Sunset Cottage was built 300 years ago out of Portland Stone and was a fisherman's cottage . Although refurbished to a high standard all original features still remain. Fantastic sea views of Chesil Beach.
Sunset cottage is very cosy with all its original features. Portland stone walls and wooden beams and floors. Wonderful views of Chesil Beach and Jurassic Coast and just a few metres walk from the shingle beach. Cottage is over three floors .
Portland is an island but is connected by a road to Weymouth. The landscape is rugged with beautiful views . Suitable for those who love the outdoors.
  • This is a fabulous place. I stayed here with my 4yo for 5 weeks. Helen is a thoughtful host and the house is well set up for guests. The cottage is beautiful and a pebble-throw from Chesil beach. A historic stone building with cosy rooms and modern heating to keep out the winter chill. The parking can be tricky but the house is on a bus route and local shops were a short walk away. Checking in and out were very simple, a key safe at the door. Helen is friendly host who understands the needs of travellers. I hope to book in here again when we return to the UK. A fantastic little gem - you should stay here!!! 5/5☆

  • Helen House is an awesome place for those who want privacy and silence. The house has everything necessary for living. Fully consistent with the photo. Stunning sea view from the back yard. A store with everything you need is a three minute walk. Free parking 2 minutes from the house. Thanks Helen, it was a wonderful time at your home.

  • Our stay at Helen's cottage was perfect . The cottage had everything we needed in the kitchen and the bedrooms . We had space for our bikes at the back . Breathtaking views from the back garden overlooking the beach and to watch the sunset . It is close to the coast path that takes you around the island by foot . It is also near the stunning Rodwell cycle path that goes to Weymouth and Dorchester. It is a 5 mns drive to most cliffs for rock climbing on the island . Helen was helpful and available for when we needed advice .

  • Helen’s Cove cottage at Fortuneswell on Portland island is a great place to stay. The cottage is well stocked with everything you need and Helen is a very friendly host Portland is a fascinating place to explore and nearby Weymouth has many great pubs and restaurants, and of course a beautiful harbour. All in all a great place from which to explore the Jurassic coast and the beautiful county of Dorset. I wouldbgladly stay at Helen’s again.

  • Lovely little cottage, great hospitality and excellent communication from our very happy host Helen. Wonderful scenic strolls, beach and amenities all within a short walk plus Weymouth easily accessible in only a quick drive. Happy to recommend.

  • Wonderful place.

  • Fantastic; location, views, kitchen, garden, bathroom, bedrooms, lounge, garden, privacy - thoroughly recommend for a long relaxing vacation, it’s like a home from home. It’s as warm as you need, most of the time I need to turn the heat down and this is the middle of winter, even got a wood burner. 5 min from the Sea, some lovely local pubs & cafes. I Love this place. One of the very best Airb&b’s I’ve stayed at -Oops I really shouldn’t have said that, I really meant keep this a secret! Definitely book folks well worth it. Obviously you need to be fit if you haven’t got a car, but why come to Portland if you don’t like hills?! Perfect!!

    Dellimore2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this cottage!!! It is 3 stories: the kitchen and living room are on the ground floor. The kitchen has everything you need for a perfect stay- including a full sized refrigerator. The living room has a large TV and very comfortable couches as well as a fireplace. I kept the backdoor in the kitchen as well as the kitchen window open all day and it kept the downstairs very cool even in the heat of summer. First floor is the bathroom with a shower and a separate full sized bathtub. Also on the first floor is the master bedroom with a VERY comfortable king size bed. Although the cottage has no Air Conditioning and it was Hot outside, by opening the bathroom window and the bedroom window there was an amazing breeze that kept the place cool! 2nd floor is two twin beds and a little play area- which is also good for storage. There is excellent WiFi which reaches the whole cottage. All that said, my favorite part of this cottage is the incredible view from the sitting area out back. It is just amazing- perfect place to watch the sunset every day! And Helen- the owner... is just an amazing woman. She is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions or need anything she is right there for you. She and her husband live in cottages near by and have a garden adjacent to the back sitting area of this cottage. So if you need them... they are there. But they are not intrusive at all. Overall, just an absolutely wonderful stay in a fantastic cottage by the sea. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

Summer is coming but still snuggle up together on the leather sofa with some Prosecco in front of the log fire Dating from the 1700's, our newly restored "boutique" style stone cottage is in the rural historic Yetminster Conservation Area with a thatched CAMRA pub. The Bothy is in the beautiful garden of our quintessential English Heritage listed thatched cottage You have great access to our lovely Dorset countryside & the Jurassic Coast One fixed price: No minimum stays; No cleaning charges
Bothy Cottage is in a delightful rural location with horses in the adjacent fields, chickens across the road and a dairy farm just up the lane. I am so happy just pottering around our home here. We want you to be warm and cosy during the cooler months (& English summer), so the Bothy is heated with electric radiators (controlled by you) and a wood burning stove. We include electricity, kindling wood, fire lighters and logs for your stay. Help yourself to more logs from the store behind the Bothy, if needed. The kitchen facilities are suitable for modest cooking and include a single induction hob, microwave with grill & oven facilities, small fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, filter coffee jug, etc., plus a washing/drying machine. There are two BBQ's suitable for loose charcoal or plonking a disposable BBQ on top. For walkers, Downs Lane opposite leads to various footpaths and access to the local Vecklands Millennium Wood (Visible from your cottage). The Macmillan Way footpath is 200 yards down Brister End. We can chat about various other places to go using your car. In my view, we are in a cyclist's paradise with loads of lanes and a variety of bridleways (Some very muddy) to suit casual through to the serious on and off road bikers (There is a huge specialist triathlon TriUK superstore in Yeovil). You may lock your bikes in one of our sheds. Once you are off in your car then the Jurassic Coast, the sea, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Lyme Regis are some 40-50 minutes away and then there are the National Trust places, including Montecute House, Stourhead (Fabulous landscape gardens with the Spread Eagle pub for food).
Yetminster is a village with a load of listed buildings dating from the 17th Century, about twelve thatched cottages (The locals could not afford proper tiled roofs) and a Grade 1 listed church (St Andrews). The thatched White Hart pub (Run by Blanche & Alex) has a variety of locally sourced beers and ciders (Local labourers were paid with cider until the 1950's) plus good pub grub. I have cycled to over 100 local pubs so I can give you tips on them.
  • This cottage is an absolute treat! Russell and Liz were so helpful and friendly. The air bnb itself is stunning and so cosy - especially when the we had the fire burning in the evening. The location is great, we didn’t have a car but travelled there by train - there’s plenty of big walks or a local taxi service of needed. Perfect 10/10 stay !!

    Molly2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for our stay, shame we weren't staying for longer! It was most definitely cute and cosy and the cottage has a lovely charm about it. We felt very at home and relaxed and were made to feel very welcome upon arrival. Excellent value for the price, we would happily visit again in the future. Thank you again!!

  • What an absolutely stunning little bothy, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The decor is amazing and the real wood log burner makes you feel so cozy. We would highly recommend this place to all our friends and family and cannot wait to return in the summer when the garden is in full bloom. The outside BBQ area will also be amazing in better weather. Thank you!

  • Beautifully clean, extremely cosy, homely and in an ideal location for lovely local walks. Super easy off road parking and a gorgeous wood burning stove and super fast induction job in case you want to cook for yourselves! Russel and Liz even popped a bottle of prosecco and some milk in the fridge for us! Can’t rate it highly enough.

Acton Studio is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path, ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track.
Acton Studio is a recently converted compact purbeck stone outbuilding with double bed, wet room and kitchenette with table and stools. The kitchenette has an electric oven, hob, fridge, sink, kettle, toaster and essential kitchen items. Dorset tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided. The studio is located at the bottom of our rear garden, the studio has it's own private garden. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property. Sit in the enclosed garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night and with no street lights you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around forty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers (25 minutes) and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers (30 minutes). The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties. A couple of minutes in the car and you reach The Scott Arms in Kingston then a little further The Castle Inn and The Greyhound in Corfe Castle. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers ( a twenty five minute walk) but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops (a ten minute drive). We are surrounded by fields, some with cows and sheep and we are located on the South West Coast Path incorporating breath-taking views. We are lucky to live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to many rare plants and animals. The Purbeck coastline is part of the ninety-five mile stretch known as the 'Jurassic Coast', named England’s first natural world heritage site in 2002 because of the unique insight it offers into 185 million years of the Earth’s history.
  • We had a lovely weekend in Acton Studio. It’s in a great location to explore the local area and was very comfy and cosy. Check in was super easy and parking no problem. The little extra touches made the stay extra special.. thanks Ian and Steve!

  • Brilliant location, tucked away in a beautiful old village and really close to great coastal walks. The check in process was really clear, and their suggestion of going to the Square and Compass was spot on - one of the most welcoming and friendly pubs I've been to. We had a magical time here and would highly recommend it! (Also, very comfy and cost bed, which was perfect for a stormy wintry night)

    Brendan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy annex which was really clean and not too far away from nice destinations like Swanage and Corfe Castle. Helpful hosts who live close by - we would definitely come again!

    Freddie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous place to stay with or without a pet. Garden patio is gated if you are taking an escapee dog. The studio is immaculate and well thought out. It is in a semi rural setting which is very quiet but within easy reach of Corfe Castle and Swange. Characterful pubs near by. A very welcoming place 10/10

  • We Stayed in Woodpecker Lodge and have had a fantastic stay. Keith and Serena are lovely hostswith lots of local information. The lodge was perfect....there is a Woodpecker which you can hear and you may be lucky to see the Deer if you wander the pathways. There is an onsite store and a nearby Superstore for all needs. The hot tub sets it all off, it was ready for use when we got there and is great to get in at night with some Bubbly.

    David2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Well what can I say about woodpecker lodge? Absolutely amazing! We wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend to de stress and this log cabin was exactly the perfect place! The cabin was stylish and comfy. The kitchen well equipped for all needs and the log burner was amazing on the cold nights. We loved the hot tub with multi function and lights and even enjoyed it during stormy weather with torrential rain which made it even more special! Keith and his wife were awesome hosts and totally went above and beyond for us when we had a flat tyre! These guys are truly awesome and we will be recommending this place to our friends and family!

    Stuart2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at Woodpecker Lodge! The location is beautiful, private and so peaceful. The hot tub (an absolute favourite) and the wood burner made our stay extra special. Our great hosts responded quickly and couldn’t do enough to help. As a group we would absolutely recommend Woodpecker Lodge and we fully intend on returning for a longer stay in the future! :)

    Jo2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log cabin set among the forest. Best thing about it was sitting in the hot tub with the star spattered sky above you, listening to the sounds of the wild like an owl and its chicks. You don’t get to hear or see much of that in the city! The cabin was spotless, the log burner a cosy touch and the kitchen was well stocked with every utensil, pan etc. you could possibly need. Perfect little break away and I would recommend to anyone!

    Sarah2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker Lodge is perfect! It’s clean and has everything you could possibly need. It’s in a secluded location and therefore you have your privacy. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

    Hannah2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy and romantic cabin with plenty of space. We stayed in woodpecker lodge with a hot tub for three nights. For our first night we only had one neighbour but thankfully the hot tub is mostly covered by a wooden screen - the hot tub next door was the other side of some bushes and we could hear the others but it didn’t disturb us. Access to the hot tub was a little chilly as you can’t go from the cabin door down the steps to it, there’s a wooden ramp before hand but once you’re in the tub it’s lovely. The shop was shut when we went to visit for more drinks or kindling (you get enough for 1 fire) but we sent a message and they opened up quickly for us. We were given detailed maps and some recommendations of where to go and what to see. We did the pooh sticks walk which was about 3 miles in total and had some nice views. The amenities were clean but the crockery and cutlery was all poorly washed so we had to clean things as we used them - that’s most likely the fault of previous occupants though and not necessarily the hosts. All in all a positive experience, it was a relaxing, charming atmosphere and comfortable.

    Shaun2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place. So relaxing and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly with giving tips on what to do locally. I would love to come back again.

  • Woodpecker Lodge is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The lodge is bigger than it looks in the photos, and has absolutely everything you need. The hot tub was lovely and warm, and perfect for relaxing after a long day of walking. The lodge is cosy and very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back again.

  • Wonderful flat with easy access to transportation and nearby grocery, coffee, and cafes. Check-in and check-out were very easy. The flat was very stylish and had many interesting features. It was impeccably clean and the towels were nice and thick just the way we like them. The large bay windows and high ceilings make the flat feel spacious and roomy despite its compact size. Melanie communicated with us prior to our stay, after our arrival, and on our check-out day. She made it clear she was available to assist us even though she was out of town during our stay. She had great restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. We recommend this flat for a lovely stay in Bournemouth!

  • This place is absolutely gorgeous, warm, cosy and comfortable. Every single thing we brought thinking we would need was already provided, hot tub was already on for us, breakfast brought to our door before we left, my partner is first to complain about anything! But he was amazed and said he wants to come back (a first 😂)... we travelled for his 30th which the cabin was decorated for even with a bottle of drink. • Our stay was really lovely. The cabin was cosy and full of thoughtful touches including decorations for my birthday and a bottle of Prosecco! Relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the beautiful views was perfect.

  • This place is magical, we loved our stay here, everything was magical

  • Absolutely loved our stay here. Away from everyone ,nice and peaceful. The hut was warm and the bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed the hot tub . Only thing that could do with improving was the track to the hut.

    Kimberley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway! Literally the coziest, most peaceful and secluded little hut with a perfect sized toasty hot tub tucked away with views into a beautiful woodland. Freezing cold outside, yet we relaxed in the tub surrounded by birdsong and then had a perfectly chilled night in the cosy hut-so warm and really comfy bed! Handy little kitchenette has everything you need for a night and the shower is lovely too! Couldn’t have wished for something more perfect to escape the stresses for a night in nature! Also lovely touches such as birthday balloons and prosecco on arrival-thank you! Breakkie included brought to the door by just eat which was a nice added bonus too. Only thing to be aware of is you might want to leave car at top due to heavy rains making ground very soft...

A truly amazing floating tree house set in a spectacular private location in beautiful Dorset countryside. Tastefully decorated with everything you need for a cosy, romantic break. Mains power, heating, stereo, hot and cold water, outdoor toilet and showers. A basic kitchen with a double hob, and everything you need, a fire-pit, BBQ and a bed with far reaching views. Simply an incredible and unique space for a romantic getaway. You will need to bring bedding, towels, and charcoal.
Built in the trees on top of a bank with a great view. Peaceful, purposefully basic, but has everything you actually need, to have a cosy romantic time. We have uninstalled wifi so you can actually enjoy talking to each other and listening to music on the sound system, being in nature and de-stressing. Feel free to walk around the site and see deer and great woodland to enjoy. You are only 2 minutes drive away from shops and great pubs if you need anything. Please be aware the toilet is situated just outside of the Treehouse.
Beautiful, sunny Bournemouth is only a 20-minute drive away, Poole is only 10 minutes. There are plentiful walks and country pubs nearby to choose from, and we’re only 20 minutes from the scenic Jurassic coast. Monkey World is only 20 minutes away, which is a MUST! Our unique field is a great base that's within easy reach of numerous things to see and do.
  • Great stay! Was surprised to see other kinds of accommodation! Will definitely be back to try out something else! The double decker bus looks amazing! The only bad thing I can say is that the weather wasn’t great but we had everything we needed inside so didn’t dampen things to much!

  • Amazing stay! Me and my girlfriend came for her surprise birthday. The tree house just looks incredible as you park the car. And it is just like a Tardis. 'Bigger on the inside' with a working sink, fridge, working radio and heaters it was a cozy night in when the rain was pouring outside. There are plenty of board games to keep you busy and even chairs and tables outside. The site also has toilets and showers! Would recommend to anyone wanting a unique stay or a weekend away.

    Dean2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this place for a lovely romantic getaway! The structure is really cool and surprisingly spacious, the pictures dont do it justice! Everything you could need for a night and the space was really cosy. I was worried it would be cold as we went in January but there is a heater which does a great job at warming the space up. The space is nice and private and there are board games to keep you occupied! Perfect to just switch off. Would deffo reccomend!

Please see below for Covid-19 measures Self-contained shepherds hut in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The perfect glamping experience for lovers of the outdoors who prefer some warm home comforts. Fully insulated and heated. South facing with stunning views, surrounded by wildlife and the New Forest on the doorstep. Self Check in. Great pub, award winning farm shop and 2 cafes all walkable. Quick and easy access to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches nearby.
    * In light of the Covid 19 health emergency, I’d like to reassure my guests that I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I clean and disinfect all surfaces, the bathroom and kitchen including the cupboard handles, window furniture, door handles, light switches, soap dispenser, washing up liquid bottle, tv remote control, the door key, etc. The bedding and towels are washed at 60 degrees and for now I have removed the scatter cushions and blanket on the bed unless I can wash and dry them ready for my next guests. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else if you don’t wish to. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! It’s self check in so you don’t even have to have any contact with me! I have also set our booking calendar to allow for the hut to be empty for 24 hours between guests rather than guests leaving and arriving on the same day. *Length of stay discounts automatically apply to stays of 3 nights or more and increases the more nights that are booked with 15% off weekly bookings (7 nights). * Late booking discounts. *No extra cleaning fee charged. Situated on the north/west side of the New Forest National Park, a very short drive from the historic market towns of Fordingbridge and Ringwood, ‘Maurietty’ offers an idyllic place to relax and unwind. Located away from roads and a short way along a forest track, it is set on the edge of our 3 ½ acre grounds approximately 100 metres from our house (which is out of view). Stunning south facing views across our paddocks and countryside beyond. However you are not isolated here - there is quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer (if you can tear yourself away from your little retreat!). There is a footpath at the back of our house which goes along the edge of our paddocks which is the best route to take to Hockeys Farm Shop and cafe, and The Royal Oak Pub is a 20 minute walk away (left out of our gates to bottom of track and turn right). There is another café 'The Potting Shed' in Hyde which is approx. a 15/20 minute walk across the common (left out of our gates, up track a short way and take first right at 'Gorley Firs' which will take you up onto the common). This shepherd's hut offers character and comfort in spades. The little bijou beauty is like a tardis offering a warm and cosy retreat. Inside the fully insulated bespoke hut you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. A bathroom with 800x800 shower, wc, wash basin and electric ladder radiator. A kitchenette with belfast sink, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, electric cooking/frying pan, small chiller fridge, all cutlery and crockery and electric radiator. The 4'6" double bed is built in across one end of the hut with storage underneath, a window and tv with built in freesat and dvd player for those british rainy days when you might want to tuck up and get cosy and watch a film. South facing double french doors flood the hut with sunshine on brighter days and provide a beautiful view out across open fields. Outside there is a designated parking space right next to the hut and an outdoor seating area looking out at the view. Access to the property is via an electric gated entrance for which you will be provided with a code. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the hut is the open New Forest. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Award- winning farm shop and cafe that also offers bike hire 0.5 mile (follow the footpath that starts at the back corner of our property), horse riding 1 mile, watersports and fishing lakes 2 miles, thatched pub with restaurant 1 mile (15/20 minute walk). Ringwood (with a Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsbury's) 5 miles and Fordingbridge (with a Co-op and Tesco Express) 2.5 miles. ****If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please send me a booking request and I will try to accommodate you. ****Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs in the hut. ****Please have a look through the ‘house rules’ and it’s important you follow my directions to find us easily. ****Please note that WiFi can be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed! It’s something we’ve learnt to live with. We can always pick up 3G or 4G.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England.

    Alison2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin is a lovely place to stop - perfect for a pair or solo traveller looking for an indoor place to rest. Situated at the end of a garden, it is a secluded spot that is a restful way to spend an evening. Humphrey was very accommodating - made sure I could get in, had turned the heating on, set the heated blanket (!) up to come on in the evening, provided tea, coffee, breakfast and fruit. Bed was very comfy, shower was decent, and enough space to feel cosy while still having enough space to move around. Kitchen was well equipped. The local pub was just down the road and served up good food. Highly recommend if passing through Seatown.

Humphrey’s cabin was quaint with everything that we needed for our stay. I was also thrilled to expose my 5 year old to her first ever exterior bathroom, very true to glamping. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back one day soon!

The Barn is a delightful studio apartment, situated next to our family home in the quaint village of Burley, New Forest. Recently refurbished, the barn features an open plan living, kitchen and sleeping area with its own private entrance and small outside space with eating area and space for a BBQ. It is a truly fantastic base for you to enjoy what the national park has to offer; including walking, bike riding, horse riding, or exploring the beaches of the south coast.
Inside, the barn features a full kitchen which includes an oven, hob, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. A choice of eating areas either at the breakfast bar or at the dining area table. There is a comfortable sitting area with Smart TV, wireless internet and whole range of DVD’s, books, board games - something for every one to enjoy. Our guests can enjoy a cosy reading corner with high back chair and a overhead lamp. There is also a self-contained shower room which features a sink, toilet and freestanding shower.
The Barn is surrounded by woodland, and just 100 meters from open new forest heathland, with spectacular views reaching towards the Purbecks. This is an amazing spot for a picnic glass of wine or a beer and watch one of the best sunset views in the new forest over the moor. We have picnic blankets and hamper for our guests to enjoy as they wish. We regularly have deer and horses outside the gates grazing which our guests love to see. The village is a 15 min walk through the woods in both directions which loop around to make a really nice distance stroll, with a pub or cafe break in the middle. The village has a couple of country pubs perfect for a nice meal and drink, and a selection of quirky shops. Just 3 miles down the road is the Market Town of Ringwood with a range shops and supermarkets.
  • A perfect little countryside retreat. So many good reviews and it lives up to them all and more. Looks great in the pictures but blows you away when you arrive!

  • The Barn is a truly delightful and cozy place to stay for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The perfect place to unwind and relax...

    Sabine2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Barn had a comfortable rustic vibe and was situated nicely into the new forest area. Would consider staying again.

    Martyn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We have been looking for a nice airbnb within walking distance of both countryside and pubs, without traffic noise and close to a list of interesting things to do, and Emily's place delivers on all of these 100%. Clean, wholesome, cosy, quiet, with everything you might need for a few days in the New Forest. The wifi was great and the bed and sofa comfortable, the kitchen worked really well and the space is bigger than it looks in the photos. Having a smart TV was an added bonus for darker spring evenings. The view pictured is less than a minute's walk through trees opposite, and is absolutely stunning. There are also hiking and cycling trails accessible directly from the property. Situated about a mile down a track, you are right in the woodland, but with very quick access to the village of Burley. Emily and her family were on hand and incredibly friendly and helpful, but the space also felt private and an independent unit. With the heathland, the forest, the coast, some interesting cities and the Isle of Wight all within an easy drive, we wished we have been there for a week rather than a couple of nights and hope to be back as soon as possible.

    Jess2020-02-18T00:00:00Z

    Belinda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a 2 night stay at the Bothy to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place was perfect for our short break. The weather wasn't great (wet and windy) but the cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming. We already had a wood turning experience booked locally so had planned for the winter weather, but in the better weather you'd be spoilt for things to do locally. We ate out at The Red Lion, within walking distance one night. Fab food and would also highly recommend. Loved the welcoming touches of bread, milk, orange juice, croissants and the infamous chocolate muffins.

The place itself was sparkling clean and there were some lovely touches, thank you for the bath salts and muffins! The hot tub is also excellent and very private. We will definitely book again and recommend to others.

  • Exactly what we wanted. The place was lovely, snug with the fire on and the jacuzzi was great. Perfect for walks that seem to lead to pubs!

Sandford Lodge is situated on the edge of the New Forest. Perfect for bike riding, walking and horse riding. There are many country pubs nearby, Bournemouth beach is a 20 minute drive. Mudeford beach is a 15 minute drive where crabbing is popular! Nearby is the New Forest wildlife park and just down the road is Liberty’s Owl Raptor and reptile centre. Burley is only a 10 minute drive away too where there’s lots to see and do!
Sandford Lodge is a handcrafted log cabin made by us! Downstairs is the living area, with a lounge, wood burner and kitchen area. The bathroom is situated off the lounge. Upstairs is the cosy bedroom. Outside there is a lovely veranda where you can relax in the evening in one of the rocking chairs. Out the back of the cabin, there is a garden area where the hot tub is.

  • Beautiful tiny house in a very nice and convenient location for visiting New Forest and surrounding areas. Sophie is a very nice, responsive and helpful host. We hope to visit again in the future!

  • Idyllic, cosy retreat in the new forest. A perfect hideaway with log burner and lay-z-spa, and wonderfully comfortable bed. Sophie was responsive and the ideal host. A lovely minibreak.

    Kaffs2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very adorable little cabin. Can get a little cold but plenty of blankets are available, a little fire (which was lit for us as we arrived) and a heated blanket in the bed, meant this wasn’t an issue. Beautiful scenery and not too far from nearest town.

    Andrew2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log cabin , lovely and warm with the log fire . The hot tub is a fab location with lovely views over fields and sheltered from the winds . Remember a dressing gown in colder weather to get from cabin to tub . Highly recommend. Thanks Sophie

  • Fantastic little cabin with all that you need to get away from everything, the weather was bad but with the stove glowing away and playing a few card games it was all very magical! Both evenings we were in the hot tub and sat drinking wine and watching the storm 🥰

Honeysuckle Lodge is a unique blend of luxury mixed with the classic beach/shepherds hut design. It combines spa like experiences such as drenching shower and a hot tub surrounded by living walls; with home from home comforts such as cosy duvets, soft pillows and HD TV with Amazon Fire stick. Located on the site of an 18th Century Grade II listed building, in a small village with a fantastic local pub and village shop. Guests self check-in and out.
The lodge although small boasts a brand new en-suit with drenching rain shower head, stone sink and exposed copper piping. There is a double bed with cosy bedding, tea making facilities, Nespresso coffee machine and light continental breakfast. The Lodge also has use of a hot tub located just outside the lodge, surrounded by a living wall which gives privacy and a unique jungle feel. The Lodge is built in the grounds of our circa 18th Century Grade II Listed Thatched house which is located next to the A354 - this does mean that you will hear cars and often farm machinery passing during the day and sometimes at night.
The Royal Oak pub is the best local you could ask for. Serving fantastic food and drink and run by very friendly people. There is also a village shop too. All of which is within 2-3 minutes walk.
  • We had a lovely stay here, it looks exactly as it does in the pictures! The location is perfect with so much to do just 20 minutes away in any direction! The hot tub was lovely after a day of exploring and the bed was super comfy. The extra bits (breakfast, orange juice and a bottle of wine) are super thoughtful. The Royal Oak does lovely food and everyone should 100% visit. We had a great time here, our only niggle was that it took ages for our towels and swimwear to dry, but apart from that we would stay again.

  • Incredible little lodge, perfect for a relaxing couples’ break. Built by the hosts, it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the experience of their guests. If you’re happy to drive for 20 minutes in any direction then there are endless options for day trips. The local pub was a great recommendation and just a short walk from the accommodation. To all future guests - kick back and enjoy!

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little Airbnb! The decor is so cosy and Jeremy and Chloe have done a wonderful job creating this little oasis. The hot tub is a thankful retreat after a long walk in the rain. Milborne is a delightful town, free from masses of tourists, and full of history and poetic scenery. Highly recommend visiting nearby Milton Abbey and Durdle Door. One note- there isn’t really a place to eat inside the bnb, but if you aren’t opposed to bed snacks then you’ll have a grand time!

    Lillith2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much! Jeremy was the perfect host and we couldn’t have asked for a better night away. The lodge is amazing, so well equipped and the decor is modern and stylish, with lovely little touches everywhere! We really appreciated the wine, milk and orange juice in the fridge too. If you’re staying on a Sunday be sure to try the fantastic carvery at The Royal Oak pub just a stones throw away from the lodge. Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back 5*

Lovely self contained annexe set in the beautiful surroundings of the Jurassic coast. There is a cosy double bedroom (which has the option of either a king size or two single beds) a shower room and a well equipped kitchen/dining/living room which has a sofa bed. The property has its own pretty courtyard garden and off road parking for one car.
self contained annexe with easy access to Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic Coast AONB
West Lulworth and its associated Lulworth Cove is a pretty little village with many thatched properties. It does not have street lighting so the night sky can be very spectacular. There are two pubs both of which serve food, a very nice restaurant within easy walking distance of the property (a little expensive but lovely menu) and a bistro nearer to the sea which additionally does take away pizzas . There is also a number of further cafes including Finlays who serve good fish and chips and very delicious Dorset ice cream. (Please note that not everything is open during the winter)
  • Very comfortable annexe in great location. Thoughtfully equipped. Quiet situation but just above the attractive village, (which can be reached down steps just to the right of the property). The thatched roof Castle Inn is a couple of minutes walk, and there is a good restaurant (the Limestone) a few minutes walk away - we had good meals in both. Beautiful countryside around, and about 10 minutes walk to Lulworth Cove.

  • We stayed at Lisa's air bnb for a weekend work trip along with our toddler and two dogs. It is a converted building in the garden of her thatched cottage. The village is very sweet and the air bnb was perfect for our stay. Lisa's little touches were so thoughtful and made our stay even better. Lisa provided a travel cot and the room was very comfy. We ate in the local pub (white horse) on the Friday evening - they were very helpful and accommodating and the food was great. We visited RSPB Arne for work and the tank museum at Bovington - both were great visitor experiences and would highly recommend.

  • Vanessa is offering just fantastic accommodation in a very interesting area. The accommodation is spacious and everything is well thought out(Vanessa has a great eye for detail). I can’t recommend The Potting Shed highly enough.

  • This was an incredibly wonderful stay. The potting shed has been carefully built to specification taking every small detail into consideration. It is clean, cosy and private. the bed is immensely comfortable, the shower is one of the best we’ve used on any trip and the kitchen is perfectly stocked for making all meals necessary. The eggs Vanessa left were a nice touch and we enjoyed watching films by the fire ( which she had laid ready for our arrival) and playing board games whilst the Bluetooth speaker played out tune!would be our only choice if we stay in the area again.

    Johnny2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa is the best host we have ever stayed with. The stylist touches and the thoughtful extras always make the difference. We will definitely be staying again and are already looking forward to a summer stay. Thank you again for such a lovely stay

  • This was our second stay at The Potting Shed, and, (hopefully), not our last. It is so beautiful, so quiet and tranquil. If I'd been any more relaxed I'd have been in a coma! Vanessa is very thoughtful; providing lots of extra touches like fresh eggs, cotton buds and tin foil. We love it so much that I don't even bother looking at anywhere else on Airbnb now, just go straight to The Potting Shed. I don't believe there could be any place better in the UK

    Melanie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accomodation which was perfect for us and our 2 well behaved cocker spaniels. The enclosed courtyard was perfect as well as access to the secure field across the road for a little run around (They never get tired even after hours worth of walking through Somerset!) Vanessa lives on site and came to say hello when we arrived even though it was later at night than planned. She was always easily contactable if needed. The Potting Shed is in a beautiful location and enabled us to explore some lovely areas We would definitely love to come back!

    Millie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Potting Shed was absolutely perfect. It's a beautiful barn conversion with everything you could need. The Garden Room is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path and ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track. We are close to Corfe Castle and attractions in the Isle of Purbeck.
The Garden Room is a self contained, cosy double room overlooking the beautiful garden. The room is located in the rear garden of our house. The room has it's own seating area. There is a brand new double bed, breakfast table, separate wash basin and very compact wet room which is a combined toilet and shower space. Unfortunately not suitable for less abled people. Enjoy a continental style breakfast in the mornings; there is a kettle with tea and coffee, a toaster and small fridge supplied with milk, butter and preserves. There is Dorset Cereal, Kelloggs cereal and wholemeal bread for toasting. Gluten free diet can be catered for, please just let us know. Tap water is fron a mains supply so perfect for drinking. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property and via unmade roads, not suitable for less abled people There is Wifi which can be very patchy at times and can drop out so please don't rely on it if you need it, very sorry but that's all we can do for the moment. Sit in the garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night, as there is no light pollution, you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around fifty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers. The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties but is a fantastic experience. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops.
  • We loved our stay in Ian and Steve’s garden room. Lovely decor and styling. Very clean. Just the facilities we needed during a weekend of hiking. The breakfast items were a lovely touch as not much around. Easy check in instructions with photos. We couldn’t connect to the WiFi at all on either phone which wasn’t a big issue as was out for dinner at the local pub anyway and just watched TV when we got back. I loved the information booklet and we actually did one of the walks recommended in there the next day which was off the beaten track & had stunning views so enjoyed that. Thanks both :)

  • Ian and Steve have created a very cosy garden room. The room is stylish and in a great location to walk to the dancing ledge. The little touches such as the shampoo and condition and the butter and milk made this place amazing value for money. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

  • We had a great time in Ian and Steve's Garden Room. The room was extremely beautiful and perfect for people who just want to relax and enjoy their free time. The bed is very comfortable, everything is clean, you have everything you need, even some breakfast and Ian and Steve are great hosts who reply quickly to your messages and provide you with lots of information about the region. We can definetly recommend others to book here!

  • I’ve been using airbnb since 2014, and this was by far my best experience. The space is cozy, tranquil, and the garden is beautiful. It was very clean and thoughtfully decorated, with surprisingly great amenities considering the space. My boyfriend and I stayed just one night (we wish we could have stayed longer), and felt very comfortable. Ian was so kind and gave excellent local recommendations. It is also walking distance to amazing sites including dinosaur footprints and coastal hikes. I hope to return someday soon as the area has so much to offer!

    Dina2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Snug and cosy room and perfect for us for an overnight stay.

    Anna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was cozy and lovely! Very well decorated. The bed is heated!

    Luis2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I would thoroughly recommend. Ian and Steve have created a calm and tasteful space which was warm and welcoming to come back to after some very cold and windy walks. All directions and instructions were clear and easy to follow. A range of nice quality breakfast goods provided. I only met Ian, who was charming, friendly and helpful, but I had a sense of complete privacy throughout my stay. I would definitely come back!

    Kristiina2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Steve's place is in the must idyllic part of Dorset - right in the heart of rural Purbeck. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and cliff walks, the garden room is a perfect cosy nest to come home to after a long day exploring the local area.

  • Exactly as described and perfect for what I needed (to be near the ferry port). Lizz was really flexible and accomodating of my late arrival time. A perfect little bolt hole!

  • A lovely space with everything you need, breakfast was included which was a really nice touch! Liz is really nice and welcoming and I would stay again.

    Jade2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful fully self contained unit with living and eating and food preparing space - it’s like your own personal apartment and it is stunning. The extra touches Lizz supplies are so thoughtful. The welcome was amazing, and Lizz’s helpfulness. I can’t wait to return and stay for longer. Huge bonus is on drive parking, and being able to leave car behind and walk into Poole (20 min flat walk). It’s a lovely place and a lovely area to visit. I’d not hesitate in giving Lizz and her Airbnb a 100% positive review.

A new log cabin built autumn 2015 in its own grounds and completely private, overlooking heathland where horses and cattle roam freely 6 months of the year. It's next to farmland with a fishing lake nearby. Great for walks and enjoying the outdoors. Renting the log cabin is based on two guests sharing, any additional guest pays a complimentary fee.
The log cabin is spacious, cosy and comfortable. The sofa in the lounge also converts to a double bed , so up to 6 people can to stay. The cabin sits in an exclusive paddock of one acre surrounded by field, woods and heathland. It is a haven for wildlife. Guests can enjoy the grounds where there is a trampoline, swings and can also enjoy cooking and eating outdoors. There is also a coarse fishing lake in the adjacent farm.
It's location makes the cabin very unique. Its a rural retreat. No neighbours (except the cows, horses, deer and squirrels!) Great for wild life and being close to nature. Completely secluded with a beautiful view of the grounds. A great escape from the city! The Cross Keys pub, which is within walking distance, offers good food. There is also a good selection of country pubs nearby. There are excellent restaurants, pubs in the towns previously mentioned, as well as theatres and nightlife. We have wonderful beaches in Bournemouth and Poole. Close by, we have Potterns Park in Verwood and Moors Valley Country Park. Great for outdoor activities with the family and friends.
  • The cabin is perfect for some time out of the big smoke! I stayed there with 5 friends and we had a lovely time . The cabin is clean , outside areas spacious , lots of parking and space to run around! The cabin itself is perfect for short stays and well equipped ( kitchen stocked and lots of activities for a rainy day) . Perfect welcome by the hosts and flexibility with check out 😊

Atherstone Farm Cottage is a beautiful and newly refurbished grade II listed thatched cottage in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone in Somerset, two miles from Ilminster. Its rural location and carefully restored interiors make it a great countryside bolt-hole. Both bedrooms are ensuite, one with a roll top bath and shower, the other a walk-in wetroom / shower. The house also has a modern kitchen, with a separate utility room, and a large stone-floored living and dining room with a wood-burning stove.
With a stone floor, ancient beams and thatched roof it's the picture of a romantic country cottage, but now updated with a modern kitchen, bathrooms and entertainment system. Its rural location makes it a great escape for those looking for a countryside bolt-hole, with plenty of pubs to walk / cycle to and things to see and do nearby, and convenient shopping in Ilminster is not far away. There are two comfortable bedrooms, both en-suites., with deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and fluffy bathrobes, so you can truly settle into the cosiness of the cottage. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The second bedroom can be arranged as a superking-sized double or with two single beds. Its bathroom is a walk-in modern wetroom with heated stone tile floors. The house has a large living area for four people, with a long dining / sitting room. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace and is equipped with a 55’ flatscreen internet-connected TV with a Bluetooth soundbar that can be used to play music / radio through the TV or from a Bluetooth device, or just envelop those who want to relax with a movie. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a large fridge-freezer (including ice-machine) and a washer-drier. There is also good-sized private lawn, a charcoal bbq and teak outdoor table and chairs for the summer (or the hardy!)
Atherstone Farm Cottage is part of an old grade II listed farm that has been part of the Dillington Estate since at least 1725. The cottage is found at one end of the farmhouse - with the other half of the house also available to rent as a separate 4 bed house. The two are joined through lockable doors on the ground floor for the convenience of any groups renting both. The farm is in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone, which is surrounded by fields and woods that are accessible on foot and bicycle through the myriad of local country lanes and footpaths. Nearby there are several pubs, some within walking distance – like the Barrington Boar – others a little further, but worth cycling or driving to, such as the Dinnington Docks or Lord Poulett Arms. Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else. There are several local cider producers whose orchards and presses are worth seeing, Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake being one, and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill another. A little further away the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are 40mins or so to the South, and the Hauser and Wirth gallery near Bruton is 40 mins or so to the East.
  • Lovely cottage in one of the prettiest areas we’ve visited in the UK. The house itself is immaculate, spacious, and charming. Really appreciated the heaps of firewood for cozy evenings around the living room as well as private garden for breakfast in the sunshine. Great local suggestions as well, we had an excellent lunch at the Lord Poullet Arms nearby.

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning property and it’s one of the cleanest I’ve stayed at, everything is perfect. There’s a fantastic log burner and a big basket of logs for you to burn. The decor is wonderful, everything is really tastefully done. Loved the bath robes and the toiletries that were provided. The Barrington Boar is a very short drive and it’s a really great pub. We went to the Lord Poulet too which was great. Make sure you go to Pips Railway Cafe because their breakfast is to die for and it’s kind of quirky eating in a railway carriage! I would not hesitate to recommend this house and only wish I could move in!

  • Brilliant quiet location with a lovely countryside feel

    Charlotte2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Cottage was amazing, quiet, clean and beautiful. We felt at home from the minute we walked through the door and had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend stay. We particularly loved the log burner, the authentic stone floors, the original wooden doors, coupled with the modern luxurious decor. We can’t wait to come back for longer next time!

    David2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, decorated to a high standard. In a lovely rural location. Extremely peaceful and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special countryside getaway.

    Guy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful property, comfortable & quiet. Wifi strength is variable. Common area is marvelous with fireplace to keep you warm. Beds are truly comfortable & firm. Location close to delights of Ilminster and supermarket convenience.

    Lesley2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Farm Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Set in the middle of nowhere down some narrow lanes, you really felt away from it all. Facilities were great, despite the farmhouse being rather old! The low beams won 4-2 in terms of days when I hit my head, but that just added to the charm. Check-in was easy (via a key safe), and they texted to say that we were able to check in early, which was a nice touch. Nearby pubs and restaurants were very nice, with particular mention of the Lord Poulett Arms and Pip’s Railway Cafe. (Don’t trek all the way to The Pig, though. We were disappointed). All in all we had a really good time and can recommend the cottage highly.

    Karl2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to holiday and the facilities inside the cottage were ideal. There are a lovely range of walks and places to visit nearby and some of the local pubs provided some excellent foods as well as being dog friendly. The two ensuites are perfect when two couples are sharing the Cottage. The Dillington Estates were good at providing information and responses to questions regarding our stay.

Although recently built, this building actually seems older than the farmhouse it's next to. With oak beamed roof trusses and stone walls inside and out there is a sense of permanence about this place. Shortlake Cottage is located just off a quiet no-through-road and looks out over fields to the coast beyond. As well as the views, the SW Coastpath is nearby for walks into Weymouth (3m) and Lulworth Cove (7m). Osmington village with The Sly Fox pub, and a couple of small shops, is about a 5 minutes walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 10 minutes or so across the fields.

  • Shortlake Cottage was absolutely delightful, simply and stylish with lovely features and gorgeous views from the upstairs family room. We stayed here with our 3 year old and 3 month old and had everything we needed to feel happy and at home for a few days. We walked down to the beach which was about 20 minutes (maybe a bit more coming back up!) The beach was deserted except for us and really gorgeous. The cottage is ideally located for sights such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, etc as well as towns Weymouth and Dorchester being easy drives away. Peter was easy to get in touch with and very helpful on the couple of occasions we needed him too, I would recommend both the cottage and Peter himself as a host. We ate in most nights in the well equipped kitchen but enjoyed a fantastic meal at the nearby Smugglers Inn on our last night which we would recommend also. ****** LOVED IT! 😊

    Alice2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don't do the space and location justice - in a great way! Plenty of room and so close to the bay. The view from the upstairs is brilliant and you can see the bay and over to Portland. We stayed as a couple with our dog, but if you are with another couple then the space and layout would be ideal, ensuring you have privacy as well as a great place to enjoy. Location is excellent for Weymouth, we also went to Swanage whilst there. Would strongly recommend Peters cottage if you are looking for a base to explore the area.

  • A little piece of perfection in a beautiful part of the world. Check-in was seamless. The interior is beautiful and very spacious. Loved the bathroom! The cleanliness is exceptional! The underfloor heating is very effective and the view from upstairs is breathtaking. The location is perfect - you feel like you are in the middle of the country far away from the hustle and bustle but you still have the convenience of Weymouth close by. I can't recommend Peters place enough!

Watch for wildlife like deer and pheasants from the garden, while among the visual treats inside are floral accents, both artistic and natural. Original features include exposed beams, 250-year-old floors, and horse tie-up points in the walls.
Located on the grounds of Downwood Vineyard this idillic place will take your breath away. Take a walk to the nearby woods, watch stars at night and hear nothing but the wind in the trees and chirping birds in the country. Sightings of rabbits, deers and pheasants also are very possible. That’s what makes this place so unique and special

  • What a fantastic place. I am so happy I chose to stay here, it was perfect for my get away with my dog. They had layed out dog bowl and bed which was brilliant. The property was stunning, spotless and eveything I wished for. The location was great, right near a tesco which was handy. It was super peaceful and you didn't feel disturbed at all, I felt right at home. The breakfast each morning was an amazing touch and really rounded off my stay. Hopefully I'll be back!

  • Love this little stable, it was cute and full of character. The host had set out some balloons and decor for valentines which was adorable! Only small downfall was that we could not access the WiFi, however who needs WiFi when you're on a romantic break!

    Steven2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the stable for my birthday. When we checked in the property was decorated with banners and balloons and they even left a bottle of Prosecco for us! We unfortunately couldn’t have the breakfast as my partner is a coeliac however the hosts had left us lots of information on gluten free eateries in the area which we though was very thoughtful. Overall a fantastic stay and just right for a few nights away from it all. We will be back!

  • We had a lovely time at the Stable Barn despite the horrendous weather (Storm Dennis!). It’s the best Airbnb we have stayed at so far - thoughtfully designed and very well equipped, it is also in an excellent location for the many attractions this part of Dorset has to offer. Gail is a warm and welcoming host, always at hand if needed and with some great tips for places to visit and eat. We definitely hope to return.

  • The Stable Barn is absolutely beautiful and Gail is a superb host. The Barn is equipped with everything you need for your stay and all equiment and furniture are top quality (sorry about the two broken wine glasses!). We had a powercut on our first day (Storm Ciara), only for half an hour but Gail came round with some delicious home made stew just in case we were not able to cook anything. It was much appreciated and saved us from having to go out. We had a fantastic week and despite the weather we were out every day visiting places like Lulworth Cove (6 mile walk along the coastal path through Durdle Door and Scratchy Bottom!! and return), West Bay (brilliant food at the Watch House Cafe on the front, Keralan Fish Curry and Crab Linguine is a must!!) and Max Gate, the house of Thomas Hardy ( what a dark horse!!). All great places and we always looked forward to returning to The Stable Barn at the end of each day, ready to cosy in and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Thanks for a brilliant week Gail, your barn is beautiful.

  • A lovely comfortable place to stay, beautifully equipped and tastefully finished. Gail is a welcoming and helpful host.

  • House was really lovely, everything you could need and comfortable, heating was great, kitchen fully equipped. Upstairs shower was a little hard to control the temperature and occasionally got super hot but if you start a little cooler than you want, it gets slightly warmer after a minute or so. I'm 6"2 and the shower hose was just about high enough so just a warning for taller people might have to duck a little. Overall, it was a great holiday, great value and Gail was a great host :)

  • An ideal location for a perfect getaway with incredible views and beautiful walks. The dogs enjoyed it as much as we did! The hot tub overlooking the bay was definitely a highlight. Despite a few minor issues with the accommodation we had the most wonderful relaxing stay. The fireplace was perfect for the rainy nights and it was a very thoughtful touch to provide enough wood for our two-night stay. We would definitely return and would recommend a stay in this lovely place.

  • This Old Lookout is a very special place. We only stayed one night but Peter still put the spa on for us. And the star-gazing was amazing!

  • Louise was excellent and keeping in touch and replying immediately. I got this stay as a Christmas present for my parents and they had a lovely time. They went for days out at Lyme Regis and Seaton. They took their dogs and were very happy with the stay.
