Dumfries and Galloway dark skies park is a stunning location to get away from it all. Based on our eco friendly off grid small holding, the yurt is solar powered and has a wood burning stove, shower room and composting toilet. The yurt has a double bed and three singles (all with down duvets) so sleeps 4 x1 or 1x2 and 3x1 we don't charge a cleaning fee, so what you see is what you pay!! The chemical free, DIY hottub is very private and for the exclusive use of our guests.
Galloway yurts is a solar powered traditional mongolian yurt situated in our meadow on our off grid sustainable small holding near Kirkcowan, south west Scotland. warm, private, comfortable and self contained, it is an ideal place to kick back and get back to nature. The yurt has a gas hob and a well equipped cooking area, a wood burning stove and 12vt power for lighting and charging phones and tablets. One double bed and three bunks all made up and ready to go, there is a shower room and composting toilet, also a barbecue and picnic bench for summer out side cooking and eating, and an outside fireplace for keeping warm whilst stargazing! the first load of Wood for the stove is free through the winter months and from spring to autumn can be purchased from us (but please feel free to bring your own), please bring your own charcoal and torch. The yurt has fantastic views all round and has an open aspect, perfect for viewing the night sky and watching the sunset, you may share the meadow with sheep and sometimes horses, if you want the horses out of the field this is not a problem we are happy to move them. There is plenty of space for kids to roam and a small stream behind the yurt is ideal for kids to splash around in and for keeping drinks cool. The chemical free hottub (subject to water availability) is ideal after a day of walking in the galloway hills, mountain biking, local sightseeing or chilling out at the yurt. The tub is wood fired and you are responsible for starting and keeping the fire going, ( this generally takes about four hours) if you need a hand to get you started just ask. As the hottub is wild water and chemical free we clean and refill it for each set of guests, for this and enough wood to heat it for two nights we charge £25.00. Additional nights are £5.00 per night for the wood. please contact us to book the hottub and for more information
miles of unspoilt coast line. great walking and cycling. peaceful with amazing dawn chorus. and fantastic starry nights.
  • Something we looked out for when choosing a air BnB was being able to get to it without a car yet still being in the depths of nature ! Which is definitely possible through bus + taxi! Its even a magical stay even when all there is is chilling inside of the yurt during a storm! All you need is friends, wine and games! We thoroughly enjoyed cooking and dancing in the yurt, would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of booking. Alison is the most loveliest host, thank you !xxx

  • Wonderful place away, the hot tub was fab and the yurt really cosy and comfy even in a storm.

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience in a perfect location. The Yurt is beautiful and warm, even during storm Ciara we were really cosy. The outdoor hut tub is definitely worth the effort, it’s lovely and cosy in a tranquil setting. We weren’t very lucky with the weather but it didn’t hamper our trip and on the final night we had clear skies. We’ve never seen so many stars. Lovely welcoming host. We’ll definitely return.

  • We had a beautiful stay in the yurt. Warm welcome. Excellent fun setting up the hot tub. Relaxation and bliss at its best.

  • A friend and I had a lovely stay in the yurt, was nice and cozy and we had a great time in the hot tub. Even had some clear skies for stargazing 😊

  • An incredible spot to get away from it all - a cosy rural spot perfect for chilling out and some spectacular landscapes. Couldn't have asked for a more amazing time, from the sunsets/rises to the amazing hot tub and the sustainability of the whole yurt. All topped up with excellent hosts. An all round spectacular few days, wish it could have been longer! Thank you Alison and Brett!

  • A wonderful offgrid experience, would highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect for a few days. The Yurt is cosy and warm, even in winter.

3 bedroom masionette flat near shore front in Stranraer. Car park to rear and bus stop at front. Fully furnished and has sky tv and wifi. Its a five minute walk to the beach and to local amenities. You have great views across the Loch and countryside . My place is close to nightlife, public transport, and parks. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, workmen and families (with kids). We welcome everyone.
  • After initial disappointment with the exterior appeal of the property, the inside was great. Home from home and very clean. Unfortunately we had to leave due to a boiler breakdown. The host dealt with the issue immediately and was concerned about our welfare and very apologetic. He organised an immediate full refund. Will definitely return when the boiler is sorted.

  • I stayed here for Christmas week and it was exactly what I needed, a real home away from home where I could relax in a warm comfortable quiet home. There was everything I could need to cook, the wifi was great and sky tv was an added bonus. Thank you Paul.

    Jane2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Was a great spot for us. Although we didn't get to meet Paul we had no problems getting in and communication was quick and easy. Relaxing spot with amazing views and short walk to loch Ryan. Clean and comfortable.

    Gary2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and modern inside. Very warm! Surroundings wasn't as expected but the flat was spacious modern and clean. Handy parking and short drive to centre of town (3 mins or a 20min walk).

    Sandy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A great flat inside with lovely views, great value and short walk from the town. All clean and well decorated.

  • We had booked for a month stay and at the last minute, I became too ill to fly from USA to UK. Paul had to be kept updated and I'm sure this was a pain to deal with but he was very patient and communicative. When we finally did arrive, it was a relief. We had a lot of luggage since we sold everything we own and all of our earthly belongings are in our luggage and we plan to be gypsies for at least a year. The exterior of the building was not much to look at and there are two flights of stairs so I was a little concerned, but once we got inside Paul's apartment, we felt right at home. It is quite spacious and I liked the choice of soft or firm pillows and I liked the mattress in the good sized master bedroom. We especially enjoyed the view of the loch on one side and the view of pastures on the other side. The location was very good for us. We liked that we could walk or take the bus into town but were not right in the middle town since we prefer quiet and privacy. We also enjoyed the walks along the bay which could be accessed from some stairs across the street. We did not have a car for the entire time and it was fine getting around. We took a taxi if we had to grocery shop on rainy days. We just took the bus or walked into town for the rest and it's a nice walk along the water into town. People who like a lot of sightseeing may want a car. The nearest place to rent a car is across the bay where the ferry goes to Belfast and the bus goes there. We never needed a car since we just ended up resting for me to recover from my illness and only left Stranrauer twice - once to see Portpatrick and the other time was to see Kennedy Gardens. We took the bus to Portpatrick and that was easy. To Kennedy Gardens, we took a taxi (cost for RT was 14 lbs) and those are both places I highly recommend for visitors. The apartment was well equipped even for a stay as long as ours was. with plenty of towels, linens, soap, a vacuum cleaner, etc... We enjoyed the energy vibe, it felt like home to us , and we actually felt sad that we had to leave at the end of our stay. Thanks Paul.

    Anna2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay! Kitchen/dining on the lower level and bathroom and three bedrooms on the upper level. The kitchen had all of the basics (salt, pepper, etc). Short walk to the park (less than 5 mins) and Tesco (around 15 mins). I was very happy with my decision to stay here for the week (as, I believe, my traveling companions were) and, if I were in Stranraer again, I would definitely stay here again.

    Andrew2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s place was a convenient spacious and lovely place to stay with very comfortable bedding. We had more then enough room. I did not think there were that much stairs even though he said must be able to climb stairs. We made it just fine after we brought up our luggage. I would recommend this place!

  • A gem of a place, well worth the miles to get there. Harry and Julie are indeed superhosts ....highly recommend staying here. I'd like to go back often!

    Sheila2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Please book this gem of caravan. It is so amazing. Our kids loved it and it was so private and peaceful. We will definitely return.

    Vanessa & Michael2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We came with our 2 kids (6 and 8) and our 2 dogs and it couldn't have been more perfect! The beach is a stones throw away, actually felt like our own private beach as we never saw anyone. The garden is perfect for sunbathing and plenty of space for kids and dogs to play, glad we brought lunge leads for the dogs as there are neighbouring cows that like to visit! Loads to do and see nearby, we loved the Mull of Galloway. Harry and Julie were perfect hosts, so kind to us all. The kids loved feeding the chickens and my daughter suddenly developed a taste for dippy eggs after trying the fresh ones! Can't thank you guys enough for your hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again!

    Linsey2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The caravan is situated in a beautiful location, short walk to the beach. We stayed there for 3 days and we felt like we had our own private beach. The bluebells surrounding the caravan were lovely, reminded me of my late sister, Bluebell. The place is very close to a dog friendly pub up the hill and half hour drive to Stranraer. So many places to see, Port of Galloway lighthouse, Dunskey Castle, Trinity' Church of Stranraer, Botanical Garden - to name just a few of them. We will be back for sure! :) Dani, Tony and Mojo 🐾

    Dani2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dear Harry & Julie Thank you for a fabulous stay. The location was perfect , so lovely and quiet. Our few days left us feeling like we had been away much longer. It was so nice of you to see if we had settled in and if there was anything you could do for us . Please also thank your chickens for the lovely eggs 😀

With stunning views across Luce Bay the lodge is set in a peaceful coastal location with woodland to the rear; a footpath provides a short walk to the beach for seal watching and to enjoy all the other the sealife.
The Lodge provides luxury accommodation for a perfect romantic getaway in a cosy traditional gate lodge. The lodge has been renovated and finished to the highest of standards with hardwood floors and doors throughout matching and retaining the original character of this listed building. The sitting room has an attractive open fire making this a cosy base from which to explore the South Rhins Peninsula with its superb beaches, which are within easy reach, together with coastal walks. The lodge is in the grounds of 18th Century Ardwell House and guests have access to the estate grounds and gardens which are a popular attraction due to their exotic flora, walled garden, ponds and enchanting woodland walks. The estate is also able to offer guests fishing on the estate's loch which is stocked with rainbow trout. There are numerous activities available in the area and two not to be missed are the Mull of Galloway lighthouse, which sits on top of 300-foot cliffs with views of Ireland and the Isle of Man and the world-famous Logan Botanical Garden. The garden, one of six open to the public in this small area, is of particular note due to the varied species and specimens supported due to the mild climate that the area has from the effect of the Atlantic Gulf Stream. The local villages of Sandhead, Portpatrick and Port William are all worth exploring with deserted sandy or pebble beaches making for an enjoyable day out. The bustling fishing village of Portpatrick is not to be missed with a good variety of places to eat most with outside seating overlooking the picturesque harbour and further afield Wigtown, Scotland's national Book Town is a must for book lovers. The lodge makes for a wonderful holiday base either for relaxing in the cosy sitting room, enjoying the outside decking area in the beautiful garden or for getting out and about to enjoy the glorious scenery. A new path has been created meaning the Lodge is less than 200 yards' walk from the shore of Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway coastal walk. The "back shore" has views looking over to Ireland, the shore with its cliffs and sandy bays such as Ardwell Bay is only three miles away. The quiet roads make it an ideal location for a country drive whilst for those wanting more strenuous activities the 7Stanes Mountain Bike Routes are also not far away in the Forestry Commission's Galloway Forest Park. If you live in a town you will be amazed by how bright the stars are on a clear night and you can enjoy them from the garden of the lodge whilst enjoying a glass of complimentary wine. This superb en-suite bed sitting room is separate, open to the garden and feels very comfortable. It has amenities for you to be self catering during your stay. I provide teas, coffee etc and breakfast items of your choice. There is not a separate kitchen but washing up facilities are available. Stranraer hosts great events on this beautiful Scottish coast and near the Cairnryan/Ireland ferry. The space suits those looking for longer term lodging eg. someone working /studying here.
This room has its own entrance through the garden which has mature trees for shade, shelter and privacy. There are areas for wildlife and fruit and vegetables. The path to the entrance is paved and there are steps up to it. If you cannot manage steps the front door is sloped. It is an ensuite room with single bed and small sofa bed. Most suits a single traveller or one traveling with an understanding friend or child. Two small children could be accommodated on the small sofa bed but doubt it would suit two adults.
This is a residential area of Stranraer but close to lovely hills and a short 5 minutes walk to the beach and loch. It takes 20minutes to walk into town. The town centre has some fabulous places to enjoy coffee and meals from posh to great fish and chips. A local hotel has a swimming pool and fitness suite. There is a great municipal swimming and sport facility too. This is the undiscovered gem of Scotland with great beaches, lighthouses, sea food restaurants, walks. The Mountains of Mourne put in an appearance often from the coast looking to the Emerald Isle.
  • Isobel's Airbnb was so handy, we arrived on the ferry from Ireland at 2am. Isobel left out the key in a lock box. Also the snacks and breakfast food was great to have in the morning. Overall very clean and comfy (even the fold-out bed). The fold out bed took us a few minutes to figure out but I think that was our fault because of our 2 am brains!

    Audrey2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Isobel's place is very comfortable, a little self catering flat. Very reasonable. I booked for a friend and she thought it was the best. Milk and juice, tea and coffee etc all provided and easy to walk to from the town. My friend was absolutley impressed and said Isobel was a very friendly and helpful host. She would recommend 100%. Thank you Isobel.

  • Great place to stay. I was running the Southern Upland Way so ideally located for that. Everything you need is provided by Isobel. Great host.

  • An economical, small but well appointed room with bathroom - and a very nice host.

    Bob2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed just one night, but would happily have stayed longer. Isobel is a kind and thoughtful host.

    Carol2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, very relaxed, great communications, lovely place to stay, felt at home straight away

    Christian2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at isobel’s place before getting the ferry to Ireland. It was perfectly placed for a wander into Stranraer in the evening, and a short drive to the ferry. It was peaceful, exceptionally clean and a lovely environment for a stop over. It was a shame I couldn’t stay longer. Isobel had included many thoughtful touches, even hot chocolate and real coffee. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend .

    Linda2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host, met us at the door to show us the space. Great private room with our own exterior entrance, best shower of the trip, and her breakfast nook saved us from having to brave the Scottish weather (it was a particularly blustery morning)! Turned a last-minute stop for the night into a place we wish we’d stayed longer.

  • Dairy farm is a beautiful little gem. We couldn't have asked for a more hospitable host in Tracey. We genuinely can't recommend her, or her home enough.

    Helen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Second time of staying here and just as lovely as the first. Spotlessly clean and so warm and cosy after being out all day on the bike. Lovey added touches such as eggs and bits and bobs in the fridge plus coffee etc.

    Sadie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Easy to find but tucked away in a quiet spot in a beautiful area. Tracey was very friendly and welcoming and provided everything we needed for our overnight stay. Dairy Cottage was very clean, warm and comfortable and we especially enjoyed the home made biscuits and the fresh eggs. Had we been able to stay longer we would have also tucked into the home made jam! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will stay again if we're in the area.

  • Amazing place! Lovely hosts! Can’t get much better! 10/10

  • Yet another great stay at this unit. Very handy for exploring the local area and a great play to stay when you have the early ferry to Larne the next day. Definitely will come back.

    Andrew2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Compact cosy cottage obviously recently updated, and continuing to be so. Comfortable and warm. Tracey and Jerry, the hosts very pleasant and friendly and let us get on with our stay without bother. Nice touches with cereals, tea and coffee, bread, butter, milk and juice all provided on arrival at no extra charge.

    Nick2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent facilities and outstanding personal touches including home made brownies and jam. Excellent location for Cairnryan ferry etc

    Sandra2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay if using the ferry to or from Ireland. It is on the main road but set well down the driveway we didn't notice any noise from the road. Very quiet, very clean, modern neat and tidy place with nice touches around. Great for dogs as they have an enclosed courtyard with seating and astro turf. Tracey kept in touch very well and gave great instructions on how to find it. We will be using this again.

  • What a wonderful house! Didn't want to leave. Not only does the house have everything you could possibly need, it is quite simply stunning and the history of the renovation just makes it even more special. We enjoyed long walks by day and evenings by the fire. Bliss.

    David2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Precinct House was just about the nicest cottage we have stayed in, the house itself was perfect, the furnishings & Antiques were amazing, and the Peat fire was so welcoming at the end of a chilly day. we had never been to this part of Scotland before, and found it just as enchanting as anywhere else we had been, the people were so welcoming , the local pubs ( Steampacket Inn ) were exceptional we will definitely be coming back

  • Ruth and her husband were fantastic hosts, making us feel very welcome throughout our stay providing loads of local tips and insights. The no-fuss DIY(ish) breakfast was excellent and suited our needs perfectly. A lovely, cosy room with all the amenities made our stay an absolute pleasure. Really good location for exploring the whole of the Rhins of Galloway within a few days. We'll definitely be going back!

  • Ruth and Bert were very helpful and friendly. Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended. Make sure you get full directions from Ruth before you set off. Google maps took us to a cottage with the same name one mile north where there was no mobile signal. Bert and Ruth were very helpful once we got to a phone signal.

Sandy Bay House is located on the shores of Luce Bay. It's a modern house in a fantastic location, next door is the Tigh Na Mara Hotel overlooking the beautiful scenery of Scotland's most south westerly peninsula. Sandy beaches, comfy beds, spacious rooms and free wifi.
Our house is located minutes from the shore line. It has spectacular views over Luce Bay. The village of Sandhead is situated on the most south westerly peninsula in Scotland. Having such a milder climate, we have Port Logan Botanical Gardens nearby and many other activities. Keen walkers will love the Mull of Galloway trail and there is three golf courses on our doorstep. Dumfries & Galloway has dark sky status so watch out for those stars. Finally, enjoy a pint of beer or local Gin in our pub, it’s dog friendly in the bar and they serve amazing home cooked food. Enjoy your stay, chill and unwind in Scotland’s most undiscovered area.
The south west coast of Scotland is renowned for its natural beauty and friendly people. It’s amazing sandy beaches and outdoor activities is what attracts most visitors to the village of Sandhead. Whether it’s walking the dog for miles along our golden coastline or simply just sitting back and enjoying what our accommodation has to offer , we are sure you’ll love the different pace of life.
  • Wonderful house, far better than expected, Neil is a great host, would definitely like to stay again.. thanks very much Neil

  • We loved Sandybay House because it’s very spacious, spotlessly clean and cosy and it had everything we needed. It is in a quiet location, but only 12 minutes from Stranraer, which has lots of amenities and shops. The hotel next door sold very good takeaway food, which was very reasonably priced. It was ideal because our dog isn’t well behaved in restaurants and we don’t leave him alone in a strange house. We enjoyed having a drink in the hotel bar, accompanied by our dog. Sandhead is a lovely quiet village, but close to Stranraer which has lots of amenities and shops. Luce Bay beach is stunning and just yards away from the house. The people in the village were friendly. We will definitely come back next year!

    Phyllis2019-11-06T00:00:00Z

A luxury holiday cottage consisting of a wing of Kildrochet House, an early 17th Century Grade B listed building. Set within 5 acres of it's own land and situated in the beautiful countryside of Wigtownshire, South West Scotland. We started this listing in 2013 but only put the bare essentials in. Only today, April 4 2018 have we actually finished it. This is why we have had no guests or reviews from Airbnb so far! You can find 5-star reviews for us on Trip Advisor.
A luxury holiday cottage consisting of a wing of Kildrochet House, an early 17th Century Grade B listed building. Set within 5 acres of it's own land and situated in the beautiful countryside of Wigtownshire, South West Scotland. The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated to a luxurious standard and provides an oasis of tranquility. Close to the delightful coastal harbour villages of Port Patrick and Port Logan with wonderful country views. Kildrochet Holiday Cottage is in peaceful extensive, beautifully kept mature gardens with open space for children to play and garden furniture for relaxing and dining outdoors. A spacious home which sleeps 2, is quiet and secluded, but there is also an optional fold-up bed for a third adult or child. Pets are also welcome. A perfect place for a couple to base a walking holiday from, to go golfing, to explore Logan Botanical Gardens or just to relax in the many country pubs in the area. Please also see our adjacent one bedroom property on Airbnb - "The Studio, Beach 10mins, Portpatrick 15mins". This may be particularly useful for groups of 3 or 4 travelling together as it also sleeps 2.
We are surrounded by farms and woods. We often have our farmer neighbours' cows or thoroughbred racehorse in our front paddock. We are 7 - 20 minutes from a number of beaches and coves as well as the pretty traditional village and harbour of Port Patrick from where, for hikers, the Southern Upland Way begins it's journey across Scotland to the east coast. We are a 45 min drive from the UK's largest National Park, the Galloway Forest National Park, which includes a major mountain bike circuit for leisure and competition. We have several gardens and estates close by with public access as well as castles, for example Castle Kennedy and Logan Botanical Gardens. Several golf corses are are very nearby, including the world famous Turnberry Hotel and Golf course. Two ferry companies sail to Northern Ireland - Belfast and Larne - from Cairnryan which is only about 8 miles from the property.
  • Gorgeous! A special treat staying in such a stylish and historic building. Loved the layout across 3 floors and, most of all the beautiful light in the upper rooms which made waking up in the glamorous bedroom a real joy! We loved sitting on the window seat in the first floor lounge just watching everything going on in the splendid gardens. All the household items were very good quality and we particularly loved the bedding and fluffy white towels. The weather was mixed but we had a glorious day at Sandhead where we, and our dog, were the only people on the beach. Fantastic!

  • Beautiful place in a lovely spot. Well placed for exploring the surrounding area as long as you have a car to get around. The hosts were welcoming and helpful.

  • This apartment provided the ideal base for our 3-day visit around the area. The grounds around the apartment is very peaceful (countryside with garden and wooded landscape). Well equipped and spacious, the 2.5 storey apartment has a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the top level, a nicely appointed living room on the middle floor, and a large kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. Windows on all levels look out to beautiful garden or wooded areas of the property. Philip is an excellent host (thoughtful, prompt, etc.).

    Steven2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Philip’s place having booked this trip whilst still on our first visit! Again the location was excellent, hospitality welcoming and the house was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. We are already planning our return trip for next year! Thank you again!

Boot Cottage is a hideaway in the small village of Kirkinner in the Machar region, part of the UNESCO Biosphere in Dumfries and Galloway. You step over the threshold into a large open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area and through to the garden with its own decking and seating area great for a sundowner or a Bar-B-Q. Stairs lead up to the large bedroom with King Sized 1000 spring bed. The ground floor bathroom has a walk in shower.
Although from the outside it may look small, the cottage is deceptively roomy inside. There is a Feeeview tv with attached blu-ray player, a washer/dryer, full oven and hob as well as a microwave, and all tastefully furnished and decorated.
Small village location, convenient for exploring the Machar region as well as the Galloway Forest Park.

  • We loved our stay at Ravenstone cottage. We wanted to stay somewhere with nice woodland surroundings so that we could enjoy the setting as well as travelling around the Machars area exploring. This cottage ticked all the boxes. It's not too far out the way and we enjoyed returning to the cottage every night. Very quiet & secluded which meant we slept extremely well. Beautiful surroundings with lots of little birds visiting the garden as well as red squirrels. A treat for us to see in person. Dave & Sue are both great hosts and we very much appreciated the little touches with the home made bread left out for our arrival. Altogether a lovely wee holiday! Very happy and would book again. Happy Days! 👩🏻👧🏻❤ xx

Wigtownshire is one of our a best kept secrets, with beautiful hill walking in the Galloway Hills, renowned Galloway Forest for looking at the Stars, and generally a very green and pleasant land. Quiet unspoilt beaches are close by and many walks abound with the Southern Upland Way passing close by. Ayr , Glasgow, and Dumfries are within easy reach for all your shopping. Train & and Bus station at Stranraer with bus stop at Dunragit village. Stena and P&0 ferries are within easy reach at Cairnryan.
  • The shepherd's hut is both airy, with it's calming cream and natural toned colour scheme, as well as cozy, with a comfortable king size bed, fluffy duvet and pillows and a mini woodburner that keeps the hut beautifully warm and toasty. We couldn't make the most of the beautiful setting due to Storm Dennis, but even in the wind and rain we could see how fabulous it is.

    Paula2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Cabin is cosy with everything you need. Setting is excellent.

    Adam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We booked here because it was convenient for the Southern Upland Way, and couldn't believe our luck when we turned up to find the most charming and delightful hut. In frost, the moon just past full, we explored the magical garden. King size bed is luxury in this tiny space; everything else is small and perfect. We loved it. Thank you Tessa for making this possible, and for lighting the wood stove before we got there!

    Anna2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect escapism from the hustle and bustle of life. Magnificent gardens and your own private space. Would highly recommend

  • Tessa’s shepherd’s hut is absolutely AMAZING! It’s very well equipped with a really comfy bed, fab little kitchen with everything you’d need to cook a meal (2 ringed hob, pots and pans, kettle etc), a gorgeous little stove which got the hut really cozy, and a modern bathroom. The hut is so beautifully decorated and feels really homely. The gardens were outstanding and made our stay so peaceful! Tessa is really friendly and recommended a fab pub for our dinner (Tiag Na Mara). We will be recommending this to everyone, it’s a hidden gem!! Thanks Tessa!

  • Great little hut overlooking a pond with a diving board.

Want to experience the stunning views of Loch Ryan in newly built, high quality accommodation? With the ferry to Ireland being a 15 minute drive away, this room is the ideal place to stay before sailing to Northern Ireland. Or if you’re looking for a trip of walking, cycling, golfing, or sailing (to name a few) you’ll find that this room is in the perfect location. It is a 20 min walk/ 5 min drive to Stranraer town centre, where you can find the Castle of St. John and quality businesses.
In rural town close to local amnenities.
  • We had a lovely time at the loft, it was stylish, cosey with exceptunal views looking over Loch Ryan. The room was clean, light and decorating neutral which gave a relaxing feel. The bathroom had a nice big shower with plenty towels and the added touch of a basket filled with a selection of miniature pampering lotions and potions. Julie communicated well with us and we were greeted warmly on arrival. Nothing seemed to be too much of a bother. We found it an ideal peaceful location but not too far from the town centre where there is plenty, not too pricey places to eat. We used the loft to explore area, covering Mull of Galloway, Portpatrick, Dunskey Castle and further north to Corse wall Lighthouse and finished with a tour around Castle Kennedy Gardens. We look forwrd to returning again soon to explore more of the area. Thank you for having us Julie.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts providing everything and much more than an hotel room could. A few minutes walk or cheap taxi into town, a great location with views. Highly recommend.

    Ann2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent short stay in Julie's loft and it is stylishly furnished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, great there is black out blinds too for a good nights sleep. Bed was very comfy and little touches like touch sensor lights where a good idea. Uninterrupted views to the sea, fab little outdoor seating area and burner which on a summer's night would be amazing and given it was supposed t be Hurricane Ciara we had blue sunny skies each day. It was windy in the night but loved hearing it around the property when toasty in bed. Excellent bathroom, loved the hot power shower and Julie left plenty of towels and if you did forget something there was a basket of mini products to assist. Easy to find and a great base to do a huge tour circle of Dumfires and Galloway right down to Mull of Galloway too. Lot's to see and do, you would not be bored. Try the Colfin Creamery restaurant best restaurant by far locally and not too far away, Landos in Stranraer was probably the best but could do with more muted lighting of an evening. Portpatrick is a lovely harbour and we got to explore so many ruins, lighthouses, abandoned buildings etc so a very productive trip considering out of season. Excellent communication and would highly recommend a stay here as its restful, private and easily accessible.

    Gail2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful! So clean and cozy, and Julie was a fantastic host. The GPS stops you about 250 yards down the road but the location is beautiful, easy to drive to, and close to the ferries as well. We loved our stay at the loft 💙 I would love to stay again! There are a few cute cafes in town (fig and olive 👌🏻) and some castles nearby as well if you want to stick around the area. Perfect experience! Thankyou Julie.

A detached cottage 50 metres from the shore of Luce Bay near Port William village. From the spacious conservatory, guests can relax, take in the stunning views towards the Isle of Man, look out for the family of otters who live by the sea, experience spectacular sunsets and star gaze. For the more adventurous there are lovely walks, cycling tracks, water sports, horse riding centres and top notch golf courses in the area. You’ll need a car to explore but there are local taxis for pub visits!
Detached cottage. Self contained garden. Conservatory overlooking sea. Garden with furniture. Secure storage for bikes Accommodation is all on one floor and consists of - Sitting room with open fire, dining area, TV and DVD Conservatory and dining area overlooking the sea with radio and CD player Kitchen with washer, electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker 2 double bedrooms; 1 twin bedroom; walk-in shower room Enclosed garden Barbecue with cooking utensils, garden furniture and bicycle store Well behaved dogs welcome. Services: Coal and logs for open fire are provided. All bed linen and towels included. But bring your own beach towels.
Airyolland Cottage sits just 4 miles north of Port William in Dumfries & Galloway. It’s a great base for exploring the area. It lies on the shores of Luce Bay looking towards The Rhins of Galloway to the West and The Isle of Man to the South. There is plenty to see and do in the area - here are some of our favourites... Beaches This area has been dubbed the Scottish Riviera because of the warm climate and the miles of coastline. There are plenty of family and dog friendly beaches which don't get overcrowded - from sandy ones for safe bathing to those for keen water sport enthusiasts. There are some stunning walks around the various beaches with rock pools and cliffs for exploring. History Isle of Whithorn or “The Isle” is home to the ruins of St Ninian`s Chapel which dates back to c 1300 and marked the start of the pilgrimage route to St Ninian`s Church in Whithorn. St Ninian`s Cave is also nearby. Nearby Wigtown is Scotland's Book Town and has over 20 book shops and related businesses with a museum telling the story of the area including memorabilia dating back to 1707. Castles If you like them then Dumfries and Galloway is the place to visit. There are more than 100 castles located in the county. From the spectacular Caerlaverock Castle near Dumfries and Threave Castle on Threave Island, to the less well-known Isle of Whithorn Castle - which stands at just ten by nine metres in size. MacLellan’s Castle in Kirkcudbright features a ‘Laird’s Lug’ secret spy hole behind the great hall fireplace from which the laird could eavesdrop on his guests. Distillieries Gin - Nestled on the edge of Newton Stewart with panoramic views over the Galloway Hills is Hills & Harbour Gin Distillery. They do great tours - you can watch, learn, drink...and mix your own cocktails! Whisky - is obviously big news in Scotland and there are several distilliers on your doorstep. Bladnoch Distillery is one. Annandale is Scotland’s oldest operating distillery. Located close to the Scotland-England border, they’re also the first (and last) distillery in Scotland.
  • Superb location with stunning views. We spent a lot of the week in the conservatory with its stunning views and sound of the sea reading and playing board games,so peaceful. We will certainly be coming back again. Thanks Janefor being a great hostess. Roy Moon

  • Would recommend this place. Lovely views and good quiet location. More than adequate for our needs. Well equipped and enjoyed sitting in conservatory for meals.

  • We had a fantastic stay, the view is amazing! We took our dogs and we arrived to both dog and human treats! Everything you need to stay in and we found loads to do around the area. The dogs loved the beach just a bit further down the road. Thank you again x

  • Janes place is amazing. It has everything you could ever need all under one roof. We had such a lovely time and enjoyed our days out and evenings in front of the fire. Very impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was, how there were plenty of towels and blankets and all the little things were covered. We literally just brought ourselves and some food for the BBQ. Jane was excellent with communication and all the silly questions I had. She was quick to respond and put us at ease as this is the first time we have used Air BnB. Would 100% stay again. Lovely home and lovely host.

    Elena2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay here. The place had everything we needed and was exactly as we expected from the listing. Great spot for exploring Galloway.

    Geoff2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a great location with wonderful views across to the Mull of Galloway. As a family of 5 we found more than enough within the wider area for a week's stay.

    Andrew2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, right next to the sea - the sound of waves is super relaxing. It has a lovely old eclectic style to it (think Kiwi bach) & everything you'd need. Friendly & helpful host. Definitely recommend.

Known as "The Studio", our new one bedroom apartment is a conversion of outhouses within the grounds of our early 17th century main house. Flooded with light from the front doors and skylights, it has a very contemporary, 'Manhattan loft' character while maintaining a very cosy feel to it. It sits in 5 acres of land comprising of a lawn, paddock and wooded area. Only 3 miles from the facilities of Stranraer and around a 7 minute drive to both the beach and a forest.
We do not accept dogs although those wishing to visit with friends or family could book together with our adjacent one bedroom property which does accept dogs (please see Kildrochet House - "Country Cottage/ Beach 10mins/ Portpatrick 15mins" on Airbnb where you can also see our positive reviews.) Built to a very high standard with clean lines, exposed beams and brick/stonework, we used mostly recycled stone and brick from the previous buildings and the old byres. The kitchen/lounge area is open plan with high vaulted ceilings with floor to ceiling windows and double doors which open out onto a patio with a table and chairs. The bedroom leads from this and is separate from the main living area. There is a separate bathroom with walk in shower. Other highlights include a wood burning stove, coffee pod machine with Nespresso milk frother, Alexa music player and courtyard. The UHD smart TV also has a built in premier Netflix subscription available to guests and there is high speed fibre optic wifi. Coffee pods, tea and some milk is provided. Guests with bikes can lock them in the stables (although the property is generally very safe for leaving them outside anyway.)
We are only about a seven minute drive to both the huge Sandhead Beach (Luce Sands) and the Torrs Warren forest. The lovely harbour village of Portpatrick is 5 miles away with it's coastal walks, pubs and restaurants. We have many first class gardens nearby, including Castle Kennedy and the Logan Botanical Gardens. For children and families, there is the Laggans Activity Park nearby.
  • This is a lovely place in a lovely area. Stylish, modern, warm, a clever use of space, and a comfortable bed. The owners are great, friendly and helpful, and we had just what we needed, a peaceful and adventurous week of respite. We'd also like to thank Philip for keeping us well supplied with firewood.

    Anna2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our three night stay. The Studio is immaculate and very stylish. The log burner was a welcome feature, which made the cooler evenings very cosy and there was a plentiful supply of logs provided, which was much appreciated. The bed is extremely comfortable and all bedding and towels were supersoft. The large smart tv with Netflix is another bonus. It really is a home from home. The studio is in a very quiet area but within easy reach of town for shops and restaurants. We visited Portpatrick, the Mull of Galloway, a nearby forest and other towns and villages, which were all well worth a visit. We would recommend this place without hesitation, as it's lovely and in a beautiful part of Scotland.

    Jane2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's airbnb is a wonderful space. It is perfect for a long weekend a way but we could have moved in. The decor is classy but still cosy. Philip's hospitality was great, we arrived on a dark and blustery evening to find he'd already started the fire to warm the apartment. The fire was definitely one of the higights. There are lots of high quality appliances and extras such as a nespresso coffee machine with pods and a milk frother. The large double bed is quite soft but still very comfy. 10/10 would go back and recommend.

Traditional period cottage with stunning contemporary extension and splendid sea views to the isle of Man. Located in traditional farmland just over a mile South of Isle of Whithorn, on a wonderfully unspoiled wild coastline. Isle of Whithorn is a pretty fishing village with a superb pub and a tearoom with shop and post office. Nearby there are sandy beaches, rocky coves, sea fishing. The night skies are wonderfully dark for star gazing.
Pet friendly! Snug sitting room with coal fire, and modern sun room extension with sliding glass door to fenced in garden.
Scotland's National Book Town, Wigtown, is only 15 miles away with bookshops and cafes, and garden nursery. The annual book festival is end of September to early October.
  • Michelle’s place is outstanding. It’s a stylish yet warm and welcoming place. The sun room is perfectly laid out and has uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside and sea. There are lots of thoughtful touches around the place, which are a real bonus. I rely on other recommendations when booking, and I would highly recommend this wonderful place.

    Gill2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cutcloy Cottage is as pretty in the flesh as it is in the photos. It's in a remarkable location with great views stretching out to open fields. Inside is spacious, clean and very well presented. Cosy and calming but also very modern. We arrived at night but the heating was on and Michelle had put out a mini hamper of goods that really added icing to the cake. My wife and I visited with our 2 sausage dogs for 4 nights. We found it a perfect platform to reach Galloway Forest & Isle of Mull. We even ventured into Fort William and the Highlands one day (be prepared for a long journey if you're thinking of doing likewise) The cottage is easily accessible and there's a number of places you can go to eat/drink not too far away. Before arriving, Michelle had reached out with a couple of suggestions. Being unfamiliar to the area, I found this really helpful. Finally, if you appreciate art - this is the AirBnb for you. Michelle is a very talented artist and you'll get to see some of this within the cottage.

    Mike2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Views better than expected and the cottage has one of the best kitted out kitchens we've stayed at which we really appreciate. The view is better than the photos suggest and you feel isolated without genuinely being remote which is great. We got a clear night in november so sat outside with a fire and watched the stars as its near-total black. Absolutely great, thank you!

    H2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's place was everything we expected and more. When we arrived, it was dark but once we were inside it was already warm and inviting, ready for us to settle in. After after a fantastic sleep we awoke to an absolutely glorious sunrise and a view of farm land and the Irish Sea from the very warm sitting room. It was absolutely breathtaking! And the silence and security of the place from the ice coastal winds made you feel so comfortable and secure no matter what the weather was doing. Fortunately for us the sun was out all week long and we were able to enjoy everything the place and everything it had to offer from the nicely equipt kitchen, the beautiful ensuite/bathroom, the lovely fireplace and the very secure backyard for our dog. A wonderful host and a wonderful place. We enjoyed every moment and completely recommend you go an experience it for yourself.

    Human2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Cutcloy Cottage is beautiful and has fabulous views over the fields and the Irish Sea. The cottage is beautifully furnished with some lovely touches from Michelle. We couldn't have been made more welcome. Would highly recommend for a quiet relaxing holiday.

  • Absolutely wonderful stay at the cottage. Great secure garden for the dog and sitting out to enjoy the views. My daughter loved the fluffy highland cow and 2 teddies in 'her' bedroom and the nightlights were a great plus. Everything you could want/ need in the kitchen which was perfect for cooking. We'll definitely be booking to go back!

Welcome to a haven. You will be happy to find us, with most of our guests now being repeat bookings. Our caravan is superior, from super comfy recliner sofa to a well equipped kitchen you won’t be disappointed. There is a pool, hot tub (open from April until October), laundry, bar/restaurant (Open varying times dependant on seasonal demand) and soft play. Set on Loch Ryan means stunning countryside and beaches. Ideal for families, romantic breaks, quiet retreats or a base for an adventure...
Our van is in an ideal location. It is very peaceful, but there is also plenty for families to do. the safe location means children can play and enjoy back to basic fun. There is a pool house on site which has a small pool and hot tub. This is not attended and is offered for 1 hour sole use, which you need to book at the office each day you wish to use it. The pool is open seasonally so closes from November to April. We have reflected this in or pricing. There is a large soft play, which requires adult supervision when using this area. The new bar and restaurant is really something. It has the restaurant based on the first floor which means you have perfect views across the loch and surrounding countryside. Downstairs there is a fully stocked bar and pool table. The opening times for this are season dependant currently and is usually open weekends but hours are looking to be extended. Across the other side of the Loch is the two ferry ports for P&O and Stenna. Both these ports offer a park and ride and deals can be found on their website for day crossings over to Belfast, well worth a trip. Locally there are so many walks and adventures to be found. We are compiling a full list for our guests but there is also lots of information online. Some attractions worth mentioning are Dunsky Maze and Gardens towards Portpatrick, Stranraer Museum, Dunsky Castle (this involves a fairly steep climb) plus many more. The area is renowned for bird watching and also star gazing. Any enthusiast would not be disappointed in this location. Fancy going a little further, it is roughly an hours drive to Ayr where there are brilliant attractions such as Heads Of Ayr Fun Park (our family favourite) We can provide a travel cot instead of one of the single beds if this is required. Also we have wrap around decking with a gate making the outside area safe for toddlers. Having 4 children we have tried to plan every aspect to make your stay more comfortable. We do welcome small and well behaved dogs, but we would ask that you respect the furniture and keep them to just the living area so that it can be fully cleaned ready for following guests. We have had all lengths of stay, from a few nights to (more recently) 3 months, even having a few people add on a few extra nights to their stay where possible.... We find that because we take bookings from a number of outlets, we can suddenly become booked up, so would urge people to book as soon as they can to avoid any disappointment. PLEASE NOTE The caravan site facilities are unavailable from November through to March. This is because they are closed for the season but the site is still open. This means the pool and bar will not be available hence our lower rates in these months. There is a local swimming pool in the town. Please contact before booking if you would like to clarify anything.
Our neighbourhood is a small beach surrounded by fields and countryside.... Perfect! We are 10 minutes drive from the main town of Stranraer where you will find many local shops, including a small Tesco and a much larger Morrisons, where there is also a petrol station. There are takeaways and restaurants and lots of other amenities.

  • A fabulous, spacious, well-equipped home from home with many extras. Great base for exploring Stranraer, Newton Stewart and Portpatrick. Great value.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was so warm and welcoming, lovely and clean with thoughtful touches. We enjoyed exploring the local area, which has such gorgeous scenery, not far from Wigtown book town and a great gin distillery. We hope to come back again.

  • This place was used as a base on a weekend as our children were curling in Stranraer in a competition therefore it was a perfect location for us. The place was absolutely immaculate and warm. A fantastic welcome with bread, cheese, milk, eggs, cereal, jam and butter as well as a bowl of sweeties really means that you can arrive here knowing your breakfast is taken care of. This cottage has WiFi which is not listed and Netflix which kept the kids occupied in the evening. Great water pressure! Lovely spacious bathroom. The enclosed outside area is perfect for dogs. I would definitely return here if we are ever curling in the area again, and would hope to stay longer than a weekend to explore more.

  • A lovely cottage with loads of space inside. Outstanding facilities and a definitely chance of return for me and my friends! Everything you’d want in a village tucked away in Scotland- with a very short journey to the coast.

  • We had a wonderful 3 night break in Sharon's van. It was super comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. Despite it being October and us having a mixture of weather, the van got cozy quickly and was a pleasure to spend time in. The site itself has heaps to do from golf to pony trecking. Whilst we ate at the bar one afternoon (delicious Sunday roast!) we spent most our time away from the site enjoying some local hikes and bike rides. We went to the mull of Galloway which was great to. I really recommend Sharon's van for a short break - I hope to get back soon!

  • We had a wonderful time at your place. Everything was sparkling clean. The bedrooms were very cosy. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook a nice meal. The living room was spacious and we had some great evening meals with the family. The people at reception were very friendly and helpful. There is so much to do in the area. We visited the Mull Of Galloway, had a walk in the Galloway Forestry Park and we saw lots of Abbeys and historical sites in the Area.

  • It's a great little place. Very quiet, if a bit isolated, but it was peaceful and a good base to explore locally. I'd recommend it.

  • Harry and Marlene were very hospitable and looked after us very well. We arrived wet and tired but after a good meal provided by Harry and a shower and clothes wash we were ready for another day battling poor weather. The shed is a good base and very good value for money.

  • Harry and Marlene are very friendly and welcoming hosts. They gave us great tips before arrival and greeted us with biscuits and tea. The shed is perfect for exploring the area or the ferry from Cairnryan. It is essentially like a dry camping option. Exactly what we needed for the night. Thanks again!
