Places to stay in Gorda
Enjoy your visit to the Central Coast while relaxing on a private deck with glimpses of the ocean through the trees in winter, and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Park on the gated property and enter via the outdoor staircase. The top floor of my home includes a bedroom suite and deck.
This is a newly renovated, clean, fresh and well-lit large bedroom and attached bathroom, with a large private deck. It is a separate unit from the downstairs home, with a private entrance. Lots of windows provide lovely views of treetops and mountains, and let in lots of light, but there are black-out drapes for peaceful slumber. Please note it is necessary to climb stairs to access this lodging. There is also one step up, in the bathroom, to the toilet and shower.
This is a quiet, residential neighborhood of one way streets. As you travel, keep on the look out for deer and other wildlife among the trees. Drive slowly and enjoy the journey! On entering the gated property, always remember to then close the gate, to keep the wild turkeys and deer out of the yard, please!
  • Very private and clean accommodations, with great feature of granola and milk in the room. Lovely walking distance to downtown Cambria and easy drive to Hearst Castle. Excellent stay and super comfortable sleep.

  • Great place! The location was excellent, Becky was very welcoming and helpful, and the accommodations were perfect. Loved the deck off the room. High recommend for anyone traveling to the Central Coast.

  • Becky is so sweet and has a great little place perfect for any kind of trip!

    Rebecka2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Becky is a lovely hostess with a kind an joyful welcoming demeanor. The space was absolutely gorgeous, with thoughtful details in every corner and a cozy bed. Star gazing from the balcony was enjoyable and I appreciated the tips and maps she had for guests to acclimate to the area.

    Melanie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beckys place was beyond lovely! It was probably the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in, and all the little touches and amenities were lovely! Fresh flowers, snacks, fluffy robes and granola and milk for breakfast. She even thought of adding power strips and extensions all over the room so that the outlets were easily accessible. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio with a pot of tea and the led candles, looking up at the stars. It was the perfect weekend getaway and we will definitely be back!

  • Becky’s place is easy to access, clean, and very comfortable. She’s a great host and had coffee and granola and fruit ready in the apartment for our breakfasts. It’s a quick 5 min drive down to town. Couldn’t have been happier with the accommodation

  • I really enjoyed staying at Trish’s place and was impressed with the attention to detail. From the check-in communication process to the thoughtful touches. The filtered water pitcher, the kettle with water, the tea/snacks, mugs, extra blankets, local guidebooks and cleanliness. The bathroom was very clean and she includes soap amenities. The view from the front patio is amazing and peaceful. Would love to stay there again! Thank you Trish.

  • The accommodation was right in the woods and therefore super quiet. We spent one night there and then drove on. Was great.

    Adrian2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Trish is really about the lovely little touches! Very detail-oriented: every aspect of the room, from WiFi to snacks to windows, from check-in/check-out procedure to cleanliness, was arranged perfectly and with a keen eye. Breathtaking views of the hills up front. Superb location, close to hikes and town. And Trish is so kind, genuine, and welcoming. Great stay; hope to be back!

    Angela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, serene hideaway in Cambria. Woke up to lovely views of the fog casting over the hills. Very close to ideal destinations (Hearst castle, sea lion watching, etc.) Trish was responsive, friendly, and accommodating.

    Erica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Trish's place is lovely and clean, and the view from the porch is unmatched. Trish is a very attentive and hospitable host!

    James2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The entire experience was seamless and Trish is a great host.

    Keith2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Trish's place is terrific. This was our second time, and the first time was only a few weeks ago. We first came around Christmas and loved watching elephant seals and zebras in the wild. Simon is a wildlife photographer so we returned back to photograph elephant seals giving birth and we lucked out and actually caught this moment on camera. Trish's place was a wonderful rest place: it is a short drive from San Simeon, warm, clean, cozy and had a terrific book on seals, too! Trush had all that you might need in the room: tea, snacks, filtered water. By now we stayed in both bedrooms and liked both. We also enjoyed the lavender products for the shower. There is a cute hobbit house across the street. Totally recommend and hope to be back soon!

Spring weather and wildflowers are here in Cambria! Our dog friendly suite is a great home base to explore the central coast. The suite is close to Hearst Castle, elephant seals, hiking trails, surfing, pet friendly beaches, and Big Sur. Get cozy in your queen sized bed in front of the fireplace (with the flip of a switch) and watch your favorite shows over WiFi or on Cable. The Central Coast is waiting for you & I can't wait to be your host.
PLEASE READ ENTIRE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING!! NON SMOKING INSIDE AND OUT. Covid-19: Covid-19: During this unfortunate time, we want our guests to feel safe. Though it is not recommended to travel unless it is essential; if you do need to move about the planet, we ask that you please consider the health of those in our community. here is what we are doing for our guests: We have always gone above and beyond to maintain a safe and germ free environment for our guests. The recent health crisis has only made us more vigilant to that standard which now includes extra steps recommended to us by the cdc. We know you will be a thoughtful and responsible guest by taking the public safety precautions that have been recommended by the cdc. We Thank you in advance. Cambria is a fairly isolated place with lots of outdoor activities available so space and isolation is easy to maintain. We have a lot of restaurants in town that will deliver as well if you wish to maintain distance from the public. Please follow the community guidelines for trails and outdoor activities. Book with confidence! We are legally registered as a vacation rental with the county of SLO and the state of California. THE SUITE IS A SMALL SPACE. We don’t recommend booking if you require a larger space to move, are looking to book for more than 4 days, or have difficulty moving without assistance. If you choose to stay with us, please note that the registered account user must be one of the guests staying on the property. You may not use your account to rent the suite for another guest. Check us out in Instagram: @Suite_cambria_cottage The suite is a bright airy stand alone unit about 100sq ft total (10x10) It shares a front porch and property with the Main Cottage, which is also a rental (please note it may be occupied during your stay. We do not live on the property.) The Room: Lighting fixtures (Handmade by my husband!) and exposed beams give the space an eclectic feel. You'll walk in to your private suite greeted by a queen sized bed, small seating area, coffee station/kitchenette, and fireplace. Bed: Queen sized, memory foam mattress, 4 pillows, 400 tc sheets, and duvet. You'll find an extra blanket available in the under bed storage. Kitchenette/Coffee Station: The suite comes with a coffee maker, hot water kettle, and a microwave. NOT SUITED FOR MEAL PREP OR COOKING. (NO FOOD can go down the sink. If there are food particles in the sink after your stay, you will be charged an additional fee starting at $20 up to the amount of the repair should I need to call a professional) you can definitely pack some snacks and make a quick breakfast to get you out the door and exploring. We're happy to provide complimentary tea, coffee, creamers, and sweetener. Bathroom: cozy and compact, but functional. The space where the toilet sits is only about 2-3 ft wide and sits very close to the sink. It also has a low clearance on the ceiling, so if you are 5’11” you will need to watch your head. The stand up shower comes equipped with eco and human friendly Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body wash. The studio is located about a five minutes drive to the beach, 30 minutes to Paso Robles and Morro Bay, and about 40 minutes to San Luis Obispo. Unfortunately (and I stress this) I cannot recommend the property for people with any physical disabilities or those who require a larger space for movement.
The suite is located in a residential neighborhood. All our neighbors are friendly. Watch out for wildlife like turkey and deer. You will be about 5 minutes from the main drag of Cambria (via car) and for the more adventurous guests, you will find a few trails in to town right from your doorstep. It's about a 20 minute scenic walk into town. You will be a five minute drive to Moonstone Beach, 30 minutes to Paso Robles and Morro Bay, and about 40 minutes to San Luis Obispo. The neighbors are friendly, and the cars go slow. At night it can be pitch black and there is a ton of wildlife. Please drive carefully! The town of Cambria has a similar pace. Lots of shops, restaurants, wineries, historical sites, and beaches to explore. Most of the town is incredibly dog friendly and well behaved pooches are welcome on the patio of most places.
  • Great, clean little spot. It was perfect and had everything we needed to relax for a bit of time. The bed is super comfy and we had a great view. There is a fenced in yard too so your dog can run around and play! We really appreciated the calmness of our stay.

    Jennifer2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This a great place to get away for some peace and quiet. Lovely warm, cozy atmosphere and the fireplace was just everything! I felt like I had my own mini Starbucks with the coffee maker, coffee and even creamer! I’d definitely stay there again.

    Natalie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed four nights exploring the coast from San Simeon to Solvang with our two dogs. We found the suite to be very comfortable and very clean with charming touches. Listening to the frogs at dusk was especially enjoyable. The yard was well suited for dogs.

  • Quaint and cozy cottage, perfect for a couples get away. We enjoyed having a fireplace in the room and the bed was very comfortable. The location is close to town and beaches. Cassi was a great host and we had everything we needed. Check in was also very easy.

    Walter2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great economic place to stay! Would highly recommend to others.

    Weston2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cassi was so warm and accommodating! She made sure we had everything we needed for a really nice stay. The place is adorable and so quiet! Cambria is full of pretty marginal accommodations at VERY high prices. Cassi's place is a wonderful value! Very nice bed, charming interior, and so quiet. Don't waste your time with motels in town. Cassi's place is all you need. We won't be looking any further again.

    Cathy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

Minutes from Moonstone Beach, downtown Cambria, and Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. 10 minutes south of Hearst castle. Quiet, serene, and spacious, feels like a cabin in the woods. Located in a quiet forested neighborhood. Private deck and kitchenette.
This is a spacious craftsman style studio that is attached to my home. It has a private entrance, bathroom, and deck. Located in a quiet, forested neighborhood. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceiling, stone shower, wood cabinetry, serene simple decor, and picture windows looking out to the garden give a feeling of rustic luxury. The room has a California king size bed with a Tempurpedic mattress. It has a kitchenette: mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and electric kettle. I provide coffee, half and half, hot chocolate, and tea. You can walk to the West Village of Cambria or the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve in 15 minutes. Moonstone Beach and downtown Cambria are accessible within minutes by car. Hearst Castle is 10 minutes north, wine country is 30 minutes east, and the Big Sur highway begins approximately 30 minutes north. ***I work 40 minutes away from Cambria and often leave early and arrive home late. I am not always able to greet guests when they arrive. In this situation, I will leave your name on the gate and a key to let yourself in. Please make sure you are comfortable with this arrangement before making a reservation.
  • Always a pleasure to stay at Ann-Marie's Cambria hide-a-way. The sun came out and we enjoyed a coffee on the patio among all the plants and trees...just perfect.

    Rex2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful garden paradise. It is calm and relaxing. The room looks great with all the natural materials (wooden floor, shower made of stone...). It is a place with soul! Ann-Marie is a very good and friendly host.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Ann-Marie's lovely place. I enjoyed mornings on the deck with the birds, the very comfy bed, the beautiful stone tiled shower was a treat as well as all the other thoughtful amenities and the walks along the sea cliffs were very special. I was really refreshed from my retreat there.

    Marie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to stay. Can’t beat the value. Pictures don’t do this place justice, it’s very nice.

    Spencer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Ann-Marie's peaceful abode during our drive from San Francisco down to Los Angeles, and it was the perfect pit stop! Her flexible check-in policy meant that we didn't have to rush our drive down the coastline. Additionally, the space was perfect for two; a big, comfortable bed, a cozy heater, a relaxing porch, a refreshing shower, and a wonderfully utilitarian kitchenette set up. Her home is also filled with small touches, like a personalized welcome sign on the gate, a guestbook (also filled with glowing reviews), and several recommendations for local hangouts/activities. Thank you to Ann-Marie for providing this welcome respite!

Our cozy but spacious one bedroom apartment near town in a forested setting provides guests with privacy as well as close proximity to the wonders of Cambria including world famous Hearst Castle, area wineries, pristine beaches, fine dining and our occasional special local events such as the Scarecrow Festival, Christmas Market with magnificent lighting, and summer holiday parade. Cambria is truly an all year around destination resort! Stay several nights and you won't be disappointed!!
Ours is a very cute 1 bedroom cottage apartment on a wooded property adjacent to an attractive main house. The apartment is completely furnished, with a private, secure entrance, private bath (shower), king bed, queen futon in the living area, Wi-Fi, Direc tv and Netflix (we now have a flat screen), and small kitchenette. There is approximately 400 square feet of space to make it super roomy! Complimentary amenities: --Breakfast treats and snacks --Beverages that include assorted teas, coffees, cocoa, juice and milk --Wireless internet --Satellite tv (LCD and DVD) and Netflix --Full size refrigerator --Keurig and regular cofee maker --Microwave --Blender --2 burner stovetop (no oven) --Bottled water --Electric fireplace and also thermostat controlled gas --Electric kettle --Toaster --Private entrance with keyless lock (code provided) The cottage apartment is adjacent to a large community deck/patio with outdoor furniture. Beyond that is a walkway to expansive grounds with fruit and pine trees and other shrubbery. (See the geodesic dome we built!) The parking is by the street (but on our property) and just a short walk up well lit outside stairs from the apartment. Upon your arrival we will deliver to your door a bottle of local wine or sparkling cider. (It's so nice to have refreshments when you arrive after a long drive!). We have over ten years experience running a full service, award winning homestay Bed and Breakfast. (Excellent reviews may be found at various hosting sites on the web). We can advise you on wine tours (there are dozens of wineries within 35 miles). You are one mile to a vast 400 acre waterside nature preserve (Fiscalini Ranch) which has trails and boardwalks and a view of otters, sea birds and forest animals (directions provided). You are also only one mile to town and dozens of fine restaurants and delightful shops. The cottage apartment is only two blocks off Highway 1, which is the route you take north 8 miles to fabulous Hearst Castle--and another 3 miles beyond that to view the impressive elephant seals (along the way you may see zebras!) 17 miles south is Cayucos, one of California's last "funky beach towns." There is even public transportation one block away into San Luis Obispo, our local college town. (If you just want to stay in the neighborhood part of the time, there are impressive architectural styles, deer and a flock of wild turkeys.) There is room for a well behaved child or two. We're sorry but NO PETS ARE ALLOWED and we do run an entirely smoke-free establishment. At this time we require minimum two night reservations on both weeknights as well as weekends. Reserve early for holiday periods! There's PLENTY to do in Cambria and environs for two nights/day, you'll see!! Three nights is even better. We look forward to making your visit to our Central Coast "heaven" a memorable and relaxing one. P.S. Bed tax of 12% is included in your payment.
The eclectic mix of architectural styles, the views of the surrounding hills, the wildlife (a flock of turkeys, deer), the relative nearness of the beach, the friendliness of neighbors--we have it all!
  • This was an FANTASTIC place to stay for a weekend exploring the area. Eleanor greeted me and gave me good suggestions on hiking spots, places to eat, etc. The space is nice and quiet, and the amenities were SO plentiful! Lots of extra food and drinks, including a bottle of wine. The bed was comfortable and I slept really well. The fresh flowers were such a thoughtful touch, as were the little treats everywhere, and the plentiful brochures on area activities. Would definitely recommend this spot.

    Cindy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Eleanor are fantastic hosts with a very cozy and comfy apartment. I have never been to an air bnb with so many amenities and comforts to choose from!

The whole Cambria surprises us as a fantastic place to relax and spend a great time. We definitely want to return!

  • Bill and Eleanor are hands on hosts, They welcomed us in the rain and helped us with our luggage to their cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The bed was very comfy and the wine was a nice welcoming touch. We were very close to the cute Main street of Cambria and we had the best time shopping, eating, and drinking in this beautiful place.

  • Bill & Eleanor were fantastic hosts! Check-in was easy, communication was simple and prompt, and all aspects of the space were as described. Bill & Elanor provided us with great local knowledge about the surrounding area and checked in with us regularly to ensure that everything was to our liking during our stay. Highly recommend staying with them if you have the chance.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eleanor and Bill's place: Quaint, comfortable lodgings, excellent amenities, with a very pleasant patio to sip coffee or wine. The location is easily accessible and close to all of the local attractions. Their hospitality was outstanding.

  • My companion and I stayed here because Cambria was a midpoint on a trip to destinations further up the coast from our home in Long Beach. As it turned out, the time at Bill and Eleanor’s was a highlight of the entire trip. Hands down the best Airbnb stay I’ve ever had, and I’ve stayed in a number of lovely places with delightful hosts. Here we felt truly cared about, with suggestions for things to do and amazing food offerings all tailored to us personally. Just a truly delightful stay with special touches way too numerous to mention here ... including a small bouquet of fresh flowers in the bathroom and wonderful, perfectly ripened kiwi in a fruit basket. Thank you, Eleanor and Bill! Hope to visit again soon and already envy the guests lucky enough to be staying with you now!

  • We had a good experience at this AirBnb. The hosts provided a thoughtful variety of food and beverages, exceeding our expectations. The rental itself had a good amount of character, and was very functional for our travel style. The location was great for exploring Cambria and nearby San Simeon/Hearst Castle!

Guests just love the privacy and surrounding beauty of our charming suite that overlooks a lovely forest to the Pacific Ocean (please check out our reviews). Our sparkling clean guest cottage has it all: peace and quiet, private entrance, uncluttered space, panoramic views, gorgeous sunsets, abundant wildlife, out-door Jacuzzi, in-room coffee maker, micro-kitchen, fresh cotton linens, great WiFi, dedicated off-street parking and a yummy continental breakfast left outside your door each morning.
Welcome valued guests! Relax in our private, detached, guest cottage in Cambria's "Top of the World" neighborhood -- only minutes from Hearst Castle, downtown shopping, the beach, hiking and everything else Cambria village offers including, wine tasting, galleries and fine dining. Our bright, airy suite is upstairs over the garage with very nice panoramic views of the surrounding forest and the ocean (many, many guests have mentioned the views are actually much better then the pictures). Very quite and comfortable -- with an extra large full size Tempur-Pedic bed -- our guest suite is a wonderful place to retreat from the everyday world. Entrance to a forested nature preserve with light hiking trails, is a five-minute walk from your door. From there, the adventurous can hike to the ocean and wander along 1.5-mile trail of unspoiled ocean-front beauty. To get here, once in the neighborhood, we recommend following the driving directions in the Airbnb confirmation instead of a GPS or maps program especially if you want to avoid unpaved roads. Birds, deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife abound right outside your windows, throughout the property and the entire neighborhood. The corner table / work space surrounded by windows is perfect for that morning cup of coffee, using your laptop or writing in your journal while gazing out to the forest and ocean beyond or star gazing at night. Enjoy a relaxing Jacuzzi under a perfect starry sky. Take in the breathtaking sunsets with a glass of wine from the Jacuzzi or your sitting room. Enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the wildlife from our sunny Jacuzzi deck. We highly recommend taking note of the driving directions in the "Location" section of our listing for the best way to get here once you leave the highway. There are paved and unpaved roads in the neighborhood so please follow the written directions if you want to avoid the unpaved roads. Also, we recommend arriving during daylight if possible as there is very little street lighting (but lots of starry night sky) in our neighborhood.
Use our guest suite as your home base to relax while exploring all that Cambria and surrounding areas have to offer. Below is a summary. Cambria is a wonderful and picturesque seaside village near Hearst Castle and about 1/2 way between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The drive along the coast between Cambria and Monterey /Carmel is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking coastal drives in the world. Cambria is known for it's downtown villages atmosphere, its beaches and boardwalk, fine and casual dining, galleries and nearby wine-tasting. The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve in the heart of Cambria is a 430 acre park that protects more than a mile of spectacular Pacific Ocean coastline. This preserve offers spectacular hiking along the coastline (we think this is one of the best ocean-front walks anywhere). There are also steeper hill climbs on the ranch you may choose to follow uphill for a breathtaking ocean vista. Whale viewing is possible along this path for several months a year. You can hike from our home to the ranch if you don't mind some steep hills coming back. Another nearby park has a children's playground with an ocean view! Moonstone Beach with it's 1.5-mile ocean-side boardwalk is a visitor favorite. San Simeon Cove with its pier (and Hearst Castle) north of Cambria is about 10 minutes away. Cambria has been ranked (many times) as one of the top 10 destinations on the west coast. Wine tasting along Hwy 46 is one of the best kept secrets of San Luis Obispo County. Within 30 minutes of our home are more than two dozen independent and boutique wineries nestled within some of the most beautiful countryside and ocean views anywhere. Our home is in Cambria's "Top of the world" neighborhood, a very quiet, forested, neighborhood with bountiful wildlife and panoramic views of the ocean. There are paved and unpaved roads in the neighborhood so please check out our driving instructions for the best way to come and go if you want to avoid unpaved roads. Please keep an eye out for the deer and other wildlife as you drive.

  • I did plenty of research before I finally decided on this Airbnb in this area. What stood out to me was the view, location, and free daily breakfast, but the second I arrived I realized it was so much more than I could have ever imagined! Our 3 night stay was absolutely perfect! I appreciated the thoughtful touches such as the fresh little flowers on arrival and throughout the suite. The fully stocked coffee and tea area and the mini fridge. I loved all the windows, the views, and the breeze that came through. The daily breakfast was delicious, presented beautifully, and the timing just perfect to catch the birds eating each morning was such a treat. They went above and beyond to not only provide you with a binder full of recommendations and local tips in the area but also pamphlets, books, tips and even binoculars to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. We toured Hearst Castle, hiked, did a wine tasting at Harmony Cellars, (which they provided a 2 for 1 coupon, totally scored on that one!) explored Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, did some bird watching, and checked out some local restaurants and beaches. We even took a drive up the coast to Big Sur to do some hiking at Pfeiffer State Park, and we couldn’t have picked the most perfect place to call home for a couple of days. It was truly magical! Thank you Stevan and Lori for your amazing hospitality and helping us make our time there so memorable!

  • Lori & Stevan are awesome hosts! The private room and bath are lovely, clean and very comfortable!! We slept great. It is peaceful and amazing to sit at the table in the morning watching all the different birds and then enjoying the sunset over the ocean from the same table! There is everything we could possibly need including breakfast the next morning and tips on where to go and the best places to eat. We will definitely return.

The cute Cambria cottage is next to the Bridge Street Inn (not shared), with a kitchenette (not full kitchen), private garden & BBQ. It's family-friendly and close to activities, dining, and nightlife. You’ll love it because of the quiet location, garden & neighborhood, though steps away from the great places in Cambria's East Village; like the Cafe, Linn's on the corner, Bonni's Tacos, Robins & the new True Earth Market. Families and groups of friends will enjoy this low-key Cambria getaway.
The cottage is by no means a quaint little tiny home modeled on the HGTV network or offers the staleness of a McMansion. From its low front door handle to its terrarium (look at the windows in the pic) type bedroom it's sure to please lots of people but not everyone. Guests use a wide vocabulary of different words to describe the cottage. Here are a few examples: good value, comfy, marvelous, relaxing, cozy, funky, and rickety. It is what it is. Enjoy:) A 7 day rental receives 20% off and a 4 night rental receives 15% off the booking price. Here are two reviews that describe the charm of the cottage: "So fun to return to a special memory and now bring our kiddos! This is one of our favorite places. There’s a decided ‘funkiness’ to the cottage, so if you’re the traveler who requires all things shiny & modern, need to have a space virtually hermetically sealed off from everything & everyone, or matching...this isn’t the place for you. Loved loved LOVED our stay." “Rustic, charming, quaint, authentic. Great little cottage in a great location. We happened to be there on one of the coldest nights of the year and, with the ample heating and extra blankets, we were all double extra cozy. Heads-up: if you're looking for a 5-star hotel experience, this ain't it. But if you're looking for a genuine old school cottage a short walk from the best part of Cambria, this is the ticket. Super quiet, charm out the wazoo, cozy factor off the charts. And Brandon is an amazing host. We would definitely book this one again.” Information and common questions from House Guests: Our kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, knives, dishes and silverware. We try to avoid paper (in the kitchen) as much as possible... Yes, bathrooms are fully stocked with TP. We provide all the linens, including small towels on each bed, but we do encourage guests to bring their own towels. Intentionally, we have rather small towels that wash and dry quickly and they aren't the same plush thick things that some guests may be used to. Thick towels take a lot of space in the laundry and are very slow to line dry hanging outside, too, so in our efforts of sustainable and water wise operations, there is a reason for small towels, but please feel free to bring your own if you wish. The Garden Cottage shares a gate with the Bridge Street Inn (Airbnb rental). There is a local health food market called Soto's True Earth Market on the corner about 2 minutes walk away, and supermarket about 1/2 mile away with anything you don't quickly find.
A 3 night reservation receives 15% off the booking price. Why stay 3 nights? Day 1: 8 miles North of the Inn is the Hearst Castle The Castle offers multiple daily tours. Across from the castle is the William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach. Sea for Yourself Kayak Outfitters offers tours and kayak/paddleboard rentals. A short walk from the beach is Sebastian's General Store. Inside you can enjoy a causual-chic grass fed Hearst burger and the Hearst Ranch Winery wine bar. Day 2: 23 miles North of the Inn is Salmon Creek Falls. This is your opportunity to explore the southern part of Big Sur. Between Cambria and Salmon Creek Falls are many unpopulated beaches with no cell phone reception. One of my favorites is Carpoforo Beach. Salmon Creek Falls trail system offers amazing picnic spots like at Estrella Camp, swimming holes, and hiking. Just south of Salmon Creeks Falls is Ragged Point. A perfect stop to enjoy a cup of coffee with amazing views. Also between Cambria and the falls are the most interesting critters called Elephant Seals. Well worth a stop. Day 3: Cambria day to have a no drive day. Explore the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Catch the trail a few blocks from the Inn. Hike all the way to the ocean. Take a book, postcards, and journal to Moonstone Beach. Enjoy historic Cambria's many restaurants, coffee shops and yoga studios within walking distance of the cottage. When planning your Cambria trip don't forget your surfboard to surf weirdo's break, sturdy boots to hike Fiscalini Ranch Reserve, bicycle to pedal to the elephant seals, yoga mat to use at Tula Yoga, a thirst for coffee/wine/beer tasting, an empty belly to enjoy delicious restaurants, Friday aesthetic dance, and reusable grocery bag to fill with locally grown Cambria produce from Soto's True Earth Market for epic picnics or meet the farmers at the Friday farmer's market.
  • The Tiny House was such an unexpected delight! My daughter, granddaughter and her friend loved the kitschy vibe. The beds were so comfortable and I slept like a baby. Thank you, Brandon, for making available such a wonderful home!

  • This was our second time at the Cottage and we loved it!! We had our 4 years old and 8 months old with us along with my in-laws and we all fit comfortably. We definitely will be back. Its a great price and super close to Main Street. It's very quiet and perfect for a getaway.

  • We stayed here with our 2 teenage sons (midway between SF & LA) and we didn’t feel too confined by the Tiny House. It had the basics like shampoo & extra blankets, plus lots of entertaining decor, a few games, and a variety of books. The garden is lovely & it’s very close to many shops and restaurants, cafes, etc. Since it is not on the main street, it’s quiet and peaceful. We loved it!

Set on a wooded hillside, our cozy cabin is a delightful escape into remote wine country. There's plenty to inspire the adventurer, artist & nature lover. Handmade and collected art peep out from every nook of the property. The meticulous grounds (28 acres) have a park-like quality with toys for adults, children & furry friends (hot tub, hammock, swings, fire pit, games). Stained glass windows & antiques adorn a separate "tea house" studio recently featured in Erika Kotite's book "She Sheds."
A stay at our 25 acre rustic retreat is a totally unique and joyful experience. The interior spaces are beautiful, comfortable and tiny, but you’ll probably spend most of your time outside in the surrounding natural beauty. From our hilltop vista you have a 180 degree of breathtaking views. Justine Winery is the nearest (6.5 miles). You'll need reservations for their dining room. If you’d rather stick around the cabin you might enjoy a game of bocce ball, soak in the hot tub, try your hand at rock stacking, or find your favorite hammock/swing to relax in. Star gazing from the Vista is spectacular! Firewood is available for both covered pits and there's a large gas grill. Inside the main stone cabin we have room for 4 around the dining table, a cozy living space, a fully equipped kitchen, and an upstairs loft than snuggly sleeps two in a full bed. In the bathroom, a claw footed tub sits before the view of the garden and birdbath. We have books, games and movies for you to borrow. We’ve kept our home simple, but we have enough technology to keep you comfortable (wi-fi, air conditioning, heat, satellite radio). Fresh eggs from our chickens, fruit, home-baked sweet bread, fruit bowl and coffee/tea await you in our kitchen. If you’re staying with more than two guests, our 10ft x 10ft “Tea House” has a twin daybed and trundle bed. It comes equipped with a coffee maker, air conditioning and heat. Even if you don’t need the extra sleeping quarters, you may find yourself lured here for some peaceful yoga as the morning light streams through our handmade stained glass window. Just behind the Tea House is a gorgeous stone bathhouse with a shower, sink and toilet. Think of this remote location as a restful, rejuvenating escape.
  • One of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been. Highly recommend for a great get away. Private and serene. I could stay for a month! You won’t be disappointed by Dinah’s gem of a property. Thank you!

    Kenny2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful, beautiful place to spend time with a loved one or a small family. Many winery's close by but you could easily spend the whole time at the property because it's such a relaxing atmosphere.

    Oleg2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, charming place to stay, look no further. Dinah and Rich were great hosts, orienting us to the property and all of the amenities upon arrival and were very responsive when we had questions. The location of the property is remote enough to feel private, but close enough to wineries etc. to have adventures. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and we prepared all of our meals there. The indoor and outdoor spaces are well designed and there are several options for where you can sit and hang out. We used the fire pit and hot tub, both of which were nice to have on chilly February evenings. Both mornings, a group of about 20 wild turkeys passed through the property which was so neat. We also saw a ton of deer. The lookout point that you can walk (or drive) up to was such a cool bonus. It really is a beautiful area. Dinah and Rich have really thought of all the touches you could hope for and we weren't wanting for anything.

    Gail2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place will not disappoint The views are fantastic at top of hill Hot tub is sized right. Wine tasting facilities are within a few miles. Turkey, coyote, deer all there passing thru the grounds.... What more could you need!

    Mary2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dinah and Rich were amazing hosts who met us and gave us a thorough tour of the property, as well as a scenic overlook. The house really has everything you need for a getaway. It's great for anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet retreat that surrounds you with nature. You might find yourself soaking in the clawfoot tub or in the outdoor hottub. While not fenced, there was plenty of space for our dog to run. We saw deer and wild turkey and quails. And if you're from the city, we were met with the beautiful sound of silence. It's a bit of a drive from town, but that was fine with us. As for the property, it's only when you realize that Rich and Dinah built the house themselves do you notice the care, effort and style that went into its creation. I joked it was something out of Harry Potter; it's totally charming, and nature is framed from the windows. We wanted a serene way to ring in the New Year, and we got exactly what we desired. We'd love to return!

  • Dinah is a first class host across the board. From the beginning, her communication with us has been stellar. She made wonderful recommendations for local eateries and wineries, and she really went out of her way to make sure things went smoothly for us. As for the property, the plethora of outstandingly excellent reviews speak for themselves. We have already booked our return in the Spring. Bravo!

Cambria is a magical place. It's a wooded area right next to the ocean. Cambria is very rural, so it's quite normal to see wild turkeys, quail, and deer walking around the neighborhood daily. The ocean brings with it the sounds and joys of the sea. Sea otters, dolphins, and seals spend much of their time close to shore, and you can watch pods of whales migrating while standing on the shoreline, or learn about the herds of elephant seals that call this area "home." This house is located at the highest part of town. The area is referred to as "Top of the World." It's the sunniest and warmest of all the microclimates in town. Top of the World is also special because you have great views of both the Santa Lucia mountain range to the east and the ocean to the west.
  • As everyone else has said, the beds are very comfortable and Renee makes an amazing gourmet breakfast into which she puts a lot of thought and effort. Her house is beautifully decorated with lovely art work. Renee is understandably concerned about our environment and resources. To this end, she has many rules. For example, to conserve water she requests that one take one shower per day of a maximum time of five minutes. California has been experiencing a drought in most of the past few years.

  • Beautiful home with an unforgettable view. Renee was a terrific host that made us unique and delicious meals each morning. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. For a very busy woman, the host went out of her way to make our stay special and also made time for pleasant conversation. Josie and Romeo made the separation from our own doggie much easier. They were great. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again at some point in the future!

  • Gerry’s apartment in Cambria is lovely. I have only good things to say. - very kind hosts who showed us around the house and pointed out all of the wonderful amenities. - the apartment has a great layout, and is very quiet. There was a bottle of wine, and many useful things in the kitchen that were welcome touches. Plenty of cooking gear and pantry basics. -everything was super clean and fresh in the apartment. - there is cable tv and movie channels, along with dvds and Netflix/amazon prime. Perfect for rainy days. - the apartment is right up the street from the main restaurant and shopping area in Cambria. It’s a beautiful spot, we saw wild turkeys, deer, humming birds and turkey vultures!

    Christine2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The space is warm and inviting. The amenities are so abundant that you could truly stay locked away for the weekend and want for nothing, from the bottle of wine to the coffees and treats you won’t be disappointed. We highly recommend!

  • A charming stay!

    Laura2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very clean, well appointed, and in a great location. Gerry and Paula were wonderful hosts, and they even accommodated our dietary restrictions. We wished we could have stayed longer, and we will definitely be booking our next future stay in Cambria at this place.

    Kimberly2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location with wonderful views. very comfortable stay and nice host. Very welcoming, clean and warm. This trip to the United States is the best. I will choose to stay here next time I come to Cambria.

  • Gerry’s place is sparkling clean and well-equipped for a stay in beautiful Cambria. I was pleased to receive a complimentary bottle of wine and breakfast goodies for the morning. Children are welcome but space is not child proofed. Safety is parents' responsibility. No pets.
Check-in time after 4 pm till 10 pm Check-out time before 11 am We are flexible about these times and will make special arrangements if you let us know your needs. Please let us know your anticipated arrival time. This is a custom built home, contemporary, spacious and comfortable. We welcome children; however parents are responsible for the safety of their children. About a block walk from the Pacific Ocean, you can hear the sounds and rhythms of the sea, breathe fresh salt air and watch weather roll in. Cambria air is fresh and clean. Climate mild; but dress in layers. We can have spectacular sunsets which you can view from the beach or boardwalk, or while sipping a glass of wine at the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill outdoor patio. On the beach each you can collect Cambria "moonstones," walk or just contemplate. The ocean is cold, the climate is temperate and breezy-- surfing in wet suit is good, but don't count on swimming on Moonstone Beach. San Simeon Cove is 8 miles up the road and is more protected where you can go in the water.
Cambria is situated on rocky bluffs at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by pine forest, hills wineries and ranches. Located at the south end of Big Sur, we entertain visitors from all over the word all year. We have plenty of variety in places to eat and a Friday farmers' market and a well stocked grocery. The village, beaches and rural environs are scenic. It is a great place for photography & a haven for local and visiting plein aire artists. In addition to friendly people, there is abundant wild life (deer, wild turkey, fox, bobcat, shore birds, seals, sea lions, elephant seals, sea otters, zebras (yes), etc. Our home is on a street where the majority are second homes, so it can be very quiet-- or quite lively on holidays. You will be walking distance from the village, Moonstone Beach and Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Enjoy the quaint charm of Cambria's many boutiques, restaurants and wine tasting rooms. Walk on the beach or the bluff boardwalk which includes benches and picnic facilities. About 8 miles north are world class destinations, Hearst Castle and the Elephant Seal Viewing Area (where these great sea beasts haul out to fight, mate and give birth in winter; rest and molt in summer). If you plan to visit Hearst Castle, we recommend to purchase tickets in advance (online) to be sure you get on the tour you want. Also visit San Simeon Cove to kayak in the kelp beds with sea otters, hike to the point, swim and picnic; or tour historic Piedras Blancas Light House. Ten minutes drive south is Cayucos with it’s renovated fishing pier and 50’s surfing vibe. Another ten minutes and you are in Morro Bay where you can kayak in the bay with otters and sea lions, shop, eat, visit the bird sanctuary, go deep sea fishing from the harbor, buy fish fresh caught daily, etc. There is a continuous 7-mile beach between Caucus and Morro Bay. There are several wine tasting venues in Cambria or drive a half hour into the heart of the Paso Robles wine country, home to over 100 wineries and tasting rooms, along scenic route 46 and on winding byways through the vineyards, olive and walnut orchards. Taste California olive oils where the olives locally grown and pressed as well as our fine wines.
  • Ian and Lucie were great hosts! Their home was beautiful and clean. Very close to Hearst Castle and moonstone beach as well as all the local restaurants. Perfect location and decorated so beautifully. Would love to come back in the future! They are amazing people.

    Robyn2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of our favorite Airbnb’s to stay at, we have a great time each year and enjoy the hospitality of Ian and Lucie. It’s so good that we have stayed here twice and plan to stay here more in the future.

    Nick2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home, stylish, thoughtful touches, comfy bed, and sixty seconds walk to the beach!! Great hosts. Loved our stay.

    Amy2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Lucie's place is beautiful. It is well appointed with many thoughtful touches. There is coffee and tea as well as a few cookies to welcome you. The space is very comfortable to be in and there are many windows to provide natural light. It's an easy walk to Moonstone Beach. Ian and Lucie are gracious hosts and welcomed us back this year with open arms. We are very much looking forward to our next visit!

    Sherry2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION and SO MUCH MORE! Ian and Lucie are most welcoming, their space is private, airy, clean and well-appointed. It felt like staying at a private villa at a resort; except it is in a residential neighborhood instead of on lots of acreage. A bargain compared to what is available.

    Greg2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location just a few minutes walk from Moonstone Beach. Beautiful large artfully decorated accommodation with many amenities within sight and sound of the ocean. Private patio off master with ocean view. In my opinion this would be the Airbnb equivalent of a luxury hotel but with a kitchen! Wonderful friendly hosts. A perfect Cambria by the Sea experience.

    Andrew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We have been coming to Cambria for many years, staying in both hotels and AirBNBs. We chose this one for the space it provided, as well as the close proximity to Moonstone Beach. Lucie and Ian made our stay easy with a great welcome and quick communication. We enjoyed spending the time with our adult daughter, eating several meals in. We had everything needed to make a nice meal. We loved waking up to the sound and view of the ocean from our bed! The weather was great and we loved exploring Cambria, especially Fiscalini Ranch preserve. We would definitely return in the future.

    MaryBeth2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough how much Eric and I’ve this place! We just finished our third stay here and we’re sad to leave. We booked this third stay on the way home from our second stay earlier this month for our birthdays. Ian and Lucie are so kind and thoughtful-we even got a printout of next year’s Vandenberg launch schedule. Their place is stylish and bright-the bed is so comfy and the house is so inviting. We are already planning our next trip. Thank you Ian and Lucie, we appreciate you!

WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR Located deep in Carmel Valley in rural Cachagua, the studio over-looks the Carmel River and the Ventana Wilderness of Los Padres National Forest. WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR! This is a remote setting: We are 40 minutes inland from Carmel/Monterey and and 1.5 hours away from Big Sur. The studio is an apartment sharing a common wall with the apartment next door.
We are located deep in Carmel Valley on a very windy, narrow and steep country road--some call it harrowing but worth the drive. The property has a small cluster of mountain cabins built in the 1920s as a summer retreat for a Carmel Highlands family. Nestled under old oaks, the studio apartment is tucked at the back of the main cabin, an overlooks the Carmel River. The main cabin, built in 1929, has two other apartments, all of which have their own entrances. The studio shares one wall with the one bedroom apartment. Included in the studio is a kitchenette stocked with basic utensils for cooking, allowing you to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet of a retreat atmosphere. NOTE: The oven is on the blink and only heats to 260º. There is the stove top and toaster. The small apartment sized refrigerator is located next to the kitchen in the bathroom. The kitchen is stocked with basic breakfast items (coffee, teas, half and half, sugar, oatmeal) and cooking supplies (olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper). There is one full-size bed and a futon chair that makes into a twin bed. There is room for two adults and one child. The bathroom has a full-size claw foot bathtub, perfect for steamy relaxation. The deck over looks the Carmel River, which runs year-round. CHILDREN: The property is not suited for young children. PETS: Non-shedding, spayed FEMALE dogs are allowed on a case by case basis. No male dogs, no cats and no puppies! Dogs must be over a year old, well behaved, up to date with shots, and have their own bedding and towels (no muddy paws on the white towels, please). NOTE: If you bring your dog, she is to be with you at all times and never left behind. With the exception of state parks, this is a very dog friendly area and you should have no problems taking her anywhere. SUMMER HEAT & BUGS: First, it's usually fairly hot here--the river is the perfect spot to swim or just soak your feet. Second, It would be good to bring Off! or equivalent bug spray for mosquitoes and gnats. Last, if you plan on doing any hiking make certain you bring Technu for poison oak.
The Studio is located in a small cluster of cabins. There are some vegetable gardens and minimal landscaping. For returning visitors: 10/10/16-- General Store, located one mile inland, served it's last Monday night dinner. The closest restaurants are 30 minutes away in the Village.
  • Truly a remarkable experience to stay at this beautiful studio! The nature inside the property is so beautiful that you could definitely get lost in it. Definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

    Carlos2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved it here. Would love to come back!

    Maya2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was just as described and better. Super quiet surrounding with creek right next to cabin, perfect place to unwind. The WiFi only worked very early in the mornings when not too many people were using it. So we recommend you download all the music and Netflix you might need for your stay before you’ll get there :) super comfy bed, big enough for two. We’ll be back!

    Julia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia and Chris’s place was amazing! Super cozy and cute for a little couples getaway. My boyfriend and I came back feeling refreshed and zen. Beautiful mornings with coffee on the balcony. Super friendly hosts! Chris gave my boyfriend some tips for adventuring around the area. We’d love to come back!

    Brittnee2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at the studio was amazing! Marcia's detailed directions made finding the place very easy. We loved the peaceful patio by the river so much that we completely scrapped our plans to check out the town and just stayed in and relaxed. We cannot wait to return!

    Matt2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia and Chris are such special hosts that it's no wonder their space exudes such magic. If you love the outdoors and are looking for a quaint and cozy space to relax, write or talk to birds this is your spot. The price is unbeatable and it's so serene. Marcia and I had some lovely chats and she told me all about the space, I was lucky to be there during the week as I got THE grand tour. Both Chris and Marcia were so helpful from building me a fire to helping me with the fabulous bathtub they were always close by to make sure I was comfortable. If you choose to stay in this charming spot please make sure to say "hi" to the birds for me :)

    Rachel2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a cozy, serene retreat, then look no further! Marcia’s cabin is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. It is a bit of a drive, but if you don’t mind some windy roads the destination is well worth it. The cabin is very clean, and the amenities are great. We had a wonderful stay!

    Kat2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy and unique studio by the river. Easy to find, and very welcoming host. Especially during winter season I would recommend heating the stove throughout the day for a warm night. Firestarters help a lot. Everything was great, the bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed my day on the deck. The only sad thing was that I didn't have my wife with me - she would have absolutely loved the place.

A great place to share with family or friends.
Our home is within a short walk to the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, a open preservation land with trails along the coast and through one of the last stands of natural pines in the country. One of California's most beautiful scenic areas!
  • The house was great! It had all the comforts of home with a wonderful view. We would definitely stay again😊

    Tracy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home! Fantastic views from the living area. Spotless and comfortable. And having the Fiscalini Preserve so close to walk and hike and take in the views!

    Nancy2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had! The space was so much more roomy than we expected. The kitchen had everything we needed. The patio spaces (2!) were such a lovely addition that we didn't really want to leave! And of course the gathering space with the huge corner bunch and massive window (with ocean views) was just perfect. We had planned to go out to dinner but ended up staying in both nights to enjoy the house :)

    Kera2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Hummingbird House is delightful in its unique construction with exposed beams and wood, as well as lots of glass and skylights. It is a quick drive to downtown Cambria and about 15 minutes to Hearst Castle. We enjoyed the easy walking access to the many hiking trails in the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Hummingbird House is well equipped and we all enjoyed our stay here. We would not hesitate to book Hummingbird House again.

    William2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Hummingbird House is just as lovely as described. Lots of natural light, interesting architecture, many amenities, and a beautiful view of the Pacific ocean. Everything was spotless, and the bedrooms and baths are spacious. We were hoping that a friend could join us, but she was unable to come, so it was just the two of us. We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the charm and comfort of the house. We were only there two nights, so we hiked Fiscalini one day, and went to Hearst Castle the second day. Patty provided directions and tips for restaurants, which were greatly appreciated. Very enjoyable mini-vacation! We hope to stay there again next time we're in Cambria!

    Alexis2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Just like the other reviews say, it was spotless, decorated very nicely and comfortably, well stocked, great location, and very good communication with hostess?....We, all 4, wanted to stay and relax another week!

Hello, A Diamond in the Rough is a nice little Rural apartment just down the road from Hearst Castle. The property is actually adjacent to Hearst property, at times Hearst Castle Zebras have been known to graze right next to the fence. It is the perfect little get away for visiting Hearst Castle or Traveling up/down the Coast. The Beach and a few different dining options are within walking distance.
    Front patio lounging space
The apartment is as close as you can stay to Hearst Castle possible, Hearst Castle state beach is a short drive away known to Locals as "The Cove" because of its low wind and small waves. Elephant Seal retreat is also just a short drive up the highway from us as well, the beach is a breeding ground with 100's of Seals scattered along the sands
  • Spotless, cozy and perfect location

    Jessica2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie’s place was perfect for my family! We could see the ocean and zebras from the front door at the same time- not sure where else that’s a possibility! It was so neat! The location was great, and Maggie was very thoughtful to leave us delicious cookies and notes to help us get acquainted with the space quickly. It was a very comfortable and clean space, too, and the neighbors were so nice. I would gladly stay there again and recommend others give it a try! I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was given the low cost - what a great value!

    Lauren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the location! The apartment was perfect and was stock piled with everything you need! Shower was nice and warm and the entire apartment was clean! Highly recommended!!

    Rachel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie’s place was great! I jokingly commented on the “bates motel” vibe as we parked because the first impression is a little rough (as advertised), but don’t be fooled! Her home is a gem, modern decor, clean and a close drive to Cambria. She is responsive and checkin was easy. We like to travel with our fur babies and also appreciated that she didn’t have the high fees we sometime see. Highly recommend!

  • Great weekend getaway

    Anthony2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great for value. Very close to Hearst Castle. The host extended our check out time to make it more convenient for us.

  • Maggie is a wonderful and responsive host, and you can't beat the location for access to Cambria, Hearst Castle, and day trips to Big Sur. Our five-year-old was thrilled to awake to find a herd of zebras at the fence bordering the property. The exterior of this former motel is a bit worn, but the remodeled interior is crisp and clean.

WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR Travel deep into Carmel Valley and take a step back in time to this rustic, one bedroom apartment. The apartment is a unit in the main cabin, which is part of a small cluster of cabins. This is a remote setting: We are 40 minutes inland from Carmel/Monterey and and two hours away from Big Sur.
The Charles Green apartment is in the main cabin. The main cabin has three units. The Charles Green apartment is a one bedroom suite located between two studio apartments. The living room with an open ceiling, board and bat walls & wood floor, has a cozy couch in front of the stone fireplace & wood stove. There is one queen bed in the bedroom. It has a super firm mattress with a feather bed on top--quite comfy. It's an antique rope bed and very high off the ground. There is a skylight above the over-sized claw-foot bathtub, allowing for great soaks and gazing at the sky and branches of the ancient oak over-head. The kitchen has a vintage gas stove, small refrigerator, and supplies for cooking and baking. The stove is fine for roasting, but very pesky with over heating and not recommended for baking! BUGS & DUST: This is a 90 year old building in the woods. We clean several times a week; we do our best, but it is impossible to keep dust & cob webs 100% out of the space. If you require modern building, dust-free, sealed spaces, then please, please rent some place else.
We are not in Big Sur-- it takes 45 minutes to drive to the coast. The Big Sur coastline begins just south of Carmel. Big Sur proper is another 45 minutes. The Village is twenty miles (35 minute drive) towards the coast. It is only about three or four blocks long, but has at least 20 restaurants, and 15 tasting rooms. For returning visitors: 10/10/16-- General Store served it's last Monday night dinner.
  • Impeccable place to stay. A real gem!

    Michelle2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this cabin! It was a bit cold in late feb/march but they provided tons of firewood for the fire-pit and we were able to cozy up on the couch with a fire. The hosts even left us a delicious bottle of red wine! At night there was some creaking noises which kept us up a bit but overall that can be expected in a cabin setting. 3-4 mins away you can walk to the river which was beautiful! We could hear the water gushing in the background every time we stepped outside. It made the cabin area feel very relaxing. Overall we really enjoyed the stay!

    Chekwume2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia was a great host, and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was cozy and inviting and a wonderful escape from the busyness of city life. It was so special to shower under the skylight and the kitchen was stocked for the home-cooking we try to do even on vacation. Highly recommend a walk down to the river in the morning or a fire in the fire pit on a chilly evening!

  • We had an amazing time in Carmel at the cabin! The surroundings were so beautiful & quaint & getting to warm up by the fire & relax and read was exactly what we were looking for. Everything was perfect, extra touches & thoughtful provisions were over the top, I hope to bring my little one with me next time to do more exploring! Thank you so much Marcia!

  • A simply peaceful home on an idyllic California landscape. This was exactly the right place to disconnect and unwind. There’s nothing like being warmed by only the heat of an oak-filled fireplace for days. Surrounded by ancient mossy oaks and the sound of Carmel river, it’s easy to hear your own thoughts and slow down. We had everything we could possibly need to cook full meals and all other comforts. Marcia even brought us fresh baked cookies one afternoon! Really couldn’t ask for a better getaway.

    Lacy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This rustic cabin can support a peaceful retreat for a few folks!

    Colin2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia's space will take you back in time, to a peaceful place immersed in nature. The cabin is comfortable and clean and there are trails nearby to explore the majestic oak woodlands. The soothing sound of the river is always there to calm you. There are old books and watercolor sets that will allow to to connect with your inner creator. A truly magical place.

  • Gustavo and Lila’s place was sparkling clean and well maintained and Gustavo was very friendly and helpful. Everything was as advertised. The location gives a nice view across the valley and was convenient to Pinnacles national park where we did some great hikes. We would definitely stay here again.

    Lisa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time! The location is perfect (15 minutes from the Pinnacles NP), the room was clean and our host was very helpful. The entrance was as advertised separate from there house, and the check-in was very easy. The room has a bathtub with whirlpool function, which was very nice, there was a telescope in the room we where allowed to use – we could see the moon as there was a clear night during our stay – and there is a fridge, a coffee machine and small table, which allowed us to have a quick breakfast before hiking in the morning. All in all it was the perfect place for us and we would go back in a heartbeat.

    Victoria2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Gustavo and Lila's for a couple nights while visiting Pinnacles National Park — great accessibility to the west entrance of park (~15 min drive). The room was very neat, and the fresh-brewed coffee was much appreciated. The view from the porch was gorgeous, and the bathroom and overall amenities made relaxing after a day of hiking really enjoyable. Gustavo was quick to respond when we contacted him. Overall, a wonderful stay!

    Kanaad2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really beautiful space, both inside the room/apartment and outside in a beautiful setting. Gustavo was an outstanding host, always available and solicitous.

We are right in back of the forest where you will often see deer grazing, turkeys, many types of birds, squirrels, raccoons, just a short distance away or even in the yard! • Difficult to find but a comfy cheap get away. The set up seems to have been done by a lazy host. We found previous tenants trash still there. That said, it's cheaper than anything else nearby and cozy.

  • A quirky place full of character. We loved the birds singing in the tree outside and the flowers. It’s true that it was hard to get a response from Andrew but we followed the directions and address provided and found it really easily. Other issues were solved quickly. A great spot to relax in. Great refrigerator and shower. Comfortable beds.

  • Great experience. Communication with the host was easy and efficient. Cambria is a small quiet beach down. The cell phone signal is limited; however, Brian provides great Wi-Fi. The town slows down around 7:00 pm. There is only one Uber driver available and he was done for the night at 7:00 pm, so we rode local bikes to the room from downtown. Lovely space to spend intimate time with your spouse.

A very peaceful location with a partial view of the ocean. You could hear the sound of the waves during night. There's a small trail by the ocean as well. Would for sure recommend this place.

Quiet and peaceful w/private entry, driveway parking. WiFi, Cable TV, DVDs, Books, Games, Hiking maps, restaurant location and recommendations. Fully loaded kitchenette. Sorry no pets or smoking.
Cozy and warm, has a full size bed that sleeps two comfortably - with pillow top mattress and memory foam. Clean, private, and has everything you need for that perfect for a weekend getaway (honeymooners love our place!) Beautifully decorated in craftsman style, with cable TV and DVD player, WiFi, Bose radio/CD player. There is also a small kitchenette with breakfast supplies.
Gateway to Big Sur, minutes fro Hearst Castle and lovely downtown Cambria. Close to Morro Bay. Wonderful hiking trails abound!! Walk through the woods to the ocean bluffs, with trails leading down to Fiscalini Ranch by the water.
  • This is a great location to get away from it all. The space is very quiet and in a safe location. There is a parking spot literally right outside your door. There are walking trails that go through woods or to the ocean just 2 blocks from the home. I really enjoyed the elephant seal viewing area and hiking areas within 5-20 miles away. Cambria is a really cute town with lots of unique shops and there are several vineyards less than 30 miles away (with several tasting rooms in town). I have nothing but good things to say! Mary Anne is wonderful.

  • Such a great spot! Rick and Susan’s place is close to Main Street Cambria and a cute vineyard. They have amazing amenities and give great suggestions on what to do in the area. The only thing I would say is to be mindful that the space shares a wall with another room. I think my friend and I were “too loud” for the people staying next to us and we got a knock on the wall, which was slightly uncomfortable. But definitely not Rick and Susan’s fault because they were absolutely lovely hosts! Would stay again!

They also had amenities such as wine, chocolates, granola, yogurt and coffee. Their home is less than a five min drive to the heart of downtown Cambria and only two minutes from Hwy One. We would definitely stay there again....and they had two TV’s, and be in the living area and one in the bedroom with Directv and Netflix. You can’t go wrong since it was a good value.

At night the stars look very beautiful. The house was very clean and the room and bathroom were comfortable. They prepared instant cocoa and tea in the room. Trish is very kind and friendly. He talks a lot and recommends restaurants and attractions in Cumbria. I want to return here again.

  • I could not have had a better experience at Karen's place! I have stayed at airbnbs before, but I brought along my parents, who had not. They were really pleased as well, so if you're a first-time airbnb user this is an excellent choice! Karen was very communicative with me and gave helpful directions to find the listing when we first arrived. We had come off a long day of traveling, and when we met Karen at the listing we were warmly welcomed with some delicious pastries from a local bakery! The airbnb is full of thoughtful touches, and we felt right at home during our stay. The airbnb is dog-friendly and I had some initial reservations given my severe allergies. However, I had no issues the entire time! Karen keeps the place very clean - so don't let allergies stop you from booking here. My family and I set up our home base here while exploring up the PCH through Big Sur and the location worked out really nicely. Overall, this is a beautiful and cozy place to stay. If you're looking for a place anywhere near Cambria or even Big Sur, I would highly recommend this one!

  • This was a really lovely place with a grand view of the ocean out the windows. It had many thoughtful, helpful amenities from literature on the area, restaurant listings, directions on use for different appliances, small offerings of goodies, sparkling clean, outfitted kitchen and ample refrigerator. Karen was a delightful and helpful host and even her landscaping and outdoor areas were beautifully diverse and cared for just like her cozy cottage. We’d go back in a nano second! It was home away from home!

  • We loved our stay at the "Cute Cambria Cottage". And it was certainly cute! I loved the spiral staircase up to the second level where there were two very wonderfully appointed rooms. The Cottage was super clean and we had more than everything we needed to make meals and relax after a long day of walking and touring. There is even a private patio with tables and seating to share a cocktail and watch the sun set. Kare and Earl were so wonderful and responsive. Communication was easy and prompt. Karen greeted us when we arrived to show us around the Cottage and ensured us privacy while we were there. Finding a yummy mini Olallieberry pie from Linn's was a wonderful treat and such a lovely touch. We were able to stay with our 4 dogs which was wonderful as it's really hard to find a place that will allow that many. I highly recommend the Cute Cambria Cottage for your stay. We'll definitely be back.

  • Theresa was an excellent host! Easy instructions to get to the house, greeted me warmly when I arrived and everything was perfect - a very comfortable room and bed, a private bathroom, and fresh coffee in the morning. Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short to get back home for a work emergency, but I would definitely stay with Theresa again when I'm in the area!

This beautiful Mid-Century cottage was built using only redwood hearts and offers an "Early California" feeling with its vaulted ceilings and picture windows offering beautiful views. Enjoy easy access to local attractions, town, and the beach from this convenient, location. A spacious deck overlooks the mountains and the yard has fruit trees. Watch the turkeys, deer, and sunsets in this serene, natural setting. The ideal group size is two, but a child or third adult is possible.
My place is perfect for couples, friends traveling together, or small families. If you plan on bringing a child, please contact the Owner first. The property doesn't have a fence, and there are some stairs. A pack 'n' play is available for use.
This neighborhood is called "Lodge Hill," and it is one of Cambria's best locations. The area is quiet, and heavily wooded with Monterey pines. The beach is a quick drive down Aradath, where several public access points are. From here you can access trails for miles of walking or running. Just North, enjoy some of the best beaches in the world including San Simeon Cove.
  • Charming cottage with large windows and great natural lighting. Was wonderful to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the deer, wild turkeys and birds. Very peaceful and enjoyable stay.

  • Sherry's place is warm and inviting and super comfortable and cozy. The location was super quiet at night. So quiet that the buck deer was not startled at all during his nightly visits to come eat apples. Bed is comfortable and Sherry provided lots of little touches that really made us feel welcome. The cabin is super clean as well. Sherry also did a great job communicating with us and made sure all our special requests were handled. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, Cambria and this cabin are a perfect destination.

    Mike2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Sherry’s place. We enjoyed three days of viewing the local wildlife, deer and wild turkeys, from the deck. The evenings were very peaceful. Wonderful to watch the fog roll in over the hills in the evening and melt away in the morning. This is a very peaceful space with nice amenities and comfortable beds. We would love to stay there again! Sherry is a very accommodating and communicative host.

  • We loved our stay at Sherry’s cottage. Great space, perfect for relaxing and hanging out with people we love. Thank you!

  • We had three great nights staying at Redwood Hearts Cottage. The neighborhood is quiet, the beds are super comfy, and the thoughtful touches of fresh coffee, wine and chocolates much appreciated! Ceiling to floor windows in living room (and I the second bedroom which we didn't use) put us right in nature for morning coffee. The kitchen had everything thing needed even though we didn't cook due to all the great restaurants in town. Sherry's communication was immediate when needed (only because we forgot the wifi code was in our booking email). No TV: no problem! We could stream on our computer. Loved, loved, loved this place.

    Karen2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a gem. The pictures do not do the warm and beautiful space justice and the cottage was more spacious than we anticipated. The location is great for accessing the coast, wine tasting, and Big Sur. It felt like home after our first night and we were so sad to leave! The neighborhood is very quiet and we saw more wild animals (turkey, skunks, coyotes) than humans.

  • This cottage is adorable, and very comfortable. Hope to stay here in the future.
