Places to stay in Dromore West
Hen House Cottage is a beautifully restored small barn in a picturesque rural setting 2 km from Dromore West, 10 minutes from the Wild Atlantic Ocean. Suitable for a couple or single occupancy, this charming cottage has a dutch-style box bed, shower and a small kitchen.
  • I can’t say enough about this magical place. The house is the perfect size for two, it was warm and cozy, and it is in a part of the country that I wish we had spent several more days exploring, it’s just so beautiful. We cooked breakfast, sat by the little stove, said hello to the donkeys every time we left or arrived, and loved climbing into the little bed at night. Heated floors in the bathroom were luxurious. I wanted for nothing.

  • Roberts place is a fantastic, cosy space to chill out for a few days. Plenty of amazing scenery to explore! Wonderful place to stay and a fantastic host!

  • Beautiful place to unwind and get away from it all

  • Hey everyone, I had just such a great time at this wonderful place. I can highly recommend to visit Robert and the donkeys. Go there and get your inspiring Irland - experience. This place is created with love. You will love it! Thank you Robert :)

  • We had a lovely stay at the Hen House. Very cosy and romantic and Robert was a brilliant host!

    Aisling2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Roberts cottage, (who truly is a wonderful host), for our wedding anniversary as we wanted to stay somewhere a little different to the usual hotel etc... and it did not disappoint! It is small but it’s got everything you need as it has been so cleverly designed by Robert who lovingly built this wonderful place by hand. The craftsmanship was a pleasant break from the norm of mass production. It had a lovely stove to keep us cosy and the under floor heating in the kitchen and bathroom room was a nice surprise. We would recommend for any couples looking for a romantic weekend away. We also took our puppy with us, perfect destination for anyone with a small dog - with endless beaches to chose from. Honestly a special place, hope to go back next year. Thanks again Robert, for the chats, wine and hospitality. Ps. Consider this place for a winter getaway and enjoy empty beaches for a stroll.

  • Charming, compact and clean cottage with friendly donkeys as neighbours. Host is responsive and helpful. Ideal location for those looking for a quiet hide away. Close to Sligo and many quality walking routes.

  • When my friend first saw the photos of the tiny windows, he said, “Hobbits!” It really is like living in a fantasy. Everything in the reviews is true, the pictures don’t do the Hen House justice, and Robert is utterly lovely. The area is wonderful, but just note that it is farther from Sligo than you might think and, if you are not experienced with driving in Ireland, I would not recommend getting off the motorway there. Do not rent from Hertz. I blew out a tire on the left side five blocks from their office. Eventually I took a cab to Knock Airport and rented a tiny automatic Kia, which I drove to Dromore West via mostly deserted back roads. After that, I was able to enjoy driving to Easkey, etc., but Sligo Town was still stressful. But it was worth every minute, and every penny of the insanely expensive car rental, to be able to stay in this incredible Hobbit House! Thank you so much, Robert!

  • The cottage was lovely. Cosy, and perfectly clean. The house was warm, beds where comfortable. Easy to find as it is just up the road from Split Rock in Easkey. Would highly recommend Josephine house to stay for a quiet relaxing few days or even a few weeks! Lots of coastal walks and drives nearby. Easkey is a lovely cute village.

    Karen2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is very good. A very good value for money. Not far from the west coast of Ireland. The owner left us lots of things at our disposal and a little attention. The owner is very available by phone and is attentive to her guests. It was really good.

    Morgane2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A super house is a beautiful area. Josephine was a super host and lots of lovely touches and the house is very warm and comfortable. It is difficult to find a place that will accept pets so it was lovely to be able to bring my dog with me who enjoyed the lovely beaches and walks in the area. joan

    Joan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed there for three nights and absolutely loved the place. House is clean and cosy, has everything that you might need. The owner, Josephine knew that we are traveling with a baby and provided high chair and travel cot (we’re usually missing those in Airbnb’s). There’s a self check in so late arrival should be fine. There was fresh milk, cereals, bread and other breakfast items left for us by the owner and in general house was nicely prepared. Josephine called us after arrival to make sure everything was fine and advised what to do in the area. There’s some beautiful beaches and walking trails just a short drive away. Our children had loads of fun watching cows on the field just beside the house. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this Airbnb. Thank you!

    Anas2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay, place was lovely and clean. Josephine even left a few gingerbread men and mice pies knowing i was taking my kids that was a nice touch.

    Danny2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Josephine's place, it is super comfortable, clean and it has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The house is quite warming which made our stay perfect! We would definitely recommend this place and stay there again! Thank you for everything Josephine!

    Roberto2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our little family really enjoyed our stay at Josephines cottage. It has everything you need to make a home from home. Close to Easkey, Ballina and Sligo it was the perfect location for us. We enjoyed the freshly baked bread and free range eggs and the kids had lots of room to play and enjoyed the cattle in the field next door.

Perfect for one or two, this lovely 1bed cottage is in a truly fabulous location at Aughris , Sligo one of the designated “Must See” Discovery Points on the Wild Atlantic Way. This newly renovated cottage is perfect for singles or couples. Finished to the highest standards we think we have thought of everything to make this a special place to stay. Both the accommodation and the location are superb, but don't take our word , see reviews from previous guests, some returning for more r&r.
This is a lovely , bright cosy cottage finished to the highest standards. Just 2km from the sea, beaches, walks and the Beach Bar , a popular pub/restaurant.
A fabulous area of outstanding natural beauty just 2km from Aughris Head, a designated discovery point (Must see) on the Wild Atlantic Way.
  • This place is perfect for a secluded city getaway along the wild Atlantic way. We stayed here one night with our dog along our week long trip down the wild atlantic way. It’s very clean with everything you need and even a cosy fire, which Sheila very kindly left us some supplies to have it. We stayed during a very wild storm but wow was Aughris head impressive with its waves! Definitely worth a visit, with a drink in the beach house bar beside it.

  • This was our second visit to the cottage and it did not disappoint. The accommodation and location are both full of character and will allow you to explore local spots and the wider Wild Atlantic Way. Sheila is a superb host and I would highly recommend staying in the Cosy Cottage.

  • Spent an excellent two days in this lovely cottage. Martina had set the fire for us and we were warm and comfortable throughout our stay. The cottage was clean and cozy, and a 10 minute walk to the lovely village. Perfect for a couple on a short break

    Emma2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutley great place to stay and martina is a great host ...great place to stay in easkey

    Jamie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Anna-Marie and Martina are wonderful hosts. The cottage is bigger than it looks in the pics. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood close to the small village of Easkey. The cottage has most everything you need. It’s clean, comfortable, warm and safe. The beach is a short walk or an even shorter drive. Eat at Pudding Row. It’s a world class cafe with fresh baked breads, coffees and a menu of some fine food. I can’t wait to return. Thank you Ladies!

    Ron2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Martina for letting us stay at your cosy and warm house. We really enjoyed to warm up again next the fireplace after a day of surfing. We are already looking forward to come back to beautiful Ireland :)

    Henriette2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Martinas place is a really great cottage. It is sparkling clean and there is loads of space. There was a great open fire with plenty of firewood so we were very warm and cosy for our week in Sligo. We would love to return sometime.!!!!

    Madeline2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Martinas place is ideal for a relaxing getaway. It is bigger and cosier than it looks in the photos. The location is perfect as its close to the town but yet very quiet especially at night time which makes for a good nigts sleep. Bed was a nice size and very comfortable. Kitchen equipped with everything you need. A nice sized bath and shower in the cottage however they lacked power and bath was very slow to fill but this didnt bother us. The best value for money around for such a lovely stay! Thank you

A very comfortable and spacious apartment in a truely wonderful location... In light of Coronavirus concerns please be assured that at each changeover all windows are left open for a few hours and all surfaces are sterilized ( including remote controls, pens, door handles and banisters) . Windows being left open is crucial for fresh air- this may mean that upon your arrival the place may feel cool.

    Emma2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at the Upside Down House. It’s great for a relaxing getaway. When not napping I spent a good amount of time sitting on the sofa looking out at the fields and sea and at night watched the GAA final and Netflix on the tv. Walked to The Village Cafe in the morning (great breakfast and coffee!) and got a lift halfway there from someone driving by. (Lots of wild blackberries along the way!) Went to Beach Bar for dinner and also enjoyed that - I ended up joining the couple staying in the other unit. Internet was decent for browsing but at times not fast enough to stream hd video or upload pictures (to be expected in a remote area). The place was really clean and bright and homey - would love to stay there again!

    Erick2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The upside down house was cosy and super clean with huge garden. Easy walk down to the beach bar. Check out the cliff walk and the beach walk from Aughris Head. 100% recommend this place to stay.

    Rachel2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a week in the Upside Down House - as a family with two teens. All of us totaly enjoyed the stay. The bedroom downstairs is very large, so that you have lots of space to store all your belongings. Upstairs, you have a living room with very well equipped kitchen and dining corner. The large sofa can easily be re-arranged to a very comfortable bed for two (width about 160 centimetres). Everything (furniture, kitchen, bathroom, washing machine ...) seems to be quite new and/or in very good shape. The Beach Bar nearby serves super delicious food and, of course, Guinness. We chose the area mainly for surfing. Given the wave situation in July, we mostly went to Strandhill (about 30 minutes drive). In autumn, also nearby Aughris Head (2 minutes) will probably be a good spot - or Easky if you are searching for big waves. It was a great pleasure to communicate with Sheila. She is very fast in answering, super nice and super helpful. She looks after everything very carefully and takes care also for small details, as for example nice flowers on the windowsills and in the garden. I can highly recommend this little house!

Inspired by adventure, island coastlines and salty air, Rest Easkey (or “The Yellow Door”, as the locals call it) is the perfect base for making memories on the Wild Atlantic Way. Sitting in the world-renowned laid-back surfing town of Easkey, Co. Sligo, it has friendly shops, pubs and the famous Pudding Row cafe within a few skips of the front door. Discover miles and miles of coastline, white sandy  beaches, sensational links golf courses, revitalizing seaweed baths and pints of Guinness.
The large (24ft) living/dining area boasts an L-shaped couch (that you’ll never want to get out of) in front of a rustic floor-to-ceiling fireplace and solid fuel stove. There’s a 42 inch TV with free to air channels, a Google Cast and wifi. The colour palette of the south-facing kitchen and outdoor stone courtyard nods to the Mediterranean. An 8-seater L-shaped garden couch and dining area is best enjoyed with a bottle of wine or some cold beers. There are two bedrooms, each with a double bed. We are big fans of sleep and so we've chosen high quality mattresses, cozy duvets and black out blinds. And then there's everyone's favourite room in the house ... the tropical bathroom! Street parking directly in front of the front door. We love all sound dogs :)
This is the perfect base from which to explore the North West Wild Atlantic Way. From here, discover miles and miles of coastline. From rocky cliff edges to white sandy beaches. From picture-perfect fishing piers to mammoth sand dunes. From sensational links golf courses and revitalizing seaweed baths to pints of Guinness, seafood delights and lazy West of Ireland sunsets. Take the riverside path along the winding Easkey River and chase its abundance of dancing fish and coastal birds downstream. After less than a 10 minute walk you'll reach the river estuary and the majestic ruins of O'Dowd's famous Easkey castle standing proud in front of the roaring Atlantic Ocean. Enniscrone with its famous long white sandy beach, seaweed baths and links golf course is just a 10 minute drive away (or take the public bus). Dunmoran Strand is 20 minutes away by car, as is the famous thatched Beach Bar at Aughris. Strandhill beach and golf course are 45 minutes away by car.
  • Great place to stay in the middle of Easkey. Modernized heating made it very cosy and very stylish place, the garden is very well finished too. This place is a must if you're looking for a place to stay in Easkey

  • We had a few nice days in traceys house, nicely decorated and a lovely couch, excellent wifi, much appreciated by the children

    Simone2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very tastefully well done place and to a high standard right in the heart of Easky opposite the shop and all amenities. This is an absolute must stay place if you are surfing or just visiting the area . Tracey went out of her way to make our stay as smooth as possible. Thanks so much I will be back .

    Tom2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at Traceys place. Really cute little house with lots of character. Spotlessly clean. Nice and cozy when the stove is lit! Great location in the village across from the famous pudding row. Lovely touches such as leaving milk, apple tart and tea bags etc Cant fault it really! Hoping to go back soon!

    Kate2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay at Easky Rest. Ideally located to explore and surf the area. The house is super-cosy and well thought through so it is also inviting to just stay at home on a rainy day. Lovely garden with herbs and spices and great for hanging out on a warmer day. Tracey is a superb and kind host! Will come back.

    Marco2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thumbs up all round! Tracey's house was was comfy and cosy, the heating and the stove got the place warmed up super quick. It's a lovely old house decorated in a very modern style and it works really well. There's a gorgeous little garden, and a very convenient little shop across the road. Not to mention the proximity to Pudding Row... Thanks Tracey!

    Laura2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner stayed at Tracey’s place with two friends and our dog for two nights and we absolutely loved it. Tracey was really quick getting back to me on any questions, and she gave lots of fantastic tips for where to eat, walk, see etc locally. The house itself is so lovely and cosy, and was sparkling clean. She even left an apple tart for us to enjoy which was a lovely thoughtful touch. The house is stylish and comfortable, and it’s super easy to work the heating and hot water. There is a cute little garden too. Being just a short walk from the sea it’s a fab location, and there are plenty more surf spots just a short drive away. We would definitely love to visit again!

  • Great AirBnB. Geraldine was a fantastic host and we had a great stay! She even sent us a list of great places to go during our trip which was much appreciated. Wonderful experience!

  • We stayed over New year's and the house did not disappoint. Clean, well maintained, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved cycling and walking around the beautiful countryside and enjoyed the fabulous views. We had a great stay and we would love to return!

  • A stunning house, elegantly decorated, spotless clean and with modern fittings to make life simple. With views of the ocean and a cosy fireplace thrown in our stay was a joy beyond our expectations. Location was perfect, simple to find, with local shops and the ocean a few minutes drive and the bigger towns only 30 minutes away. Geraldine provided a wealth of local information on the various places to see, eat and visit both locally and a little further afield. Answering any enquiries quickly and thoroughly. I highly recommend visiting

  • This is a sparklingly clean, modern home with all the amenities you could hope for, including a good size tub for soaking in. Geraldine provided a bakery loaf of bread to go along with all the supplies that were in the house, including butter. There was laundry soap, shampoo, shavers, cream rinse, Q-tips, paper towels, facial tissues, etc., etc. The place was really well-stocked. The master suite had a great shower as part of its ensuite. The other bathroom had the large tub/shower combination. The kitchen has an induction stove, which is a great feature, and there is a wood fireplace in the living area. The house is surrounded by lovely countryside with great views from the bedrooms and dining room down to the Atlantic shoreline. The laneways near the house are quiet and great for walking overlooking the sea. When we arrived, Geraldine had left a detailed note telling us of a concert that night and a street festival the next day. All in all, the house is like a showroom home, but as comfy as can be. We loved our stay and will be back the next time we are in Ireland.

  • Literally nothing negative to say about this house. Lovely house in a great location and excellent value for money. Geraldine is a super host.

  • The apartment in the old police station has its charm, very large and furnished with care and in the smallest details. It is a stone's throw from the center of the village of Easkey, where you can find both the grocery store, the butcher shop and a very special cafe where to have breakfast. On foot, taking a small road after the bridge, you can also reach the beach and enjoy the view of the very high waves breaking on the shore and visit the old tower. The inhabitants are friendly and sociable: we really enjoyed our time.

  • Margarets house is absolutely fantastic. The proximity to such an amazing beach was the highlight of our stay. The kids had a ball, good old fashioned fun, not a screen in sight! The house was equipped with everything you need and is spotless. Its such a charming homely house that my kids tell me they prefer our "holiday house" to our own! Margaret is a wonderful host, we devoured the beautiful bread she had baked for us and the communication was excellent. The area has so much to offer, Enniscrone and Strandhill are two gorgeous seaside towns where we enjoyed long walks on the beach and fabulous icecream after. We are already planning our return visit and i truly feel we will be coming for many years to come.

  • We had a great stay at Greenfort Cottage and highly recommend it. We received such a warm welcome from Margaret (along with her tasty homemade brown bread). The house itself is beautiful and well maintained, the path leads straight to the beach which is amazing and one of the reasons we choose this property. It's a short drive to Enniscrone and Easky and about half an hour to Strandhill, so lots of places to visit. I's so peaceful too, a great escape from everyday life. Maragert is such a great host and on hand if you have any questions prior or during your stay. All you have to do now is go book it :)

  • A homely cottage in a lovely location. Very easy to access. 2 mins drive from villages left and right and a short 15 mins spin into Enniscrone. Easky beach has a lovely castle ruins for the kids to explore. Lovely to watch the very brave surfers too. The cottage itself was clean and homely , had all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The beds were cosy and comfortable apart from the bottom bunk which had no real mattress, more like a long , thin cushion but thankfully wasn’t required for our group so made no difference to our stay. The cottage was warm with central heating on a timer. All in all , a comfortable, enjoyable , stay for all in a lovely location .

  • Really enjoyed my stay at Ashling's house! Lovely quiet location with a great view from the front of the house. Ashling was a great host and really responsive. All the rooms were spacious and the house was very clean. Only small issue was that the 9th bed was more of a paper thin mattress so would not really count as a 9th bed. Besides this everything was great.

  • This cottage is quite a find, it's a fantastic space for a family and in a great location for travelling round Sligo, although the time we were there was fantastic weather and so we just spent a lot of time on the beach (Dunmoran Strand is brilliant for families, pack a picnic). Also, make sure you do the coastal walk round the headland by the cottage it's stunning, and walk to the Beach Bar too, a lovely place to spend an evening. Finally, Des is a FANTASTIC host, he amended his own plans to accommodate us and made sure that we were fine throughout our stay. We highly recommend this property, and would love to go back at some point in the future. Thanks Des

  • We had a wonderful time. The place was perfect for my 2 young children. They loved the farm and cows next too us. It was a great location to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and plenty of beautiful beaches. The house is really nice and everything you could ever need. Des is a gentleman and always there if you need him. I would go back again for sure.

  • This stay was a catch up with college friends which we have been doing for the past 8 years. Usually we stay in each other’s houses but this year we decided to go to a neutral place. This house was even better than expected & was topped off by the amazing location. Thanks so much to Sorcha, Sandra and Neil. The contact and hospitality was above and beyond. We will definitely be back. Thanks for everything.

  • This is a most magnificent period property and perfect for a big group to celebrate a special occasion or for a luxury escape. The house itself feels like Downton Abbey and it feels so special to enjoy the whole space to yourself. Check in was easy and Denise gave us great tips and had the fire lit for our arrival. The kitchen is very well equipped and the pool table and bar provide a great setting for evening entertainment. There are five bedroom upstairs, each with ensuite and the master bedroom has incredible views over the sea. We ate in a lot (and used the fab dining room for a special dinner with the fire lit) but also went to The Pilot Bar about twenty mins away (great food and Guinness) and Pudding Row about five mins away for a great lunch/breakfast. Can’t recommend this property highly enough if you love relaxed and authentic old style luxury in the most beautiful Atlantic setting.

  • Beautiful house in a beautiful rural location. Great for a big family get together or just a relaxing weekend. Communication with Molly was great. The only down side is that the house is old and was pretty cold when we got there. My guess is that no one had stayed in a while. It took nearly 2 days of having the heat on for it to warm up. However it was the middle of December and it's not something that would stop me from staying again!

    Emma2018-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a space big enough for the family to celebrate my mother's birthday and we could not have been happier with this listing! From the start communication with Molly was great as she was also available for any questions we had. The house itself is incredible and exactly what you see in the photographs. The house is beautifully decorated and at times it feels like you have travelled back in time. The pool table and bar made for great entertainment. The house is also well located within a few minutes drive to the village of Easky and the coast. We have already started planning our next trip.

    Eoin2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, we've stayed as a group (11 ppl plus 2.5 year old kid) and had great fun, chilling by the fireplaces, dining in the huge sun-lit dining room, having drinks by the bar and playing pool. Surfing is available in ~20 min drive (sand beach, great for beginners). Will definitely try to visit this lovely house again!

    Ksenia2018-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Molly was a great host and the accommodations were unbelievable! The best spot we stayed on our 2 week trip. Highly highly recommend and can’t wait to hopefully return!

    Molly2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is special. It has been renovated and equipped by Molly and her friend with great care for detail and respect for the original style, but leaving room for fesh air. She was a perfect host, caring and available and open-minded. Breakfast was renarkable with 6 guests on the large kitchen-table and Molly around. Definitely an A+ and recommendable in the Sligo region. We loved it.

  • I highly recommend staying with Molly, she is an outstanding host. She made myself and my partner feel very welcomed and at home. She gave us local tips on the area and made the most amazing breakfast. Her manor is absolutely stunning, fantastic views with history and style that will take your breath away.

  • We had a fantastic time in beautiful Easky staying at Molly's place. She was responsive over messages in advance and we appreciated being met by someone to show us around the house when we arrived. Definitely recommend this place!

  • Probably the best Airbnb experience I've ever had! My girlfriend Annie and I greatly enjoyed our time in Easky staying in Molly and Ward's grand house. The building has been returned to glory from ruin, and hearing all about the renovation was fascinating. Molly and Ward are the perfect hosts for such a fabulous home, we enjoyed drinks at the bar and in front of the fire, as well as some incredible musical talent. We cannot recommend this Airbnb enough! Thanks again! Annie and Jon

  • Molly was wonderful from the beginning to the end. Everything was very straightforward and easy. The house itself is just beautiful, we didn't want to leave! Definitely go for a swim in the seapool!

  • We had 2 lovely nights in Molly and Ward's house. The house is big and light filled and cosy. We felt very much at home all the time. Thanks to Ward for the great breakfasts.

  • Absolutely stunning place to stay. Hosts were delightful.

    Tom2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Molly welcomed us with a lovely smile and a cup of tea, a thankful sight for weary travellers. It was wonderful to stay at such a beautiful old house that had been so sympathetically restored. The rooms were spacious and one had a panoramic view of the coastline. Molly was helpful in providing information on restaurants for our evening meal. Our breakfast was provided and cooked beautifully by Molly. It was a treat to spend our night in your historic home.
