  • We spent Christmas here, the hosts very kindly decorated the house along with a huge Christmas tree, this was really special for us 4 adults and 2 kids. There was tons of room for everyone, 4 places to watch TV which was great for our gang when people needed a break. There is a lovely conservatory that as used allot for reading and just relaxing. The house was clean, warm (very easy to heat) good equipment for cooking, lots of towels and spare bedding, Lorraine called into us to make sure we were OK after checking in, she came with wine and chocolate for Christmas which was lovely, along with local tips. The house in in the village and at the end of a row but because its detached it was private and we did not feel overcrowded. There was a cafe, fast food place and large pub/restaurant directly across the road, we had a meal in the pub which we all enjoyed and not overly expensive. There is a beautiful harbour on the lake which is less than 10 mins walk which we really enjoyed. We had a fantastic Christmas here and hope do do so again, we highly recommend a holiday here thumbs up!!!

  • This is a beautiful home in a wonderful location within walking distance of all the amenities in one of the prettiest villages in Ireland. It is a very large house which would suit a large or two small families. Some of the appliances are a little tired, but otherwise highly recommended. Lorraine was extremely helpful- we were due to arrive about 8.00 on Friday evening, and as the restaurants in the local pubs were closing at 8.45, Lorraine kindly suggested when we phoned ahead that we should eat first before checking in

  • Dermot's house is perfect for a large group. It is close to some nice pubs or has plenty of space to relax in the house. Would highly recommend.

    Claire2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Well what can I say Dermots home far exceeded our expectations and its listing. This home was much better equipped than my own, there was nothing we needed that wasn't available. Lovely quiet village, very quaint and everywhere was so clean and well kept. Very comfortable home and extremely spacious, there were 7 adults in our party and ample room and facilities for us all. Dermot was very prompt responding to the queries I sent ahead of our trip. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay and would highly recommend Dermots home for a group of adults or families. It's a place I would definetly go back to again.

    Chris2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended accommodation - extremely clean and well appointed with all required facilities, especially well appointed kitchen - in a charming village with excellent amenities. Would definitely book again. Michael

  • Beautiful place comfortable and clean. Michael and Nicola are very nice and very helpful. We had a great time even though we had booked with very little notice. Beautiful and comfortable rooms where you can relax in full relax. Dogs at home are fabulous affectionate and always ready to welcome you when you return. Absolutely to try

    Marco2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola and Michael were fantastic hosts. The communication before hand was great. When we arrived we had a great reception from the 2 dogs. They are lovely. There was bread and milk left for us on arrival, to make a snack and have a cuppa. Toys were left out for our Son, which was a really nice touch. The accommodation was really clean. Michael and Nicola couldn't have made us feel more welcome. They have lots of outdoor activities for children, which we didn't make the most of. We invited Michael in for a chat and glass of wine on one evening, which was a great. We look forward to see their future plans for the place when we return. Thanks again for being great hosts.

  • Outstanding hospitality at this country retreat. Hosts were fantastic, apartment was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Our favourite part of the experience was going for a walk around the property in the morning with their two lovely dogs. Hosts even provided rubber boots for the walk! I would highly recommend staying here

    Grace2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely sweet family. We are a regular Airbnb travelers and would rate Michael and Nicola’s place as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. The place was very clean and had everything we needed to feel at home, and was in perfect location when you coming back from West Coast to Dublin. Communication was great too. We would highly recommend this wonderful apartment.

  • Small independent house very clean and very quiet in a very nice atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed: one bathroom per room, a single kitchen and breakfast included. Thank you so much !

  • Great house, friendly hosts who couldn't do enough for us. Only negative thing was the duvet tog was very heavy and therefore very hot at night. If you're a person always feeling the cold, then this isn't an issue. Thank you guys.

  • Really great house in lovely little village. So clean and spacious. Everything of a high standard. Michael our host was just next door if we needed him. Lots of little extras provided. Location is great. Lots to do in the area. Would definitely return.

  • Michael's place is "home from home". It is spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Michael met with us and gave us much information about the area. The huge shed was a bonus to store our bicycles and scooters in. You can walk to the restaurants, pubs and shop. We highly recommend Michael's place. Dromod is a lovely picturesque village.

  • This is a really cute house with loads of character! The house is sparkling clean and very well maintained; the photos don’t really do it justice. It is very spacious - we had more than enough space for a family of 4 and a nanny for 3 weeks. I would highly recommend Michael’s house and look forward to returning.

    Nessa2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and his home are amazing. We felt like we were in the middle of an Irish fairy tale. Michael welcomed us warmly and gave us the lay of the land. We spend a fantastic few days exploring. His home is immaculately clean and he even left us some tea, milk and welcoming snacks. It was a wonderful multi-generational vacation. We were lucky to all be together in such a beautiful space.

My house is in a gated development, and has a beautiful view of the river Shannon. Dromod is a small, picturesque village with many Tidy Town awards to its name and has an inland waterways public harbour. It is halfway between Longford and the beautiful Carrick-on- Shannon. The guest bedroom (4.80mx3.50) is comfortably furnished, carpeted, with a garden view. Guests will have the use of a private bathroom, opposite the bedroom, with a whirlpool bath, shower and toilet (not en-suite). Peaceful!
My home is an oasis of peace and quiet, with nature and the river Shannon part of the landscape. It reflects my love of travel, and the life and culture of an island, as well as Central Europe. The perfect place to find escape from the busy-ness of everyday life, an anti-dose to the hectic city environment.
My house is in a gated, residential area. A lot of green spaces, a harbour on the river Shannon, and peace and tranquillity are the main features. It is only a 5-minute walk to the village, where there are pubs/restaurants, a supermarket, and a train station, linking Dublin with Sligo, on the Atlantic coast. Local people are welcoming and helpful.
  • Highly recommend,so homely in every way, with Fab hostess.

  • Karla has a great house, and it has great decor. We thoroughly recommend it. It is sparkling clean, with a very comfy bed and a large bedroom, and it's great to have a bathroom to yourselves. The house has a great view over the Shannon. We went to Cox's Bar for a meal which was great quality and very friendly. It's only a 10 minute stroll away. If we're passing through the middle of Ireland again we would definitely stay with Karla. Fiona and Michael

  • Our stay at Maria’s property was most enjoyable. The house is very tastefully decorated and sparking clean. The beds are very comfortable with lovely linen and all amenities work perfectly. It had everything we needed travelling with a 2 and 6 year old. Maria was extremely hospitable and welcoming and I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay in Leitrim.

  • As described. Lovely space for a getaway, within walking distance of the town. Wanted a quiet spot to relax for a few nights and would highly recommend. Scones, milk tea and coffee waiting for us on arrival. Very quick responses from Maria at all times throughout the booking and even when we had arrived. Would definetly return, perfect for 2 couples or small group of friends.

  • I'd like to thank Maria for our lovely relaxing stay in her beautiful home over the Easter w-end. I stayed with my wife, two kids (4 & 2) and we had a great time, the house was gorgeous and more spacious than expected. Dromod is a lovely village and the house was within 5 minutes walk from the 3 pubs/ restaurants and harbour. Maria was very helpful and everything about our stay was just what we were looking for. I'd highly recommend Maria as a host.

  • Maria & Des’s place was absolutely outstanding! A stunningly restored Georgian building with everything and more needed for a relaxing break! Thank you for the delicious and very welcomed homemade scones which we thoroughly enjoyed with the tea, milk and raspberry jam also thoughtfully left for us! Definitely the best hosts and accommodation we have had the pleasure of staying in on Air BnB. As Mr Schwarzenegger says ‘we will most definitely be back’! Thank you Maria & Des 🙏

  • My family (2 adults & 3 kids) had an amazing stay in Warren Lodge over the Halloween period. The house itself is beautifully presented and so comfortable. It's within very easy reach of Carrick on Shannon and Lough Key Forest Park. The two pubs within the village both serve great food with the best kids menu I've come across in a while. On arrival Maria had very kindly baked fresh scones which was a lovely touch and went down well. I'd highly recommend Warren Lodge it has a lot to offer.

    Suzanne2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Maria's place. Not only is she a pleasant and helpful host, the accomodation is exceptionally clean and well appointed. One of the most comfortable places I have ever stayed.

Our house is situated 2 minutes walk from the local train station which will take you to Dublin city centre. We are located in the middle of a picturesque village which has been awarded silver at this year’s (2015)Entente Florale Competition.
Amidst this village is a beautiful marina, many local gastro pubs, (Cox's being our favourite), mini market , hair and beauty salon and an organic produce store. We love the village for its charm and special atmosphere... It is a great base to see the West of Ireland, with lots of places to see within an hours drive from the house. To list but a few: Lough Key Forest Park (super for children of all ages), Arigna Mines(working coal mine until recently). Lough Rynn Castle( a must to see), Carrick on Shannon ( a buzzy town with lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, leisure centre, bowling, cinema to name but a few) Lough Alan adventure centre, Richmond Harbour, Strand Hill ( for the surf lovers). Boyle (for the farmers market), Tarmonbarry (for Keenan's Bar & Restaurant and The Purple Onion Restaurant), The Shannon Blue Way(guided and unguided paddling and walking along the Lough Allen Canal and Shannon River from Carrick–on Shannon via Leitrim Village and Battlebridge to Drumshanbo.
  • Stylish, comfortable and spacious house that is well located for day trips to explore the surrounding sights. Three pubs, two of which have nice restaurants, in walking distance so that was a plus as there’s not much more to do in the village. No internet was a bit of a downside , other than that, great place for our family holiday.

    Eileen2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable, clean home, close to train, shop, restaurants- House is in a small housing estate, neighbourhood lovely and quiet- plenty of kitchen equipment and plenty of utensils- Thought we didn’t meet- Catherine responded quickly to anything we needed - The rest of our (grownup children) gang missed not having SKY tv and WiFi but I found it a pleasure- I would recommend Catherine’s home to anyone who would love to explore Lovely Leitrim

  • Lovely spacious house very clean and tidy with all the little extras you would expect. Good communication throughout and advice on things to do locally. Great little find!

    Nicola2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here in August with 2 adults and 4 teenagers. The house was ideal for us plenty of space, very short walking distance to the village/ shop/ resteraunts/ waterfront/pubs/playground. Also only 15 mins drive to CarrickOn Shannon or Longford. Would also be great for families with younger kids or couples. Drumond is a lovely picturesque village. We also did a half day kayaking on the lakes with a guide- great fun. Catherine herself was always very quick to respond to any questions . No hesitation at all recommending this lovely home and area.

    Aisling2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine’s place and her hospitality weee fantastic. She helped us to navigate some of the difficulties of being in Ireland like M50 tolls and finding the best spots to grab a pint. Dromod is off the beaten path with a handful of authentic pubs with long easy walking distance. A beautiful part of the country and driving distance to practically anywhere in the country! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Nathan2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible house, very big, nice and clean. It was full of details. Perfect heated. The localization was also very good. Everything is reachable. Catherine help us in what ever we need. Sorry we were not able to meet her personally. Absolutely recommended.

Welcome to Dún Beag Haven, a comfy quirky cottage in the heart of the Irish countryside, a few miles outside the boating village of Roosky, Roscommon. Surrounded by wildlife and 14 acres of meadowland for kids and pets (and grown-ups!) to explore, with a secluded green harbour just a few minutes stroll from the back of the garden. Private, peaceful and safe, this property is perfect for families, couples or groups of friends looking to escape the city for a relaxing holiday in the countryside.
Dún Beag means "little fort" in Irish, and a few nights in this Haven will certainly fortify your heart and soul. The beautiful peaceful holiday home includes 3 bedrooms, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, large living/dining room, and a comfortable parlour with DVDs, books and games, and a working fireplace for extra comfort (natural turf is provided). With a large patio space and garden, and 14 acres of wild meadowland to explore, the property is also ideal for kids and pets. There is also a private harbour just a few minutes stroll down the field, a lovely quiet spot to relax by the water. Check out @dunbeaghaven on Facebook and Instagram for regular updates and photos.
The property is located in a very quiet rural area, surrounded by fields and wildlife. The nearest village is Roosky, about a 10 minute drive away. There you will find a few bustling riverside pubs, and a well-stocked Centra store for essentials. We are also within just a half hour drive from other neighbouring towns such as Strokestown, Roscommon, Longford and Carrick-on-Shannon.
  • The landlord is very welcoming and can experience traditional Irish country life here.

    Jian2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dún Beag is indeed a haven. Myself and two friends from collage met and had such a lovely time in the cottage. We lit the fire in the sitting room after having a beautiful meal in a nearby restaurant and sat chatting into the wee hours. Next morning we had a delicious breakfast out on the patio and felt so relaxed and revitalized after our time together. The quietness was amazing and Jessica our host was so warm and welcoming. We plan to return to Dún Beag .

    Berni2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place. Jessica goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Wish we could have stayed longer so we could use the firepit and play some of the cool boardgames :)

    Steph2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Jessica's place! 3 of us came from Connemara, Wicklow and County Laois so we could meet up and have a reunion which we do twice a year. The location was perfect for us. It's in a beautiful part of rural Ireland with great walks nearby. Jessica told us how to get to Derrycarne Woods which is so lovely to walk through. The lounge was perfect - very comfortable sofas and an open fire. Other places we have been to ended up being too big or too cold or with uncomfortable seating but Jessica's home was perfect. We didn't want a TV and didn't even play any DVDs. There were nice touches too - a hot water bottle, fresh flowers, products in the bathroom, real turf for the fire - made us feel very welcome. In the summer Jessica's place would be particularly beautiful because of the patio and open spaces around the house for sitting out. Jessica lives right next door and was right on hand if we had any queries. She told us about Harkins cafe, about 10 mins drive away which we visited twice - great food, great music, books to look at and a great atmosphere. One of our party immediately rebooked Jessica's cottage for another reunion she is having in July. We will definitely be back now we have found Jessica's place! No need to look for anywhere else again. Thanks Jessica!

    Geraldine2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica was extremely helpful and was always available to answer any questions we had. The cottage is located ina very peaceful and tranquil location and is ideal for all who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Jessica had a great collection of CD's and whilst there are no TV channels there are DVDs, games and plenty of books to keep everybody entertained in the evenings.

    Donal2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The whole family had a great time for our too-short stay at the cottage. Including the dogs who had many adventures in the meadows. There is plenty of land with the cottage. Bring your wellies as it can be marshy. We brought a kayak too and all the gear as there is a small harbour and jetty from where you can paddle down a short cutting and find yourself out with the swans on beautiful lakes connected to the Shannon. You can also fish from the jetty; our 11 year old landed a whopper! We were blessed with the weather so spent most time out and about but there is plenty of room in the cottage and it is well equipped for any rainy days or evenings in ; everything you need in the small kitchen, plus a big dining room and a big sitting room with lots of DVDs books and board games. Jessica was a brilliant host and gave us a fantastic welcome and all the neighbours we talked to while out walking the dogs on the quiet country lane were super friendly too. Great spot. We will return.

    Eddie2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cottage - we’ve been before and this stay was just as nice as the last. The house is very cosy and fully equipped with everything you need (and more!). Our dog was welcome too, which was fab. Jessica is an excellent host - we hope to return again in the future!

From top to bottom; check-in; hospitality; cleanliness; great tips on where to go and what to see; and not to mention the most beautiful serene views from our rooms; just stunning. Rose and John provided not only a wonderful house but made our holiday as memorable as could be. I plan to return to this lovely home next year to do it all again. Just Fantastic! I would definitely recommend my family and friends to stay here.

  • Travelled with a group of 8 friends and a toddler to Albertine Lodge and it was a perfect stay. The location was very easy to find. The size of the house comfortably fit all of us and had all the facilities we needed. It was freezing outside but the house was extremely well heated. The hosts were very quick at replying to queries we had over the whole weekend. They even accommodated early check in and late check out as it suited the needs of some of the guests. Highly recommend. Thanks again Francis and Fiona!

  • We went here for an extended family weekend - 6 adults and 4 little kids. It was such a lovely stay. The house is perfectly laid out. Fiona and Francis were so attentive and responsive. Great value, great location, great hosts. Can’t recommend it enough

  • Great house with everything you could need. A lovely break for a bunch of friends.

  • This is an amazing place to stay. My friends and I spent the weekend at Albertine Lodge, during Storm Ciera, and it couldnt have been more cosy and welcoming. Fiona and Francis made sure we were warm and the fire was well-stoked. It's a very beautiful, traditional home. The sort of place I've dreamed of all my life. I would recommend it highly.

  • We had a fabulous weekend get together with some friends here. Lovely house and areas, very nice owners and would (hope to) definitely come back.

  • Gorgeous house, spotlessly clean and loads of room. We got mini bus into Carrick for one night and were given great recommendations for restaurant and local pubs. Would definitely recommend the house and the fantastic hosts who were more than helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay!!

    Gillian2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect. It is even bigger than we expected with loads of bedrooms and toilets, a very cosy sitting room, and a huge open kitchen/dining area. The location is really close to a few towns so you are near anything you might need. The best part about the experience was the hosts - they thought of absolutely everything (e.g. they had the fire on and kettle boiled for us when we arrived, they made books of suggestions for anything you could need), and were really easy to contact when needed. Overall, the cleanliness and attention to detail was on par with any hotel, but it was also a very cosy, homey space. Will definitely be back!

  • The Albertine Lodge was a beautiful home just 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Carrick-on-Shannon. We were a family of 7 so it provided everyone with their own rooms and plenty of room to hang out in as well. Lovely accommodations and very clean. Francis and Fiona left local goodies for us upon our arrival. Francis went above and beyond in providing us with suggestions of things to do in the area, as well as being readily available for any questions we had. We had an amazing time and only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The house was so big, and there were 14 of us, it was so warm and welcoming. The sun room overlooking the lake was such a bonus. The kitchen facilities were second to none. The house was warm throughout, we stayed there on three very cold February nights. I couldn’t fault the place in any way. Minor problem with wifi which was fixed in less than five minutes. Wonderful hosts and a pleasure to talk to on the phone. Do yourself a favour, stay here for as long as you can.

    Dave2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with our group of friends and children. The house is very well equipped, spacious and was warm on a cold December weekend. Some lovely extra touches like Christmas trees and decorations.

    Áine2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spacious house. Worked perfectly for our family get together (14 of us). Quick responses from the owner to all queries before arrival.

    Orla2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • I spent the weekend here with my family of 11 adults at the end of September 2019. The house is exactly as pictures on website, very spacious and clean. It feels so private and tranquil in this home and the grounds surrounding it are gorgeous. Our family stayed in and cooked both nights so we're very thankful to see a double oven. I would recommend having a car if you are staying here to get around. Everybody in my family loved this house and have already talked about coming back again in the summer when the weather is better as it would be the perfect place for a summer bbq. Thank you to Jody and John who were the perfect hosts and kept in touch constantly, from the point of booking till check out. They even allowed us to bring our dogs with us which is very hard to find these days. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone.

    Margaret2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place for a large group of people. The lake makes the house extra special!

    Marta2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts and a fabulous place. Very scenic setting beside the big pond! Location is ideal if you want to be in the country side, only 20 mins by car to Carrick-on-shannon and some nice wee villages close by.

    Kelly2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Herons Rest for two nights, a large family group with adults and children for a family get together. We loved our stay, the house was warm and so comfortable, and well designed for a large group. All communication was excellent and the place was spotless. The bathrooms in particular were fantastic and a big hit with all. As John predicted we spent most of our time in the conservatory watching fish jumping and the resident heron popping in. We all agreed this place was something very special. Thanks John and Jody for a wonderful stay, we could not recommend this place enough!!

    Liz2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Having never used Airbnb to rent housing in the past, I was a bit skeptical of what I might be getting into. The pictures of the house were beautiful but I was not sure that the house would live up to the pictures. Well, I was so wrong. Jody's house is everything the pictures express. Beautiful, welcoming, comfortable and spacious. The water feature offers a relaxing addition and the location is both rural and convenient. Located very close to the N4, meant that access to Carrick-on-Shannon, Longford Town and even Mohill was so easy. Roosky is a lovely picturesque spot in its self where one can enjoy the peaceful views of the Shannon river from one of the pubs while eating lunch or drinking a pint. I would recommend this house and Jody to anybody. Worth every penny and then some.

  • Immaculate place to stay in the countryside! Beautifully kept rooms and all the modern conveniences provided. Nicola and Michael are very warm and welcoming! They had great tips for dinners out, provided us with wellies for walking about their land, and made sure we were comfortable. The setting is serene and relaxing!! It was a great “home base” for doing genealogy work in neighboring counties, and is well situated for great day trips. The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals. Thanks!!

  • Mary's apartment is clean, spacious, warm & comfy. It is wonderful value for money and would easily accommodate a small family.

  • Ideal spot if you need to stay in Mohill, I stayed with my wife and child but would be great for a group. Very centrally located, spotlessly clean. Right beside the shops and check in and out was easy.

    John2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation location at AirBnB is not correct, but the owners come to look for you and accompany you to the accommodation. The reception by Mary is friendly. Very clean bedding, and comfortable bed. Very spacious room To give you an idea, it's a kind of shelter, attached to the main house. there are 2 rooms that are rented, bathrooms and shower are shared. There is also a kitchen, but it is not comfortable to use, since it only has a fridge and kettle. There is no bucket for trash, no sink, no microwave. So it only serves to take a tea with a cookie. It was our last night in Ireland, and it was very comfortable to have a lot of space to pack.

    Denys2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was a friendly and accommodating host who made our stay very comfortable. She went out of her way to help and we found her place to be spotlessly clean.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Mary in Mohill. The apartment is a converted creche and has two family rooms. Our room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The shower was also good and we used the facility of the dining area to have breakfast. The apartment is clean, spacious and private and good value for money. I would definitely recommend staying with Mary who was very helpful to us.
