“Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is the newest and most iconic landmark of the Korean design industry. Located at the center of the Dongdaemun area, the DDP will serve as a key venue for design-related shows and conferences, exhibitions, and other events and gatherings. The Dongdaemun History & Culture Park is the newest park in downtown Seoul. The park gives a glimpse of how the area was once used as a military training ground during the Joseon dynasty. “Namdaemun Market is the largest traditional market in Korea with shops selling various goods. All products are sold at affordable prices and the stores in this area also function as wholesale markets. Most of the goods are made directly by the storeowners. Namdaemun Market is even open overnight, from 11:00pm to 4:00am, and is crowded with retailers from all over the country. When day breaks, the site of busy shoppers bustling around the market creates a unique scene that attracts tourists worldwide. Namdaemun Market sells a variety of clothes, glasses, kitchenware, toys, mountain gear, fishing equipment, stationery, fine arts, accessories, hats, carpets, flowers, ginseng, and imported goods.”

“From Bonghwasan, hot spots in Seoul aren’t too difficult to reach. Transfer to line 1 at Dongmyo and you can be in Jongno in about 20 minutes. This is the richest spot in Seoul in my opinion. So many old castles and retro fun! 20-30 minutes on the subway will also take you to Gwangjang Market. I recommend the market as well as the neighboring Cheonggyecheon Stream. The Euljiro District is also in this area. You’ll find many hidden bars and cafes here in Seoul’s oldest district. Nicknamed “Hip-jiro,” it’s very unique. ”

“ Dongdaemun Market is a large commercial district comprised of traditional markets and shopping centers that covers the entire area around Dongdaemun Gate, a prominent landmark in Korea. It is Korea’s largest wholesale and retail shopping district featuring 26 shopping malls, 30,000 speciality shops, and 50,000 manufacturers. All kinds of goods can be found here including silks and fabric, clothes, shoes and accessories, electronics, leather goods, sporting goods, office supplies, pet products and toys. Although Dongdaemun Market is traditionally famous for its night market, this popular shopping district attracts hordes of shoppers and tourists at all times of day. Like Namdaemun Market, Dongdaemun Market sells a variety of products, but unlike Namdaemun Market, it is open 24-hours a day.”

“These historic little villages represent our ancestors fight against Japan during the end of Joseon dynasty. Most of houses were taken by Japanese and torn up to change to Japanese style house. Se guen, Jeong developed Iksun area to build Hanok village against pressure of Japan. He also supported Korean language society (last society to keep Korean language while Japan wanted to destroy.) during Japanese colonial era so we would not celebrate the beauty of Hanok villages in Seoul and Hangul( Korean language ) without him. Although most of shops closed at night in Insadong, Iksun dong is open till 10-12 pm. It is walking distance from the flat. Many shops, restaurants and pubs are there so you can just stroll around and choose one to visit.”
