Our House is in a small village close to Jaffna. It's a beautiful place surrounded by nature. We are a young couple (Sri lanka/europe) and we love to travel too. It is our passion to bring you the village live and the tamil culture closer.
It is a calm village outside of town. But it is only a 15min Tuk Tuk ride from the nallur Tempel. And 20min to the town (shopping area). So you can feel the real village live and we will bring you to the town when ever you like...
  • We stayed only one night in transit. Heyuntha and Micha have added us warmly and drove us to dinner at a restaurant. The price-performance ratio and we can both recommend.

  • We spent a very pleasant mango tree in three days, Heyu a very friendly and there is often a neighbor stopping by to chat. Grandma though not English, but always very kind to us laugh. There are many trees in the yard, there are a few lazy dog, very clean room, of course, insects are inevitable anyway. Although there is no air conditioning, but a fan blowing at night is very cool. Heyu and Michale is very, very good host, will provide a lot of useful information to us, like which restaurant where delicious fun where the most cost-effective change money, etc., etc., but also often ask us not to drink tea, invited us to eat local specialties breakfast. Although the towns and villages where the mango tree from Jaffna downtown 10 kilometers away, but when Michale open their own tuktuk to the train station to meet us. Michale day leave to attend a friend's wedding could not take us, but also a friend to open chug please send us to the station. They helped us rent a scooter, 1000 rupees day we drove scooter everywhere, very convenient. All in all a very fond and Heyu to be together!

  • Heyu and Micha are very nice, open minded, helpful and generus host. thank you for sharing your knowledge about the tamil culture with me, for having time showing me round jaffna and be spontanious with organising things. i really enjoyed to be at yours. thank you for everything!

  • It was wonderful having been able to spend a few days at Heyus and Michas place ;) It was definitely worth traveling to the north of Sri Lanka and a very special experience for us. Hanging out on the terrace with their family and friends was very relaxing, they provided us with yummie food and even organised a scooter so we could check out the Jaffna area by ourselves. Thank you so much for your hospitality, the interesting conversations and very profound insights in the Tamil culture.

  • This was by far the best homestay we ever had! The simple room had a fan and we got an extra mattrass for our daughter with no extra charge. Heyu and Micha have a cozy little house in a beautiful green garden with outside shower (if you like). It's situated in a little village where they know virtually everyone. People from the village drop by all the time for a chat, it's a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Heyu and Micha picked us up from the train station with their own tuktuk and after dropping our bags, drove us to a temple festival nearby where we could eat free food with very nice local people. Really a great and surprising beginning. Both speak German and English fluently and are able to translate everything, help with phone calls, etc. They were really helpful with all our trips, provided us with little map-sketches to find everything we needed in the city, arranged a driver for our trips to Nainativu and other places around. They took us to dinner, took us to the bus stop, took us to the city and answered all our nosy questions about the tamil culture. It is definitly a good place to go, when you like to meet people and have good conversations.

  • WOW! The reviews don't lie. Our hosts were exceptional! They picked us up in their own personal tuk tuk from the train station, insisted that we had dinner with them and served us tea. In the morning they made breakfast, gave us more tea and even drove us around to enjoy the local festivities and culture. They took us out for lunch and then served us dinner!!! With more tea!!!! The next day they found us a tuk tuk driver who took us around town to see all the local attractions for a decent price. Our host also made us a map and an itinerary for things for us to see as well as where to eat. They were so thoughtful and kind. When we returned home we were greeted with more tea and smiles! They even found the right bus for us to take to our next location and drove us to the bus stop personally! They were such great hosts, we couldn't have asked for a better experience!

  • We had a wonderful time with Heyu and Micha and their family - definitely one of our most memorable moments here in Sri Lanka! We felt so welcome and at home from where we were able to explore the Jaffna area by motorcycle. It was wonderful to chat and find out more about the area and history. Heyu and Micha were so kind and generous, giving us lifts to the train and even taking us to a temple celebration, another highlight. It was sad to leave but they have left us wanting to come back Bis bald!

    Vera2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • So far one of the kindest hosts we have ever stayed at. We had a decent room with a fan and enough storage for 2 people. The place itself was not directly in Jaffna, but suited the discription and the fotos posted. A nice garden with a wide variety of fruits and an outside shower ;) We were supplied with bikes to get to Jaffna which was a ride but surely fun, otherwise there's always enough threewheelers around ;) Thanks for an amazing insight into the country & hope you meet more nice people!

  • A really good place! The host was very helpful and nice. The room was big and clean. I really enjoyed my time in Jaffna. I also like the fact that it was not in the center, so it was quiet.

  • We received a nice welcome from the family when we arrived. They cooked a nice dinner at our arrival. They do laundry service too. Breakfast was a good typical curry and sambal. The room with fan is correct but the shared bathroom was dirty during our stay. They can rent their motobike for the day. The family is doing their best to pleased you. Thank you for your kindness :)

  • This is an outstanding place. It's perfectly situated - sufficiently close to easily access the town by a three-wheeler, and sufficiently far away to be peaceful and quiet at night. The room had an extremely comfortable bed as well as lightning. We stayed in the non-AC room but it comes with a ceiling fan which is more than sufficient. The hosts offered a vegetarian breakfast which was simply divine. They were so helpful in other ways, particularly in helping me view a Baharatanatyam performance. I am happy to recommend this booking and in fact, I am looking forward to staying there the next time I'm in Jaffna.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jaffna dream. The family was very welcoming and helpful with helping us to plan daily activities. It is situated in a quiet local neighborhood abut 10 minutes from town/ bus station with a cheap tuk tuk, or you can also walk to nearby attractions such as the temple in about 20 minutes. The rooms were super comfy, spacious and clean. The couple also has the most adorable son, who was so cute hanging around the guesthouse. Excellent value. Would definitely recommend! Thank you so much for our fantastic stay.

  • Raj was super nice and attentive. He often advised us on activities, good restaurants and helped plan our trips in tuktuk or even to rent a scooter. The room was large and clean! The breakfasts were good! The location is good for enjoying the peace. Thanks to the team, we really enjoyed our stay.

  • The Guest House is our absolute favorite place to stay while in Jaffna. Raj is a wonderful host. He is thoughtful and very prompt and very involved in the community. He's able to give great recommendations about what to visit and who to meet, as well as provide transportation. And the breakfasts! So so delicious. We'll be back for sure.

  • Great place, in a great location! The room was very large, clean and comfortable. Raj was also a great host who always made sure that we had everything we need. He also provided some helpful tips during our stay. Good value for money and would recommend this accommodation with really nice staff.

  • Very clean and comfortable place. We all enjoyed the breakfast served by Dilan which was made on request with a very nominal price. He is a great host, very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend D’Villa for comfortable and safe stay in Jaffna.

  • Big rooms with comfortable beds and a private bathroom. We had airconditioning and a TV which was nice. In the common sitting area there was a coffe&tea making facility. Raj is very happy to help you with getting a tuktuk or a tour. You can get a good breakfast here, continental and local. Ask your driver to get you to the place because the small streets can get confusing. Overall great experience!

  • A nice comfortable space in a good neighborhood. Quiet and clean. The staff is very accommodating. Great value for the money.

  • The rooms are new and spacious with a great aircon, many channels on the TV (including in English) hot water and a comfortable bed. All for a really good price too! Raj was very accommodating to some special requests and he went out of his way to help organise a scooter hire for us that made exploring the surrounds so much better. We stayed for 5 nights and when we return we will book at D'Villa again for sure!

  • Do not hesitate to go to dilan. Super home, beautiful house, and dilan offers to rent his scooters to visit this beautiful region, which is very convenient! We highly recommend!

The quarter provides accommodation for guests and visiting engineers /staff members. It is a simple plan, built on a small budget and designed without harming the surrounding vegetation. As the Wind power park is situated in a unique landscape, that is cultivated as a seasonal lagoon that floods during three months of the year and it has a unique ecosystem attracts a variety of birds.
The upper floor consists of a living area, two rooms for staff and two rooms for guests. Each bedroom has a panoramic view of the surrounding grassland lagoon landscape. Each room comes with an attached bathroom that has an open to sky courtyard for natural ventilation. The rooms open out at the corners to a more expansive views , not 180 but nearly 270 degree due to the corner openings that vanish. The inner glazed screens provided options of disappearing into the walls at the corners providing uninhibited views of the landscape. The timber screens further act as an additional layer of heat protect to the inner glazed screens. Also there is an option to condition the space in the future if necessary. As temperatures here can soar during the hot summer months. The property has been built with a close connection to this rich grass swept context, with an open ground floor living area and with the finishes that reflect and blend into the colors of its surroundings. The ground floor consists of an open living, dining area, kitchen, caretaker’s quarters and a shallow pond with a sculptural spiral staircase leading to the upper floor. The ground floor has an expansive height of 14’ which adds to the spatial experience of a wild open landscape flowing into the building. The roof appears to be floating, supported by steel props. A shallow pond, that is situated beneath a sky lit space at the core of the building acts as the eye of the place The pond has varying water depths that catch the light and reflection of the distant wind turbine. The four corners of the plan are sliced through, with the pond in the center offering the notion of an axis that opens out. This is a crafted guest house and has been built using locally available materials. Polished cement floors and matt cement finished walls (indoors and outdoors) have been used, hand finished stone is for entrance steps. Simple and subtle artistic finishes such as a sunburst pattern are embedded into the cement floors. The overall use of an aesthetic that looks ossified or eroded (such as the surface of the spiral staircase, or the matt rendered walls) enable the building to blends into the surrounding mudflat landscape. Simple furniture, such as those for the living space – that comprises old reclaimed benches and table incorporating a verandah living feeling. Microclimatic modulation was important in the project as it is located in a hot environment; most of the public areas in the ground floor are open to the environment without glazing, mostly used by staff /guests in the evenings with cool evening lagoon breezes, and when glazing has been used in the bedrooms, double screens in timber for light heat filtration provided. Stack effect has been created with the property, a skylight and pond beneath dissipating heat. Lifted roofs and plinths to create an effect of lightness, and feeling of floating and merging with the grasslands.

Hi, my name is Buvanes! I'm a native Sri Lankan but my husband and I lived in Canada for the past 30 years. Now we moved back to Sir Lanka to enjoy the nature and the sun. We built this beautiful house near the ocean just 10 minutes from Jaffna town to spend our retirement years. Currently, we live in our native village Meesalai and we have decided to rent our beautiful house to other wonderful people around the world. We have a nice terrace over looking the ocean. This is truly an escape!
This house is surrounded by trees and has access to all the amenities near by. Hope my garden will be full of fruit and flowers very soon!
Beach, Hospital, Jaffna Town, Temple, and Much more.
