Ann is really welcoming. The house is a peaceful haven at the top of a hill and the ensuite room is just lovely. Everything was perfectly clean. We used the kitchen in the evening and Ann provides us a breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for everything!

Ann and Malcom’s Farm is a special place to stay. They provide everything you would possibly want and are delightful people to get to know. Their Farm is situated high in the hills with gorgeous views of the Southern Alps and the grazing sheep and cows. It is wonderfully quiet and a nice escape. Christchurch is about 45 mins away and there are good dining options in Darwin which is 15 mins away.

Janetta's place is comfortable, quiet, and clean; I recommend it to others.

We used this property as an overnight stopover on the way from Nelson to Wanaka - perfectly located close to Christchurch and the Inland Scenic Highway. Beautifully appointed detached cottage in the grounds of the hosts house, quiet and secure off the main road. Comfortable bedroom and bathroom with ample kitchen and lounge space. Really liked the extra touches such as fresh bread and farm eggs as well as milk left ready for us. Really excellent place and would be comfortable as a stay for several days.

The perfect place! Gareon, a very hospitable hostess, keeps the house clean. We arrived very late and did not have time to meet and talk. But her notes on how and where to go, what to eat and where to get, were very nice. For breakfast, eggs, as we understand, the hostess holds chickens. Muesli milk toasts jam. For such money, this miracle is simple! Warm, comfortable, comfortable if you go to Tekapo. We arrived late at Christchurch and spent the night in this house with delight. Immensely grateful to the hostess.

We had a lovely two night stay with Gareon at her beautiful farm. The bedroom was spacious with a view out to the garden and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The farm is in a peaceful and quiet location, we really loved it. Gareon is the perfect host and we look forward to staying again when we’re in the area. Highly recommend

A rural and quiet environment with everything at hand.

River Retreat is a real retreat tucked away in Coalgate, with an outlook of farm land and trees (and a horse). The place is stylish, cosy and had everything we needed. The freshly baked bread was such a warm welcome after a long drive over Arthur's Pass! Margie made everything easy for us too. And we slept so well in the bed.

Amazing space, felt like home away from home! Very generous breakfast, amazing fresh eggs! Really enjoyed the rural setting and afternoon walks around the paddocks to see cows, sheep with lambs and very friendly goats. Walks in local area were great. Perfect location to walk and ski.

Hazel Tree Homestay was an absolute delight, a truly fantastic place to stay at as well as to explore the beauty of New Zealand within reach of the place. The place is very big - the rooms and bathroom and one has it all to oneself and can cook and relax to one's heart's content. We also enjoyed interacting with the owners and their pets who were helpful and friendly and walking around the property and swimming in the pool. We couldn't have desired a better place.

Pamela and her husband are the NICEST people. Honestly one of the best AirBnb’s I have stayed at in terms of hospitality. She has three lovely Pugs who are super friendly, and they even had a few puppies too! The beds are super comfortable, and Pamela truly makes you feel at home.

We booked at the last minute because we were delayed on our journey towards Arthurs Pass, and were lucky to find a host as welcoming as Pamela. We were made to feel at home, were able to cook ourselves a meal, and get a great night’s sleep. Everything was perfect.

Easily one of the best airbnbs ive stayed in. Pamela is a very thoughtful host giving great local tips, making breakfast, and helping us wash dishes. We had great conversations with her and she gave us a tour of her beautiful garden full of veg, flowers and fruit trees. You can see other animals like chickens, goat and sheep as well. We also saw a lot of stars at the house. The pugs are very cute and friendly too!

Walnut Cottage at Karen's was the highlight of our trip to NZ! Located in a peaceful area outside of Christchurch gives a great opportunity to rest after long driving. Karen is a wonderful host, greeted us in the afternoon and introduced to her family members (animals included) which we were really looking forward to! We had a lovely chat about the animals, the farm and all kind of stuff - next day following Karen's and her daughter Ruby-Rose's recommendations we drove to Castle Hill - a rocky hill where LOTR and Chronicles of Narnia were filmed. We had a great time playing with the cats and Benji the lorikeet. Wifi signal is obviously stronger by the main house, but there were no issues with managing to stream in the evening one of the LOTR films ;) Following other airbnb reviews we asked for the cooked breakfast and we loved it! A perfect omelette with roasted kumara and kale with fresh vegetables from the garden was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks of eating toast with PB&J. We will never forget the warmth and kindness that Karen spreads around her and shares with her guests. Would love to come back some day!

The cottage is tastefully furnished with a fridge, a big bed and a small table. We enjoyed our stay very much - Karen is a very nice and caring hostess. Highly recommended.

Karin and Nick are wonderful hosts; kind and generous. Communication prior to arrival was speedy and clear. We thought that this was an excellent Air BnB experience. It was easy to settle in as we were given a smiley warm welcome. The makings of a cereal breakfast was provided in the cottage but we chose to have a cooked breakfast of cheese omelette made with fresh laid eggs, fried potatoes and ratatouille with toast, tea and coffee. It was magnificent! If you like heritage style and friendly ambience, love home made goodies and enjoy the company of animals then you’re in for a treat staying at Walnut Tree Cottage. It’s a comfortable and quirky place. There’s a pleasant little outdoor seating area underneath the Walnut tree where you can while away some time cracking and munching walnuts! It was all just our style. Karin makes beautiful hand made soap and we couldn’t resist buying several bars from an extensive choice to take back for ourselves in the U.K. and as gifts for friends Be aware that, as is made clear in the booking information, there is a short walk from the cottage to the bathroom.

I was looking for a place near the Christchurch airport but away from city congestion. Jennys' place was perfect, very close to airport, easy to find but in a quiet country setting. Jenny and Richard are excellent hosts I felt very welcomed from the get go. As Jenny would say "come as a guest leave as a friend" She goes over the top as a host. A delightful comfortable cottage, beautifully furnished and in a very quiet location. Ideal for Christchurch, about 40 mins drive away, if you are using the airport or just wanted a place out of the city. Excellent communication with Rosemary the host.

Tops: + perfect location to Christchurch and Canterbury region. + cottage has everything you will need. + style of cottage is charming + quite area at night + Rosemary is super fast in responding and check in and out is so easy. Very friendly communication. Downs: - water pressure especially under the shower needs a lot of nerves. - cottage gets cold easily - even with almost 20 degrees outside during the day. However firewood is provided as well as two eletric heater. - house lays directly on a street. Not much traffic though if cars or trucks are passing you feel and hear it in the house. - you will get a detailed message from Rosemary how to handle things around the cottage e.g. rubbish to take back with you or arrange something the the neighbor; to clean cottage yourself or the hint to the low water pressure - all not super big things but better to detail all the specs in the overview description of the cottage before booking.

Tony’s unit was a fantastic base for exploring Canterbury and beyond. The apartment is generously proportioned, with modern amenities and a comfortable bed. The kitchen is perfect, with everything you need to cook meals (with grocery stores about 15 mins down the road). Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and there were thoughtful touches including extra linen and towels if needed during our stay. There was also a front loader washing machine for laundry which was very handy. Tony was a great host and made our stay a breeze. Highly recommend.

A great wee spot with everything you need and nothing you dont. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek and parents enjoyed watching them!

Funky and cool space. It is accurately described as a bach (cabin) with outside bath (flush toilet, hot shower). Jase is was great, warm and welcoming. Our kids loved the play space he was able to share with us. We stayed 2 nights as a stop over between Queenstown and Picton. On our full day here we easily did a nice hike at Castle Rocks as wel as the very interesting Cave Stream cave-hike/wade. Jase gave us some nice tips for those excursions. Kitchen was small and simple as described, but fine for morning coffee. Though small, Springfield has a couple of good, reasonably priced cafes, and a pub that is open later serving really good meals.

Perfect place to be!

Jason's place is really basic but that's exactly what we wanted! He was friendly and went above and beyond what we expected, responding really helpfully to our questions about the area and sharing ideas from his deep well of local experience. He even lent us some head torches! The space is really flexible - our two teens slept on the loft platform, but could have been on mattresses on the main floor - and the single-up / double-down bunk provided for us and the little one. The bathroom across the patio just adds to the cool!

Small independent house, quiet, very well equipped and comfortable. It was a very pleasant break on our way.

There is everything in the house, even small eggs with eggs. The rural scenery is very good. There are horses at the door. There are too many flies because there are horses. I eat them all the time

Lovely accommodation

There are cute kittens and many dogs in the house. There is a large living room and kitchen, very convenient living. The landlord and tenant live together, something can be quickly resolved. Nearby for walking, beautiful scenery. From the nearest supermarket only two junctions, be convenient. Car can stop roadside, free, to the scenic area or downtown can quickly find the road to drive.

Jenny was very welcoming and her hospitality after a long day traveling was outstanding! Also super close to the airport for convenience without any of the noise!

Jenny is an amazing host. She responded really quickly to my last minute booking and on checking in, nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious, clean and lovely new bed made up. Great WiFi (best we've had in NZ), laundry facilities and a delicious breakfast. Also a great location for the airport. Highly recommended!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Ravens Nest - we can’t stop thinking about it! The ‘hobbit house’ is so cozy and comfortable and the views can’t be beat. The hosts are so hospitable and welcoming, we truly loved everything about our stay. Make sure to feed all the sheep and give Elsa a special pat. We hope to visit again one day :)

Wade and Izzy are tall for hobbits and exceptionally kind and hospitable, even for hobbits. Weary adventures would do well to soak in the tranquility and warmth created by the love and care they have poured into this place.

The Raven's Nest was perfect in every way. The thoughtful touches and obvious love that has gone into creating the space made it feel so special. The bed was super comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Easy to follow check-in instructions and friendly hosts.

I stayed here because it was on my travel route, in the location I needed to be, and it looked very cute. I’m a LOTR fan but not a total die-hard, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Izzy and her family were so great and welcoming. They’ve built an AWESOME hobbit dwelling with hands down the most comfortable bed I experienced in my time in NZ. They also pointed me to the Hotel restaurant/ pub for dinner, and I ended up having a great meal and making friends with the very friendly locals. Last, they provide an amazing breakfast with so many great little treats, more than I could eat! Great experience that I wasn’t totally expecting and I absolutely recommend!

The Raven’s Nest was a wonderful resting spot for us at the end of a busy trip. If you can, stay two nights to really soak up and enjoy the amazing space that has been so lovingly created by Izzy and Wayde. As has been said in other reviews every detail has been taken care of and swinging in the hammock reading my book in that wonderful space, with the backdrop of snow peaked mountains, was bliss! The breakfast was amazing 😉 and second breakfast too - there was no way we could mange it all in one sitting! Fab spot, amazing hosts … don’t miss out!

If you ever find yourself traveling through Springfield, especially if you are fans of Lord of the Rings, you MUST stay at The Raven’s Nest. Izzy & Wayde are incredible hosts and have put such care and attention to detail into making the space so special. Wayde greeted us upon arrival with food to feed the animals, including the famously friendly, Elsa, their rescued sheep. We spent the rest of the evening enjoying the peace and quiet and even did some star gazing as the clouds passed. I do want to note - my husband is 6 ft 4 in tall (193cm) and he had no problem fitting inside the home, bathroom or the bed. In the morning, we were treated to an incredible breakfast of fresh pastries, jams, honey, fruit and freshly laid eggs from their chickens. It was the perfect way to start our morning - we didn’t want to leave! Thank you Izzy & Wayde for letting us share your incredible home with us.

Nice Airbnb with a United States Route 66 theme. Lovely amenities and close to some great restaurants. Laine was a great host that made sure we had everything we needed! She greeted us when we arrived and showed us around her property including a shed with awesome and quirky treasures from the US. I would highly recommend!

Rose Cottage is a lovely little gem. Absolutely enjoyed my stay. Super clean. The farm animals are adorable. Very quiet and a great location just outside Christchurch.

Julie is an excellent host with great communication. She was very obliging when we booked at the last moment. The cottage is delightfully set up with its relaxing rose theme. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the animals. Everything is as described on the site including no kitchen. One thing to remember is that now that the local pub is not available after burning down meals are not within walking distance.

The most delightful place to stay! Julie & her family were incredibly welcoming, willing to assist & fast with communication. The gorgeous space has special touches everywhere you look and my partner & I loved the clean fresh air. Only a small drive into Christchurch and to small surrounding towns. Bed was really comfortable! The cottage is the cutest & gardens and animals are such a added bonus. I highly recommend staying here!

We were lucky to meet the Bernard and Jane and share their lovely home for one night, where we were introduced us to the local area, cuisine, and neighbors. Their home is in a lovely setting, very comfortable with beautiful views of the mountains and grain fields. We wish we could have stayed longer and highly recommend this wonderful home and our marvelous hosts to our friends. The Hawkins farm is well located near Arthur's Pass and Christ Church. We enjoyed every minute including the local breakfast with fresh coffee, and fresh fruit. This is a very special experience and we will highly recommend this wonderful place to all our special friends.

It is a nice place. We got a double bed instead of bunk bed. Amber is super cool. Very spacious kitchen and multiple washrooms so no problem there. Total value for money.

The Tiny House was amazing. It was clean and very fun to be in. Janette was very welcoming and her kids are just the most wonderful :) Her beds and bedding are super comfortable. I can sleep in it all day :) Would recommend and would come back 2x, 3x and more!!!

What a perfect stopover this turned out to be!! Janette is a such friendly host who is passionate about her Tiny House. It is a beautifully made space with plenty of room to fit our group of six! The shower was AMAZING and the Queen bed was SO comfy. Janette has three children who ended up playing cricket with our kids all night, which was great! The children have pet chickens which our kids loved because you can pick them up and pet them!! Overall I would totally recommend this place, it’s a top spot!!

Janette’s place is one of the unique stays we ever had in South Island. We loved every bit of it. She didn’t miss anything in her welcoming story. The place is very clean and tidy. I am sure this would be a great stay specially for a couple. The little kitchen got everything where we can cook a hot meal. Upstairs sleeping place is very thoughtful and we loved it. If we ever come back to Oxford, we would always book their place.

The Tiny House is amazing. For anyone who has watched Tiny House Nation, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience of living tiny for a short while. The house is super sturdy, well appointed and suitable for a family of four or even five (the extra room is very handy). We really enjoyed chatting with our hosts and the kids were so happy to have the hosts’ kids to play with around the farm. Plenty of fun things to do around the place, including playing with the pet chickens! This is a real special experience, I highly recommend it.

My family had a wonderful and memorable time at the tiny house. The house is clean and comfy. Our three kids enjoyed the big land where Janette’s family lives and where this tiny house is built. My children were always eager to get out to play in the wood and the field, with cows and chickens, and Janette’s lovely children. We felt so much welcomed and at home. Janette provided detailed information about different activities we could do during the stay. We wish our stay could’ve been longer.

Janette is very friendly and provided us valuable tips around Oxford. Her space is really spacious, which allowed us to run around in the fields and interact with the farm animals. We enjoyed our time very much in the cosy house built from scratch.

This house truck is a truly awesome kiwi experience, especially when you are greeted by the flock of friendly chooks at your the doorstep, the mooing of the cows in the paddock or being invited for a game of cricket with the family's kids. Ideal stop over for a night or more with Oxfords shops only 5 mins away. Would love to stay again, even in winter with ski slopes only 45 mins drive away!

I don't think I can emphasize enough how wonderful a stay we had at the Wairiri farm. Lucy was great at communicating prior to our arrival, and check-in was very simple. We got there in time to see their cheese making in operation, and they were even kind enough to share some with us! The whole family was incredibly welcoming and we really enjoyed getting to know them and share some stories of our own. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

This is the only water buffalo farm on the South Island. You get a chance to experience the whole farm life. Lucy and Christo are very friendly and take all the time to explain everything - despite a busy schedule. We bought some buffalo cheese and milk for our ongoing journey. So delicious :-)

Lucy is an excellent host and her farm stay is more than just a stay - it is an EXPERIENCE! Her place is easy to find and the description of the room is spot on. I would add that you can hear the horses from the room which reminds you that you are at a farm stay. It is fantastic. But then there are the water buffalo! I took Lucy up on the dinner option and it was most excellent! In addition to an amazing dinner, Lucy provided different types of cheese from the buffalo milk! It was wonderful to learn about the milking operation and to spend time with Lucy and her family. I recommend this stay and highly recommend the dinner option Lucy provides. Great way to learn about a niche farm production in NZ.

Rose is a friendly and warm host. The cottage is cozy and comfortable with modern furnishings and a clean and tidy space. Rose was very thoughtful, and it was lovely to come home to a beatutiful warm retreat at the end of the day. Highly recommend a trip to darfield, even if its just so that you can stay with Rose!

You will not be disappointed with your stay at Rose’s apartment. She has provided a 5-star+ experience which exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is very well set up with everything a family could need, and to a very high standard of quality. We felt thoroughly spoilt during our stay with Rose, and would definitely love to stay with her again if the opportunity arises.

A very lovely host and a very nice accommodation!

I liked to stay there. The room is really big if you travel by yourself and everything was really clean. It is a peaceful surrounding and you've got a great view at the mountains. Not to forget the lamas. To quote Louise, the gas station has a limited amount of food. So if you fancy something special, bring it with you just like I did. I used the BBQ on the terrace to make myself some dinner and it works perfectly. The bed is really good and the breakfast is basic (2 sorts of cereal, fruit, milk, coffee and tea) but it's definitely enough to have a good start in the day. I can recommend to stay there. I really liked it.

Francine, was extremely responsive and who I would consider a great host. Her cottage was so comfortable and still had that farm-cottage feel. A lot of the cottage felt authentic paired with modern conveniences as well. Great little place, and you should definitely try to schedule a tour if available.

Amazing place to stay. A fire was in the wood stove waiting for us, and the house has everything you need! Our hosts were amazing, and showed us their peonies! We had food we brought with us since it was Christmas Day, and the kitchen was well supplied to cook. Highly recommend! Even had a Christmas tree set up. Such a sweet place.

This place was perfect for our family trip through the South Island. We stayed for 2 nights in this special place and enjoyed the amazing views and scenery. The nearby Rakaia Gorge trek was incredible and we could access it on foot from the accommodation location. We also enjoyed a fresh trout supper thanks to a catch from the river!

The views are incredible, we came to this oasis after an activity overload and it was a vacation within a vacation. Waking up to see the mountain and river right in front of you was amazing. Very cozy home. We used Apple Maps to try to get the property from the Airbnb address and it took us on a 30 minutes detour behind the property, so maybe use Google Maps or just put in the Mount Hutt Lodge as your destination and that will get you very close.

Great views and location

The place is beautiful. It is perched on a corner lot with a deck to enjoy beautiful views. The stay comes with all amenities to cook and clean. It was very well done. The laundry option was a huge plus to us. The three dogs are adorable and made our stay more welcoming. 😊

Carl is a great host, he met us when we arrived. He introduced to the place as well as his super sweet dogs. The place had everything we needed and was very clean. We loved our stay here and only wish we could have stayed longer. This is one of our favorite places we’ve stayed at in New Zealand and definitely recommend.

Dawn and Carl were great hosts. Dawn met us on arrival and showed us to the guest wing. It was sparkling clean and had everything we needed/wanted- great cooking facilities, a washing machine, a huge bath (Dawn even dropped by some Epsom Salts for us to use knowing we’d been out hiking for the day), easy wifi access and dogs to pat! We loved it and had a wonderful stay here!

Carl and Dawn's place is a refuge and a home away from home. They were great communicators, really flexible, and such fantastic hosts. The space is off the beaten path but so worth it for the quiet and the views. The home was well set up and perfectly clean. While there were already a few items for our young children, they offered more toys and books from their personal stash, which was well received by our kiddos who had been on the road for a long, long time.
