Zoo

“The San Diego Zoo is world famous for not only its exhibits but also for its contributions to the natural world. The Zoo, located adjacent to downtown San Diego in Balboa Park, is 100 acres in size. It is well known for its lush, naturalistic habitats and unique animal encounters and is home to more than 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing approximately 660 species and subspecies and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 plants. It is viewed in several ways, first and foremost by walking along pathways, into aviaries, and through bioclimatic zones. There is a 35-minute Guided Bus Tour that gives a good overview of the Zoo.”

“Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is 2,000 acres of coastal state park located in the community of La Jolla, off North Torrey Pines Road. Although it is located within San Diego city limits, it remains one of the wildest stretches of land (8 km²) on the Southern California coast. The reserve consists of a plateau with cliffs that overlook Torrey Pines State Beach, and a lagoon that is vital to migrating seabirds.”

“Just a few exits south on the 5 five freeway and you will be in Old Town! This historic, area was actually California's first settlement! Baseball Stadium
“Located just a stone’s throw away from the Gaslamp Quarter is Petco Park, home of the Padres; San Diego’s Major League Baseball team. Whether you’re a baseball fan or not; Petco Park is worth a visit. Grab a pair of $10 tickets and take in the game from the beach behind center field. Yes we meant to say beach. An area full of sand and bleacher seats may not be the most conventional way to watch nine innings, but where else can you watch an MLB game while sitting on the sand? Petco Park is also known for its amazing behind the scenes tour where you will have access to the press box, dugout, the bullpen, the luxury suites and so much more. Tours run all year around, even on games days and we highly recommend putting this on the top of your list. Cheer on the Padres from the beach or the stands and take in the sights of downtown San Diego.”

Italian Restaurant
“Some of the best pizza and homemade pasta you can eat outside of Italy. It's popular, they don't take reservations. Locals only tip: Call ahead and ask to put your name on the list and ask how long the wait is and then get to the restaurant 10-15 minutes before the table is going to be ready. Saves a lot of wait time! Or, put your name on the list and walk over to Hamilton's bar for a pint of San Diego's finest microbrews.”

New American Restaurant
“Three places in one for the perfect one-stop date night! Make a dinner reservation in advance for just after sunset at the Michelin-starred "California Modern" formal restaurant on the first floor. Get there before well sunset to snag a spot on the third floor "Ocean Terrace" to enjoy a cocktail as you watch a beautiful sky over the La Jolla cove. I like their tropical spin on a G&T served properly with peppercorns! Enjoy a fantastic dinner down below as you watch the sky turn dark. After dinner, complete the circle with a cocktail at "Level2" the craft cocktail lounge. If the night is still young, go next door for live music and more great views at Eddie V's terrace.”
