  • We stayed hear for three nights and it was lovely, the host made us feel so welcome and was very friendly. The room was great, cosy and very clean. It was lovely to see all the animals around especially the cat Tango. We had a good time playing tennis and relaxing in the hot tub. Amazing breakfast and fresh every morning. We would happily recommend & stay hear again. Thank you again.

  • Andrew and Becky are lovely hosts with a lovely home. The little touches throughout really make it a stay to remember and the breakfast left in the morning was to die for. We spent the weekend in the hot tub stargazing after long country walks - it was lovely!

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Becky was very helpful before and during our stay. The breakfast is a great touch! Only issue would be the noisy road but got used to it after the first night. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Had a lovely romantic weekend away here couldn’t have found somewhere more peaceful and beautiful thank you! X :)

    Caron2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Wisp was a rustic, private, eclectic hide away. The wonderful hosts are close by but The Wisp is secluded and quiet. The internet connection, is quite slow but it did not bother us. We wanted something a little different for our Anniversary and this was perfect. Thank you to Nicola for all of the little touches.

    Catherine2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely relaxing stay, made even better thanks to Nicola's helpful and bespoke local tips. Great walks in the immediate area.

    Ben2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to stay at! Me & my boyfriend stayed here over the Valentine’s weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The bolthole itself was clean, cosy, romantic and a good environment to just relax in! Nicola left some chocolates and brownies for us which were finished in seconds, very delicious! And thank you to Nicola for being an incredible host! Would love to stay again☺️

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at The Wisp. The barn was warm and cosy and had such lovely interior design. It had everything we needed for cooking and eating and extras such as local information, directions to the pub and tasty homemade brownies! Nicola was a fantastic host, available if we needed her but otherwise left us to enjoy our stay. She even checked in to see if we were okay in the wind of Storm Ciara! The day before the storm was sunny, so we took the opportunity to walk to The Fountain pub. A fun and muddy trek and the pub is lovely and worth a visit! Overall, a wonderful weekend! Thanks, Lois and Craig.

    Lois2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic, peaceful getaway that’s so cosy it feels like home almost immediately. Ideal for a weekend indoors or as a place to rest between long walks. Romantic, calm and independent with a beautiful garden. Everything’s been thought of!

    Stella2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cabin with some really thoughtful touches including homemade stollen when we arrived! Really beautiful space and cosy in winter. Some nice walks locally and we also explored Steyning (10 mins away) and Petworth house (35 mins away).

    Eleanor2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our third stay at The Wisp, this time for Christmas, and as always we had an extremely lovely and relaxing time away from it all. Nicola is always quick to reply to any questions and makes you feel so welcome, even leaving us some little treats and decorations which was such a lovely touch. The location is beautiful and peaceful, and The Wisp is super cosy , we can’t wait to go back.

  • By far the best air bnb that we’ve been to. Absolutely outstanding stay - there were so many thoughtful touches throughout and we had an incredibly relaxing time. Victoria was a great host; she offered helpful suggestions for our stay in terms of local things to do, and she was quick to respond to our messages. We can’t wait to come back

The host Victoria couldn’t be more helpful by going the extra mile to decorate the cabin for Valentines Day.. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here and it represents excellent value for the unique experience you receive. First class in every area

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Megan's place. It was a wonderful hideaway from the stresses of life, situated in the middle of the countryside. The annexe was very cosy and we found ourselves instantly relaxed. Really recommend this little gem.

    Georgia2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • I only stayed for one night as attending a work reunion in a local pub. Communication was great and the sat nav took me straight to the annexe gate, easy to find even in the dark. Megan was amazing, offering to drop me off at the local pub...very kind of her and much appreciated! I was worried it may be cold in the annexe but the heating was very efficient and I had a great nights sleep. Would definitely recommend, clean, comfortable and great value.

  • The Pig Sty is delightful place to stay. Perfect for a couple and a dog. The beds are comfortable and there is extra bedding if needed. There is plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. Adequately equipped kitchen and dining area. The yard around the property is well gated and fenced so your dog is safe. There is designated parking assigned on the driveway. The property was spotlessly clean and well cared for and we were able to keep warm with the two electric radiators in the main room. Good wifi signal too. I would recommend the Pig Sty to other travellers and will stay here again if in the area. Thank you very much Joanne you have put a lot of thought into what people may need whilst staying with you.

  • Superb place to stay - lovely, relaxed and quiet yet not too far from local amenities and places to visit.

    Patsy2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a weekend at Misty and James lovely barn retreat with our dog Jasper. The communication throughout was fantastic and the directions provided made it easy to find. Misty popped by to say hello and check everything was OK but otherwise we were left with complete privacy. The barn is stunning inside with lots of fantastic extra touches. We appreciated the book of local information (we used it to find a great walk to a local pub and our choice of local takeaway one evening) and excellent WiFi! The location is so peaceful with just two houses (one being James and Misty's) in close proximity and lots of wildlife passing by your front door all day (although our dog was not used to this and a little vocal to begin with!). Overall, a lovely stay, thank you James and Misty.

Pub, 50m, which serves basic food (Famous for it's Fish and Chips Fryday). Numerous pubs with excellent food within 5-10 minutes. South Lodge Hotel and Cisswood House Hotel both in village. Brookfield Barn 1 mile. World famous Leonardslee Gardens within walking distance. Easy access to Brighton, National Trust properties and Gardens. A car for access to sights and pubs is recommended but not essential. Local taxis are available for pre booking and details are provided on your booking itinerary. If attending weddings/ functions Cisswood is 500m, and South Lodge is just about 1km which is walkable on main roads with pavements. Brookfield Barn is a little over 1km, I would not recommend walking it as there are no pavements and the road is narrow, uneven and can be busy. All taxis need to be pre booked. Given notice and depending on my availability I try to give a lift to the venue, or a lift to collect your car the next morning for these local venues.

  • Lovely room, special extra touches (variety of teas, coffee machine, toiletries, chocolates and home made cookies). The room is just as described, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome, by both Elizabeth and her lovely dogs. The breakfast was also a great extra - worth paying for.

  • Loved staying at Lizzie's place. A very comfortable bed with feather bedding, a shower with jets all over the place - very much enjoyed that. I could cook my own meal in the microwave and watch my netflix on the TV. It was the little touches I loved, the cake and biscuits and bottled water and after dinner mints that re-appeared each day. Plus the breakfast was fabulous with eggs from her own hens. Thank you Lizzie you made me feel very welcome x

    Debbie2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. Excellent value for money. Ideally suited for our needs. Good space and lovely alpacas in the field behind the house!

  • Very comfortable and peaceful stay. Not far from Nymans Gardens. The shower was excellent. We met Elizabeth and her very friendly dogs.

  • A very comfortable room with everything we could ask for! The home made biscuits were a really thoughtful touch. Elizabeth was also very welcoming of our dog which we greatly appreciated.

"The Hideaway" is situated in Houghton, very close to the point at which the South Downs Way crosses the River Arun. The oak framed garden room offers studio style open plan living space with double bed, well equipped kitchenette & separate bathroom. The doors open onto a garden area to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining or simply just to soak up the sun & offer beautiful panoramic views of the South Downs. Houghton is also a mid-way point on the South Downs Way making it the perfect stop over
Located 300 metres from the South Downs Way, the 17sqm studio sleeps 2 very comfortably on a double bed on the ground floor. There is also a mezzanine bunk area accessed via a ladder (restricted headroom) with 2 single floor mattresses so the space would suit couples, 2 nimble friends or even a family with one or 2 small children (albeit at a squeeze!). Please let us know your sleeping configuration preferences at the time of booking. The kitchenette provides a sink, fridge/freezer box, kettle, toaster, microwave and induction hob. A light breakfast of cereals, bread, butter, jams, tea, coffee and milk is provided but if you have any specific requirements upon arrival we will be more than happy to accommodate your request. The bathroom comprises a WC, sink and shower which is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels, hair dryer and mirror allowing for light travelling (essential for you hikers and cyclists out there!). The studio also offers free Wi-Fi access, freesat TV/DVD player and Alexa-enabled Bluetooth speaker with free access to Spotify digital music service. The area benefits from very good mobile reception. Also within walking distance is Amberley Railway Station, two lovely pubs (The Bridge Inn and the George & Dragon) both serving lunch and dinner and a riverside café that caters for breakfast, teas, lunch, pizzas and more recently self-hire river cruises. The George & Dragon, Houghton offers breathtaking views of the South Downs and is reputedly one of the oldest 3 pubs in Sussex. It has a wealth of charm & character and said to have been a stop-off point for King Charles II following his defeat at the Battle of Worcester. The nearby, picturesque village of Amberley with its pretty thatched cottages has a tea rooms, village stores (useful for lunch supplies) and a further two pubs! During the colder months the South Downs can get rather muddy in places so if you intend to explore the area we would highly recommend bringing suitable footwear. A unique attraction of the area is its International Dark Sky Reserve status making our location the ideal place for a spot of stargazing (on a clear night, of course!). Dark Skies are areas where you can look at the night sky without the light pollution created by street lights etc. so if you are checking in at night the drive and garden lights are on a sensor but the surrounding area will be dark, very dark! For those walking or cycling the South Downs Way we can provide a baggage transfer service up to 20 miles in an Easterly or Westerly direction for a set fee of £20. Please enquire at the time of booking. If you fancy exploring the South Downs on two wheels, never has it been so easy thanks to the introduction of e-bikes! Chalkpit Trails Mobile Cycle Hire offer a free drop off and collection service from The Hideaway supplying e-bikes and regular mountain bikes. Arundel, Chichester and Petworth are all within easy driving distance. Perfectly located for Goodwood events such as the Festival of Speed, Revival and Glorious Goodwood.
A stunning area of West Sussex. Houghton is a hamlet in the South Downs National Park making it perfect for hikers and cyclists keen to complete the breath-taking 100 mile stretch of national trail running from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is on the River Arun, where it has a bridge to a rural part of Amberley, 3 miles (5 km) north of Arundel. The Monarch’s Way long-distance footpath (which follows Charles's supposed route from Worcester to Shoreham-by-Sea) descends from the Downs to the west into the village, before heading south along the river towards Arundel. In May 2016 the South Downs National Park became the world’s newest International Dark Sky Reserve, only the 2nd in England and 12th in the world! Across the South Downs International Dark Sky Reserve, some of the best locations for stargazing are already designated as Dark Skies Discovery Sites, offering sweeping views of the starry skies. One of the darkest locations in the South Downs International Dark Sky Reserve is at Bignor Hill (3.5 miles from The Hideaway) between Arundel and Petworth. This remote hilltop location offers extensive views of the night sky in all directions and delivers exquisite views of the Milky Way on a moonless night in late summer and mid-winter.
  • Great location in the South Downs especially if you are looking to go walking. The space was lovely and as described, perfect for 2 adults. Cosy at night and gorgeous views from the breakfast table in the morning. Would have no hesitation in recommending!

Everything was spotlessly clean and there was great attention to detail but for me the best thing of all was the stunning panoramic view of the south downs. Throughly recommend this place.

PERFECT LOCATION: Modern and recently refurbished flat, just a stones throw from Horsham town centre (2 mins walk) and Horsham station (8 min walk). Perfect for short trips, the apartment is cosy and features all amenities required for a comfortable stay. 2 double bedrooms with storage for belongings. Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with extra towels and linen. Property is incredibly clean and well maintained. Plenty of street parking nearby and visitor permits provided upon request.
THIS APARTMENT IS ALL ABOUT THE LOCATION. Walking distance to town and transport but also very close to the countryside and other wonderful things Horsham has to offer. You have full use of the apartment, it has two double bedrooms with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay. The home is kitted out with all the necessities to make your stay comfortable. Decorated in neutral colours and tastefully, small touches like scented candles are all there to be used if you choose to relax in the evenings. Extra towels are provided along with bed linen for longer stays. Super-fast WiFi available with digital TV and Netflix. There is plenty of street parking and I offer visitor permits for the whole duration of the stay, zone 'E' in Horsham for free. The property is less than 5 minutes from the famous East Street in Horsham which has an array of restaurants and bars and the newly regenerated 'Pires Place' offers a new space with famous restaurants and bars opening regularly. If the countryside or walking is your thing, then at the end of the road you will find a beautiful wooded area to take a stroll. Plenty of other green space nearby with Horsham Park less than 10 minutes walk away. PLEASE NOTE: As the property is so centrally located, there is possibility of outside noise from the morning, especially during summer months with the windows open this will be more prevalent. We do provide disposable earplugs to all guests to counter this. The apartment is not suitable for people who are looking to sleep in or those who find it difficult to climb stairs due to the steep stairway outside required to access the flat.
A stone's throw away is Horsham town centre, a thriving historic market town with an excellent selection of national and independent retailers including a large John Lewis at Home and Waitrose store. There are twice weekly award winning local markets in the Carfax in the centre of Horsham for you to stock up on local produce, or head to East Street, or 'Eat Street' as it is known locally, where there is a wide choice of restaurants ranging from Pizza Express to the Michelin starred Tristan's. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to activities as there is Pavilions leisure centre with it's gym and swimming pool and the property is close to Horsham Park and The Capitol, with cinema and theatre. There are some beautiful walks and cycle rides in the immediate countryside. Further afield, the stunning South Downs and coast are within easy reach. For those needing to commute, Horsham Station is a 8 minute stroll away, with a direct line to Gatwick (15 mins) and London (50 minutes) and there is easy access to the M23 leading to the M25.
  • This place is small but cosy, clean and comfortable. I was really impressed with the instructions on how to access the property. The photos were a nice touch and make access so much easier. The best instructions of all the places I’ve stayed! Really convenient for Horsham and although the town centre is just a short walk the Turkish place downstairs is worth a visit. Really lovely food and very welcoming folk. We were going to walk into the town but it was bitterly cold so decided to stay close. If it hadn’t have been cold we might have missed it. Convenient for the train station and great for a short business trip.

The flat is exactly as described, cost but well appointed with everything we needed for our few days in Horsham. Appreciated the extra touches like cereals and selection of teas! Thanbir was quick to respond and help with any queries we had. Check in was easy via a lock box.

Accommodation has a small double bed, double wardrobe with draws, shared bathroom and kitchen, with off-street parking. The bedroom being at the rear of the house is quiet which means you will hear the birds singing. Warnham is a small picturesque village just outside Horsham which is three miles away. I work from home for some of the week so am generally around to answer questions and give travel tips.
The location would suit someone who prefers a quiet place to stay although there is easy access to night life in London and surrounding towns if that's what you'd like. Warnham has a local shop and butchers, two pubs (both serve food), hairdressers and gym. Horsham town centre is three miles away. Good train links to London, Portsmouth and Chichester, driving wise it is 20 mins from Gatwick, fast access to the M23 and just 25 mins to the M25 and 30 mins to Brighton.
The village has two pubs which are traditional English pubs with open fires and good food. There is plenty of easy access to countryside walks.

Brand new house, contemporary decor, comfortable and relaxed. Cranleigh is a large village with many amenities (sport, arts, restaurants) set in the rural Surrey Hills - ideally located for walking, yet near to shopping in Guildford, Horsham, Dorking. Only a half hour drive to the south coast - Brighton, Hastings, Worthing - and ideal for National Trust visits. As for me - I can either be invisible or helpful, as you wish! I am a good cook (by arrangement) or you may use the kitchen.
I have a garden and seating area, but as yet not much has been planted (still in the design stage)
Cranleigh is reportedly the largest village in England, nestling in the Surrey Hills and has pretty much everything to entertain you. I love it here...

  • We had such an amazing time at the Shepard’s Hut. It was a perfect space for two and had everything we needed. The chose the wettest, windiest weekend but it didn’t matter was we had so much fun staying cosy inside the hut watching films on the iPad. We didn’t have a car but it’s pretty easy to get to without one. We got a train from London and one of Sues taxi friends picked us up to take us to the hut. Thank you so much for an amazing weekend. We will definitely be back.

    Julia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little hut. In closed garden... overlooking 3 sheep in a field! Brilliant use of space in the hut. Everything you need to cook! We used the BBQ in january and was lovely still! Logs for fire. Warms up super quick! Lots of lovely walks nearby the countryside on the doorstep! Charlie's farm shop was a must have and it being under a mile away is perfect! Easy check in and out.... Such a lovely cosy hut! And Sue was a great host!

    Ally2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay. Super cosy shepherds hut even in January - loads of local tips and really easy check in. Thoroughly recommended.

  • This place is absolutely lovely. My partner and I stayed here over New Years to get away from the London crowds and will definitely be back in summer! We used the wood burner a lot as it was a great way to keep warm and makes the hut super cosy. Sue was very helpful and a great host. We loved the Christmas treats left out for us on arrival! Sue was there if and when we needed help and left us to relax the rest of the time. There are lots of lovely pubs in the area serving great food and drink. My partner and I are 32 and 27 with very hectic jobs and lifestyles based in London. I’d highly recommend other city dwellers with lots going on to come and decompress here. Read, cook, relax, go to the local town, take in the countryside. Can’t wait to come back!!

  • This was our second stay at the Reading Rooms and even though the weather didn't quite match our previous trip we still loved our stay. A cosy, clean, and quiet space to hideaway for a weekend or use as a base for some beautiful local walks. An additional note - we don't have a car and can thoroughly recommend Mac's local hire for taxi needs! On both trips they've gone out of their way to help us.

  • The property... The Reading Rooms make for a very pretty countryside getaway. Photos are very accurate - it is a beautiful space - beds are very comfy and there is also a lovely big bath! Check in was self-service and really easy. Nice pubs nearby too. Getting there... We actually travelled by train, getting off at Billingshurst. While I am sure it is easier to drive, rest assured you can still get to and from the property using a local cab company - it took about 15mins and cost just over £10.

Set in the heart of the beautiful South Downs village of Washington, The Coach House is a peaceful & character filled self contained annex.
Set along the South Downs Way, we are the perfect resting place after a long days walk. Originally the stables for the Manor House, it has now been converted into a small but perfectly formed Annex. There are many ways to enjoy your stay with us, whether it be relaxing in the courtyard listening to the bird song or watching television with a cup of tea or why not take a well earned soak in the bath. Not sure what to do for dinner? Why not order a take away. Then when you eyelids become heavy, let our soft bedlinen ease you into a peaceful sleep.
A picturesque village set along the South Downs Way.
  • The host are extremely welcoming and accommodating. It's a fantastic little coach house with your private garden, I only wish we stayed during the summer to be able to walk around the surrounding areas a lot more to explore the wanderfull county side. The welcome information pack was extremely helpful. The pub down the road was so welcoming you felt like it was your own local and even better it is within walking distance. I don't go back to many places I stay but am definitely planning on stay at the coach house again.

  • My second time visiting and once again it didn’t disappoint. Perfect for a base to explore Sussex and the South Downs.

    James2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A most comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Great for walks, local pubs and peace and quiet Liz and David are great hosts. Really friendly and accommodating. Great find.

    Kate2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Liz’s place is really sweet and although small has really thoughtful touches, like a mirror right by the plug socket for doing your hair and she leaves nice bath stuff and bread and jam to help you have an easy overnight. Really recommend for anyone walking South Downs - esp with dog as the small garden makes it safe and easy. Not that you could tell from the cleanliness she allows dogs - it was immaculate.

    Francesca2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful little cottage. Perfect for the two of us and our (large) dog. Spacious bedroom. Good sized bathroom. Ample hot water. Comfortable living area with limited cooking facilities but fine for what we wanted (the pub nearby has pretty good food with HUGE portions and very reasonable prices). The Coach House was spotlessly clean with stylish decor. We will certainly return when next in the area. Thank you Liz.

At the foot of the South Downs and near Arundel and half an hour from the coast. Three fantastic pubs in walking distance from the house. Our home is high up above a protected flood plain and has a large decking area giving incredible views from the sofa or your bed! Open plan kitchen, sofa area and two separate eating areas. Separate snug with a TV where you can close the doors and keep the noise in. Right by the South Downs, five minute drive from Amberley station with direct lines to London and the coast. There's also a great pub just 100m down the road that serves delicious food. Also near Goodwood, Arundel and Amberley Castle. Nearby villages with various restaurants - Chinese delivers to the house!
By an area of outstanding natural beauty, Pulborough RSPB, short walk up onto the South Downs and Amberley Castle. There fantastic pubs in walking distance: The Sportsman is 100m down the road, The Black Horse is a 15min walk into the local village, Amberley, and The Bridge Inn is next to Amberley station, a 40min walk from the house. Amberley is a small village with a lovely tea rooms and shop with loads of delicious fresh local produce. Parham House and Gardens is almost nearby and well worth a visit.
  • Laura is a great host and this house is an absolute gem - the views are spectacular, and the house has everything. You must stay here!

  • Our second stay here and we had a great time. Such a lovely place with fantastic views and a fantastic pub nearby for Sunday lunch after a walk in the Autumn sunshine.

    Claire2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Laura was a great host and kept in touch throughout. Check-in was really easy. The place is stunning and we enjoyed watching the wildlife from the deck - deer, geese, swans, red kites were the highlights - and stargazing on clear nights (there’s next to no light pollution). We were 5 - 4 adults and a child - and we had plenty of space and privacy to enjoy our few days together. The house has all sorts of little touches to make your stay special and feel like a home from home - can’t recommend enough and we’d love to return in the summer!

    Lorraine2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a lovely, modern space with spectacular views over the Arun flood plain. It's a perfect location for walks, country pubs and lots to see and do nearby. Laura was a great host - thank you!

  • Our second stay at Laura’s place. This is a magical place with the most amazing balcony with a view to die for. If you are lucky and get to see the stars from here you will be blown away. We love this place and will be back soon.

  • This is our second stay and it was even nicer than last time. Such a relaxing and cool space . You don't have to go outside inside out with the scenic windows as you feel like your outside but very warm and cosey. When we arrived the heating was on with egg, milk and bread ready for us and the place is immaculately clean. The correspondence is perfect and is all very straight forward. You feel nice and isolated and very private without being that far from stuff. Saw a deer hoping through the woods and a pheasant going for a walk around the cabin. The new hobs are great and we managed to whip us some great meals on them. Fridge and freezer perfect for all the supplies. Fell asleep with the moon out the circular windows. Excellent bliss. We will be back no doubt. Can't recommend it enough.

    Stevross2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing airship, super clean and cosy. Had everything you would want. Definitely needed the wellies for the woods as advised and the slippers for inside so thanks for giving us the heads up :). Loved the log fire, that made it for the evening. X

  • Great space!

    Sameer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a wonderful two night stay in the airship. Nestled in the woods, with its large dome windows either side we really felt at one with nature. The airship was warm and cosy, in the mid of winter during a stormy night. The host was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come back again soon!

    Kelly-Ann2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent a weekend outside London at the Spaceship. Coming from London, it is a great option as within 1h by car you can be out in the nature. The space is great and communication was easy. I'd definitely recommend considering this as a special stay out in the woods!

  • The place is very clean, cozy, close to the high street of Billingshurst and around 30 minutes from the Gatwick airport. The room is well equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, cutlery, bowls, and cups. The bed makes squeezing sounds when turning around so for a light sleeper it may be better to prepare ear plugs. The bathroom is very clean with a bathtub which is what we love. The garden is beautiful and we are welcomed to use it. Peta was very quick in response and happy to provide information needed.

    Fiona2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice space to stay in, light and airy even in some fairly rotten weather a great retreat. We loved being able to walk the South Downs Way right from our doorstep taking advantage of it to walk the 6 or so miles to Amberley and the delights of the Black Horse Pub for lunch. Easy to find with great hosts, knowing that they were there when needed but left to our own devices otherwise. Would definitely recommend this place

    Tracey2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Becky was very sweet and helpful. The barn is lovely, very well furnished, and a great location if you want some peace and quiet and easy access to the south downs, Worthing and Brighton. I'd knock half a star off, only because they live on the same property and I felt a little like I was imposing (that's probably me though, I certainly didn't get that impression from Becky). Overall I'd thoroughly recommend staying if you want a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We have converted the old stable into a guest accommodation and can offer a compact and modern living space right in the heart of Dunsfold. No street lamps, one pub and the village shop just about sum up the ambience. It's a beautiful springboard for country walks and our cosy and separate studio will provide a comfortable and well appointed base.
Old Stable. We think it was originally built in the 18th century and formed part of an old blacksmiths. It's also done a stint as a fire station before it was shortened and replaced by a house. In March 2019 we converted the remaining portion which forms part of our property. Our house is one of 4 cottages built during the First World War. Hence "Victory Cottages". These were built in what was the garden of the house along the front. This house dates back to the 17th century. The Old Stable will have been on the land originally and probably was used for the family nag back in the old days. It now comprises a compact living area served by a fast Wi-Fi connection, a separate shower room and a fully fitted kitchen area with fridge, freezer, all pots and pans, plates, cutlery, 2 induction hobs and a microwave oven. There is shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes for those who have forgotten their own. If requested, we can rig a washing machine in the courtyard for exclusive use by guests. And a tumble drier is also available in an adjacent shed. There is an honesty tin for using the washing machine and tumble drier to cover the cost of electricity.
Dunsfold is a quiet village with historically significant interest. The church is over 800 years old with the oldest pews in the country (apparently!) The shop and pub cater for all local needs. Trains to London or to the south coast may be caught at the closest stations. There is a bus service which covers the local area and which goes into Guildford. The village is a springboard for local walks across the downs or to adjacent villages.
  • Outstanding! On the same level of a very good hotel, if not better. Janet and Anthony are well organised and the place is just perfect from every point of view. Loved my stay, would definitely book again.

  • We had an amazing overnight stay at the old stable! Thanks to clear instructions the location and entry to the property was very easy. Upon arrival the room was extremely welcoming and sparkling clean. Being Valentine’s Day, the cupcakes and chocolate was a lovely gesture. Everything you could have needed was provided, and more! We really appreciated the little touches, as well as the breakfast choices - very thoughtful! We were extremely comfortable and cosy. Janet and Anthony were very friendly and happy to accommodate any queries or requests we had. Thank you very much for a lovely stay and we would definitely come again!

    Emily2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We'd suggest staying at The Old Stable for anyone who wants to spend a weekend in the beautiful Surrey. For our trip, the hosts were extremely accommodating with the check-in (we arrived quite late from our trekking tour) and kindly heated up the place for us. They also gave us directions to nearby places to buy local foods, and let us stay beyond the check-out time. The place itself is a detached cosy house with all the essentials inside plus a kitchenette. Everything was well-kept, modern and clean. It couldn't have been better!

    Giancarlo2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully appointed little house. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved staying here even though it was just one night. The breakfast was great too. Hope to go back again soon. Thanks Janet!

  • Very welcoming couple who were very communicative throughout the whole process. The stable flat is a recently converted one bedroom apartment decorated in a light modern style yet retaining some of the natural brick features of its origins. It is part of a stable yard that is no longer in use (guests with horses are welcome to use the stables by arrangement ). It sits in a property of about 3 acres and guests are welcome to enjoy the picturesque garden and small patch of woodlands that form part of the property. Easy access to Brighton, Hickstead, Gatwick and Nymans gardens
The Stable Flat has it's own entrance off Colwood Lane. It has spacious car parking for two cars and a patio garden. It also has the vacant stabling block and riding school so that the overall impression is of spaciousness. The property is all electric and hence does not need a carbon monoxide detector. The aspect is rural with quiet country lanes, many trees and much bird and other animal life. However it is close to major transport links and it's convenience for most of mid-Sussex.
We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the High Weald landscape trail. There are many local footpaths and opportunities for pleasant walks. Attractive local drinking and dining opportunities are offered by the Bolney Stage which is less than a mile from the property or the Half Moon or Eight Bells which are within 2 miles. Similarly close is the Bolney Estate Vineyard which offers tours and wine tastings in addition to its restaurant and bar. It is close to Nymans, Borde Hill, High Beeches, Leonardslee, Sheffield Park and Wakehurst gardens. It is only 4 miles to Hickstead show ground.
  • Fantastic little cottage in a beautiful location close to Brighton. The accommodation is like a home from home, spotlessly clean and the nice touches such as chocolates were much appreciated. Philip and Zillah were great hosts and we can't wait to return to explore the local area when the weather is better! Thank you from Paul & Caroline from Yorkshire!

Thank you for the treats & blanket for Thor. The Stable Flat is very well equipped with everything you need. Philip & Zillah respond quickly. We loved the book of information provided very informative and detailed. I would 100% recommend to stay at their property.

  • Staying at Philip and Zilla’s is always easy, restful and a calm haven. The flat is lovely and the surroundings peaceful and beautiful. They are easy to communicate with, flexible and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend it especially if you have pets. My dogs love to sit by the window and watch for squirrels and other wildlife. There are lovely walks close by too.

    Mary Jane2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you have high standards then this is the place for you! Well equipped with luxurious towels and bedding. There was washing up liquid, washing powder and dishwasher tablets with plenty of tea towels and dish cloths (no need to bring your own). Situated in a very quiet spot but close to Horsham and Crawley for the shops. We only did one walk on the roads but it was very pleasant and saw some lovely houses. Would highly recommend this place.

  • Philip's place was an excellent accommodation with all the facilities you need to have a relaxed break in an area with beautiful scenery. The information about walks in the neighbourhood were highly appreciated by our dog and us of course.

Welcoming, charming cottage on the South Downs way near Amberley. Professionally cleaned after each guest departure. Just round the corner from Amberley station and the Museum, this cosy cottage boasts a welcoming kitchen and lounge and through to the main bedroom with king size bed and ensuite with shower. Upstairs, with limited head height is a second small double bedroom with adjoining bathroom. The cottage is in a perfect position, mid point on the south downs way.
The cottage is on the South Downs way and a 2 minute walk from Amberley Train station (and don't forget Amberley Museum aka Roger Moore 007 film location). It has the convenience of an excellent pub over the road, where you can get a swift drink and good quality food (in high season you will need to book in advance) or a delightful riverside tea room round the corner. The cottage backs onto the main road through Amberley, and whilst it is double glazed, you can hear the traffic. In the kitchen there is a belfast sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, combination oven and ceramic hob. Please let me know if you want me to leave the travel cot at the time of booking. In the main bedroom there is a king size bed with wardrobes, shelves and an ensuite with toilet, shower and basin. In the other bedroom please note, there is limited head height. There are 2 single beds in there. But let me know if you only want 1 single bed in there and I will remove 1 of them so that there is more space. In this bedroom there is a bath and basin. Please note, the bath is super tiny. Really tiny. Please also note that the house owner (not me) is currently clearing out the house and there is currently a container on the parking lot. However there are still 4 other parking spaces available. The cottage also offers free Wi-Fi access and a TV and dvd player. The local towns and villages of Arundel, Chichester and Petworth are all within easy driving distance. Often, travellers stay with us to attend Goodwood events such as the Festival of Speed, Revival and Glorious Goodwood (Horse Racing).
This cottage has great transport links with Amberley train station a couple of minutes walk away. There is ample parking on the premises.
  • Cosy, stylish space in very good location. Can particularly recommend the Black Horse in Amberley. Good value.

  • Fabulously clean cottage in a lovely country setting. Easiest check-in I've ever had. Cottage was well equipped including a washing machine which was essential after the English weather was on expected form for February. Will return next time I'm on the south Downs

  • We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Jane's cottage, which was actually booked last minute due to a cancellation of another accommodation. The communication was excellent and Jane couldn't have been more helpful in making our booking. The cottage is lovely, situated opposite a very nice pub which is great for dinner and drinks. And the best bit - the location! Right on the South Downs Way with easy access to hours of exploring. Thanks for a great stay :)

    Ross2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house with lots of character in a really convenient location. Great spot for dog walkers. Nice pub and a tea room within seconds of the house where dogs are allowed.

    Zach2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful little cottage in a perfect location for beautiful walks in the South Downs. Everything was clean, comfortable and a pleasure to use. The pub across the road (the Bridge Inn) is great for drinks - we didn’t eat there so not sure about the food. We had the most delicious dinner at the Black Horse inn, which is about 20 mins walk away and well worth the trip! Amberley village is chocolate box pretty and we’d love to come back.

The flat is in a very quite Location, outside the village backing on to woodland. There are lots of peaceful walks accessible right from the property. A very popular benefit of the flat with the guests our village pub the Dragon which is 10 minute walk up the road. It serves good food and even does breakfast. It is a great place to stay if you want a quiet place to get away from it all, it even has open fire and comes equipped with a large basket wood to help you get cosy.
The flat has a living room with an open fire and a large comfy sofa to get cosy in front of it or watch TV. There is a quiet double bedroom with views into the gardens at the back. If you want to cook meals the kitchen has everything you need with fridge, oven and hob as well as a kettle and toaster. The flat has a small but bright shower room too
Colgate is in an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. It is on the edge of st Leonard's forest. This means there are miles and miles of beautiful, peaceful woodland and countryside walks starting right on the the flat. It our is favourite reason we live here. However if you want more city and culture it is very easy to get into either London by train or Brighton by car.
  • Sam is always available for anything you might need and you can contact him any time with a simple message. The apartment is also as described with a very good equipped kitchen, excellent wi-fi connection and all you need for a comfortable stay. Parking is also not a problem. I recommend this place also as it is a good base if you want to visit the surrounding towns and villages like Brighton, Hastings, The Seven sisters Nature Park, and also London with a good train connection from Crawley. It is also a good base if you like trekking with several trekking routes in the region. Thank you Sam.

  • A brilliant little place to stay. Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen and the open fire makes it really special. Everything you need for cosy nights in, but a decent pub a short walk away too. Lots of nice walking nearby. Neither of us had signal in the area, but the flat has great WiFi and a smart TV with access to Netflix and BBC iPlayer. Sam was a brilliant host, quick to respond and very friendly. Would definitely recommend, hope to go back there myself!

Welcome to our beautiful retreat in the heart of Rural Sussex. This lovely self contained and fully equipped annexe is part of an 18th century barn conversion. Tucked away at the end of a private lane in the hamlet of Small Dole with uninterrupted views across the South Downs National Park, it's a perfect base for exploring the area. We're 30 minutes from Gatwick (parking and transport can be arranged) and Brighton, historic Arundel and glorious Goodwood are all within easy driving distance.
A tastefully decorated small, self contained annexe, part of a historic converted barn that was once a working farm. The annexe has a large, well appointed bathroom with a walk in shower and washing machine. The bedroom has a double bed and a pull out single and two double wardrobes. There’s also space for a travel cot. The main living room has a large single/small double sofa bed, which can be made up for you if you will be arriving late. Along with a drop leaf table and chairs, the living space has a kitchenette with everything you need for your break - a microwave, small oven, fridge, hob, kettle, toaster, cafetière and plenty of crockery and cutlery.
  • Lovely little space with a gorgeous view. So peaceful, really enjoyed our stay.

    Rob2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the annexe, Elise was fantastic with her communication and went the extra mile by providing us with essentials we didn’t expect. She even left the kids some marshmallows to warm over the fire!

    Claire2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Elise’s property is a cosy little place in a beautiful, quiet and secluded location. It was a cold February weekend but the annexe was comfortably warm. We stayed there with our two young grandchildren and there was plenty of space. The shower is lovely. The hosts are super friendly and helpful

    Graham2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, simple, clean space. Perfect for an overnight or a few days away. Great views and although we visited in miserable weather, I can imagine an evening outside by the chimnea. Check-in and out is super easy and the directions take you straight to the place. All round top AirBnBer!

    Charles2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing and so are the hosts. Beautiful house and beautiful views! If you do fancy I wander to the local pub after dark, I'd recommend a torch. :+)

  • We stayed here for couple of nights as we had a wedding caterer tasting session at a place nearby. The place is easy to find and in a great location. The accommodation itself is lovely. Has everything you need for a short stay. I must say the shower is to die for! Simply amazing after a long walk on the South Downs! The outdoor area is great for a late night fire with a glass of wine. Would definitely stay here again.

The tub itself was really clean and looked after as well as being piping hot with all the functions. The addition of a sauna made it an incredible package. An oak-beamed Sussex barn, converted into a beautifully warm, bright and clean guest annexe. Set in the Sussex countryside, far away from any traffic in a small rural enclave in the South Downs National Park, close to the village of Henfield, 8 miles from Brighton, 12 from Horsham. Separate entrance and parking from main house. Kingsize bed, sofa bed, large desk and chair, farmhouse kitchen table, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave with grill. Bathroom with showe. Underfloor heating. Wifi. TV.
Private dedicated parking space. Our garden is private but guests are free to use our field to picnic, or sit around an open fire and take in the views, or the night sky. We can provide wood for the fire on request. This is an idyllic spot. Sometimes the field has sheep grazing, with hundreds of lambs in the spring. There is very little traffic but you may hear owls hooting at night if you open the windows. We are surrounded by wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes and local farms with cows and sheep. It is very dark at night round here, there are no street lights so it's perfect for stargazing.
We live in a tranquil enclave within the South Downs National Park. Guests have access to a private field with picnic bench and firepit, with the most stunning views of the South Downs towards Chanctonbury Ring, Devils Dyke and Truleigh Hill. We are adjacent to Woods Mill, a wildlife reserve managed by Sussex Wildlife Trust. You can walk to various pubs in villages close to us but you'll need to use footpaths and bridleways and we recommend wellington/walking boots.
