You will help us free fly our falcons on the cliffs of La Jolla at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, a National Historical Place and beloved landmark. In our Experience, offered through Total Raptor Experience San Diego, you'll learn how to call and release one of our trained birds using a falconry glove, and admire their aerial skills while they soar above the cliffs. You'll get an up-close and personal view of their mastery of flight as they perform simulated hunting behaviors, swooping, ground-skimming and diving at high speed after a moving target. At the same time we will discuss raptor flight styles and how they contribute to the diverse ecologies of different types of hawks and falcons. There will be plenty of time for questions and pictures with our birds. My hope is to send you home with a new, or perhaps renewed, love for these majestic predators and the environment. Message before booking We will fulfill your experience on the beautiful coastline of San Diego California, where we will meet you with a great attitude and positive energy. We will provide you with a surfboard, full instruction, photos, videos and a great time out in the water. We will start on the sand, where we will greet each other and get to know your learning style and comfortability in the water. We will then proceed to getting you accommodated with the proper surfboard and wetsuit if you would like to wear one. We will then give you a full demo on the sand showing you how to properly catch a wave. After the demo is complete, we will then progress into the water when you have confirmed that you are comfortable. We will remain in the water for the rest of the lesson, as we will stay shallow and progress at your own comfortability. Water instruction will consist of us gently pushing you into waves as I will monitor your progress and cater to any questions that you may have. We will grab our camera and capture great quality water photos of you catching the waves. Safety is the number one emphasis of our experience, as we will go over water safety and make sure that everyone is fully alert, comfortable, and ready to have a fun time. Take a break from the hectic pace of life, back to "A Simpler Time" where you can unplug and de-stress enjoying the peaceful country setting and gentle ways of the alpaca. I will meet you in the driveway, along with our "greeter" dogs Max and Molly, and guide you down the country road to where you will meet the alpacas. Alpacas are very gentle animals and you will have the opportunity to go in with them to hand feed grain and take pictures with them. Meanwhile you will learn about the care of the alpacas, what they like and don't like and have an opportunity to get your questions answered. Next, we will make our way over to the barn which houses our fiber mill where you will see the process of how to make yarn from the fiber we collect after shearing the alpacas. We will wrap up our tour in our ranch store where you will have time to shop for items made from the luxuriously soft alpaca fiber, aka "the affordable cashmere". Plan on an hour or an hour and a half depending on the size of the group. All ages are welcome, children under 2 are free. La Jolla Bay is a Marine Protected Area that is home to a thriving ecosystem that boasts a high concentration of sea life, has a natural boat launch, which allows safe ocean entry year-round, and is famous for its Sea Caves and Marine Reserve. No experience is required. Great for all skill levels. Your guide will kick things off with a paddle tutorial on the beach. If surf exists, we will help push your kayak through any breakers. As we paddle through La Jolla’s Marine Reserve keep an eye out for Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphin and Gray whales in the fall/winter. Note: We cannot guarantee sea life. If conditions are safe, we will help guide your kayak into Emerald Cave. If it's not safe to enter Emerald Cave, we will still paddle out & explore La Jolla's World-Famous Marine Reserve. Join me on a journey through one of San Diego's most iconic destinations. Since the Island is large, we will be touring the major sites with the wind in our hair on electric scooters. No walking required ;) We will start by going over the basic operation of the scooters & getting comfortable riding in a quiet open area. From there, I will guide you through some of the most picturesque areas sharing my unique knowledge & history of the Island & pausing for photos. The first stop will be the beautiful Tidelands Park just across the Coronado Bridge where we will take a few pictures. Next, we spend some time exploring the Ferry Landing which has shops, restaurants, & a great view of the downtown skyline. We will then ride across the island through quaint neighborhoods checking out the lavish houses along the way. Once we've made it across the island it's time to stop and see the historic Hotel Del Coronado, the island's crown jewel. You will have some time to explore & walk the property. We will wrap up by riding the beautiful waterfront bike path back to where we started. We will meet at Manchester Nature Preserve in Encinitas. The guests will meet Buttercup and Cotton Candy, our angora goats, feed them treats and then take turns holding the leashes as we walk along the nature preserve trails. This is a scenic hike through the California Sage Brush, with wild flowers (seasonal). While we're walking you can learn about angora goats and goat keeping in general, native plants and foraging, ask questions or simply enjoy their sweet personalities as we walk (or run) along the trail. Contrary to goat yoga this activity is suitable for all ages and does not require special athletic skills. We will end the walk with a mohair spinning and knitting demonstration and enjoy a cold sparkling water. Please note: Goat walking is slightly different from dog walking. Goats like to browse, meaning they regularly stop to nibble on vegetation. This makes the walk fun for them and mimics their natural behavior. Also, just like us humans, there are days when they feel energized and move at a fast pace (usually during cooler weather) and other days when they feel more lazy and want to stop for snacks more often. I do not want or expect my animals to perform like circus animals, instead I adapt to their energy level. For that reason the hiking times and distances do vary. If you have health concerns consider making your goat hike "private."
