Shangrila has gotten even better. My son, Gino, & his sweet little dog, Frida, are cohosting with me. Gino is very knowledgable about the many hiking trails in the area. The delightful Occidental Bohemian Farmers Market runs Fri. evenings from the end of June till the end of Oct. If you long to get your hands dirty, but don't have a garden, we'll share ours. There's always something to do!
Your spacious room overlooks a redwood forest with a meadow & wooded hills beyond. You may think you want to visit Sonoma County vineyards, beaches, or the Russian River, but once you're here, you may not want to leave. The room is quiet. You have your own bathroom called "The Mexi" because of Mexican tiles & mementos of travels in that country. There is safe, off street parking. You are within walking distance of the picturesque village of Occidental where there are good restaurants, gift shops, & tennis courts. People also love to ride bicycles around here even tho the roads are narrow, curvy, & steep. We are early risers & will have coffee ready by 7:00 with a gourmet continental breakfast consisting of home pressed organic apple juice, homegrown organic seasonal fruits, homemade jam & a special sweet. We are well situated as a stopover, but we could also be a destination. We have lawn Bocce ball & horse shoes. For rest after those exertions, there are hammocks in the redwoods. There is such good bird watching here that the local Audubon stops here during their Xmas bird count. When the weather isn't conducive to outside time, there is a fireplace in the living room. We love to share this beautiful place. Come on over!
Shangrila is in a quiet, pretty neighborhood in Occidental.
  • Mary has a lovely place nestled in the redwoods at the end of a quiet road. The host was warm and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Mary's house is in a great location to see the Redwoods & also the coast. The bedroom & bathroom were clean & very comfortable, Mary, Gino & Freida were very welcoming, we also had time to sit out the back amongst the redwoods around their home. The beds were very comfortable, towels left to use & a kettle & mugs for tea...which is a great touch for the British like us that take teabags everywhere we go!! Occidental is a 5 minute drive & a lovely little town with some shops & restaurants for brunch/lunch (we ate in Howards) or dinner (Union Hotel Restaurant & Barley & Hops). The Redwoods in Armstrong Park are amazing & if you are fit enough take a hike on one of the Ridge paths, ensure you have a couple of bottles of water each, good shoes & walking poles if needed as it can get steep...but the views at the top are great.

  • My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Mary's. Mary and her son Gino (and his dog Frida) are wonderful hosts, super accommodating and personable. She made coffee cake for breakfast and there is always fresh fruit available. They told us about the local farmers market in Occidental and the Grove of Old Trees (a must-do easy walk). Her home is lovely -- I'd say a work of art -- in the most gorgeous setting in the redwoods. Every room has skylights to enjoy the towering redwoods. Idyllic. A wedding brought us to the area for the weekend, but if time permitted, I could have spent the days in a hammock under the trees and playing with Frida. I'm sorry we had to bug out so early Sunday morning for our long drive back to LA and miss saying goodbye. I love that Mary calls it "Shangrila," because it is!

  • Mary is an excellent host. Enjoyed our time there.

  • Quiet, private wing of the main house, with peaceful and inviting wooded grounds

  • A lovely getaway from the normal hustle and bustle. Love the trees and atmosphere!

  • Mary was helpful, kind, generous and well connected in her community. Not to mention her home is beautiful, well kept and has an organic, wholesome feel. Mary made us feel welcome in her home and we are so happy we stumbled upon Shangrila! Would stay there again.

A rustic, cozy cottage nestled in the majestic redwoods of Sonoma county makes the perfect weekend getaway or month retreat. Relax in 2 acres of landscaped garden or drive to convenient restaurants, the ocean, or San Francisco.
This is perfect for the person/persons who love nature. It is a cozy converted chicken coop with an added deck and outdoor shower. The fridge, microwave and hot plate make it easy to stay in although the adorable town of Occidental with its delicious restaurants are fun.
This is a no through road so it is very quiet. And even though the houses are far apart, the neighbors are close and watch out for each other. There is a beautiful walking path available to the neighborhood.
  • I’ve almost never stayed at Airbnb, and towards the end of my trip thought to myself “I wish this was more than just a vacation spot”. This was the case in Josephine’s place I was absolutely astounded by everything about the stay. The forest garden, stretching over two acres and designed by hand over 20 years, genuinely feels like a paradise out of a fantasy film. The location radiates positive, intentional mindfulness. You must stay here.

    Luke2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this beautiful bnb! Pictures dont do it justice. We felt like we had an entire redwood forest to ourselves. Josephine was a wonderful host too! Highly recommended

    Wes2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • There was a fat cat named Carl. He is the bestest boy. We let him in the cabin with us at night and he cuddled and purred with happiness. Best cabin greeter there ever was. Ziggy (the hosts dog) was also a great greeter at the fence gate when we arrived.

    Siarra2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the relaxing and quiet atmosphere at Jo's cabin. The hot tub was a nice touch that we definitely took advantage of. If you are looking for a get away from the busy every day life in the city this is the place to go!

    Kelsey2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stepping onto Josephines property you can immediately feel how special it is. She greeted us with warmth and gave us a tour and history of the property. She has everything you need to be comfortable for your stay. The sauna and hot tub are such a sweet treat, especially in the morning as the sun comes up. The property is large with plenty of well kept trails and places to relax, so be sure to explore. The property is also close to great beaches, highly recommend. Another added bonus is that you are allowed to bring your dog! Our dog loved her property even more than us - she woke up early explored every inch possible & loved Josephine’s pup, Ziggy. Very thankful that Josephine has opened up her space to guests. If you are looking for a relaxing time in the woods, this is it.

    Ryan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This sweet, cozy place is a gem. Tucked away into the most peaceful property. Josephine is a remarkable host. If you have the chance to stay here, take it!

    Jeremy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was definitely beautiful. She has so much land to explore and discover. Everything was very clean for mostly being outside, and inside was very homey and warm. The compost toilet was easy to use. The sauna was definitely awesome to use. The hot tub was nice, even being attached to Josephine’s deck instead of the one you’re staying at, but was definitely a treat to be in. Peaceful and very relaxing!

    Sophia2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place is as described. Nestled in the middle of the tall redwood, you truly could unwind. I'd label this has glamping with more glamour than camping. The sauna/shower/hottub combination was better than any hotel could offer. The location was remote and quiet surrounded by beautiful views, there was a fireplace to keep you warm and it was accompanied by a compost toilet (true camping style ). We weren't too familiar with using the fireplace or the compost toilet but josephine stopped by and gave us all the information we needed! Check in check out was smooth. Highly recommend!

It's a quiet dead end road. There are houses close by but people keep to themselves.
  • This place is gorgeous and cozy and just what I needed. I cannot wait to find an excuse to stay here.

    Joanna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome place to spend a week. The house itself is perfect and the location is ideal as both a getaway and a central location for exploring. We spent half our time driving up and down the coast (I would recommend the Crab Roll at Cafe Aquatica in Jenner for lunch and hiking the Kortum Trail at Goat Rock Park along the coast). The other half of our trip was in Napa visiting the wineries, which was just over an hour away. Armstrong National Park is nearby if you want to hike in the redwoods and Duncan Mills is just a few minutes away with a couple nice places to eat and a good bakery/coffee shop. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. It’s a perfect vacation spot.

  • Quiet, clean, and stylish location. Lots of natural light and so nice to see the forest out the window. Visited Armstrong national forest and Sonoma coast state park, both 15 minutes away. No complaints, stay was perfect!

Charming cabin right on the Creek: Have a dog? Please let us know! 2-bedrooms plus a loft (you have to climb a ladder to the loft), wood burning stove & windows everywhere! Well-equipped kitchen, TV, and trees all around. Huge deck overlooking the Creek: sit, sip, listen, relax - large table for alfresco dining. Nightly rates $95 to $300 depending on the dates. 12% Sonoma County Occupancy Tax will be added by AirBnB and remitted to the County.
Creekside pricing is for four guests. Each additional guest, up to seven total, is $25 per person each day. DOGS: We gladly consider accepting well-behaved dogs at Creekside. We ask for an additional cleaning fee of $50 per stay when dogs visit. Here are the house rules for dogs: no matter how tidy, dogs make for more work for our housekeeper so we pay her more when there's a dog staying with us. NOTE: there is a $75 ADDITIONAL pet cleaning fee if any of the following dog rules are not fully followed: 1. ***DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE OR ON/IN THE BEDS*** This is the biggest challenge we have and we don't have any exceptions to this rule. 2. if your dog barks when left alone, then do not leave the dog alone at the cabin. we have neighbors who can hear the barking and they sure let us know when they hear barking. 3. if your dog is totally chill when being left alone and does NOT bark, you must still always leave in his/her crate if you go out. 4. there are doggie gates on the deck so that you can secure the two deck staircases; then your dog may walk freely on the deck. 5. always pick-up after your dog and throw away the poop bags directly into the trash bin outside. even if the dog poops out-of-the-way, it must be picked up. 6. at the end of your stay, please thoroughly sweep the entire cabin with the broom & dustpan kept in the laundry room. please then dispose of all the fur/hair, etc. in the trash bin outside. thank you for helping to make it possible for us to continue hosting dogs up at Creekside. please remember, and so that there are no misunderstandings or surprises, if our housekeeper finds that all the fur is not swept up or if there is any fur on the beds or furniture, we will apply the ADDITIONAL $75 pet cleaning fee. I hate to be so blunt, but we have been having some real challenges with some guests ignoring the dog house rules. thank you for your understanding. Creekside has a wonderful open floor plan with the living room, dining area, and kitchen in a large L-shape; 832 sq. ft. total. There are doors and windows EVERYWHERE. You can head out to the deck from either the kitchen or the dining room. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full size bed, plus a loft above the living room that has a full size bed (you can see the ladder to the loft in the pictures; (PLEASE NOTE THAT IT ISN'T EASY FOR EVERYONE TO CLIMB THE LADDER TO THE LOFT). WE ARE ON A DELICATE SEPTIC SYSTEM. PLEASE READ THE INFO ON THE SYSTEM IN THE HOUSE INFO BOOK ON THE DESK IN THE LIVING ROOM. Dutch Bill Creek is a stone's throw away from the deck; you can hear the creek running from the bedrooms. The creek is seasonal, and, depending on the rainfall, goes dry from around June to October. There is a 40" HD television and we have cable-tv which includes ON-Demand programming as well as streaming Netflix, Spotify, and more. Wherever possible, we use high-efficiency florescent lights. These lights sometimes take a moment to illuminate. We do have back-up light bulbs on the top shelf of the closet in the small bedroom.
We are right on Dutch Bill Creek, a tributary of the famed Russian River. World Class Russian River Valley Wineries are within a short drive on Monte Rio, as are the towns of Occidental and Jenner, and the Pacific Coast. Monte Rio itself is a very quiet town four miles past Guerneville. There are a handful of shops and restaurants in Monte Rio, proper; including a movie theater in a barn - yes, a barn. Guerneville, just five minutes away, has plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, markets (including a 24-hour Safeway), banks, gas stations, and more. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is right there as well. At certain times, such a holidays, long weekends, or Russian River event weeks, there may be a longer minimum stay. We will certainly tell you the options available upon receiving your request.
  • Peter's place is just as nice as it looks in the listing. It's a fantastic place to stay in Sonoma county and is great for relaxing, with its wood burning stove and the creekside patio. Love the French doors looking out onto the patio too. The bed in the master bedroom was really comfortable and the bedding was really soft and high quality. Love the stylish and high quality decor. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking, and I appreciated having multiple options for making coffee (I like to use the pour over). Location is great since it's close to restaurants and wineries as well as the Armstrong Redwood Forest, which has great hiking trails. Can't recommend this place enough and hope to stay there again next time I'm in town.

  • Peter was a fabulous host! The cabin is located in the middle of the woods with lots of beautiful trees on the property. Beds were very comfortable - our family occupied all three. We especially appreciated the excellent kitchen set up, well stocked with basic seasoning/condiments and fully equipped with small appliances, pots and pans, and baking dishes- it was more than adequate for preparing full meals for a family. The place feels secluded -a major plus if you are looking for a retreat- but the location also couldn’t be beat for its proximity to local gems - there are endless possibilities for both quick outings and day trips. The coast is less than 30 minutes away. Well groomed hiking trails are even closer, and there are lots of great local eateries where you can take a break. All in all a wonderful, cozy place to spend a week or two!

    Julie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for seclusion and quiet and this place was wonderful! There is a neighbor right next door but I didn’t hear them once. The cabin is cozy and well-appointed. I like to cook for myself and the kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, utensils, a blender, a full-size fridge and gas range so I was very happy cooking here! Peter was caring and attentive and responded quickly to my questions. The sound of the creek right outside is pure heaven and the big glass window allow the light to pour in in the morning. I wanted to have a place to have personal work retreat surrounded my nature and the wifi worked great. I also was able to do some drawing on the deck. I took a walk up the road in the morning and it was so quiet in 45 minutes only one car passed me. The place feels clean and open and unfussy and at the same time cozy and comfortable in the chilly nights with wall heater, bedroom baseboard, the wood stove and all. Although the comforter is so warm and cozy no heat is needed in the chili nights. ( if you’re coming from another part of the country, please know that even if it’s a really hot day nighttime can be quite cool.) I appreciated the homey touches like a soft throw blanket on the couch and cloth napkins and placemats for the dining table. I hope to come back soon! Oh, yes and it was CLEAN - that’s a big deal to me!

    Michele2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful, peaceful, well appointed, and the perfect location.

    Sean2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, lovely spot that had everything we needed! Nestled within the redwoods but still bright with lots of windows. Loved seeing and hearing the rushing creek literally steps from the back door. Peter was immediately available when we needed help getting around a road closure on our way up. Would love to come back!

    Sue2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house was cozy, and also plenty spacious for four adults. Great location to get to hiking trails and vineyards. We will definitely return.

    Mark2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is incredibly clean and comfortable. It is simply decorated but has everything you might need. There are enormous windows in the main spaces of the house which let you enjoy the beauty of the trees and creek even when you're inside. The cabin is also really conveniently located -- just minutes from Guerneville, the coast, and incredible state parks.

  • This was the best Airbnb experience I’ve had in a long, long time! Our stay at Peter’s river cabin was fantastic. Just as important as being immaculately clean (which it was), the home is very well maintained. All furnishings were high quality and in good working condition. Tastefully decorated. Kitchen has modern appliances and was well equipped for cooking at home. Would you believe more than one SHARP chef knife?! We cooked our dinner there every night. Even a coffee grinder if you like to grind your own like we do. Large balcony overlooking the river. Nice place to sit outside and watch the occasional kayaker paddle by. Gas BBQ grill is in good condition and huge. Two extra propane tanks standing by as backups. It was little things like this that I was most impressed with. Wifi was great. No problems streaming music/movies. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. The hot tub was a nice bonus feature. Modern washer/dryer in the laundry room. Location was great for us. About a 15 minute drive to Goat Rock to see the seals. Another 10 minutes to Bodega Head to watch for migrating whales. About 15 minutes in the other direction to get to Armstrong Redwoods State Park. 10 minutes to Guerneville, which has the closest Safeway. In short, the place was perfect. I wish all my Airbnb stays could be this good. Thank you, Peter!

  • Stunning home with redwoods all around. Full kitchen with a gas stove and all the appliances and dishes - a real treat to get to cook well in an airbnb. A fireplace and a giant hot tub. Comfy beds we slept soundly. Even a laundry machine! We were stoked to be in such a cozy home so close to the coast.

    Jonas2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s place is beautiful. We loved the location and how nice everything is inside. Very cozy at night when it was cold outside. Peter was also helpful with suggestions for restaurants. Highly recommend.

  • We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Peter’s place. The home was extremely clean and beds were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the large hot tub. Definitely very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids. Communication with the host was easy and great!

  • Peter’s place is exactly as described - which is precisely what we all needed for a relaxation stay in a beautiful location, tucked away in the trees. Loved the the view while enjoying brunch on the deck, and the sight of the sky from the hot tub at night. Peter is very straight forward about husband expectations and what is provided as well.

  • The retreat in the woods is extremely relaxing. Shane and Craig were very friendly hosts and made themselves available if needed. The place is a little small, so I would stick to no more than 4 people during a stay.

    Joe2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Shane & Craig’s cabin and grounds have a magical quality to them. The sun room was one of my favorite parts- plenty of natural light, peaceful silence, and lots of stars to gaze at from the hot tub. We’ll definitely be back!

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Truly magical. Relax in the lounge chairs under the immense tree canopy and enjoy the bluebirds, hawks, and stars. The house is literally surrounded by trees with huge windows and skylights to enjoy from all sides. There was plenty of firewood left behind to light a fire to warm the house. The bathroom is spa-like overlooking the garden. Definitely recommend and will be back.

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is beautiful! The area is absolutely peaceful and great to enjoy the outdoors. The garden is really special and absolutely beautiful! Shane + Craig were great hosts - very responsive. Would love to come back some day!

This order below applies for all reservations before May 3rd. (but this may get extended) Current Shelter in Place Order in Sonoma County reads as follows. Short term rentals and hotels may only operate as an essential business if they: -provide shelter for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals, including individuals needing housing to ensure adequate social distancing -support housing necessary for an essential business to operate (i.e. housing traveling nurses).” This means that we can not host any tourism reservations or any guests who are looking to escape the city or looking for a change of scenery if they already have a place to shelter in place while the shelter in place order is still in effect. Located in the quiet and safe residential neighborhood of Graton. Graton is a small town filled with artists and environmentally minded people. We have very friendly neighbors. Some of our immediate neighbors are: metal sculpture artist, florist, pottery artist, textile artist and painter, photographer, animal activist, jewelry maker, montessori teacher, butterfly cultivator, art gallery manager, solar power business owner, shaman, backyard farmers and homesteaders, well you get the idea:)  Please note that the town of Graton is located in a rural setting, but the cottage itself is in a residential neighborhood with neighbors close by. Most of the time the neighborhood is very quiet and we live on a dead end street, but occasionally a neighbor may have a gathering during the day (extremely rare), or someone may be doing some construction or repair work on their house, kids may be playing, or someone may be doing landscaping, etc. In other words, there are direct close neighbors so if you are looking for a remote rural property that is silent with no neighbors this is not it.  Please be aware that we live in a rural area. You may hear crickets or even frogs at night. You may see squirrels jumping in trees next to the house. You may see wild turkeys, quail, deer, bats, hawks, or even an owl here and there either down on the nature trail or just walking down the street. You may see a beautiful red dragonfly drinking from the pool, ladybugs or even a spider or hummingbird on occasion in the backyard. In the spring, summer, or fall you may see some paper wasps (not aggressive unless they are attacked) or bees here and there on plants or flying around in the backyard and in the surrounding neighborhood. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone, we have never been stung the whole time we have lived here and a guest has never been stung either. If you are allergic though, you should stay elsewhere to be safe. We regularly check for paper wasp nests in the summer and get rid of them Immediately but if you are in this west county area you may still see some flying around here and there outside in the summer. They are a part of the natural environment here and serve a purpose, everyone we know in the area has some on their property and we have to learn to coexist with them to some extent in this natural environment. We hardly even notice them anymore, although we do go to great lengths to do everything we can to control them on our property but obviously we can never be totally in control of nature. You may see fake paper mache nests as a wasp deterrent or you may smell some slight peppermint or clove oil in an essential oil diffuser outside as a deterrent as well. If you are someone that needs a 100% controlled environment without any of these "nature" elements, then please find a different property that is more suitable to your needs. Also, please remember to look up and enjoy the stars at night, they are bigger and brighter here! The cottage is located in the heart of it all. Countless wineries / vineyards in the area to go wine tasting. Five minute walk to downtown Graton restaurants such as The Underwood, and Willowood. Five minute walk to the fabulous Bowman Cellars Wine Tasting Room which is three blocks away. Red Car and Dutton and many other great wineries are a quick five minute drive from the cottage. Five minute drive to the Barlow and the town of Sebastopol. Five minutes to Forestville. Ten minutes to Occidental.  Fifteen minute drive to Guerneville. Ten minutes to Russian River. 20 minute drive to the beach (Bodega Bay) 25 minutes to Healdsburg (take the back way, very pretty drive).
  • What a find! From the moment we walked in, until the time we left, we felt like we were on vacation at a little private oasis. We loved the open feeling, fresh white decor and greenery throughout the home and back yard. It felt so private and yet we were able to walk to dinner, and get to a trailhead in no time. We cannot wait to come back!

  • We've stayed in AirBnBs all over the world, and this is one of the most incredibly-styled and appropriately-detailed spaces we've ever stayed in. It was the perfect place to get away and rejuvenate.

    Tanner2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, great communication, thoughtful touches! Loved everything about our stay!

    Jack2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • WOW!! I’m pretty sure no other Airbnb will ever top this one. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Farmhouse Oasis for four nights and they were 4 of the best with amazing hosts. That attention to detail and all the extra special touches are what makes this B&B the best. It truly felt like we were staying at a luxury resort with the welcome gift, pillow bar, bathrobes, the essential oils and sprays, the tub and soaking salts, the coffee bar, etc etc. it was an experience that we will never forget and I can’t wait to return. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

    Amy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing space. We wanted a quiet get away and this was just perfect. Close to several restaurants and wineries but not too busy. Just loved all the details and the private backyard and pool was better than I expected. Worth every penny. I would definitely stay here again.

    Lance2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a special special place! From the minute you walk in you immediately feel the clean and relaxing energy. I absolutely loved the furnishing and design. There are so many amenities you can’t find at most Airbnb’s. We had our dog Milo with us and he felt right at home. We are so grateful to Trinette and Chris for all of their recommendations and communicating quickly throughout our stay. We will definitely be back hopefully sooner than later.

    Brandi2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Farmhouse Oasis From the minute you walk in the front door be prepared to be treated to a tranquil and relaxing environment . Trinette & Chris have really put a lot of love into their place and the attention to detail really makes this a special destination. Sparkling clean and full of light with a fully loaded kitchen complete with French press and freshly ground coffee or lovely organic teas to begin your day. The pool area is reminiscent of your own private Palm Springs resort and the master suite upstairs with claw foot tub and extremely comfortable bed rivals the best resort. Graton is so charming you don’t even need to get back in your car till you leave. There are wine tasting rooms, restaurants, cafes and hiking trails just a block or two away. If you do go further afield the house manual has great recommendations.

    Jennifer2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • While the pictures will likely sell you on the property, it actually surpasses them in real life. Trinette and Chris's place is obviously a well designed one, but their attention to the details is what takes it from a great home, to a special one. Our New Year's escape from the city was made memorable thanks to all that this home (and the region) has to offer, and the hospitality provided to us. Both inside and out, this home is a real gem.

Our Redwood Studio apartment is within easy walking distance to Guerneville's charming shops and great restaurants. You’ll love the the serenity of the trees, sounds of the chickens, and the quiet friendly neighborhood. It sits at the base of an old growth Redwood tree. There is no stove in the small kitchenette, it has microwave, toaster oven, french press, kettle. Attached to our home, the 300 sq ft apartment has a private entrance and deck. Armstrong Redwoods 2 miles Sonoma Coast 10 miles
We found this beautiful place in 1985 and have lived here ever since. Located just a few blocks from Main Street but on a hill above town, the property has ancient redwoods and the Redwood Studio apartment is a the base of our biggest and oldest tree, probably more than 500 years old. Although easy walking down to town it feels like a world away. Our large rambling house was built around 1890. The 300 sq ft Redwood Studio was a separate apartment that we have recently renovated. We have really enjoyed sharing our space with visitors to the area.
Our charming, friendly neighborhood has an old cemetery at the top of the hill. Guerneville is an interesting old town full of galleries and shops. My favorite is the Guerneville 5 & 10. Excellent restaurants such as Boon and Seaside Metal. The treasured but long closed Bank building has been beautifully renovated and now houses an ice cream and pie shop and wine tasting room. You can walk to the river for fishing and in the summer for a swim. Two miles from the Studio is Armstrong Redwoods with gentle strolls or challenging hikes. The Russian River Valley holds many wineries for touring and the Sonoma Coast is just a beautiful drive along the river to the ocean.
  • The space was clean and comfy, and so perfectly located! We could walk into town no problem. The space was as described, and even without a full kitchen we managed to make ourselves some nice little meals with the microwave and toaster oven. We were mostly staying in and the blackout curtains were especially appreciated since we both work nights usually so we sleep late. Between that and the comfy bed we had some of the most restful nights' sleep we'd had in ages. Kathleen was also helpful with local tips and we had a nice day hike in the nearby regional park and a great little walk to the local cemetery. Hope to make it back one day soon!

    Karina2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage on a hill just above the main drag in Guernevile. Super quiet escape and cozy escape - the kitchen has all that you'd need for a weekend away and the morning sunshine and sound of faint windchimes was magical. Kathleen was very welcoming. Great spot!

    Joseph2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s spot is a perfect location within walking distance to downtown’s restaurants, bars, and wine tasting rooms.

    Daniella2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous redwoods in a forest setting type yard with strings of lights make for a magical feeling at night.

    Bob2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We came to Guerneville to visit our daughter and her new baby (our grandchild). We needed affordable appropriate accommodations and Kathleen's Redwood Studio was the exact fit for our special needs at this time. It is perfect for a couple who does not require elaborate kitchen facilities.

    Radha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really swell with communication. Nice place. Great location.

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

Lower level of a lovely, two story home on the Russian River one mile from the charming town of Guerneville. The large room, recently remodeled, has its own private entrance with an attached, private bathroom with shower and tub. It has a picturesque, private deck with spectacular views of the Russian River, redwoods, vineyards, and surrounding mountain. Right on the river, it is ideal for picnics, exploring, lounging, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, meditating . . .
The deck has steps leading down to a shared courtyard and to an expansive private, sandy beach shared with just a few other houses right on the river. Serene, the space is unique and perfect for those seeking the relaxing, invigorating, simple pleasures of nature surrounded by abundant wildlife and beauty.
Small private-like neighborhood where most residents know each other. It is quiet and very safe.
  • Tony's place is fantastic! Highly recommend. Must admit, as a first-timer in the Airbnb world, we weren't sure what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. Had a great stay, and would definitely book again in the future.

Located on a country road in "El Bonita," between Rio Nido and downtown Guerneville, Hillside Lodge was once a "summer only" home in a row of parcels known as "Riverside Terrace." The house is nestled on a wooded lot and is now lovingly restored, insulated, and comfortable all year long. It is conveniently located near River Road, the main thoroughfare leading into town. Neighbors are quiet and the atmosphere inside and outside of Hillside Lodge is relaxing.
  • A spacious, spotless, and nicely decorated home. We spent one week visiting various wineries and attractions, and enjoyed returning to this comfortable space very evening.

    Stephen2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hillside Lodge. 4 of us were very comfortable in this great little place tucked away in the woods of Guerneville. The place has all the necessities for a wonderful stay.....well appointed kitchen with complementary coffee, nice clean gas BBQ, comfortable great room, comfortable beds, and the list goes on. I give this place my highest recommendations.

    Clay2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy spot, almost a tree house feel since the view is tree filled. Close to downtown, Armstrong woods and about 25 min or so to the beaches (the drive is beautiful). On top of that the most well stocked, thoughtful kitchen I’ve seen in a Airbnb! Allan responded right away to any questions I had and was kind. Highly recommended, I am sure we will be back again.

    Alicia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place to stay in Russian River area. Minutes from everything in Guerneville and the River. Loads of fabulous vineyards within easy driving distance of house. The house is VERY well appointed and furnished and supplied with everything anyone would need for a comfortable stay. Kitchen is terrific. Communication with owner was always fast and helpful. We could not have found a more awesome place for 3 and a baby to stay.

    Jill2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • HIllside Lodge is a sweet vintage cottage nestled in the trees! It was very clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, perfectly laid out. There is a spacious deck with grill; because it was cold/raining during our January visit, we never went out to sit there. Cell service is almost non-existent in the area, so make your plans ahead of time, or use the internet at Allen's HL. Very highly recommended!

    Ann2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Allan's place for two nights. The house was quiet, warm and inviting and had everything we needed to make our stay relaxing. We enjoyed cooking in the roomy and fully stocked kitchen and reading in the cozy living room, not to mention the super comfortable bed. We will be back but would like to stay longer next time. Thank you Allan for the personal touch you left at our arrival. Added bonus for us was the flexible cancellation policy and the safety and emergency preparedness features in the house. Thanks!

  • Loved staying at this Airbnb. Everything is as shown in the pictures, beautifully decorated with all the amenities you could need. From checkin to checkout the entire process was smooth and easy. It’s also in a gorgeous and peaceful location. Loved being able to wake up and drink coffee on the beautiful deck. I wish I could have spent more time here and will definitely come back!

  • Olive House is a lovely place. Exactly as described, beautiful setting, easy parking, and great location. The two bedroom setup is perfect for 2-4 people. I would definitely stay again.

    Andrew2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the Olive House and our host was always prompt with directions. It is roomy, the kitchen well-stocked for cooking, cozy linens and towels, helpful maps and books of the area, and a great deck and yard for our kid and dog. The neighborhood is fun for exploring and it's close to the beach and redwoods. We went to places Sonia recommended where we could bring our dog. It was a stormy weekend but the stove was warm and the house has plenty of light. Will return!

  • We had such a lovely time at this home. My fiancé and I wanted to stay in Guerneville to celebrate our 5 year(s of dating) anniversary. Arriving and getting in to the house was super easy. Our host checked in to see if we would be getting there after dark and offered to leave the lights on for us. The home is quaint and bright and has a nice deck that we spent a lot of time on. Truly a 5 minute walk to downtown Guerneville which we took advantage of every day. All together a really nice place to stay for our anniversary. Bonus points for being dog friendly and for having a piano 🥰

  • Great place, lovely outdoor area, very clean, great kitchen appliances. Only downside is hearing a bit of street noise and a little close to the next door neighbors.

    Simone2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice place to stay if you are looking for a little getaway. The host was accommodating, friendly, and quick to respond. The only complaint I had was that the hot tub water could have been cleaner.

  • Wonderful place built into the side of a hill amidst the redwoods. Comfortable beds & bedding, great well-equipped kitchen, nice open concept. Fantastic back deck and hot tub. No TVs a big bonus. Took a bit of reorganization to have room for our food/supplies in the kitchen, but otherwise a nice layout, compact and yet still with privacy for 3 bedrooms. Would definitely stay again.

Just over an hour from San Francisco is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. Meandering into the small village of Rio Nido under the tall redwoods is a delight as you enter this Cabin in the Trees. Features two bedrooms one bath and large living room for entertaining.
Nestled right in the Redwoods, the Tree House is gently perched in the trees overlooking the canyon below. As you gaze out the windows it feels as if your perched right in the canopy of the forest. The Tree House has two bedrooms with comfy queen beds and luxurious linens. Originally built in the 1920's this cabin has been updated and decorated with eclectic comfortable furnishings. Still maintaining it's rustic cabin charm the decks are amazing and a beautiful place to eat, drink and enjoy the tranquility of the Redwoods. There is a full kitchen with most everything you'll need to prepare basic meals and a dishwasher for cleanup. The Tree House is self catering so please bring your own food and spices. There is a Safeway grocery store in Guerneville just two miles down the road. We have a gas fireplace in the spacious open living room and in the fall and winter we do our best to have it on, warm and cozy for your arrival.
Rio Nido is a 1920's era Vacation area for residents of the San Francisco area with lots of history. From the ancient redwoods that surround the area to the pee-wee golf course and the Roadhouse where you can take a swim and grab a bite to eat, this is the perfect location. Located just minutes from the fun and casual resort town of Guerneville on the banks of the Russian River. It is an extremely popular spot to come and kayak, canoe, swim and fish in the Russian River. Within five minutes you are at Armstrong Woods State Park, which is home to an old growth redwood forest, picnic area, and miles of spectacular hiking. To the west you pass through the towns of Monte Rio and Duncan's Mill on the way to Jenner and the Pacific Coast. To the east is Korbel Champange Cellars and over 100 boutique and well-known wineries including Kendall-Jackson and Ferrari-Carrano. An afternoon's drive can easily take you to Napa County and Guerneville is only about an hour plus to San Francisco. Great food, great wine, natural beauty and unlimited outdoor activities- this is why we make Guerneville and the Russian River area our home.
  • This is a beautiful and magical place, highly recommended.

  • We had a great stay. The place is quite a magical setting close to wineries and just a small walk to the river. The place was warm cozy and eclectic. Previous reviews mentioned there not being enough cooking supplies so we ended up bringing some of our own and ended up not needing it. Everything was there and the place was kindly warmed up before we arrived. Everything was easy to find, clean.

    Serena2019-12-01T00:00:00Z

You'll see by the reviews that this is a little magical slice of heaven. We try very hard to keep our 5 STAR rating and you'll see why.
This cabin was transformed in 2011 into a cozy get-away situated in the heart of Guerneville, just and hour and a half North of San Francisco. There are 40 steps to the first level. The first level offers a bedroom with its own private bathroom and walk out onto the main deck. The main deck has a fire pit (duraflame only) and Adirondack chairs for those warm evenings along with a grill for BBQ. The main floor has a living room, two bedrooms and the main bathroom. We have wifi access, Apple TV and a DVD player. There is a redbox in town that you can rent movies or you can use our Apple TV account with 80 purchased movies, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Videos. The house is heated with a beautiful gas fireplace that is thermostat controlled. The main floor also has a full kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and microwave. There are two bedrooms with generous under-bed storage compartments and cooling from ceiling fans. There are three additional decks, all completely private above street level. The mid-tier deck has an six person hot-tub, surrounded by redwood trees. The upper deck, above the cabin has an eight person outdoor table ready to accommodate an intimate few or larger party. The top deck has a view platform with Adirondack chairs for quiet reading. Access to the Russian River is just a short walk (less than two blocks) from the cabin. This is a beautiful little cabin in the redwoods with a nice mix of sun coming through the trees. Luxury and nature mixed.
This is a very quiet residential neighborhood. The house is on a double lot with over 100 redwood trees on it. It's like living in a treehouse. Very quiet at night and a great place to relax. Public river access is only 5 minutes away.
  • Excellent stay, highly recommend. The hot tub is great and rooms are nice and equal so no one feels like they get the bad option. The common space is cozy, plenty of room for 4 of us, but likely tight with more. The kitchen was well equipped with basic supplies

    Lecia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great relaxing weekend! Yes, there are 40 steps but once we get to the top it is worth it! It was really nice to have a fire pit, bbq grill, hot tub, and picnic table all on different levels of the deck! The place had everything you needed, you could tell Michael really thought everything through on what visitors need for a comfortable stay.

    Stephen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place basically has everything, you could spend your entire time at the cabin and not need to go out

    Carl2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place has everything you need to get away and recharge. Comfy beds, fireplace, fire pit and a great hot tub. Would definitely recommend!

  • Very nice and quiet place to stay. Everything went great. Gladly again

    Nina2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short, but wonderful stay in the cabin. If you’re hesitant about the 40+ stairs, they really aren’t so bad. We just planned in advance and packed what we needed in a backpack, rather than bring in our entire suitcase. The property is beautiful and quiet and the hot tub was fabulous after a day of hiking. I do recommend arriving in the daylight as the road in is a bit narrow and dark. I would recommend this place without hesitation!

    Jennifer2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Parking - for two cars, but a third could fit down the street not to far away. Michael gave good instructions. Checking in- had some trouble with the lock but host picked up right away and made it his top priority. Felt very taken care of. Stairs- yes there are a some stairs to the entrance, but our group loved it. It got us moving as we breathed in the clean fresh air. House- super cozy cabin! It feels small at first, but that’s the nature of a cabin! It’s got three rooms, comfy beds, and the third room is on the second deck with an outdoor entrance. It has low ceilings but it’s got its own bathroom and is very cute. Even in this rainy December weekend, we didn’t mind. The fireplace does heat up the entire cabin very quickly, and was even hot at times. It’s very easy to control, and fun to gather around. We made use of the grill outdoors even with the rain. We made great use of the kitchen, making bacon, eggs, soup, green beans, and the like! Even heated up a pie in the oven. The six of us loved bonding in the cabin, playing games around the cool coffee table. There were plenty of towels for the 6 of us. We made use of the washer and dryer because we got rained on pretty frequently. Outside- the backyard is just gorgeous. Redwood trees everywhere, and lots of areas for us to climb around as we explored in the light rain. We originally wanted to go into Armstrong, but it was too rainy for that, so the backyard area fulfilled our wishes! For a small cabin, it felt like there were so many things to do. It’s not far from town, and a brief walk to the river for a stroll. There’s a safeway in town for groceries and a Starbucks there too. Really fun getaway!

  • Lee's place was exactly what I needed for a mini getaway for myself and my dog. It was cozy, comfortable, clean and quiet. Lee was a great host - friendly & easy going. I hope to be back & would recommend others to stay at his cabin.

    Sandra2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy rustic spot. I think three would be a squeeze, so it's perfect for couples. Gets really cold when it's cold out, but Leeincluded heaters and a heated blanket to offset that. It's not too far from certain local spots either, which is really nice. We spoke with Lee once and he seems like a nice person; he's definitely a very mindful host. I wish I could have met his dog! This is a space we'd stay at again.

    Danette2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect one-night stopover with Lee; the place is an adorable, rustic and cozy cabin with a great location for exploring the Russian River area. Lee was really easy to communicate with and gave us some helpful suggestions for places to check out in the area. The cabin is behind the main house in a lovely backyard with a nice patio; it's a nice private little cottage. Parking was extremely easy on the road out front. (I'll just note that it's definitely easier to navigate here in daylight, since it's a nice quiet area with full tree coverage , but we found everything very easily). Thanks Lee!

    Abby2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Lee's rustic cabin while in town for work, so I did not get a chance to see him as I was out by 7 and back late. He was always very quick to respond to all messages. Location is great to head up to Armstrong woods! Next time I hope it's warmer so I can check out the nearby beach on Russian River.

  • We had an incredible stay. The house is nestled in the redwoods, and the ample windows and skylights made it feel as though we were staying in a treehouse. The outside spaces are lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed to make delicious meals. The location is perfect for exploring wineries.

  • Large very clean house that feels brand new. Giant kitchen, everything well labeled. Easy check in and check out. Nice heat/AC units. We stayed here for two weeks and had everything we needed.

  • Beautiful property in a beautiful setting, with luxurious amenities. Could not have asked for more!

    Peter2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • I came here with my family which included a toddler and a tiny dog. The place was automatically welcoming for both my kid and dog. There were age appropriate books and toys available for my kiddo to select from. She was entertained the whole time! Also my dog found a tiny bed waiting for her as well as a good and water bowl. I’ve never been to an air bnb that has this kind of hospitality for dogs before. The space is modern and clean (relative to other air bnbs that allow dogs). I loved it. It is also secluded from any noise besides nature. There are skylights which are beautiful. The open space is plenty and it is suitable for a family home base when on vacation. The kitchen is decently stocked for those of you who plan to cook often. There were some issues with cleanliness in terms of dust but we fixed that the first day we got there. Beds were A+ comfy, especially if you like firm beds. I would come back in a heartbeat! With my family and pets!

Come and relax on the Lower Russian River! We are nestled in a beautiful, quiet canyon only five minutes from the Russian River and town of Guerneville, two minutes from the old growth redwoods of Armstrong Woods, and thirty minutes from the coast. Whether you are here to enjoy hiking, biking, river sports, wine tasting, the beach, or the food and fun in Guerneville, Sweetwater Cottage is the ideal vacation home base.
Sweetwater Cottage is detached from the main house, with a beautiful view of the woods and meadow that is our back yard. It includes a microwave and mini fridge for storing and heating your leftovers from the wonderful brewpubs in the area, as well as a complete setup for coffee and tea in the morning. There is a half bath in the cottage itself, and guests will have access to the shower in the main house at all times. Our beautiful location does come at a small cost: our internet is not very fast (one could say "on river time"!) and some phone carriers get spotty reception. It is better in the main house and you are welcome to come in if you have important emails or work to do, but hopefully you are here to disconnect anyway :). We have two dogs, and the big one would LOVE to meet you, but if you are scared of dogs or would like to limit your interaction with her, just let us know. Our small dog does not like strangers and we would be thrilled if you would refrain from trying to interact with her. Dogs deserve the right of consent too! We do not discriminate based on religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity or presentation. All are welcome!
The lower Russian River has been a vacation destination for the inner Bay Area for over a hundred years. Guerneville in particular has had the honor of being the preferred vacation spot for the gay community of San Francisco for decades, and still has a thriving LGBTQ+ community. This is exemplified in the legendary gay bar, The Rainbow Cattle Company. For those that enjoy the outdoors, you couldn't be in a better spot. Hiking, biking, river sports, and the beach are all here. We are avid hikers and would be more than happy to point you towards our favorite spots. Sweetwater Springs Road, connecting Guerneville to the Healdsburg side of the hills via some of Sonoma County's best scenery, is a favorite destination for cyclists. This is, of course, wine country, and there are countless wineries to visit. We are in the Russian River Vally appellation, and from here you can head over to Healdsburg, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, Green Valley, Bennett Valley, and more. We have provided a selection of coupons for 2 for 1 tastings/complementary tastings for a variety of wineries in the area which we hope you will enjoy.
  • We had a wonderful time staying here! The hosts were communicative and the space was beautiful, cozy, warm, and full of personal details.

  • We loved staying at Brendan and Imogen’s cottage. The space was so beautiful and well decorated. It was a luxurious experience and we especially enjoyed the Chemex coffee maker and tea varieties. The location is divine and so peaceful.

  • Loved it! Would go back in a heartbeat. Was sad to only have one night, I could have relaxed there indefinitely

  • Great. Thank you.

    Phil2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cutest coziest tiny cottage! Brendan was an awesome host and communicated great throughout my stay. The cottage was very clean and had all you basic needs, minus a shower, which you can find inside. It was a very pleasant and quaint stay. Quiet and peaceful- just what I had hoped for! I actually ended up staying another night. 10 out of 10 would recommend for a simple peaceful and cozy stay

  • Such a nice spot to stay. Easy access to town of Gruenville with lots of great food choices & great bar, El Barrio, suggested by Brendan. Convenient to Healdsburg & many wineries. I was fine showering in the host’s home but my hubby wasn’t. Lots of nice touches & very accommodating.

Most homes in the Russian River area are located in rural neighborhoods, home to a colorful, eclectic population of both full-time and vacation home residents. There are neighbors, but they're usually not too close, and you can expect the kinds of activities typical of any neighborhood. There are a range of dwelling types, and you might rub elbows with a 5th generation River resident, a Silicon Valley scion, and a Generation of Love retiree on the same block. The Russian River is a vacation destination year round, and most homes are built on roads running parallel to the River or Creek with mountains close on both sides, so there are varying degrees of noise from the roads, the River, residents and other visitors. Many roads are narrow (some may even wend and wind a bit), without much street lighting, so it's best to arrive in the daylight, if possible, and please download and use our directions. GPS, online mapping and cell service are not reliable in this area. If you have any questions about the general access to or neighborhood surrounding this home, please contact us.
  • Cabernet Cottage made for a delightful stay in Guerneville. The house was cozy and charming, and River Getaways provided a comprehensive binder of information about the house and the surrounding area that helped us settle right in as if we knew the place. We were especially impressed by the kitchen amenities which included a blender, food processor, and lots of pots and pans. We were able to cook anything we wanted... key word being wanted what with the delicious food options only five minutes away in town. Some highlights of our stay were making fires in the wood stove, enjoying the hot tub on the deck during sunset, and fun hikes nearby at Armstrong Redwood Reserve. Definitely worth a visit regardless of time of year- we went in early March, and would love to come back in the summer.

  • Great value. Small, but very comfortable space with great view. Liked the outside bedroom. It’s fine for two or three adults, two couples would be the absolute max. I’ll rent the space again,

  • Had a wonderful stay at the Cabernet Cottage. Peaceful, rustic, comfortable - no problems whatsoever. I would definitely return in the future.

    Alex2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place sure grew on us the longer we stayed. When we first walked in we were a little taken aback by its age and the irregular floor, but this cozy cabin went straight to our hearts as we sat in the hot tub and watched the birds swoop down on the river and as we fell asleep in deep cozy darkness on the lofty queen bed in the extra bedroom. The view, the private beach and the claw-foot tub got to our hearts!

    Nicole2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cabin on stilts right on the south bank of the River. Others have noted that it is "well-loved" and I'll go with that. The cabin is neither modern nor updated building-wise, but it is pack with conveniences. The wood-burning stove pumps out heat so efficiently that we opened the deck door from time to time. Both televisions are hooked up to cable, and the wi-fi is excellent throughout the cabin. The kitchen has all of the pots, pan, bowls and utensils that you could need, plus garbage disposal and dishwasher. There are more than enough linens, many games, laundry units, and more, plus doggy clean-up bags and a welcome bottle of wine. It's very near downtown Guerneville but feels very private and the view of the river is great, framed by lovely redwoods on both sides.

    Ron2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice and cozy house for 4 people - the satellite room is close to the house but difficult to use during the middle of the night as all the doors lock from the outside so you can be stuck. The location is amazing and the hosts were really nice.

    Pegah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great lil get a way cabin the only thing we weren’t expecting was that the second room is detached and located completely separate of the house . But not a huge deal everything worked and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary cooking tools

    Crystal2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time. :) Really cozy cabin with a lovely view of the river.

  • We had such a magnificent time here! The space was quaint and very private. Stunning views off the balcony morning and evening! The local tips and many tourist brochures were fun to look through and get ideas! Such a fun location too, off the beaten path but still very close to the town. Great location to explore all of Sonoma and along the coast! The shower is a bit small, I had a hard time maneuvering in the tight space and I'm only 5'4", I felt bad for my boyfriend who is 6'2".

  • This house was amazing. It was peaceful and relaxing. It was close to town and it was a short drive to beaches. The driveway was narrow and steep but our full sized trucks made it up no problem. We would definitely rent this home again. Great family experience.

    Elizabeth2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay! The road to the home is steep and windy, but our cars made it up no problem. Plus the view at the top is well worth it. The home is stunning and charming, felt like a cozy family home. Bring toiletries and food, since they don’t have much stocked. There’s a Safeway 4 mins away so it’s easy to get provisions. We went to the river 2 of the days and it was an easy 15-20 min drive to the beaches. Definitely recommend staying here for the hot tub alone.

Curl up with a good book in one of the velvet chairs; tuck in early and choose from a selection of Netflix, Hulu or Amazon flicks; relax under the Redwoods beneath a string of glittering lights; BBQ on the new Weber charcoal grill and dine al fresco at a shaded picnic table; treat yourself to complimentary s'mores fixin's at the ready-to-go fire pit. **Please note that outdoor areas are weather-permitting, as the rainy season (generally between late October - April) makes for a very wet yard situation.** Beach towels, beach blankets, extra linens and a retro table fan are provided. We also have a twin-size luxury raised air mattress available in the suite.
We are a five minute drive from Guerneville's Main Street where you can experience fine dining at Boon or Brot, score a piece of Chile Pie or ice cream cone at Nimble & Finn's, or indulge in shopping therapy at Jam Jar, Gypsy Sisters, Rio Rio and more! Or drive five minutes East for a visit to Korbel's Champagne Cellars. A multitude of Sonoma wineries are within a 20 mile radius.
  • Fox’s Den is very cozy and comfortable which is also super clean! Perfect place to relax and rejuvenate!

  • This was a great, peaceful stay! We would definitely return to experience the peace and wonderful amenities of Louise and Edwin’s place. There are hiking trails, downtown Guerneville, and amazing bakeries/restaurants just a quick drive away. We really appreciated all the thoughtful touches and local tips. Great haven away from busy SF life!

    Olga2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Fox's Den was fantastic. It was everything as described, and more. Very clean, thoughtfully decorated, cozy and warm. We would absolutely stay here again!

  • We had an amazing weekend in Guerneville! Even though it rained the entire time, we were so happy to have a cozy and beautiful space to relax in. Everything was very straightforward and every detail was perfect. It’s so refreshing to stay at an Airbnb where the owners are so clearly proud of their space and try and make it an all-around wonderful experience. We would definitely stay again when we come back to Russian River.

    Danielle2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy, comfortable! Great location. Easy check in/out, great attention to detail. Lovely suite and nice fire & s'mores!

    Erin2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Fox’s Den is exactly what my husband and I needed for our first getaway from the kids. The space was clean, super cute, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Lou and her family were gracious hosts and very responsive to any communication.

    Jen2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Fox’s Den is a charming, cozy and comfortable space. Louise and Edwin have thought of all the touches, right down to s’mores and an outdoor fire pit. You will not be disappointed by your stay here!

    Jennifer2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Fox''s' Den is a very cute, extremely clean, and well-appointed cottage with lots of light and great windows that is close and convenient to everything in Guerneville including an awesome state park. It is also convenient to Jenner, which is a great little coastal town. Louise was an extremely gracious host who responded quickly and graciously to every communication. Check in and check out were seamless. The only cons for our visit were that the only sink was the bathroom sink (which made plate and glass cleaning a bit awkward) and that the driveway was too steep for our car's old and tired transmission. But parking was still available right across the street.

This is a quiet neighborhood with many full time residents. The quaint and quirky town of Guerneville is a 10-15 minute walk from our home and features great restaurants and shops. and the Farmhand Restaurant/Deli and Russian River Pub are also within walking distance (the opposite direction from town). Armstrong Woods is only 10 minutes away by car and Northwoods Golf Course is a 10 minute drive. And of course, we're in close proximity to hundreds of world-class wineries.
  • Visited with 7 friends. Very nice house by the river. Awesome views, quite spacious, fully equipped, very clean. We would definitely visit again!

  • Beautiful quiet location on the Russian River. Lots of light, cozy living quarters, comfy beds, well-stocked kitchen, nice bbq grille and plenty of hotwater for showers (we were a group of six, 4 adults and two teens). Minutes from downtown Guernville, markets, restaurants, and the Armstrong Redwoods (must see). Also 15-20 minute drive from the spectacular Sonoma Coast, Goats Rock Beach, Bodega Bay, wine country and the Bohemian Highway. Check-in was simple and communications with host were easy and responsive. Definitely will recommend Cynthia and Bill's cabin to family and friends wanting to visit the Russian River Valley.

Deep forest, **extremely quiet**, small Hot tub tucked into the forest, Koi pond, water sounds, romantic and cozy yet so very private. The Russian River is a short drive, walk or hike down the hill.
Tucked away on a hill top, quiet, a place to come to to relax. The back yard is natures paradise with a small trail to Koi pond and a small hot tub to enjoy.
Monte Vista Terrace is a small country road, one lane road, in order to enjoy such a remote property, the road is the sacrifice to get here. safe for walks and hikes. All of the neighbors are friendly and helpful.
  • Such a beautiful, quiet, private place. Kenneth was quick to respond each time i contacted him. The bed was super comfy. The room was warm and cozy. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days and loved every minute of it. We enjoyed the firepit and the soft tub. The property is soo beautiful and tucked away in the forrest. We even had a grey cat come and cozy up w us several times. We loved it and would love to return again another time. Perfect anniversary trip.

    Jamie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ken is the best host you can ask for. There is an amazing hike within walking distance of the stay. The hot tub is kept very hot and feels great during the night. You get your own patio. The ceilings are low, but the place feels so comfortably and cozy. You will be very pleased if you stay here. Will be coming back.

    Brent2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth's place was very cozy and inviting. There was a bottle of wine waiting when you enter and it was very clean. He was communicative, there was reserved parking, and we felt welcome. The hot tub was great and the fluffy cat that visited was a bonus. It's the perfect retreat with a host that's thought of everything you'll need!

    Marissa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best place if you want to getaway and get some peace and quiet and enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature. It’s a cute cozy place to relax. Our host was very welcoming and super quick to reply to our questions. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back in the future!

    Bricia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth’s place is truly wonderful. Nestled in the trees, quiet, cute and well appointed. Everything you need is available in the apartment including multiple towels, robes and cooking utensils. You can wake up and watch the sunrise from bed and it’s wonderful. The walk down to the hot tub is lovely and siting amongst the trees while soaking is truly amazing. Kenneth himself is the consummate host. It was our short honeymoon and we arrived to a some food treats and a cake to celebrate. He was kind, available and just really lovely. The only thing to be careful with is that the ceiling is low.. if you are over 6foot you can’t stand! When we mistakenly hit our hand on the ceiling Kenneth came right down thinking we had called him up...that’s how nice he is! Extra bonus there is a cool cat who just loves hanging out!

    Magali & Fred2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place. It is nested in the woods and has the most amazing setting to wind down. Host was great. He offered many amenities that made our experience even better. Would definitely recommend this place.

    Dev2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great host. Exactly the place you need to go if you need time to rejuvenate and relax. Will definitely be going back. Thank you!

    Ashley2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Henhouse is a wonderful retreat! We've stayed in AirBNBs all over the world, and this is one of our favorites, and luckily close to home. We'll definintely be back. Not only is the space gorgeous and cozy (love the hot-tub and grill on the deck), but the host, Kenneth, provides all kinds of charming touches: we had a bottle of wine waiting for us, a fridge stocked with eggs and other breakfast items, and robes and slippers for the hot tube. The property is surrounded by beautiful redwoods, and the Terraces section of Monte Rio is a wonderful spot for a morning walk or job. The bed was extremely comfortable. And the inverted-rooster wine rack, in the kitched, is the most delightful object I've seen in a year ;) Excellent communication and hospitality, in a beautiful, relaxing setting.

1910 river cabin loaded with character of yesteryear, updated and stylized with designer touches. Build a fire & cozy-up indoors next to the glow of wood burning stoves. Deer trail river access directly across the road. Let your cares melt away as you soak in the hottub gazing over winding riverviews. Enjoy the privacy of no neighbors or noise complaints to worry about. 5 min from downtown Guerneville, shopping & restaurants. Less then 15 min to the ocean.
Majestic redwood setting with expansive decks overlooking the big north bend of the Russian river. Paths down the river bank just across the road for fishing, boating, and other river fun. Right above river road- significant noise from passing cars during the day. The Russian river area has so much to offer.
5 min to Downtown Guerneville Across the street from the River
  • Adorable place!! Just like the other reviews say: it’s freezing cold when you walk in; but, find the heaters in the first bed room closets and plug them in. They heat up the cozy place! The decor was cute and the place was perfect! A great getaway and the amenities were perfect! We enjoyed using the antique glasses as we sipped champagne and drank wine during this crazy #COVID time.

    Sabrina2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up from the ocean you’ll enter a thick shadowy forest that hugs the Russian river as it winds up towards wine country. Fern Gully is nestled along this wild country road, set into the hill and overlooking the river through the towering pines. It’s essentially a cabin — two wood stoves are the primary heating source, along with some supplemental space heaters. The flannel robes and extra blankets will keep you cozy, and the well stocked kitchen had everything we needed to grill and cook good meals. Tip: bring olive oil. The space is well designed and very clean, and after getting fires going, it became our little haven for 48 hours. Activities: wine, cooking and playing scrabble. The deck space is dynamic, and the hot tube was perfect after a day of hiking in the Redwoods, especially on the cool, wet March nights we were there. The only downside was the road noise. And it takes some time to get the place warmed up, so be prepared for a chilly introduction. On the other hand it’s dog friendly. Which is always a plus for me!

    James2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a hidden gem. A beautiful little home tucked away in Guerneville. It gets a little chilly in the home, but that’s to be expected, as it’s located right next to the river. And it’s very shaded. But firewood is provided for the fireplace, and extra blankets. I would definitely recommend this lovely little home.

    Meghna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little cottage in the forest. Truly feels like a magical getaway. There is a bit of road nose during the day but we did not find it bothersome. There are so many unique and thoughtful touches to this place that make it feel really special. We really enjoyed our stay here and would come back again!

But you'll also be able to take a very short walk to all the bars, restaurants, and wine tasting in downtown Guerneville.

  • Our group of 7 had a wonderful experience at Blake & Santiago's. The location was perfect for partaking in the Wine Road Barrel Tasting weekend, and I couldn't imagine a better home base to come home to every night. There was plenty of space and the beds were comfortable, plus the hot tub and views can't be beat!

    Emily2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing bachelorette weekend with my girls! Everything was perfectly laid out, just like the pictures. Every detail was thought out (down to the lights shining on the trees) and everything we needed was there. The view was amazing, close to bars/restaurants (we walked there) and close to some amazing wineries. We went to macrostie and Korbel - amazing! Blake and Santiago were super responsive and amazing hosts. Absolutely no regrets about this weekend. Tip: make sure to turn on the hot tub as soon as you arrive so it heats up! We learned the hard way.

    Katie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My sisters and I really enjoyed our stay at the house. The backyard and vineyard view is amazing. We loved watching the morning mist fade in the morning and sun set behind the hills in the evening. The hot tub was a nice relaxing end to a fun day of hiking and/or wine tasting. Location was close enough to walk into town, visit several wineries and hike on the coast and redwoods. The bedrooms and use of space allowed for us all to have a bed and privacy each night, which we all appreciated. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

    Abby2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

  • We were a group of 6 friends and we all absolutely loved staying here. The view is even better in person and really makes you feel like you're somewhere special. The home had everything we could possibly need and the beds were SUPER comfortable. The home was spotless and clearly the owners put a ton of thought and effort into styling it. We can't wait to return. Great airbnb experience, highly recommend.

  • Blake & Santiago's place was an absolute dream. The views, the comfort, the convenience. We couldn't have imagined renting a better house for New Years. Each room had it's own adjoining bathroom which gave each couple privacy. The kitchen was spacious and allowed us to cook group meals together. The walk to town was about five minutes which made it simple to get groceries or grab a quick lunch. We enjoyed the hammock under the trees as well. We can't wait to stay here again!

Beautifully designed, elegant, self-contained private cabin, in the Russian River Redwood region. A 10 min. walk to gorgeous Armstrong Woods State Park, 5 min. drive to town, and approx. 20 min. to the coast. Restive, romantic setting, a great spot for a private retreat, and a perfect base from which to explore the region in any direction. You'll have a large, private garden area to yourself in front of the cabin for watching the stars, and enjoying all the beautiful nature surrounding you.
Our Green Man's cabin was recently remodeled- (a labor of love!) - to accommodate guests who want things to be beautiful, simple, clean and private, and of course, fun! You can enjoy long hot soaks in mountain-pure water in the clawfoot bathtub, in the sky-lit semi-outdoor, heated private bath. The mini-kitchen has a lovely granite countertop, 2-burner electric stove, a small refrigerator and freezer, and a small Breville oven. We provide dark roast coffee, fresh fruit, granola, half & half, and oat milk- all of it organic! You can invite a couple of friends over, as there are dishes and seating for 4 people. For your amusement, there are playing cards, a Scrabble game, and origami paper with instructions, and plenty of books to read. You can sleep in the brand-new queen-size bed, under a down comforter, with all-cotton sheets and duvet. It's very easy to relax on the front porch in big comfortable chairs, all very private and secluded! And if you're interested, you're welcome to a guided tour of Lois' large art/sculpture studio on the property, just ask!
Green Man's Cabin is in easy access to so many beautiful places~ Armstrong Woods State Park is a flat 10-minute walk from here. Downtown Guerneville, and the Russian River are just 2 miles from here, with a great bike lane along the way for cyclists. Heading west, there are many beaches along the river, and it's about a 20-minute drive to the beautiful mouth of the river at the coast. When you're here, I can tell you about many more wonderful places to explore.
  • Lois’ cabin is truly a magical getaway in the woods. Every touch of the cabin is created with wonderful intention and artistic talent. The outdoor shower area is heavenly , although a bit chilly, it feels like an amazing little camping addition to the cabin with an incredible tub to soak in. We loved being so close to Armstrong redwoods , Main Street and a short drive to the ocean! We couldn’t recommend the cabin enough! Thank you to Lois and this little slice of hope in a hard time in our world

  • A perfect getaway: great location, beautiful space, thoughtful host. That bathtub is something special! We hope to return.

  • We had a great stay at the Green Man's Cabin - the cabin itself is incredibly charming & a perfect getaway. We loved being walking distance from Armstrong Woods (parking up there is a challenge, so it was great to not worry about that), and a quick & easy drive to downtown Guerneville. Lois was so sweet & a great hostess - she made sure we were super comfortable but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy the surroundings.

    Whitney2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really lovely home, and one of my favorite places I've found on Airbnb! Lois was a great host, usually coming out to say hi every time we parked the car and offering recommendations on the area. The cabin itself is beautiful, covered in a bunch of Lois's artwork and thoughtful touches, books, and games. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a quick meal as well as fresh fruit, granola, coffee, and tea. The bathroom was a fun part of the home, and taking an outdoor shower/bath was a refreshing part of the day. The bathroom was outdoors but felt completely private and enclosed. The cabin is a great size for two people, and extremely close to downtown Guerneville while being tucked away. There were really no rough parts to this! I hope we get to come back to this place soon.

    Paras2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magical. Wonderful details, warm host, enchanting location. I can honestly say this is one of my very favorite spots on AirBnB in one of my very favorite places in California. I can't wait to return.

  • Lois is a thoughtful and kind host. Great space for anyone who is allergic to scents or animals -- she knows how to make it safe! The cabin was a cozy little retreat from the world, very close to Armstrong Woods and the town of Guerneville, with many thoughtful touches. Lois's artwork is a highlight!

    Anne2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Lois’ place. She was very welcoming and the cabin was beautiful and comfortable. Definitely would recommend. Thanks, Lois!

  • Lois' lovely boho inspired cabin is a gem of an Airbnb just minutes away from downtown Guerneville and a short drive to neighboring towns. Lois embodies what it truly means to be an outstanding Host and truly does take care of you if you need anything at all. The cabin is clean with a fully working mini kitchen, fresh towels and linens, a comfy queen size bed, and even coffee and fruit! The bathroom is quite unique, as it's located outside in a private and protected room with a pretty clawfoot tub and heating lamp for the those chilly mornings and nights (what a cool experiences!). If you're looking for a relaxing and memorable weekend getaway, then I highly recommend staying at Lois' Airbnb!
