  • Loved our stay! Great location to explore Hereford and surrounding areas. We took Brigid’s recommendations and went for walks in Aconbury Wood and the Forest of Dean, a short drive away. Loved watching the birds feeding, quiet, has everything you need, very dog friendly. Thank you.

  • Had a lovely stay in the Cartshed, and despite it being the end of December, it was lovely and warm. A great place to get away from the bustle of cities and get some peace and quiet. Very clean and nice decor. Would defo recommend to friends and family.

  • The whole place was cosy and warm, well equipped and enough space for 2 adults and 2 dogs, the underfloor heating was an added bonus, spent Xmas week here and went out on a few day trips as well located. Would love to visit again.

I have a 1 bedroom self contained flat. The flat has a kitchen , bathroom, lounge and conservatory complete with a small patio area. The flat is connected to the main house within a gated property. In the main house I live with my children and a very old friendly Labrador. The is plenty of parking space outside the flat. We also provide free wifi.
The kitchen has a washing machine, fridge, freezer, cooker, oven and cooking utensils. I will provide bedding, towels and basic toiletries.
We are situated in Folly Lane which is within walking distance to the city centre, train station and hospital.
  • It is a great flat perfect for short stays to visit the local area. It is about 20mins walk to Hereford High Street and there are a variety of local restaurants and takeaways. Amanda and Steve are great they are helpful and respond quickly. We had some difficulty with the wifi but ultimately it is a lovely place to stay and we highly recommend it.

  • Nice place and very confortable

    Marc Y Mary2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The property is well situated close to Hereford city with other towns nearby to explore. Ledbury is a nice place to visit. Property is well maintained and spotlessly clean. We only met Steve who is very friendly and helpful. It is reasonably priced and would definitely recommend it.

    Sandra2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful accommodation as described. Amanda met me as I arrived, it was warm, really comfortable and had everything and more than I needed for the night. Will be back again without doubt.

  • Great location and more space than I expected, friendly welcome. Perfect for a one night stay and probably for a longer one.

    Natalie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with lots of space and privacy. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. If traveling with heavy luggage make sure to take a taxi to the house as the area has large hills and their driveway is very steep.

    Sarah2020-02-03T00:00:00Z

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.
Thank you so much to everyone that has stayed and left such lovely reviews. Yes it's a small space but everyone seems to have enjoyed staying. We've certainly enjoyed it ourselves a couple of times (well we had to test it didn't we!) Nowhere else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival. The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside. A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided. Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven? We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) PLEASE NOTE: 95% of people have loved staying here, but it isn't to everyone's tastes. it IS small. it does have a sofa bed rather than a proper bed. The bathroom is down in our house and although it is for your exclusive use, it is a 30 second walk away. This is glamping, not luxury. But if that suits you then you'll have an amazing time.
A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!
  • We spent 2 nights in the hobbit house and it was fantastic! Tin supplier fire wood which was amazing as it was freezing cold!!! Any young couples looking for a quirky weekend away and like having adventures this is the place for you.

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit house really is small, but it's also gorgeous. We were very cosy once the fire was going and had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals on the wood-fired stove which is a wonderful way to cook! We cheated and used our camping stove for coffee in the morning when we weren't patient enough for the fire to get going. The location is superb, with beautiful views and excellent walks right on the doorstep: we didn't quite make it up Waun Fach due to high winds but had a wonderful walk nonetheless culminating in a delicious pint in the Dragon's Back pub. And there are loads of fantastic walks within a short driving distance. Talgarth is just a short drive away for getting in some supplies, and there is a short but beautiful walk with impressive waterfalls right next to the town. The whole area was pretty muddy when we were there so be prepared if it's been raining!

    Lindsay2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun place to stay, one of a kind! We loved spending the night in your Hobbit House, especially our 3 year old who had a blast! She especially loved Bear and helping keep an eye on the fire. It was a great addition to our adventures in Wales, just walking up to it was exciting with our tour guide, Bear the dog! The milk and chocolate was a lovely surprise too, thank you very much for a unique place to rest our heads.

    Darren2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Tin is very informative and quick to respond. Thank you for a great stay

    Mark2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, truly magical. The surrounding areas are fabulous and Bear is a super extra host! The place was super clean, the fire was fab and the brochures were really helpful. Would definitely recommend a local pub called the Farmers Arms for some reasonably priced but amazing food :) 10/10 will stay again!

    Charlotte2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I sent my brother and his wife to the hobbit hole as a present!! They absolutely loved it.

    Rochelle2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this lovely weekend away for my partners Birthday, we really enjoyed our stay it's very cosey in the hobbit house :) we will definitely be going back again soon! There is also so much to do with beautiful wallks and surroundings.

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Booked the hobbit house as a treat to my friend for her birthday as she’s obsessed with the films and going to see the real one. We had a little trouble with the front door when first getting there as a little stiff but once I managed to get hold of tin it was absolutely perfect! Couldn’t have wished for more, the pub across the road is very friendly and has decent food. Lots of great walks to do (just bring good walking boots as we didn’t plan that part well). We didn’t get to meet tin and Rosie but were very helpful when we reached out. Bear was lovely and is just the sweetest! Would definitely recommend!

  • This is our third time staying at Jacqui and Daves. We absolutely love this place!!! The cabin has everything you need with plenty of added touches which make it feel extra homely. We had tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh orange juice as well as toast and jams. There was even a box of salted caramel chocolate match sticks for us to share which was lovely. We always tend to visit in the winter and the cabin is nice and warm with the heater but there are also hot water bottles provided and water in the kettle if needed. Last but not least by far the best part about our stay is their beautiful dog Barney he is so friendly and always greets me for a cuddle om arrival and in the morning. He is adorable. This place is great and we will be back again soon no doubt about that. X

    Gabby2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and people, great advice on where to get food and Barney is lovely!!

  • It is obvious from our stay that jacqui and dave had implemented what ever they could to make their guests stay as best it can be. Nothing was too much trouble . The guest house was perfect for a relaxing and extremely comfortable stay. I will certainly be recommending this guest house and the service jacqui and dave provided at every opportunity. We can't wait to return

    David2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Wow wow wow! What a gorgeous little space. You can smell now clean it is as soon as you walk in. Fresh sheets and the bed was made beautifully. Some lovely chocolate was left out for me as well as a selection of jams, fresh milk and plenty of tea and coffee! Just the small touches such as hot water bottles, a microwave and kettle and a dressing gown for those midnight toilet trips! I was so over the moon with this stay I will definitely be going again! Both Jacqui and her partner were lovely and best of all was the gorgeous Barney, their little spaniel ❤️

Dating back to 1752 this rustic Granary has been sympathetically converted to retain its original features. Perfect for chilling out or walking, set in our family farmland with direct access to Offas Dyke footpath. Dramatic high ceiling oak beamed bedroom with ensuite. Cosy low beamed kitchen/diner with wood burning stove. The sunroom/lounge makes the very most of natural sunlight with rural farm views.
The dramatic high oak beamed ceiling of the bedroom provides a unique space combined with the modern convenience of an ensuite bathroom. The cosy kitchen/diner (originally where corn was ground in 1752), has a range of modern kitchen appliances including coffee machine. The wood burning stove is available for romantic evenings in and the sun room/lounge makes the most of sunny days.
The nearest village is about a three minute drive away or a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields. The local village pub has a great restaurant or bar meals and is open every day.
  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully unique barn conversion. The space was spotlessly clean and has all the necessary amenities. Fresh bread, jams and butter were provided (delicious, thanks!) as well as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The log burner made the space really warm and cosy as it was a chilly night. The hosts were very welcoming and were on hand to help with anything we needed. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Welsh countryside, I highly recommend staying here!

    Matthew2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Granary is a great place in a beautiful location. Caroline was a fantastic host and even lit the log burner for us! The Granary has everything you need for a relaxing stay with stunning views. Would highly recommend 😁

    Craig2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place was great. Just as shown on Airbnb. The fire was a treat and the conservatory great for watching the night sky. Lovely all round - highly recommended.

  • Lovely place, very helpful hosts. Great place to escape every day life

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for our lovely stay, all we wanted was peace, quiet, and beautiful surroundings which we got, the log burner kept us cosy and we had everything that we needed. Would 100% recommend ♥️

    Sally2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great host, great place, great location. What else is there to say!? Will definitely stay again!

    Matthew2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled to The Granary in ‘Storm Dennis’ and so very glad we did. It was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean and filled with character. Caroline came over to welcome us, she is absolutely lovely and made us feel so at home. Fantastic location for walking from the door, across owners land to Offa’s Dyke trail past the very vocal donkey 😀 but we spent hours in the spacious sun room enjoying the antics of the hens, the sheep and the hawks soaring overhead. On a clear night we gazed through the roof at the amazing dark skies....incredible!! This place exceeded all our expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t arrive until around 7pm. The host came out to greet us and explained what was in the house. She had already lit the fire so we were toasty warm straight away which was really thoughtful. There were also roses on the bed as it was Valentines weekend and roses in vases. The pub down the road we were recommended was brilliant. The pictures don’t do the place justice. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone. Perfect for a couples night away. :)

  • The Hay Store is a perfect hide way in stunning location. Stef was a great welcoming host, the place was lovely and cosy, with everything you need including a fully stocked DVD/Book shelf! And some wonderful welcoming touches. And the bed so comfy you will not want to get up! Great pubs around locally and very near to Ross On Wye and Hereford.

    Sarah2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Stef’s place to celebrate my partners birthday and we had such a lovely weekend- when we arrived Stef had left a cake from the local farm shop and candle so we could celebrate, such a lovely personal touch. The accommodation is beautiful with fantastic amenities and the location is excellent- such a short drive away from all the great places to explore in the Wye Valley including Symonds Yat and the Forest of Deane. Thanks so much for a great stay Stef!

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Stef’s place last weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The barn is so cosy, perfectly decorated and spotless. There were so many extra details that make this place so great, including a super comfy bed and a wonderful lemon drizzle cake left by the hosts. Location is great too, tucked away on a farm but only a short drive to Ross on Wye and some truly beautiful walks. All in all, couldn't ask for a nicer spot to spend a relaxed weekend!

    Amir2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Very clean and thoughtful extra touches. We felt very welcome.

  • Lovely, peaceful stay at the Hay Store. Really comfortable bed! Great location for visiting the surrounding area. Would highly recommend The Red Lion and The Lough Pool for food. Stephanie was a great host.

    Maria2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter booked this accommodation for a Birthday present for a weekend. Grove View Barn is situated in a beautiful and quiet location with easy access to surrounding places of interest. The Haystore where we resided was quaint, clean and very homely. This is attached to the main barn with good parking and easy access. Our host Stefanie greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome when she popped in shortly after our arrival. The Haystore is very charismatic and cosy throughout and has all the utilities that you would require for a pleasant stay. The Haystore comprises of a bedroom, walk in shower / ablutions and kitchen, dining and living area. During our stay we visited the Red Lion Pub that is within walking distance or very short drive. The food was excellent and nicely priced, well worth a visit. In the daytime we visited and walked the Sculpture Walk in the Forest of Dean and Goodrich Castle and had a Sunday Roast in the Lion Inn, Trellech. The local Pengethley Garden Centre is also worth a visit. On our return home my wife and I were impressed by the accommodation, friendliness and beautiful surroundings. We intend to return for another weekend. (Chloe's parents)

  • A beautiful quaint cottage with a personable touch. Gina is possibly one of the nicest hosts we’ve ever met and we travel a lot. It’s lovely to see just how much Gina takes pride in the cottage and the guests are very much forefront. We arrived to goodies, vino, chocolate, the best peach jam I’ve ever tasted, crisps (needless to say this didn’t last the night) and some gravy bones for our dogs. The cottage was toasty warm, beautifully presented and very much felt like home from home. The hot tub was a lovely touch, though the blistering winds not so much. The local chip shop was pretty good too. We were meaning to ask what cruise ship you went on?! A slideshow appeared as a TV screensaver, it looked lovely! We’ve done a few ourselves and love it! Thank you for having us <3

  • Trudy & Ian’s Annex was amazing. I had booked it for my partner’s birthday & he absolutely fell in love with it as did I. The whole place was beautiful, everything worked great. It was lovely and warm, the jacuzzi was amazing. I can’t think of one negative thing to say about this place! The little touches like the breakfast bits just made it that little bit extra special! It’s also amazing if you have dogs too as it’s dog friendly which I loved! We will deffo be coming back here if we’re ever in the area.

    Lisa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay and great hospitality. Trudy and Ian are very welcoming and happy to help with anything you ask. Pet friendly with shower facilities and treats on arrival. Comfortable bed to sleep and lovely shower facilities. Very recommend for anyone wishing to have a night away.

  • Trudy, Ian and pets were so friendly, super welcoming upon arrival and all the way through our four day stay. We Brough our cat with us (Milo), he seemed to enjoy himself and it was nice to have the opportunity to bring him along! Trudy and Ian's hosting skills were amazing, especially as it was our first time using Airbnb. 100% recommending the annex and we plan to return later in the year, Trudy and Ian were full of recommendations of where to visit and local pubs with good food!

The stable block is an ideal space for 2 people with double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room. The property is situated in the country but only 2.5 miles from Hereford and only 5 minutes walk from the village gastropub
The Barn (our house) and Stables were originally the farm buildings for Lugwardine Court. These derelict properties were converted in 2011 to residential use. The Stables forms one side of the courtyard with the Barn and the old walled garden forming another 2 sides. The Stables with its underfloor heating and a wood burner provide a lovely fully self contained private place to stay.
  • A return visit for us as we were so impressed with our first visit. Mark is a great host, the accomodation is spotless, comfortable, a great location and very peaceful and quiet. Highly reccomended!

    Paul2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, cosy, with friendly, helpful hosts. What more can I say? Cosy Stables was immaculately clean, an extremely well equipped kitchen for self-catering, with a welcome touch of bread, milk, orange and little pots of jam. Perfect for both long or short stays. Thank you Mark and Nooda, you made us very welcome!

    Liz2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend, Good location and it was easy to get into Hereford and the surrounding area. Mark was there to great us when we arrived and showed us around the place. Due to the flooding we had been worried about being able to travel down but a quick email to Mark and we had alternative routes and local advice. Highly recommend a stay here.

  • This Airbnb stay was outstanding best ever

    Steve2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, lovely warm and cosy stay. It had everything we could ever think of and need - I’d recommend 100 times over!

    Olivia2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • As others have noted the Cosy Stables was spotlessly clean. Being New Years Day the essentials that were provided meant that there was no pressure to go shopping on arrival. The location is really easy for accessing the historic locations such as Hereford, Ludlow and the like, also Wales and even the Forest of Dean.

Coach House built in 1899, now fully renovated to provide fantastic space a 10 min walk from the Cathedral. Up: Amazing master bedroom suite with double whirlpool Japanese bath (the 'hot-tub') & walk-in shower. Down: Wetroom, kitchen, lounge & 2 courtyard gardens.
My husband Gary and I rescued The Coach House at auction in October 2013 and then spent the next 24 months taking it from a derelict 'shed', as we affectionately call it, with no services whatsoever and a large hole in the roof to a fantastic detached 1 bedroom home in the centre of Hereford. With award winning local architects on board (RRA Architects Ltd) and builders (R M Caldicott & Sons Ltd) who were committed to our vision, we have been sympathetic to the original structure whilst adding a very modern extension to expand the living space.
Hereford is steeped in history and the location of The Coach House is a stone's throw (10 minute walk) from the Cathedral and the historic centre. Residential parking can be a challenge in Hereford so the private parking space means you can easily explore the beautiful Herefordshire countryside and its charming villages, without the torture of finding a convenient parking spot upon your return! Hereford's many pubs, restaurants and nightspots are also within a 10 minute walk so no excuse not to sample a beverage or two! The Cider Museum is a mere 5 minute walk away!!! Major supermarkets are also on the doorstep including a 24 hour Asda.
  • Amazing house with everything you could need in it. Great location also and very easy access. Thank you!

  • Great stay as always but wanted to write a review to point out the AMAZING communication from Jane. Hereford and the wider county was largely under water when I visited but Jane was amazing. Calling me with travel updates and making sure I arrived safely and avoided the water!

    Andrew2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

    Irfan2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This little coach house is very stylish and well equipped. We stayed in January and it was very cozy and comfy. It’s about 15 minutes walk to the centre of Hereford where there are lots of lovely independent restaurants and shops as well as some well preserved historic buildings. Quite a bit of free parking on Sunday For anyone who enjoys beef a weekend on Hereford is a great opportunity to eat some great steak or burgers and drink some artisan cider

Staying in the Redwood is just like being high up in a tree house, - its floor height is elevated into the middle of two wonderful mature oak trees. It has the true wooden cabin feel, and it is particularly easy to hide away in for quite some time!
There is a 360 degree view of the Golden Valley around you from the Redwood, with great big windows all round the space. While you sit cosy on the sofa in front of the woodburner, you can see out for miles into the countryside in front of you, whilst being beautifully sheltered inside your ‘cabin on wheels’. The Redwood was handmade on the farm, and the wood milled in the field just next to you! I made the effort to pay a lot attention to detail. When you are lying in your big comfy kingsize bed in the mezzanine bedroom, you will be nearly 15 feet off the ground, with a window out to the tree branches, making you feel like you are suspended in the tree canopy while you sleep. Chanstone is a working farm and provides the backdrop of a genuine rural experience. The Redwood is a real one-off structure, you wont be disappointed. The Redwood sleeps five people. The mezzanine has a king-size bed. There is an delightful little single bedroom underneath the mezzanine and also a double sofa bed by the wood burning stove. All of the beds have memory foam mattresses a French linen bedding. You have hot water on demand, a heated towel rail and a nice big power-shower, hair dryer and toiletries. The kitchen is very well equipped with cooking kit. There is a gas cooker and oven, fridge and small freezer. There are also some cooking basics such as a variety of herbs and spices, stock cubes, olive oil, sauces etc. There is also tea, good coffee and milk provided. Outside you have a lovely elevated deck area with a seating for 6 and a BBQ (please bring charcoal with you). This space works well for someone on their own looking for some quiet time, couples wanting a bit of a wooden cabin-like escape, or families to have a rural holiday with a twist.
  • Beautiful, thoughtful and stylish setting. A perfect getaway XXX

    Marisela2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • All the other reviews say it better than i could simply put, if you want an escape from the pace and stress of modern life, this is the perfect place for you. Every aspect of the redwood is perfect for rest and relaxation and the scenery is beautiful. I would live here if o could, quite happily. Thanks.

    John2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect retreat. Loved every minute.

    Andrew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We booked to stay at the Redwood for a couple of nights to celebrate our two year anniversary and it did not disappoint. Such a pretty cabin with brilliant kitchen facilities and such a comfy bed in the mezzanine! We had a lovely, relaxing time in beautiful surroundings.

  • A very special place. Cosy, relaxing, and comfortable. Lots of great little touches. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back. You can go on great walks right from the doorstep and then sit by the fire all evening. Fully-stocked kitchen, so no need to go out for food. Don't miss it.

    Tatiana2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give 6 stars instead of 5 I would. Gorgeous location surrounded by rolling hills and forests. The red wood is perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle ....we didn't see another person out entire stay. Great base for exploring the area as it's right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons and very close to some beautiful villages. Hay on wye is a must. Super clean accommodation with some really nice touches .

Kingfisher Camp is a romantic hideaway set in the dimple of a hillside of a small farm in the foothills of the Black Mountains. The hut is available for anyone who is content to cuddle up by candlelight and light the woodburning stove to get cosy, or spend a night out by the fire, cooking food and star gazing. The perfect space for anyone looking to self isolate in a special location!!
It's a tin hut, warm and cosy, tucked away from the world with stunning views. Previous guests have described it as the loveliest wendy house ever. It will accomodate a couple - or two good friends. It is all one room, with a sofa bed at one end and the kitchen department at the other. We do ask that guests bring their own sleeping bags or bedding (double sheet/duvet cover and pillow cases) and towels, and firewood. Everything else is provided for cooking etc.
We live on the edge of a fantastic village in the lee of the Black Mountains. There is a wonderful village shop - Hopes of Longtown - which stocks everything you could possibly need and more and caters for all types of dietary preferences, with a large focus on locally sourced food. There is the Crown Inn in Longtown and the Cornewall Arms in Clodock, well worth a visit, and the walking in the surrounding hills is unsurpassed.
  • Amber's hobbit hut in the hills is truly wonderful. With the fire lit, we stayed warm and cosy despite the gales blowing outside. The futon bed was firm and comfy, the kitchen helpfully stocked with tea and other essentials, and the view from every window was breathtaking. We'll definitely be visiting again.

The place was toasty warm even during a storm and we had all the amenities we needed. Despite being off grid we still managed to cook some lovely meals with all the kitchen utensils provided. We didn’t want to leave! Thanks Amber!

Hay on Wye town Hay on Wye is a picturesque border town nestled within the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of outstanding beauty and dark night skies. Known the world over as ‘Town of Books’ with Richard Booth opening the first secondhand book shop back in 1962. The Hay Festival of Literature is held every year during May, attracting famous writers, politicians, poets, musicians and comedians that provide entertainment over 10 days. This May also sees the return of ‘How the Light Gets In Festival’ celebrating philosophy and music. Apart from the festivals Hay offers many attractions throughout the year. The town itself is a maze of narrow winding streets full of independent shops offering quirky goods often locally made or produced for the discerning shopper, Thursday is market day with a variety of traders. With coffee houses and places to eat (many accepting our furry friends), Hay is a place you could loose yourself for hours. The town also has its own 40 seater cinema showing current and classic films. Around Hay on Wye The outdoor activities around Hay are endless and as such we have a number of outdoor/activity shops and centres. Walking is the obvious choice with the ‘Offas Dyke Path’ running from Chepstow to Prestatyn passing through Hay on Wye on the way where it crosses ‘The Wye Valley Walk’ which follows the Wye Valley, the river also offers canoeing and fishing (license can be obtained locally). Road cycling and Mountain biking both popular activities with many routes from Hay or nearby. Other activities offered locally are Pony Trekking, Abseiling, Archery, and Caving. Hay on Wye also has a well stocked and extremely informative Tourist Information Bureau. The Lodge is in the town so there could be noise at times.
  • Beautifully clean and well presented space, full of lovely touches to make your stay comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for Tanya, and everything you could want in Hay is within easy walking distance. Absolutely perfect, we will definitely be looking to book again when we are visiting the area next :)

  • Lovely space, small, but 4 of us close friends had a great, comfortable time. Hot tub is brilliant and cute decor. Thanks!

  • Had such an amazing stay, the cabin was very clean and comfortable, there was an amazing hot tub that is built into the ground which was easy access to get into. Perfect location and great company from the animals from the farm. Will highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend stay. Definitely will be returning.

    Samantha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely beautiful! The building itself is so stunning and the inside matches this too - lovely and modern but with a cosy feel - it looks exactly like the pictures but also somehow better at the same time. The chickens that walk around really make the trip even better, they are such characters, and there are some lovely horses in the field next to the cabin also. We had a great surprise, as the hot tub has been upgraded and has now been built into the decking instead - so so nice and the perfect way to spend the evening. The only downside was that we couldn’t find the remote to turn on the beautiful bulb lights that frame the outside of the cabin, so we didn’t get to see these in person. The hosts were super quick to respond if I needed to ask anything. We absolutely loved our stay, it was idyllic and I am so sad it’s over already. Definitely hope to return one day and would recommend to anyone. Thank you!

  • Me and my boyfriend had an amazing and relaxing time in the cabin. Everything we needed was there, we even received some products for pancake day which was a really lovely touch! The hot tub was a bonus. The place was very clean. The hosts replied to any questions straight away. Both very happy with our stay.

  • Very clean, super friendly hosts. Excellent little break

    Joel2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a great tiny home! Me and two friends visited for the night and loved every moment. Perfect for a getaway with plenty of landscape around! Very helpful hosts, would definitely recommend.

    Kayleigh2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Took my Girlfriend here for a surprise birthday present! The place was better than what I expected, living in a cosy tiny house with a hot tub in a field, on a farm with a modern/rustic feel to it. All the kitchen appliances you could need along with fresh bedding and towels supplied. A TV situated in the front living space along with WiFi if your feeling lost, however the scenery and farm animals outside are more than welcoming along with fresh eggs behind the hut from the free roaming chickens. Will 100% be returning in the future!

    Kieran2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely lovely, way exceeded expectations and was in a lovely rural setting with friendly chickens walking around, fresh eggs and milk provided and horses in the field next to us. The hot tub was a lovely added bonus, the cabin itself was very stylish and kept warm even in such cold conditions, would definitely recommend to anyone and we will be back soon! Thank you so much Will and Mel xx

Down a quiet country lane in the fabulous countryside of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is our 17th century stone farmhouse. The studio is a brand-new refurbished conversion in a stone barn annex. Totally self-contained, it features a double bed (it’s a wall bed which folds away to give you extra room), en-suite shower room, proper central heating, lots of beams, additional sofa bed, and comes with cereal breakfast. Private access to a side kitchen in main house for you.
We have an orchard, hilltop paddock with sheep, copse, bantams, and are situated opposite a stream.
Herefordshire and the Wye Valley are famous for walking with some great routes, both easy and more challenging. Locally, those keen on fishing are also in for a treat, as are kayakers, horse riders, and those who love historical monuments. We're also a great base for exploring Wales and the Cotswolds. And at the end of our lane is the wonderful Cottage of Content, voted rural pub of the year, cementing our reputation as one of the great food areas of the UK.
  • Beautiful place to stay, in a peaceful corner of the world. Thank you very much!

    Benjamin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Peter are lovely hosts, the place is in an amazing location, expect a lot of peace and quiet and a lovely view of the stars at night! The flat was very clean and comfortable to stay in, my partner liked seeing the chickens out of the window in the morning! Lovely walks in the nearby area and much more to see if you drive further out. The main kitchen is separate and you have to walk a little to cook food but we didn't mind. The little kitchen area in the flat had a fridge, kettle and there was some cereal aswell, we were well happy with what we had! Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Nikolas2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely and comfortable stay in a peaceful country getaway surrounded by pastoral landscapes. They even have farm animals and some friendly pets. My little girl was in her element wiling away her mornings feeding and playing with chickens and sheep. It was well-heated, clean, and comfortable, and Peter and Fiona even stocked the kitchen with tea, coffee and other goodies for us! Highly recommend! :)

    Cyril2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Fiona have an absolutely magical little conversion in a beautiful little valley not far from Ross on Wye. There are fantastic walks nearby, a very friendly cat, bantam hens, sheep and two dogs! The place itself is really comfy and cosy. My partner and I had a really lovely escape and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Hosts are also extremely friendly and 10/10 communicative even over the festive period! Thanks guys and hope to see you again!

  • Great experience for someone who wants a real get away from daily routine.

  • If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay away from the crowds then this place is for you. It’s what I would call “proper England” We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Pete & Fiona are really friendly and their property is outstanding. Set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside down a single track road you couldn’t ask for a more idillic setting. There is a great pub just a short walk down the lane who serve very nice food and some local brewed ciders. Not far from the river Wye and lots of walks on your doorstep if that’s your thing. I used this as the last night’s stay of a road trip I was taking my two daughters on. I am already looking to go back with the other half as it would make a nice romantic break. Pete even left a flask of coffee outside in the morning as well as supplying the basics such as milk and cereal for breakfast. If you do decide to book here you won’t be disappointed, the only thing I would advise is that you grab a few supplies before you arrive as the nearest town, Ross on Wye is about a nine mile drive. Oh, and the other thing is download anything you want to watch as Vodafone & Virgin mobile has very poor reception there and the WiFi works but not reliable enough to stream anything without interruption. 10/10 - Thank you very much 👌🏼

    Dave2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona & Peter are really welcoming, nothing is too much trouble! We loved the location & all their fury & feathered friends too!

  • We had a great weekend getaway at Lyndy's place for my boyfriends birthday. This was the ideal place for us to disconnect from a busy lifestyle, enjoy the nature and explore the area. We arrived quite late and Lyndy's son Elliot was there to give us a warm welcome together with Peggy, (if I remember correctly) their family dog. In the morning we had breakfast with the view of the rolling hills on the terrace. I quite liked that the sink and cooker was outside rather then in the room. We went around to explore, see the sheeps and little lambs and enjoy the fresh air. In the evening we used the fireplace outside with the wood provided and enjoyed a romantic dinner. Bed was very comfortable and really good shower. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Liana2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! Lyndy was really welcoming, along with her spaniels Paddy & Peggy. She left us some lovely eggs, fresh milk & biscuits on arrival which was much appreciated. Exceptionally comfy bed in a large, homely atmosphere. We highly recommend a weekend (or more) here.

    Deb2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you want an absolute haven, whatever the weather (and we were there during Storm Dennis!) then this is your place. I have stayed in many places but this was something a bit magical and special. Lyndy is a super lovely host who made us feel very welcome, from the freshly laid eggs, to an offer of a bed in her house if we were unable to get home because of the flooded roads. My batteries are recharged and we will be returning. Love this special place x

    Claire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to unwind and relax. We even managed to cook 2 breakfasts outside and eat dinner by the fire - in February! Great place for dogs, no need to worry about their safety, lots of space for them to enjoy the outdoors and even play with friends. Very welcoming hosts , comfy bed, lovely bath and shower with piping hot water. Really recommend .

    Tracie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really relaxing and beautiful place. Very clean and has everything you need, loved the outside seating area with the stunning view

    Cameron2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place for a peaceful getaway. Will definitely be visiting again.

    Kyle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to relax and unwind. No WiFi and hardly any phone signal which was excellent for a digital detox.

    Ben2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lyndys place is an air b n b gem which I certainly recommend. Beautiful location with great accommodation. The stables were stylish, clean, warm, comfortable bed and fantastic shower! The outdoor cooking area had everything we needed for a short break. Our dog loved running around the fields and in the brook in the garden . Lyndy was a great host and was very welcoming. You can see the love and care she puts into it especially with the extra little touches, such as fresh eggs for breakfast. Would have no doubts about booking to stay again.

  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

    Maged2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

    Cassia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Pat was such a considerate hostess, with cakes, pastries and the loveliest home made jam waiting for us when we arrived. As promised the log basket was full too! Pat introduced herself, made us welcome, and made sure we had everything we needed, then she left us to it! We had all the space and privacy we could want, and were completely comfortable. A previous review about the description being inaccurate concerned us before we arrived, but rest assured the nest is a lovely, welcoming and peaceful place to stay. Thank you Pat xx

  • A stylish haven in the heart of Hereford. Through the Green Swampy Door offered us sanctuary after our home was seriously damaged by the recent flooding. The property is beautifully decorated and uplifts your spirits every time you walk in. Philippa, thank you.

  • This place was a sanctuary during Storm Dennis. Really cosy and beautifully decorated - we felt really comfortable here. It is easy walking distance into town. The amenities for cooking and dining were spot on, and we slept soundly. Philippa is a warm host who responded really quickly to all our enquiries. Definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

  • What a fantastic quirky little place! A real gem. Loads of character and everything you need for a wonderful stay. The house is about a 10 min walk into the town centre and a 20 min taxi to the Chase Distillery. We loved it!

The Old Dairy is a cosy , spacious self contained annex to our beautiful Georgian farmhouse. It is situated on our working farm in stunning, peaceful Herefordshire. It is conveniently situated just off the A49 at the end of our farm drive.
The Old Dairy comprises a small entrance hall with coat hanging space and shoe rack leading into the lounge with 2 seater sofa and arm chair. There is a table and 2 chairs under the window so that you can eat your breakfast and enjoy the view. The Old Dairy now has its own internet connection so enjoys reasonable download speed. There is a smart TV in the lounge so that guests can enjoy catch up TV etc. There is a king size bed in the bedroom which will split into 2 x 3' single beds if required. The bathroom has a walk in shower and the whole property has under floor heating which makes it very cosy! The fully equipped kitchen allows you to be completely self sufficient if you wish to cook for yourselves. The accommodation is on one level and is suitable for those with mobility issues.
The farm is situated in beautiful countryside. Pengethley Park, which is National Trust land, is accessed directly from the farm and is a lovely place to walk. Our sheep and cattle graze there and the ancient church of St. Dubricius nestles at the bottom of the park. The River Wye is a short walk of 3 miles & you can take a pit stop at The Lough Pool Inn should you need refreshments. The Red Lion is a short walk away & provides good pub food. The Yew Tree Inn at Peterstow is another good watering hole with home made food from Friday to Sunday. They also have live music on most Friday nights. The Welsh borders are a treasure trove of castles, gardens & National Trust properties with something for everyone. The beautiful Forest of Dean is a short drive away & I can recommend tea at The Speech House Hotel. The market town of Monmouth is only 10 miles from the farm & has an interesting selection of shops, cafes & restaurants. The Savoy Theatre holds regular showing of films, live music & plays. There is ample on farm parking & safe, secure storage for bikes and canoes if required.
  • We absolutely loved it here. The Old Dairy far exceeded our expectations. A warm welcome from Sue and her husband, personal touches were very much appreciated, the farm was easy to find and in a great location. Would highly recommend it. Our first stay at an Airbnb and the bar has been set extremely high!

    Jo2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is great, an absolutely perfect space for a couple to spend a weekend. Really cosy and intimate, but more than enough space, lovely condition and a great host.

    Owen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We came to the forest of dean for the first time and had an amazing stay at the old dairy. The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed (including great kitchen facilities). Sue was very welcoming and friendly and we felt we could contact her any time during our stay. The location was great and we loved being so close to many of the attractions the forest of dean has to offer. We particularly enjoyed visiting symonds yat rock, may hill and monmouth. There are lots of pubs nearby and it’s easy to get to shops and amenities. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the old dairy. Thanks Sue!!!

  • We would really recommend the Old Dairy. It was very comfortable and has a well kitted out kitchen. The location is great, it was quiet and lovely to be on the farm. Susan is a fantastic host and provided breakfast too. We stayed with our 14 month old and found it suited us really well. There are lots of activities to do in the area as it is so centrally located in the Wye Valley

Situated 3 miles outside of Hereford, this is a double bedroom ensuite with well equipped kitchen, study/sitting room and good sized courtyard for your use. An extension to a coach house, this accommodation is a very private and comfortable annex with ample parking. Please note, if looking for four people, there is another double room in the main house that can be booked (subject to availability).
Discreet from but attached to the main house, you have absolute privacy. The Coach House is at the end of a long wooded driveway - far enough from the main road to be truely tranquil.
There is a village shop and two pubs within walking distance (both offering excellent food). The Coach House is ideally situated for touring the area, close to Ledbury, the Malvern Hills, the Black Mountains and Hay on Wye, and, of course, Wales.
  • Mark’s place was lovely, the driveway up to the house was perfect. Mark was there to welcome us on arrival. He showed us around the place and let us know if there was anything we needed to just let him know. The kitchen was very clean, easy to use and very convenient. Loved the shower and selection of shower gels, shampoos and conditioners. The bed was comfy along with plenty of pillows to use. And the study room was tidy along with a comfortable sofa and a tv to watch Netflix. Thank you for having us, we will be back I’m sure.

We moved to the Brecon Beacons to enjoy the good life. We have a little bit of land and a few animals. We're planting as many trees as we can for heating - over 2,000 so far! we also have a hobbit house! This room has an en-suite shower room and includes exclusive use of a large outdoor wood-fired hot tub!
On the side of a Welsh mountain in the Brecon Beacons but easy to find and with good road access to the local area. We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) This is a ground floor room with en-suite shower room. The room has a double bed and also a pull out camp bed for a third person as needed. There are a couple of steps though so please contact us if you have special requirements. We also have our very own our "hobbit house" which is also available to rent!
Where better to stay than the beautiful Brecon Beacons?
  • The house was as described, a home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away here. The local knowledge booklet in the room was great, we did one of the walks suggested straight from the door of the cottage. The hot tub is amazing. Bear was adorable and very well behaved. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, yet homely stay.

    Eleanor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home, we felt so very welcome at Tin’s place, but also had complete freedom to come and go as we pleased. Perfect place to explore the local area, or relax and enjoy the amazing hot tub! X

    Karin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, warm cosy and excellent for a real escape (we had 0 phone signal) which was refreshing and relaxing. Great space to chill out and access to the hot tub

  • Tin and Rosie’s home is beautiful and so welcoming! If it wasn’t for storm Dennis we would have taken a dip in the hot tub! But we will come back when it’s a bit sunnier!!

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time staying here, family were lovely and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, perfect way to relax.

    Nicole2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! I was looking for a quiet spot to relax and unwind with my wife for her birthday. On arrival there is an info pack and obviously the WiFi code 😎. That is all we needed! We spent time exploring both Crickhowell and Brecon. Unfortunately the weather put an end to any hill walking but that was expected. The listing describes this place superbly. The hot tub was excellent and although the air temperature was cold 🥶 the water was perfect. We didn’t bump into our hosts but we did meet “Bear” their dog. He is just a bundle of energy and so friendly. We recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet spot. A car is needed to get about which was advised in the listing so everything was perfect 👌🏻

    Gareth2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tin was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble. We felt really welcome and comfortable during our stay. Lovely hot tub and very sweet dog and cat which was just the icing on the cake! As it says, the location is by the main road, but as a light sleeper it didn’t bother me at all. Thank you again, Tin!

The Byre is situated mid way between Monmouth and Ross on Wye, in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the Wye Valley and close to the Forest of Dean.It is ideal for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers. It is a great location for walking, cycling, canoeing, visiting historic locations or just chilling. The accommodation has been newly refurbished and is full of character. It is spacious and comfortable and the garden is at your disposal with stunning views over Symonds Yat.
  • We had a brilliant stay at The Byre over New Year! We were looking for a quiet, relaxing break and that is exactly what we got. The cottage was cosy and the thoughtful touches such as the mince tarts and fresh eggs were much appreciated. It is in an excellent location for exploring the local area and the view from the garden is incredible. Nicki was a very welcoming and friendly host. Our dog very much enjoyed his stay too; there are plenty of dog friendly walks nearby. Thank you!

  • We couldn’t recommend the Byre more highly. Not only is it super comfortable, clean and stylish, but Nicki herself adds that extra-special something that money can’t buy. We’ve had a wonderful weekend. The cottage is even more lovely in real life and the location absolutely perfect for walking the Wye Valley and the Forest. Without doubt our all time favorite Airbnb find.

  • The Byre is a really cosy little place, which is well set up to be able to just arrive and relax. The little extras in the shape of scones and flowers were a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed getting out into the local area and had some wonderful walks. There’s still plenty we’d like to explore and plan to come back soon!

The property is a self contained annexe on the side of a stone farm house situated above the town of Hay-on-Wye, looking towards the Black Mountains, with fields that run down to the Offas Dyke pathway. It is an ideal base for walking, enjoying the River Wye or visiting Hay itself. We are very animal friendly and dogs are welcome , but will need to be kept on a lead when in the proximity of the free running poultry and sheep.
The host can attend to your laundry needs. Free range eggs, tea, coffee and milk will be provided.
The property is surrounded by farmland, with the Offas Dyke Pathway at the edge of the fields. The 2 local pubs, the Rhydspence Inn and the Baskerville Arms are both recommended for good food and atmosphere.
  • Lovely walks near to Breacon beacons and Haye on Wye. Lovely to see hens at the door looking in. Country feel lovely for our dog. Annexe was super comfy. 😁

  • The annexe is beautifully situated to view the spectacular countryside! Sarah and her family made us feel very welcome and the dogs especially so! Everything was clean and tidy and the fresh eggs were delicious! Many thanks!!

    Amy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is conveniently located about four miles away from the best bookshops one could want in Hay on Wye; the surrounding countryside is idyllic with great views from the upstairs window and birds at the kitchen window. Lovely horses and geese in the neighbouring field will welcome your stay. The place is spacious, clean and comfortable. Enjoy your visit. You could include a stop at Hereford cathedral, especially in winter as it really worth visiting with its chained library, relics and intriguing interior.

    Angèle2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was very warm and welcoming when we arrived and easy to communicate with via text. The annex was clean and tidy, everything as described. We are hugely grateful for Sarah's hospitality when she let us stay an extra night free of charge because we were unable to get home due to flooding from Storm Dennis. The only thing she couldn't control was the weather but regardless we had a lovely stay. Would recommend.

    Ben2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week at Sarah's place - the annexe was sparkling clean and very cosy. Sarah answered and resolved all questions very quickly. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely open plan with bedroom on mezzanine floor. Living room with log fire, kitchen area and wet room. Close to amenities shops, bars, restaurants - 7 minute walk down the hill. Also 5 minute walk from parkland with river access. Towels not inc.
We have a lovely converted barn available to rent for short and long stays. Adjacent to but detached from The Old School House [this sleeps 8 comfortably and is also available to rent - see separate entry], the cottage was originally the stables and barn for the headmaster and pupils of Lady Hawkins School (founded 1632) , it then later became the music room. We converted it in 2008 into a quiet self-contained open-plan living space, keeping the original beams and features, including the school bell tower. Inside the cottage is light and airy with white stone walls, oak floors, a Shaker-style kitchen area and galleried bedroom. The wood burner is fuel-efficient and keeps the whole place toasty when needed. The porch, where you can leave dirty shoes, wellies etc, opens into the kitchen-living room area. The kitchen has a Belfast sink, wooden worktop, electric hob, microwave, toaster, fridge. The beamed, high ceiling living room area has the wood burner, oak table and seating, sofa, double sofa bed, chair, coffee table, lamps, bookshelf and books. Also on the ground floor is the tiled wet-room with shower, W.C and basin. Painted wooden stairs lead up to the open-plan galleried bedroom with southerly views across the Arrow Valley. Divided by a cross-beam into two sleeping areas, there is one with a low level double bed and the other with two single futons suitable for children but could be used by adults. All bedlinen (100% cotton) is provided. Digital TV & DVD, radio and broadband connection is provided. A folder of information about what to see and do in the local area is also provided. We provide guests with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk. 1 basket of logs is provided for the wood-burner sep-mar otherwise logs are available to purchase at a reasonable price. The price is for up to two people for the property per night, minimum two nights. Weekly rates (from £325) and stays of more than two nights are discounted - please contact us. Note on accessibility: there are two stone and rather uneven steps up to the porch of the cottage. Upstairs to the sleeping area is accessed via a short but fairly steep, curved wooden staircase. Guests have off-road parking for one vehicle in front of the cottage. When the main house is not occupied you are welcome to explore and chill-out in the large garden which has plenty of outdoor seating. Aud, who lives nearby and manages The Cottage for us while we are away, is always welcoming and ready to assist or answer queries but she assumes most guests prefer to be left in peace. So, interaction is minimal unless you want it to be more, in which case don't hesitate to contact her. Kington (population 2,500 or thereabouts) is a genuinely unspoiled and unpretentious historic market town on the English-Welsh border. Our 12 year old son, who currently lives in Nairobi, describes it as, 'fun, friendly and safe'! Until the 1960s it was a major hub for sheep and cattle drovers (the main street and medieval alleyways with their high burgage walls are visible remnants of this former life) and it still serves what is a largely rural farming community and it has retained a weekly livestock market (Thursdays). But nowadays visitors come all year round and Kington provides a welcome and down-to-earth escape from urban and city life... You won't find a trace of a Costa coffee shop here, instead there are local independent cafes and shops (including a deli, organic vegetables, wet-fish, bakers, butchers), and traditional pubs (some brew their own ales), plus an award-winning local museum. There's plenty of good food and drink to be found, much of it locally produced. Surrounded by the naturally beautiful Welsh border countryside, on foot or by car there is much to enjoy locally. We love a walk on Hergest Ridge along the Offa's Dyke Path (the cottage is at the foot of the ridge) across to Gladestry, or a cream tea sitting outside on the Edwardian verandah at Hergest Croft Gardens (6 minutes walk away), or a pint by the fireside at The Harp in Old Radnor. From late May onwards almost every weekend there is a local festival or fete to be found and November and December weekends are usually busy with local Christmas Fairs. Well-known local festivals and events include: the Hereford Art Week (early September), the Rough Ride Cycle Event (August), Hay Literary Festival (end May-June), How the Light Gets In (Globe Hay end May -June), The Royal Welsh Show (Builth July), Sheep Music (Presteigne), Presteigne Music Festival, Titley Jazz Festival, Kington Vintage Show (mid August), Kington Show (a major agricultural event held in early September), Kington Walking Festival (September). Kington is ideally situated for visitors to mid-Wales and the Marches, walkers, canoeists, cyclists. It is in easy reach of Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Leominster, Rhyader, Builth Wells, Brecon, Presteigne, the Black Mountains and Golden Valley. And Aberystwyth and the coast are just 59 miles away and easily do-able in a day. We love it here. Nearest airports : Birmingham International (74 miles), Bristol (92 miles), Cardiff (93 miiles), Manchester (119 miles) and East Midlands (114 miles) - distances vary but for all allow 2.5 - 3 hours. Nearest railway stations: Leominster (15 miles), Hereford (20 miles). From these there are direct trains to Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Fishguard/Holyhead. Local bus services connect Kington to: Hereford, Llandrindod Wells, Presteigne, Lyonshall, Eardisley, Weobley. Local taxi services are available (best to pre-book) and recommended if arriving by train in the evening hours as buses stop running quite early. A car is not essential. Do ask if you need travel advice or local taxi numbers. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided. Plus 1 big basket of logs for the wood-burner per 3 nights stay. More firewood can be purchased and is available on site. Children are very welcome but note the property is open-plan with an upstairs galleried sleeping area. Access to the stairs is open, there is no stair-gate so we would not recommend it for mobile toddlers. A high chair is available on request - please notify us in advance. One well-behaved dog, with own bedding, is welcome at an extra cost of £15. Dog owners are requested to discuss arrangements with us beforehand so as to avoid any misunderstandings. Weekly cleaning and change of bedlinen for extended stays. The price per night is for up to two people, minimum two nights. Weekly rates are available, from £325 - please contact us. The Cottage may be rented separately or together with The Old School House (4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 comfortably - see separate entry). Please contact us for discount rates during low seasons or if booking the Cottage and Old School House together.

Welcome to my home. I live in Llangattock Lingoed, a little hamlet just 5 miles from Abergavenny and 15 miles from Monmouth. Come and stay in my lovely, spacious, private guest room; and fabulous views. It's just a two minute walk to the local 13th century village inn, which serves great food every day. For walkers, the Offa's Dyke path is at the bottom of my garden. Dogs are very welcome here; light breakfast included; cooked breakfast available on request (£8pp)
Your room has lovely views over the garden and beyond to Skirrid Mountain. Sleep in an original Victorian brass bedstead with luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. TV, DVD (with films supplied), towels and bathroom smellies all included... no need to bring your own! There's a separate dressing room with loads of hanging space plus everything you need to make yourself a drink or light breakfast. The 'fridge is perfect for chilling water, wine and beer! The downstairs sitting room, with sofas and an enormous TV, is reserved just for you. If you choose a cooked breakfast, you can have it served in your room or in my kitchen looking out over the fields. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the the room... but please... not on the furniture or bed, or in the bath! Scrummy homemade Welsh cakes on arrival; come and say hello.
Don't think the countryside isn't for you, there's loads to do here! We have great walks from our door, including Offa's Dyke, plus fabulous local churches and castles to visit if they're your thing. For foodies, there are renowned - and Michelin starred - eateries, notably The Walnut Tree Inn (Shaun Hill) and The Hardwick (Stephen Terry). Our local pub is great too, very dog friendly and within easy staggering distance! If you like festivals, we have the Abergavenny Food Festival, the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling and the Hay Literary Festival, to name but a few. We are within easy reach of Cardiff, Bristol and Hereford, plus the Brecon Beacons National Park, which is also an International Dark Sky Reserve. Our starry skies are breathtaking. All the countryside activities... riding, canoeing, fishing and more... are available locally.
