This cabin sits around the corner from our house and is private from the house is a free standing building. The cabin deck is facing the beach and has wonderful views . The room has a comfy queen bed, a small refrigerator, plug in two hob cooker, microwave, electric fry-pan, toaster, kettle, etc. There is a 42" TV setup for DVDs only, we have with some cult classic kiwi DVDs and many others DVDs . From your room you walk out to the deck facing the beach which has seating, lovely place to relax for two. On the other side of the deck is a cute bathroom. If you have just arrived from Overseas I would suggest you stop in Whangarei to do some shopping perhaps at PACnSAVE or Countdown. We do have a local store with limited supplies or we can help if you arrive late in the day. We have kayaks that you can use. There are several surfing beaches approx. 10 minutes away. If you are a keen fishing person we can guide you to them, just bring your own gear and the store has good bait and good prices. If you wish to bring your own boat there are two boat launching places, one just around the corner the other 10 minutes away. There are some great walks in the area, short and long. We are very close to the Te Araroa - The Long Pathway - which is the walkway through NZ. On our property we have a Maori lookout Pah site which you can walk up to and further enjoy more wonderful views. There are other walks including walking the longest foot bridge in the Southern Hemisphere and visiting the crystal clear lagoon in the area. This is a great place to set up as a base. You can visit other parts of the Tutukaka Coastline which is about 45 minutes south from here and has some great Restaurants and lovely beaches and beach walks. Catch a boat from there to the Poor knights and see this astounding place to snorkel and dive. If you would like to see some local history go to Waitangi which is north just under an hour away and visit the treaty grounds. If you would like to go to Russell is just under an hour away by a very scenic road. There is also the Helena Bay Cafe which has a fantastic collection of only New Zealand art work and a cafe with lovely views open for brunch or a late lunch is only 35 mins away. • What an amazing spot.. if you like getting off the beaten track a bit Tea’s place is amazing. Fantastic outlook over a beautiful beach and everything you need for a good time👍🏻

  • Wow, stunning bay! Beautiful special place not to be missed.

    Jamie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful piece of paradise. Great to visit and enjoy some of the best beach scenery NZ has to offer.

    Glenn2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tea greeted us upon our arrival and was even kind enough to help us bring in a couple bags. The space was even more cozy and stylish than the pictures. But that view in the pictures is spot on! Beach is right out front and provided beautiful swimming and paddling. If you enjoy being a beach bum, this is truly the spot to be! Kitchen has the bare essentials for what you need if you plan to dine in. Tea and her husband also provided a small BBQ grill for us to cook on one of the nights. Otherwise, the one place in the village that does takeaways has some super yummy fish and chips/burgers n stuff. Get groceries though in Whangerei before you head to Whananaki. Not much at local store. Only downside to the location is that it takes an hour to go anywhere else to see/do things apart from a handful of local trails and walks. We also loved the company of Tea's affectionate cat too! Loved feeling like we had our own little slice of heaven for a few days. Only other criticisms are that the room gets a bit stuffy when it's hot out and can get buggy from having the windows/slider open for fresh air, and the matress is a bit on the soft side. Tea's place was just what we were looking for, and we appreciated all her helpful tips on the area! Would definitely go back!

    Mel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you could ask for in an off the beaten track stay! Right on an empty beach with amazing views. Exactly what we were looking for.

    James2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing stay, words cannot describe how magical this bnb was. We had gorgeous views of the water right from our little private deck. We were able to use the kayaks that Tea provides at our leisure and explored the bay. We hope to be back one day!

    Courtney2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This beach is the most wonderful place! A perfect place to stay. Tea was an excellent host. We were sorry we had to leave.

    Cynthia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a wonderful stay. Very cosy room on the most gorgeous private beach. Lots do in the area and Tea was great at giving local recommendations.

Manaia in Maori means guardian, protects against evil, balance between sky and sea. This light and sunny room offers privacy on a separate level to the rest of our home. The sea views are magnificent, a delight to wake up to, and your sleep may be enhanced by the rhythmic rolling of the waves.
There are two bedrooms which we alternate as we only have one booking at a time. One faces east, the other west, they are both light and bright with Queen bed, private bathroom and deck overlooking Ninety Mile Beach.
Ahipara is a small, unique community renowned for it's surf spots and this is the main attraction in summer. It is also the gateway to the Ninety Mile Beach, Cape Reinga and south to the Waipoua forest. We have a local cafe, bar restaurant, takeaway food shop and an Adventure Centre if you’re looking for activities. Also a local liquor outlet. Kaitaia has a PaknSave supermarket and a greater choice of restaurants for those requiring food on their way here.
  • Super clean cozy place with a nice touch. Sheryl is a lovely lady and she made us feel very welcome. Will definitely recommend to people.

    Maui2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sheryl’s and Bob’s bedroom and private deck have the amazing view of 90-Mile Beach shown in their listing. The accommodations are clean and comfortable, with a fully-equipped private kitchen downstairs. Sheryl and Bob were friendly and provided an excellent dinner recommendation and accurate driving directions for my next day’s journey. I definitely hope to return.

    Martin2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sheryl‘s place is very nice and clean. You have an awesome view from the balcony over the Ahipara bay and 90 mile beach. To the room even belongs a separate kitchen downstairs. And you get this all for a very reasonable price. I had a good chat with her husband in the morning and would have liked to stay longer. Can absolutely recommend her place to other guests.

No power but we have solar lights and a small gas fridge and two hob gas cooker. We have two very large chill bins. Your devices can be charged at our house. We have kayaks that you can use. • A cozy little indoor/outdoor home with a view you absolutely can't beat. The beach feels private, and Tea was very hospitable. Would definitely stay again!

    Sayler2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tea was an incredible host and her property accommodated my family group in the best way. We took advantage of the basic set-up by cooking in the open kitchen every night and eating under the stars. You cannot beat the location or views here! Fishing and diving in the area is amazing too. Bring a few extra lanterns and you'll be set. I would 100% return and recommend to others.

  • Jan’s place is awesome! It’s rustic but incredibly comfortable. It was very clean and had everything I needed. I spent two nights here and could not recommend it more. Also, a plus, her dog and the neighbor’s dogs are incredibly hospitable.

    Rudy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I heart Campkoo. This place oozes with character and laid back charm and is excellent value for money. The outside open doored composting toilet might not be to everyone’s taste, but I loved sitting on it and looking out at the trees while the fantails flew about nearby. The outside shower amongst the bamboo was also a delight. But most delightful of all was host Jan and her daughter Polly. Such wonderful hospitable people. I hope very much to come back to Campkoo and the fabulous far north of NZ.

    Elizabeth2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Campkoo is a house in the middle of the garden. Comfortable beds, a small kitchen equipped with all necessary utensils. Outdoor shower next to the bamboo (pleasantly warm water), compost toilet-super comfortable with a view of the garden. A simple wonderful place and Jan is a very warm woman. We stayed 2 nights to visit Cape Reinga and the great Rawara Beach (thanks for the tip) and felt very comfortable.

    Jutta2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay, off the grid à perfect place to unwind. Jan is a lovely and very thoughtful host, highly recommend!

    Christina2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, clean place to relax

    Zita2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jan's spot is a kiwi place not to be missed. Aptly named Campkoo , it is indeed a glamping experience set in a quiet area very close to the main road to Cape Reinga, only over an hour's drive away. You are welcomed on site and taught how to master the clean composting toilet and outside warm shower. Then you are left totally for your own private enjoyment of the peace , birdlife and brilliant stars at night. The Milky Way is easily seen from the cosy verandah. You can even hear the roar of the waves on 90 mile beach if the surf is up at night. If you have not experienced the outdoor life of camping in NZ then you need to try this comfortable style that Jan had created. Jan's thoughtful little extras like good coffee and breakfast items all add up to an enjoyable stay. Linen is fresh and clean and the bed is comfortable. Recommended!

    Marion2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jan is a super lovely host. The location is very great on an avocado plantation, the hut has a great garden and is very nicely decorated. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

    Lea2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our simple life at Jan’s place. An open-air dunny to contemplate life at, a shower not for prudes, a lovely cottage with good bed, a kitchen stocked with fresh eggs, fruits, etc. Jan is such a warm person. Yoko, the dog, will offer her fat tummy for pets. The darkness is complete at night, you can see zillions of stars and constellations. There are nice private beaches around. The Waipap pub has good beers. Nothing is missing for a relaxing holiday.

Our cute and cosy eco-cottage sleeps 3. Only minutes from Kerikeri and Rainbow Falls. The cottage is solar powered with a deck for relaxing overlooking trees to a running river. It’s comfortable and well equipped. Listen out for our resident kiwi
The cottage is private and has it's own entrance. Set on 5 acres of bush and gardens it is so peaceful and relaxing. Although we are right next door if you need anything. The cottage is well set up for two people but, can be stretched to three by utilizing the pullout sofa. We provide all the basics for a relaxed stay, a two burner cooker and everything you need to cook yourself a nice meal to enjoy with your loved ones. The facilities are simple and rustic but comfortable. The fire keeps the cottage warm on the coldest nights and in summer there is nothing like relaxing on the deck with a cold glass of your favourite drink. We are a family friendly environment and can provide a portacot and linen if required. You are welcome to explore our property. Our property is off the grid fully solar powered. Surrounded by mature totara trees we are sure you will love our cottage. And if you are lucky you might hear our resident kiwi at night.
Rainbow falls is just minutes down the road and Kerikeri township is 5 minute drive. Paihia is 25 minutes away as are Ngawha hotsprings. Endless Northland beaches for surf and fishing. We are happy to give you advise on how to fill in your time.

Ready to relax? Our fully self contained studio is a literal stone's throw from the beach at the end of the driveway. No shoes required! Kick back in the hammock chairs or lounger and enjoy the gorgeous views of 90 Mile Beach, from Shipwreck Bay to Cape Reinga.
Straight across the road from the beach, Ahipara Beachfront Studio lets you make the best of coastal living. Wake up and check the surf, walk down to the beach for a swim. Low tide exposes sandy bottom rock pools directly out front, some deep enough for swimming Eat outdoors, relax in the hammock chairs, and let the sound of the surf lull you to sleep. Or.....cosy up inside with block out blinds and binge on Netflix to your heart's content. The space is the ground floor of a two storey house - completely separate with no internal access. A simple, open-plan space with retro block walling, making it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The bi-fold door can open up half the front wall to let in the sea air, and the deck catches the sun at the front with shelter at the rear of the deck provided by the balcony above. For your comfort and enjoyment: - 100% cotton linen - King size bed with new Sleepyhead mattress - Futon sofa bed - 100% cotton towels - Beach towels - Non-toxic body wash, handsoap and cleaning products - Selection of books and board games - Unlimited WiFi - 43 inch flat screen TV with Netflix, TVNZ On Demand, Lightbox, and Chromecast so you can stream anything else from your devices. In the kitchen area: - Nespresso machine - Milk frother - Electric double element, bench top oven, toaster - Full size refrigerator and freezer - Selection of teas - French press coffee - Breakfast cereal and milk - Oils, basic condiments, and all basic cooking utensils For guests considering twin share there is a fold down futon sofa bed. The size is slightly smaller than a double bed, with the folding seam running down the middle of the futon from head to toe, creating a slight dip. Using the sofa bed is not ideal unless you know each other well, as there will be little privacy, with only a roll down bamboo blind to visually separate the two sleeping spaces. Don't forget to let me know if you are wishing to use the sofa bed so I can prepare it for you. The studio is not suitable for small children, but if you are coming with an older child or a little baby feel free to message me, often we can make it work. We once lived in the studio and we have many happy memories of our time there, we know you'll love it as much as we did!
Ahipara is a peaceful, coastal community, and also a giant outdoor playground with a plethora of outdoor activities available. 90 Mile beach is an official highway, so if you have a 4WD vehicle definitely take it for a blast! Don't forget to check out the sand dunes and spectacular scenery around the point from Shipwreck Bay, you might even catch sight of the local herd of wild horses (and don't forget to check the tides). In Ahipara there is a local store with some basic groceries, a takeaway shop, a liquor store, and a gas station. North Drift cafe has good food and is open 7 days, with dinner.....when they feel like it.... They are licensed. Hot tip: stick to the menu rather than cabinet food. Up the hill at the motel is Stonegrill Restaurant if you feel like some (fairly expensive) pub-style fare with a drink to wash it down. You might meet a few locals up there on a Thursday and Friday night. If you don't feel like spending too much, Bidz takeaways are great. Make sure you ask for the fresh fish of the day. Anything else you might need, such as a laundromat, chemist or full supermarket, can be found in nearby Kaitaia (15 minutes drive, rather than the 5 hours some reviews would have you believe hehe).
  • Great communication, awesome place. Highly recommend.

The outdoor shower was amazing and the space had everything I needed. Terrence and Cathy offered me lots of great tips and graciously offered to pick me up from the bus stop in Kaiwaka. I had a wonderful stay!

We were able to relax and unwind in this home and loved the calming vibe of the home. Kitchen has the right amount of utensils, bed is comfortable and everything is clean. We loved the outdoor bath and shower. Funky space is spacious and perfect for those looking to disconnect from technology and reconnect with themselves. 10/10 ☺️

Before the Europeans settled in New Zealand the area was a Maori Pa (fortification) but these days we call it home and invite you to stay at our beautiful beachfront property. Tapeka boasts two beaches ideal for fishing, swimming and other water sports It has a boat ramp for launching boats. Watch passing Orcha whales if you are lucky or swim with the wild Dolphins off the beach. Nearby is Kauri Cliffs, Waitangi, Kerikeri and other world class golf courses. Visit the famous “Hole in the Rock” at Cape Brett, a popular way to view the Islands of the Bay, take a day sail or sit back, relax and watch the endless parade of boats passing by. There’s also an abundance of great walking tracks in the area and it’s the perfect base from which to explore Northland. Enjoy the use of our kayaks or relax and watch the sun go down from the spa. If you need to collected from Russell give us a call. This is a free service.
  • Smart space walking distance to Russell. We saw a kiwi on Jack’s walkway coming home at night. Need torch. Access to kayaks on beach was fun. Clean, well laid out and comfortable.

  • The Apartment was stylish and comfortable and more spacious than we expected. There is a beautiful cove just down the stairs, but Dave also directed us to a great swimming beach just 5 minute walk away. We drove to the restaurants in town; it’s not too far but the road is narrow and steep for walking. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Maril2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this place enough! We stayed at Dave and Anitas for just two nights on our big tour of New Zealand. The location of the apartment was perfect, after a long drive, it felt quiet and idyllic but not far from the town at all for restaurant access. We spent our time kayaking around the bay where we saw dolphins! And relaxing and swimming in the cove which was 10 seconds from the apartment. It was like our own private beach! We wanted to ditch the car for a day so we walked into Russell through the bush which took around 30 mins, an enjoyable walk with great views, a bit hilly. Everything we needed was provided for and we felt that the hosts went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. It was the perfect start to our adventure!

    Betsy2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was super clean and new. Great shower and view from spa is lovely. Our hosts were very kind and helpful.

  • Beautiful stay here! Location could not be more perfect! Spent our days taking dips in the ocean , exploring nearby places then soaking in the hot tub. Had all the things you could need for a perfect little getaway and lovely hosts. Can’t wait to come back :)

The Cottage at Wai Rua, west of Whangarei, is approximately 18 minutes drive from Kamo via Pipiwai Road. It is a hidden gem with amazing rural views, including massive volcanic rocks, lakes and ponds, set in a beautiful tranquil garden. It can be a getaway retreat or stopover.
Don't be put off by the metal road, you won't regret what you find at our place. The cottage is far enough away from the main house to give plenty of privacy but close enough to join us for a meal or glass of wine. The kunekune pigs will "talk" to you from their paddock and the hens will provide you with fresh eggs for your breakfast (if you wish). The orchard provides fresh fruit depending on the season.
This is a rural area surrounded by farmland. The closest place (5 minutes down the road) to get food is the local fuel station which also has a very good takeaway kitchen and country style cafe for breakfast and lunches. Otherwise it is a 20 minute drive. There is a forest walk close by and Whangarei is a lovely town with great cafes and walkways.
  • If you are looking to stay anywhere near Whangarei, it doesn’t get better than here. A totally magical spot, private, views, stunning cottage, hot tub, such a friendly welcome from the host.. and the grounds. wetland areas, stunning volcanic rocks... if there is availability on the dates you are planning, don’t hesitate to book this amazing cottage. Will be a highlight of our NZ vacation. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  • After a long couple of days on the road it was lovely to get to Elaine's place to relax a bit. The property is located about 20 min from town via an easy drive, it is peaceful, stunning scenery and the hot tub a must. I enjoyed a run on the 12km Parihaka trail course which was a great sampler of the falls area and then headed out to Mount Manaia a short steep hike to a view. Elaine's place was perfectly placed to do both very easily. The property was wonderful and private and as i sat in the hot tub i was quite amused by the three piggies and the ducks that wandered past. Elaine was super friendly and welcoming and was my NZ mum for two nights! Thank you for looking out for me Elaine! I would def recommend this stay if you are looking for a quiet beautiful stay that's still close to town!

    Karina2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts are friendly and welcoming. Cottage is beautiful and lots of lovely touches like breakfast things. So enjoyed the stay. Would recommend to all.

  • We would definitely recommend Elaine's please to everyone.

    Trevor2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend this off-the-beaten-track sanctuary enough. From a stunning, sparkling cottage, to one of the most comfortable beds we’ve stayed in, to Elaine’s warm greeting and personal farm tour she gave us (taking time from her busy day, particularly chasing after naughty kunekune piggies!!) explaining the conservation-based vision they have for the area (amazing Kauri trees on the property!), to the delicious breakfast provisions provided, my goodness, you’d be missing out to not stay here. We spent a lovely evening checking out the ponds, the piggies/chickens/ducks/cows, and envying the incredible orchard. The absolutely best plums we’ve ever had - like biting into a juicy piece of heaven!! Wish we’d had the time to stay longer to swim in the wonderfully warm solar-heated pool. Do yourself a favour and experience this wonderful farm, and Elaine and Allen’s hospitality. Thanks for the memories, we hope to be back.

    Michelle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Paradise on earth. Lovely cottage, large rooms, everything provided, and if something is missing, just ask. Lovely hosts. Covered veranda and wide eves, so you can find shade ( or sun) at any time of day. Cottage is set in its own secluded section of garden. BBQ on terrace. Wonderful views over glorious garden and strange rock formations to the hills. Easy access to small swimming pool. You can walk round the huge garden and the lake at the bottom or go further and see the animals on the farm tracks. (Piglets broke out into the orchard while we were there).

    Christine2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We came to stay at Elaine’s cottage for one night, we liked it so much we decided to extend for another night. Due to already existing booking in the cottage, we spent the second night in the yurt. The first thing to be mentioned is the beautiful and vast property. Everything is so well taken care of and simply looks idyllic-a perfect countryside getaway. There are ponds and ducks, cows and little pigs running around. The cottage is simply beautiful with flowers around it and it is a short walk from the swimming pool which was nice and warm, great to relax in after a busy day. The cottage has all the necessary amenities and a washing machine. The yurt is an experience on its own. A very unique space where all the details are well thought of. It also has a hammock and a hot tub. The bathroom and the kitchen are located just nearby. Last but not least Elaine’s hospitality was amazing. She always responded very fast, gave us lots of tips and advice on travel. Elaine also accommodated our move to the yurt so helpfully and even prepared a hot tub for us! The breakfast items are delicious-eggs, fresh bacon, bread and jams. I would definitely reconnect to stay at Elaine’s and without a doubt would choose to stay there again.

    Chris2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my wife stayed at Elaine's slice of pardise for two nights in the cottage, lovely property and grounds to walk around and explore, very peaceful and relaxing weather its listening to the birds or the farm animals or just chillen in the hot tube nestled in the trees, Elaine and Allen are great hosts and very friendly, we felt very comfortable throughout our stay, our best airb&b stay so far, we will recommend to our friends

Very suitable for self-isolation as we have just added cooking facilities. A small and warm modern cabin with an amazing view over the sea to the Poor Knights Islands. The cabin enjoys all day sun and is well insulated. It has a King bed and a small table and chairs. Handy for Sandy Bay surf beach and other beautiful beaches.
This cabin is >100m away from the owners house so is quiet private. There's an outside and inside hot shower. Outside and inside table and chairs. No kitchen but a 3 burner stove top on a table outside and a 1 burner inside, a kettle, microwave and toaster for your breakfast and a cool box. Inside cassette type toilet, that uses a manual water flush and an outside long-drop type toilet. Neither smell and are very easy to use. 10 minutes to the Matapouri store where they do takeaways and 15 minutes to Tutukaka cafes and shops.
The cabin is in a field overlooking the coast surrounded by trees.
  • Great little place! Very close to Sandy Bay if you're into your surfing and the views are incredible for such an affordable price. Julia and her husband were very nice people. Would recommend.

Continental Breakfast is included in the price / cooked breakfast if requested and with 8 hours notice (not included in price). There is a TV in the Studio. Off-street parking. It's only a 10 mins drive to Paihia / Bay of Island and approx. 25 minutes to Kerikeri. Have your own car handy to explore the surroundings and Northland.
For comfortable and relaxing accommodation that won’t break the bank the Artists Studio is the one. Located near Kawakawa, Bay of Islands, the studio was built next to the original 1870’s Taumarere homestead. Isobelle and Bill aim to make your stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible and hope you enjoy your time in the Bay of Islands. You are more than welcome to help us feed the animals on our family friendly lifestyle block and learn some of the history surrounding this beautiful homestead. The Studio is equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, but there are no other cooking facilities. You are welcome to share our kitchen to make your evening meal. We live on a farmlet (8 acres) and have a few cows, chickens and a dog. Approximately two acres of gardens surround the homestead. Golfing and gardening are our main interests and we volunteer at the local Museum/Library once a week. The Twin Coast cycle trail is right on our door, as is the old steam train Gabrielle that runs from Kawakawa to Taumarere station.

  • I LOVED this place. Excellent location - very quiet, just off main road. Great to get to Waitangi Treaty Ground, Paihia etc. The photos on air bnb don’t show off the wonderful features of the place! The room is big and there is a corner with sofa and two rocking chairs, there’s a big bed and a single in another corner. The bathroom and toilet are separate and there’s everything we needed, microwave, fridge, etc. This was my favourite air bnb in NZ! Thanks so much Bill & Isobelle, you’re the best hosts.

    Jarina2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Best AirBnB experience we had during our NZ-trip. Lovely little private house with everything you need, and also tasteful furnishings and art. Very good value for money. We only wished we could have stayed longer.

  • Robyn's guest house was a very elegant, up-scale, brand new bach with great views, set in a lovely, rural setting. It was clean, comfortable and very private, with a terrific, well-stocked kitchen and very nice bedrooms and bathroom. It was very good value for money and exceeded my wife's and my expectations.

  • An amazing and beautiful holiday home. A nice setting in the bush with beautiful views over the Kaipara. The interior of the house is very "tastefully " done. A magnificent place to relax. All the amenities were there for us to use. One word " superb ".

    Johanna2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat has hidden surprises everywhere. Artwork, beautiful crockery, glassware, flowers, candles. Styled like a magazine shoot. I loved everything, including the closeup encounters with local wildlife - morepork, possum, cicadas singing, and even a beautiful puriri moth. Restful scenery and a wonderful spa pool to soak in. Come see for yourself...

  • Judith makes you feel at home and nothing appears to be a problem. Awesome place with an equally awesome host. I would happily stay again. I was on a work trip so did not do any sight seeing but could see that there was plenty of information in the accommodation on things to do and places to eat. You have your own private area and Judith happily let me share her kitchen when I needed to cook something, which came with the added bonus of some lovely conversations. :-)

    Karen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Judith was so lovely and greeted us with a refreshing drink, fresh fruit, and freshly cooked muffins. It was just what we needed after the drive! The bedrooms were really comfortable and the home cooked breakfast in the morning was a wonderful touch. It was within walking distance to lots of places, including the beautiful rainbow falls. Judith is an interesting person and very easy to talk to. We had a really good stay and would recommend Judith's place a hundred times over!

    Claudia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a slice of heaven in the gorgeous Bay of Islands. Judith is very much the hostess with the mostest, providing a comfortable and welcoming space, and going above and beyond to ensure you have a fantastic stay. Her recommendations for my time were fantastic, absolutely delicious breakfasts served at a time to suit me, and lovely chats on the deck whilst escaping the heat. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Old Packhouse

    Gudrun2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say? Judith is an exempelary Airbnb host, her house and garden are so lovely, it is located in a good area, and there is a lot to explore, especially if you have a car. I was traveling by bus and Judith went out of her way to make everything I had hoped to do possible. Accessible from the house are several good long walks that go to waterfalls, and even the town is reachable by foot. It was a wonderful stay.

  • Our stay with Judith was wonderful. A cozy, spacious apartment, everything was very clean and tidy. The breakfast was great and Judith gave us valuable tips for organizing the day. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit from the garden. We would come back anytime.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). We have easy access to the property with a lock up double garage plus off street parking (even for a boat). The beach is only a short walk from the house. We live in a house on the same property so we are always available to help with any questions you have. Surfboards and boogie boards are available for use free of charge.
Our property is situated in beautiful Ahipara Bay. It is close to the beach we love. This listing is for the entire home so you will have plenty of privacy. We live on the same site so we are closeby to help with any advice or ideas of what to do locally.
Ahipara is a beautiful coastal town situated at the bottom end of 90 mile beach. The beach offers safe swimming, beautiful rock pools for the children to enjoy. There is wonderful fishing, and beach hikes to help you connect with nature plus of course the surfing!!!

We'd love to welcome you to our place, set on 25 acres of rural New Zealand countryside and surrounded by green rolling hills there is plenty of peace and quiet. We are close to the twin coast cycle trail, beaches, vintage steam railway, walking tracks, local pool and numerous attractions of the Bay of Islands. You’ll love our place because its set in a stunning location, has a great farm feel and offers plenty of tranquility. Our room is good for couples and solo adventurers.
We have a wonderful farm-style house on a large section of beautiful Northland countryside surrounded by views of rolling hills and farmland. You will be accommodated in a comfortable bedroom with amazing country views (and maybe the odd nosy cow) from your bed looking out the french doors which open up onto your private veranda area. Check out the pictures! Yes there is a bath on the balcony and it is possible to use it but be aware its an old-style bath and requires old-style methods! You also have access to a private (much more modern) bathroom located just down the hall from your bedroom.
We live in a beautiful rural area close to Kawakawa in Northland. This is a very historical area and the Bay of Islands is popular with all kinds of tourists, offering activities and sights for everyone from skydiving and parasailing to boat tours to the islands and bus trips to Cape Reinga, to long walks on the beach and museums to explore. The list is never-ending! We are situated outside the hubbub of the busy tourist areas but within easy access so you can choose to enjoy late mornings and peaceful evenings combined with your choice of activities within easy reach through the day.
  • We have no words for this place - entering Ron‘s and Janice‘ house is like entering wonderland. They make you feel at home like nobody else. Janice made pancakes for us for breakfast and Ron showed us around at the local farms. Simply don‘t miss this opportunity!

  • A peace of heaven with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. The best welcome and hospitality we received anywhere in NZ. Which is really saying something given all the other experiences we had over 18 days in North Island. A little difficult to find first time but absolutely worth the effort. When we describe NZ experience to friends we will start with tales of the 2 days we spent with Ron and Janice in their farmhouse some 4km outside of Kawakawa.

    Steve2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Janice and Ron are the best hosts you can ever wish for. Their accommodation is beautiful, clean and had the most amazing view. If you have the chance to stay there, don’t hesitate and book!!

    Kirstie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Janice was a wonderful host, and her farm has fabulous views and gardens. She offered fruit, eggs, toast, and made pancakes for breakfast. We had enjoyable discussions about religion and politics, two subjects usually avoided. I wish I could have stayed longer and look forward to returning.

    Martin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic. We cannot speak highly enough about our stay with Janice. Whatever I say will not do our visit justice. Everything was sparkling clean, beautiful white sheets and towels, a quiet serene place, loved the kitty kats, the ducks etc but above all of this Janice made us feel so at home and welcome, great breakfasts. It would be worth returning to NZ just to stay with her again. Sadly we did not get to meet Ron but hey, we will next time 😊. Thank you Janice, you are an amazing lady.

    Suzanne2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ron and Janice’s place is about 20 minutes from the touristy bits at Paihia, Russell ferry and Waitangi treaty grounds. It is remote and reached on an unmetalled road. Ron and Janice’s characters are stamped all over their smallholding. The room and bathroom were very quaint and the view is breathtaking. Ron and Janice couldn’t do enough for us during our short stay from hanging out our washing, ironing my husband’s shirt and hankie to baking us cakes and cooking us a shepherd’s pie. Janice was out when we left and we really wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ to her for making our stay so special. Thanks Ron and Janice x

    Julie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The views are stunning, and the location is quiet, and the house is lovely. Janice and Ron are generous, kind and thoughtful, and we were touched by their genuine pleasure in hosting and sincerity in making us feel like cherished family or friends, rather than paying customers.

    Kyla2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • BEST AIRBNB STAY EVER! The place is truly magical. Super peaceful and relaxing. The garden, the animals, the atmosphere and everything make you instantly forget the busy city life. The house is lovely decorated and your room has an incredible view! You can enjoy beautiful sunsets directly from your cozy bed. We were quiet happy, that we didn’t booked any motel at Paihia, it was so worth the way. However the best thing are the hosts. The moment we arrived, we had the feeling of visiting our favourite grandparents. The two are so wonderful. Their warmth and friendliness is incredible. We had very nice talks but also enough time for us alone. Janice made us pancakes with Manuka honey and fruit salad for breakfast and even packed us some for our day trips. Ron had a glass of wine with us, while enjoying the sunset. I just cannot say enough how wonderful the stay was! We definitely recommend this place!!!

Come and stay at our newly renovated apartment overlooking the beautiful Mangonui Harbour, just a short walk to the local cafes, restaurants and shops and an even shorter walk to the ocean! In the same building there is another apartment available to book on Airbnb search "Point veiw number 2" or copy & paste the link below https://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/32789649?location=Mangonui%2C%20Northland&guests=1&adults=1&s=_I3EdeoL
We own a 3 apartment home that has locked dividers between each space - each apartment has a large private deck area
Neighbors are reasonably close but we haven’t had any issues or complaints of noise
  • Stylish space with great views. Some thoughtful touches & nice to have breakfast included

    Jeremy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning apartment with views of the bay, very clean and comfortable. The deck area is lovely to sit and sip a wine whilst listening to the water ripple and the birds. The fish and chip shop was wonderful but unfortunately the Thai was closed on Mondays so we didn’t get to try it, however it’s meant to be great!

    Keri2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great stay, its really private spot in a perfect location. Cleaning was spotless, super comfortable bed with a wonderful view across the harbour, plenty of outdoor space too. Appreciated the local tips and thoughtful touches. Would recommend to anyone looking for a break in Northland!

  • We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Zoe's place. It was beautifully furnished and the photos and description of the place was exactly as described. Beds were very soft and comfy especially after a full day travelling. The view was amazing and instructions for check-in was seamless. Gabe was also very helpful and attentive. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks Zoe and Gabe. Keep up the good work.

'Super cool' describes our place! Some of the best ocean views in NZ can be enjoyed from all parts of the house, especially the cedar hot tub! Well equipped, designer kitchen designed for foodies, retro furniture and you can bring your dog too! We have everything you need - smart tv, wifi, well equipped kitchen (with sharp knives!), hot tub and a whole acre to enjoy. This is a truly unique escape.
Nestled high above the gorgeous seaside settlement of Mangawhai and yet only 15 minutes drive to the beach you'll find our place which we call 'In the Clouds'. We've spared no expense in setting up the perfect, luxury holiday escape. You will be spellbound by the view, that's a promise! Enjoy the large, classic, cedar hot tub and soak away you stress or spend the day in the kitchen which also enjoys amazing views thanks to the 25 foot glass slider door which opens fully to let the outside become part of the interior. There's Wifi for you to use, a 43" full HD smart tv with Netflix and also an AppleTV for you to use and rent movies if you wish. Feel free to bring the dog(s) and the kids will love it to. The house comfortably sleeps 5 but the couch is fine for a sixth person and is perfectly comfortable to sleep on if you do need that extra sleeping space. PLEASE NOTE: sheets and towels are not supplied but if you are coming from overseas or further away and can't bring your own, we can easily arrange linen hire from a nearby town for you at a cost of $20 per person - you will need to request this when you book. The main bedroom doesn't have blinds as we like to sleep with natural moonlight/starlight but don't worry - the house is very private!
  • Matt's place is a wonderful retreat overlooking Mangawhai and the heads. We had two babies with us and they both loved it, exploring the yard and playing in the wide spaces. Im looking forward to going back one day.

    Joshi2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. Great chill out spot

    Joe2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Matt's place is truly amazing, getting off the main track and spending a few nights up here was a blessing! The house is warm, friendly and inviting in every room and the little touches were fantastic. Anyone that's in to cooking will go nuts over the kitchen, set up perfectly for entertaining while still giving an amazing view out across to the ocean. Definitely the best part was the cedar hot tub, nice and warm after a day full of activities with the starry night above (little to no light pollution too so milky way was very visible!). Will definitely be heading back if we're lucky enough to get time to!

    Mustafa2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Matt’s place. The views were just amazing! It felt peaceful and secluded, but it was also close enough to drive to the cafes/restaurants. We’d love to come back again next time. Thank you Matt!

The perfect escape. This self-contained apartment, with its own entrance and car park, looks out over Omapere Beach. It faces the legendary Hokianga sunset and sand dunes. This studio apartment is the perfect launchpad for adventure or peaceful reflection. The Omapere launch ramp is 100 metres away. There's a new 5-person spa pool right outside the front door for guests. A queen bed plus sofa bed for an additional guest.
This apartment is equipped with new furniture, electronics and appliances. Ensuring a comfortable night listening to waves on the beach is the new solid timber queen bed. The lounge features a sofa bed and desk, along with a DVD-capable TV connected to Freeview. As this is a compact studio apartment, the kitchen is naturally small but well equipped. It has a fridge, electric skillet, microwave, toaster - along with crockery, utensils, cutlery glassware etc. We can set up a small outdoor gas barbecue for those who want more cooking options.
This apartment with its sea views is just across the road from the Omapere Beach, 20 minutes from Tane Mahuta in the Waipoua Forest, even closer to the giant sand dunes for those keen to sand surf - and just minutes from the Opo the Dolphin memorial, the colourful Opononi pub and local fish n chip shop. For dining out we recommend The Landing Thai Restaurant and the Copthorne Resort, a short walk away. You can arrive with your own boat or charter a boat to go fishing or exploring the historic Hokianga Harbour - while big game fishing grounds await.

The photos do not do the location justice. Read the reviews and time and time again, our guests talk about how stunning the views are. If you think the photos look great, you should see the views in real life!
Relax and recharge in this coastal property with stunning views over the popular East Coast of NZ. The quiet and relatively remote location will appeal to people who want to get away from their busy lifestyles and enjoy the peace this place offers. This is the ideal space to relax and unwind. The house is set up on a hill overlooking the beautiful East Coast of Northland. The house is 250sqm with 3 double bedrooms with 1 x King bed (top of the range Sealy Posturepedic bed) and 2 x Queen beds. The upstairs consists of a master bedroom with an ensuite, open plan kitchen/living room and garage. The downstairs consists of 2 x bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge and bathroom with bath and shower. The laundry is in the garage. There is also a queen sized slat bed sofa bed available upstairs. Both levels have large decks to enjoy the views and sun. Double glazed windows throughout for warmth and quiet. Guests have access to a pizza oven, 2 x gas BBQs, kayaks, gym equipment including a spin cycle, free weights/bench, Pilates reformer and also 2 mountain bikes. There is an outside shower which you can use before hopping into the Hotsprings ‘Aria’ Spa Pool (Hot Tub). There are also 'Coast' bean bags (outdoor furniture) that can be used as well as a 6 seater outdoor table and chair set. Sky TV (cable TV) is provided with movie and sports package are added. There is also Apple TV and Netflix. Someone will be there to let you in and make sure everything is okay for you. Someone will also help lock up the place upon your departure. Neighbours are few and far between. The area is extremely quiet and traffic volume is very low. There are a number of locations nearby to launch a boat. There are some great fishing spots on and off the water. Elliots Bay (5-10 walk) hosts surfing competitions and is a popular surf beach for locals. Taupiri Bay (5 min walk) is one of the safest swim beaches in the North. Little Taupiri Bay (across the road) is your own private little bay (although the locals sometimes enjoy it as well). We regularly see dolphins, Humpback Whales and Orca's from the deck of our house! The wireless internet is relatively quick and very reliable. It is fast enough to easily stream videos, download/upload large files, send/receive emails, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) etc. **The house is fully alarmed and there is 'off site' monitoring via both internal (both living areas and garage) and external cameras**. Guests are welcome to cover the internal cameras when staying but please uncover upon check out for security reasons. Cellphone reception depends on your provider (some have better reception than others with Vodafone having a strong signal at the property) There is a landline provided with free local calls.
There are three bays within a 10 minute walk. Little Taupiri Bay is just across the road and Taupiri Bay, considered on of the safest beaches to swim in the North, is just a 5 minute walk down the road. Elliot’s Bay is about a 10 minute walk around the corner.
  • Beautiful, immaculate, modern ‘eagle’s nest’ equipped with anything and everything you could need. If the pictures look good to you, well the reality is even better. Located at probably the most picturesque part of that section of the coast. Simply lovely.

  • A little wonderland is Ian's place. The room felt like an entire house; It was clean, warm and entertaining in itself. Ian is an exceptional communicator. Quick responder to emails, text and shouts in the void when you feel lost:P:P Too bad we've only were able to spend a short amount of time there as we were busy climbing the Pekerau Hills. Definitely worth a revisit.

    Izolda2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ian Francis gave us precise directions to his accommodation, which could not be missed. The house is individually decorated and very large. The private area with its own bathroom and kitchen is also huge. The kitchen is very well equipped. The WiFi is great. Ian explained everything to us in detail and even gave us some of his eggs and fruit. We felt very comfortable.

    Rebecca2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ian was very helpful & such a great host and accommodating. Great communication & great relaxing spot, not too far from supermarket and good drive from the Cape. Would stay here again :-)

    Talofa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great quirky place with an attentive host. The room is attached to the main house but I felt the sense of privacy. Ian was helpful with recommending various destinations, and the location has all sorts of interesting things (to a city dweller like me).

    Darren2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was huge and almost like a private apartment attached to the main house. We had our own entrance but could also hang out in the house freely. We had multiple beds and a kitchenette containing everything we needed for cooking. The shower is worth seeing - very large too. Ian was welcoming and indicated us beautiful beaches to visit 20 minutes away. It was also nice to have free eggs - from local chicken - for breakfast.

    Maxime2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and great price on conveniently close to the Karikari peninsula. Ian was very responsive and friendly to my partner and I. The house and yard have beautiful artistic touches that are one of a kind!

    Darren2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I (Mum, Dad with 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay in Ian's home. The accommodation though shared felt very private and spacious and is good value at this price point. Ian was welcoming with great local knowledge on best places to visit, but also left us to enjoy our privacy. The kids were particularly taken with the unique and artistic look of the house and enjoyed getting to feed the animals one morning. We all slept very well and would definitely like to stay again. Also grab some honey if you have the chance - delicious!

    Renee2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Didn't have a good chat with the owner because we arrived late and left early. But from what we've seen a really nice person that likes to crack a joke. Really welcoming and a great place for a small amount of money. Would definitely go there again!

New Zealand is now in lockdown. Unless you are an essential worker for the next month you must stay home. Do not book here. Welcome to Ruakaka Bream Bay Northland Surburban street. 3 minute drive to local beach. 1.5km. * Attached to the house! A cute private en-suite with own private door access is suitable for couples or business folk *No cooking facilities. Continental Breakfast is included No view but the pacific ocean is just 1.5k. Committed to providing a safe and clean environment.
The guest suite consists of a separate bedroom, private lounge and private bathroom with tub. *No cooking facilities* As I am an essential worker I will leave provisions for you in your fridge :) There is a small fridge, kettle , microwave, toaster, plus crockery for light refreshments... ;) Drinking water in the bathroom is filtered so it's ok to drink. There will also be water in your fridge . There is a connecting door between your space and ours lockable on both sides. . *Check out is 11am* ** Boogie boards are in the cupboard along with deck chairs and beach towels. Have fun in the surf or the lagoon, borrow a book to read down at one of our local beaches. Life guards are at Ruakaka Beach but not at Racecourse beach. Hire a Kayak from Simon at Princes Road for a cool trip on the river.. Guided tours start around $30 an hour . Tell him I sent you. He gives discounts. Take a horse trek at Waipu. Good eateries in the area. But in winter they close earlier There are also a couple of takeaways so you will not go hungry. We have Indian, kebab, pizza, fish n chips, Chinese and Sushi :) No great views of anything as stated this is just a humble home in a surburban street but you can hear the surf at high tide :). There may be surburbia noise like lawn mowers, the odd dog or family get togethers.. If somebody is playing music it should stop at 11pm. This street has CTV cameras .
Ruakaka is just a little town with a population of around 4,000 There is a supermarket, a small array of shops, a bank and a chemist, some nice cafes and an ice cream parlor. Eateries do close earlier in winter months Ruakaka has long white beaches and a bird reserve. We are lucky to have an amazing 3000 Godwits flying over after roosting in the estuary at high tide Pelagics now running out of Marsden with real scientists. Give me a holla if you want more information;) Historic Waipu and it’s proud connections to Scotland is 15 drive minutes South. Waipu coastal walkway is a fantastic little hike looking out to the Hen and Chicks Waipu caves to see the glow worms is very cool and free to visit. Urititi Doc Camp where you can hang everything out can be walked to or a 5 minute drive. :) The city of Whangarei is 25 mins drive north. There will be roadworks on the way as our new road is being built. The Quarry Art center in Whangarei is a blissful place filled with amazing crafty folk and some great walks where you will see heaps of native birds. Whangarei falls are stunning and there are volunteer guides over the Summer months. The beautiful Bay of Islands is just over 90 minutes away by car heading north. Russell is very historic and worth a visit . Tutukaka the gateway to the Poor Knights marine reserve is around 75mins north.^ Mount Manaia although just a kilometre by water is a 50 minute drive to Whangarei heads. There is a boat that will take you over for $20 per person return from Marsden. The walking track and view from the top are amazing . There are a lot of steps up so not recommended if your knees are problematic. See Sparky the kiwi at Whangarei wildlife rescue centre along with other rescued birds. ( this is on weekdays only but never if it rains) a small koha is appreciated. Kiwi North is next door and open 7 days a week if you need a real kiwi fix. Take a horse ride at Urititi along the trials to Waipu. There are specials to look out for on GroupOn , Book me and Grabone. There are several fishing charters that leave from Marsden. Please ask for further details or again look on Grabone for some amazing specials. There are monthly markets at both Marsden marina and Waipu as well as Ruakaka surf club market in the summer months. .Orca, Bottlenose dolphins and the odd whale are sometimes seen from the shoreline.

  • A truly unique piece of NZ paradise. This stay sums up everything a perfect kiwi summer holiday brings to mind. The location is perfect regardless of the weather. The deck offers shelter views across the bay. There is alway something new to look at from the changing light to boats to wild life. We had wekas strolling around the deck, a wild ginuea pig came to visit while we watched a large stingay swimming in the shallows from the deck chairs. The beach is a 30 second stroll, with kayaks and a dingy if you want to venture further. A great walk up to Tapeka pt starts just meters up the Rd. Clive is very quick to respond to any communication. The Bach is appointed with every convenience while still feeling relaxed and authentic. A highly recommended stay. Thanks Clive!

  • Quintessentially NZ Paradise. From basking in the morning light to watching the sun set across the water, Tapeka Bach provides the most perfect spot to take it all in. Just over the hill from the main street of Russell and yet like a tucked away local secret, the Bach is positioned in a prime position of The Bay, providing ease to soak in all the natural beauty of the direct surroundings and it's thriving local bird life. Many moments were spent watching my family laugh and swim while I relaxed on the deck, wine in one hand, book in the other. Even visiting family managed to moor right at the front. It could not have been better. Clive, the host was wonderful and friendly and always accomodating with information, making things easy and seamless. The perfect holiday. THANK YOU. What a spot! We will return.

    Dean2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great views, veranda all around the house, outdoor shower, plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the day just watching the sea, birds & people. Beach a walk down the grassed slop and location to Russell close by. Most of all quiet 🤫

  • The Plantation is an incredible place. Not your normal Airbnb, it is an adventure in its self. Lots of little thoughtful touches, a beautiful area to explore, my favourite outdoor shower, and the most comfortable bed. I'm coming back.

  • A beautiful and relaxing place. Affordable and simple. We enjoyed being off the grid. Just be conscious of not using to much water as it is on tank water.

  • Absolutely beautiful! So nice a secluded and makes you feel at one with nature. Erins guidebook was very helpful and the kitchen had all the basics we needed. Can’t wait to visit again!

Sun drenched, intimate nook, with views of the bay at Russell. We offer a one bedroom, self contained unit. We are centrally located and only eight minutes walk from both the waterfront in Russell and the beautiful, golden sands of Long Beach.
Self contained unit attached to main house.
Russell is an historic township formed by the whaling trade in the 1800's. The general atmosphere is very relaxed. The main activities for the area are vineyard tours, relaxing on the beaches, dining out, swimming, strolling, chilling, tramping, snorkelling, fishing, scuba diving, going to the pub or just doing nothing at all. The local establishments often have various forms of entertainment on with excellent live music all day most weekends. In addition there are various festivals throughout the year such as the Birdman, the Jazz Festival and the Country and Western Music Festival.
  • What I liked best about this place was the location. The township of Russell was just a short stroll down one side of the hill and Oneroa Beach was just a short stroll down the other. Everything was clean and comfortable about this place. There is a microwave, barbecue and a one element electric plug in cooktop here, but there is no actual oven and stove, so keep that in mind for your cooking plans. Well worth the stay!

  • Absolutely amazing place. Great facilities and location - only a 5-10 minute walk into Russell and 5-10 minute walk to a beautiful beach in the opposite direction. Very stylish accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Highly recommended!

  • Very well positioned, less than a 10 minute walk to Long Beach one way and Russell the other way. Great view out to the Bay of islands. A comfortable self contained apartment with very helpful hosts. We had a boat trip booked for us within minutes of arriving!

  • This is a brilliant place to stay. Everything within walking distance plus superb ferry / boat trips on the doorstep. Superbly equipped, really comfy bed and great shower. Fantastic hosts too, who helped us have a wonderful week and we didn’t use our car once. Thanks Gilda and Ian for a great stay.
