted me to warn of a possible road closure, which was a very nice thing to do and really adds that "human touch" so often missing in other places. This thoughtfulness was again apparent with the lovely welcome hamper left for our arrival, with some local goodies (I wont spoil the surprise!) and some fresh eggs from their very own croft! Lovely touches that really go a long way. Dark Skye cottage itself is gorgeous - exceptionally well designed, and the attention to detail throughout is very apparent - ergonomically laid out to a high finish, and really well thought out lighting, which can be altered considerably (and easily). There are modern, easy to use appliances and abundant hot water. The cottage is actually far larger than the pictures give the impression of, and there is more than enough room to feel spacious whilst still being cosy and intimate - we felt at home as soon as we walked through the door, which is a great indication of how nice a space it is. It is extremely well insulated and brightly lit in the daylight, with great views from every window. The decoration and artwork is lovely and very tasteful as well - attention to detail in every regard throughout the cottage is outstanding - a lot of thought and design has gone into the building and it really shows. Dark Skye is literally a 5 min drive from the local shops, so getting supplies was quick and easy. Broadford is an ideal central location on Skye and the cottage is immediately at hand - but still far enough removed from the road to feel "away from it all" - so the best of both worlds, close amenities, and also remoteness with nice views - ideal. This is a long review, but I really wanted to give Dark Sky and it's hosts Gordon & Fiona the recognition they all deserve - you will get a first class experience here - in every regard, and the high end location and service really enhances your experience of staying on the island. A real first class experience. We absolutely loved it and will very likely return in the future. If you are swaying as to whether to book it or not, just go ahead and do so - I promise you will love it!

    Nick2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely the perfect location for exploring Skye, with all the amenities you could ask for close by. The house has breath taking views from every window, you’ll never be disappointed. If you’re looking for an adventurous time of sightseeing around the island or just want the ultimate relaxing couples break - look no further. This cottage has it all. Gordon and Fiona have really thought of everything with brilliant touches at every turn, to make you fall further in love. The only problem you’ll ever have here..... is leaving. Thanks for everything Shaun and Elizabeth x

  • Dark Sky cottage is one of the best air bnb we have ever stayed in. It looks just as good as in the pictures and the little touches were amazing. We are already making plans to come back! Thank you Fiona and Gordon!

  • The best place to stay in the Isle of Skye. Beautiful stylish house, perfect location. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Dark Skye Cottage is the perfect base for exploring Skye! The cottage is beautiful, exactly like the photos, and when the weather isn’t in your favour it’s lovely enough that you don’t feel guilty for sheltering in it and enjoying some movies! Our puppy enjoyed running around in the land outside the cottage, and we made full use of the wellies provided during our washout week! Will definitely be staying again and would always recommend. Gordon and Fiona were wonderfully helpful when a lightning storm crashed the WiFi, and definitely make sure check out their brilliant craft beer and gin and whiskey shop on the way out of Broadford, it’s perfect for gifts to bring home! Thanks both. Alex, Lou and Dylan

    Louise2019-10-11T00:00:00Z

  • This place is AMAZING!! We spent our time on Skye delightfully smug about how amazing our accommodation was. We stayed at Kirstie and Gordie's place for 3 nights. It is in a beautiful location and has all the amenities you could need- I think it is better kitted out than my own kitchen! There is plenty of space and you can make some sheep friends. On top of the amazing views and living space, the bed sheets were delightfully soft!

The cottage has direct access to the shore where there is an abundance of wildlife; otters, seals, oystercatchers and herons .If you visit in Spring you may catch sight of lambs crossing to Moorland pasture at low tide. Seaplanes operate from a small nearby airstrip offering trips over the island which affords the most spectacular scenery you will see anywhere. Sunsets afford panoramic views to Raasay, Scalpay and Applecross. Sunsets are truly memorable! Plockton village with its yachts and palm trees and the iconic Eilean Donan castle are a short drive away as is the Michelin starred Kinloch Lodge restaurant. Local shops and the supermarket are approximately 2 miles from the cottage. The popular Red Skye Restaurant is a short walk. All the local tourist information on sea trips to spot dolphins, sea eagles, whales etc. or details of local craft, pottery and art studios is available in the cottage. There are also books and maps on local walking and climbing trips. The cottage has private parking but due to its shore side location we regret that it is not suitable for disabled access. Robert and Janet would be delighted to welcome you to this special place on this beautiful island.

  • Perfect little cottage for a couple, incredibly spacious with everything you desire from roll top bath to log burner. We were visiting Skye during Storm Dennis and it was such a lovely place to come home to after a days walking in gale force winds. Will definitely be back!

  • Fantastic romantic bolt hole for two in an idyllic location on Syke. We came for three nights on our baby moon and had the most relaxing wonderful time. The house is even better than the lovely pictures and is perfectly set up. The bath tub is divine. Check in was easy and Janet was very helpful and quick to reply to messages. We had a delightful (albeit somewhat expensive!) evening at Kinloch Lodge which was nearby - would highly recommend. Looking for an opportunity to return and have already recommended to friends!

  • Really satisfying stay at Janet’s place. Janet and Robert are the best hosts ever! We didn’t have a car but Janet and Robert took time driving us to the supermarket and brought us on a trip to Portree. The view outside tidal cottage is 100/100. Serene, lovely, beautiful and the color is ever changing during the day. We absolutely love hearing the birds sing.

An original Skye Croft House, overlooking Loch Harport & views to the Cuillins. Its just a three minute drive from the village of Carbost with its Old Inn & the Talisker Distillery, furnished with my mix of old with modern & of course the essential log fire
Bright, , not a drop of tartan in sight, a calm house with lots of space for 4, room enough for the children inside and a private garden for them to burn off energy,, for older kids and adults the land all around is open access, just remember its "working" land so you will share it with sheep!
Absolute silence, the constantly changing light on the water and mountains.
  • Great location with stunning views. Carbost has a great little coffee shop and a local fish and oyster shop. House is very clean and warm. Loved our stay on Skye.

    Louise2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. A wonderful hideaway in a great location.

    Alexander2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Grant's place on Skye is really lovely - cosy, warm and welcoming. There are amazing views from the living room to the hills opposite, loch and to the Cuillin, and lovely comfy chairs to enjoy it all from. The location is perfect, and there are nice places to visit in Carbost and nearby, and it is also a great base from which to visit the further places in Skye, knowing that you'll return to a warm cottage at the end of the day. Grant provided plenty of logs and kindling, and was very kind and responsive during my stay. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Skye. Thanks Grant!

    Lorna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great stay at Grant's place. We were there during Storm Dennis, which included there being a lightning strike which knocked the power out in the whole village for about 5 hours. Grant messaged straight away to check we were ok - we got the wood burner going and had a nice cosy evening by the fire! The house is lovely, really spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Had everything we needed, really good cooking equipment etc. Even though we were there when it was pretty cold outside, it was always lovely and warm when the heating was on or the fire was lit. We'd definitely recommend the cottage, and might look to come back again (maybe when there are fewer weather warnings out..!)

  • Outstanding property in a fantastic location: there are sea views from every room. A thoughtful conversion of a traditional croft, with stylish decor and original touches: modern, but cosy at the same time. This place is very special, one of the best holiday-let properties I’ve stayed in, anywhere. Thank you Grant, had a great short break, hope to return soon.

  • If you can book this awesome place then you have won the lottery. 5 stars on all points. We could have stayed another week.
