Places to stay in Drummond
Welcome to this quaint rustic cabin located in a small hamlet of southern Hall. The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably, and was built by homesteader Carl Cassidy in the early 80's. His skillful primitive aesthetic and use of recycled materials gives the cabin a feeling it was built in the 1880's. The cabin has recently been remodeled from basement to roof: new electrical, plumbing, flooring, kitchen, bathroom, and appliances. A spacious 280sqft covered porch was added onto the back of the cabin.
The Cabin sits on what remains of the original Cassidy homestead along with the main house and several outbuildings all constructed by Carl. Flint Creek, one of Montana's blue ribbon trout creeks, is located 100yrds from the property. Just across Hwy 1, is the township of Maxville. The charming turn-of-the-century town of Philipsburg is a short 11min drive. Discovery Ski Area (great recent snow totals!!) and Georgetown Lake is just 35min away. The cabin has two stories; main living down and one large single bedroom and bathroom up. The main living area is open concept consisting of a living room (with a double bed futon couch), stone fireplace (firewood included), dining area, Smart TV, WiFi, and a fully functional kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked with an assembly of cooking needs including a microwave and coffee maker. The back door leads out to the new covered porch that overlooks the homesteads old apple orchard. You will find a new gas barbecue, a large picnic table perfect for family gatherings, and a couple of Adirondack chairs for relaxing and taking in the scenery of the property and the surrounding mountains. Upstairs is a large single bedroom with twin bunks, a double bed, and completely remodeled bathroom with tiled shower. A private balcony is accessible off the bedroom. If there's a need for an additional guest past 6, a sleeping cot is available at an additional $20 a night. The cabin has its own private drive and is surrounded by a new gated post and pole fence. The area is perfect to let your dog out for a quick break if you decide to bring them along ;) There is a $25 pet fee per pet that is due upon arrival. Cash, check, or PayPal is accepted.
The Flint Creek Valley is a year round outdoor adventure area. Hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are just some of the outdoor activities that can be enjoyed. The town of Philipsburg is a must visit destination! You will find many enjoyable eateries, shopping, mining for Sapphires, The Sweet Palace (amazing candy store) and of course the Philipsburg brewery! The town hosts a number of events throughout the summer months and the annual 'Yule Night on Broadway' for Christmas shopping and parade should not be missed. The remains of the old 19th century 'Sunrise Mine' can be found down along Flint Creek and up the side of the mountain. There are hundreds of trails in the area to explore as well as many abandoned mines and old ransacked log cabins from the good'ol days. The area is steep in mining history! In the hills behind Philipsburg, you can visit the ghost town of Granite. Granite was one of the largest silver strikes in the world! Take a drive up Maxville Road and you'll pass through the period mining town of Princeton which still boasts a few fulltime residence and vacation cabins. Boulder Creek runs along the road to Princeton and is also a fantastic trout creek full of Cutthroat, Brown, and Rainbow trout. As you can see, the Flint Creek Valley is a wonderful place to stay and explore!
  • Quaint, romantic, clean. Had a fantastic time!

  • Bob's cabin was very adorable. The wood fire place added a nice touch to our weekend stay.

  • Beautiful and cozy space with all the amenities you need. Walking distance from the Maxville VFW which is a gem. Booked a very last minute trip and Bob was quick to respond and accommodate too. Would gladly stay again:)

    Brent2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a feast for the eyes. Bob is awesome. I steer away from places that have the owners living right there because you never know what to expect, but Bob was a delight! He has taken a shell of a cabin and turned it into a cozy, warm retreat you never want to leave. It is in front of his home but once you step foot on the front porch it is your own. Even the back deck is naturally shielded from the rest of the property. Hygge is defined as "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being" and is what you'll find on Cassidy Lane!

    Erin2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely recommend staying here if you like the rustic feel while still having beautiful amenities. The whole cabin is lovely, the fireplace is giant and wonderful, and the towels are maybe the fluffiest ones on the planet. Also, the cabin is dog friendly - what more could you ask for?

  • Even though there was a date discrepancy between our reservation and the one they had logged, they calmly found us a place to stay and kept the restaurant open late for us. The pancakes at breakfast were delicious and super fluffy!

It's impossible for a description to give justice to the Retreat, a custom log cabin that sleeps eight comfortably. All modern conveniences and incomparable views of Flint Creek Valley. You have thousands of acres to wander on, hundreds of miles of trails that disappear into the wilderness, an unchaperoned Western experience as good as it gets. If you like peace and quiet, nature, and privacy, the Retreat is the place to take a deep breath and let yourself be yourself.
The Retreat is part of a retired sheep ranch homestead from the 1930s. The owners live on the ranch but will absolutely respect your privacy. The ranch is no longer a working ranch but it does have horses, donkeys, goats, a Shetland pony, lots of dogs and cats, chickens. They are all friendly. The roosters might wake you up in the morning but don't feel bad, because the ranch eggs are the best you've ever eaten. Flint Creek is a two-minute walk from the cabin. We have about a mile of frontage on both sides of the creek and there are honey holes, but we'll leave it up to you to find them. (Otherwise they won't stay honey holes.) Rainbows, browns, cutthroat. Bring any kind of rod. Right now blue-winged olive duns are hatching and the air is filled with swirling blue. Worried about bugs? Don't be. An occasional mosquito and an occasional tick. The horses have been out since spring and we took a total of three ticks off them this year. We have a few weeks in summer in which the deer flies and horse flies come out but they're not bad. No black flies or swarms of biting gnats like some places we know. The property is full of wildlife: deer in the meadows, moose in the willows, beaver, muskrat, cranes, wild geese and ducks, owls, hawks, eagles, bobcat, fox, coyote, and tons of small furry things that the rest of the animals eat. The ranch is also a major crosswords for mountain lions although only the very lucky get to see them. We see one about every other year. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks took a census last year and counted 36 different lions here. They pose no threat to people. There's an abandoned mine about a half-mile from the cabin. Granite County was the site for a major gold and silver rushes in the 18th and 19th centuries. If you like mining history or like exploring genuine ghost towns and find abandoned miner's shacks next to a hole some poor soul dug by himself into the ground over a century ago. Some of the mines like the one near the cabin were larger scale and their superstructures still stand. You get a strong sense of history when you explore the frayed cables, wrenched iron, chutes, sluices and splintered timbers. You could easily spend a month here exploring our ghost towns and ghost gold and silver mines and mills. We've decorated the cabin with antiques and western memorabilia. The pictures don't do it justice. The open floor plan naturally brings everyone together either on the porch waiting for stars to come out or in the living room around the wood stove, or at the dining table. The master bedroom is downstairs and is private. Upstairs in the loft, there are four open bedrooms. (Open means the bedrooms are open to the loft and so have three walls instead of four.) Three of the bedrooms have queens and the other two have single beds. The cabin has an outside fire pit so you can sit around a fire at night, any time to year. You can't overestimate the numbers of stars in a Montana night sky. You may ask if you can bring any pets, and we respectfully ask that you do not. We have livestock guardian dogs that don't take kindly to strange dogs (but are friendly to people). You'll find the cabin warm, comfortable and very private. We aren't a luxury guest ranch. We figure you can cook for yourself and you know what you want to do. What we offer is privacy, as much solitude as you can handle, and nature's wonderland.
  • Ronald and his wife have an amazing place and were very accommodating for our group! The cabin was large, slept 10 (we brought a couple sleeping pads) and had ample space for everyone. We highly recommend their cabin to other guests!

  • The animals were the biggest hit from our 30 year old to our 4 year old The animals were all very friendly and the fresh chicken eggs an added bonus. We enjoyed the fishing and had some yummy fresh fish dinners

This bright and charming creekside cottage built in 2016 is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy life. Located on ten beautiful acres, guests have access to Boulder and Flint Creeks, as well as unlimited public lands. The home is just ten minutes from historic Philipsburg and only 30 minutes to Discovery ski and mountain bike resort, Georgetown Lake, and blue ribbon trout fishing on Rock Creek.
This brand new space offers two queen sized beds, cool vintage and antique furniture, and has a fully outfitted kitchen. There are gardens on the grounds, which when available offer loads of fresh veggies (note: we didn't get around to planting for summer 2017).
This property is about ten miles from the nearest grocery store, and that store (in P-burg) is very small. With that in mind, we would recommend grabbing groceries in Missoula, Butte, or Helena, depending where you are traveling from. There is a lodge about 1/3 mile up the road that serves food and has coffee and such, but we wouldn't recommend you depend on that solely for sustenance.
  • What a lovely place! Perfect weekend getaway. The place was super clean and we had a great time playing board games and start gazing. One of the best night skies I’ve seen in a while (plus shooting stars to boot)! Would 100% visit again. Darcey, Joe, Kim, and Bobbie were all great.

  • What a great place. The house was fabulous...the scenery stunning.

  • We have stayed in 5 homes so far in Airbnb this by far was the best! Having the property to walk and the creeks were fun to explore. The house is a perfect layout and having a full size washer and dryer was great. We will definitely want to stay again there are more towns we want to check out around that area. The hosts were so helpful and welcoming! Just can’t say enough good about this place!!

    Amanda2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! New, clean, roomy, yet adorable! Four of us stayed for a weekend of skiing at Discovery. Close to Philipsburg to grab a bite or drink, or hang out at the house and watch the deer.

  • Really fun place to stay! In addition to the tipi we stayed in they have a covered wagon with a king sized bed inside. There were goats just beyond the fence next to the tipi, which made it fun for my son. Would be a great place for a big group, as they also have cabin and lodge accommodations.
