Parks and nature in Los Angeles

Top parks

Park
“Just two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard, Runyon Canyon Park is an often overlooked urban park that offers some great views. Atop the canyon, you can glimpse views of the San Fernando Valley and the Pacific Ocean, as well as the Hollywood Sign and Giffith Observatory. The park also boasts several hiking trails and is a popular spot for celebrities to exercise. Travelers say that the canyon is reminiscent of Old Hollywood with several old mansions and estates scattered throughout the park – keep your eyes peeled as you follow the trail. ”

Playground
“My kids love this park. They have to sections, one for toddlers and another one for older kids. I just wish the playground area was bigger with more fun for the kids. People are usually pretty nice. The park has a bathroom which is pretty clean most of the time. There is a pool here as well for the summer months. The park also has a section were people can work out which I thought it was pretty cool. Although, this is something that parents can't get advantage of it because is so far away from the playground area. The city also uses this park for several activities and festivals throughout the year. ”

Parking is $8-12 in the summer, but you can also park along the hwy if you find a space. If the beach is full, drive north on PCH and you can access the beach all along the coast.”

“Beautiful park with many hiking trails - long and short choices. Be mindful, it is steep, so even the easier paths include hills. But WORTH it. Also, horseback riding options here too...not easy to get bookings though as they're limited in number and book rather quickly. Another great fun feature are Polo Matches....yes, you read that correctly, polo matches. ”
