Very small tiny little 1 Bedroom cottage in the heart of Yorkshire moors, with many original features . Comfortably sleeps two. Perfect for a little getaway with no phone internet or television. Pub over the road, lots of walks and activities in the Moors National Park. Seventeen miles to Whitby and the coast. Please note the cottage is very small the living room is 2.75mX 3.4m with a kitchen 2mX1.14m. Bedroom is 2.8mX 2.65m. Please note ceiling height to beams in bedroom is 1.88m.
The cottage is 260 years old and still has many of the original features including; stone floors, beamed ceilings, wooden spiral staircase and bare sandstone walls. This is not a holiday cottage it is my home when I am in the UK is very quirky so it lacks some of the standard holiday cottage features, their is no microwave, shower, internet or television. The kitchen is tiny but well equipped to cook basic meals. The cottage is tiny, possibly the smallest on Airbnb. The stairs are very narrow and steep, because of this the cottage is not really suitable for people with limited mobility, the elderly or couples with a baby or children. It is a perfect base for couples with a sense of adventure and a young outlook wanting to explore the moors and escape technology. Please note because of the small size we cannot accommodate children or pets.
Castleton is a beautiful village in the Esk Valley, it is in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 20 minutes in the car or 40 on the train will get you to Whitby and all of the delights it has to offer. Fish and chips, the seaside, shopping etc. Drive a bit further and you can come to Scarborough or York.
  • This cottage is tiny, but it had everything one would need to enjoy a short stay in the North York Moors. The heating unit on the first floor made the space super cozy, especially when you're surrounded by shelves and shelves of books! And the small kitchen has the basics you would need to cook anything you may buy from the Co-op that's only a few doors down from the cottage. Parking in town is pretty easy as long as you have a small enough car. Even with our larger Nissan vehicle, we were able to find a place late at night. The bed is extremely comfortable, especially with the heating pad turned on. The bath water also warmed quickly, and the windows on both floors provided extremely pleasing light during the morning and afternoon. Everything about this place is a relaxing and quiet getaway. And our walk down the block to the tea room in the morning was very cool too! So many kind people in this town and across all the towns in the Moors. You can't pass up the opportunity to stay in this historic house (around 200 years old!). And the booklet that James provides on the history of the cottage and the town is very good too! It really helped me appreciate our short stay even more.

  • James' father was welcoming, flexible and accommodating of our requests. The cottage was cosy, clean and completely perfect - just what we needed and wanted! We only wish we could have stayed longer. We were so impressed and will definitely return again. We will be recommending the cottage to everyone!

    Sophie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was beautiful and we throughly enjoyed our stay there. There was plenty of information about the area and the cottage itself, we found it very cozy and a pleasure to stay in. We will most certainly be back! Thanks Jemma and Mike

  • This was my second time staying in James's lovely cottage - a perfect place in a friendly village with both wild and picturesque surroundings to explore.

    Elspeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • James’ “tiny cottage” is absolutely perfect for a base to explore Castleton and the Moors. But for anybody who loves social history it’s even more of a gem! Despite its size it has everything you need (except WiFi and phone signal- but not a problem for us) and a great pub on the doorstep. Clean, cute and cosy, plus James’ dad was incredibly helpful and informative when we arrived. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much ⭐️

  • Brilliant little cottage from bygone era. You can really get the sense of life throughout the past two and a half centuries and little it changed up until quite recently. Great little taster for any 'Tiny house' enthusiasts.

The space is a reclaimed game larder dating from the late 1800's which has been lovingly restored and repurposed into a cosy and comfortable chalet. There are two beds, one upstairs in the loft and the other a sofa bed which folds out downstairs. There is a kitchen block complete with cups, plates, glasses etc. as well as a wood burning stove, mini fridge and television. The toilets and showers are a short walk away and are shared with the adjoining campsite.
The Game Larder was bought for the local shooting estate around the turn of the 20th century by Sir Francis Ley. Made of cedar wood and manufactured by the firm Boulton and Paul, the building spent most of the last century forgotten and unused in the woods until it was relocated a mile up the road and turned into something altogether different! We set the Game Larder facing down the Esk Valley and directly across from Danby beacon. The views are fantastic and the sunsets can be truly spectacular. The decking outside provides the perfect viewing platform to enjoy the scenery. We provide a small fridge, electric cooking hob, kettle, utensils, and a toaster, there is also a large fridge and freezer in the shower building. The bed is upstairs in the loft area but there is also the option for a sofa bed downstairs instead. The extra charge is for bedding and towels but you are more than welcome to bring your own sleeping bag, pillows and duvet instead. There is a TV/DVD player, as well as books, games and dvds. Lawnsgate Farm is a traditional sheep and cattle hill farm and there is also a small campsite opposite. We have Scottish blackface sheep and Galloway and shorthorn cows. We also have three bulls which are kept up in the shed during winter. The toilets and showers are in a converted building 20 metres away and are shared with the campsite. There are also washing up facilities, washer/dryer, and a freezer.
We are very lucky to live in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and be only a 20 minute walk away from the pretty village of Lealholm. The village boasts many amenities including a good pub, great shop, post office, garden centre and tea rooms. Towards Danby is the National Parks Moors Centre which is a must for anyone wanting to get acquainted with the area. There is also a bike hire place and cafe in the valley of Fryup which the Game Larder looks over. The area is amazing for walking and I am happy to help you out with any questions or suggestions for nearby walks. Further afield is Whitby which is about a 20 minute drive away. There are many traditional moorland villages to explore all within a 30 minute drive including Rosedale, Goathland, Farndale, and Grosmont. The beautiful fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay are also well worth a visit.
  • The Game Larder was exactly what we were looking for, a wonderful little escape in the heart of the Moors. I’d strongly recommend.

    Rob2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, easy to travel too. Aidan is a fantastic host, really helpful with quick response. The area is really pretty. We went during lambing season. It was a cuteness overload. The cabin itself is real cozy, comfortable and warm with real nice touches throughout. Aidan has a couple amazing cats, really friendly and the back cat with white socks loved to spend time with us, warming up in front the log fire. There’s a small community pub with an open fire and good food. We really really enjoyed our time here and it was tough to leave in the end. If you want a weekend away to get way from it all, this is the place to go! I couldn’t recommend it more.

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Game Larder is a gorgeous, tiny home made very cosy by its log fire. We had a gorgeous 1 night stay here to unwind from work. It is a perfect break for couples and we couldn’t recommend it more! Thank you Aidan for a lovely stay, and for being a super relaxed host. We will be back!

    Beverley2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cosy game larder is a great little get away for anyone who wants away from busy life to take in the views and peacefulness. It’s so cosy containing a lovely log burner. It has all you need there for your stay. Aidan and Ella are lovely and leave you to enjoy your stay but are around if you need anything.

    Kirsty2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, Aidan is welcoming and took us to meet the animals even though he was so busy calving. Log Burner was hot once going and fab to have with a snow storm! Visited Board Inn in Village - book as it’s busy and food is fantastic especially Sunday Lunch.

    Linzi2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely 2 night stay at Aidan’s farm. The little lodge was stocked with everything you could need, it was super cosy and the log fire warmed it up nicely. We were there during Storm Dennis and felt secure and warm, it was great being on the moors during the storm with the winds hammering by. Aidan was kind enough to show us the Lamas, sheep and introduced the cats. Being animals lovers we were more than happy for one of them to join us for cuddles in the lodge. There are some great little pubs near by, we ate at a pub in Castleton which was amazing. We would definitely stay here again, Aidan was a super friendly host and provided us with some fresh eggs from his hens, bonus!

    Jenny2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quirky little place, the fire was a life saver and a nice cosy tough

    Joe2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cracking place in a great location, we were allowed to make ourselves at home from arrival and get on with our stay. Aidan was great checking in on us to make sure were sorted. Location was exactly what you would want. Rural and quiet, a good escape. Plenty of villages are in driving distance with Whitby and the coast 20 minutes away The hut is a cosy place with a great interior. Homely and warm. Once the wood burning stove is away it's the perfect place to relax. Kitchen block is stocked well and the sleeping arrangements are well though out and comfortable All in all a amazing experience, would highly recommend and will definitely be back again and for longer next time !

  • Great place with nice touches like candles games and sky tv. Lovely and clean. Great shower and I am always disappointed by showers! Real fire. Loads of board games and big dining table to play them at. We walked into saltburn on sea with ease but hilly on the way back if you have mobility problems but the bus service seemed fairly frequent even on a weekend. Shop across the road. Fast communication with host too.

  • Very easy to find, warm and comfortable. The location right across from the market was nice and little things like parking, constant heat and early communication with checkin instructions were all much appreciated.

  • I enjoyed my stay here. Caroline was welcoming, the cottage was warm and had everything I needed for my stay including some tasty eggs from her hens! Parking was right outside and had the weather been better I would have been able to use the table and chairs outside.

    Janet2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property - even better than it looks in the pictures. Very clean and well equipped, and the field at the back was great for a lively dog. Caroline was helpful and welcoming - we’ll definitely be returning.

    Rik2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year break in Caroline’s very comfortable barn. It was warm, spacious, comfortable and homely. Caroline had provided many little extras which were very welcome. All the equipment worked well. The bed was extremely comfortable and although there were a couple of cockerels with the hens we weren’t disturbed at all by them. There are many lovely short and long walks in the area and Gt Ayton is a picturesque quintessentially English village. I’d have every confidence in recommending a holiday here.

  • Fabulous location for touring the area, this cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Caroline is a great host, creating a relaxed atmosphere and communicating really quickly. We felt very welcome and would definitely return when back in the area.

Book here for a peaceful cosy night’s stay in the heart of Great Ayton! The guest bedroom is a small cosy size with desk space and comfy 3/4 bed. Kitchen/bathroom shared, front room is private. Cottage is on a quiet street with a little shop 4 doors down for amenities & curry house at end of road. 10 min walk to the charming high street with pubs, shops, fish & chips, 2 micro pubs. It’s a shared property with myself & my 2 cats Amber and Arthur who are lovely - only cat lovers should book here!
This is a cosy cottage over 150 years old, ideal place to set up camp whilst you explore the boyhood village of James Cook - Great Ayton. 2 cats live here so only book if you love felines and aren’t allergic! Guests have a private bedroom, shared bathroom and kitchen with myself. Front room is a private space for me! Other than that make yourself at home. There is a small yard at exterior of property which is the entrance for guests. I use the front door entrance. Looking forward to welcoming you.
The pretty village of Great Ayton is perched on the banks of the River Leven. The village has ancient origins, with several Neolithic sites within the parish boundary. In former times, the village's industries included linen making, tanning, brewing and mining. Nowadays, the village is well known for its two picturesque village greens, Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum and proximity to the intriguing Roseberry Topping mountain. There are plenty of walks to enjoy, you must try Suggits sweets and ice cream shop and enjoy a walk along the river Leven.
  • Sophie made us feel welcome in her cosy cottage in Great Ayton. The bed was comfy and there were all the required amenities. Her two cats are adorable. The location is perfect, with shops and pubs a short walk away and a short drive to the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, where we enjoyed a climb up the infamous Roseberry Topping for stunning views. Intend to stay again!

Carlin how is a very small close knit community. The houses are predominantly terrace houses that were for the miners and steel workers.
In Carlin How there is a chip shop , and a couple of shops , but the neighbour villages and towns of Loftus, Saltburn, Skelton all have bigger supermarkets and eateries

Often referred to as the North Yorkshire Moors there is over 550 square miles of heather moorland, forests, fields, valleys and coastline all within the National Park. Your stay at Swallow Cottage is set in one of the most picturesque valleys and is ideally located for exploring the whole area throughout the year. A short drive eastwards through the moors takes you to the wonderful fishing port of Whitby with its attractive harbour, cliffs and cliff-top abbey. The station here was also used in the filming of Harry Potter. To the South-West is the ancient market town of Helmsley with its historic castle, quaint town square, narrow streets and the Victorian Helmsley Walled Garden alongside the stately home and estate of Duncombe Park. To the North-West the rolling moorland leads to the Cleveland Hills where Roseberry Topping towers over the surrounding landscape. Closer by there is the North York Moors Visitor Centre at Danby en-route to Whitby, or the open air museum of Ryedale Folk Museum in the pretty village of Hutton le Hole – where sheep and lambs still graze within the village. The award winning wedding venue of Danby Castle is also nearby. Slightly further afield there is Flamingo Land with it’s theme park and zoo, Playdale Farm and on the coast, the seaside town of Scarborough offering the Sea Life Centre. Castle Howard is also well worth a visit with it’s world-famous historic house, formal gardens, lake woodland walks. The beautiful historic city of York is about an eighty-minute drive into the centre. Alternatively, York’s Monks Cross Park & Ride facility is only an hour away.
  • Absolutely incredible stay-the cottage is amazing! We were blown away when we walked in. The location is so so beautiful & peaceful, the animals around the farm are fab & our toddler daughter had the time of her life chatting away to them all. Helen was such a great host-the special touches around were lovely and everything was thought about. Even the walk down through her woods with all the magical creatures to spot...perfect for exploring with a little one. The hot tub and views were amazing too! Couldn’t recommend it enough-we felt so at home & rested after our stay. Thank you! We’ll definitely be back!

  • Swallow Cottage is a very special place, everything about it has the wow factor & that’s all any of us could say when we first arrived. Wow, wow, wow!!!! Every conceivable thing you could think you might need & a hundred more things that you hadn’t thought about are all provided for you. Helen’s hosting is excellent, welcoming & available but without any intrusiveness, this was ideal for us. Helen was super friendly & our little girl loved helping Helen with feeding the ducks & donkeys. Everything is absolutely sparkling clean, comfortable & very cosy especially with the added bonus of underfloor heating. I was expecting the cottage to be gorgeous because I had seen the pictures but nothing could prepare me for just how magical it is. A really very special place, thank you so much for having us to stay, we most definitely will be back.

    Kelly2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Cottage at the end of February and we were lucky enough to enjoy snow, sunshine and sunsets. The cottage is just amazing, so cosy and comfortable, with gorgeous views of the North Yorkshire moors (which I mainly enjoyed watching from the hot tub). Helen is a wonderful host and has thought of everything and more. The little touches she adds made our trip extra special. Chilled Prosecco on arrival and even a gift for our little girl, who absolutely loved feeding the donkeys and ponies. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay.

    Chris2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic family getaway in this gorgeous cottage, surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors. The cottage has lots of little touches and the animals at the back fence were an added bonus!

  • Simply THE best........ Where to start with such an amazing stay. Swallow cottage and Helen are just wonderful. From the exquisite decor, thoughtful touches, amazing amenities and idyllic setting to a warm welcome, four legged friends and a hot tub to die for ... our time here was truly incredible and we cannot recommend a stay here enough

    Katie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beyond expectations across the board. Lovely, remote location. Cosy cottage with top class facilities, combined with literally everything you could need during your stay. Accidentally left something at home? Don't worry it's probably already here. We really liked the extra touches such as food for the animals, arrival drink and lovely gift for our baby daughter. We've already recommended it to friends and do so without any hesitation.

  • A cosy cottage kitted out to a very high standard. Handy location for Staithes, Whitby, Saltburn and the North York Moors railway and good network of paths from the cottage. Be aware that the road is a bit rough and parking fairly tight. The bathrooms are cosy but you do have 2. The view of Boulby Mine was a surprise, but other directions have lovely views. Overall, we loved it.

We are in a very peaceful location with an abundance of wild and bird life, dark skies and open views. There is a large unfenced pond to the front of the cottage, children must be supervised at all times. Access to the cottage is via a farm track, not suitable for very low cars.
We are close to The Wainstones, popular for climbing, and are a short drive from beautiful moorland villages, the North Yorks steam railway, Castle Howard, Fountains and Rievaulx Abbeys and the spectacular North Yorks Moors. The coastal towns of Whitby, Saltburn and Robin Hoods Bay are also very popular.. We are a haven for walkers with the Coast to Coast, Cleveland Way and numerous other walks accessible from the doorstep. The pretty town of Stokesley is six miles away with numerous pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops.
  • My second stay here and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Spotlessly clean and comfortable, stunning views and really peaceful.

  • Super place to stay with everything I needed. The cottage was warm and welcoming with parking directly outside. Long drive up but I had no problem at all in my car. I particularly enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder in the morning and was lucky enough to spot a woodpecker!

  • What a marvelous find, a clean, extremely comfortable self contained cottage in a beautiful part of the North Yorkshire Moors. We love the countryside and the cottage provided a delightful retreat with great views, an abundance of wildlife and walking trails right on the doorstep. The cottage wants for nothing, it is clean, bright and airy and contains everything you are likely to need whilst on holiday. The friendly owners live right next door and although non intrusive they are there if you have problems or need anything.

A delightful old cottage overlooking The Green with a mix of antique, upcycled and vintage inspired decoration. The cottage is dog friendly, with a patio and large garden. Close to the the town with all manner of restaurants and friendly hostelries. Many of our guests have used the cottage when they have had family weddings in the area. These venues include Crathorne Hall, chapters, Whinstone View, Treebridge Hotel and Judges.
The decor is a mix of vintage and antique finds along with upcycled pieces I have collected over the years. A vintage inspired bathroom with a bathtub and a separate walk in shower cubicle. The kitchen has a range cooker and a cosy sitting area with a log burner and an outlook over the private patio and rear garden. At the front of the cottage overlooking The Green there is a cosy sitting room with an open fire and TV.
Stokesley is an elegant market town with impressive Georgian and Victorian buildings and known as a gateway to the North York Moors. The River Leven, crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge, provides a perfect spot for walking and picnics. There spectacular views of Roseberry Topping and the North York Moors from the east end of the town. There are lots of individual shops and small cafes, numerous places to eat and quirky bars and pubs catering for all tastes. The seaside town of Whitby is a short drive across the beautiful North Yorkshire moors. It is famous for its connection with Bram Stoker the author of Dracula. It has quaint cobbled streets with quirky shops to explore. No visit is complete without trying the world famous fish and chips in the Magpie cafe. The market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk famous for James Herriot the vet, Ripon and Helmsley are a short drive away. They have cobbled market squares, delightful tea rooms and pubs serving great beers and food. The North Yorkshire Railway is a short drive from Stokesley. This famous railway has appeared on the Harry Potter Movies and the police drama Heartbeat. The historic city of York is easy accessible with a short drive on the A19. A pub for every day of the year, so the locals say! There is great shopping and loads of historic sites to visit. The Jorvik Viking centre is a must see attraction and has recently been re- imagined. Harrogate the spa town is close by and no visit would be complete without a visit to Bettys cafe and tea rooms. The fat Rascals are to die for. A little further away are the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Well worth exploring if your time allows.

  • What a beautiful cottage in a perfect location. The whole process was so easy. Having the key safe took away the pressure of rushing to get there at a certain time as we arrived very late. The cottage was clean and had loads of nice touches and most of all it was comfortable. I will be returning for sure. Thank you

The cottage was stylish and lovely and clean, with extra touches of fresh flowers, biscuits etc, and a walking map as we had mentioned a local walk we wanted to do.. Great location near all the shops and places to eat in Stokesley and a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely recommend this lovey cottage and Delia and Andy were great hosts.

This self contained holiday cottage offers a chance to get closer to the workings of a family dairy farm. It is situated in the North York Moors National Park, midway between the moors and the coast and just a fifteen minute drive (or slightly longer bus ride) from Whitby. The accomodation is unusually spacious for a one bedroomed cottage, it is light, warm and very well insulated but don’t forget there is the potential for noise and smells from the farm!
This holiday home is a one bedroomed cottage on our working dairy farm. We are on the North Yorkshire Moors, only five miles to Staithes and the coast and ten miles to Whitby. The self contained accomodation is all on the ground floor. The very large living area has a kitchen in the corner with a fridge and freezer, breakfast bar and table. There is a seating area with a television and DVD player. There is one bedroom with a double bed. The cottage has its own front door and you can park just outside. The cottage has a small back garden with open views of the countryside. We live next door and are generally available to assist in the unlikely event that any problems arise. Our farmhouse is a Grade II listed building and it was built before 1750. The attached cottage is in the former cow byre and it retains the original beams. It was fully renovated in 2012 and has the benefit of double glazing and underfloor heating. The farm and buildings are quite ‘green’. We have two ground source heat pumps and much of the electricity we use is generated on the farm by solar panels and a wind turbine.
The farm is in a small hamlet with about a dozen houses. A footpath runs through the farmyard and it is possible to walk down to the coast and up onto the moors from the house. There is a garage and a tea room in the hamlet. Unfortunately at the moment our village pub is closed for refurbishment so is only operating as a tea room. However other pubs are available in neighbouring villages. We are ten miles from Whitby and five miles from Staithes. The National Park Centre at Danby is also five miles away. This is a great place to learn about the history, geography and wildlife of the local area.
  • Wonderful place to stay, great location. Cottage had everything you needed and very clean. Loved it

    Gerard2020-03-19T00:00:00Z

  • A great location within easy distance of Whitby. The accommodation is warm, spacious and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the wood-burning stove. Our first trip away since becoming parents and we couldn’t be happier. The hosts were very accommodating and were even able to provide a play-mat for our 4 month old.

  • We had a lovely time staying here for 3 nights. The cottage is spacious, warm and comfortable, and in a good spot for exploring the moors and the coast. Barbara also gave us a little tour of the farm which was very interesting!

    Lucy2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous cottage! We absolutely loved staying here. The cottage itself is warm, cosy and clean, and the location is perfect for exploring the North York Moors. Barbara provides a lot of useful information about the surrounding area. Scaling Dam is a short walk away, which has a circular route to run or walk around. We loved exploring the area by day and returning to Barbara's cosy cottage in the evening to cook and relax. Highly recommended!

  • Wow! Elizabeth's lodge is truly stunning, light, bright, spacious with fantastic views! I think it has to be my favourite air bnb place so far...and I've stayed in a few! It was so clean, private and really quiet (apart from the wind and rain storm ciara brought! haha) We did an 8 mile circular walk from the village of carlton, up to carlton bank, along to Faceby and finished in the pub back at carlton with a roaring fire and much deserved pint of ale. Highly recommend Elizabeth's place and can't wait to return in the warmer weather.

  • Super place to stay. The Lodge had everything I needed, was warm and comfortable, quiet and with lovely views. The homemade cake was delicious and I enjoyed the eggs knowing they came from the farm. Hope to come back when the weather is better so that I can make use of the garden and explore the local walks.

Lovely warm and friendly family home situated in the beautiful village of Marske by the Sea. This is an ideal spot that's centrally located making it perfect for commuters, students, contractors or weekend visitors to the area. Just a short walk from the bohemian town of Saltburn, 20 minutes from Middlesbrough, close to North Yorkshire Moors, Whitby, Northallerton, Thirsk and York. Surrounded by stunning countryside, beautiful clean beaches and breathtaking views.
My home is a modest 3 bedroomed terraced that overlooks a green with views of the countryside and woods beyond. The room you have booked is furnished with a single bed, a chest of 3 drawers and a built in wardrobe. Your room will have fresh clean bedding and towels, (if staying for a long duration, towels and bedding are changed every week or before on request) a hairdryer, full length mirror, tea, coffee facilities and a TV. You are welcome to help yourself to fresh OJ, tea, coffee and use of the kitchen. Parking is to the rear of the house and I recommend that this is how you access the property given the front of the house is not accessible by road and locating us by postcode can get confusing for people who don't know the area. Further details on how to find us will be provided prior to your stay.
My neighbourhood is largely made up of private housing which is ex authority property. It's quiet given no road access from the front and only parking at the rear - so no passing traffic. Marske village has a vibrant array of micro bars selling real ale, pubs, cafe's and restaurants - the village continues to grow in its diversity to cater for a wide variety of taste. We have the beautiful beach as seen on some of the photos and only a short and enjoyable walk from Saltburn which boasts the well known Victorian Italian Gardens, art galleries, restaurants, pier and I recommend a visit to The Cave on Milton Street, full of interesting art, photography and lots more bespoke items and gifts. Of course, the towns of Redcar and Middlesbrough are just a short car journey away making this a good place to stay if attending the University but want a quiet location to come back to . We have good access to North Yorkshire Moors, Whitby is a 35 min drive and in the other direction are the market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk and historic city of York.
  • Kay is a lovely host, welcoming and helpful, and her place is a brilliant base for coast path runs and sea swims. This is a great area, with interesting history and landscape and I really enjoyed my stay.

  • The room is excellent and the place is immaculately clean. Kay is an amazing host. Unfortunately my work trip was cut short but will be back whenever I find myself in the area again!

  • Lovely, friendly, welcoming host, nice quiet spotless house in a nice quiet area; seriously I slept for nearly 10 hours one night, something I never do at home. My five night stay provided a great four full days in a great location for exploring North Yorkshire. By way of example, on day one I walked along the beach from Marske to Saltburn and then on to Staithes along the stunning Cleveland Way (catching the excellent X4 bus back to Marske). The next day I caught the X4 to Whitby and walked from Whitby to Staithes. On day three I caught the train via Thornaby to spend a great day out enjoying everything there is to enjoy in York, and on day four I caught the train via Middlesbrough along the “scenic route” to Whitby, getting off at Grosmont (a couple of stops before Whitby) to enjoy a splendid day of operational steam trains and 40’s nostalgia at the annual “Railway in Wartime” festival being held by the North Yorks Moors Railway and Eden Camp. A fabulous break, made possible by a fabulous host; highly recommended.

  • Kay is a first class host, who's home is spotless and so welcoming. Its located in a first class area, perfect for exploring the beaches and the nearby Yorkshire moors. Staying with Kay is like home from home. 10 out of 10.

An absolute bargain if you simply want a bed for the night. This single room has a supremely comfortable antique Staples bed (by appointment to His Majesty the King!) We live in a dead end road so there is absolutely no traffic. You can hear a pin drop... or the sea, or the band from the Bandstand on a Sunday afternoon. The gorgeous Saltburn Woods are literally thirty seconds away at the bottom of the street, and we're just a short walk from Saltburn's famous Cliff Lift, Pier and Beach.
The room contains a small set of shelves, a small cupboard with more shelves and a shelf lamp. The shared bathroom is just across the hallway with a shower and bath.
Saltburn-by-the-Sea is unique and we're just a short walk from the main streets with their boutique shops and cafes. The Italian Gardens are five minutes away through the Valley Gardens at the end of our street. Our huge beach is just down the road.
