  • My boyfriend and I stayed for two night and loved every minute. Both nights we cooked on the barbecue but there are plenty of local places to eat. It was quite chilly at night but with the wood burner and all the extra blankets provided we didn’t overly notice it. Could not recommend the tipi enough. Jeremy and Nuala were outstanding hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely try and stay again.

  • Brilliant night ‘glamping’ in true style. Jerry met us at the door and showed us the gorgeous tipi. There was a comfy double bed inside with a chair and foot stall, a picnic basket with cutlery, some plates and beers for us, and lots of extra blankets should we need them. Jerry was very kind and helpful, as was his lovely wife. We bought some food in a supermarket and used the microwave to have a night in the tipi watching movies on an iPad. The solar lights are a great touch and make the tent look really cosy. There was also a small wood burner outside that we didn’t use as it was nice and warm anyway, and a table a chairs which were where we had breakfast before heading off for a day paddle-boarding.

    Tadhgh2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely friendly hosts. Great breakfast. Would highly recommend

    Dean2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The tipi was really quirky and had great attention to detail inside. We were really surprised at the space, as there was more than many double rooms I've stayed in in some hotels! Unfortunately the town had no running water at the time we stayed, but we were given plenty of extra drinking water which was really appreciated given that the water situation was out of their control. A really good stay if you are looking for a cheaper and somewhat different experience.

A small slice of paradise on the sunny side of Lough Derg:-) The boathouse is self contained with full kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine bed. Private veranda with seating for 2 and a small BBQ. (No pets allowed)
  • Unreal spot will defo be back Barry is a top man 🤝

    Jamie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best AirBnB's that I've ever stayed in, and completely represents everything that is great about this platform - a unique space, in a beautiful location, hosted by a genuinely friendly and welcoming person. The place is exactly as described - it is right on the water and the doors and windows frame the lake beautifully and make it feel like the lake is all yours. Barry is a great host - on hand for anything we needed! Can't recommend this place enough.

    Tim2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a lovely spot right beside Lough Derg. Very peaceful and calm. The place is cosy and clean. The only issue I found is that the cabin isn’t very private. There are blinds on most windows but they don’t give much privacy and it’s easy for someone to come around without much warning. Apart from that everything is absolutely great - I would defiantly recommend. A very relaxing little spot.

    Dora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spot to while away a few days and get away from it all. It's a bird watchers paradise, even has a resident kingfisher. If you get up early enough you will see him close up along with the sunrise over the lake. Magical. Barry is the perfect host and lives behind so all your needs are well looked after. If you have a canoe or stand up it's an ideal spot to get on this beautiful stretch of water. The stove in the evening is really cosy and the boathouse has everything you need. Be aware that the climb up and down to the mezzanine bed is short but properly vertical. Fine for the average person. I loved the time I spent there and have it on my list to go back.

    Orla2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Little house in dream about the lake. Waking up in the morning overlooking the lake and the coast on the other side and falling asleep to the sound of the water next to the wood burning fireplace. A true haven of peace and tranquility. In addition Barry worried that we were at all times at ease, he left us with fresh firewood and recommendations on places to visit. Thanks Barry for your kindness !!

    Paula2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Barry's spot on the Lough Derg is a dream! So idyllic! Barry and his Mam's hospitality was great too! They kindly gave us a lift to the local pub one of the nights and Barry arranged a lift for us off a neighbour on the way home. It was a lovely tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Dublin.

    Orla2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pop's dream was absolutely incredible. If you like seclusion and an incredible view this little spot is just the place. We had an absolute fantastic time and only wish we could've stayed longer!

    Matthew2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little spot for a romantic getaway. Quaint and peaceful. Getting up the stairs was a bit tricky. Barry is a lovely chap and was very welcoming as was his mum. Would recommend to anyone.

The kitchen has all the necessary equipment, the dishes are very good and there is availability of coffee and tea (we love it!).The host wasn't present in our stay, but was always available and attentive. We had a lot of privacy and for that we appreciated that the choice was right. Highly recommend and hope to return.

  • Ruth is a terrific host who was quick to greet us immediately on checkin and offer some local food and drink places to visit. Furthermore, due to uncertainty with the corona virus we weren’t sure where we were going to stay or possibly even be trapped in Ireland. Ruth was quick to offer up her place to us until we got sorted, and was nothing but nice and thoughtful with recommendations on what to do. Thank you Ruth!!

  • The Loft is by far one of the cosiest places myself and my girlfriend have stayed in. In the heart of the Irish countryside, you'll find yourself staying in a modern and stylish apartment that is cared for by wonderful hosts that manage to make you feel right at home whether you come from 10 minutes away or 100 miles away. As we booked it for Valentine's day, little touches were added by our hosts that really made the experience that much more wonderful.

    Jody2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, sparkling clean space. Perfect for the relaxing getaway we were looking for. Great extra touches like breakfast in the fridge! Would recommend.

Recently awarded 'Most Unique Listing in Ireland' by Airbnb! This cabin is nestled in a tranquil woodland setting, with uninterrupted panoramic views over Lough Derg all the way to the Sliabh Aughty hills in Galway. The cabin is far away from busy roads and street lights and is a haven of birdsong, starry nights and spectacular sunsets with "one of the best views we have ever woken up to". Fully equipped with kitchen, bathroom and lofted bedroom; and is suitable for all seasons.
You have a seperate entrance and car parking facility. We live adjacent to the cabin but it is not overlooked. The cabin was designed and built by Stephen (a master carpenter) who was inspired by the 'Tiny Homes Movement' which advocates living simply on a smaller scale. It is built from locally sourced timber, is fully insulated and has low voltage led lighting; all designed to increase sustainability and minimise the environmental impact. Although small in scale, the cabin contains everything you could need for a perfect holiday experience.
This area is far from the busy tourist trails and is a well-kept secret haven of natural beauty. However, our central location means you are only an hour from the 'Wild Atlantic Way' and less than two hours from Dublin.
  • We loved the spot and the setting. Highly recommended!

  • Steve and Aine are wonderful hosts. They picked and dropped us in Nenagh city centre as we didn't have our own vehicle. They provided us with all the essentials we asked for and helped quickly. The house itself is so full of amenities that we enjoyed every bit of the "Human nest." Enjoyed the nature at it's best. Birds chirping and the smell of the wet ground and grass was therapeutic and made us feel content. Amazing place to stay. Go for it. ♥️🙂

Daisy’s Cottage nestled in a private avenue with private Lake access. Just a stones throw from Garrykennedy village. Newly renovated, this cottage is packed with charm and ideal for a lake getaway. Fishing, Sailing and Irish pubs close by.
  • Nestled beside a beautiful harbour. There is a local pub down the road, the Larkins that had friendly people and delicious home made food and music. We stayed 2 weeks, it was very peaceful and we got rained in for a week and there was plenty of space for everyone and everything, it was warm and comfortable and clean and the kitchen was very enjoyable using. The surroundings are peaceful and there is plenty of privacy. HIGHLY recommend a visit here if you're just passing though, or if you want somewhere to relax and have peace and quiet, also not far from a little shop for supplies and there are several towns nearby where you can drive for a day out.

The cottage is in the grounds of owner's home with private courtyard set amidst farm and woodland. It features a roll top bath, log burning stove and beautiful antique furniture but with all mod cons. Two miles from village with pub/restaurant and lough Derg famous for fishing and sailing.
This cottage is very peaceful, a great place to unwind, but also very central so a great base for traveling around Ireland. There is a twin room and double room both ensuite, one with a shower and the bath room has a hand held shower. The cottage is south facing and looks out onto a lovely courtyard.
Very attractive countryside and close to beautiful lough Derg.
  • A beautiful and quiet cottage with lovely furnishings and comfortable rooms. A real treat to find scones and tea and coffee on arrival. Perfect location for visiting Lough Derg too.

  • The hole is such an unusual quirky and interesting place... Very cosy and welcoming... We were treated to home made cider on our arrival and loved hearing the story about the hole. It is situated in such a pretty area and after arriving in the dark, we loved waking up to be surrounded by green and enjoyed having our breakfast in the front garden. Thank you so much! Em and Oli

  • Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Hole. The accommodation was spotless and spacious and I wanted for nothing. It is indeed a quaint location with woodland in front and in an area where peace and solitude can easily be found in the place itself and in the nearby roads and lanes. I was reminded of W.B. Yeat's lovely lines while I was here: 'And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings'. It is situated on the ancient 'auld road' which was once a main thoroughfare between Connaught and Munster. This road has much history associated with it. Valerie and Dave were very attentive hosts throughout my stay and I got a lovely treat of fresh organic eggs from them one morning. Paddy

  • We had a lovely stay here. The house is fun and homely, the garden space is so peaceful and Valerie and Dave could not be more thoughtful as hosts. We had fresh flowers in every room on arrival and Valerie was so helpful with communicating beforehand. Nearby Portna forest park is lovely too

Imagine being transported back through five centuries and having a unique, romantic "overknighter" in The Great Hall of our authentic 16th century Irish castle. A sanctuary from the modern world, The Black Castle is nestled amongst the beautiful rolling hills of North Tipperary (it's not such a long way!) with stunning Lough Derg, and all that it has to offer, on our doorstep
UPDATE Winter is going ;-) and most of our available overknighters for 2020 have now been booked. Please see our availability calendar for the last remaining dates. An "overknighter" in The Great Hall is the closest you can come to experience living in the 16th century....a rustic retreat for history and nature lovers, artists or anyone looking to totally disconnect from the 21st century. Our location is rural so if you're looking for bright lights, big city this may not be the place for you but if you like bright stars and big skies and being surrounded by nature.... Built by the O'Kennedys in the 1500's, The Black Castle's rugged realm is surrounded by fields, forestry and ancient woods and bordered by a crystal-clear stream. Access is via its own private road, with no passing traffic, just off The Lough Derg Scenic Drive. You will be staying in our authentically furnished Great Hall, sleeping in our beautiful, bespoke King size bed... fit for royalty with finest quality bedding, Egyptian cotton sheets, luxurious duvet and pillows. Our quest is to offer you the most unique, authentic castle experience possible and to recreate the atmosphere of what it would be like to immerse yourself in the 16th century. This means there are all the mod-cons one would expect 500 years ago.... ie there is NO modern heating (except the magnificent open fireplace and hot water bottles). There is NO TV, NO CD/DVD player and with very limited internet connection...gasp, NO WiFi. It's the perfect opportunity to take a break from the constant intrusions of modern life. For relaxation and entertainment there are books to browse and games provided including replica 18th century playing cards, Backgammon, a delightful Lewis Chess set and a Fidchell (Celtic chess) set. There is NO ELECTRICITY whatsoever in The Great Hall, only the warm glow of candlelight and firelight (we provide abundant candles and fuel). Don't panic though! An Overknighter at The Black Castle doesn't mean you have to go completely back to The Dark Ages as THERE IS ELECTRICITY in the "kitchenette" (a room below The Great Hall). Here you'll find a mini fridge/freezer, an electric kettle, a DeLonghi coffee machine with a variety of Nespresso coffees, two induction cooking rings, a Smeg toaster and a Belfast sink with hot and cold running water. A Continental style breakfast is provided which includes speciality teas, quality coffee, rustic bread, cereals, yogurts, juice, fruit and local produce (where possible). Tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, potato farls and bacon are also provided if you would like to cook yourself a hot breakfast. A welcome hamper, with a sweet treat or two, is also provided. You can recharge your phone, tablet etc in the kitchenette. The Great Hall is on the second floor and the only access is by our 16th century stone spiral staircase which means that the Black Castle may unfortunately not be suitable for those who have restricted mobility. NB: Authentically in keeping with the 16th century ;-) there is NO SHOWER or BATH at the castle. The "BATHROOM" consists of an eco-friendly DRY TOILET (composting toilet/"gardaloo"© Cody Long ;-) thank you!) Natural, handmade soap and hand towels are provided. We are doing as much as we can to minimise our carbon footprint/ environmental impact (and preserve the 16th century atmosphere) so there are no fluffy dressing gowns or single-use slippers provided. We have also kept any "landscaping" to a minimum in an effort to support the local wildlife #beefriendlyairbeenbee The castle will be EXCLUSIVELY YOUR SPACE during your stay. We are on site, only a minute or two away in case you need us for anything, but out of sight during your visit. Not only is the castle exclusively yours during your overknighter, venture outside and there's 13 rugged acres for you to explore too. Next to the campfire, there’s rustic seating for dining al fresco if the weather is fine. We are slowly restoring The Black Castle but The Great Hall is now complete. By choosing to stay here you will become entwined in the castle's history (and its future!) as any "profit" we make from your overknighter goes straight back into the restoration, meaning you're helping The Black Castle "earn its keep", enabling it to stand proud for another 500 years. Speaking of 500 years, this is an ancient building, not built for modern standards/sensibilities so please bear this in mind. The Black Castle is approximately an hour’s drive north east of Shannon International airport, via the M7 motorway, 2 hours via the M50/M7 motorway from Dublin/Dublin International airport. It's roughly a ten to fifteen min drive to the popular lakeside villages of Dromineer and Terryglass, and fifteen min drive south to Nenagh town (recently named "Ireland's second friendliest place"). The pretty village of Puckaun is about 5 min away and has a grocery shop and two pubs. Unfortunately, there is no public transport in the area so you will require your own mode of transport. We want you to have an unforgettable experience (in the best way) at The Black Castle so if you’re the adventurous type who is looking for something unique and can happily survive without some 21st Century comforts for one or two nights then this might just be the place for you. Any questions about your stay, please feel free to ask me. This really is a beautiful area, with lots of accommodation and eating options, and if you would like to spend more time exploring it before or after your overknighter at The Black Castle we would be happy to provide more information and suggestions.
Beautiful Lough Derg is just up the road with sailing, fishing and other water sports on offer. Our rural location and dark skies means great stargazing too!
  • I knew this experience was going to be special, but I couldn’t have imagined just how special. Sonja was so communicative and helpful (and patient!), and when I arrived I walked into the magical space to find candles lit, a sweet note, and everything just beyond perfect. She went over and above what was expected. The bed was the best I have slept in in two trips to Ireland....felt like a queen! It’s impossible to convey how it feels to stay in this magical space - but I didn’t want to leave, and I can’t wait to come back!

    Suzanne2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give this experience 10 stars I would. It’s hard to express how special being in this place is... all the history, combined with all the obvious labors of love that Sonja and Kevin have put into it in order to provide a once in a lifetime experience for the rest of us is just mind boggling. I keep pinching myself - and I’ve done a lot of traveling in my time. I am so grateful, and Sonja has been amazing (and then some) from start to finish. INCREDIBLE!!!

    Suzanne2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the great experiences on offer anywhere. Having done a lot of outrageous adventures, this is right at the top. An absolutely stunning renovation of a 16th century tower, the physical space is matched by the wonderful hospitality of Sonja, Kevin , and Tilly. You will never forget your stay at the Black Castle. Please, do yourself a favour and visit. Honestly one of world's great places, with some of the world's best hosts. Incredible.

    Roland2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic setting. You are transported back in time with a lovingly resorted home. The friendly welcome of our host makes this fantastic getaway well worth the trip.

    Aldrin2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place....this place is breathtaking. There aren't enough positive adjectives in the English language that I can leave here. Words just don't do it justice. The castle is amazing - majestic. Kevin and Sonja put so much love into restoring a relic, and you can feel the spirit of it throughout the building. Not only was the castle and its amenities incredible - Kevin and Sonja were incredible people. They were amazing hosts that my partner and I now consider friends. Their hospitality is unmatched. I don't want to go through and explain every personal touch they left for us - I'd rather the traveler be surprised. I can't recommend this place enough. Amazing, amazing experience.

    Brandon2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A truly magical experience! When you walk through the doors of the black castle you step back 500 years in time. The hosts have perfected every detail on the furnishings and interior to make your stay amazing! Best of all is they are the friendliest most hospitable people you will meet. This was the best night of our honeymoon trip, like a medieval fairy tale come true. It is an experience we will never forget. If you are looking for a unique and authentic castle experience this is a must on your list!

    Gina2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Awesome. Incredible. These words can't even describe the entire experience Sonja and Kevin and Tilly provide. This was by far the highlight of our 9 day trip. Absolutely fantastic!

    William2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a fairytale castle with all the beautiful perks and Kevin & Sonja made sure to make us feel extra special for our upcoming wedding. Absolutely, surreal place to stay!

  • The most wonderful place for a family retreat. Kilteelagh House treated us well! Plenty of room for our group of 14. We already miss our walks and the views of the garden and the lake.

  • We had a lovely time staying here. It is a huge place, and very relaxing. We look forward to coming again.

    Melia2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful long weekend at Kilteelagh House! We were 9 adults and 9 children (aged 1yr to 12yrs) and had everything we needed. The house exceeds any expectation as it’s hard to capture its magic in the photos. We felt very at home and received great communication from both Nina (the owner) and Trish (the housekeeper). Trish was also invaluable with local knowledge and suggestions. The house was warm and clean, kitchen was stocked well, there were plenty of fresh towels, WiFi in every room and the house itself is beautiful. The kids all had a ball, playing in the grounds and in the Thuja tree complete with fairy door and wooden animals. There’s a long tree swing and direct access to Lough Derg. We were a few mins from Dromineer village where there is an aqua park during summer months. And there are a handful of nice restaurants in easy reach. I would highly recommend staying here for an extra special experience!

    Sarah2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Estate was wonderful. Our family had a marvelous time and would recommend it. Plenty of room to spread out and morning walks on the property are a must.

    Ann2018-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kilteelagh House far surpassed our expectations (which were pretty high going in based on the prior reviews). The pictures cannot do justice to what a special place this is. There is plenty of space for a large group to spread out and have their own space. The history and decor of the house just added to the enjoyment of our time there. The grounds around the house, from the views of the lake to the various gardens to the lawns to the fairy gardens, are just amazing. Our group of 16 ranged in age from 7 years old to 70's and everyone was in agreement in their love of the accommodations. It is a secluded hideaway that is peaceful and quiet, but still a short walk from the village of Dromineer to visit the cafe, waterpark or pub. Trish was absolutely amazing throughout our entire stay, going above and beyond time and time again to make sure we had what we needed and that we were well looked after. Nina is a great host who also was beyond helpful during our stay. A huge thank you to both of you for helping to make sure it was a 50th wedding anniversary trip my parents and my family will never forget.

  • Beautiful house in a beautiful location. A group of us celebrated New Years here and would all highly recommend! House is very very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked which makes it the perfect place to spend a few days with friends.

    Conor2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • My family returned today from a week at Kilteelagh House where we gathered our clan ranging from my 91 year old father to his 8 month old great grandson. It was heartwarming to have us under one roof celebrating my father. This home is even more spectacular than the photos and our clan enjoyed walking to nearby Dromineer for a pint and a session, or the Lake House for breakfast. Gorgeous fresh flower arrangements, beautiful bed linens and plaid Irish throws around the house, homemade brown bread, and horses grazing in the front pasture all added to the charm of this rental. We used Nenagh as our launching point and visited The Aran Islands, Galway, Limerick and Dublin and our golfers played Doonbeg and Lahinch, but we enjoyed returning to the tranquility of Kilteelagh House each evening. My father truly enjoyed his conversations with Trish the caretaker and John the gardener, who shared so much history of this grand home and were generous with their time. We would highly recommend this house for a family who appreciates old world grandeur.

    Pete2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really wonderful stay at Cillian's place in Garykennedy with my husband and daughter. The grounds are truly spectacular with views over the Shannon and a your very own 13th century "Rapunzel tower" to explore. It was a great base for us to visit family, friends, and the local area. The cottage was very spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of room for us to have guests to stay over. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived and the heating worked well. We also lit cosy fires as the weather was quite cold. It was an added bonus to have two bathrooms, and fantastic to have a washing machine and a dryer for our 10 day stay. Cillian was an excellent host and we would definitely come back again. We can also recommend the great food and drinks in Larkin's pub.

    Isabelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing accomodatin and great experience for everyone who wants to enjoy the perfect nature of Ireland in solitude. Cillian is a very nice and willing person you must meet in Ireland.

  • This cottage is located in beautiful countryside with lovely grounds/garden and orchard to wander around. Stunning view of the nearby lake. The cottage is comfortable with everything you might need if you want to stay in or there is also Larkin's pub in walking distance which has excellent food, great atmosphere and great Irish music the night we visited. Would highly recommend this property.

    Jennifer2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful location right near the lough and loads of things to do around the area. Good music Sunday night at Larkins. Struggled a bit with the oven as more technical than we have at home. Had great weather to sit in the grounds and listen to the birds. The beds were sooo comfy. Really relaxing stay thank you!

    Elizabeth2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cillian's. House was clean and in a beautiful location. Cillian was most friendly and pleasant to deal with.

    Brian2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed three nights at the beautiful coach house, it is peaceful, quiet with a great view of the lake. It was warm and cozy and had everything we needed for a most memorable stay. Just down the road is the famous Larkin’s restaurant where we had dinner twice, it was superb. Cillian is a wonderful host and I highly recommend a stay at the coach house !!!

Warm and friendly house in the middle of a lovely village.Enjoy lough derg and it's surrounding areas in the beautiful house near the lake and in the heart of the village. This is the ideal location for coolbawn quay, ashley park house and Nenagh weddings.
Puckane is an attractive and bustling village and includes Kennedy's Bar, long favoured by musicians and song-writers alike with songwriters such as Shane MacGowan and Christy Moore immortalising the village in songs. The village was a favourite holiday spot of the actor Gene Kelly, famed for the classic Singin' in the Rain. Puckane is nearby to the eastern shores of Lough Derg, Ireland's largest pleasure lake, with its renowned boating and sailing clubs and scenic walking and cycling routes. Nenagh town is just 6 miles or 9 kilometres away and has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. The lakeside village of Dromineer, home to one of the oldest yacht clubs in the world, is just 6 kilometres away.
  • Grainne was very helpful and had lots of breakfast food ready for us. We also had nice towels and toiletries in the bathroom. She was very quick to reply and give us relevant information and we were very happy with our stay overall.

  • Lovely house to stay in, Grainne was very accommodating and welcoming. Really enjoyed my stay.

    Adrian2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Grainne's house is amazing. It is like a haven after cramped hotel rooms. It is exceptionally clean with great amenities. Grainne is a wonderful host who goes out of her way to be helpful and to make sure her guest's stay in perfect. The village is very close to lots of amazing sites and the surrounding garden and countryside is lovely. We have even met some of Grainne's family and some very friendly and helpful locals in the village. I can't recommend staying here highly enough. It is such a pleasant change from touristy towns and cities yet close enough to drive to attractions. I will definitely stay here again if we return to Ireland.

  • We have really enjoyed this house! The combination of nature and tranquility makes that magical place! It is a country house where we find the rest we need and it is also a good bridge to visit almost all of Ireland. The kindness of Carla and her family also want to stand out, and her puppies too

  • We had the most wonderful relaxing stay and couldn't ask for more. Our hosts were amazing friendly kind and made their home feel like ur home. Spotless clean cosy so much I didn't want to leave. Highly recommend as a place to stay and leave the hustle and bustle behind .

    Sinead2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is perfect. This is the perfect spot for a true 'rural Irish experience'. You can walk the grounds, feed the donkeys, play with the puppies in the large field, talk to the landowners, take a walk to the harbor, go to the local pub... The location is beautiful and quaint. The space is unique, true to the times (1700s) and CLEAN. We only spent 2 nights. I would recommend 4 at minimum. The internet is slow and weak, but you don't go to rural Ireland to watch Netflix, so....

    Asia2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy rural accommodation with friendly, warm and knowledgeable hosts. Our kids loved playing with the animals and exploring the grounds. Carol gave us great local tips on places to visit and eat. A great place to switch off and unwind.

Dromineer is a beautiful village on the shores of lough Derg it is halfway to all tours attractions. Shannon saline is only a few minutes walk away from the house and so is Shannon saline. The whisky still bar that serves fabulous food is two doors away and in the summer months they have traditionally music.. The lakeside cafe is a walk away and all so have fantastic homemade food. A safe and friendly playground is in the village. There is Something for everyone to do.
    A bouble room with ensuite
Very warm and friendly atmosphere about the village.
  • True to the description, room with charming decoration. House easy to find, 2 steps from the shores of the lake. Bernie is very welcoming and accommodating. We recommend.

  • Bernie and Willie are hospitality incarnate. I felt like a member of the family from the second we met Bernie a huge beaming smile. The place was amazing but the hospitality was the best I've ever experienced!

  • Bernie is a fantastic host. She is very prompt with her responses to queries. She has a lock box so you can gain access when she is not there, so it means that you are not tied down to arriving at a particular time. Bernie's home is lovely and comfortable and very welcoming. The place is spotlessly clean and has tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and there is a range of cereals, fruit, yogurt and juice available for breakfast for whoever would like to have breakfast. When I arrived back after my walk, Bernie had the fire lighting in the guest sitting room. Honestly, this place is better than a hotel and it is in a beautiful location. I haven't stopped telling people about it!!!

Dromineer is a lovely village it has fantastic views plenty to do for everyone. Shannon saline is a 5 minutes walk away so is lough Derg Yate Clud. A lovely coffee shop that serves homemade food. The whisky still bar and restaurant is two doors away they have fabulous food and music every Friday night.
I have 6 rooms in total I can sleep up to 12 people it is ideal for families or groups looking to get away on a not so expensive holiday. a sitting room with sky and tea and coffee facilities a selection of cereals and a cooking area for guests to use.
Dromineer is a fantastic place to live it's views of lough Derg are breathtaking.
  • Bernie and Willie were great hosts, the room was just as seen in the photos, very nice and a very comfortable bed. Fresh bed linen and towels/robes ready and waiting for us. The house has some lovely features and humorous quotes scattered throughout. The views from the upstairs are breathtaking and can be seen in full view from a 2 minute walk down the road. The 'local' pub and restaurant are just literally 2 doors down but in addition, there is a lovely pub/restaurant in Dromineer which is only 5 minutes by car. The communal breakfast/living room space was ideal. Sky TV on a large screen, plenty of comfortable sofa's for the guests to relax upon and a good range of breakfast items available, as well as a fridge and microwave. I would highly recommend staying here, whether it be for one night or a few at a time, you will be very much welcomed. We now plan to visit this lovely part of Ireland again within the near future and will definitely be staying with Bernie again, for a few days next time.

  • Helen’s place was perfectly suited for our needs. The accommodation was really lovely and clean. The bed was genuinely the comfiest bed I think I have ever slept in! Helen’s hosting was second to none, our trip was slightly awkward and meant we were returning from a wedding early hours of the morning but this wasn’t an issue and Helen made us feel very welcome. Overall, a very lovely experience!

  • Helen is a lovely host, very welcoming and kind, and communicates clearly about everything. The house is in a stunning part of Ireland and is very comfortable with everything I needed. I enjoyed my visit to Dromineer a lot and recommend this house to everyone.

  • The property is located right in the centre of Dromineer. The room had direct views of Lough Derg. The local pub which is across the road had lovely food and was great for a few drinks. It's about a 10 second walk. Bliss. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Great shower in our private bathroom. Helen was a great host. This room was absolutely ideal for our night in Tipperary.
