Places to stay in Kaihere
This place is absolutely lovely to have a stay away from it all. Handy to Auckland/Hamilto/Tauranga if you want a week end away. Lots of people look at this listing, and only few bookings..Just want to say that we have not had a single person staying here that was disappointed, so maybe you should book. .:) We have also had quite a number of oversees tourists staying at this lovely quiet location, after flying in from overseas, or just before leaving, as it's only 100 k from the airport.
The "cabin" is a stag camper unit, usually seen on the back of a ute(small truck), We decided to put ours next to the creek; it has a very comfortable bed (double) to sleep in, and a great bench seat; the kitchen is just a few steps away and whereever you are, you can hear the running water from the creek, and you are surrounded by native bush. Fantastic for nature lovers and city people wanting a break alike!!!
Our place is unique, because we're reasonably close to everything but still very secluded and a lovely private setting.
  • This is a truely unique kiwi experience - simple done well - would highly recommend both the hosts and this magical little spot

  • This place is great. If you need a quiet getaway to unwind and enjoy nature this is the spot. We loved it, the sound of the stream, native birds and time away from the city. Koos is a good host and we enjoyed being able to walk on the farm. The top of the farm has an amazing view of the Kaimais and the Coromandel.

We have built two new bed and breakfast units so we can share our peaceful part of the world with others. Great stop over on your way North or South . Great base to explore the Coromandel or Waikato area. Each unit has an upstairs bedroom ( mezzanine ) . One unit has 2 king single beds. The other unit has a king bed upstairs. In both units the downstairs has a bed in the common area and a small area for dinning and a bathroom. Each unit is rented out seperately.
We are located on a 20 acre farm which you are able to explore . We are on a hill overlooking the Hauraki Plains and across to the Coromandel Range . Our small farm is surrounded by farmland. We are rural. The BnB rooms are seperate to the main house.
The local area is a dairy and sheep farming area typical of New Zealand. We are rural - very quiet and peaceful which our guests enjoy especially after a long flight. Ngatea is 20 minutes away - there is a pizza place and subway open until 10.00pm. We recommend if you can pick up dinner on the way. We enjoy fish and chips on the wharf at Thames ( 35 minutes away) or the Thai resturant in Thames .
  • Dot and Malcolm are lovely hosts. Such a peaceful place, we loved our one night stay. They were really helpful, gave us advice on our bicycle trip. Highly recommended!

  • Great place, we really enjoyed staying at Dot and Malcolm s place. Amazing location and cozy place to stay. Highly recommended

    Shemiya2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • After arriving in NZ, the first stop on our road trip was Dot & Malcolm's B&B. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The apartment was very comfortable, and it was a perfect place to recover from our jetlag. The most memorable part of our visit was learning about Dot and Malcolm's sheep and other animals as they took us on a tour of their property. The entire apartment was very clean, and we slept well in the beds. Our children loved having their own space in the loft, complete with some toys to keep them entertained. A lovely breakfast was provided, which we really appreciated. We enthusiastically recommend Dot & Malcolm's B&B without hesitation.

    Stacey2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Dot and Malcolms. The place was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They were great hosts and we would happily stay there again.

  • We’ve spent a short night at Dot’s place. They’ve been super nice and flexible, fantastic hosts. Highly recommended.

    David2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dot & Malcolm's place is gorgeous. It's private and relaxing, and sparkling clean. Dot & Malcolm are friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to provide special breakfast food for our daughter who has allergies. Dot & Malcolm took the kids to feed the sheep, which they loved. Highly recommend this peaceful place.

    Natalie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place to stay one night or two, very clean and comfortable.

  • Dot and Malcolm's place was great. Our stay was quiet and cozy. Will definitely stay again. They were nice to wait for us even though we arrived really late than usual. • I had a great time at Joselyn's place. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The neighborhood is very conveniently located and very quiet! Would absolutely recommend to stay there!

    Haochun2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect flat just about 5 minute walk from the town center😬. Room was perfect for either single travelers or couples, clean tidy and Joselyn and her families welcomed me with open arms. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and great lounge area. I also loved playing with Joselyn's cute little son, Nicolas! Thank you Joselyn for sharing your home!☺️☺️☺️

  • Joselyn's house is GREAT. We spent a lovely evening with her and her husband and gorgeous little son. All of them took their time to get to know us. We felt extremely welcome. Furthermore, the room was spacious and very comfortable. If you'd like to enjoy the personal experience of staying at a lovely family, I would advise you to go to this place.

Nothing fancy - just a double room (queen size bed) and use of a shared bathroom (shower over bath) in a small family home. What we love about our house is that you can see the Coromandel Range from the side deck, and it's just a few minutes' walk from the supermarket, Paeroa's famous antique shops, State Highways 2 and 26, and the Hauraki Rail Trail. We love meeting people from all different places, and our little brown hens are waiting to lay a nice egg for your breakfast.

  • Cherie's place is so beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Cherie was welcoming and kind and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed being on the farm near the cows. Would recommend!

    Kelsey2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just Perfect. A lovely replica miner’s cottage in a rural setting within easy access to the Coromandel or Auckland. The cottage is stylishly decorated with a well equipped kitchen. We loved it.

    Anne2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Cherie's, still as nice as we'd expected.

    Siyi2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was great! Location was perfect for our travels on the way back towards Auckland. The property was gorgeous and the space was inviting. We were greeted by the cutest pup when we drove up, I believe his name was Fen. Then we were shown around the property a bit and got to say hello to the cows! Definitely a highlight! Cherie was amazing and super responsive, definitely made the process smooth and enjoyable while also giving lots of privacy. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Michelle2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This accomodation is stunning. No question. From the moment you drive in you realise how special it is. Cherie and her husband have created a stylish, spacious and very tidy accomodation that has everything you need. The views from the windows out to the fields and cows are breathtaking. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was heaven. Easy 5 minute drive into main shops of Thames. We will definitely be booking this again.

Modern cabin with private garden and separate entrance at side of my Railway Cottage (Central PAEROA, New Zealand). Ideal for two with continental breakfast and snacks. Off street parking and cycle storage. Nice interior with kitchenette and bathroom. Quality linen. Wifi. Large flat screen TV. Very clean and comfortable and in the perfect central location for The Hauraki Rail Trail or using as a base to explore The Coromandel and surrounding scenic areas.
This cabin is the perfect get-a-away as it's right in central PAEROA and within walking distance to shops, cafes and all that Paeroa has to offer. Perfect base for cycling The Hauraki Rail Trail. If you are spending a few days here you will have plenty of time to visit Te Aroha (Spa Town), Waihi and Thames (Gold Mining Towns) plus, you are at the gateway to the scenic Coromandel.
Paeroa is the Antique Town of New Zealand with interesting vintage and antiques shops to explore. Check out where the locals eat at The Refinery Cafe and The Courtyard Cafe. The Falls Bistro & Restaurant is a secret I can't keep as the food and setting is amazing! The perfect place for brunch or dinner. The Hauraki Rail Trail is the one of New Zealand's most accessible cycle trails with Paeroa being the perfect base. Close to Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga it's the perfect couple of days or weekend away. The temperate climate on the Coromandel Peninsula and the Hauraki Plains provides a great all-year round riding experience. The trail has some of the best scenery in New Zealand and includes riding through the stunning Karangahake Gorge, one of the "14 wonders of New Zealand”. The trail follows the path of two historic railway lines, running from Paeroa through Waikino to Waihi. Plus there's the Thames, Te Aroha and Kaiaua rides.
  • We had a very homely stay and had everything we needed and so much more! The unit is beautiful and was absolutely spotless. With all the personal touches and the in person commentary on must sees and must do's, it is easy to see why Kerrie has superhost status. We loved our stay!

  • Best Airbnb I've stayed at in New Zealand. It has everything you need and more. The space is also very stylish and clean, there's even a private garden to sit and relax in! Would recommend 100%.

  • Good little space. Safe and secure.

  • Clean and tidy place with self check in, which is great for coming in late at night. It's quite spacious, but there are a few stairs to climb. Bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Cooking amenities as listed. Lots of parking. Close the windows before sunset to keep the bugs out (as it's next to farm land), otherwise really great!

  • This is a special place. It is very quiet and peaceful with a lovely view out across fields to the bay. The bed linen and towels are exceptional. Jan gave us good tips on where to eat too.- a quaint pub not far away and that meant we saw more of the coast and the shore birds.

Paeroa is the place..girls weekend away..bike trail..bike racing..dinning out...walks...you name it ..this 100 year old bungalow with a rural feel is a great place to stay.
This 100 year old bungalow is a gem of a place. 2 large bedrooms with queen size beds plus a sun room with 2 single beds. This cute place is on a very large section with a rural outlook. It is so quiet and pieceful but only one street back from the hub of Paeroa. The 2 single beds in the sun room are really only suitable through the summer months. A bit too chilli out there between like May- Nov, but great in the summer months.
Only 4 houses down this dead end road...nice people but a good hundred yards away
  • Awesome place to stay, close to town and artistic decor

    Kirsty2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet spot in a garden full of flowers. Vivien was a helpful and generous host. We enjoyed listening to the records and our daughter appreciated the blocks and books.

    Liena2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Well well well. Wot a superb offering of the essence of Paeroa. This may be a very old Villa, but it has just the right proportions, and modernisation, and thoughtful easy to deal with Hosts.

  • A wonderful host with a charming house and delightful garden.

    Martine2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage to stay in, well located to be able to walk in to Paeroa, and within easy reach of the different starting points for The Hauraki Rail Trail bike rides. Vivien is a great host and has thought of everything that you could possibly need within the cottage. We loved sitting on the deck in the evening, enjoying the sun and Vivien's beautiful garden in the peace and quiet.

    Debbie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

  • Isolate in style! OK Auckland foodies change your mind about Miranda! If you want to spend the weekend self-contained somewhere lovely but not too far from the metropolis, but really 'need' an amazing cooks' kitchen with all the accoutrements - this place is it! Bring your favourite ingredients knowing you have sharp knives, amazing olive oil, great pots and pans, good wine glasses, lovely linen. This place is clever and interesting, the hosts are experienced, thoughtful and professional - and we had homemade bread!

    Jodie2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat! Really fun premises in a divine location. Peaceful, private & thoughtfully presented. Loved the small details: hygienically vacuum-sealed & homemade products, kitchen equipped with spices & oils, percolator & proper coffee, plush linen, super comfy bed, very clean & tidy,... and nestled into amazing landscaping with the most spectacular view of home, the Coromandel. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be back at some stage. Thank you both for the terrific hosting.

    Sara2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this place for Splore 2020. It is a lovely location, the house is really cool and is finished to a high standard. This place is a great house for a weekend get away - very private nice and a lovely host. Can’t recommend this place enough if your travelling in this area

    David2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a hidden gem! We were a bit skeptical based on the long drive through country roads to get to the space, but it was 110% worthwhile! The views of the Coromandel peninsula in the morning were incredible, with a perfectly situated bench on the hilltop to take a second to admire and drink your morning coffee. Stylish man-cave decor, a trendy and eco-friendly design, top-notch amenities and a quiet intimate feel. Not to mention Lisa and Lance are thoughtful and very communicative hosts. We would definitely make the trek back again to stay in the future! Thanks for a great stay in Miranda xx

    John2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to relax and unwind! Comfy bed. Kitchen very well equipped and essentials provided. The dog loved it too!

    Joan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely the most amazing location for a get away. I could of sat and enjoyed the surrounding views and quite time all day into the night. Was welcomed by Lisa when I arrived just by chance because I was in pretty late. Wonderful hospitality just for a brief moment, I’m sure it carries through. She made efforts to help my schedule beyond my expectations and for that I’m very thankful. So much open air and wildlife to enjoy it made being there on a solo trip feel all so much more wonderful.

Set in the grounds of the historic Refinery building. This rustic cabin is quiet, peaceful and charming. Your own 'cabin the woods' with nature inspired decor. Close to Karangahake Gorge, Waihi beach and only an hour and a half from Auckland.

The rooms and bathroom are very new, warm and comfortable, beautiful linen and bedding. Recommend for a short stay as the kitchenette has limited cooking facilities. Thanks for a great stay!

  • What a lovely space to stay in. Beautiful, comfortable and practical! The gardens gorgeous, the rooms spacious with everything to hand. But more than that, Geoff and Prue are great hosts - interesting and interested people. They’re helpful but not pushy, warm and friendly and generous to a fault. Highly recommend !

    Tony2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Prue and Geoff are lovely hosts. They supplied fresh milk, fruit, condiments, yoghurts and cereal which was a lovely start to our stay. The accommodation is lovely with a private courtyard, 2 bedrooms, a sitting room and a large general space with a kitchen area. There were chairs and beach towels available along with children’s buckets, spades etc. It is situated a mile or so out of town. We explored the Coromandel peninsula extensively and the beaches on the east coast were beautiful. I would recommend the accommodation to anyone wanting a peaceful, comfortable place to stay in Thames.

  • Great place to stay very nice room with comfortable bed with bedside lights both sides ( important for us!) lovely stylish bathroom- never seen a shower like that before! The water just disappears into the floor ! Everything very clean Very welcoming with cups of tea . Only draw back was that we went on a Monday and everything in Thames is closed for supper on a Monday night - except Pizza Hut but we had a nice pizza ! Breakfast was continental help yourself and there were lots of options . Thoroughly recommend - very quiet with cows outside the window.

    Ama2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a wonderful experience staying with Ann & Craig. It easily exceeded our expectations. This was the first time that I had booked through AirBnB so did not know what to expect. Ann and Craig were nice and accommodating, not to mention going out of there way on many occasions to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. One example was that they provided us some advice on what to do around the area, which we followed and we were not disappointed. Having breakfast outside while taking in the farm surroundings was an added feature that I enjoyed during our stay. If you’re thinking about spending some time in the Coromandel, Ann and Craig are the perfect hosts!

    Eddie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Ann and Craig’s farm house was one of our best Airbnb’s to date. Not only do you get your own private bathroom and bedroom, it’s your own part of their house which is quiet, cosy and extremely clean. It’s a little haven in the middle of nowhere and we loved it. The shower was nice and new and the bed was very comfortable after a day hiking up the Pinnacles. We unfortunately had problems with our rental car as soon as we arrived and both of them were on hand to help which they didn’t have to do. They have two friendly cats that love some fuss when you are sitting out on the decking. Ann gave us lots of great tips on what to do in the area and recommendations for the rest of NZ. Thank you both for letting us stay at your wonderful home.

  • Superb place, they have thought of everything you could need. Lovely hosts made me feel right at home.

  • The suite in Kopu is a fantasic space on a great location to explore the Coromandel. But most pleasant is the enormous hospitality of Beverly and Tony. We travel a lot but we have never experienced this good balance in showing interest and leaving privacy. Beside the nice suite and the good bed Beverly provides a good breakfast with yoghurt, fresh fruit, bread, coffee, juice and jams.

  • A great place to stay for us. Great hosts and a nice place to stay. I would defiently recommend staying here and would stay again.

  • Beverly's red door guest suite is charming and cosy, nice and close to Thames Town centre. We stayed there for a weekend to attend a wedding and loved it. Such welcoming and gracious hosts too.

  • This was the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in! We decided to stay in Thames on a recommendation as a great spot to navigate from. Upon arrival we knew immediately that we wished we had booked more than two days. There were so many personal touches that went way beyond what we expected-a lot of thought went into this! The hosts have thought of everything and more! The room is large, bright and extremely clean. Coffee, tea, toast, fresh made yogurt, and fresh fruit from the yard and other lovely touches just to name a few were amazing. Bev and Tony are wonderful hosts-I could have chatted with them all day! Their yard-flowers, fruit trees-beautiful! We loved walking around and just enjoying the outdoors. The location was perfect for us to explore. The downtown has many restaurants and a laundromat if needed. I could go on all day about this Airbnb! Perfect! There was a local cat that we would occasionally see and my son adored this friendly, sweet cat as did I. Thank you Bev and Tony!

Comfortable bed with 5 star hotel linen and towels. Super clean & modern interiors. Air Con and heat pump, large TV and all amenities you would expect from a hotel stay! Plus, no cleaning fees!
Restored to it's former glory Paeroa Railway Cottage is over 100 years yet inside has all the features of an apartment. It's situated in a quiet sleepy street on the banks of the Ohinemuri river offering privacy and a comfortable, convenient space to explore the surrounding areas of Thames, Waihi, Te-Aroha and the Coromendel.
Paeroa Railway Cottage is situated just one street back from the centre of Paeroa . Right on the banks of the Ohinemuri river (Hauraki Rail Trail). You can stumble out of bed and on to your cycle! Paeroa is the perfect place to stay if you are exploring the Coromendel area. Each town you may visit like Te Aroha, Waihi, Thames, Hot Water Beach or even Hobbliton is not far away. Paeroa is full of interesting antique shops and I can personally recommend the Courtyard Cafe or The Refinery for breakfast or lunch. Both cafes will tempt you with their homemade creations!

A space to pitch your tent as you bike the Hauraki Rail Trail. No bath, no toilet, no wash facilities. The Rail Trail is through our paddocks. 5 minutes bike ride, 20 minutes walk to Paeroa town. Rural property with horses, cows, goats etc.
JUST a space to pitch a tent for the night for Hauraki Rail Trail bikers. There is no camp space in town or around Paeroa at all. We have had people stop on their biking and ask to pitch a tent overnight, so hence this listing. Reference in the photos. $20 for first tent and up to two people. Thereafter $10 per person I had to put some type of bed in the listing to process so put airbed. Normally travellers have their own gear, so this listing is for you to provide your own tent gear including sleep mat. If you want an airbed we can get you one for you to blow up, and pack away as you leave.
Rural - farms and lifestyle blocks. Hundreds of meters from neighbours. Dairy farms all around. 5 minutes on bike to Paeroa, 20 minutes walking.

My place is close to town but is still in private rural surroundings with an awesome view of Mt Te Aroha. You have separate private sleeping quarters in an old vintage bus (with fridge). You have access to free wifi and own kitchen and lounge with cooking facilities, pool table, darts, music and more. The toilet and shower are shared with the owner at this stage Currently undergoing renovations to allow guests their own private bathroom. Tent site available with full use of facilities
My place has a very laid back friendly atmosphere. It has a rustic theme with a collection of antiques and old farm machinery that will take you back in time to a bygone era. At the BIG Blue Barn we enjoy BBQ's, bonfires and beers. I encourage live music and jam sessions as I am a keen guitar player with a love of most music (especially spanish style guitar). So if you like it a bit musical, casual and a bit rough, this is the place for you!

  • Christine's place is as you see. Very comfortable living and sleeping. Bedrooms roomy with very comfortable beds. Kitchen well equipped with all the crockery pans etc that you will need. We were a family of 4 ( kids 17 and 19). Plenty of space. Comfortable lounge with TV or simply enjoy the scenery and tranquility from the sofa! Good shower in a stylish bathroom. Laundry with washing and ironing facilities. Very flexible with arrival/departure. Fresh milk, yoghurt and cool drink in the fridge on arrival. Amazing selection of teas and coffee also.

  • We had an overnight stay at the farm, and on such short notice too. We enjoyed our stay and wish it had been longer than one night. We were really impressed with how beautifully the home was presented as well as the amenities provided. Having the cows in the paddock next to the home was such a great experience. Our daughter especially loved it! We drove into Paeroa (about 12 mins drive up the road) to pick up some fish and chips for dinner and sat on the lawn overlooking the paddocks while we ate. I highly recommend this accommodation. The host has great communication, the home is beautifully presented (the fridge is even stocked with fresh milk), the “farm” experience is awesome and it’s location is great. Thank you Christine for hosting our little family.

  • Jeff is a wonderful host! I got on really well with him. His house is on a hill and you have a great view of the landscape from there (attention! Google Maps unfortunately does not show the exact place. Jeff tells you how to drive) There was fresh bread for breakfast. For safety reasons, the kitchen cannot be used (but refrigerator and dishes can be used). I would come back anytime. Thank you so much Jeff !!

  • A wonderful find. Jeff was a delightful host. Very knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area. The bed was comfy and the house was perched on top of a hill, the sunset and stars from there were awesome. Jeff offered us a delicious brekkie, fresh eggs from his hens and great coffee. The house had character, it was built in the 1800s, a very relaxing stay. Highly recommend.

  • Jeff was a wonderful host and welcomed us with a nice cup of tea when we arrived. Jeff's place was in a great location with 360 degree views from the top of the hill. The homemade muesli was excellent and everything was in order. Peggy
