    Lucy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique place to stay in a beautiful wild location. I feel rested and recharged after a peaceful two night stay. Even the weather didn’t spoil our trip as the airship is even more cosy in the wind and rain - there’s nothing like an afternoon in front of a wood burning stove with a glass of wine or two, some good music on the radio, good company and a sleeping dog curled up at your feet. Excellent - definitely recommend.

The bothy is located on our organic sustainable croft at the northern end of Eigg with stunning views looking Westwards over the Atlantic Ocean towards the Isle of Rum. • This was a wonderful stay. Sue was wonderful, in every sense of the word. Unfortunately my stay was cut short by he weather but Sue was always there to offer advice. She offered routes to take, weather updates and general advice. I would definitely come back again.

    Adrian2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The best place to visit the beautiful Isle of Eigg! You’ll find yourself at home in this authentic bothy!

    Romain2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful base to explore the quieter side of Eigg - with the best views over to Rum. The bothy is super cozy, a great bolt hole when the wind gets up and for the long winter nights. We wish we could have stayed for weeks. Thank you!

    Jack2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were very excited about Sue’s place and it did not disappoint. It’s a comfortable, warm and cozy place to stay with the compost toilet really close by. The views are stunning and you are close to beautiful walks. There’s lots of useful information in the bothy about things to do and Sue and Neil took care of us well- transporting our heavy bags and getting us tickets to the New Years ceilidh! It was easy to cook and nice to have a shower close by. They also kept us right with changed boat times and when the local shops were open. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Clare2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the bothy exceeded all expectations. It took us 5+ hours on the ferry from Mallaig due to an amended timetable, but it was still worth it. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by Charlie the island's taxi driver. The bothy was perfectly situated with excellent views in all directions - providing a wonderful escape from modern life. Walks from the doorstep took us to dramatic clifftops and scenic beaches. Would love to come again, for longer! Thanks to all at Eigg Organics.

    Emma2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is pure beauty. The view of the hills, cliffs and the sea is breathtaking, the animals around make the place so welcoming, not to mention the people there! Everyone is incredibly friendly, Neil picked us up and showed us around, talked to us and gave us tips! The island is definitely worth more than one visit and we would always return to this cosy, extraordinary place! Communication is uncomplicated, accomodation is super clean and tidy, no negative points to add!

    Meret2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for being such a special part of our honeymoon. We felt so close to nature and so cozy in our unique little bothy. We would love to come back!

    Olivia2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome place to stay. Sue and Neil are very friendly and accommodating and helped us have a wonderful trip. The bothy is a fantastic rustic place to stay and helped us get back to basics.

VERY BASIC VERY REMOTE BEAUTIFUL BUT NOT LUXURIOUS bothy in an idyllic situation - exposed stonework and wood. Bring own bedding and cooking stove. Basic pots crockery cutlery etc provided. Shared outdoor toilet, indoor bath heated by solid fuel stove. Coal can be bought for £12 a bucket available if requested well in in advance from Rhoda's shop on Gometra's official website. Suits kayakers, experienced hillwalkers and island baggers. Please see reviews for more feedback.
This is a VERY BASIC NO LUXE bothy - do not expect modernised comfort. Gometra is off-grid - that means no mains electricity. You will need to bring bedding, food, cooking appliances and fuel (coal can be bought £12 a bucket in advance - contact details on Gometra's official website). We do not have a cleaner and ask people to leave as they expect to find it. This is reflected in the low price.
Gometra is the most beautiful island in the world but very remote.
  • A unique and wonderful place full of rustic charm and character.

    Helen2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place on a very special island. Be prepared to be buffeted by the weather but the gorgeous scenery, heather and wild flowers, sheep, horses, deer and eagles make it all worth while! And the turquoise sea when the sun came out was stunning! The bothy is cosy and has all you need. The beds are very comfortable and the bath a real treat after a day’s exploring! Thank you Rhoda for your warm welcome and tips in walks. An experience not to be missed by those who love nature, walking and islands!

    Nina2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for somewhere away from it all. It took us under three hours to walk from Ulvaferry to JaneAnnes Bothy. It is not a hard walk as it is along a track and is well signposted. We were happily surprised that the Bothy is only a mile from the bridge onto Gometra. It shares s loo with the shop/gallery and has a stunning view. The shop had all sorts of goodies both edible and arty to buy, uht milk, biscuits, chocolate, a bit of fruit and vegetables etc. But I think it is good to take your own food generally as you can't guarantee what will be back in stock. The Bothy was clean and tidy and comfortable. The first night we did not light the fire early enough and so the water was not warm enough for a hot bath..it needs a good 3 hours to be piping hot. We were so glad we ordered coal and found that the bucket lasted three nights easily. We used head torches and not candles but you can buy candles in the shop if you need them. Our gas cooker was small but quick and adequate. We ate well but simply. Both days we were there the weather was fine in the morning and not so good in the afternoon. We walked extensively around the island climbing to the trig point behind Gometra house and also to our favourite Tor Mor opposite the bothy. We saw deer but sadly no otters or seals. The beds were comfy and we slept well. We loved being away from 4g and phone signal (but did find we had both at the tops of the islands hills), and living very simply. We met the other island inhabitants on our various walks. Both Andy and Roc gave us great advice about what to do etc. The walk out was fine and we had a lovely lunch at the Boat Cafe on Ulva before catching the ferry. We would highly recommend this as a lovely holiday destination especially if you want to feel you've been away for ages.

  • Magic of this remote dwelling is special!

    Kati2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • we loved it very much, it is very exceptional! we did not meet Roc unfortunately, but Rhoda is amazing! Thank you both for everything

    Notburga2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place that I will be returning to again and again. It’s not for everyone but the pay off you get from a long and sometimes arduous walk from Ulva ferry is well worth it. The addition of duvets and sleeping bags really helped do next time I won’t have the bulk of carrying mine. This place is everything I need to get away from The rat race and ground myself. We are planning on kayaking next time. Looking forward to a time I can share the experience with my three boys. Cheers Roc and Andy !!

    Ben2019-08-13T00:00:00Z

  • Tons of historic charm, lots of space. Great touches - stocked kitchen and bath for any needs. Amazing sea views. Big bedrooms. Quick washer. Right downtown / awesome location. Yes the stairs are a beast. Yes parking is a bit tricky, but solvable - there are a few spaces right out front and lots nearby. I would be worried at high season however. Nice place highly recommend.

  • Awesome stay. We loved the yurt, it was so cosy. Staying warm next to the fire.

    Yael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is cosy and homely, brilliantly located for Tobermory and exploring the Isle of Mull!

    Jessie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • What incredible peace! The yurt was beautiful, and cosy warm, even on a snowy night in February. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast, and we had a super weekend. Thank you! Also thanks for the tip of a great route to drive to explore the island!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The yert was fantastic!!! It has such good character and is very cleann in a fantastic location. It was a quite noisy in the night but we were staying during Storm Dennis. Hosts therefore let us stay in the cottage for our second night which was also incredible! Brilliant hosts and a brilliant experience, would highly recommend

    Sam2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great find and thoughtful host couldn’t recommend more

    Rowan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great just above Tobermory and below a castle. The yurt is super cute, just as pictured, located on a dairy farm. You have a legit shower and bathroom not too far away. The 2 heaters in the yurt aren't drawing enough power, so it will get cold at night. The firewood was damp so we couldn't get a fire roaring. There was a storm outside during our stay, which sounded really cool, and the yurt held up great. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly, and you will likely get to see baby coos

    Chip2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location! Extremely cozy and fun place to stay, even in the winter. It's a quick drive from Tobermory and everyone at the farm was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it!

    Mark2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great glamping experience, the yurt had almost everything we needed. We went in January and with 2 heaters and a fire going we had no issues with the cold! Great location, only a 5 minute drive into Tobermory. The cheese farm/shop was great too, would love to see the cafe open in the summer.

View from one of the bedrooms was the harbour itself with Mull in the distance. If we could give more than 5 stars we absolutely would. Definitely recommend for anyone staying in Oban!

  • A refuge, not 100 meters from the beach. Wonderful accommodation, from the outside classic Scottish cottage inside very modern and tastefully decorated. Also perfect under functional aspects. Very obliging and friendly hostess. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, you will find it here.

  • Wonderful accommodation with sea view (from bed too). The house was clean and tidy, well equipped with every kind of modern home appliances. Port Beag cottage is away from the hustle but you’ll find not so far a shop, a cafe, a restaurant and a fuel station.

The Cabin is a small self catering 1 bedroom property attached to one side of Achnadrish House in the wilds of North Mull, yet only 15 minutes from the bustling harbour town of Tobermory. It was originally built in the 50s to house the owners collection of mechanical toys which the children from Dervaig were invited over to play with and is full of charm. Open plan sitting room/bedroom, bathroom with over bath shower, full central heating fuelled by our wood chip boiler and a fully equipped fitted kitchen. The interior is warm, cosy and comfortable, ideal for a couple or single person. Sorry no dogs unless they sleep in the car. We do our utmost to ensure your privacy whilst here at Achnadrish, the Cabin has it's own private entrance and parking area. Our ponies stables are close to the Cabin and although screened off you may hear us occasionally talking to our ponies! There is also a stunning view down the glen towards Ben Tallagh now that the forest has been felled and the sunrises from the Cabin are stunningly beautiful. We can put in a camp bed if required. Please note, as we are in a rural location we recommend you come by car. (Although we are on a bus route and the bus passes us 4 times a day so it is possible to get here by public transport.)
The Cabin is perfect for a single person or a couple and is ideally located in Central North Mull, 2 miles from the pretty village of Dervaig and 5 miles from the iconic town of Tobermory. With everything you will need including 24 hour heating and hot water, it is warm and comfortable, the perfect place to base yourself to explore the beautiful island of Mull. Achnadrish is in a very rural area and the Cabin is an ideal getaway from it all location, with the benefit of having the owners next door should you need help. If we are away then we always have a back up person on hand to help. The wild life in this area is stunning with eagles and other birds of prey, red deer, owls, lizards and slow worms regularly sighted. Excellent walking opportunities exist in this area, with a Forestry Commision hide looking out to Loch Tor just 10 minutes walk away. We keep animals here at Achnadrish, horses, pigs, dogs and a very inquisitive cat and you or your children are more than welcome to walk around the area to see the animals.
North Mull is a beautiful area with a wealth of things to do and see. Along the Northern Coast line are 4 stunning white sandy beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters all of which are easily accessible. There are hundreds of miles of Forestry tracks and walks to explore in the area and there is a wonderful track leading out into the wilds of the Loch Frisa glen leading from the entrance to the Cabin. Tobermory has a number of different wild life tour providers both land and sea based which we highly recommend to make the most of the rich wildlife we have on the island. Mull also has a rich food heritage and many producers and fantastic restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. There is a pub 2 miles away in Dervaig which provides wonderful meals.
  • My wife and I both loved our time at Eugenie’s. The space was nicely situated not too far outside Tobermory, but had amazing views of the Mull countryside. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • Lovely cabin - very cosy and clean. Good location with plenty of restaurants nearby (Dervaig and Tobermory) but a very well stocked kitchen for home cooking too. Great walk from the cabin to Glengorm where a nice cafe can be found. The host has provided a great folder of activities and amenities around the island. Overall had a very pleasant stay.

    William2019-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Warm and cosy cabin, perfect for two people. The location is very quiet with amazing scenery looking out onto the moors and mountains.

    Teresa2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying with Eugenie. We were greeted by some very curious chickens and then woke up to an amazing sunrise down the glen. The place itself was spotless and perfectly equipped for a couple. We found getting around from there really easy but would definitely recommend a car to get around the island!

  • We stayed for a week in this beautifully presented property in Kilchoan. The views are outstanding and the location couldn't be better. Within easy reach of Sanna Bay with one of the best beaches we have been to. The property was a perfect size for our family of 4. The 2 bathrooms with one at front door meant we could shower straight after a visit to beach. Hosts are quick to respond and helpful. Would stay again.

  • This will be one of our top favourite stays. Catherine Ann was friendly and helpful, was great chatting with her. The pod was cosy, clean and the view is brilliant too, fridge is a great touch as is the kettle. We Loved it from start to finish and so did our dogs! We'll be back 😊

    Karen2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay here and, again, it was great. The pod is a fantastic space, nice and warm with all you need for a cosy experience including pillows, kettle, tea, coffee and a fridge inside. There is a microwave for cooking with plates and cutlery provided in the utility room of the main house which is very convenient. The constant farm activities and animals wandering around in the adjacent fields is great. The view from the seating area to the front of the pod is spectacular across the hills and the sandy bay in front. Catherine Ann is a great host who will give you all the advice you need and is just nice to chat with. All in all, will definitely be back for a third visit in future and highly recommend a stay.

  • A comfy and well-equipped cabin in a beautiful remote part of western Scotland. Well worth making the journey for the outstanding hospitality and scenery. It was a bonus for us to see five deer crossing the loch in the gloaming - highly recommended!

  • Lovely little pod with beautiful views. A few donkeys as a neighbours, and goats and chickens roaming around just outside. Lovely! Catherine Anne was friendly and helpful, and also respected our privacy. Although no shower, clean and private bathroom and it was really handy to have a fridge in the pod, be able to park my car just by the side and running water. We enjoyed spending a few nights here and exploring the local area. Dog and child friendly

  • Richard and Margaret are charming. Their cottage is very comfortable and perfectly in line with the description, with a magnificent view of the old castle. It is ideally located to discover the island of Mull. Richard greeted us very well and responded to our requests in a very responsive way, while respecting our privacy. He took the time to tell us the many hikes to do on the island. Very pleasant stay without there being anything to say!

A traditional Highland cottage, Braehouse is nestled into the hillside and overlooks a vista of islands to the north. Recently refurbished its double room is ideal for a romantic retreat for two. Its elevated position is great for spotting wildlife. From the garden you’re likely to see deer in the surrounding parks, sometimes appearing with their spotted young early in the summer mornings..
  • Wonderfully remote cottage, well equipped and cosy. Good location for walking and exploring the peninsula :)

  • Absolutely gorgeous house in a likewise location. Extremely remote as depicted by the miles upon miles of driving down single track roads touching loch shores and hugging mountain passes to reach the place. First time visiting this particular part of Scotland and I'm very glad I went with these hosts that provide a very welcoming and friendly stay, Thanks again Ross

  • The accommodation we really liked. A lot of space, clean, tidy, cozy, warm. Also on the equipment is absolutely nothing. The cottage is very lonely and idyllic (about 1km circumference nothing except sheep and cows

    Cornelius2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three days in the cottage, partly as a base for exploring Ardnamurchan and partly as a place to burrow in and relax. We thought it was well-suited for both but especially the latter. The setting is lovely and secluded; there is plenty of space and pretty much everything you need to stay warm, comfortable, etc. We especially appreciated the conservatory for drying and repacking our outdoorsey things after a few days’ trekking. It is less ‘lived in’ feeling than most Airbnb’s we have stayed in, e.g. no cooking oil or shampoo, but the amenities are otherwise top-notch. Highly recommend!

    Jessica2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is exactly as described. Exceptionally clean and everything worked well! It’s in an ideal location to explore the peninsula. Unfortunately for us the weather was against us but we still had a great time exploring.

Bearnus Bothy has been lovingly renovated using our principle of ecological design to repair, repurpose and use what has been washed-up by the sea. It is one of the last old residences outside of the main dwellings around the Manse on Ulva. As such there are no neighbours until you reach the tiny community on Gometra, another three miles down the track. Seasonal magic: Bluebells, Primroses, nesting eagles, long summer days, heather-carpeted hills, rutting red deer, curious seals on the rocks.
Bearnus Bothy sits alone in a bay on the coast of the Isle of Ulva. It is reached by walking 5 miles along the rough track from Ulva Ferry, and it is another mile to reach the Isle of Gometra. The cottage is off-grid and offers the chance for living simply among a rich diversity of wildlife: White-tailed Eagles, Otters, Seals, and Red Deer are but a few examples of local residents. Please be aware that Bearnus Bothy is in a remote location, and the accommodation reflects the challenging nature of living on the island. Therefore, the provisions are basic and require a level of skill and experience of self-sufficiency.
The bothy is located next to the lively Bearnus Burn, running down from the summit of Ulva, with expansive views of Loch Tuath and beyond to the Treshnish Wilderness. The bothy is nestled above Bearnus Bay, only a few minutes’ walk down the wooded hillside. Gometra Gallery and honesty shop is a two mile walk along the track and supplies a range of food and local craft. It is perhaps the remotest shop and gallery you can find in the U.K.

This Tobermory self catering holiday cottage is located centrally in the main town on the beautiful Isle of Mull, one of the largest islands of the Scottish Inner Hebrides. The house is situated behind the famous Mishnish buildings on colourful Main Street, set off from the street which leads to the upper part of the town, on the north side of Tobermory Bay. Back Brae Lodge sits by the rock face which surrounds the natural harbour of Tobermory on all sides. There is an outside decked area with table and chairs for your use. Back Brae Lodge is an open-plan residence furnished to a high standard. The spacious L-shaped upper floor combines the living area, dining area, kitchen and extra sleeping space. We've had many guests in the past who were escaping hectic urban life for a while, but not necessarily for a holiday. Whether writing, researching or working professionally in some other way, Back Brae Lodge makes an excellent office-away-from-home for days or weeks of undistracted concentration, with inclusive landline and fast Internet connectivity. There is Wi-Fi Internet access for your laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Bring your own Ethernet cable to plug into the wireless router if you prefer. There is no limit on usage. Artwork in the house is by Shelagh Boyle, Ronnie Leckie, Bryan Evans, Angus Stewart, Claire Heminsley, Alex Bamford and Norman Wilkinson, with historical maps from the National Library of Scotland.
The house is known locally as “the old chocolate shop”, since it was the original home of Tobermory Chocolate. The building was originally a mason's workshop before it was extended into shop premises for Tobermory Chocolate then Music Scotland. It was converted and renovated as residential self-catering. In the heart of Tobermory, Back Brae Lodge offers easy access to the local Co-Op, arts and craft shops, a bank, museum, post office, four public bars, a range of restaurants, an arts centre... Experience everything the town has to offer, on your doorstep. You can get your groceries and most other essentials in the Co-Op supermarket, 2 minutes' walk away on Main Street. Another useful nearby shop is the legendary Brown's hardware store, well known as an "Aladdin's cave"!
  • Really nice house and a good stay in a good location

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Back Brae Lodge was perfect for our visit - a comfortable space for our time exploring the island. The bed was comfy, living room was light and warm, and the kitchen had everything we needed for our 4 nights. We spend most of our days out walking and having a suitable inside space to dry our gear was just what we wanted after some very wet excursions. It's a 5 second walk from the main street in Tobermory, very convenient for the co-op and evening meals. I would definitely recommend Kenny's place!

    Vicky2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to stay when in Tobermory! The location surely cannot be bettered - literally twenty yards from the Main Street! I only stayed for a couple of nights so didn't utilise the kitchen but it's well stocked with everything you could want. The double bed and sofa beds are comfortable and the place was warm throughout without even having to look at the radiators. An excellent choice for tv viewing with Freesat, Netflix, Amazon and more! If you book to stay here you won't regret it!

  • I would definitely make another trip to Tobermory and have a relaxing time in this wonderful flat. Apart from a full collection of books and films, we found guides for great walks in Mull. Thank you for making our life easy with these suggestions. After long and eye-opening walks, we enjoyed home made food and evenings watching films. I couldn't recommend more to stay at Back Brae Lodge!

  • This is wonderful place to stay and the location is perfect! Kenny is an amazing host in many ways including by providing so much information on his place, Tobermory, Mull and Iona. I recommend checking out his website in advance. The set up of the place worked really for us as a couple for a 5-night stay. Very comfortable and we loved the set up as well as the view of the cliff rocks out the back. We felt like we were living in Tobermory for a few days, which is just what we wanted. We couldn't recommend this place more and look forward to staying again! Just a note that if you have any scent allergies just let Kenny know in advance so he can accommodate. He wants to ensure everyone has a great stay.

    Lara2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The property is in a very central location, its slightly hidden but the instructions to find it were ideal. There is ample parking on the main street that was close to the property so even with 2 children and car seats etc we had no issues. The property was bigger than expected, very clean and well furnished, the sofa beds were high quality and very comfortable. We were supplied with a travel cot too which was a help. There was every type of amenitiy we needed and clear instructions on how to use them. The property is close to the shop and there are lots walks etc nearby. The booking process was simple and the communication was excellent. Absolutely no issues and we hope to return again!

  • Another great stay!! This was our second trip to Back Brae and can’t fault the accommodation at all. Every need is catered for. The lodge is clean, well equipped and you can’t beat the location. Tobermory itself is really peaceful and a great place to relax. We will be staying here again!

Ardnamurchan’s most famous residents are arguably its huge range of wildlife. They’re part of our everyday life and are more easily spotted here on the Peninsula than most other parts of the country – much to the delight of our visitors. With a bit of patience (and perhaps a pair of binoculars or some local expertise) you might make a sighting of golden or sea eagles, buzzards and other raptors. Owls and bats often make an appearance in the long summer evenings too. Red deer are an almost permanent fixture of the landscape, particularly in the morning and evening. During the warmer months the spotted calves accompany their mothers on nocturnal visits to graze in the fields. In the autumn, rutting season, you’re more likely to hear the deer before you see them. Roaring contests and even duels between competing males is common at this time. Fallow and roe deer, foxes, pine martens, badgers and even the elusive wildcat call this area home. And that’s just a few of the land-dwellers. Look to the coast and its surrounding waters and you might find otters, common and grey seals, dolphins, basking sharks and minke whales. Quite the aquarium. These animals, by their very nature, are wild and while we can’t guarantee every visit will include a sighting – our dedication to the conservation and maintenance of the Peninsula’s flora and fauna means that we’re in a great place for giving you the best chance of spotting something.

Branault is every inch the original croft house, and the sense of tradition here is strong. The two stone byres adjacent to the house are still in use, and in spring the newborn lambs in the surrounding fields provide plenty of entertainment. The house has a large enclosed garden where children and pets can play safely, and it’s only a short walk to the beautiful white sands of Kilmory beach.
  • Cosy house in an idyllic setting which was perfect for relaxing come rain or shine! Lack of internet/phone reception was bliss :)

    Victoria2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for two weeks. The house is comfortable and functional. Warm and welcoming to come back to. We brought our own FM radio and didn’t use the tv at all! Spacious beautiful garden. No mobile phone reception but there’s a landline phone in the house which is good in case of emergencies. Amazing view of sunset every night through the bedroom window, overlooking the isle of Muck, I think.

  • Branault House is a fantastic place to stay in the most perfect location! Plenty of space inside and out, our dog enjoyed the garden and the house has everything you need. The beds are comfortable and bed linen is good quality, remember to bring a towel though. Early one morning we saw 6 antlered red deer walk right by the garden fence! The beaches nearby are ace and there are delicious currant bushes in the garden. Would love to come back one day!

  • A cosy remote getaway - we loved the peace and quiet and the wild scenery around us. The house was comfortable and warm and a great place to come back to after a day out in the weather!

  • A fantastically located house in a very peaceful location. We spent a few days here and left feeling totally recharged. The facilities were fine and the house warm. Highly recommended for a wildlife & walking holiday

    Sarah2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Branault in the WiFi-less peace of this incredible landscape. The cottage is very comfortable, warm and well equipped. Kilomory beach is about a 20 min stroll away and the very friendly and well provisioned Kilchoan Store is just a 15 minute drive away. The beautiful beaches at Sanna and the Ardnarmurchan lighthouse are about a 30 minute drive away. We would definitely recommend Branault for a totally relaxing stay away from it all.

    Angela2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot. If you like a Tesco on your doorstep and access to the outside world then this place is not for you. That said however, it is a true gem of a find. No Phone signal, however a short walk towards Kilmory and you can pick up 4G. No wifi. The beach is stunning and is about a mile and a half from the house. The closest place to find a shop is Kilchoan (10 min drive) and it is again a lovely spot. From Kilchoan you can get the ferry to Tobermory. The Ferry stores has petrol, a post office and is a great little shop for supplies. Really friendly owners and staff. Very helpful. The scenery is breathtaking. Accommodation was spotless!! Decor is dated but in a warming way and is more than comfortable. Heating was spot on (we didn't have any logs left for us, however weather was good) If you are above 5ft 6 then you may struggle using the shower due to the sloping ceiling, however bath is fine. Kitchen equipment is more than enough... cooker was a bit tempermental. Loads of board games, books and local info (loved the placemats! Very helpful) gorgeous garden, perfect for evening drinks listening to the wild life. The only thing I would suggest to improve would be milk for the tea, coffee and sugar that was left. After a long journey and using the local roads... It was very much needed. We didn't meet the hosts but that suited us. A great spot to detox, unwind and shut off rom the outside world.

  • This really is a quaint, warm, traditional property set far away from the noise and madness of the modern world. The large double bed was extremely comfortable with lovely fresh bed linen and the size of the main bedroom is large too. It is just so tranquil and peaceful at this property you will feel like your soul has been cleansed after spending a few days here without mobile phone reception or WiFi. To wake up to the song of Chaffinch and Blackbird and the chirps of the sparrows without any other sound is such a rare thing these days. The central heating was very good, we always felt warm and cosy. Be advised that for tall people the shower over the bath is fun due to the sloping ceiling. TV, washing machine and microwave all provided. Already planning a return trip in the autumn :-)

*PLEASE SEE FERRY TIMES BEFORE BOOKING* *VERY basic but beautiful place* Situated on the picturesque Isle of Ulva, Cragaig Bothy is now available for visitors to the island. The bothy has basic accommodation, with no electricity or services. Although the water in the bothy is not suitable for drinking, there is a woodburning stove that can be used to heat water. Cragaig is located on Ulva's south side, and can be reached after a two hour walk from the Ulva Ferry, or by sea via kayak or boat.
To access the island of Ulva, you are required to take a short passenger ferry from Mull. The ferry operates Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm April to October, and also Sundays in June, July and August. *PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO FERRY SATURDAYS* The cost of this ferry is £6 return for adults, and £3 return for children. During the winter months, the ferry operates only at school crossing times (9am and 3:30pm) The bothy has a gas cooker certified by a qualified engineer. You will also be required to take your own sleeping bags/ bedding. There is a good selection of cutlery and dinner plates, and firewood is included in the price. Visitors are asked to respect bothy tradition and leave Cragaig as they find it - including leaving the fire set for the next visitors. All items, including rubbish must be taken on departure.
The island of Ulva is renowned for its stunning scenery and wildlife, and is owned and operated by the community of Ulva and North West Mull. Sea eagles, golden eagles, hen harriers, otters, seals and much, much more all call Ulva home.
  • We had the most wonderful stay at Cragaig bothy. We were lucky to have glorious sunshine for the 2 hour hike, but even in the rain it would have been worth it. Like the description states, there’s no electricity or drinking water, but this only adds to the experience, allowing you to really switch off and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and wildlife. I only wish we’d booked longer.

    Joanna2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Never been anywhere like it in my entire life.... The 4 mile trek to get to the bothy is like a mini adventure, the views and paths are magical the entire way there. The quiet and light at night is like nowhere I've been in the world and the peace of having no internet connection for three days has literally rebooted my brain and heart. Swim in the sea if you get the chance and go walking round the island to find little treasures including caves. And if you're lucky you might see some seals outside your front door in the morning. This isn't a five star villa with lavender sprayed pillows and a seven course taster menu. You have to keep the fire stoked at night and carry everything you eat for your stay. It is however, without question where you go to cleanse your soul.

    John2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Cragaig Bothy was fantastic. Situated in the most idyllic spot, it really is isolated from all civilisation, a great escape to relax and enjoy the beautiful Scottish landscapes. Compared to most other bothies we’ve stayed at, this one really is a luxury with warm water, a shower and even an oven! It is very well kitted out indeed. Would recommend highly for those who love the outdoors and want to experience the untouched west coast of Scotland! Can’t wait to return in the future.

    Robert2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place is just as described. We loved it.

    Richard2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place, the views are spectacular and the digital detox is wonderful. The hike in and out is quite long but the bothy is well equipped. Gas for cooking, wood for the stove, pots, plates, glasses etc are all provided. You really could get away with just your sleeping bag and some food if you were travelling light. There is plenty of room for 7/8 people. There is also hot running water for the sink and shower once the stove has been on, this stays hot overnight and into the next day until the tank is empty. The Boathouse has a great selection of drinks, cakes and lunch including vegan options!

    Klare2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A truly amazing place, the location is stunning. A perfect escape. You are surrounded by nature, we saw otters and sea eagles from the Bothy, so close to a small sheltered bay. The Bothy was very welcoming, having arrived in a summer storm, wood burner with plenty of logs for hot water. Having a cooker, a loo and a shower, makes you stay comfortable. The isolation is superb, no signal, no WiFi and candles to light the evenings. I would suggest taking some candles with you. A trip to the Boathouse is a must for very tasty food - buy a slice of cake to take back to the Bothy with you. You really need to take all your essentials with you - it’s a trek to get there but that’s what keeps it so special. It’s a wonderful adventure.

  • We had a fantastic week at Christine’s house. The house is very spacious with amazing views across the sea to The Small Isles & Sanna Bay. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay, we particularly enjoyed the reclining sofas! The kids played out in the garden & across the road at the beach. We saw seals every morning & deer most nights. There were new lambs born most days which our boys loved. Great rock pools & super clean beach. We walked to Sanna, Bay MacNeil & The Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. We took a day trip to explore Mull & stock up at the co-op. On our last night we had a fantastic curry from Sanna Spice. Fantastic holiday in one of the most stunning locations in the UK. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks Christine for sharing your home.

  • Mo-Dhachaidh in Portuairk is an absolute idyllic place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life. Although remote, the Ferry Village store 4 miles away is well stocked, has petrol/diesel and if a bigger shop is needed then the ferry to Tobermory is a unique way to shop. Communication with Christine was prompt and access to property was so easy. Staying in Christine's house was wonderful. Very spacious, extremely well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a beautiful sitting room with outstanding views. Lovely bed linen, towels, soap etc all provided. The whole area is a wildlife haven, we saw seals, otters, dolphins, stags bellowing as it was getting near the rutting season. The beaches around the Ardnamuchan Peninsula are stunning, white sands and turquoise sea. Portuairk beaches in my opinion are the most scenic in the area. All in all the experience was fantastic, and we love to revisit in the future and would definitely recommend you stay at Mo-Dhachaidh. ❤️

  • Just returned from our week away in Portuairk and it was amazing! The Bungalow is perfect with everything we needed. Tracey does a fab job of keeping the house clean and prepared, and Christine has a lovely family home she has made available in an awesome location! We did a few of the local walks (Lighthouse and Sanna beach) which were comfortable with a 5 year old and a 7 month pregnant wife. The kids had lots of fun in the rock pools on the doorstep: plenty of fish, crabs, prawns, and even seals. The deer visited us a few times (the stag is huge!!!), even though we had our dog with us. Easy access to Mull, the local tours there (Staffa is a good trip) and the local shops (definitely recommend breakfast at Tobermory Skullery). The waters are amazingly clear, so we would definitely recommend (temperature appropriate) snorkelling gear! We’re definitely coming back another year! Keep in mind it does take awhile to get there and the ferry’s aren’t 24/7, so check the ferry times. Thank you so much Christine and Tracey for the lovely home!

  • We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Mo-Dhachaidh. A spacious home which was perfect for our family of four. If you want to experience a rural getaway it is the perfect spot with stunning beaches, scenery and nature walks straight from your front door! The bungalow provided everything we needed for our weeks stay including an extremely well-equipped kitchen, BBQ, Wi-Fi, sky tv, washing machine, travel cot, powerful hairdryer and plenty of books to suit all ages for rainy days. Both Christine and Tracey made sure we had everything we needed and were very welcoming. We loved the walk over the hill to Bay MacNeil and to Ardnamurchan Point which we visited twice during our stay. The lighthouse tour is worth doing and we were lucky enough to see dolphins from the top! The beaches are fantastic with amazing rockpools to occupy children (and adults) for hours! The area is surrounded by nature – the deer visited us most days and we saw eagles on the ridge behind the house. There is a well-stocked shop in Kilchoan which is around four miles away but for a larger shop you can catch the ferry to Tobermory, Isle of Mull which is a pretty town with plenty of shops to browse and eateries. We had perfect weather during our stay so cooked outside most nights, but we did order a curry from Sanna Spice which was delivered to our door and was very tasty! At night you can watch the sunsets from the lounge window which are breath-taking. Portuairk is a very special part of the world and we will definitely be returning.

  • We have had a wonderful week in Portuairk. The house is a spacious, warm, very comfortable and well equipped including binoculars and bird books! There is plenty of enclosed garden space with a picnic bench table and BBQ. The location and views from the house are simply stunning and the drive to Portuairk equally beautiful. For neighbours we had up to 11 red deer close to the house in the field behind the house on most evenings, and the local free range friendly sheep were ever present! There is a well stocked village store 4 miles away in Kilchoan and great coffee shop at the Lighthouse nearby. For shopping we stocked up at a very good Aldi in Alexandria, just north of the Erskine Bridge, and then midweek we went to Tobermory on the ferry as foot passengers, only £5.50 return each for a stunning 1/2 hour passage and there is a really good Co op on the Main Street in Tobermory, plus good coffee shops, local ice cream and tourist shops, really well worth it. We took our car on the ferry to Tobermory on another day to explore Mull and look for white tailed eagles and otters. We were rewarded with stunning scenery and lots of great bird watching, and possibly one golden eagle, but not confirmed. Our host Christine was wonderful, extremely helpful and really quick to respond to any queries we had. If you want a comfortable, relaxing stay, peace and quiet, stunning scenery, great walks from the doorstep and wildlife then look no further. We had a wonderful and relaxing week. Sent from my iPad

Single track roads, the sea, sheep, and wildlife. This house sits right in the middle of Kilchoan and has a history which clearly shows. A charming old house with huge windows and plenty of space. Thoughtfully decorated and equipped with everything you could need. We, a family of 5, stayed 4 nights and loved it. Highly recommended!

  • Lucy is a friendly and knowledgable host who has a beautiful cottage which is homely and unique - a super place to stay for some tranquility :)

  • An incredibly special place in the incredible Isle of Mull. Lucy’s hospitality was second to none, making sure I was well looked after and well fed. I’ll reiterate what others have said: Lucy is full of local information and knowledge, it was lovely to chat with her. One night just wasn’t long enough, could’ve spent hours in the garden. Very very fond of Lip na Cloiche

  • Excellent place to stay on Mull, well worth the drive from Tobermory (or any other spot in Scotland). A wonderful view and spectacular garden with an equally wonderful host! Hope to stay again.

  • Everything is exceptional at Lucy! The isolated place, the view, the garden and the decor are worth the trip alone. A succulent breakfast with a very hospitable and friendly host, who will recommend the most unusual places on the island. very recommended!

Enter through the porch and into the cosy livingroom complete with leather sofa, tv with freesat and woodburning stove. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave and to rear of the livingroom the french doors open out onto the enclosed garden. On the patio you can sit back and relax in the magical setting and absorb the countryside views. The bedroom has a double bed with white, crisp cotton bed linen and also boasts french doors opening out into the garden. The separate shower room is complete with WC and bath towels are provided for your comfort and convenience. The Wee House has very efficient insulation and in addition to the woodburning stove there are easily adjustable electric panel heaters in all rooms.
  • This is an exceptional property both for its location and the quality of accommodation itself. The Wee House is perfectly located for getting away from it all. A burn runs behind the house and you have beautiful Loch Ba and Ben More on your doorstep. As it is in the centre of Mull, everywhere on the island is within easy reach. Nearby Salen has restaurants and a good shop. The house itself furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Wi Fi and freesat TV work well.

The Wing of Achnadrish house, on the Western side of the house, originally housed the servants who looked after the guests in the main house, and although modernised, it retains a historical charm. The 3 bedrooms originally formed the hayloft and have a cottagey feel, whereas the downstairs is a little grander, with high ceilings and larger rooms, with a more shooting lodge feel to it and it now benefits from full central heating fuelled by our wood chip boiler, so you can be warm, and environmentally friendly! The garden is yours to enjoy and tables, chairs, a fire bowl and a BBQ are provided. Dogs welcome but must be kept on a lead when out of the Wing's enclosed garden as we have free range hens. We live in the central part of the house and there is another small self catering property on the Eastern side of the house. The Wing has a private parking area and private entrance. Please note the WIFI is limited to the sitting room and kitchen. We regret that the Wing is not suitable for those with limited mobility as the stairs are steep although there is a sturdy handrail. We should add that there is one toilet in the Wing which is upstairs, separate from the bathroom. There is a free standing shower in the bathroom as well as a lovely big old cast iron bath for a good soak. The hot water and heating are on 24 hours for your comfort. The Wing is suitable for families with children.
The Wing is in an ideal location for exploring the wonderful beaches and attractions of North Mull being only 15 minutes from Tobermory and 20 minutes from the stunning Calgary Bay. Achnadrish is in a very rural area and the Wing is an ideal getaway from it all location, with the benefit of having the owners next door should you need help. If we are away then we always have a back up person on hand to help. The Wing is steeped in history having evolved from being a hay loft to housing the servants for the shooting parties from the Calgary Estate to being a family home, to a self catering property. The wild life in this area is stunning with eagles and other birds of prey, red deer, owls, lizards and slow worms regularly sighted. Excellent walking opportunities exist in this area, with a Forestry Commision hide looking out to Loch Tor just 10 minutes walk away. We keep animals here at Achnadrish, horses, dogs and a very inquisitive cat and you or your children are more than welcome to walk around the area to see the animals.
North Mull is an excellent base for exploring the Isle of Mull, being close to Tobermory in the East and the 4 stunning beaches we have to the West of Achnadrish. There are lots of things to see and do with wildlife spotting, walking and exploring the many coastlines, mountains, hills, and endless forestry tracks being top of the list. There are plenty land and sea based wild life trips and a fantastic Aquarium, shops, playparks and Mull Museum, and restaurants in Tobermory for a rainy day.
  • The Wing is a really wonderful place to stay - peaceful, homely, comfortable, surrounded by incredible scenery and with the best view from a bath that I have ever experienced! Plentiful hot water, very efficient heating, a woodburner, comfy beds, it has everything you'll need for an easy and enjoyable stay. Also very good eco credentials. Eugenie and Tomo are great hosts, friendly and helpful, and Mull is heavenly. As a family of five, with a dog, we had a terrific stay. Thoroughly recommend The Wing.

  • great place.

    Kai2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and spacious accommodation, nestled into the side of one of Mulls beautiful hills. Kitchen is very well equipped, with a large dining table, perfect for a family meal. Hosts were very helpful and welcoming.

    Martin2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great dog friendly venue, perfect for exploring a stunning island.

    Dougie2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely house which is separate from the main part of the building. My 3 sisters and I had a very comfortable stay with beautiful sunshine. We ate in in on a couple of nights and the kitchen was well equipped. The stair is steep but that was not a problem although we are all in our 70. Eugenie was very helpful . The roads on Mull are mostly single track with passing places and so travel times take a lot longer that’s on the mainland. We went for lovely walks and had a very tasty meal and Cafe Fish ( booking required).

    Fiona2019-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, came up for the mull music festival and had an excellent trip with the wing being an ideal retreat from the busy festival. Lovely log fire too.

    Andrew2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to say. Homely and clean. The place itself is a little away from Tobermory, but not far in the car and it is stunning to be near beautiful wilderness. There are friendly chickens and friendly horses and the hosts are very welcoming without being intrusive.

    Emma2019-04-24T00:00:00Z
