  • If you want somewhere you can chill out in front of a fire watching some Netflix then this is the place. Located in a quiet countryside area, it is peaceful and relaxing. It is a 10 minute drive from a few towns and 20 minutes to the nearest city so it’s not too far into the middle of nowhere. The highlight for me and my boyfriend was the big old school bath (I had 2 baths during our short stay!!) Linn and Stuart were the most amazing hosts. I’ve honestly never met friendlier hosts! They even invited us into their house for a chat when we were checking out. And their dog was the most friendliest thing giving us lots of hugs and kisses on arrival. Highly recommend this place 😌

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is a lovely wee spot for a getaway. Full of nice little touches and Linn is a lovely host. Would love to be back at some point.

  • Linn and Stuart's place was the best spot for a weekend of utter relaxation. They were so lovely and welcoming and had scones there for us and had thought of everything. It really felt like a home away from home, I'd definitely recommend it as a fabulous place to stay. Pet friendly was a huge bonus too 🐈

  • Fantastic spot to curl up and get away from everything. Booked it just after Christmas and it was exactly what we needed. Lovely restored byre with fabulous wood buring stove which included ample supply of coal and logs. All the tv and wifi you need, bed fantastic and overall feel of the whole place is just homely. Location is perfect, just 10 mins to Hillsborough, and 5 to Dromore and Dromara. Belfast 20 or so mins away. All easy drives. Linn and Stewart are so hospitable and make you feel right at home straight away. Couldn't have asked for better. Hope to see you again soon Linn and Steward...perhaps with an additional little person in tow! Thanks again, Eoin and Linda

  • We are a group of hikers, we stayed in Lynda's cottage because of it's closeness to the Mournes. Lynda made us feel very welcome, the house is amazing: it is very well restored to it's original tradition design, but is fully modern and cozy inside. The location and views are superb, we really enjoyed our stay and really recommend the cottage.

Loads of information on local things to see and do readily available. Lynda was a fab host - she was so welcoming and nothing was too much to ask. We will be back soon! Thank you xo

Our place is 4 star Tourist Board accredited farmhouse, close to the Dromara Hills, Slieve Croob Scenic Loop, Newcastle, Castlewellan Forest Park, Mourne Mountains, Hillsborough. We have a silver Green Tourism award and Welcome Host accreditation Our place is good for couples, business travellers, families, pets, golfers film crews and cyclists
Our accommodation is very rural, on a working farm, allowing guests to experience peaceful country life. They are welcome to experience or ignore farming culture! While we are in the country and a car is a necessity, we are a good base for visitors who want to explore most of Northern Ireland and are within easy reach both of Eire and the famous Causeway Coast. We are only 6-9 miles from the main A1 - Belfast/ Dublin road, have ample private parking, can provide secure accommodation for bicycles, motorbikes, prize winning dogs, even for larger "show" animals if required.
Our neighbourhood is very scenic farmland, with the Dromara hills nearby. Lots of locals walk dogs on the road and are always friendly and curious to meet and talk to visitors. There are sheep, cattle and horses in abundance, not to forget our own donkey "Florence" who loves a carrot, apple or grape treat. The road is an important and challenging cycle route /the drumlins of County Down
  • Annette’s house is very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. We received a warm welcome from Annette with some delicious homemade scones! The fire in the stove was ready to light, even though the house was warm and cosy, it was a real treat. Lots of information was provided on the local area and things to do. A wonderful stay in a beautiful area!

    Cathy2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Anette’s house. Anette was great communication wise before our stay, check in was quick and efficient, so was the check out. The house was very comfortable, clean, it had everything you needed.

    Natalia2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home from home. Super clean, lovely comfy beds, best shower! Hosts are brilliant, even leaving homemade scones on arrival. Beautiful towels and bedding. Our best air bnb to date! Great value for money and we would definitely stay again. Only thing to note if you are travelling with younger children and or dogs the outside space does access straight onto the road.

    Harry2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing! Very clean, comfortable and quiet. I had an excellent experience. I strongly recommend Annete's place.

  • This was a great place, super cosy and comfortable. It is quite a drive to places (only 20 or so to Newcastle). However the location is perfect for a refreshing getaway and is set in beautiful scenery. Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly also.

    Rachel2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful country home with amazing hosts

    Peter2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house sparkling clean. Felt like home from home. Decor was fabulous. Comfortable beds and linen was spotlessly clean and fresh. Great shower and lovely clean towels. Everything you could need was supplied. Only two of us stayed but plenty of room and own space for families sharing, what with the two sitting rooms available. House was warm and very comfortable. Traveled with show dogs which were made very welcome. Handy security light and level concreted ground around the house so it was very safe underfoot.

    Dawn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house was impeccable the location perfect and I can’t sing praises high enough of Annette and Ivan. What a wonderful couple!

  • Roberta & Terry have been wonderful host. Nice location and a lovely house. I would give 7 stars for the service.

    Andrew2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 2nd time at Sunnyvale, and Roberta and Terry are the most wonderful and caring hosts we have ever met. Always there to help, and ready for a good chat. The house is located in the beautiful countryside and has a panoramic look over the mountains, and with cute horses and sheep nearby. The house itself has a good layout, nice and comfy beds, fully-equipped kitchen and is spotless. A very good place to relax - it was our 2nd stay, but definitely not the last.

  • Lovely house to stay in. A home from home.

    Kate2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Roberta and husband are excellent hosts. We were welcomed with a warm hand shake and Easter bunnies. My wife is a quilter, and I asked Roberta about any local material shops, not being a quilter she didn't know but was back in five minutes with the details of a local shop, thank you. The house was spotless and very well equipped. We really needed to bring nothing as Roberta had thought of everything; from butter in the cupboard to spare toothbrushes, shampoo to a great welcome basket of bread, biscuits, crisps and cereal. With tea coffee and milk supplied breakfast was sorted. It made a great base for a couple of days break, thanks.

    Andrew2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay, full of thoughtful extras, with a warm welcome and laid-back, accommodating help.

  • Had a great weekend in Roberts's house. Great hospitality offered and we were looked after incredibly well. The house was very well equipped with everything we could need, including being fully decorated for Christmas.

    Nuala2018-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Roberta is a superhost in every sense of the word. We were made to feel welcome and instantly at home thanks to a number of thoughtful touches. The house was decorated for hallowe’en with treats for the kids, and a thoughtful welcome basket greeted us. The house was spotless and well provisioned with everything we could need. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay there.

A converted barn, a wonderful space for a couple as cosy but also for a family as has a large kitchen and use of a big playroom. Just outside Hillsborough (2 miles) enjoy the peace of the countryside whilst not being too far from the sights. (Belfast 30 mins, Dublin 1hr 30mins, North Coast, Giants Causeway, 1hr 30mins). Larchfield Estate, wedding venue, 5 minutes drive away. You have complete privacy from us but if you need any advice while here we are just across the yard.
Seperate converted barn. A triple/four bed room (single with pull out to make double) and a double room with a shared bathroom. Large kitchen and sitting room with TV. No open fire but oil fired central heating. There is a covered area with table tennis and use of a large playroom.
We are situated very close to the historical village of Hillsborough with its lovely castle and gardens. Belfast is 30 minutes drive away and Dublin 2 hours.
  • Just a gorgeous, homely and peaceful haven in the country. Those few extra miles from Belfast are well worth it.

    Caroline2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very warm welcome, quick responses and lovely host. Teamed up with a beautiful home from home with stunning views.

    Rebecca2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is a lovely place - quiet and relaxing, it is a good place to experience Irish farmhouse life. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and they have a lovely dog that made our puppy welcome. The house had lots of board games which our son enjoyed playing. For us it was a great place to relax after long dog walks and visiting family & friends. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.

  • This is our groups 4th time staying here and it is always a great experience. Hope to be back again soon.

    Alan2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at a time of crisp and starry autumnal nights, when Lucinda’s place was a bright and warm haven at the end of a cold day. Deliciously deep mattresses, crisp clean and white bed cottons, a homely and useful welcome pack (eggs from the hens in the garden, butter, bread, home made jam, milk) all made us feel so welcome. Tea time round the large farmhouse kitchen table was the highlight of every day with ample space for old friends and relatives to visit us whilst we were there. Lucinda is the perfect hostess, full to bursting with local knowledge and recommendations. The barn, the perfect location at the hub of the old farm site yet entirely private and secluded for those who want to feel they got away from it all. Hillsborough Castle is a delight, and the village a real gem for visitors to County Down.

    Lucy2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful ‘barn’ set in a picturesque location. Thank you both for allowing us to share your beautiful home. Overwhelmed by your generosity and the treats and finishing touches you left us. My friend dreamed of visiting Ireland, staying in the middle of nowhere in a lovely cottage., you succeeded in that and more. We are extremely thankful and look forward to seeing you again, you’ve not seen the last of us!

  • A really lovely place in a great location. Lucinda makes you very welcome and the house is spotlessly clean, with great facilities. Especially perfect for families with young children as Lucinda has made a lot of effort to provide things for them to do.

    Louise2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A spacious lovely place to stay if you’re looking for a rural setting with lots of charm. Lucinda is very easy going and there are plenty of games to keep the kids amused as well as the trampoline and collecting eggs from the chickens. It really is the place to have a relaxing holiday with only a short drive into Hillsborough and surrounding areas. We took our 14 year old twin daughters and our mad Dalmatian and they all loved it. Would highly recommend ! Thanks Lucinda, Jill, Mark and the girls X

  • It was a 5 star experience. This airbnb exceeded my expectations. One of the best I have been to so far. The hosts go the extra mile to makes you feel at home and ensure you have everything that you need and more. The location is ideal as you have the lovely views of the country side while still being close to towns. Annelize's home comes highly recomended.

  • Super room with great views modern spacious clean everything one could want

    Jon2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely peaceful location. It is certainly an escape to the country. The way the accommodation is laid out is excellent. We where at one end of the property and were are not disturbed. Totally private. We couldn’t even hear any movement from the host and her family. Annelize is perfect. Couldn’t do enough for us. Stella and Zola (the basset hounds) were so loveable, my daughter adored them. I would highly recommend this place. Can’t say enough about it.

    Evelyn2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, clean. Lot of space. It was family with 2 kids. The host is very nice

    Anna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Annelize's home exceeded our expectations. The room was very clean, newly renovated, and very spacious. The property is beautiful! Great views of the countryside. Annelize and her husband were very welcoming and helped us find a restaurant nearby that was open on a bank holiday. The only downside was that we couldn't connect to the wifi in our room. But with views like that, who needs it. We would definitely stay there again.

    Lindsay2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Annelize is a very friendly and open host. Our communciation was easy and she replied quickly. The place itself is somewhat hidden, but through a google maps tag she sent me we had no trouble at all finding it. * thumbs up * The room with the additional kitchenette is wonderful. Great picturesque views over northern Irish plains in several directions and a very calm surrounding - with mostly sheep around. ;-) We were three people, a married couple and one single person, and had plenty of space for the three of us. We were visiting a friend in Dromore, which is 10-15 min by car, just what we expected. A good place for a calm stay for a couple of days!

    Sven2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Annelize place was perfect! Annelize and her husband are super friendly, their two kids funny and the dogs have a lot of love to give. The room was big and clean, the bed very comfortable and the view gorgeous, with amazing sunsets. We had our own privet bathroom, a fridge and a kitchenette all for us. The house is isolated in the countryside, in a quiet and beautiful place, but be aware that there is no way to go there by using public transportation. We didn't know that before having the exact address, but fortunately Annelize was kind enough to pick us up at Banbridge when we arrived, and she kindly drove us in town whenever we wanted. I would strongly recommend this place to people who are looking for a nice place to sleep while exploring Northen Ireland, or people who just want to escape the city and rest in the countryside. Thanks again to Annelize and Dewet for welcoming us !

  • Anything less than 5 stars wouldn’t do it justice Sue and Will where amazing hosts and their place was not only stylish but impeccably kept. Sue knew this was a present for valentines and had left loads of lovely valentines extras which was gratefully appreciated. Will had also organised dinner at the Plough that night and Sue even drove us there so we could have a drink. If your looking some where that is that little bit more special with great views and hosts this is the place.

Belfast (16 miles) Dublin (90 miles) It is situated on a farm enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. The cottage is 150 m from Lough Aghery. • This was our third stay at the cottage and we loved it as much as we did before. John and Roberta are smashing hosts. You really cannot go wrong booking this place. It’s beautiful and peaceful.

  • Had a wonderful 11 days at Pike Cottage. The place is clean, cosy and very well equipped. The location is very peaceful but you are only 30 minutes drive from Belfast city and the port and 40 minutes from the International airport. John and Roberta are great host. They live across the lane so are on hand to give help and advice when you need it but are not intrusive in any way. I would happily recommend this place to everyone.

  • We spent a lovely week in Northern Ireland and John and Roberta were excellent hosts. The weather during the week was terrible but the cottage was warm, cosy and welcoming. We had our 9 month old Grandson with us and the house had everything we needed to make us all comfortable. The house was quiet, spotless and very well equipped and the views were amazing. Thanks again.

  • Pike Cottage is in a wonderful idyllic rural setting with spectacular countryside and views. Set beside Lough Aghery, the wildlife is so varied, you'll expect to see everything from Pheasants and to Otters its great for walks across the countryside. The cottage is well equipped, clean, spacious and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the log fire, which John made sure was well stocked. The bedrooms and bathrooms are fantastic. It really has everything you need for a warm relaxing stay. John and Roberta are the perfect hosts. We loved our stay in Pike Cottage and recommend to anyone.

Scion Hill Gate Lodge is 5* accomodation situated at the top of a long tree lined avenue leading to the Gentlemans Residence, Scion Hill. Built in 1840 for George Waugh a JP it served as a Porters Lodge for the main house. It is a listed building. The Gatelodge has a private entrance and parking to one side.
In 2010, Scion Hills Owners, David amd Esther Ervin decided it was time to restore it and offer it as Self Catering Accomodation. They have done this by completely renovating the original building while adding an extensive new wing. This means that although the Gatelodge retains many of its original features, including High Ceilings, it also provides all those Modern Luxuries we have come to expect.
Outsides the views from the front of the Gatelodge are spectacular. There are many local Golf Courses and places to fish. In addition the Gatelodge is handy for all the major shopping towns. There are also many opportunities for Hillwalking on your doorstep including of course the Dromara and Mourne Mountains.
  • We stayed for the weekend with our dogs, as we were attending 2 dog shows nearby. The house is beautifully finished, well equipped and was perfectly located for our requirements. Esther was a superb host, and even left us milk in the fridge for a cuppa when we arrived. The beds were also so comfortable, and the wood burner stove a welcome addition to a chilly evening. I would have no hesitation in recommending the property, and we hope to be back same time next year. Thanks Esther! Simon, Hannah, Margo & Louise x

This Georgian farmhouse and cottage has been lovingly restored and has charm and character. If you want something different, a spacious home in which to relax and enjoy tasteful surroundings, then this is ideal for you. Located close to the A1 which runs between Belfast (25 mins away) and Dublin (75 mins to the airport) and a few miles from the historic village of Hillsborough. Also, the Eikon Exhibition Centre and The Balmoral Show are only 7 miles from here!
This house has been tastefully decorated throughout to a high standard. Those willing to take care of my family home and leave it as they found it are very welcome to come stay and enjoy the surroundings which includes landscaped gardens. There is plenty of room for parking at the front and side of the house.
This is a central location and so a good base for almost anything. Located in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. Within only a few miles from here you can enjoy walking in this stunning area of natural beauty. Some guests travel to Belfast and take bus tours from there, to the Giants Causeway for example - one of the wonders of the world. Well worth a visit. If golfing is your thing, there are many golf clubs within easy distance and a host more within 30 - 45 minutes from here. As a keen golfer I can keep you right on how to ruin a good walk! Plenty of shopping nearby at Sprucefield if that is your thing. There are some lovely restaurants near by - Plough and Hillside in Hillsborough. And Boyles in Dromore. At weekends it would be wise to book. Otherwise there are plenty of places to buy carry out in either village.
  • After an extended 2 week stay, we all highly recommend this home as a place to stay. Beautiful old Post office converted into a fanatically comfortable home - it's obvious that it is very well cared for and it's the family home outside of the summer months. And this is what AirBnb is truly about rather than a sterile stay in an unloved house! This is the opposite - a lot of love has gone into making this a lovely place to stay. With proximity to great restaurants in Hillsborough and to many other places, and even after 2 full weeks here, there was nothing we could suggest to improve our stay. Anne is a fantastic communicator and a pleasure to converse with, and we have no hesitation in giving her place a 5-star review.

  • Gorgeous house and garden. Very stylishly decorated and well appointed.

    Selina2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Anne's home! It was exactly what we were hoping for! A gorgeous farmhouse in the country. We had 4 adults and 5 children staying and it worked great. My daughter got to look out the window every day and say good morning to the sheep in the fields. She loved it. Great for families. The kitchen was large and perfect for us. Lots of space for the kids to play. The back garden was lovely as well, it is on a busy road so we had to keep a close eye on them while they played outside but there was loads of room for them to run so it was excellent. It was very clean and comforting. We would definitely stay again. A wonderful experience!
