Welcome to Castle Mews, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Castle Mews is a hidden gem of a cottage, at the end of a short row of cottages tucked away down a gated passageway, right in the heart of the lovely market town of Cirencester. In Roman times Cirencester was known as “Corinium”, when it was the second largest town in Britain, a history that is celebrated in its local museum. Nowadays, Cirencester is the largest town in the Cotswolds, enabling it to support a wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops, all housed in beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings. The town is surrounded by stunning countryside and beautiful Cotswold villages, as well as being an ideal base for visiting further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford or even a day trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Castle Mews is very peacefully located, down a gated passageway off Castle street, a beautiful street in the heart of Cirencester. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden at the front of the cottage, which leads to the front door. The door opens into the open plan ground floor: Living/dining area: The relaxing living and dining space contains a comfy sofa, an armchair and a wooden dining table, with seating for two. Discretely hidden away in a wooden cabinet is a small SMART TV and DVD player; Kitchen area: The lovely kitchen area is very well laid out and contains a two ring induction hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washing machine/tumble dryer. Stairs lead up from the living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with oak beams and a ledge and brace door, which contains a king size bed; Dressing room: A nice additional space, which contains a sofa, a dressing table and a free standing towel rail; Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Returning downstairs, a stable door leads out from the kitchen area to a small, enclosed courtyard garden at the back of the cottage, which contains a table and two seats. The garden area at the front of the cottage is larger and is a beautiful place to sit outside and relax, containing two comfy chairs and a small table.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade".

  • This cottage is incredibly beautiful and cosy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again!

  • What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage. We enjoyed the proximity toTetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel !Thankyou!

  • We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat. It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hoar frosts on the 2 days we were there.

  • Pear Tree Cottage gives you everything you need for a perfect Cotswolds stay. For our winter stay it was cosy & utterly charming. A really delightful place.

    Lindsay2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic cottage in a lovely little village. We were welcomed at the cottage by Kevin who showed us around and let us know he was available should we need any help at all. There is a lovely log burning fire with enough wood supplied to use for one night, we bought more wood from a supermarket ten minutes drive away.

    Georgina2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful little cottage in the cotswolds. Perfect location for exploring the rest of the area. Lovely clean and cosy cottage with a wonderful fire for the evenings. Would highly recommend

  • A fantastic home away from home in a quiet village just outside Tetbury. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped - we couldn’t have asked for any more. We will definitely return for more cosy nights in front of the fire!

Situated in a small Hamlet in the Cotswolds, the property is set in quiet and peaceful surroundings. There are two pubs locally both within easy walking distance, selling excellent food in a friendly atmosphere. Your Host is at hand to give local knowledge of the area and information is available in the guest sitting room.
A recently refurbished single room with shared bathroom. You have access to a guests Sitting room with TV and wifi . You are welcome to make use of the garden where deer are frequent visitors along with the neighbours chicken ( called Martha) and a host of other wildlife.
A 10 minute drive will take you to the most delightful coffee shop 'Lavender Bake' Chalford, the food is outstandingly good. within half an hour you can reach Tetbury the home town of Prince Charles. 10 minutes you are in Minchinhampton with its beautiful common and the famous Winstones ice cream Parlour . 20 minutes to the old Roman town of Cirencester with its beautiful church an interesting shops and restaurants.
  • Jane is delightful, a lovely fun lady, and I really enjoyed her company. Her home is beautiful, tastefully decorated to a high standard, in a quiet hamlet location with beautiful Cotswold stone homes. I didn't use the guest lounge but it was lovely and a wonderful amenity for anyone staying more than one night. My satnav took me a very convoluted way but I soon realised that the hamlet is close to a larger village with friendly pubs offering food. I would love to return in summer to explore properly. My only very minor complaint is that the ad could make it clearer that the hosts are in fact a couple, as I (and many other single female travellers) tend to feel more comfortable with female hosts as a first preference. Highly recomnended.

    Ruth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Tony have a lovely home and certainly made me most welcome. Whilst the downstairs guest lounge looked awfully inviting I opted for an early night. The bedroom’s decor is beautiful in the duck egg blue and white. Along with the thoughtful little touches everywhere, it’s a gorgeous cosy little space to hunker down for the night. I would certainly recommend but try get there before nightfall as it can be a bit tricky to find in the dark.

  • Welcoming host, lovely room and facilities, exceptionally clean and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend

  • It would be hard to find any fault with this really lovely accommodation and its welcoming, thoughtful host. Highest recommendation.

  • Jane's place is really lovely - stylish, comfortable, warm and very clean with breakfast an added bonus and the most glorious surrounding countryside.

  • This is a magical location.... For those of us who want to get away from the bustle of town but close enough to Stroud and beautiful countryside. A lovely comfortable bedroom and the luxury of a private sitting room and personal bathroom. Great easy breakfast options and a warm welcome. Definitely recommended and in my favourites.

The Loft at The Retreat is a lovely unique and OFF GRID space in a stunning location. If you're not put off by it's low ceiling and minimal electricity (we use solar power for lighting/phone charging and have a portable DVD player which guests can use) Our shower is an outdoor shower with hot water and the toilet is a compost loo. The kitchen is a basic outdoor set up and guests are welcome to dine at our Viking inspired long table. Guests are also welcome to use our pizza oven and BBQ.
Whether it's Roman Cirencester or Bohemian Stroud, riding stables or glider experiences, quiet walks or just a chance to escape that you're after, there's something for everyone here. The loft is on our campsite which can site 6 tents so you may end up sharing the site with other people and dogs. We don't allow children under 12 and sorry no dogs allowed in the loft. There is a train track which runs along side our site so please expect to hear the sound of trains every so often.
We are situated between two fantastic typical country pubs so if you fancy locally sourced food and beer it's just a short walk along farm tracks and along an old canal path. The village shop is a 30 minute stroll through fields with stunning views (it doesn't take everyone as long but the views can be distracting) Carry a camera at ALL times and if you're anything like me a memory card to help store all the photos I'm sure you will take. The wildlife/valley/weather all create the most amazing photographs. Don't forget to make time for a trip to the Winstone's ice cream factory, a tiny ice cream shop in the middle of the common.
  • We absolutely loved our stay with Izzy & Gareth. Not only were they the most amazing hosts, super attentive and just really lovely, but we've come away with two new friends that we're looking forward to seeing again. The location is phenomenal, the views are everything and this off-grid spot is the perfect spot to get away from it all and restore the soul with some beautiful nature and good company. The loft is a super cosy spot, with a really comfy bed, nice warm duvets and being able to hear trees whooshing around is lovely. And for anyone still wanting their bit of tech, theres a battery pack, DVD player, so know your comforts are catered for too. The kitchen area is amazing, the views you can take it in whilst cooking away and dining are something else. You've got plenty of choice too, a BBQ, stoves and a pizza oven. And your hosts are just everything you could ask for, we enjoyed spending our evening and morning chatting away for hours and getting some insights into off-grid living and Izzy and Gareth took the time to show us around, show us the nuts and bolts of their space and give us lots of tips too for starting our own venture. We can't thank them enough for inviting us into their home and sharing it with us! Can't wait to visit again :)

  • Such a beautiful spot, we had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous place. Lovely cosy bed, and such a beautiful area to cook in. We already can't wait to get back there :) hosts are so very friendly and helpful too. Thank you so much

  • Izzy, Gareth and their puppy Bandit were perfect hosts and have a really beautiful location for their property. It was easy to find with the directions given. There were plenty of duvets and blankets provided so we had a good sleep. Thanks for having us!

  • Lzzy and her partner are really nice people. They are very kind and hospitable . Before we arrived, lzzy had already waited us on the roadside and guided us the direction. Once you arrived the lovely cabin ,bendit(I dont know if I spell it correct),such a clever and cute dog l have never seem would give you a big hug that was quite impressive and made us feel so welcomed. There were many things I was fascinated. The whole view unexpected in such a beautiful valley. well-shaped horses raised by lzzy and it is very nice of lzzy to bring them there and let me touch them and fed them. It is magic that living in this cabin sends me back to the nature and let me get a release from hectic urban life. Thanks them again and wish I could come back one day

  • A blissfully remote, off-grid spot tucked away in the heart of beautiful countryside. There's no mains electricity, wifi or running water, but this just adds to the charm - and there's still solar power, a shower and 4G hotspot for those desiring a few home 'comforts'. Lots of lovely little homely touches in the accommodation, and the bed was wonderfully comfy with crisp cotton sheets - I awoke to birdsong and sunlight dappling through the wooden slats. Lovely! Izzy and her partner were also brilliant hosts, lending me a bike helmet and liberally sharing their whisky, which was just what the doctor ordered. Just one thing to note: the ceiling is quite low in the bedroom, so you can't quite stand up properly - this was fine for me, but worth noting just in case you have mobility issues. A definite 5/5.

    Rebecca2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location was beautiful, amazing views all around. The room was perfect, a comfortable bed, and a real homely feel to it.

  • Beautiful views and wonderful place tucked in the sticks!

    Georgia2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's glamping in a breathtaking spot. Hope to come back one day to enjoy more of the scenery, walks and lovely pubs in the area.

  • We spent the whole weekend in this excellent property that was of a very high spec. It exceeded our expectations. One did not want for anything. Gorgeous stove in cozy sitting room which had 2 cupboards of games that we took full advantage of over a warm fire. The whole property was spotlessly clean. All essential services were well labelled easing the pressure of trying to figure out how services worked. The surrounding area is just beautiful. The provided maps helped us plan our daily walks prior to returning to a well equipped kitchen to cook up a feast.

  • Honeysuckle House is absolutely stunning, even better than the already fantastic pictures. It’s really well equipped, especially with plenty of kitchen equipment if you’ve got the full amount of guests. The location is great with plenty of pubs to pick from within quick driving distance. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough and hope to be able to stay again!

    Lucy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • 12 of us stayed for a university friends reunion and it was the perfect space for us all to catch up and relax together. The open plan kitchen and diner was the best part of the house as we were all able to help cook and eat together without feeling cramped. Each bedroom was decorated beautifully and it really felt like being in someone’s home. We were so glad we chose to host the reunion in a house rather than a hotel. Whilst we didn’t leave the house all that much as it had everything we need we did venture to a local pub which was only a short walk away across lovely countryside. If your looking for a house to be with family or friends in the quiet countryside, this house is for you.

    Victoria2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Honeysuckle House is the perfect place, exactly as shown and described (if not better). We can’t wait to return for another long relaxing weekend, away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks again!

  • Prepared to feel totally spoilt! A lovely weekend escape with lots of friend and babies. Kitchen designed for lovely nights in...

    Camilla2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely cottage for a large group. There are actual beds for 12 people which were all very comfortable. The cottage is about 5-10 mins in a taxi from Kemble station and really close to the Thames path. You can do a c1.5 hour walk along the path to a lovely pub (Tunnel house inn). The cottage is decorated to a very high quality and has a lot of kitchen equipment which is good for a group group (glasses, plates, etc). I would definitely recommend and stay again, however next time I would ensure to confirm late check out.

This light and airy space is the perfect base for couples (with or without babies/toddlers) wishing to discover the Cotswolds. It is a 10 minute walk to the train station and a 5 minute drive from Cirencester. This country retreat is ideal for accessing the many pubs, restaurants and shops to be found locally. The house has its own front door and entrance porch where coats and boots can be left. Secure storage for bikes can be arranged if requested in advance. The fully fitted kitchen comprises:- an electric oven, grill and 2 hobs, microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine, fridge and freezer, glassware, crockery and pans. There is more than enough to self cater but should you require anything else, please ask and we will endeavour to obtain it. Breakfast can easily be found in town. However, we are very happy to source some breakfast provisions locally at extra cost. The seating area comprises; a three seater sofa and a TV and DVD player. There is no satellite TV, but there is a HDMI cable which can be connected to your laptop or the DVD player which has a large selection of DVDs to choose from. There is a gate leg table which can be folded out to make a lovely dining area.
The village of Kemble is situated in an idyllic countryside setting with many lovely walks on your doorstep but also centrally located to explore the rest of the Cotswolds. The village has a village shop and choice of pubs, plus its on the main train line from London. Within a 5 minute drive you can reach the market town of Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds. You can spend your time browsing through the many boutique shops or have a drink at one of the fine pubs or restaurants on offer. Also a short drive away is the market town of Tetbury with its many antique and boutique shops where you can spend an afternoon exploring or visit the private residence of Prince Charles & Camilla at Highgrove Gardens. Within an hours drive you can reach many of the renowned Cotswold villages and towns such as Bibury, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cheltenham, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bath. For the more adventurous you can access all the activities the Cotswold Water Park has to offer including waterskiing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, horse riding, golfing, fishing and even paint balling. I also recommend visiting the fabulous Butts Farm which has an award winning farm shop and is open to visitors with many animals to see and activities to take part in, only a 10 minute drive from Kemble.
  • A great place and exactly what was needed! We were left to our own devices (something that's been a problem with previous Airbnb experiences). Beautiful home and location! Perfect!

  • Rosie’s house was perfect for our festive weekend away in the heart of the cotswolds. We self catered for the weekend, her kitchen had everything we needed. She had a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us which was much appreciated. This charming accommodation had everything that we needed. Her house was easy to access, clean and well equipped. It felt like a home from home. Rosie’s prompt knowledge of the local area helped us immensely. Thanks for sharing your lovely home. Would highly recommend her wonderful home.

  • This location is great for people who fancy a long weekend in the Cotswalds. Big drive area for your car to be parked, and easy to get on and off in my Ford Fiesta. There is a really nice pub/restaurant within 10 minutes walk in a nice and quiet village. The location is great, nearby the Cotswalds airport, and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs to visit within 30 minutes drive. Not too far from Cirenchester either! The accommodation is really nice, cosy and warm. We enjoyed the break here. The bed is really comfortable and you have all the utilities that you need to cook. Ros is a really great host, really responsive and was very helpful. Overall, a really nice location and would recommend to anyone who would like a long weekend away! Ideal for couples.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay in this little cottage in the Cotswolds. It was in a great location to reach from Bristol and not far from the arboretum and also the Cotswolds Water Park - both great for walking despite the weather. The kitchen had everything you need to cook whilst staying. The sofa and bed are both very comfortable. The whole place was exceptionally clean. I will definitely be recommending to friends. Roa was so super helpful - answering very quickly. Thanks for our stay 😁

  • Fantanstic stay! The cottage was perfect. It was cute and very cosy. The place was warm and had all the requires amenities. Round the corner from all the hotspots of the beautiful Cotswolds. Check in was perfect and the instructions were very clear. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thank you for everything Ros.

  • We stayed for 5 nights over the New Year and it was the perfect little base for us in the Cotswolds. It's located in a very peaceful corner of Wiltshire with delicious pubs all within a 10-mile radius. The Wheatsheaf in Oaksey and The Potting Shed in Crudwell are delicious - the latter in particular is just unreal - and you've got Malmesbury, Cirencester, Gloucester and Bristol all within reach, too. You can do as much or as little as you like, here, and it's truly a home from home.

  • Sarah was an incredibly welcoming and accomodating host, with a lovely house. An excellently convenient place to stay!

    Kristian2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place was lovely and clean. The room was very cosy and warm. We had travel delays on the way up that caused some issues with check in, despite this Sarah waited in even though it disturbed her plans. Will forever be thankful as I had an important interview the next day! Thank you Sarah ❤️

The hosts are incredible and helpful, the room was clean and had everything we needed or a few days of relaxing. We would recommend the place to anyone who wants to enjoy some fresh air and traditional British landscapes. :)

A beautiful Grade 11 listed country house, comfortable with luxurious touches and interior design influences. The house has many original features and lots of nooks and crannies to hideaway with a good book or work on a project.
The house is right next door to Siddington church and opposite an ancient tithe barn. It is in a very quiet cul de sac, in the village but slightly apart from it. The village is very near Cirencester, a thriving market town which is the gateway to the Cotswolds and we also have wonderful walks and open fields with horses on our doorstep.
It is a friendly village with a village shop and pub which serves good food within walking distance.
  • Very comfortable bed, beautiful views, right by a church. Woke up to some deer outside the window. Breakfast was really delicious and hosts are lovely!

Spacious converted stable on ground level. Very quiet, but very accessible for exploring the Cotswolds. Super king/twin bed, plus sofa bed in living area. Kitchen/dining area with hob/microwave/fridge, super fast broadband! Courtyard with bbq. Short stroll to Head of River Thames! Bike hire at Kemble Station. Cirencester 2 miles; Highgrove /Westonbirt Arboretum 8m; Cheltenham 18m;. Bath/Marlborough 28m; Oxford/Stratford 40m. Can be booked WITH Wood Fired Hot Tub via our other listing.
Our guests seem to like the rural setting and relaxing environment, but that they are central for exploring the Cotswolds and further afield. Many walk to the local pubs and catch a taxi home! Most people stroll out and look at the Head of the River Thames - which is fairly disappointing it has to be said for most of the year, but after a lot of rain transforms! Still fun to say you've seen it! We are 0.5 miles away from route 45 of the National Cycle Network - which "traverses the Cotswold Water Park on bridleways (which can be muddy in wet weather), to swing across the high plateau of the Cotswold Hills to the ancient Roman town of Cirencester. After this it travels down the escarpment to Nailsworth and via traffic free railway paths and canal towpaths to Stroud " Bikes can be hired from Kemble Railway Station via the Donkey Republic App. Just to remind you that there is NO oven in the Stables.
We are a rural location, where you can walk straight into fields. You can walk to the source of the River Thames and as we are at the start of the Thames Path - so you could just keep walking to London! You can walk to the Thames Head Inn, The Tunnel House in Coates or The Duck in Ewen but only across fields and in DAYLIGHT!! Many guests have used us as a half way house between sight seeing in Bath and Oxford. We are 2 miles from Cirencester; 7 miles from Tetbury; 10 miles from Malmesbury
  • Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommend.

Thanks for everything - we will be back!

  • This was the perfect place to start our Thames Path journey. After a long night of travel from Vancouver, Canada it was so welcoming to have Julie meet us at the Kemble train station. The accommodations are cozy and full of charming, thoughtful touches. Comfy bed, super quiet, and everything we needed for breakfast waiting for us. Communication was prompt throughout booking process and our stay. Highly recommend this property, within walking distance to the Thames Source!

  • We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Talliers Cottage. The weather was awful so we were really pleased to have a nice space to relax in, as well being literally a few steps from the town centre cafes, pubs and shops etc. The space had all we needed and the airing rack was very helpful for drying our drenched clothes. Parking wasn't an issue in the Waterloo and we were able to pay for the following day's parking after 6.00pm so that the ticket was on display from 8am the following morning - £6.50 for all day parking. The place was clean and breakfast provisions were appreciated . We look forward to staying in Talliers again on our next visit to the Cotswolds. Thanks again p.s. lots of good places to eat - Cote Brassiere and Tierra and Mar were excellent

Lovely double bedroom within centrally located townhouse. Shops, restaurants, museum and parks only a few minutes walk away. Parking available upon request. Suits family, business people and individuals looking for stunning accommodation in a quiet but central position. One of three listings available.
Stunning Victorian family townhouse, decorated and furnished in keeping with the surroundings. Just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Cirencester and all amenities, but in a quiet residential road with no through traffic.
St Peter's Road is a quiet residential road of Victorian houses. As it is a no through road, we are lucky that there is little traffic which is what makes it so tranquil despite its prime location and it is just a 2 - 3 minute walk to the centre of town. The town offers a wide selection of coffee shops and independent retailers, alongside larger stores and a very good museum.

Her home is within walking distance of the shopping district and the Abbey in Cirencester, yet her neighborhood is silent at night which made for restful sleeping. We enjoyed our week's stay and hope to return in the future.

Self-contained bedroom annexe with bathroom in the heart of a charming, quiet Cotswold village. Breakfast hamper with bread/pastries, preserves, fruit juice, milk, cereal and fruit. Friendly local pub serving good food. Access to Cotswold Water Park, Thames Path, Kemble Airfield and Cirencester with its shops and restaurants. The annexe is great for couple. An additional (small) single bed can be added for two friends sharing or for parents with a child (travel cot available for babies).
This is a newly decorated double room in a stone-built annexe separate to the main cottage, with it's own private access. It has a lovely oak bed with a new mattress and cotton sheets. The ensuite bathroom has a toilet and shower, towels, shampoo and other essentials.
We are located in a small village in the Cotswold Water Park, an area of lakes and countryside very popular for walks, watersports and nature reserves. The village has a lovely pub, The Bakers Arms, which serves lunches and evening meals. Nearby Cirencester, with it’s roman museum and parish church, is known as the capital of the Cotswolds. We are a perfect base to explore this wonderful area, and are on the Thames path very close to the source. We are 25 minutes by car from Cheltenham and Stroud and an hour from Oxford, Bath and Bristol. The local area offers an abundance of beautiful market towns and villages and there are many fantastic pubs nearby.

  • This Annexe is located in a wonderful spot with easy access to local amenities, the Cotswold Water parks and Cirencester. It is in a very quiet spot which offers privacy within a delightful community. The Host, Mair, is incredibly helpful and accommodating - she is excellent at responding to emails, and I had everything I needed. The Annexe was very clean, comfortable, and had all the basic needs. There bedding, towels etc. were plentiful and in great condition. Overall, I would highly recommend this property.

    Philip2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Expect all you need, in an easy to access compact village location. Mair is thoughtful and considerate, she provides all for daily living. The village is quiet, with local walks on the doorstep along with local pub. Its great to come back to the cottage from chilly walks knowing there's heating and a kettle with nibbles.

  • We had a lovely stay at Jean and Brian’s Bungalow. The place had everything we could need, was nicely decorated and was extremely spacious. The welcome hamper was such a lovely touch and was gratefully received. The Bungalow is a short drive into Cirencester, which has plenty of pubs and restaurants. Jean and Brian went out of their way to find us a pub to watch the rugby game! Overall a great stay and we would recommend to a friend.

  • Extraordinary detail and love was put into the design and upkeep of this very cozy cottage in an excellent location. It is spacious, and renovated to excellent standards with clear thought put into the little details. The hosts were extremely welcoming and any instructions and advice were very clear. Would certainly come again!

    Jiliu2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jean's place is a beautiful bungalow very recently converted to the highest standard with all modern conveniences and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay here. Jean left us a beautiful welcome basket with lots of goodies. The wood-burning stove was marvellous and we were able to do some great country walks right from the door. They even came out to meet us when we got lost! Highly recommended.

    Hilary2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic bungalow, a short drive from cirencester. The hosts were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately our stay was interrupted by storm Dennis, however the hosts were very attentive and ensured we were as comfortable as possible. The bungalow was spotless and cosy. Highly recommend!

    Leah2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in the Cotswolds that offers everything one would need for their time away from home. The goods basket was a nice touch and had the essentials we needed for our days away. Nice, clean and private; I don’t think there is anything else we could have asked for.

    Vasi2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow, hosted by Brian and Jean was amazing. They are very friendly and helpful hosts. We were lucky enough to be only the 3rd guests since renovation, so everything was immaculate. Spotlessly clean and loads of great little touches throughout. The welcome hamper was unexpected but really great and very appreciated. We didn’t venture too far as I booked for a retreat away from the manicness of home, to enable work on my dissertation. But there’s shops around for day to day needs and I’m pretty sure lots of other things to do and see. But we didn’t really need to go anywhere because the place was so cozy, especially once we lit the wood burner. Thoroughly recommend and would book again in a heartbeat.

A lovingly converted studio apartment in the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds ‘Duntisbourne Abbots’. An idyllic location with many local amenities. Beautiful walks begin just out of the front gate. Gorgeous village church. Award winning restaurants, delis and pubs just a short drive away. Secluded private heaven and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The ‘Capital of The Cotswolds’ Cirencester town is less than 5 miles away and is a quintessential Roman market town with oodles of charm.
Private entrance leads to a small entrance hall perfect for storing muddy boots and hanging coats. Then a locked door opens into the private studio apartment. A lovely snug bathroom (bath/shower/sink/loo/heated towel rail) then self contained mini kitchenette (kettle/toaster/fridge/freezer/microwave/dishwasher). And a small computer desk with pedestal high chairs, lovely antique 4 poster double bed and glorious views (from the bed!) over the Cotswolds. A small south facing front garden with seating may be visited by my friendly Labrador’s.. and is mostly private.
It’s such a gorgeous village. Lovely walking. A short drive to great restaurants, farm shops, and many more lovely things that the Cotswolds have to offer.
  • Really clean, modern and comfortable stay. Amenities were spot on and in a quiet spot which was super. Bed was really comfy, some really nice touches with the continental breakfast and bathroom shower gels. Host was friendly and welcoming. Certainly will use to commute to Cheltenham festival next time!

  • What a lovely place to escape to - if you're looking for great walks, amazing pubs and a cosy place to relax at the end of the day, this place is for you. The village is glorious, the property is beautiful and well appointed and Abigail had thought of all sorts of extra little touches that made things really special. She left us a selection of delicious foods for us to enjoy for breakfast all from a local farm shop and was helpful and kind with tips and advice.

    Ellie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking at staying in a quaint location in the cotswolds look no further! Abigails property is located in an idyllic setting with beautiful walks right outside the door. A walk down to the ford will wash off your wellies and wet dogs. It is clean and Abigail provides local produce for a lovely breakfast. There is a 5/5 pub located about a 5 minute drive down the way. We will definitely be visiting again.

    Jonny2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • So we had a lovely two nights at Abigails place, Many an Air BnB now don’t do the breakfast part of BnB.. Abigails offering was more like Air B n Half Board, lots supplied including a nice chilled bottle of bubbles for arrival. Many toiletries supplied also in the bathroom if you had forgotten something. Great accommodation, clean and very friendly host. I wish there was a pub within walking distance to retire to in the evenings rather than having to drive but that doesn’t take away from the lovely stay. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Take your first glimpse of the rolling fields surrounding our traditional Cotswold stone farmstead, as you travel along our private, tree lined drive. In an AONB, the farmstead sits on the edge of the Golden Valley. Dating back to the 1700s, Little Finch's Cottage is nestled within the original Farmhouse, where you can still find exposed beams and sunny window seats. Step through Little Finch's front door into the lounge/breakfast room which is linked to the bedroom by a steep spiral staircase.
Hidden from view and surrounded by its' own land, Kings Farm remained largely untouched by the modern world for almost two hundred years. The original farmstead buildings tell of a vanished time but neglect of many years has taken its' toll. Kings Farm is one of the last original farmsteads of its' kind in the local area and is very slowly undergoing sympathetic repair and restoration. Guest accommodation is newly decorated and forms part of the refurbishment of the farmhouse, which was in a bad state of repair, when purchased in 2018. The guest shower room is a new addition to the house and is just a few steps across the passageway from the bedroom, which has an attractive window seat and Victorian fireplace, which is not useable. The guest sitting room has a Victorian open fireplace but central heating has been installed throughout the house. No kitchen or washing up facilities. In the late nineteen eighties, Kings Farm was used as a location for a TV series called, Forever Green. The storyline was of a family, with a badly asthmatic daughter, who relocated from London to a neglected Farmhouse in the countryside. Various environmental issues were covered in the series. We lead an outdoor life as we have dogs and horses. Guests are allowed to bring dogs. The accommodation is suitable for one large dog e.g. Labrador or two small/medium dogs e.g. Cocker Spaniel. Guests are welcome to exercise their dog(s), on leads, across our fields, which are just a few yards from the farmhouse. WiFi is not currently available.
The exceptionally beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds is all around, with woods and valleys, stone walls , villages and hamlets whose cottages and farmsteads are built with Cotswold limestone. Ancient footpaths criss cross the landscape. The Daneway Inn, sitting close to the Severn and Thames canal towpath, can be reached by following the footpath which crosses our land. We are about three miles from the village of Miserden, which has Misarden Park at its' heart. The plant nursery has a welcoming cafe while, in the village, there is the Carpenters Arms pub. The town of Stroud is about a 20 minute drive away. The Saturday Farmers Market is well worth a visit, with many local organic foodstuffs to purchase. We are a few miles from the main base of Giffords Circus, a touring village-green circus. The market town of Cirencester is about a twenty minute drive away and Cheltenham, which hosts several horse racing festivals, together with annual cricket, jazz, science, music and literature festivals, is about a forty five minute drive from us.
  • A really lovely old farm in a beautiful location. Diane was fantastic from the minute we booked until the afternoon when we left. From going out of her way to provide lots of information on local walks to bringing a tasty breakfast to our living room! There are some great walks you can find of varying lengths without having to drive anywhere. We had a great weekend. Thank you.

  • Diane and Paul ate amazing hosts in a truly fabulous location. You really have to hear their story for yourself to get the full picture, but we'venever stayed in a place with such character and such a deep connection between the family and the land itself. They were really welcoming and we had a great time meeting their gorgeous horses. We really recommend them enough... a fantastic gateway to the cotswolds and one of the last real gems in this part of the world. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.. Dan and Hannah

  • Whilst storm Dennis did it’s best to dampen our spirits during our weekend away in the Cotswolds, the loggia was a lovely cosy refuge from the storm! Barbara has prepared the heating to be on before we arrived and the Loggia was very clean and comfy with all the appliances etc you could need. The location is great, close to so many beautiful villages and the proximity of the local pub the Wheatsheaf is fantastic! Dog friendly too and Frank loved the private enclosed garden space. Would love to come back in the sun!

All the little touches Barbara had got for us for when we arrived really made us feel at home and the location to the pub just put the icing on the cake. (We would really recommend visiting the Wheatsheaf pub for food and a drink if you stay at the loggia cottage.)

Tarlton is a pretty and sleepy hamlet, off the beaten track but within ten minutes of the historic market towns of Cirencester and Tetbury. It is close to the heart of the scenic Cotswold region with major attractions like Stow, Chipping Camden and Burford and bigger destinations like Bath and Cheltenham all within about 40 minutes drive. Only slightly farther afield are Shakespeare's Stratford, Stonehenge, Blenheim Palace and the dreaming spires of Oxford. Asphodel is a perfect base to relax or explore. Locally just a mile away via country path or dirt road is the local pub, the Tunnel House, originally built to house workers on the canal tunnel, whose 19th century classical entrance is adjacent. There are excellent gastro-pubs like The Bell at Sapperton, Trouble House Inn, Potting Shed (below) and Village Pub Barnsley all within just ten minutes drive. For special occasions there are critically acclaimed destinations like Barnsley House, Calcot Manor or The Rectory. But you don't always need 'destinations'. One of the delights of the Cotswolds is touring the picturesque country lanes and discovering picture postcard villages where the tourist buses never venture. • A beautiful, idyllic cottage. The perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. The cottage is ideally located to several places of interest and award winning eateries. The garden is absolutely beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. We loved the little touches waiting for us on arrival, the local produce basket, logs and kindling for the open fire and the most stunning roll top Bath. We can’t wait to visit again!

  • Wonderful cottage in a gorgeous village but also close enough to local towns and tourist spots. I will definitely consider coming back in summer as didn’t manage to make use of the garden, which was stunning.
