  • Super cute place!! Very clean and comfortable. Shelly is a wonderful host

    Marissa2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Dear Shelly, we had a wonderful stay. Easy and uncomplicated on such a short notice, lovely interior, we felt like home. Thank you so much, highly recommend this place **

  • Enjoyed our stay here, the place is super cute and comfortable. Even tho it is a guest suite in the back of the main house it felt super private and it was very quiet.

    Ines2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Previous reviewers had this place very accurate. It is very homey, cozy, and clean. Additionally, we did not get charged a cleaning fee, so we left the place as clean as we could like we always do. Although we are not seniors, the guest house is very senior friendly with a walk in shower with a seat inside, shower rails, and a raised toilet seat. All linens and cleaning supplies were provided which made our stay easy and seamless. There is a trail right outside the home and the host provided us with additional information on nearby hikes like lake Isabella Peak. We got rained out of our Airbnb in Joshua tree, so we were lucky the host had day-of availability, we just wish we had been able to stay longer!

    Aaron2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy private space, with quiet mornings and places for evening hikes. Close to town for supplies. Shelly was very helpful and we really enjoyed our time there. Recommended!! A PLUS host and space!

    mary2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Shelly. We will be back.

    Nicole & Sam2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Shelly's place was a great value, and as a tidy person, I appreciate that they don't charge absurd cleaning and service fees on top of the cost of the room. The room itself is a perfect space, with clean amenities and fully stocked kitchen. There is a quiet back patio with mountain views where you can enjoy your coffee, and you can see the lake from the front door. It was well heated, and the bed was comfortable. Shelly's husband Larry showed us in even when we arrived late because the mountain pass had held us up. We met his little dog BB as well, which is always a plus. We thank them and would absolutely stay again when visiting Lake Isabella!

Charming historical renovated cabin in the heart of Kernville
This charming renovated cabin is listed in the book Kernville’s Historical Houses. Originally located in Whiskey Flats (old kernville). Built in 1874. It was relocated to its current location in the 1950’s when the Lake Isabella Dam was being built.Located right across the street from the KRV Historical Museum. Walking distance to cafes, saloons, Circle Park, Kernville Park and various outdoor guide services. Updated with modern conveniences but still has the old days atmosphere. One of the best locations in Kernville. Also there is another larger cabin next store on the premises that can also be rented. It would be perfect for a family reunion or for larger groups wanting to stay together
Quaint western town right in the Heart of Kernville. Every outdoor activity you can image.
  • This was the perfect place to stay! I loved the small cabin feel! Extreamly happy with everything! Thank you and I will be back!

  • This spot is such a cozy little cabin perfect location for our needs in Kernville! Loved the walking distance to the shops and places to eat! Shelly is super quick to communicate and very accommodating. You'll be glad you booked here if you're staying near Lake Isabella area!

  • Excellent cabin, everything functions well, is stylish and comfortable. Pellet stove is super convenient. 2 minute walk to shops and restaurants.

    Joshua2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Gold rush era historical charm with completely dialed in amenities inside. The wood burning stove (sweet), Keurig coffee maker, stove, fridge, and TV were all great. The bed was super comfortable. All plumbing works perfectly. It really was the best of two worlds. And about 200 yards or so to downtown, yet the neighborhood was completely quiet...even on a busy weekend like Whisky Flat weekend. Host was great as well, and always responded to inquiries within minutes. Really glad I stayed here and will again!

Excellent place to stay on your way to or from Death Valley/Vegas or if you are a new-hire at China Lake and haven't yet found permanent housing. Directv, wifi, access to Keurig & microwave in the kitchen, living space, &pool. We rent 3 rooms so the bathroom is a shared space (body wash, shampoo & conditioner provided). All rooms have door access to the back yard patios & pool. Self check-in & out. We have a 10 year old cat named "Kitty" who is not allowed outside.
You will enjoy our home especially because the rooms are separated from the master area. When our daughter lived with us before leaving for college, she would ask us to come to her "wing" of the house to see her. It is quiet and spacious with a French door in each room that leads to the back area where we have a pool and sitting areas. Directv, wifi, access to shared full hallway bathroom (stocked with body wash, shampoo & conditioner). Access to Keurig & microwave in the kitchen, living space, and outside pool. We have 3 rooms we currently rent so the bathroom is a shared space. Self check in and out may be required due to our work schedules.***NO ACCESS: We do not allow AIRBNB guests to cook in our kitchen or wash items in our washer and dryer. We want to make that clear ahead of time so there is not any misunderstanding. For longer renters of a week or over, we do allow kitchen & laundry access. We have a 10 year old cat named Kitty who lives inside.
We live in the College Heights area with beautiful views of the mountains and easy access to walk path and trails. Most of our neighbors are older adults or professionals who are quiet and friendly.

  • Last minute booking for an overnight stay on the way to Death Valley National Park. They responded quickly with instructions which were all very clear. The place is beautiful and clean, and extremely comfortable. 2 minute drive to grocery store/gas station and a few more minutes to a variety of restaurants. Todd & Kymberly clearly take the extra effort to provide excellent hospitality and an excellent price. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Welcome to Darwin. We are a remote desert town located in S. Inyo County with a population of 30-40 residents. We are a friendly town with displays of art work all around. We have a post office and land lines, no cell or wifi (you can read about that when you scroll down). Sitting on the porch at Buck's cabin there is desert as far as you can see in every direction. Come bring your bikes and ride out in the desert. The wild flowers are beginning to bloom. Come spend a week and relax at Buck's.
We have a one bed (queen), one full bath, with shower that is wheel chair friendly. All door ways are 36" wide. Fully furnished kitchen with appliances and cook ware. Microwave, toaster oven, four burner stove top, coffee maker, refrigerator. Tiled floors throughout. Radiant heating under the floors with each room having it's own thermostat. It has 6" double insulated walls and double paned windows, which makes the cabin an warm and cozy place to hunker down in the winter. It has cooling fans, cooling system and a wonderful afternoon breeze. Also a beautiful view of the high desert in every direction.
You can buy a postage stamp in Darwin as far a businesses this is the only one. A must is a walk around town to look at the many artistic displays by locals. A chat with a local, everyone is friendly. A morning cup of coffee on the porch in a rocker chair and a view. Their are many old machines and cars located through out town. Enjoy!
  • I’m realizing that I will probably be the last guest to stay at the cabin for a while due to the Corona virus pandemic. That is a shame because I would come back to stay here in a heartbeat. The cabin was spacious, warm, clean & bright & the view from the kitchen sink/covered porch was to die for! Loved all the handcrafted elements, the doors, walls, cabinets & other unique touches. The sunsets, starlight nights & utter peace & quiet save for the odd jackrabbit hopping across the street were glorious. I really enjoyed meeting some of the local artists, you can see their work scattered around town. This place is seriously off the beaten path. No cell or WiFi service & nearest gas/stores are in Lone Pine. Bring all your food with you, the kitchen is amply equipped for cooking.

  • Jody's cabin was perfect for our weekend trip to Death Valley. It's quiet, clean, and cozy. The view of the night sky was beautiful and you can watch the sunset from the porch. Jody was a great host. It was lovely to get away in the little settlement of Darwin and enjoy the high desert.

    Eva2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Good Death Valley alternative to expensive hotels. Easy check in and nice interior. As Jody mentions in the description, don’t expect cell service, WiFi, gas or restaurants nearby.

    Sean2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jody’s cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and had many personal and cute touches. It was a perfect location for our short stay in Death Valley. I didn’t have the chance to meet Jody, but she was an excellent communicator and prompt with responding to emails. I highly recommend staying at her cabin and I would definitely stay there again.

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is cozy, quiet, clean and provides a remote oasis. Jody is a fabulous host and makes sure everything is understood and ready for your visit. I recommend staying in Buck’s and Darwin to explore this unique part of California. Make sure you make time to enjoy the stars and enjoy some meals in this cozy cabin.

    Erika2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Buck’s cabin while visiting Death Valley natl. park and it was great! Darwin is a really cute town and so is this cabin. There’s a full kitchen, heated floors, and lots of charm. The only thing I’d change would be the cell service, this was a little too much disconnect for us! But obviously that’s out of Jody’s control. Anyway, I would definitely stay here again! Great proximity to the park.

    Kelsee2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jody's place is well situated next to Death Valley. It's the perfect location to stay when visiting the national park. It's spotless and charming. The checkin process was smooth and painless. Jody responded to every question and request very quickly. She provided everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. I hope to have the opportunity to stay at her cabin again in the future. Thank you, Jody!!

  • Buck's cabin is a great place to stay at a base for exploring Death Valley. Only about 30 minutes to Darwin Falls and 90 minutes to Furnace Creek/ heart of the national park. Great star gazing and very quiet place. Very cozy and comfortable. All basic cookware at the house. Loved the heated floors made it a perfect indoor temperature in the winter.

Tillie Creek Retreat is a beautiful mountain cabin with hot tub and gorgeous decks for relaxing and enjoying the nature that surrounds you. This is a comfortable cabin in a unique and peaceful location. Mountains surround you and the jacuzzi and decks offer beautiful outdoor living with bbq seating for 6. • Absolutely wonderful!! We didn't want to leave.

    Greg2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect, nestled right next to a creek with a nice sitting area. A hot tub with a view of the mountain range, this place was awesome.

    Andy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The comfiest beds and living spaces await you inside a quaint and well-outfit mountainside retreat home. The property's multiple scenic lookouts and fishing holes beckon you to not only enjoy the cozy indoors but venture outside to appreciate the rocky majesty that surrounds the Tillie Creek community. Hot tub stargazing will end up on your itinerary. The TV is small but it's probably for the best--there's more fun to be had here with home cooked meals and board games spread out over ample tabletops, backed by music from nice quality speakers. Everything works flawlessly, especially the stove which is better than yours at home, and the water heater which pumps steam and high flow in seconds. An absolute pleasure myself and my friends hope to visit again when snow blankets the hillsides.

    Talia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The deck and creek side amenities are fantastic..... The sound of the creek and the view from the hot tub are most appreciated! Our dog loved running up and down the hill and swimming in the clean, cool creek water. While a few other houses and a nearby road are visible, it was very private and peaceful. The cabin is not fancy but very clean and comfortable.

    Robert2020-02-28T00:00:00Z

Welcome to Harmony Hills! A one bed, one bath guest suite nestled high in Wofford Heights, minutes from Isabella Lake, surrounded by beautiful scenery! Easy access to the Sequoia National Forest, Trail of 100 Giants, and the wild and scenic Kern River. Perfect for guests in town to sightsee who need a secure, private place to lay their head. Enjoy the lake view during the day or clear starry night sky from the front porch and watch for wildlife in the morning from the backyard patio!
A private guest suite (bedroom and bathroom with it's own, secured entrance) on the back end of a gorgeous A Frame home in Wofford Heights. The front of the home has a spectacular view of Isabella Lake and the Scodie Mountains and your patio looks out into the backyard which is booming with wildlife year round. The room comes complete with mini fridge, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, shampoo, soap, towels and more - everything you need for a comfortable night's stay, even Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney + and a Roku TV are included for your enjoyment! We do our best to clean with gentle, environmentally friendly cleaning products and provide earth conscious soaps and shampoos. We do recycle so if you would like to set any aluminum cans or glass or plastic bottles aside, that would be great! There is a dedicated CRV container by the blue trash bins. Also, feel free to use our compost roller in the backyard for any food scraps! Erica and her family are my tenants who live inside the main part of the home. She does the housekeeping for the room and she is usually available if you need assistance or there is an emergency. A solid deadbolt locked door seperates your space from their's and they will give you your privacy, please show them the same respect. Her phone number is posted on the wall if you need help and I am also available to answer questions via telephone or Airbnb. She also usually has some fun handmade clay creations for sale in the house. If you feel like shopping, just message her and she will bring them right to your room! To see examples of her work, check out her Etsy page (there are business cards in the room) or find her on Instagram @krazydazey The room is self check-in so arrive whenever you like and let yourself in via the instructions you will receive after booking. There are small, active children in the home and you will hear noise throughout the day as you would in any home with a family and children. Night time is usually pretty peaceful, the family is usually in bed early but please note that they are early risers (they are usually always up before 6am) so if you are a very light sleeper, please keep that in mind. Running the fan in the bathroom, the television, heater or sound machine are all good ways to block out noise from inside the rest of the house. Their kitchen/living room is on the other side of your wall and the bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, to give you an idea of the layout. You may see them outside and will definitely hear them through the walls but otherwise you will have 100% privacy - make yourself at home!
Just under two miles to Isabella Lake. 10 minutes to Kernville. 20 minutes to Greenhorn Summit, and just over an hour to the Trail of 100 Giants! Then entire area is surrounded by the Sequoia National Forest and all the Kern River Valley has to offer. Minutes down the hill is the Reel Cinema, a charming little unique theater as well as some other local stores.
  • The space was amazing, Erica goes over and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We had all the amenities we could want, the room was really clean and had thoughtful touches. Wofford heights is a cute little town and we were really happy we made a stop for a night!

This family-friendly motel features a horseshoe pit and fire pit for guest enjoyment. Mount Olancha is 25 minutes’ drive away. Rooms offer mountain views. A small fridge is provided in the rooms and microwave in the lobby at Rustic Oasis Motel. A barbecue area and a picnic area are onsite at the Motel Rustic Oasis. Guests can enjoy mountain views while relaxing with their family. Sequoia National Forest is less than 2 hours’ drive from the motel. Owens Lake is 10 miles away.
This motel is about as close as you can come to authentic western Americana. The Rustic Oasis Motel is a family owned motel with just eight rooms. It has survived when a lot of places like this were torn down to make room for bigger motels and concrete parking lots. Our Rustic sign out front next to Hwy 395 is a testament to this motels survival, it has gone through rough times, the sign has been battered, but it still stands tall. People pull over on the side of the road daily in their cars to get a photograph of it, it is a landmark for this area. We have beautiful mountains in front and behind us. We have no smog and the sky is blue, and at night you can see the stars. We are in the high desert and it is beautiful here. Some people think this area is spiritual or magical, we think it could be both. We are a simple motel and a peaceful place. The most special thing about our motel is the guests. They are the adventurers, lovers of nature, searchers , and weary travelers. With out them we would not exist.
  • Lovely place, really felt like a place with a soul. The room was clean and cozy. The bed was super comfortable! Beautiful and strategic location near Death Valley.

We've a very nice home, and with the onslaught of coronavirus we want our guests to know that we sanitize bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom areas after each guest. Bed clothes and towels also have a sanitizer added to each wash. Guests that stay with us can be assured that we want all to be safe and we are proactive with safety standards. The bed is VERY comfortable, and we have whisper soft sheets. If you have any concerns about a stay with us, please contact us. Continental breakfast INCLUDED
Parking is easily available either on the street or we have one space available in our driveway. Our home is located in a nice area of Ridgecrest and is safe. Bedroom has ceiling fan for air movement, and during the summer months we have evaporative cooling. The home stays at about 79 degrees. The desert southwest is an adventure to explore, with Death Valley, Mount Whitney, Mammoth Lakes, and other attractions within a short car ride. Fresh and filtered water is available in the room. Smoking IS ALLOWED on the front porch or back patio.
Quiet, safe area. Plenty of parking on the street in front of our house, and a variety of restaurants in the area. Located only 1 1/2 hours from Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley, one hour away from Lone Pine/Mount Whitney (where many of our famous western films were made), and 3 1/2 hours from the Sequoia National Park. We are in a prime location for many of our desert Southwest attractions.
  • I stay in a lot of Airbnb’s and this has been one of my best experiences. Clean, quiet, and accurate description. The bed was comfortable and internet fast. Hospitality was beyond amazing and I will definitely stay again!

  • Bill and Sally are amazing hosts ! They were very nice, gave us advices for our trips, the room and the bathroom were very clean, and the breakfast was offered. Thank you very much!

  • I enjoyed my overnight stay here. The bed is super comfortable and the space was very clean. There were so many thoughtful touches. Plus, Bill and Sally are super nice and good communicators.

    Rebecca2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great launching stop before heading to Death Valley. Bill and Sally offered us some great tips and had some helpful literature to review while we were there. We had our own private space which was spotless and comfortable. We would highly recommend when visiting the area.

    Betty2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Bill & Sally were phenomenal hosts to my husband when he arrived to Ridgecrest. We are in the process of re-locating to Ridgecrest and he needed a safe place to stay while he secured a home. He only spoke good things about Bill & Sally and their home. He was extremely comfortable and mentioned that they were extremely kind and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience during his arrival. He was initially delayed in arriving and they were very accommodating to his flight and driving schedule. I thank them so much and we are very appreciative of their kindness. Please do not hesitate to book their home! We highly encourage anyone looking for a safe, clean place to stay while in Ridgecrest, to book their home!

    Patricia2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beyond a very clean and pleasant accommodation (bedding at the top) Bill and Sally are very warm and have lots of good advice to give on the region. It is worth the detour just to be able to meet these two adorable people. Perfect for recharging your batteries before attacking Death Valley!

    Marie2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place! Bill and Sally are so warm and sweet, they make us feel like home.

A 5th wheel RV set up under the desert stars with full hook ups, TV and WiFi. The trailer is very comfortable for 1 or 2 people. You are in your own private section of the three acre yard with outside seating for the cool nights. We are on a dirt road just off the pavement with direct access to off road trails, biking and hiking. The location is 10 minutes from Ridgecrest, China Lake NAWS base and on the out skirts of Death Valley. It is a farm setting with Chickens, friendly dogs and cats.
We are at the base of the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range. There is a lot of off-roading in the area. Tons of California history to visit, old mining towns and hiking. Even a local brewery not to far away. We are also close to China Lake Navy base for those on a temporary assignment that don't like being in the city.
The neighborhood is all on acreage with views of the mountains. Tons of outdoor activities in every direction. The small town of Inyokern is only a few miles away with a couple restaurants, gas stations, post office and market.
  • Terry's place was perfect: tranquil, clean and well-equipped. Very welcoming hosts and dogs.

Kern River Valley getaway near Sequoia National Forest. Located in the Mt. Mesa community of Lake Isabella. The area offers Natural Hot Springs, Boating, Camping, Wind Surfing, Kayaking, Hiking, Hunting, Mountain Biking, Offroading, River Rafting, SUP, Trail Running, Snow sports at Alta Sierra, Archery, Outdoor Shooting Range, etc. The options are endless with an open mind. Kernville is about 18 miles away (25 min drive). Alta Sierra is about 20 miles away (35 min drive).
The room is attached to the back of the main house. You have a private entrance. Drive up the pebbled path into the gated side yard and park next to the patio entrance. It's a gated backyard with a small gated area that you can open up to a larger gated area which is great for dogs. There's a charcoal grill, 2 sets of tables & chairs, a playground and fire pit. There's a microwave, toaster, mini fridge, crockpot, griddle, electric hot plate and Keurig with a variety of coffees teas & hot cocoa. King size memory foam bed, and if you need, we can add a twin size floor mattress (must let us know in advance if you need it). Marquis Spa Hot Tub in the room! Stand up shower. The room shares a wall with our kitchen. If we are home, you may hear us from time to time. We are mindful of our noise level and try to stay out of the kitchen after 9pm. None of our guests have ever complained or even noticed. Just want you to be aware before booking that you may hear some normal household noise.
We are in a great neighborhood. All our neighbors are friendly and they all know we have an Airbnb suite. Hospital, bowling alley, park, restaurants and lake are walking distance from the house. Kernville is a 25 minute drive away and Alta Sierra is about a 35 minute drive away. We are located in Kern River Valley, a region in the Southern Sierra Nevada in Kern County. We are not in Sequoia National Park (about 3 hours away).

  • Outstanding location!! Christos is a great host!!

    Justin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Christos was a fantastic host who was always quick to respond and provided all the info my group and I needed! The studio was lovely and much bigger than expected. It was very clean and had all the amenities we needed/wanted, including a grill, back porch to lounge in, and not to mention a beautiful view of the lake! The lake itself is walking distance from the studio, so we took advantage of that, especially since we had our pups with us. There were also some nearby trails we visited which were all very scenic and dog-friendly. We highly recommend this place! Thank you so much again, Christos!

  • A wonderful place to stay! Beautiful location with easy access to lots of hiking. A great weekend escape. Christos was always quick to respond and very helpful. Definitely recommend!

    Jacki2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I was in desperate need to get away from the hustle and bustle of my every day life. Kernville is the best place to escape to, I call it my “happy place”. It’s such a fun area and I decided to get Christos’s Airbnb for the long weekend. I must say it over exceeded expectations. The views were spectacular from the sunrise in the morning to the stars at night. And the best part is from the back yard you are literally looking out onto the mountains and lake. Also down the street is a trail that takes you to a secluded beach! The cabin itself was very clean and had everything you would need. Not to mention that it’s decorated so cool. I want to live in this Airbnb it’s so homey and just has such a great feel to it. I highly recommend this place whether it’s just you and your dog like in my case or you and friends or family. I hope to say here again!

Hi! Welcome to our home! It’s just my girls and I who live here. My girls are only home every other week and I’m gone a lot as well, so it’s pretty quiet even when we’re home. I have a private bedroom and private bathroom across the hall from each other. We have 2.5 acres so plenty of parking for any kind of vehicle! I also have a laundry room, kitchen and living room for your use. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Have a great day and safe trip! Sorry, but no dogs at this time.
You have a private bedroom and private bathroom. If you want to rent for a month we can work out a deal to where it’s cheaper every night.
We are at the end of a dirt road and don’t really have any neighbors. It’s very quiet.
  • Billi's place is great. They came in after I went to bed and I didn't even hear them come home -- thank you Billi. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Billi is very friendly and sociable, enjoyed our time chatting. She has a sweet/cute older dog who loves to be petted. Booked her place the same afternoon that I needed a room for the night, and she communicated right away. It was a very good stay. Thanks Billi.

  • Really great place to stay if you're stopping by Death Valley! The studio was very nice, has basic kitchen amenities, a smart tv and a cozy restroom! The bed was comfortable, Honestly exactly like the pictures, even the sodas and snacks . Triumphal was great with responding and even added some special touches when i told him we were celebrating our valentines weekend. The town is small but has a lot of different places to eat really close by! Will definitely be staying here at when we come back to Death Valley

    Minerva2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here one night on our way into Death Valley, and it was just what we were looking for. The check in process was smooth, and the apartment was clean, comfortable, and just as described. We appreciated the snacks left by the host. We only had some trouble with the internet.

    William2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic value and the perfect place for a quiet, private time to recharge. Room contains many working and functional amenities. I used the fridge, microwave, ceramic plates and cups, but there were also other things like a toaster and coffee maker. Triumphal also made available some snacks that were a great touch. Prompt and clear communication with Triumphal also made for easy check-in and follow-up process. 10/10 would recommend.

  • This was the perfect pit stop on our way to Death Valley coming from the west. We arrived in the evening and we were able to do some laundry from our trip before we headed out in the morning. There is a gas station across the street and a grocery store, pharmacy, and restaurants close by. The place was clean, stylish, and spacious. We had very clear check-in and check-out instructions that made the whole process very smooth. I highly recommend this place if you’re traveling through the area.

  • Our stay was wonderful! The description of the place was very accurate and Evan made staying here a pleasant experience.

    Max2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect, especially if you're driving through because of it's location. Also, it's so modern, stylish, and even nicer in actual! Everyone I stayed with was complimenting about how amazing the shower pressure is in both bathrooms (That's definitely a plus, especially if you've been away from home for a while). Great check-in instructions and very easy to find (even at night). Very quick responses from Evan. Would highly recommend and would stay again. Thank you!

    Valerie2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Evan's place was a great stopover after traveling through Death Valley. It was spacious, clean, and in a good location. We'd definitely go back!

    Ben2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Evan's place was beautifully decorated and very clean. My family loved the the tasteful decor and how spacious and tidy the place was. The beds and the couches were very comfortable. The amenities including the ample kitchenware available for use made the stay very convenient, especially since we were there for New Year's Eve. It was also located in a nice and quiet neighborhood within easy driving distance to grocery stores and good restaurants. I highly recommend this place for anyone passing through Ridgecrest!

    Dora2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful stay for us before our drive to Death Valley National Park! I loved that the parking space is adjacent to the back patio entrance which lead to the kitchen. It was super convenient to unload/load our luggage to our car. The apartment was super clean and roomy for our family. The kitchen had all the basic amenities that we needed. Beds were comfy, my son said the folding cot was the most comfortable bed he’s slept on!!! Location is convenient to the Walmart (less than 5 min drive) for our supply stock up, and one block to a gas station, convenience store, and the highway that leads directly to Death Valley NP. I don’t know if it was due to the recent storm that happened but the WiFi was really slow. We were unable to log onto the internet or watch Netflix. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who plans to stay in Ridgecrest.

    Angela2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Like other comments, good location, rooms are large, clean and very comfortable, but wifi is very slow. We also felt it was pretty good. I can recommend it to my friends.

It’s a great home base for anyone planning on visiting Death Valley. Trung was very quick with his responses and was accommodating as well. Also loved their cat!

A separate game room and Sky deck make the 395 Retreat a relaxing and well sought out for families or just for a fun getaway! Our home has beautiful views of the Eastern Sierras. The home is completely brand new, inside and out. Two very comfortable queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. Full kitchen and appliances are available. As we said before we offer a game room w/pool table, darts, a campfire arena, Bbq and patio. For your night time viewing there is a stargazing deck. Come explore!!
5 acres semi secluded. Very peaceful and quiet. In the middle of tons of outdoor adventures. You may bring your own dirt bikes for riding right out of the property with miles of desert for your pleasure. Four wheeling in the local Sierra canyons with magnificent views. Hiking, mountain biking for miles. Great fishing within an hours drive, my husband is an avid fisherman so talk to him about his hot spots. Deer hunters or other hunters, we are very close to d8, d9, and X10 zones. Take a day drive to Death Valley or up to the Giant Sequoias.
The 395 Retreat faces the beautiful Eastern Sierra Mountains. It's remote enough to get away from all the everyday noise and close enough to town to catch a bite at the many restaurant choices Ridgecrest and Inyokern has to offer. There's wildlife surrounding the area with bunnies, squirrels and birds in our viewing area. Or enjoy a campfire with your loved ones with owls flying above in the desert sky. Definitely an experience to enjoy and explore while staying with us. Then at night sleep in a comfortable home with all the luxuries of a five star hotel. You won't be disappointed. We hope to see you soon!
  • Cute and cozy spot between Death Valley and Sequoia National Parks. Great game room and quiet, clean space. Definitely recommend!!

  • The 395 Retreat was a quiet and comfortable place to stay while exploring the natural wonders in the area. We went specifically to see Red Rock Canyon and the Trona Pinnacles. Both are must sees. Be prepared for some bumpy dirt roads and dark nights. I recommend getting to the house during the day at least the first time. We brought our small dog and he LOVED the property and had a blast running around on his own in the fenced grounds. And even though it was cold outside, the house itself had good heating and felt very cozy. Vanessa was also very easy to communicate with and extremely prompt in her replies.

Description Views of the mountains are spectacular, making the studio an area of quiet rest. You may walk a few meters to sit on a rock to enjoy the view or sit at the table to read or write and still enjoy the view. This listing is a studio apartment near, but does not share, any common walls with the living area of our main home. NOTE: PLEASE BE ADVISED that the Trail of 100 Giants is always closed if there is snow at elevation.
I can't promise this, but I went out tonight and saw a large buck eating in our yard. There was a rabbit, quail, robins, scrub jays, and lots of coyote scat. Not your usual experience at a rental, most likely! We can't promise you this experience, but we can promise relative quiet and spectacular views, a comfy bed, and an experience to remember.
Neighborhood The studio feels like a world away, but is only five minutes from the center of town. There are hiking paths out the door that you will enjoy. We are visited by deer, bobcats, foxes at night, and all manner of wildlife if we are quiet, as we are a mile from the village of Kernville and a thousand feet higher. In town there is a Craft Brewery, (Kern River Brewing Company), which has two distinct locations, and the music is excellent on Friday nights. We boast The Starlight Lounge and Wine Bar in town with gourmet food and live music on Thursday evenings - sometimes jazz - sometimes cowboy country - with many of the bands coming from the surrounding area to play for and with us! Besides these restaurants, there are Italian, pizza, Mexican, a deli (the Fremont Deli) and a great coffee bar called the Big Blue Bear. The Kern River Runs Through It, the town, that is, and it can be hairy whitewater in the spring and mild tubing fun later on, with many places to picnic. There is a local park on the river, and its always cooler there, even if the temperature is i the 90s. We have a museum (open Thursday through Sunday, 10 to 4) which is ever expanding, showing the history of the many movies that were filmed here in Kernville as well as geological artifacts, the history of the Edison hydroelectric plants, and some local Indian artifacts. We are five hours from Yosemite; four and a half from Las Vegas; a little over three hours from Death Valley; six from San Francisco; three from LA, and a mere hour from the Trail of 100 Giants (Please note that the Trail is closed in winter). We are minutes from parking for any number of lovely hikes, some with relatively secluded pools (Bull Run Trail). Just ask us. We have rafting, biking, and kayaking outfitters in our mountain tourist town, so you can find what you need here. Book in advance at Sierra South or Mountain and Rivers for rafting the Kern River in Spring or early summer!
  • Lisa and John's place was the perfect spot for a weekend trip away from the city. It was quiet, beautiful, and clean. Lisa was very warm and welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. The views from the guesthouse were amazing, and we loved sitting under the stars at night. Thank you!!! We hope to come back soon :)

    Anna2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to be treated kindly and experience paradise you have to visit John and Lisa! The homemade candy is as amazing as the view!!!

    TinaFelix2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • John and Lisa are impeccable hosts. They are a lovely couple; they are friendly and shared amazing tales of their own journeys. Their communication was clear and immediate. They were attentive and cared about my stay and comfort. The unit overlooks the Kern River Valley and the southern end of Sequoia National Park. The views from the unit are great: peaceful and quiet. A place where you can really hear yourself think. It is about a 10-15 minute drive to the park entrance. The unit is modern, well-lit with big windows, clean, comfortable, and private. The bed is memory foam with the right amount of firmness. Lisa leaves a treat of her homemade chocolate in the refrigerator that is irresistible. Tasteful and personal touches throughout. Will I return? absolutely Do I recommend Lisa and John's place? without reservation

    Chris2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • John and Lisa's place is the perfect getaway from the hectic workweek! We stayed over New Years Eve, and we can't wait to come back. The drive up their mountain may be a little daunting, but the place is absolutely worth it! John and Lisa had little treats and special touches waiting for us, like a bottle of wine, a parking spot with a welcome sign on it, and home-made chocolates. The room does not disappoint with the views either; this is the perfect place to enjoy gorgeous views of mountains with optimal access to hiking trails, the small town of Kernville, and the quiet relaxing cottage. They place birdseed on the rocks outside the main window, so the sounds of wildlife greets you in the morning, and the sunrise is spectacular. The guest book lists places to go, eat, and see, and their suggestions are spot-on. This is definitely the place to book if you're looking for privacy, relaxation, access to the outdoors and hiking trails, and a quiet spot to relax in the evenings. We know Kernville is much busier in the summer, but we loved the solitude of the winter season and still found wonderful hikes in the area. We can't wait to come back again!

    Tricia2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great escape and awesome adventure! You have a quiet little back house with an amazing view all to yourself with a jacuzzi just outside the entrance. There are hikes to and around the river, all of which have amazing views. There were plenty of cute cafes and restaurants available in the area. Its the right place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway or an adventure on the river!

    Sarah2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and John are fantastic hosts. The place is cozy and immediately just felt like home. Also, they had tons of tips for local activities and we loved sharing drinks & conversation on the terrace.

  • This was a perfect quiet spot to get away for the weekend. The rv was super clean and the outdoor set up was adorable. Can’t beat the view. Heat worked great, wireless connection was solid. Good communication and hosts were very welcoming. As was Deebo, the cat, who kept me company outside while I had my coffee. This is a great spot for hiking, and the Kern River Brewing Co was tasty. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful house with views of the Sierras and Kelso Valley. This could be your base camp for white water rafting, fishing the Kern River, Audubon's Kern River Preserve, the PCT, Giant Sequoia trees, Red Rock Canyon, or hiking the high country. Note that we are 1 hr 15 min (44 miles) from Giant Sequoia trees at the Trail of 100 Giants. Sequoia National Park is a three hour drive. We are solar powered and have backup generator power to overcome mandated outages. Trail of 100 Giants closed, snow.
The house sits on 6 amazing acres and has modern amenities like WiFi, Blu Ray DVD, cell phone service (T-Mobile best, Verizon good, AT&T not so good -- all available via Wi-Fi calling), air conditioning, central heat, home theater, excellent music system, LCD TV, Dish Network and ROKU.. One queen size bed -- we cater to couples, but the possibility of one or two more guests on an inflatable bed for an additional charge. One full bathroom and a kitchen with cookware and utensils to cook up a storm. You will have an outside covered, screened-in deck with propane grill and an additional open deck to take in the stunning mountain views or the stars and meteorites at night. The space is designed to be self-contained. Views in every direction. No close neighbors or town or traffic. In fact little noise except what nature offers. Ideal for a couple. This is NOT cafe society. We are somewhat remote. Trail of 100 Giants is not currently open -- still winter schedule.
The neighborhood is one of the things that sets this property apart. It is remote and quiet. The parcel is 6.25 acres. In European terms that is 100 x 250 meters; most lots are 2.5 acres. Many guests come for a retreat. The few neighbors you may encounter on a walk or hike are well-mannered and helpful. Hiking trails and quiet roads are available close by and out the door for hiking, cycling or birding. It is Spring now so weather is cool during the night and pleasant during the day. Our approach road is paved and maintained and the address is well marked and easily found. Know that this is a rural area so if you are going to arrive late, it is best to have your food supplies with you already as things are not open 24/7 here. 8 PM for close by; 11 PM half hour drive, earlier on Sunday. This area is remote. We are not in the thick of it; i.e., no Starbucks or other places nearby. Local dining guide provided in the residence and online here. We already have a great reputation for cleanliness but due to the Corona virus we now sanitize before your arrival. Also, we are allowing three days after you leave for our cleaning staff to safely enter. Then we allow three more days more days minimum befor the next booking. This is done to meet CDC guidelines for the life of the virus on various surfaces. While you visit, we ask that you also follow CDC guidelines and California guidelines for social distancing.
  • Sweet, very private cabin in a secluded canyon. The huge screened-in porch with sweeping private view of the hills and meadow was particularly special.

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly special. A spacious screened in porch looks directly out on the beautiful mountains. The inside is very comfortable, great kitchen and well stocked, comfy bed, clean. Definitely as advertised and well exceeded expectations. If your in the area, this is the one you want.

    Nadiya2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Michael’s property is exceptional. Tucked up on a hill, the house has been built with the landscape in mind: huge windows and French doors open to breathtaking vistas. The interior design is sleek, functional and modern, with incredible aesthetic treats (check out the cutlery!). Wood burning stove, fantastic amenities, and a lovely host. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you so much, Michael.

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect stay. Michael is a kind, thoughtful, and generous host. The house is on a beautiful piece of land. The layout is great, the interior is cosy and well designed. Great for relaxing indoors or outdoors. Great kitchen for cooking and a BBQ on the screened porch. All around just a great stay and at a great value. Not to mention that incredible nature is a short drive away.

    Aleksander2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my stay with Mike! He is an amazing host and the cabin is just perfect in every way. You can relax on the patios, hike the lands literally just outside the door, star gaze at night, relax by the wood stove fire, watch tv, and/or read books on local trails and bird species that Mike is kind enough to provide for your reference (with binoculars too!). The cabin is near small towns Incase you need anything. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans to cook with, which is what I did all of my stay. The fridge had an arrangement of condiments Incase you needed anything. Coffee and teas were available as well. The views from the cabin are spectacular! Both day and night. Mike was kind enough to take me out on a hike with him one day. I truly loved that experience learning about him and the community within Fay Ranch Road. Mikes cabin was the perfect spot for a retreat from the busy city life. I feel a sleep often on the patio while listening to the local birds in the morning and listen to the small stream flowing by. The hiking just outside the cabin was lovely and a great work out! I did a few night hikes to star gaze and felt safe wondering in the dark. The area is well maintained and it’s easy to find walking paths to follow. I hope to visit Mike and the lovely cabin again! It’s definitely a gem that I hope to treasure more often.

We offer a part of our home that we affectionately call "The West Wing". A locking door separates it from our living quarters and provides access to parking area, pool/hot tub. A covered porch and large windows provide beautiful views of the Indian Wells Valley, Sierra Nevadas, and Rademacher Hills. We have direct access to hiking & off road trails. This is an excellent base for area day trips or as a gateway to many nearby destinations.
Separate guest wing with bedroom, private living area, bath and kitchenette (with microwave, toaster oven, and single burner), private pool and hot tub access, fire pit, basketball 1/2 court, private entrance, beautiful desert views.
Our 2 acre property sits on a small hillside overlooking the Indian Wells Valley. We enjoy beautiful views of the valley, Sierra Nevadas, and the Rademacher Hills. Local hiking and off road trails can be reached from the property. Yet, we are only 8 minutes drive to the center of Ridgecrest. It is about 11-15 minutes onto China Lake Naval Weapons Center, depending on which gate you use. We're on the southeast side of town, making Trona an easy commute.
  • The wing is clean and cozy.

  • Arrived at the Desert Oasis after a driving from Vegas through Death Valley ... Just as described, or better! Clean, quiet, hot tub, washer / dryer, stocked kitchen, thoughtful hosts. Ephen Tacos was the perfect takeout option after the long drive, the discount was applied and appreciated! Stargazing from the hot tub was better than imagined. Wished it was more than one night, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Matt2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Desert Oasis is a great place to crash while exploring the CA Desert and nearby Death Valley to the east or Kernville to the west. Don't forget your swimsuit!

    Tony2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Craig and Robin are excellent communicators and hosts. We very much enjoyed our stay at their apartment. Craig and Robin shared their local knowledge by providing tips on visiting Death Valley and surrounding areas. And we enjoyed dinner at their restaurant.

    Lulu2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Craig and Robin have a comfortable place within striking distance of Death Valley and the Sequoia National Forest. They are great hosts, super responsive and knowledgeable about the area. The unit itself is spacious (though the bed is a double, not a queen or a king), with a large living room and a well-stocked kitchen. The main windows look out onto mountains that were capped with snow for our visit.

    Mark2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Craig & Robin’s place is situated perfectly for a good night’s stay. All amenities were available and guest wing had perfect privacy. They had an amazing collection of wines that they allowed us to drink. The patio was nice and we were able to grill meat even at midnight.

  • Great space for our 4 night stay in Ridgecrest. Clean, comfy and had everything you need for a short stay. Pool was amazing and hot tub was perfect to relax in at the end of the day. Also really handy to have laundry facilities if you are travelling for longer. Robyn and Craig were great hosts and gave us brilliant local tips for the area and our day trip out to death valley. Also don't miss stopping by their restaurant - best fish tacos we've had!

The ultimate desert "get away from it all" destination. Set on 480 acres and surrounded by public land. Your nearest neighbor is 3 miles away, but you're only 6 miles away from the City of Ridgecrest, CA, a Gateway to Death Valley. Completely off-grid, but with modern amenities. Use the pods as a convenient stop between Death Valley, Tahoe/Mammoth Mountain and the California Coastal cities.
Designed for indoor/outdoor living, the space is small and intimate, meant to celebrate the stark desert environment. You feel the intensity of the sun and wind, hear it when it rains, and experience the quiet solitude of the dark, starry sky.
    No neighbors for miles
  • This property is beyond amazing. It’s definitely secluded but not so much that you’ll be lost. The hosts are extremely quick to respond and nearby should you need their help. They also run a buggy tour and if you even feel like it’s something you may be interested in- just book it. We did the 4 hr tour (they have a 2 hr option as well) and Chris showed us places we wouldn’t have seen otherwise and he was extremely knowledgeable. We didn’t get to be outside as much due to the wind and we weren’t really prepared for that so we ate out in town and then hunkered down in the pods. But I imagine bbqing and the small bonfire pit would make for a wonderful way to wind down and truly relax. Despite the wind, we loved making use of the pods for relaxation. It’s also dog friendly and my dog explored the property as well. I will definitely be coming back to the desert pods in the future!

  • This a very neat, tidy, cozy space! The heater is amazing! It was so cold outside, but the heater kept us toasty warm. The apartment is a nice size and a great value. The host was very responsive and very easy to work with. We would stay here again!

  • Great place to stay.

Self check in and out may be required due to our work schedules. We do not allow AIRBNB guests to cook in our kitchen or wash items in our washer and dryer. We want to make that clear ahead of time so there is not any misunderstanding. For longer renters of a week or over, we do allow kitchen & laundry access. We have a 10 year old cat named Kitty who lives inside only.
We live in the College Heights area with beautiful views of the mountains and easy access to walk path and trails. Most of our neighbors are older adults or professionals who are quiet and friendly.
  • Kymberly's place was really clean and cozy. We had a great stay and would totally recommend this place to future visitors!!

  • Breathtaking. The best stay I have ever had and I travel all over the country. Restaurant recommendations were great. The bed is very comfortable. The view can’t be described in words. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Very nice stay! I love the enclosed backyard and the bed is very comfy!

    Yiding2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay. I wouldn’t even call it a studio, it’s very spacious and perfect for a couple and pups. The home was adorable with cute decor, sparkling clean, the bed was SO comfortable, which is one of my things - like if the bed is uncomfortable it just ruins the get away. The bedding, pillows and blankets were all comfortable. There was direct tv which was nice to have after being out exploring all day. The home was super Private and the property bordered the park with beautiful view of the mountains. The small fenced in backyard was perfect for the dogs. I highly recommend this place. Value and quality were excellent. Thank you again

  • What a lovely, cozy, clean, comfortable place...with an incredible view and hike on the door step. Initially I was worried about no WiFi but I loved it - a total unplugged getaway! Johnnys place is the situated in the perfect location for hikes along Lake Isabella, the River Kern and just a 20 mins drive to the miracle hot springs! A must. Johnny is a wonderful host who replied instantly and made sure we knew what was available to us in the area when we arrived. I would come back in a heart beat!

    Chloe2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Johnny's place was great! The studio was very clean and the outdoor space was amazing. The view was incredible. We would definitely come back and explore more of the area in the summer.
