Places to stay in Kilcolgan
Cahercastle has been standing since the late 1400s One needs to be somewhat crazy to be owned by a castle , itsowned me now for 20 years, anyway it is our home its not perfect, so don't expect perfection ,we do have cobwebs and a little dust (so asthma sufferers take note)We endeavour to make your stay as comfortable as possible Please note when making a request to stay please take time to write an introductory message or have an informative profile We look forward to welcoming you Peter / Eva
A beautiful, original medieval castle experience can be yours for a weekend, a week, or even longer. You'll be staying in the master bedroom, the highest room in the castle. This castle has been restored to its original state by using traditional materials, and also by using cutting edge technology. We used traditional local stone, limestone, as well as oak beams, to make the castle as traditional as possible, but it also has modern conveniences, such as solar water heating. The castle was built sometime in the 1400's but was refurbished in the last decade. It is comprised of a master bedroom upstairs, with access to the turret, a living room and dining room, two guest bedrooms, and some storage rooms. I'm Peter, your host, and I spent the last ten years refining and refurbishing the castle - the pictures can attest to how well that has worked out. Two room in the castle are still under construction - the storage room downstairs. Remember, this is a castle that is over 600 years old. That means it's not perfect. Castles were never designed with bathrooms and showers, so we've improvised. You'll have to come downstairs to have a bath which is located in the living room - this is the quirkiest part of the castle. You have full private access to the living room, kitchen , bath and your master bedroom Castles are built with solid stone, so there is a huge fireplace with a cooker to keep the place warm and of course underfloor heating complements of our pet Dragon that lives in the dungeon The castle has lots of quirks, its a great and fun place to stay the night. Galway City is a 25 minute drive from the castle which is a very beautiful city. The castle is around a 20 minute drive from Galway Airport, a 45 minute drive from Shannon Airport and Dublin is two hours away. What to expect: lots of winding staircases, a castle that has been lovingly restored, but there are some cobwebs, and it gives you the real Irish castle experience. It's not pristine, its not perfect, but it's a real castle. There are lots of sheep and cows in the nearby fields - but lots of peace and quiet. This is a very unique place to stay. There's nothing like it around, where you can say that you stayed in an actual castle. It's not a tourist attraction (like Blarney Castle) and it's not pristine like a hotel, but you'll have a great time visiting. You'll need a car. The castle is about two miles from the nearest public transport. (Craughwell has both train and buses running regular schedules) I can help with anything like lighting a fire or answering any of your questions. P.S. as this is our home we like to get an idea of who's coming to stay so please write a message of introduction or have a written profile as we do sometimes decline if we just see a one liner and nothing on a profile so to avoid disappointment fill out your profile
Countryside, farms, cows ,sheep , 3 acre garden, stream , river , trees, And you might see the odd fox, heron, pheasant, rabbit and of course the friendly farmers and neighbours cctv in operation outside the castle
  • Pete was an outstanding host. He spins a great story and sets you up with all you need to stay at a castle and explore surrounding areas. You have the bedroom and living room floors. Pete has done an amazing job recreating this castle with a ton of detail from medieval times and enough modern amenities to make a truly unique experience. I can't recommend this stay enough. Easily my favorite Air BnB stay.

  • What a magical way to kick off our stay in Ireland! It literally felt like we were back in medieval ages, but with quirky, modern touches! Peter and Eva are so great!!!!! And we loved their sweet little cat! We want to come back and stay longer again!

    Bree2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A truely amazing night. The castle is adorable, quirky and a one of a kind experience! We totally loved our stay.

    Paula2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was even better than we expected. We couldn’t stop oohing and aahing at all of the neat architecture and details. Peter and Eva were so kind and welcoming. This place was definitely the highlight of our trip to Ireland.

    Kristen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Pete's castle is definitely not to be missed! Pete and Eva are excellent hosts and fantastic people, and the castle is so much fun. Do yourself a favor and book at least one night if it is available during your holiday timeframe!

    Alicia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I can't remember exactly where I came across this castle ABnB, but I am so glad I did!! We booked a few months in advance to ensure we wouldn't miss out. Our stay here was not only one of the best parts of our time in Galway, but a highlight on our entire holiday in Ireland. We had everything we needed. The rooms and beds clean & comfortable. Despite being surrounded by stone, you will feel warm & cozy here. Peter was an amazing host and prompt in all of or communications. He, also, happened to be a joy to speak with.

    Jessica2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • To experience the friendliness and heritage of Ireland, you have to stay here at Pete’s Castle. What an amazing experience and Pete is a wonderful host.

    Tabitha2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • All I can say is just that this is a must, what an amazing experience & treat, just go !! You will not regret it. About Pete ,his passion & dedication to this castle is something I simply cannot describe. It is truly humbling. Pete is very interesting & you could listen to his stories about his love for the castle .The work he has put into it is phenomenal. About the castle :From a ruin, he turned it into something so magical , so intriguing, quirky & fascinating. Myself and my daughter only had one night there , which was not enough for us , try do 2 at least if you can. I can only rate it as probably THE most interesting place I ve ever stayed. Every detail , & consideration will have you spellbound . Trust me & go book it right now . Thank you Pete & Eva for the magic !

Beautifully restored Pre-Famine cottage. Listed on The Financial Times as a tranquil escape from the bustle of modern life. Rural setting surrounded by lacy stone walls, secluded gardens, and still on the outskirts of the cultural city of Galway.
Riding stables across the road and 9 hole golf course and driving range 1/2 mile away
  • One of our favorite spots. Can't beat the ambiance!!! Absolutely stunning!!

    Chantel2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique place to stay that you will remember as a highlight of your trip. The host is friendly, quick to respond and goes out of his way to make you comfortable. He even baked a tasty loaf of gluten free bread for me. The cottage itself is exceptionally cozy and charming. Our visit coincided with miserable weather but that just added to the allure of sitting by the fire with a good book. In fact, the only downside of staying here is that you might not want to venture out to sightsee. The cottage is also located outside of town in a beautiful "secret" garden, so you have to drive to restaurants. That was only a small minus given the peaceful setting. The pictures can't possibly capture the quaintness of the place.

    Jackie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • If this space is available book it. Narrow road there but worth it! Would gladly make the trip again!

    Kevin2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is so quaint and pretty. The thatched roof and little stream outside made it picture book gorgeous. Loved the traditional rustic feel inside. Sitting by the open fire on a cold afternoon was a real treat. The bed was comfortable. Getting in to Galway city centre was very easy by taxi. We had a lovely stay. For longer next time!

    Diana2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Unique and special space. Authentic Irish cottage filled with good energy, nostalgia, and charm. Very kind and helpful hosts. We loved our time here and will remember it for years to come.

    Kati2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here, such a beautiful quaint and cozy cottage we almost didn’t want to leave! The homemade bread was delicious and it had everything else we needed :) it was perfect for a romantic getaway, very relaxing and homey. Would definitely recommend anyone stay here although a car would be helpful.

    Olivia-Grace2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a private peaceful and idyllic break in a traditional style Irish cottage I could not recommend enough. Thanks again. We loved it

Bookeen Hall is a 200 year old church about 20 minutes from Galway City and within easy reach of the Cliffs of Moher, The Burren and Connemara. We offer a private room (with a king size bed and a single bed) with a private bathroom. For larger groups we can make a second room available (with a king size bed), so can accommodate up to 5. We live here with our two dogs and look forward to meeting you! We recommend having a rental car. The nearest train station is 8 miles away in Athenry!
A protected building and national monument, Bookeen Hall is a former Church of Ireland Chapel built in 1820. Part of the Dunsandle estate, the church was used for services by the estate’s Church of Ireland congregation. Built in stone, the rectangular hall with its large gothic windows and solid bell-tower can be seen across fields and woodland, making it a distinctive and well known local landmark. It was deconsecrated in 1920 and 200 years after it was built it was given a new lease of life and converted into a two bedroom home. Inside the interiors are bright, open and contemporary. The church is comprised of a large open plan living/dining room and two bedrooms. The guest bedroom available to visitors has access to its own bell tower/reading room with great views of the surrounding countryside and private bathroom complete with claw-foot bathtub. The guest room has a king size bed and a single bed and can accommodate three people. Bookeen Hall is situated on the edge of Dunsandle wood which has some great walking and running routes, which your hosts, both keen runners, would be happy to show you. Quiet and peaceful, it is surrounded by woodland, and fields full of cattle and sheep. Easily accessible by car, Bookeen Hall is just 2 mins from the Dublin / Galway motorway (Dublin airport is 2 hours away); about 1 hour from Shannon airport; a 20 min drive from beautiful Galway city; and located just a 10 min drive from the neighbouring towns of Athenry and Loughrea, both of which have a good selection of cafes, restaurants, and bars, and good public transport links. The church is ideally located for day trips to Connemara and the Cliffs of Moher and Burren region. Enjoy our home baking with tea/coffee when you arrive and a continental breakfast each morning. We are happy to cater for all dietary requirements but please let us know any allergies or preferences in advance. What to expect: a restored church – with a light, bright and homey feel to it. It’s also home to a greyhound called Mouse and a lurcher called Birdy who can’t wait to meet you!
  • What a great night. Amazing hospitality, swoon-worthy locale, a full breakfast and two cuddly pups. What more could you want?

    Alexandra2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay in a unique building. Loved the breakfast and the beautiful dogs. Highly recommended.

    Nelson2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Perfectly clean and secure. Breakfast every morning was great. I got to know the area very well and this place was one of the best airBNBs you can possibly stay at in Ireland. They took me to the train station and picked me up. I also got local tips and got to take the dogs for a walk! Would stay here again one day!

    Dominick2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rate this Airbnb enough. Its a fantastic place to stay, stylish and cosy (we stayed mid storms). Ours hosts were very accommodating and the breakfast sublime. The church has been tastefully converted and in keeping with its heritage. Directions from the host are very accurate and easy to follow. If your lucky you will meet the two dogs as well. Highly recommended, would love to stay again.

    Bob2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovers of history and nature would just adore this. The house/church is beautifully and tastefully renovated, and the hosts are warm and welcoming. Joggers, walkers, cyclists, and dog lovers would especially feel right at home! The room is spacious and light, and has old stairs up to the top of the old steeple with a reading spot. You also have a private bathroom with shower and a tub. The breakfast was delicious and a wonderful point to start the rest of our journey on. I highly recommend them! We will definitely be back.

This is not just a simple town house. The ZenDen is a penthouse that is situated on top of a three story building. It is tucked away in it's own little paradise and because of it's location the latin Quarter, one of the most vibrant and magical parts of the city.. A unique, self catering location that is sure to impress.
This is a truly unique location. The ZenDen is situated on the top floor of a three storey complex that sits on Galway’s skyline. It also has it’s own roof terrace with seating area which comes to life in the spring and summer months. As for location, it does not get more central. In less than a ten second walk from my door, you will have reached Quay street, the most lively and vibrant area of Galway also known as the latin Quarter. In our opinion this is the most vibrant and magical part of the city and the ZenDen is like a hidden Utopia in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Your room will have a standard double bed available. All pillows and duvets are filled with duck and down and with very comfortable mattress. The beds are as comfortable as possible so I am sure you will have a beautiful nights rest. We want people to feel like they are in a home away from home, so please do make yourself feel at home.
The house is situated seconds from the most lively and vibrant part of Galway a has a very unique feel. Seconds after leaving the ground entrance door you will be immersed by the lively energy that is Galway. There are a vast array of restaurants on you doorstep, not to mention the pubs. The river walk beside the spanish arch is only down the street also. A short walk down Quay Street brings you to my favourite area the Spanish Arch and the fast flowing waters of the river Corrib. This area is the real heart of this magical city and I am sure on arrival you will agree.

The BATHROOM is downstairs, beside the kitchen, it is shared with two other rooms and we make sure to keep it clean and tidy. Quay Street, Shop and the Latin Quarter are just 3 minutes walk from the house. Our home is literally located in the best spot of the city, in the romantic neighbourhood of "Claddagh" where the "Claddagh Ring" designer used to live. This is the perfect place for young couples and backpackers to stay, for those who enjoy authentic experiences. We offer FREE PARKING SPACE, in the front yard of the house, which is very convenient considering that parking spots in the city center are very expensive and difficult to find. HOUSE OF SWANS, CHOOSE BETWEEN 5 ROOMS In this link you will find all the rooms we provide for our guests: https://www.airbnb.ie/users/31087068/listings?user_id=31087068&s=50 The house has 7 rooms and 5 bathrooms. Each room has different size and characteristics. We use up to 5 rooms with Airbnb, if you book in good advance you could have the choice of booking the room that best suits you.
Our home is in a genuinely unique spot, by the waterfront side of the Claddagh, oldest neighbourhood of the fishermen village of Galway. It is a beautiful, charming and quiet neighbourhood, yet just 3 minutes walk to the main street, Shop Street. Have you heard of the Claddagh Ring? Right, symbol of Ireland, it was named after this place, where its designer used to live.

You can buy Galway Bay oysters and mussels from Kelly's Oysters who are a 2 minute walk away.
  • Our stay at Laura's was very pleasant. She was a host, with her husband, attentive and very concerned about the well-being of all. We loved the little house, functional and full of charm, the little touches, the garden, the friendly animals. The house is located near the sea, it is possible to walk there, which is a nice walk. The region is sublime and there is a lot to do, for those who love the sometimes wild nature and the elements. Very nice experience, we will come back to Laura with joy !!!!!

    Laurence2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house with a nice little veranda looking out at chickens, ducks and donkeys, it’s also in an interesting area with Tyrone House on the way, Kinvara nearby and great wildlife all around.

    Louise2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place is lovely for a quiet getaway. She came out to greet us and chat, telling us some great places to eat nearby and a bit of the local history. There was a lovely little breakfast waiting for us in the fridge. I would highly recommend this place.

    James2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Bluebell for a week’s time! We were greeted by the friendly dogs as we drove up to the home, as well as by the ducks and chickens! The home was clean, comfortable, and well-furnished. Laura had fresh eggs, soda bread, and other breakfast items for our first breakfast. Lauren provided wonderful dining ideas (Moran’s has the best fish and chips around!); and gave great feedback on places we wanted to visit. Property located a fair distance from Galway, but convenient enough. Strongly recommend.

    Shauna2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautiful. A quick 10 minute walk to the water in a secluded and beautiful neighborhood. Laura was quick to respond and we really loved every single recommendation she gave us. We would definitely stay again if we came back!

    Holly2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed for 4 nights and I only can say it is perfect. Laura is lovely and she gave us good advices to visit that area. The appartment is modern and very clean. Some basic products ( salt, oil, sugar, bread, but also butter and jam) are available for guest, so it is not necessary to buy

  • Martin was such a hospitable and caring host. My two roommates and I stayed one night at his accommodation and he was a huge help. We were unfamiliar with the area and had such quick responses when we needed help or recommendations. One instance, in particular, Martin went above and beyond to help us and make sure our stay was as effortless as possible. Ten times out of ten I would recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you, Martin, for all your help and beautiful flat! We'll be back!

    Gwenael2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice space with good privacy! Jane was a very nice host

    Amber2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The ensuite bedroom at Jane's is wonderful. It is beautifully decorated and spacious and the bed is v comfortable. It is also more than excellent value for money. Jane and John were the most gracious hosts and we had wonderful conversations with them. They have traveled and lived all over the world and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner they made for us. They gave us local tips for things to do and we found those very useful. We also enjoyed hanging out with their adorable dog. All in all a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it.

    Kanchan2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Even though they had guests in town, Jane and John kindly welcomed us in their home and made sure we had everything we needed. Didn't get to take advantage of the home cooked meals but they sounded amazing! Would recommend for other travelers as the location is great, and good for families with small children. They were warm and friendly hosts.

    Sarah2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • John and Jane were very nice and took care of us during our stay. The full Irish breakfast was great to have it , and the site is perfect to reache the Cliffs of Moher. Kinvara is a really nice and beautiful small village, perfect to have dinner, and Galway is just 20 minutes drive. We totally recommend this place. Hope to be back in the future !!!

  • The airbnb was perfect for an overnight trip to Oranmore. The town centre is less than a 10 minute walk from Thelma's airbnb and less than a minute from a Lidl. The Airbnb was clean, well heated and the bed was comfortable. As mentioned in other comments, you have to walk through the house to access the Airbnb, but Thelma and family are incredibly friendly so it didn't feel awkward. Would recommend for a night or two in Oranmore.

  • Much bigger than expected! 2 large bedrooms, great kitchen/living room, and a very large bathroom. We had a great time, and our two toddlers loved the glass sunroom. Damian had a nice warm fire burning when we checked it, so it was very warm and cozy. Definitely recommend!

    Jake2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is very large. Both bedrooms are spacious and private. Damien had a nice fire going for us so the living room/kitchen were very cozy when we arrived.

  • Our stay at Damian’s Airbnb was nothing short of wonderful. From the communication leading up to the trip, to the helpful information he provided about the city center and surrounding areas, we were sorted for the entirety of our stay. Not to go without mentioning that spacious bathroom and bathtub!... what a treat after a long day walking about and getting caught in the rain! Staying above a local pub was such a nice addition after a long day out as well, and the locals’ engagement and suggestions for the rest of our trip were so appreciated. Would definitely recommend to future travelers and friends thinking of visiting this beautiful pet of the country. Thanks Damian!!

  • Kieren was amazing! His place was cute, quiet, and central. It’s perfect. Kieren talked to us every chance he got and even gave us a lift to the bus stop before our departure. It was confusing when we got there because the tiny house is behind his house so we couldn’t find it but we called him and he answered immediately and gave us instruction. I would recommend this cute tiny house to anyone!

  • Vanessa and her mum Jaqueline are wonderful hosts. The house is just as advertised, very clean, and has everything you might need for your stay here. It is a close walk to Tesco/Lidl and other shops, and an easy 15 min walk to get downtown. If you're needing to register your Visa with GARDA, apply for a PPSN, etc it is simple to get to these places from their home as well. Our communication was always fast too, and they went above and beyond to help me while I was trying to relocate to Ireland. I can definitely recommend their home to you!

    Breana2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy room in a lovely house. Was perfect for me with my hire car, and was a cheap taxi home from the city after having a few drinks. Would definitely stay again if I come back to Galway!

    Rachel2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I was staying 1 month in Vanessa's accommodation. Both she and her mother Jacqueline were extremely attentive and kind to me, helped me a lot and the atmosphere of the house was always familiar and warm. The room is beautiful and the house is always clean and tidy. It is 10 min from the center of Galway walking and 5 min from the Shopping. The neighborhood where it is located is residential and gives pleasure to walk it. I am infinitely grateful for the hospitality they had with me, it was very important since I came alone and it was my first trip to Ireland.

  • This place is amazing. It is clean, cozy and close to the city Centre. Vanessa and Jacquelin are wonderful people - nice, sincere and helpful. I had a great time here. Thank you so much for being my 'home away from home'! I'd highly recommend this place and I'd always come back.

  • The property and location was above all expectations. Hospitality was 1st class and will be difficult to beat . Margeret and Kieron went beyond and above what anyone could wish for and offered us a lift to the Moran’s oyster cottage Restraunt which is definitely worth a visit and picked us up afterwards. The extras and finishing touches were perfect . A wonderful couple and would hope to see them again some time in the future as there company was very enjoyable.

  • You can expect a beautiful house, with beautiful 2 rooms (2 persons each), incredibly lovely hosts, in the kitchen everything is available for breakfast, but you are allowed to lend a hand, which we found to be pleasant. Depending on the traffic you drive to Galway 20 to 25 minutes. A bus stop is 4 minutes away. In 20 minutes direction Burren you are already on the wild rocky and rocky coast. We can only recommend it. All thumbs up from us !!!

  • Margaret and Keiron were perfect hosts. They are very warm and engaging people who greet guests with Irish charm and genuine smiles. The location of the house is just a couple of minutes stroll from Kilcolgan Castle and the house and room itself was very comfortable with everything you need to enjoy your stay. • We had a fantastic 2 nights at Margaret's place. The accomodation was of a high standard with a separate living area to use. Margaret and her husband were very welcoming and gave us some great local tips. Highly recommended

  • Margaret is an extremely friendly and kind host. Her home is very inviting and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of choices for breakfast and even accommodated my gluten allergy. Highly recommend!

  • Margaret’s generosity and hospitality were amazing! She has a beautiful home overlooking the water. The room was spacious and bright, had great shower, and had very comfortable bed. Margaret was very kind and went out of her way to feel at home. Lucia and I would recommend her house to anyone.

  • Marina was a very lovely host, the apartment was very cute and well stocked with tea and brochures for things to do in Galway, along with all the amenities you need. Marina and her partner walked me around the neighborhood and even offered to drive me into town for anything that I would need. The beach is lovely and a beautiful walk from marinas house and the location is great for a quick bus ride into Galway.

  • This is such a beautiful and lovely space. Very warm and inviting. So many thoughtful touches. A wonderful place to stay when visiting Galway.

  • James and Mary are really wonderful hosts. They made me very welcome and provided all kinds of unexpected extra treats: a home baked scone, a piece of apple pie, a hot water bottle and the last day Mary gave me a lift to the station. The flat is sparkling clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The photos do not do justice it. There are two armchairs, one of which is so comfortable I spent hours lounging in it reading one of the novels provided. The bathroom is particularly suitable for elderly guests: handrails and nonslip bath mat. I hope that it will not be my last stay with James and Mary.

  • This was an absolutely lovely stay for our night in Dublin. James greeted us when we arrived and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. The place was sparkling clean and everything was quite cozy. We also really enjoyed having cereal and coffee right there for us in the morning!

    Danielle2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was perfect for us. It wasn't far from Galway centre, it had ample parking, and the room itself was great. James and his wife are very hospitable and if we return to Galway in the future we will definitely stay here again.

    Mitchell2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really great place to stay if you’re visiting Dublin. James and Mary are wonderful hosts who make you feel right at home. The room is well thought out with everything you need. The bed was the most comfortable one we had while traveling through Ireland. There is a bus stop into the city center very nearby, and a path to walk into town if you want as well. I wish we could have stayed longer!

  • We received the warmest welcome at Margaret’s, her and Joe are delightful; so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The house is so cosy and homely and the bed was so comfortable, we had a great nights sleep. The fresh bread and scones baked for breakfast were amazing and such a generous touch. Perfectly situated just 15 minutes drive to Galway City itself. We can’t recommend Margaret’s place enough and hope to stay again when we’re next in the area. A great experience.

  • A bit of trouble finding the place with the GPS. Located not far from the road junction. They directly manifested to welcome us. Margaret is very helpful, her accommodation is very clean and spacious. Breakfast included in the price, do not hesitate to taste his homemade banana bread and his "scones", both of which are delicious. I recommend without hesitation.

  • What a fantastic stay! The house is wonderfully cozy. The family was incredibly kind and helpful to us throughout our stay. Be prepared for busses that will sometimes come late (though they will always show up within 10-15 minutes of the scheduled time). Very convenient location between Galway and Claregalway, I couldn't recommend it enough!

  • Accommodation very well located to visit Galway and its region. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, the indications of Nicola were perfect. I recommend !

    Gildas2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is wonderfully decorated, the bed is a dream and Galway is a 12 minute drive by car. The only small deduction is that the house throughout our stay and at this time of the year was very cool and humid, but you can with the great fireplace remedy. We highly recommend the accommodation.

    Judith2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Super apartment, comfortable, very quiet, Carol ann is really very kind and welcoming, very good stay, we strongly recommend

    Cyril2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • I recommend this host, we were very well received. Impeccable accommodation with some nice little touches. We thought we had a vehicle, but we had to go without. The center of Claregalway is within walking distance (20min) and the bus to Galway passes right in front so we were not stuck but being transported would have been more comfortable.

    Lucas2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home is in a great location for taking day trips to explore the west coast. A few hours to the cliffs and a few to Connemara. Galway was great as well. The home has everything we needed to cook breakfasts and dinners. The beds were good and we felt at home. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

    Lesley2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I spent 3 nights in this very charming, cosy place. It’s clean and spacious enough for 2. It was lovely to meet Carol and her husband on the first night -such kind and helpful people. The hostess was very quick to reply and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay, which we were. Easy check in and out, total privacy, plenty of parking in the property but I believe you can also use buses as seen quite few stops around.

Cosy 2 bedroom apartment located right in the middle of the historic heritage town of Athenry. Located right beside the "North gate" built 800 years ago and with wonderful views of a medieval church, your sure to enjoy and remember your stay☺☺☺
Cosy, centrally located, great views and all the necessary amenities. We will do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible☺
Athenry is a great town for a visit as it has a vast amount of historical structures, from its castle, medieval church, Dominican Abbey, not to mention it has the largest Norman town wall still intact in Ireland which was built in 1211. It also has a number of small bars and restaurants, one of which is a craft beer pub which is situated very near the apartment, it serves a variety of beers and stouts from small breweries around Ireland and a variety of European beers which all taste great. Athenry is very well served by public transport and has many trains and buses travelling daily to the nearby city of Galway and also to Dublin.
  • The apartment is comfortable, very clean, has the necessary to spend pleasant days. The city is very graceful, and the hospitality of Caroline and Paul were great

Retro motor home, enjoy your own space beside our forest. Camper stays on our property. Eat from the garden too! We are in Oranmore, Galway.
Charming Motor Home, set beside woodland. Curl up with a book, play some board games, watch a movie, or just listen to the rain!
Oranmore and Clarinbridge Village are 3 miles away, Lidl, Aldi and Tesco in the village, plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.
  • You can expect a friendly welcome, a good chat and anything extra you need can be provided. (Blankets/firewood etc) The van is cosy and warm, there's a cooker so you can save yourself money not eating out. It's a cute quirky place to stay, and a bargain for the price. We will definitely go back to stay here when we are next in Ireland!

A cosy cottage tucked away in the picturesque countryside of Kinvara, surrounded by stunning views of the Burren and a short distance from the Wild Atlantic Way. Close by is the Town of Gort and access to the M18 motorway.
An old style cottage surrounded by the peaceful countryside. A great location for those that want to explore the area due to the close proximity of Kinvara, Gort and Ardrahan. 18 miles to Galway city and 20 miles to Ennis, Co. Clare
  • It was a great Time in the Farm Cottage. Every night we sat by the fireplace. We loved the little baked cakes whos was a present from the owner. All what WE needed was inside the House. Thank you so much. Can we only recommend

  • A lovely rustic house offering an authentic farm-house experience. Martha was lovely and had freshly baked crumpets waiting for us on our arrival. Her husband was also wonderfully friendly and they were both quick to respond to any questions we had. The kids loved running around the fields. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • A lovely cottage nestled in scenic countryside. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life whilst still being a stone’s throw from things to see, eat and do, then this is the place for you. The cottage itself isn’t one of those chic Airbnbs with all the mod cons, but it has all of the things you’d need for a comfortable stay, including plenty of kitchenware and peat for the fire. We used the cottage as a little writing retreat and we enjoyed our time sitting in front of the fire, listening to Storm Dennis passing through. In terms of provisions, there’s a Lidl 15 mins away in Gort and a well-stocked Spar a little closer in Kinvara. I’d thoroughly recommend Fox’s in Kinvara for its delicious food and Green’s bar for its atmosphere. Burren Nature Sanctuary is also a short drive away and is a great stop for coffee and/or a walk. Martha was a fantastic host and greeted us on arrival with a roaring fire, delicious scones and a fridge full of basic provisions. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

  • We had a lovely stay at Martha‘s Farmhouse! She was very accommodating to our late check-in time and greeted us with freshly baked scones (which were very delicious by the way). The farmhouse is well situated, if you want to experience the Irish countryside but still be able to visit major sites such as Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Galway and all the different sites around the area. The house itself has all the amenities you need and is very comfortable. All in all, I can only recommend you to stay at this farmhouse :)

  • Marvin was very friendly and his house is very well located. I recommend it!

    Soraya2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The room was as advertised but it is in the front of the house and it can be noisy outside so I recommend ear plugs, but other than that it was no hassle and a nice place to crash for the night.

  • This is a great spot for the money. Small room, very clean with access to a shared kitchen and bathroom. The location is also really good. Check in was simple as well with lock box instructions messaged to me the day before. I would recommend to anyone going on a quick trip to Galway.

The cosy wooden cabin sleeps 3 people and is 30 m from the main house away that has 2 bedrooms for 4 people. TOILET AND SHOWER IN MAIN HOUSE. Generous Breakfast included. A haven of relaxation!
The cabin has space for 3 people, there is a double and 1 single bed, solid fuel stove, running water and some cooking facilities. Toilet and shower are in the main house as is TV/internet. The place is very quiet and peaceful. The wooden cabin is located 30 m from the the main house. The main house has 2 bedrooms (peaceful organic farmhouse room 1 and peaceful organig farmhouse room 2) that sleep 4 people. Breakfast is served in the main house and there is great emphasis on nice organic fresh food; a lot of it is produced on the farm or fairly traded.
  • Amazing hospitality and wonderful lodgings. Sparkling clean with small touches to make everything as comfortable as possible! Thank you so much!!!

  • I am so touched by the hospitality and warmth of my stay with Josef and Helga. My time staying on their land and getting to know them was perhaps the highlight of my three weeks in Ireland. I stayed a total of a week with them (with a small intermission to pop up to Connemara). I stayed in both the cabin and the main house. The cabin is exactly what I had hoped for when I found it on Airbnb -- cozy, private, warmed by a wood stove. The cabin's kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, which also makes the cabin a place that one can completely retreat into if that's desired. I enjoyed my stay in the house just as much. I appreciated having the sitting room to journal and read my book. I loved being near to Josef and Helga's comings and goings, tending to the stoves, feeding the cows, preparing meals, enjoying a cup of tea in the other room. Their company, both in conversation with them, and in the distant awareness of them moving through the house, was so very sweet. Josef and Helga are very, very special human beings. I'll let you find out for yourself what I mean. Perhaps my biggest endorsement of Josef's B&B is that after a week I left reluctantly. There is no doubt in my mind that I will return, and I so look forward to that time. And though it hardly bears mentioning considering its overwhelming reputation, Josef's breakfast is a true treat.

  • I had a great and perfect stay at Josefs B&B! Josef and Helga are perfect hosts! They are so pleasent and friendly. The cabin is so cozy, homey, unhurried and peaceful! Josef always made me feel comfortable in his cabin: each time I came back from my trips he had started the fire so that the cabin was warm when I came in. They also put beautiful flowers from their garden on "my" table. The breakfast, he prepared, was perfect! You have the choice between irish breakfast or continental breakfast. Both gave me great tips for my trips as well. The cabin is well located so that you can reach a lot of sights - by car! F.e. it takes just a 30 minutes ride to the sea. We also had great evening or morning conversations and they imvited me for tea and cake. Thank you so much for the wonderful time!! Wish you all the best and hope to see you again!

  • The cabin is well equipped. A place to relax and to relax inside. Such nice and open-hearted hosts are rare! The breakfast was delicious with food partly from our own production.

  • Josefs wood cabin is a beautiful peaceful escape in idyllic surroundings. He also makes a perfect boiled egg 🤗

  • I was looking for a quiet place in the countryside where I could chill out and do some work. Josef’s place was perfect and Josef himself was a total boss. I’ll definitely be back.

  • Josefs place was exactly what we were looking for and more. Off the beaten track, the beautiful log cabin is nestled amongst the trees and heated by a lovely stove fire which really adds to the experience. The compost toilet is probably nicer than many of the toilets I've experienced in hotels. Our host was fantastic; welcoming, informative and a pleasure to get to know. Brekkie was yummy and Josef took time to cater to our individual needs. My colleague and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a stay at the cabin; in fact I would urge you to experience this beautiful home and wonderful host. :)

  • We had to cancel our stay very last-minute unfortunately, Josef was very good about it. We hope that we are able to visit soon!
