Places to stay in Drumbuie

Places to stay in Drumbuie
My place is close to nowhere. The idea is to escape! There are pubs , restaurant and shops in Plockton if that is what you seek.. You’ll love my place because of the views, the escape, and the chance to experience something different on a budget.. The Pent Hoose is good for couples and solo adventurers, but it will only accommodate 2 people. There is NO electricity and you will need to bring sleeping bags and a torch. Please read all the details before you book! Check in 4 - 6 pm!!
This is a WOODEN TENT. Instead of sleeping on the ground under canvas we give you a covered mattress on to which you can put your sleeping bags. The "hoose" is in a field on a farm which has sheep, goats, llamas, racoons, ducks, hens, rabbits, owls and a donkey. They roam freely around the farm and you will see them on your way to the penthouse or evidence that they have been there! You can get food near our white painted house with which to feed them and can come in to the Racoon pen and feed them with one of us.
They published the local crime statistics a few years ago and 54 crimes had been committed, 53 of them by the same man "drunk and disorderly" and one by a confused dementia patient who walked off with an umbrella! It is a quiet, peaceful location which we enjoy. We could "update" our lodges and camping facilities but we fear it would attract a different clientele which we would rather avoid. Our best guests have been coming for over 30 years to enjoy the walking, sailing, climbing and just relaxation they get from this lovely area. We have had people marry on the beach and their offspring got engaged to other guests offspring that they met whilst on holiday as children. A home from home for so many people who are now classed more as friends than guests and we would not want to change this. Thus if you would class your self as "fussy" or "particular" or have not gone camping under canvas before, think twice about what you book as this may not be for you. There is no electricity in the "hoose" and the toilet is a walk away, you may encounter sheep (or the tell tale signs that one has been there!) on your way and this, whilst normal for wild campers, may not appeal to everyone.
  • A special place, wonderful surroundings. The camping huts under the rowan trees are cozy.

    Bronwen2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at struan lea byre. The location is excellent for plockton up the road and a little further onto Skye. The house has been very well designed with some really nice touches and thanks to David and Sarah for the shortbread and tablet. We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area , it's outstanding value for money with lots to see and do nearby. We had a very smooth check in and David and Sarah had lots of tips for walks, restaurants etc etc. We look forward to coming back, perhaps when the weather is a bit better!

  • We had a fantastic and unforgettable stay at the byre of Sarah and David! What a beautiful place to spend a few days or longer exploring this area. We had all amenities we could have asked for. Everything looks even more beautiful in person. The walk along the coast is stunning! Also, you can reach the unique Isle of Skye after only 10 minutes. We hope to come back to this place!

  • This is easily the best air bnb we’ve stayed in. It’s a beautiful location, and the barn is wonderfully decorated, very clean and new, warm and has everything you need. A well equipped kitchen, safe and easy place to park, and plenty of comfortable bedding. David and Sarah were welcoming and helpful, without being over-present. Great walks straight from the barn, as well as easy drives to lovely spots.

  • David and Sarah’s house is just the perfect getaway for any one looking for a peaceful break in an incredible location. It was warm and homely and everything was sparkling clean and modern. We stayed for the entire week and couldn’t wait to get back there to relax after our days exploring Skye and the nearby area. The views nearby are breathtaking and its lovely and peaceful. We couldn’t recommend it enough!

    Drumbuie, Scotland, United Kingdom

We welcome you to Ravenswood Loft, our bright and well-equipped self catering flat in Drumbuie, Lochalsh. We are centrally placed for exploring the Lochalsh area, Skye and Wester Ross - an exquisite part of Scotland.
Ravenswood Loft is situated next to our detached croft house at the rear of Drumbuie village. Please note that Drumbuie is a crofting township and a five minute drive from the restaurants and shops of Kyle and Plockton. Drumbuie is 3 miles from Kyle where you cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Our proximity to other areas such as Glenelg & Arnisdale, Kintail, Applecross and Torridon makes Ravenswood Loft an excellent base for day excursions. We provide a welcome pack which will have the provisions needed to make a cup of tea / coffee & cake and a light breakfast. The flat benefits from underfloor heating in the entrance lobby and we ask all visitors to leave outdoor shoes at the bottom of the stairs. The flat is well appointed and should have all the equipment you need to rustle up a gourmet meal but if there is anything that you feel that we have missed out on, please let us know and we will act quickly to rectify this. There are places to eat in both Plockton and Kyle, where you will find the Co-op supermarket and post office, banks, pharmacy and police station.
The National Trust coastal path (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/kintail/Duirinish.shtml) is a beautiful walk which affords views to the Cuillins, Raasay and the Applecross hills. It takes you through the coastal village of Barleyport, past Duirinish railway station and back to Drumbuie in under an hour. Drumbuie is a traditional working crofting township where crops are grown and livestock roam. We ask that you respect the working nature of the village by shutting gates behind you and avoid walking through crops.
  • A perfect place to stay just outside the isle of skye. Very thoughtful touches through out the flat. The breakfast items available were wonderful (fresh eggs, orange juice, bread, homemade marmalade and milk) . Hosts were very kind and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer

    Sarah2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in a very beautiful place. We loved everything about it.

    Christine2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful. The loft is cosy and stylish, really confortable and clean. The village is lovely and quiet, perfect for relaxing and disconecting from the world. Susan and Duncan were great hosts, always helpful and kind. We loved the place! Thanks a lot! :)

    Andrés2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The flat was beautiful and had a magnificent view, it was very well equipped and cosy. Drumbuie is conveniently positioned to explore the isle of skye. Susan is super nice and friendly and her dog Angus is a delight as well! We really enjoyed staying there and we would always visit again.

    Anja2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Susan's for 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. Susan is an amazing host, spoiling us with treats and fresh eggs. The apartment is new, very cosy, very clean and in a really good location if you want to visit Skye. Great hospitality! Recommended 100%

    Roberta2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Susan has the most amazingly well designed loft! It is cosy, fabulously well equipped, comfy bed and wonderful views. The fresh eggs from her hens are delicious and the extra touches such as home made cupcakes made our stay wonderful. The coastal path is something not be missed, especially if you manage to have the bonus of a sunset and some seals! Thank you Susan

    Sarah2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was a truly home away from home experience! Beautiful space designed in a very smart and thoughtfull way (trays for breakfast in bed, power sockets on both sides of the bed). Stunning view from the window in the living room. Well equiped kitchen. The place is actually within the property of your hosts who own the place so you get to actually meet and talk to your hosts who share their space with you (exactly what airbnb was meant to be).

    Annamaria2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at Susan’s place. Going abroad as a queer couple and staying in someone else’s flat/ house/ etc. is always a bit scary but Susan made us feel welcome. She’s an amazing host and we will try to come back!

  • The lodge is breathtakingly beautiful. Ian and Anne have put a lot of thought into everything their guests could possibly need and more. We stayed for 2-nights and we wished we could stay longer. Plockton is stunning and if you are looking for somewhere to stay, that is as stunning as it’s location, this is the place. Pure luxury.

  • Absolutely loved our time at Ian and Anne's place and couldn't recommend it enough. It's in a beautiful setting with the inside of the house matching the beautiful outside. I'd also highly recommend getting yourself to the Plockton Inn for a few pints and taking a walk to the beach a few kilometres away.

In the heart of Plockton village our truly unique cottage "An Taigh Dubh" enjoys a central yet peaceful location close to the loch, just a short stroll to pubs, restaurants, shops or seal trips and Plockton’s beautiful scenery. Sleeping two in its open plan living/sleeping accommodation, it has a well equipped kitchen and a shower room, with modern comforts throughout. It is not only unique but just ideal, with the added bonus of its own off street parking, a rare find in Plockton.
A unique opportunity to stay in a traditional Scottish thatched cottage in the village of Plockton. Traditional in construction outside but cosy inside and well equipped with modern comforts throughout. The cottage sleeps two in self contained studio style accommodation with an open plan living/dining/sleeping area. It can in addition accommodate a cot for a baby if required. The main bed is a sturdy stowaway double bed with metal action folding frame which converts to a sofa during the day. The cottage also has a fitted galley style kitchen, a shower room and laundry facilities. There is no additional charge for electricity or for use of the washer/dryer in the cottage. For cooking or dining in the cottage is well equipped, with ceramic hob, combination conventional/microwave oven and grill, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, slow cooker, pots pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses, and a welcome basket with a few treats! Laundry facilities in the cottage include an automatic washer/dryer, iron, ironing board and an outdoor drying area. The cottage also has a flat screen TV with built in DVD, coal effect electric fire, hairdryer and a range of books. Nestling in a quiet location in the heart of the village, our thatched cottage is a get away from it all retreat, yet close to all that Plockton has to offer. Just the perfect place to come home to at the end of the day after exploring this wonderful area, truly unique!
We love Plockton's views of the water and mountains, sailing on the loch or going on Calum's seal trip from the harbour. Music nights in the Plockton Inn where the traditional Scottish music is second to none The village also has a good choice of excellent restaurants for dining out. Plockton is truly the jewel in the highlands!

  • A lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed in an idyllic location. Ian and Linda’s thatched cottage is very welcoming and on arrival, Ian showed us around both the cottage and gardens. The kitchen is fully equipped and they kindly provided a goodie basket too. The sofa bed is easy to use, plus an electric fire provides warmth. Be sure to wander up to the Carn na Frith-aird Viewpoint - spectacular views!

    Emma2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three nights at Plockton Thatched Cottage in mid-September 2019. It is a perfect place for a couple to get away from the 'tourist feeling' and yet be able to easily visit Skye, Kilchurn Castle, Galashiel, etc. We truly enjoyed our stay here. Just a couple of quick notes, so other visitors are not surprised. These are not complaints. The double bed is a pull-out sofa, but it was comfortable. Linda stated that she had recently added a pillow top mattress cover. The kitchen was well equipped, but, as we discovered most other places during our 3-week tour of Scotland, the cooking pans are Teflon, known to be carcinogenic. Otherwise, all was great - very clean, plenty of hot water, easy to be 'green' with separate recycling bins out the back door, easy and scenic access to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye, a nice downtown in which to stroll and hear local music. Ian and Linda were great hosts, were not at all pesky, and we got on well. Definitely recommend it and would stay again.

    Robert2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was so wonderful! Plockton is such an idyllic place right by the water and the small cottage is just charming. Ian and Linda are great, cordial hosts and have provided us with many tips. We felt really comfortable from the first minute on and are happy to discover this pretty place. We will definitely be back if we are in Scotland again. Thank you very much!

  • Myself and my wife wanted to have a last weekend away together before our wee boy arrives, all being well, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place than the beautiful thatched cottage in Plockton. The Highland village of Plockton is our favourite place, we've visited many times but our few days in Ian and Linda's cottage were very special to us, the cottage is sparkling clean, so warm and cosy with all the comforts of home, we had the most relaxing time. The property is in a stunning location just two minutes walk from Harbour St. We could not recommend highly enough both the thatched cottage and Ian and Linda as the most warm and welcoming hosts. Perfect!

    Charlie2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Linda are wonderful, caring hosts, leaving the perfect complement of items to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. Very fun living in the tiny historic cottage. It has very clever bright lighting and a well equipped kitchen. It was indeed a pretty comfortable sofa bed with a nice memory foam top. And great shower. Incredible views of the harbor just a few steps from the front or back door. Great walking trails right from town and an excellent restaurant - the Plockton Shores - nearby.

Spacious contemporary cottage for two in the North West Highlands of Scotland, 3 miles from Plockton. A unique base for adventures… whether it be in the mountains, on the water, cycling on Britain’s highest road or exploring the local crofting landscape.
Nanyuki has an open contemporary design giving it a unique internal space with balcony and vaulted ceiling. The ground floor consists of a modern kitchen and dining area with further large living area with satellite TV and WiFi facilities.
Situated in Ross-shire amid the historic crofting lands of the West Highlands, Nanyuki is a perfect base from which to explore the varied delights of Scotland’s wild and remote places. Only a short walk from the sea, Nanyuki boasts an excellent rural situation on the Common Land of the crofting village of Drumbuie.
  • Absolutely stunning, cozy, immaculate, well kitted out place. Definitely would recommend as a base to explore Skye and the stunning West Coast. We loved getting back to cozy Nanyuki and getting the stove going after a long days walking! Also I'm coeliac so a well kitted out and clean kitchen is important as we cook a lot. I literally didn't see a breadcrumb in the kitchen and everything we needed was there which was great too. Definitely recommend!

  • We chose Andrew's apartment to visit the Isle of Skye and it was a great choice. All the main attractions of the island are about two hours by car and the location is characterized by a silence and peace to which those who live in the city are not used to. The duplex apartment is very large, tastefully furnished, full of details and with all the comforts one may need. The lower floor with the full kitchen with each appliance, the living room with two comfortable sofas, stove and TV in which to relax after a day of hiking and the bathroom with a large shower, is the one in which we spent the most time. Also at the entrance there are washing machines and dryers that are essential if you decide to visit Scotland with its unpredictable weather. The lower floor is however very bright thanks to the windows distributed on three walls. Upstairs is the very large and very comfortable bedroom. It is possible to reach a supermarket by car in just a few minutes, we found milk and coffee (also Nespresso) available on our arrival. Andrew is really a super host, he has always been available and has always respected our privacy, he and his wife were in the apartment next door during our stay. He gave us some suggestions about the surroundings and came to say hello when checking out, we were very pleased. The kindness of Andrew, the apartment of style and with all the comforts and the uncontaminated surrounding nature have added value to a beautiful vacation. • Nanyuki was the perfect base for our short stay in the western Highlands and we highly recommend it. The location is very convenient for exploring Skye and the surrounding area. The house itself was beautifully designed, clean, comfortable and homely, and we particularly loved the owners' own original artworks in every room. The kitchen is well enough equipped for cooking at home but there are also great food options a short drive away. In short, we loved it and hope to be back one day.

  • Highly Recommended! We were greeted very nicely by Andrew and led by the house. This is very spacious and modern designed for 2 people and very well equipped. Wonderful is the location. You can take a very nice walk from the house to a small beach or walk to Plockton, which is very picturesque and has several restaurants. The house is also ideal for trips to the island of Sky.

Set on our 17 acre holding on the shores of Lochcarron, near the pretty village of Plockton our cottages sit on our private beach which has a coral strand over which you can walk at low tides to get to the Heron sanctuary island. We keep racoons, llamas, donkeys, goats, sheep, hens, ducks, owls etc and have otters on the beach and many birds to watch and photograph. Perfect place to relax. A pine marten often comes to the window in the evenings for treats. Large part sleeps 4 + 2, small part 2.
If you let us know time of arrival we will meet you and show you in to our cottage which is electrically heated as well as having a wood burning stove, The heaters will be on when you arrive. The local village is two miles away and has great food in two pubs, a restaurant and a takeaway. Walking around the farm with a bag of food, you can feed the animals and, on the beach, watch out for otters, herons and other shore birds. A pine marten may visit your cottage in the evenings for treats. We have a video of pine marten feeding on the back window sill of this cottage taken recently by a guest.
Our farm has one of the most stunning views we know. There is an island which is a heron sanctuary, a coral strand and a grassy beach in front of the cottage. The railway line which runs from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh three times a days just beside the cottage and you have to cross over the line to get to it. The other side of the loch looks so close and the Applecross hill are behind them with the pass of the cattle, the Beallach, being the highest paved road in Britain winding up the hill. The pub there does fantastic food all day and keeps winning the 'best pub in Britain' awards. Great food can also be found in Plockton, 2 miles away, in two pubs and a takeaway and a lovely seafood restaurant. Kyle has both and Indian and Chinese takeaway.
  • There are no words for how awesome our stay was. Amazing place, amazing host. Could have spent several days here, without leaving and not got bored. Lots of wonderful surprises that I'm not going to spoil by mentioning them here. A true get away from an ever increasingly disappointing real world for the heart and soul.

    Arwen2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place, the location is amazing. Perfect views of water, hills and trees. Cosy once you get the wood burner going. Did not really leave the farm for the few days. Just nice to relax, even with neighbours it was peaceful and quiet. The addition of the animals makes its very special, being able to feed the soay sheep and raccoons added those special moments for us. The hosts and farm hands are lovely, down to earth and more than happy to show you the animals.

    David2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful holiday, the location of this cottage is superb. Be aware there is an adjoining cottage so not complete isolation but nevertheless, a great place to get away from it all.

    Lucy2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant stay at the Fisherman's cottage. The location is amazing, right down by the water and there was loads to explore locally. We especially enjoyed walking out to the island, seeing a pine Martin one evening and saying hello to the lamas on the beach. We also loved spending cosy evenings on the cottage reading our books. It was the perfect place for us, thanks Patti!

    Alice2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The beach cottage views are breathtakingly beautiful and what a treat to be greeted by lama's on the beach in the morning. The cottage is kitted out with all the basic amenities, and it's warm and cosy. The stunning views make up for the odd cobweb in the cottage and as the host accurately describes if you are after a sleek and stylish 5 star experience this is not the place for you. We really enjoyed the rustic and 'unplugged' setting. Highly recommended.

    Marike2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all (but not too far) you'd struggle to beat this property. It's quite liberating not being at the mercy of email, text, social media etc. The location, on the edge of Loch Carron was stunning and although we didn't see any seals or otters we had the company of llamas instead. We used this as a base to explore and spent time on Skye and over the pass to Applecross too and there was a thoughtful welcome basket from the host Patti. We're sure to return.

    Mark2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • It is exactly as is described, no frills but comfy and cosy. If you love wildlife (included friendly Llamas at your front door), you will not miss TV or the Internet then this is the place for you.

    Debbie2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The beach cottage is truly amazing! Where else do you have your private beach, only to be shared with 3 llamas? We actually liked the whole farm a lot. Patti and his wife are doing a great job with the animals, and you can interact with them as much (or little) as you like. The views were spectacular and we have very fond memories of staying at the cottage. Our dog loved it there, too!

Please note that there are no cooking facilities. The pod is situated next to my house in a quiet cul de sac. The mountain tops of the Isle of Skye can be seen a short distance away. The pod has it’s own parking area and is very private.
Cosy, private space with patio and private parking.
The area is quiet and just a ten minute walk to the village. The bridge to the Isle of Skye is less than a five minute drive away.
  • A great idea. We couldn't have asked for better accommodation. The pot was beautiful and enough for two people. Thank you very much Heather, you really deserve to be called superhost.

    Jenny2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing pod with tons of great touches to make our stay so comfortable. Heather was an amazing host and was very quick with our responses. Definitely recommend this as a future stay and will be looking to come back if I’m ever travelling to Skye!!

  • Our night in this micro-house was perfect, the bed is very comfortable and you will find everything you need in this little cocoon which is absolutely warm, just like the host.

Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland, United Kingdom

Situated between Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh, our remote bed and breakfast has stunning views and you'll get a lovely homemade breakfast with fresh eggs from our chickens! Please note we are in a remote place and are ten minutes drive from restaurants and shops. Please print out the location instructions before your trip as sometimes GPS is not accurate.
Our detached, contemporary house is set just a few metres from the sea, in a tiny hamlet called Port an Eorna and it is only three miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, which is where you cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, so it is an ideal base for exploring Skye and the other lovely villages in this area such as Torridon and Applecross. Breakfast is served in the kitchen overlooking the sea and includes home made bread, home made yoghurt and home made granola - all made by Lynne - as well as fruit, cheese, continental meats, cereal, orange juice, tea, coffee, toast, jam, marmalade and pastries (sometimes homemade!). We also have a few hens so if you want some eggs for breakast, just ask! There are three restaurants near us - just two miles away - in the village of Plockton. When you are in the house you do not have to stay in your room. Our lounge has two huge corner windows, with two cosy armchairs so you are very welcome to sit in it and look at the scenery or read or just completely relax. The views are gorgeous and if you want to go for a short walk there is a very nice one outside and you can see beautiful views of the Isle of Skye. There is a private bathroom directly next door to the bedroom which guests will have sole use of and it has a huge shower with a rainforest shower head.
This is a remote neighbourhood - ten minutes drive from any restaurants or shops. It is very tranquil - there are just four detached houses at the end of a single track road - so you can totally relax and enjoy peace and quiet and nature.
  • One of those places where you instantly begin to plan when to visit again.

    Frederik2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say- a truly wonderful stay with some truly wonderful people (including Casper the dog!) Lynne and Darren's home is positioned in the most beautiful landscape imaginable and their lovely modern home makes full use of this view and environment, with very large windows that look out onto unbeatable views. Perched on the edge of the sea, there is always something to look at- an ever changing piece of art. The bedroom is a comfortable space with a large bed and storage, but to be honest we didn't spend any time here unless we were sleeping. This is because Lynne and Darren very kindly give their guests full use of their living space, with stunning views and log burner. The kitchen adjoins this lounge space, so Lynne and Darren were around this space to make food occasionally etc and say hello, but this living space would otherwise be yours to use. Likewise the bathroom next to your bedroom is a lovely functional space, with walk-in shower, and you will have sole use of this during your stay. The kitchen is where Lynne would prepare lovely breakfasts for us each morning. We were spoilt with homemade bread, yoghurt, jams and granola. Cheeses and meats were laid on, as were Lynne's home grown eggs! We also had pastries, buns or crumpets etc on other mornings- we never never short of lovely things to eat. When Lynne and Darren were around they would offer tea and always check in with us. Lynne's home is a croft, and so there are a number of animals around the house! We had a lot of fun watching her chickens and small flock of sheep carry out their daily routines, and we had a lot of entertainment from getting to know their rescue dog Casper. The position of the house makes it ideally placed to walk/ drive to a variety of beauty spots, whether that is a coastal walk around the local peninsula, or a walk into the nearby village of Plockton (which has a number of lovely pubs and places to pick up supplies). You can't help but fall out of the house into the gorgeous countryside! Lynne was on hand to recommend local walks to us during our stay, and we couldn't get enough of exploring the local area. This is a rural location, so if you want to make the most of your stay, bring some walking boots and get ready to explore some incredible scenery first hand! Can't recommend Lynne and Darren's lovely home enough- if you book your stay with them, you won't be disappointed!

    Chloe2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing. The hosts are wonderful, and helped to provide a great experience, serving delicious food, and are knowledgable about the area and generous with their time. The house is located in a gorgeous setting close to the Isle of Skye. Highly recommend

    Remy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing stay at Lynne and Darren’s! The view is next to none, and the ease to get around is great. So peaceful and pristine, and the home is so cozy and a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Loved getting to know the hosts and share some stories over a cuppa!

    Ange2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We loved staying with Lynne, Darren, and Casper! The house has a stunning view of the sea and its cozy seating areas give you the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Their hospitality is off the charts and we can not recommend a better place to stay. We’re already trying to figure out when we can return!

    Kate2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is such an amazing host. Staying was as comfortable as being at home, and the place is absolutely incredible. There are short walks to take right from the house, and it is ideal to get to Skye, if that is your destination. Lynne also had great tips for where to visit and where to eat. If we are back in the area, we would definitely stay again.

    Jason2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dreamy location, excellent hosts with good local tips and eclectic conversation. I could sit at those magnificent windows all day if there wasnt so much to see locally.

    Eric2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay if you wish to spend a day or more exploring Skye! You will have a fantastic drive through the Highlands to get here. (We recommended arriving during daylight unless you are an experienced driver!) The property itself and the views each morning are wonderful and worth exploring before you even go out for the day. Lovely cafe nearby and we enjoyed the restaurants in Plockton. Lynne is easy to get to know and makes you feel at ease and welcome at all times! Breakfast each morning is enjoyable, especially the eggs from her chickens! Sheep and Highland cows greet you each day as well. A place for animal lovers in a rural environment. The bed and bath area are in a private area of the house, but we felt welcome in the living and kitchen area and enjoyed our time in the chairs looking at the view and enjoying the fire each night.

Small original croft house in the heart of the Highland village of Plockton. There are coral beaches and dramatic views from the many forest and hill walks. Perfect base for people wanting to explore the Isle of Skye, Applecross and the surrounding area. The croft comes with a fully equipped kitchenette and wet-room all with underfloor heating. Restaurants and local pubs within easy walking distant. The accommodation has its own driveway. Pets welcome. Basic groceries supplied.
  • We had a great stay; compact and cosy which is exactly what we wanted in proximity to the Isle of Skye for a long weekend away with our dog. We knew we were coming out of season and ran the risk of bad weather. We were prepared but did come during a storm. Julia’s place was perfect and we made full use of the drying cupboard under the stairs and benefitted from the underfloor heating! These small additions meant we could brave the elements but come back and have some relaxation time and get dried and warm and make full use of the kitchenette. Thanks for a great stay. Dan and Lee

  • A perfect space to relax in amongst the quiet town of Plockton. You open the door and you step out to the view of the water and surrounding landscape. We enjoyed it very much using it as a base to explore the surrounding area and isle of Skye.

  • Extremely clean, homely and great space for a quiet weekend in Plockton and the surrounding areas. The barn had great views and was within walking distance to Plockton. We even braved a morning swim in the bay, which is a 5 min walk from the barn (it’s stunning, but cold...). Would highly recommend staying here, and would love to come back.

  • We spent five days in Plockton and I was blown away by the beauty. Aileen's place is well kept, everything we needed was there, cosy and we loved the cows roaming outside freely. Made us laugh! Murphy (dog)even enjoyed it too. Stunning views, lovely walks to the beach, gonna miss saying hello to the "heilen coos" every morning. We would love to come back. Thanks again!

  • Leslie and Susies place was perfect for the three of us. It was easy to get to, clean and quaint. Leslie went out of her way to accommodate dietary needs for my daughter for breakfast. It was a convenient option off the isle of Skye but close enough to travel in the morning onto the isle.

    Maria2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in a beautiful location, totally off the beaten path. It was so serenely peaceful. Lesley and Susie were great. They cooked us a very nice breakfast during our 2 day stay, gave us tips on what parts of Skye that we should visit, and my son had a great time feeding their chickens too :)

    Asif2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley And Susie were amazing hosts. Very beautiful and clean space with a private bathroom. Breakfast is cooked and server fresh every morning. You will have to drive through single road to reach the apartment, which is very common around Skye. Beautiful location and lovely people , always recommended.

  • Wonderful setting. Hosts were very attentive. Very comfortable. Highly recommended.

    Helen2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views from the room in a remote little settlement. The room is spacious and clean and comfortable. Great en-suite with large shower. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit , cereals and also cooked choices. The very narrow roads can be a bit nerve racking for those of us not used to driving on them, but you get more confidence the more you travel. Well worth it to stay in this area. Would recommend the local Cafe down the road, surrounded by sheep!

    Vickie2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cosy accommodation in a quiet and beautiful surrounding. Nice short walks to the strand thanks to advise from Susie. We enjoyed the welcome and all attentions. Very nice breakfasts as well. We recommend this address for sure!

    Christine2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location, warm comfortable accommodations and a wonderful breakfast included. We truly enjoyed spending 3 nights with these lovely ladies.

    Courtney2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we booked the communication from Lesley to us was great. We had regular e-mail updates and suggestions. Lesley also offered to book a restaurant for us and when she couldn't get our preferred option, after several attempts, booked an alternative within walking distance that was very good. We received a very warm welcome from Lesley on our arrival and a very cheery goodbye. The breakfasts were great, I would recommend their own eggs, much tastier than shop bought. Our room was great with lots of space for a family of 3/(4) and the view was fantastic, I didn't want to close the curtains at night. At no point did we feel we were intruding in their home, which I have experienced in many B&Bs. This is a very good base for touring the West Highlands/Skye, within very easy reach of Plockton and Kyle but without the crowds.

  • Plockton is a picture perfect village, with wonderful walks to beaches, viewpoints and castles all from the apartment! The surrounding area is stunning and we had the perfect base to explore from. The apartment was comfortable, warm ( we were here during some incredible winter weather) and really nicely decorated. Séamus was great with communication and I would recommended this place wholeheartedly. Many thanks for a lovely stay! Gorgeous place and the area is absolutely outstandingly beautiful!

  • Really happy to be at Seamus’s place! It is ideally located and lovely and Seamus knows how to welcome! I highly recommend for your Scottish trip!

    Edouard2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful family vacation at Séamus's place in Plockton! This was truly the most thoughtfully put together and cleanest Airbnb we've ever stayed at. Plockton is a charming town and great location to hikes and beautiful views. There's even a cute playground down the road overlooking the loch that our toddler loved.

  • Seamus is a very responsive host, and provided a bottle of welcome wine and some sparkling water which was a lovely touch!

  • Seamus’ place is amazing, we had a fabulous stay and didn’t want to leave! From the very thoughtful touches (like the bottle of wine ☺️) through to being very accommodating and providing local area knowledge, we look forward to our next stay in Plockton. The location is fantastic and in a beautiful village. It was great also having a separate shower from bath for our very little children. A Very comfortable and attractive space. Thanks again!!!

The small, scenic village of Kyleakin boasts fabulous views with the unique medieval ruins of the 14th century 'Castle Moil' located nearby. Situated less than 1 mile from the Skye bridge, the cottage is an ideal base for exploring Skye, her beautiful scenery, walks, hikes as well as the numerous exhibitions and tours the island has to offer. You'll find peace and tranquility unrivalled here, with the only regret being that you'll wish you had stayed much longer.
The Isle of Skye cottage was one of the first original houses built in Kyleakin in the early 20th century. The cottage sleeps four guests with its double and two single beds. Original stone work and wooden features are evident throughout the building. The ground floor comprises of open plan kitchen, dining room and living area, adding space and freedom to relax within your West Highland cottage surroundings. After a long day, absorbing what Skye is all about, you'll find this fishermans cottage to be an extremely warm and cosy environment. Whether having braved dramatic coastline trails, mountain summits, rough seas or prevailing weather conditions, I'm sure you'll have enjoyed all of your time in this magical, natural environment.....
  • A fab and beautifully presented cosy home on the harbour front in Skye. The underfloor heating was a dream (as sadly we had a bit of bad weather during our stay) and even when unable to venture out, we could take in the views and peruse the great selection of guidebooks and leaflets available in the cottage. The cottage is a great location for exploring Skye and the mainland coast. Thank you for a lovely peaceful break.

    Kate2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were really thrilled and would highly recommend the property. The communication went extremely well and smoothly in advance - Séamus responded not only quickly, but also very extensively and informatively. The cottage was easy to find and is super comfortably furnished - so you immediately get into the "Skye mood". The heating was already switched on and there were fresh flowers on the table - a nice gesture of welcome. The cottage was super clean, the decor is very good - we even cooked every now and then. You can hear the rain pounding on the roof, which is incredibly cozy. You can play great games at the big table. Many information brochures are available so that you can also undertake plenty of activities. We would come back here anytime - the trip was too short :)

  • We stayed as a family at Seamus's during the February half-term holidays in wet and snowy weather. The cottage is really cosy for families and so stylish. The location is stunning, with views of the harbour and just a minute's walk from the ruined Castle Moil. Seamus was great: really helpful about food and music info on Skye. The cottage is a fantastic base for visiting Skye and the mainland!

  • We loved our stay at Skye Cottage, despite the winter storms, which meant our hiking holiday was very much curtailed! The property itself was so warm (underfloor heating downstairs made it an ABSOLUTE dream). There were plenty of blankets to keep warm in the raging winds and hail. Loved the general Amenities and gentlemanly interior vibe! We would definitely come back again (and hopefully this time get on our planned hikes!)! Thanks, Séamus!

  • A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Seamus was a wonderful host and i highly recommend him. Everything we needed was there making the holiday lovely! I hope to revisit next year!

    Nicola2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Seamus cottage is amazing, nice and comfortable. A great place to explore the Isle of Sky where to come back, relax and feel like home. Hope to come back soon!

    Giulia2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just a wonderful place to recharge your batteries, and I am mystified how Seamus managed to literally give us sunshine for almost a week when the forecasts was rain, rain, rain. Thank you.

  • Beautiful stay in Skye:) This place has everything- quick and easy communication, clean, great location. And the little extra’s that count for so much- travel thermos, coffee, milk, jams.... very thoughtful.

This is a wooden TENT in a field on a Rare Breeds farm. A llama may greet you or indeed join in a camp fire! The glamping hut has two bed platforms on which you can roll out a sleeping bag. The toilet is a few minutes walk away, there is NO shower, there is a communal area with kettle, microwave, toaster and 'fridge. Heat a micro meal or pot noodle here. Please read the full description prior to booking in cold weather, NO HEATING or ELECTRICITY in hut. You must arrive before dark.
They roam freely around the farm and you may be visited by a sheep or a llama whilst you enjoy a camp fire and you may also find traces of said animals on the way to or from the penthouse! You can get food near our white painted house with which to feed them and can come in to the Racoon pen and feed them with one of us.
Patti’s home is located in Plockton, United Kingdom They published the local crime statistics a few years ago and 54 crimes had been committed, 53 of them by the same man "drunk and disorderly" and one by a confused dementia patient who walked off with an umbrella! We have had people marry on the beach and their offspring got engaged to other guests' offspring that they met whilst on holiday as children.
  • Great location. Only a few miles drive to Plockton and a great base for us getting an early start to Skye.

    Stewart2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing communication, so many tips for the local area which are so useful. We would highly recommend.

    Lucy2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The communication with Patti was impeccable and we had received a lot of useful information in advance. The farm has a great view and is located in a picturesque and quiet area.

    Krystian2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice little farm, full of lovely animals !! The place is sublime with a beautiful beach below! Host very welcoming who even offered to feed the raccoons! We loved our night here!

    Caroline2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The accomodation was exactly like we had imagined. Patti and her wife were very friendly and lovely. The only inconvenience is that the hut doesn't has electricity, it can mean a problem in winter. In spite of it, I loved the place and enjoyed the experience! Thanks!

    Yolanda2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Expect his down but you can rent one for 2.5 pounds per person. It is rustic but correct.

A spacious cabin which is within walking distance to all local amenities (swimming pool, shops, restaurants & bars). It is approximately 10 mins walk to the nearest bus depot & local train station. Ideally situated for exploring the hills and mountains round about. The bridge to the Isle of Skye is only 1 mile away and the hills of Kintail are within easy reach at about 15 miles. The quaint, picturesque village of Plockton is close by and the historic Eilean Donan Castle 8 miles away.
The cabin comprises of 1 large bedroom with en-suite shower room. It also has an open plan kitchen living space with double glass doors with panoramic views of the Isle of Skye, Isle of Rassay & up towards Isle of Rona
It is a nice quiet neighbourhood just on the out skirts of Kyle on the road to Plockton.
  • We had a fantastic stay at Lesley and Berties lovely cabin. The highlight was definitely the cosy fire, especially with the stormy weather we had! The location was perfect to go between different places from the Isle of Skye to Plockton. The cabin had everything we needed and more! Lesley was always in constant communication before and throughout our stay and even helped me with plans to make our visit that but more special, couldn't recommend the cabin and hosts enough!

    Dillon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful and cosy with lots of lovely details and a great view. The location is ideal, a short stroll from all amenities & transport to Skye, but very quiet. What made my stay extra special was the warm welcome by Lesley and the lovely details, such as step by step instructions for how to light a fire in the stove (great for novices like me).

    Elena2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • A wooden cabin built next to the main house with unrestricted views across the sea. The cabin itself is a great size for two with a spacious lounge and kitchen equipped with everything you might need. The bedroom is warm and has plenty of storage with a standing wardrobe as well as a tower of drawers. The en suite has a hot shower and towel rail for an extra cosy factor. The decor is distinctly Scottish and well appointed. The cabin is perfectly located for exploring Skye and the surrounding area and each morning you look out over the water it will look a little different. We did a lot of road tripping from our base. The scenery is simply outstanding. There is no shortage of things to do and see. One of our favourites was canyoning, gorge walking, abseiling, and waterfall jumping with Skye Highland Adventures - absolutely recommend for adventure seekers! Overall and excellent holiday made perfect by the ideal base cabin. We will be returning!

  • Beautiful place with an amazing view Hosts are incredible

    Usman2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay here in September! The location was great for exploring the Isle of Skye, and the town of Kyle of Lochalsh was a cute little town, near the Skye Bridge and with a grocery store in town, it made everything very accessible and easy to get around. Lesley was a great host, ready to help if I needed anything. The cabin was adorable, great views and having the full kitchen made is possible to eat in while on vacation.

    Kristy2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 5 nights with my partner and we had an amazing trip. The log cabin does have an amazing view even on a misty, rainy day. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom, plus the bed is very comfortable. The log burner is an amazing touch too. We would highly recommend staying here!

    Marc2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is as lovely as it looks, with a stunning view and comfortable couch. The location especially is fantastic, tucked away from the main road, yet still within walking distance of the co op and a few restaurants. Our hosts were kind and polite, and the space was very clean!

    Megan2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • A clean cosy cabin close to the bridge to Skye. The weather was not our friend so we appreciated the log burner and radiators to help us dry off! Everything was clean and comfortable and when the clouds lifted the view was lovely to take in. A wonderful place to watch the sun set

  • Lovely details (breakfast), cosy and quiet. Close to the bridge to Skye - perfect for a day trip. We come back!

    Rebecca2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The room is really very well decorated! The comfortable bed and breakfast available was ample, we had different choices of cereals, milk yogurt and fresh fruit. The hosts were very hospitable and we were recommended where to dine. You will find, adjacent to the room, a private bathroom with a large shower. Our only regret is to have spent only one night here!

    Clem2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, thoughtfully decorated, comfortable and warm, Eilidh's place has been an oasis of comfort and peace in the beautiful frame of the Skye's surroundings, an experience highly recommended!

The hosts are lovely and gave us great advice about what to see and do on the Isle of Skye. Parking is easy, and the location is fantastic - easy to hop across the bridge to Skye, as well as visiting the beautiful places along the coast.

We have a washing line outside so there may be washing drying on it . You are welcome to use this also if you have washed your clothes in the community laundromat in the village. The door to the conservatory is at the rear of the house and we have small solar lights down the left of the house to light your way around if you arrive after dark There are no cooking facilities but we have a small fridge, and a kettle and toaster, and so you can make your breakfast. Teas and coffees are supplied. We have a keybox to allow flexible arrival times any time after 4 pm, but it is helpful to know vaguely what time you expect to arrive. Check out is 10 am.
We live in the residential part of Kyle but it is only a 10 minute walk down into the village.

  • The stay at Caroline's place was superb. Caroline was extremely kind and polite. My train got delay due to which I reached Kyle train station at night and she was so kind that she picked me up from train station so that I cant get lost. Really enjoyed the staying here as it was just 10 min walk away from train station and bus stop. Skye Bridge was surprisingly just 15 minutes away from this accommodation. Through out my stay here I didn't needed to but myself a breakfast, because breadfast was provided by the host. I'll definitely visit Caroline once again. 100 % recommended

Our cottage has had a colourful past, having been the village dancehall, a shepherd's dwelling and the setting for a book. You’ll love the cottage because of its great location, stunning views, and hillwalking from the doorstep. We are just a 10 minute walk from the pretty village of Kyleakin with its castle ruin, pubs and cafes. Convenient, comfortable and easy. Perfect for couples, friends and families.
  • We were so happy with our choice of staying in Nick and Jo’s cottage, it’s in a fantastic location with amazing views from the kitchen windows, the photos do not do it enough justice. We loved the decor and the thoughtful interior, particularly the misty mountainous landscapes. We did loads of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were great full for the fire after a long day of walking up to the Old Man of Storr or exploring the fairy Glen, fairy pools and coral beach. An amazing stay. Thank you Nick and Jo!

    Hannah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nick & Jo's place is fantastic, highly recommend staying there. From the lovely bottle of red left for us to games in the cupboard to keep the kids amused, Scrabble was a winner! The cottage has everything you'd need for short and long stays, and log fire was fantastic to come home to after a days exploring in stormy weather!! It's also perfectly situated for exploring all parts of Skye and places on the mainland such as Dornie and Applecross. Not too far to walk to local pubs either. We will be back!

  • Great location Great view of the village from the kitchen window where you can see the sun rise. Accommodation was excellent, clean, tidy and plenty of room.

    Helen2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable and stylish cottage with an incredible view. We really enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen every night and relaxing in the evening in front of the log burner. The location is very convenient for the road bridge from the mainland but is a bit of a drive for most of the sights of Skye (cottage is at the eastern point of Skye). Pretty much everywhere is an hours drive away. We didn’t mind because the scenery was truly awe inspiring but worth considering if driving isn’t your thing. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would stay again irrespective of the location.

It has a double and a twin bedroom, family bathroom, open kitchen diner, snug and lounge with log fire. There is parking for one vehicle to the side of the cottage in addition to street parking.
Bayview Cottage is entered through the front porch which leads you into the spacious kitchen / diner, and the heart of the home. There is also a dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and a dining table with 4 chairs. There are two additional folding chairs for extra guests. A window seat makes a charming spot to enjoy the sea views from! The lounge has two sofas to curl up on, an open fire for creating a warming atmosphere, a flatscreen TV with FreeSat and DVD player. One of the sofas is a sofa bed which can sleep two additional guests (so sleeping 6 maximum). There is a fee of £50 per week to use the sofa bed. There is a sunroom to the rear of the cottage with a patio door leading out into the garden. There are two wicker chairs to unwind on along with a selection of books and games. The stairs lead you up to the two bedrooms. The twin bedroom has two single beds, a chest of drawers and a bedside table with lamp. There are a couple of hooks behind the door for hanging clothes upon and the bedroom enjoys sea views over the bay and towards Skye. The double bedroom has a double bed, chest of drawers, two bedside tables with lamps and hooks for hanging clothes upon. Again the bedroom enjoys sea views! There are views of the crofts running up the slope (these can have livestock in them) and of the sea from the side of the house. In addition to street parking in the quiet residential area, there is private parking for one vehicle in the driveway. Important Information: Families are welcome at this property. Cot and high chair available - Please bring your own linen for the cot . If more than 4 people book Bayview Cottage, the sofa bed fee of £50 per week (or short break) will be added to the booking and must be paid in advance. The sofa bed can be requested by all parties staying at the cottage and the fee would still apply. Linen, towels, electricity and the final clean are included in the rental. Additional charges will only occur for breakages or any additional cleaning. It would be appreciated if the cottage was left in the same order as you found it. Many thanks! Whilst we hope that none of our guests experience issues during their stay, we do need to point out that due to the cottage's location in the Scottish Highlands, some services can be temperamental and can take a lengthy delay to get resolved. Internet speed can be very slow and the service can fluctuate during the day and week. Mobile phone signal can also be patchy in this area. Also, to replace any broken appliances, it can take weeks for a delivery to happen. We will at all times try our hardest to rectify any issues but please bear with us as there can be issues due to location that are outwith our control. Cottage directions and key information are emailed approximately 14 days in advance of the arrival date.
Bayview Cottage, Erbusaig is a cosy holiday cottage with lovely sea views. The Black Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye can be seen in the distance, a perfect backdrop for watching sunsets! Within Erbusaig there is the Tinglecreek Hotel which has a public bar and restaurant. Nearby, the picturesque fishing village of Plockton and Eilean Donan Castle, Dornie are well worth visiting and there are ample local walks to enjoy the scenery from. Bayview Cottage, Erbusaig is less than 2 miles away from Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye Bridge, perfect for day trips to explore the Isle of Skye. It also makes an excellent base from which to explore Applecross, Torridon and Glenelg where you can take the local community owned ferry to the Isle of Skye.
  • Excellent location with easy access to both Skye and the mainland.

    William2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in an idyllic location, the views over to Skye are lovely and you can watch the Scotsman train rattle across the harbour bridge from the kitchen window. It is easy to keep warm and cosy, with all modern kitchen amenities (although big blue kitchen cooker in the photos has been replaced with a small electric one when we stayed - October 2019). The location is ideal if you want the flexibility of taking day trips both on the islands and mainland. We did trips across to Skye and the mainland, nearby Plockton was good for food. Katherine is a really attentive host and was quick to reply to our messages - also read the guide book in the cottage for lots of great local recommendations!

There is a small rear garden with clothes line and a front garden on the water's edge with picnic table.

The front door leads into the light and bright yet cosy lounge. There is a wood burning stove to curl up in front of, TV with DVD player and WiFi. On the other side of the lane are the main gardens, following the side of the loch. It is all enclosed with mature shrubs, including a couple of Plockton's famous "palm tree's", creating an inviting garden to spend lazy afternoons. There is a picnic table for leisurely meals with a view! Families are welcome at this property. Cot and high chair available: Please bring your own linen for the cot. Linen, towels, electricity and the final clean are included in the rental. Additional charges will only occur for breakages or any additional cleaning. It would be appreciated if the cottage was left in the same order as you found it. Many thanks! Whilst we hope that none of our guests experience issues during their stay, we do need to point out that due to the cottage's location in Lochalsh, some services can be temperamental and can take a lengthy delay to get resolved. Internet speed can be very slow and the service can fluctuate during the day and week. Mobile phone signal can also be very patchy. Also, to replace any broken appliances, it can take weeks for a delivery to happen. We will at all times try our hardest to rectify any issues but please bear with us as there can be issues due to location that are outwith our control. Cottage directions and key information are emailed approximately 14 days in advance of the arrival date.
Plockton is a wonderful village with fantastic scenery, great restaurants to eat in with a local village feel.
  • This was the perfect base for a much needed R&R break - so comfortable, spacious yet cosy, and thoughtfully equipped throughout. Plockton itself is the perfect location for access to many glorious hiking routes. There’s a Co-op less than 15 mins drive away in Kyle for self catering but also delicious food in Plockton Inn and the hotel. We’d love to come back next year!

Lovely quiet street on the seafront in Plockton. Just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the village.
  • A big thanks to Lynn , Plockton is beautiful- we are in love with the views! We really enjoyed our stay and the shed is perfect and so cosy! We loved the walks to the beaches and to the castle... we even saw some otters and some tame Shetland ponies!

    Ruby2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a last minute booking @ The Shed! Lynn was wonderful at confirming quickly & following up with us, (It was a Hogmanay) The Shed itself is fantastic. Very compact & bijou but everything we needed for a most comfortable, cosy, stay. It was perfect for our needs! Would certainly look to book again. Plockton is a very charming place & The Shed added to to this!

  • The shed is small but great for two people. The bed is huge and comfy. It’s probably the cleanest house we’ve been in and is well equipped. Plockton is a beautiful place with plenty of places to eat. It’s also a great location for exploring Skye and the surrounding area.

    Julian2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great bijou space. It had all we needed and more - we ate out and never used oven/washing machine. It was freezing outside and cabin was very cozy, lots of hot water. Bed was very comfy, property spotlessly clean. Lynn left us lovelyThorntons chocolate which was a very kind gesture. We had lovely food in Plockton Inn (hotel not so good), over in Applecross & at CafeSia in Skye. 2 mins walk to very welcoming pub (Plockton Inn) with great menu & staff. Property beside loch and Plockton is a stunning location

    Mhairi2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn The Shed was comfortable, the seating and the bed. And the kitchen had everything (and a bit more) that anyone could want. It is a cozy and quirky place and we really enjoyed our time there. Plockton has a lot to offer and next time we will come to spend more time in the town and not so much playing bridge at the now famous Plockton Café-bridge. Thanks a lot.

A double en-suite bedroom (no breakfast) in a busy family home. This is a new venture for us to help with the travel costs of our son's football. We have decided NOT to offer breakfast for now. We have three young children aged 11, 9 and 5, so there will always be some noise. The house looks over to the Cuillin Hills on the Isle of Skye and the Applecross and Torridon mountains.
Our location is approx 2.5 kilometres from the village of Plockton. In the village you can enjoy good food, delicious fresh seafood, along with local ales, whisky and gin. There are some nice gift shops and Callum’s boat trips. The Plockton Inn have traditional music sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday night during the summer months and Thursdays throughout the winter. Always phone ahead to avoid disappointment. The house gets the sun first thing in the morning and right through the day until the sun sets over Skye, resulting in some stunning sunsets. The guests bedroom is the only bedroom downstairs. The bedroom has a kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits. Soap and shower gel is provided.

Our home overlooks the sea and is at the end of a track in the beautiful village of Plockton and less than ten minutes' walk away from the village. A perfect location for exploring some of the most picturesque landscapes and seascapes in Scotland.
We have an en-suite room with king size bed and a lovely view of the sea. We offer a continental breakfast with home made granola and fresh fruit.
Plockton is ideally placed to visit the Isle of Skye, the village of Applecross, which is on the North 500 route and is a great stop off point for people travelling to the Western Isles via Skye. There are many activities in or close to the village - Callum’s famous Seal Trips; wonderful walks to suit all abilities and levels of fitness; kayaking and mountain climbing as well as lovely bike routes.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maggie and John’s place at Plockton. The room and amenities were first class. The breakfast provisions and coffee were much appreciated and were delicious. Communications were easy with Maggie. Their secluded property is located at the end of a track but was easy to find with Maggie’s directions. The Plockton Inn was close by for meals. A good base to explore Skye and the Western Highlands.

    Alan2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very special stay at Maggie and John’s amazing b&b in Plockton. We were made to feel very welcome, were given local tips and felt very at home in their house. Short walk to the Main Street, fresh food for breakfast and views of the loch were all an added bonus. Would definitely stay again!

    Stephanie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very good place to stay on your trip. You live in a little house next to the bigger house of the hosts. You have a feeling of independence and being close to very helpful hosts at the same time. We will definitely recommend this place!

    Barbara2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Maggie's! She and John are wonderful hosts! We felt so welcome and the dinner recommendations were on point! We had a great time in this beautiful village and would love to come back someday.

    Ariz2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 days at Maggie & John's place and can thoroughly recommend it to others. If they'd have us, we would book again if we were on holiday in the area. Other reviews say pretty much what to expect; sufficient to say it was clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and an easy walk into Plockton. It's maybe unnecessary advice but if you plan to eat in a restaurant there it's a good idea to make reservation. We also sampled the local fish & chip shop and can recommend that too.

    Malcolm2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely quiet, comfortable and spacious en suite room . We enjoyed our stroll to the village for dinner and the view from our breakfast table. Thanks to Maggie and John for a super stay.

    Matthew2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice couple, beautiful house, our room was great and the bed sooooo comfortable. The area is just beautiful. You can relax there great. The few restaurants are also quite good. The road there, however, it has in itself. But I can only recommend it. I will go back there.

    Madlen2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy the rural but not isolated setting, enjoy the walks on the doorstep, enjoy the helpful and friendly Maggie and her large, clean, room and facilities and enjoy the views of Plockton from the window.

A lovely simple, basic lodge on the shores of Lochcarron and near the pretty village of Plockton knows as the "Jewel of the Highlands". There is a balcony which opens in to a living room/kitchen, a double bedroom and bathroom. A pine marten often visits the balcony for treats in the evenings. There are terrific views over the loch and it is a couple of minutes walk from the shore and the heron sanctuary on the island which is accessed at low tides over a coral strand. Note simple NOT luxury.
Balcony opens into a living room kitchen. There is a bathroom and one double bedroom. Parking next to cabin with terrific views over the loch. Binoculars are provided to help you spot pine martens, otters, seals or even the passing badger. It should also be noted that this is a farm and we keep animals, including hens and some times the hens visit the balcony, especially if guests have been feeding them. The side effect is that these lovely rare Sicilian Buttercups do leave a "calling card" so we discourage you from feeding them as the next guest may not be so happy about the mess!!
Get away from it all. We did!
  • Delightful location, Patti was a great host and gave us lots of local tips. Lodge is exactly what it looks like in pics - not luxury but it’s cosy enough. Great walks all around and wildlife and nature. Great stay!

  • If you are into a fairytale-loke environment and you love animals, the Craig Highland Farm is the place to be. We stayed for a week, and the days seemed to last forever due to the tranquillity and the lack of external impulses. Ideal for charging your internal battery. Patti and crew are super hosts and add to the experience. Our lodge was very cosy with stunning views thanks to the big windows. Seals and sea birds can be spotted from the porch. Our two dogs were most welcome and feeding the raccoons was a great experience. We would love to come back!

  • Great place to stay. We loved the cabin, it was so confortable. The terasse was great to share a beer with a fantastic view ! We really appreciated the place, it was so beautiful. The walk in the farm to discover all Patti's animals was great. The location is very good, near Plockton (restaurants and pubs) and near Skye. It was also fine to find a supermarket just at few minutes driving.

  • We spent two nights in this nice little village near Kyle. The bedroom is large and the beds comfortable. Everything was tidy and neat when we arrived. Our host was really helpful and booked a restaurant for us in Plockton. My husband went on a short walk in the beautiful countryside around the place and this is the ideal location to visit the Isle of Skye as well as Wester Ross. It is also close to Eilean Donan Castle and everything you need can be found in Kyle (ATM, supermarket). We could have anything for breakfast in the morning, from scrambled eggs (from the chicken house) to home-made jam. The children were delighted with the chickens in the garden and the cat as well as the sheep nearby. Tea and coffee was offered with gingerbread when we arrived and there was a large range of tea, herbal tea and biscuits (Fairtrade!) in our bedroom. Lots of flowers in the garden. We would definitely recommend staying there!

    Emilie2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very good stay. The breakfast was great and I could experience Scottish cuisine. From the back of the house, you can walk to the beach and the scenery is beautiful.

  • Great place, very well located between land and sea. 2 min from Plockton, beautiful little village and small fishing port (very good restaurant)! Lesley and Susie are welcoming and attentive. Excellent breakfast! Our room was very large for 3 (2 adults and 1 child) fully furnished, with a large private shower room. (With wifi / tv / dvd and coffee or tea available in the room). The garden is beautiful, and I particularly recommend the walk (10/15 min) which goes next to the house to the bay of Drumbuie, where there are some boats, rocks and a magnificent viewpoint ...
