Places to stay in Coachford
The cabin is new and handcrafted with a modern twist. There's a lot of things to see and do. There's pubs, shops, chippers, hair & beauty, post office, doctor & chemist. Blarney (25 min), Killarney (55 min), Kinsale (40 min), lee Valley Aquapark (5 min), Farrenwoods National Park (5 min) great for picnics and walks, Rowing Centre (5 min), Angling Centre (5 min), 18 Hole Golf Course (10 min), Cinema (20 min). There's also lovely walks alongside the river.
One of the very few log cabins in Ireland that gives guest the opportunity to stay in.
Situated in a quite village, very friendly neighbors and great community spirit.
  • Very comfortable and warm, and the hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. Kitchen contents varies a bit from cabin to cabin, so if you plan to cook, ask before you arrive if there will be a frying pan, sieve/colander and chopping board so you know whether to bring one. We had a lovely stay and will likely return at some point. Thanks so much Aidan and Eileen!

  • Cosy little cabin with all the amenities and right in the centre of Coachford. Eileen and Aidan were lovely hosts and helped me with every small request. They made sure the cabin was warm when I returned home after a long day! I highly recommend.

  • Lovely cabin and host! We were greeted as soon as we arrived to make sure we were comfortable and see if there was anything we needed. We had a rental car and found it to be the perfect location to easily travel around. We visited Kinsale, Blarney and Cork, all under an hour drive from the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and offered a calm and peaceful break for us in the middle of our trip.

  • Very solid accommodation in Coachford, and self-contained in the true sense of the word. I stayed for two nights and the location was perfect for me. Communication with Aidan was a breeze, and finding the place was very straightforward. The cabin was warm and quite cute inside. Would definitely recommend, particularly for a single or couple.

  • Having stayed in one of these lovely cabins for a week, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Spotless, comfortable and quiet. All facilities provided. One can come and go at any time of the day. So many extra facilities are available within minutes walking distance.Pleasant pub, supermarket, and even a great breakfast, nearby. The proprietor was pleasant and caring. Internet available, might have been a little better.Only 15 miles from Cork. Safe parking was no problem. I loved my stay.

  • Aidans place is great couldn't of ask for more. Beautiful cabins with everything you could want in them. I will definitely go back and can highly recommend adians cabins for a break away. Adian and his family are so warm and welcoming, and lots do see and do around the area itself.

  • My husband and I wanted to stay at Aidan's cabin but the dates we wanted to use didn't end up working out. Aidan was great in helping us cancel and refund our reservation on a last minute basis, within the same day. He is great with communication and making sure both parties are happy in a situation like this. Thanks again Aidan!

  • Very nice place. Serene, green and just lovely to be in.

  • Cian and Karina were very thoughtful, taking care of any questions or needs that came up, even preemptively warning us about a bad storm coming in, or letting us know a bit about the nearby town's amenities. The home is absolutely beautiful, exactly as in the pictures (except the sheep are a bit bigger), and the water is so clean (coming from the states, I'm not used to enjoying drinking from the tap). I would rent again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away for a while, I had stayed a month and visited Cork and surrounding points of interest.

  • Beautiful, clean studio with a very comfortable sofa, soft blankets and extra radiator for the cold season. Great for cooking - previous guests had left oil, salt, some herbs and a few non-perishable foods, and there were plenty of pans, a chopping board and the like. There's also a hair dryer. Cian was very helpful and responsive. The fridge can be slightly noisy at night - I was relaxed enough that it posed no problem at all for my sleep but you could bring ear plugs if you're a very light sleeper. I'll definitely be staying again.

  • Lovely peaceful place to relax after exploring the countryside right next to greenway and national rowing centre. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious with great showers and amenities. Mary went above and beyond to make feel at home during my stay. Next time I’m in the area I will definitely be booking here. Thanks for the great hospitality.

  • Fantastic host - genuine person and place and all that shows Irish people at their best !

    Martin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to come near Cork, stay in Mary's house! It is clean, you have space, beds are comfortable, there is nothing to change! We didn't meet the host, but she always gave us informations and ask for our installation. Moreover, Mary even asked us if we wanted to speak French with her (as we are French) so she is very helpfull!

    Hugo2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay. Everything you need for a restful stay in country setting. Mary is a super host and very kind and attentive . We arrived wet and tired on our motorcycle and left much relaxed . Thank you Mary.

  • Outstanding hospitality and amazing freedom in her house. Definitely 5 stars

    Łukasz2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • It is a perfect place to discover the area and relax. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is fantastic and everything is super clean. It leaves you tea and coffee, and some buns to start the day! Cool! In addition, most importantly, we accepted the reservation the same day :) The only thing is that if at night you want to go down to the Town Pub, you need a car yes or yes! All perfect. We would return without a doubt!

  • Me, my husband & our friend were “winging” it across Ireland. We made plans as we went. I came across these cabins in Coachford & asked if we could spend a few nights there. Quick to respond with a “yes”. We did have a hard time finding it, but mom came to meet us where we were & showed us were to go. The cabin is beautiful & clean. And mom is such a lovely lady. She even offered another night to us if we wanted, so we took her up on it. Great pubs just across the street & restaurants. Take aways for late night. Close to Cork. Blarney Castle. A nice drive through the country. And mom is right there for anything you need. Thank you for the great hospitality! Mom I won’t forget you!

  • Very friendly family. I ended up staying in their private apartment due to an accidental double booking. It was clean and comfortable. There are a couple of stores on the opposite side of the street, which was very convenient.

  • The location is perfect for spending time exploring Cork county. The beds are comfortable. Aiden is great on communicating with you on how to reach the cabins or on places to visit that meets the needs of the customers.

  • A lovely log cabin situated in Coachford, County Cork (about 20-30 mins from Cork City). The hosts are very welcoming and really helpful. The cabin provides you with everything you need for a self catering trip. The surrounding areas are beautiful, with green fields, lakes and a reservoir the backdrop.

  • Just back from a fab, relaxing break in Coachford. The cabins are gorgeous, spotlessly clean, cosy, warm & perfectly kitted out with everything you would need for a self-catering break. Aidan & Celia’s hospitality was the icing on the cake. They were prompt in communications, knowledgeable of the local area & super welcoming & friendly without being in your face. Lovely lovely people, can’t say enough about them! Coachford itself is a sleepy village, but there’s a shop right across the road which was all we needed to pick up stuff for breakfast & lunch. We were happy to spend time chilling in the cabin then travel into Macroom, Blarney etc. for dinner. We found it a good base for seeing lots of Cork as long as you’re comfortable driving on ‘country’ roads :-) Thanks for everything Aidan & Celia, keep up the good work!

  • I am so happy to have gotten the legit "Irish" experience. This has been by far the best Airbnb experience I have ever had! I was given tea and dessert on my arrival,my room was fully ready for me! I was even supplied with little treats throughout! Such an awesome couple and great family! To start off I rented a room, far enough from Cork that I could take day trips to other small towns and interesting spots! From the very beginning I had a rough beginning in Ireland, but Harriet and Des went above and beyond in helping me get the gps for my car, giving me ideas of what to do, they took me sight seeinga couple times too! Harriet and Des are the Irish parents I never had! They were respective and gracious hosts! They checked in with me to make sure all was good! I came to their house as a strangerand left feeling like family

  • If you are lucky enough to stay with Des and Harriet, be ready for the best advice on things to do in the area or a quiet rest in their delightful home. Not only did we have a private bath, but also a beautiful glass-paneled sitting room. From that room we were able to see their beautiful garden and the lake, We really didn't want to leave.

Great fishing nearby in the river Lee, national rowing center also located within 10 mins drive. 25 mins drive from Cork city, 15 mins to the Blarney stone. Easy access to West Cork and Kerry region, all reachable with day trips. Lots of great walks nearby. If you need “fast”WiFi, this is probably not the location for you. We are rural and not served by incredible internet speeds.
Lovely Garden and lots of space around. Lots of trees surrounding the property. Located on a farmyard, the house has recently been renovated.
Lovely countryside. If you love walking the roads are great for this. The Lee Valley is 3km away, where there is a lovely park (Farran Wood), and the National Rowing center.
  • Nice and cosy place and great host. Nice stay as usual.

    Lina2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is standard country style which was clean and comfortable, but what really made the stay 5 star was the hospitality. I have never been so well treated by a host! For those who want to experience Irish hospitality at its best, this is a great place to consider!

    Les2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for roaming around Cork. Very dog friendly house. Hosts were so friendly and more than helpful with their house just next door. Would definitely recommend this house.

Large Modern room in a country home 20 minutes from cork city, 45 minutes from Killarney and Gouganne Barra. This room has a smart television. Stunning house with ample space inside and out.
A large room with a smart television. A great base for exploring southern Ireland. Easy commuting between cork city, Gouganne Barra and Killarney.
This is a very quiet neighbourhood in the countryside. It is a very tranquil sanctuary and a fantastic respite from the hustle and bustle of towns and cities but within easy commute of Cork city and Killarney.
  • I have previously stayed at Deirdre's place, and was very happy to return. It is a modern and well maintained house and she is a great host with a very welcoming and friendly manner, who will always go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

    Michael2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • My big sister and I stayed 3 nights with Deirdre and her whole family. it was a really wonderful time! The house is very clean, the pets are incredibly sweet and the family is very hospitable and warmhearted. From them we also got very good recommendations for places of interest. We really had the best time with them in Cork. The house is a bit remote, but because we were there with a car, it was no problem at all. Besides, there'd have to be buses. We would book a room at Deirdre at any time again and can recommend this to others.

    Raquel2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean spacious room. Deidre couldn’t have been more helpful cleared some space in her fridge for me to store my lunches. All in all if I’m back in the area will stay again.

    David2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and real Irish experience at this place. We only have excellents words about our days at Deirdre´s house. She is a perfect host. Always with a smile and very good to talk with about anything. Tim is also very nice but we could not spend much time with him. Our kids were really confortable at this house and we recomend this place to all people interested in that área of Ireland. This is the perfect house to rest and disconnect after a nice whole day of tourism. If we come back there, we Will stay there again for sure.

    Inigo2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre was a perfect host in a perfect house, very easy to talk to and very helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here. 10/10

    Michael2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to life the real irish country life, you should definitely book at leasr a week in a room in Deirdre's house. Deirdre has a fantastic family and is a very intelligent and talkative host. Beside that, she gives a lot of suggestions regarding the local amenities. Indispensable to have a care, since the place is not serviced very well by means of public transportation. I was treated as a member of the family, they are very kind and collaborative. I suggest this place!

    Alfredo2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Deirdres house was great, she and her family are really lovable people! The house and the whole area is gorgeous! Deirdre and her family members were very helpful at everything and played with the children, we loved to stay there and the next time in this area we would like to be there again!

    Niki2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre's house is very comfortable and modern. It is very well located, next to Macroon, ideal for visiting the counties of Cork and Kerry. The family is lovely and Deirdre a perfect hostess, great conversationalist and super attentive throughout. The room was very large and comfortable and the breakfast fantastic and exquisite. The house is recommended 100%. If I go back through that area I will not hesitate to return to their home because they welcomed me as if I were one of the family. An unforgettable experience during the 6 nights I spent with them.

  • Mary’s home was mine and my husband’s absolutely favorite stay in Ireland and will be one of our best memories we will keep of Ireland, forever. Her boys are around our age and were home for a celebration, we spent hours in their kitchen with them exchanging stories, laughing and having tea and “buns” until we were all way too tired to stay up any longer. Mary and her family were so welcoming and we were honestly sad to be leaving already, however they had great recommendations to some close by castles on our way out to Kilkenny, and have been our favorite experiences so far! 1000% recommend!

  • Picturesque quiet location

    Maggie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is off the beaten track but it’s a perfect location for what we needed. I was confused about where the place was and unless you know that post codes take you directly to the location then you would have been lost. We had to match up a picture to the location. In the shower it looked like the previous people had left random items from their stay, and I wasn’t sure if they were for us to use or left, which was the only thing that made me wonder. The place was immaculate, welcoming and the host was extremely friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. Easy to connect to WiFi and the whole process was AMAZING with the host. We would definitely recommend and go back on our next trip!!

  • We booked on really short notice, so when we arrived no one was home - but Mary's son let us in after a short wait and then everything was perfect. Everybody was absolutely friendly, including the dogs. Although Mary had to work both days of our stay, she made sure we had everything we needed and she gave us tips for exploring in the evening.

Welcome to The Gate Lodge, Killinardrish. Set in the beautiful Lee Valley in County Cork, the Gate Lodge is a 19th Century gate lodge to Killinardrish House, overlooking the historic Carrigadrohid Castle and the River Lee. This is an ideal, tranquil spot to relax and use as a base from which to explore the South West of Ireland, Cork City, Blarney Castle and Gardens and the Wild Atlantic Way coastline of Cork and Kerry
The Gate Lodge is a four bedroom cottage opposite the gates of Killinardrish House. It is ideal for 6 guests but can accommodate up to 8 in three double rooms and one twin. The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and the remaining three bedrooms share the second bathroom. Two bedrooms are on ground floor level and are suitable for guests who have difficulty with stairs. The master bedroom and the twin bedroom are at the lower garden level, both with doors opening directly onto the patio garden at the rear of the house. A cot bed can also be provided on request. The Gate Lodge has a fully-fitted kitchen with an Aga, sitting room with an open fireplace and a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Breakfast ingredients including freshly-baked bread and home-made jams will be provided for you to prepare for yourselves in the kitchen. At the back of the house, there is a small private patio garden overlooking the river Lee.

The Gate Lodge is located on a route popular with cyclists touring south west Ireland.
  • Belinda was incredibly hospitable! We arrived to find the fridge stocked with food for breakfast and fresh bread and jams along with apples from her trees. She was fantastic about staying in touch and making sure you have everything you need. The place was perfect for our group and the surrounding castle and grounds were stunning. It felt like we stepped back in time into a fairytale. Highly recommend staying here!

    Debbie2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The kitchen was our favorite room, warm and cozy. The AGA stove is fun to cook on. It was so nice to have homemade muffins, jam and bread when we arrived. Also the fresh apples and eggs were appreciated. We made a yummy apple crumble with Belinda’s apples. The Master Suite exceeded expectations. Walk out to the garden was great. Having a vanity was a nice touch. Bed was very comfortable. Heated towel rack was a luxury. Laundry room was a god send especially on the tail end of a three week trip. We really appreciated the tips and help for things to do in area. Belinda was really responsive to any and all questions before and during the visit. The location is very central for many day trips. Recommendations for Macroom and Cork were very helpful for eating locations. We would highly recommend staying here. It was great.

    Lynn2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely home is well situated for day trips to Killarney National Park, Cobh and Kinsale. It is roomy and comfortable with French doors from the master bedroom to a beautiful private patio. Belinda provided wonderful extras to make the place feel especially welcoming: fresh flowers, coffee, eggs, soda bread and delicious Irish butter!

    Kathy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • You will find a charming, comfortable, amenity-filled home in a beautiful setting amongst stone walls, running stream and a old castle next door. Small roads lead you to this country setting where you can wander through flower and tree filled roads and foot paths. This one is not to be missed!

    Cyndee2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Gate Lodge is a lovely home in a beautiful setting. Very spacious, and Belinda was kind enough to leave us homemade bread and scones, and raspberry jam, delicious! Also all the basics were provided, oil, vinegar, milk, butter and eggs. There are so many things to do in the area, we wished we had more time, but what we did have was wonderful! Belinda’s husband met us on arrival and gave us some history of the house, local tips and a warm welcome. Something to be aware of is our (UK) phones had no coverage; something we’ve found to be common in Ireland, so if you use your phone for mapping be aware, and check it out ahead of time so you don’t get stranded.

    Shelley2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We have just spent the most idyllic week in Ireland. The Lodge was spotless on arrival and the home made muffins, bread and jam were so welcome after a long day's drive. Belinda was a perfect host, cheerful and very knowledgeable about the area. We took all her suggestions for trips out and evening meals, and everything was superb. We particularly liked Toon Bridge Dairy pizzeria and the Bulman Bar in Kinsale for its excellent seafood. We walked the dogs every morning and evening on a private wooded path by the River Lee; the perfect start and end to the day. An amazing place and we will certainly return.

    Georgina2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great place, we loved staying there. Very clean and Belinda was easy to contact. We would love to come again!

    Izzi2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional, beautiful, stylish, comfortable and peaceful. Gate Lodge really is the perfect place to retreat to after enjoying everything locally and a little further afield. The bridge and castle directly outside are captivating, with the green space on the other side of the bridge, beside the river being the perfect spot for a picnic, or a place to sit and contemplate. Belinda's attention to detail really is spot on! The gorgeous creamy local butter and homemade bread really set you up for the day, along with all the other breakfast items included. I couldn't recommend Gate Lodge highly enough, really absolutely first class.

Beautiful setting next to Inniscara Reservoir, Carrigadrohid pub and shop within walking distance. Close to Macroom, the National Rowing Centre, Farran Country Park.
Lovely living room and kitchen diner on ground floor. 2 downstairs bedrooms, one with en suite. 2 upstairs bedrooms. One twin with en-suite WC and basin and one double with balcony overlooking the lake. Family bathroom upstairs.
This is a peaceful, calm location. Lovely for walks, fishing, painting, cycling. Very restful. • Local Amenities o Carrigadrohid Local shop (very good…all sorts of things you wouldn’t expect are stocked), Post Office, Pub (they do Sky for big football matches and the like and you can walk home – but mind the cars late at night!!), petrol, phone. o Coachford Bigger local Centra supermarket with ATM, a few pubs – two do breakfast. o Macroom Decent supermarkets. We use Dunnes because there is a car park in front of it – and Aldi next door. Loads of pubs…good food and sometimes live folk music in the bar at the Castle Hotel, films and other shows at The Briery Gap. The Auld Triangle which is on the N22 the other side of Macroom does very good food, either bar or restaurant. They are great with children too. Granvilles by the Castle Demesne do lovely food. There are a few pubs with late licenses which have bands and dances/ discos. There is a childrens playground in Macroom. Driving in from the house turn left after Spar supermarket, drive past the church and follow the road right. The park is on the right. Parking is available there and there is a great view across Macroom and beyond. Note that children can be taken anywhere including pubs in our experience. To park in Macroom you need to pay for parking. Please check the requirements, they change regularly. You can hire cycles in Macroom. o For Churches, Caum (on the way to Macroom) and Canovee (over the bridge at Carrigadrohid) both have Mass at 10am on Sundays. Macroom is at 9am and 10.30am we think…please check o Golf courses are located at Macroom and Lee Valley. Macroom Golf course is through the old Castle arch on the Main Square, follow the road to the Club House. Lee Valley Golf Course is located between Macroom and Cork. You can get there by turning right at Coachford and following signs first for Farran then for the Golf Club. o Angling For coarse fishing you are spoilt for choice. To fish the reservoir you need a permit. Tackle and permits are available in Macroom but the best place is probably Rivers Edge which is on the road from Cork to the house. It is about 12 miles from the house near the turning onto the N22. Basically drive towards Cork from the house and the House and shop are on your right on the other side of Iniscarra. o Cork has all the shops and amenities you could wish for. It is also very pretty in places and has a good feel. There are often Festivals on. o Shopping – Please note that there is a tax on carrier bags in Ireland for environmental reasons. There is a stock of long life and other carrier bags in the cupboard above the oven. Use them but please replace them. Additional bags always welcome. • Our Favourite places to visit o The Tourist office in Macroom is situated in the Main Square opposite the castle entrance. They will tell you what is happening while you are there. o Farran County Park A good place for a walk away from roads etc. There is an assault course type variety of play equipment..we don’t know what age they are aimed at but too high for 5 year olds and great fun for adults. There are also some deer, ducks and other animals. The country park is about 15 minutes drive from the house, drive to Coachford and turn right in the centre, cross the bridge over the Lee following signs to Farran. Now Ziit operate there! https://www.zipit.ie/locations/farran-wood Ballyhass Water Park - 10 minutes from the house! https://www.ballyhass.ie/coachford/ o Killarney You can do a small ring round Killarney lakes via Muckross, Ladies View and on to Kenmare in a day, stop for lunch in Kenmare and then amble back. Killarneys lakes and valleys are beautiful. Killarney town itself is quite touristy but has lots of places to eat, drink and shop. o Kinsale A lovely old town on the sea with a great reputation for food. Very pretty, home to a number of food and sailing festivals. To reach Kinsale you go towards Cork, onto the South Ring and follow signs. It is a day trip. o Glengarrif and Garinish Island Beautiful island of gardens reached by boat. You pass seals on islands on the bay. Very romantic and peaceful. Some restaurants and pubs on the mainland. o Gougane Barra Beautiful small county park with lakes and mountains like a compressed Killarney. On the way to Glengarrif and Bantry. o Inchidoney The beach!!! You never know, the weather could be fabulous! Lovely sandy beach. Car Park near the hotel. WC only – not even a pub- so bring your own lunch etc! o Carrigadrohid There is a castle in Carrigadrohid which is on the bridge towards Canovee. You can walk from the house and go on the way to the pub. The history is published on a nearby sign…there are lovely walks along the river bank next to the Castle aswell. If you follow the river upstream you reach the Carrigadrohid hydroelectric dam…the whole reason that the valley is now flooded and that the waterlevel changes so much. The castle does not look safe – so be careful! o Blarney Castle, lovely grounds and of course the Blarney stone. Blarney also has a good woollen mills. Dingle – takes a good day for a visit, worthy of an overnight stop over if you have time. There is a new walking/running route in Coachford along the river. 2.5km long, opposite the National Rowing Centre at Farran. Follow the directions for Farran above, take a left before you cross the bridge over the river. 5km Parkrun 9.30am Saturdays in Macroom starting in the Castle Demesne. There are places to hire boats along the river.
  • Myself, my two sisters & my cousin are just back from a 3 night stay in this air B&B. Ann was so friendly & easy to contact. She allowed me to bring along my two dogs which was amazing. • Friendly helpful hosts, a large clean modern apartment and a very peaceful rural environment. The kingsize bed and the washing machine were a big plus. A car is essential but it’s only a few minutes to the local village amenities. A very pleasant place to stay.

High quality accommodation steeped in history and character. Full of light and open spaces, it is situated between Macroom and Coachford in the heart of the countryside. Our farmhouse is the perfect sanctuary, a place to unwind with family and friends, but is also located less than an hour's drive away from many of Cork and Kerry's most popular tourist attractions including Killarney, Cork City and Blarney Castle. We are also ten minutes away from Ballyhass Lakes Coachford and Zip It Farran.
The Farmhouse at Laharn Dairy Farm has been the homestead of three generations of an Irish farming family for the past 100 years. Now it has been lovingly refurbished by a member of that family, who lives nearby with his own wife and children. The original stone walls - previously covered with timber panelling - have been restored and beautifully finished with cork insulation and lime plaster. Underfloor heating gives the space a warm and welcoming feel all year round. Ultra-modern facilities and lighting blend seamlessly with the quirky, old-style look of the house.
This house is set on a south facing hill with incredible views of a patchwork of green fields laid out across the valley. It is a peaceful and tranquil place. There are lots of walks and leafy lanes to explore around the area. No gridlock or noise pollution here!
  • I showed up to a house with a fire already crackling. On top of that, when I couldn't find a pub that had live music my host offered to have his kids play. First class from start to finish and you'd be crazy not to stay here. Absolute heaven!! Grazie!!

  • We hosted a beautiful Christmas week for our family at Ger & Grett's cottage. It is a lovely cosy and relaxing place to spend a few days. All the facilities are in good working order - particularly enjoyed using the professional gas oven. All the personal touches were a lovely addition - particularly the fresh farm eggs. The cottage is annexed to the family home by 2 adjoining internal doors. The front of the property is overlooked by the family home. We would definitely consider another stay here in the future.

  • Can’t say enough good things about my stay here. Hosts were absolutely amazing with anything from tourism tips to just how day to day things worked in Ireland which is a big help for a foreigner. Simply great people. Communication was superior, never waited for a reply email or text. The farmhouse was absolutely perfect, the idealistic cozy country stay from the fireplace to the incredible views over the valley out front but with all the modern amenities you sometimes don’t find at Air B&Bs like separate laundry. All this on a working farm complete with a few chickens wandering a around. The location is great, off the main highway which adds to its peaceful setting, but only a 10-15 min drive to Macroom which is a pleasant town with everything you need. 45 mins to the city of Cork and airport. This will absolutely be my first choice when I return to the area someday.

  • Our stay at Lahern Dairy was wonderful, but alas, too brief. Ger and Grett were more than gracious hosts. We were greeted with homemade bread and butter as well as fresh milk from their cows. The farm is lovely, with bucolic views as far as the eye can see. The entire cottage is beautifully appointed with kitchen and sitting room providing a warm hygge experience. Both bedrooms had comfortable beds and bedding. It was also great to have a full bathroom dedicated to each bedroom. My only regret was not having more time to walk the farm and enjoy the countryside. I would love to have another opportunity to visit Lahern Dairy again someday. Thank you Ger, Grett and Family!

  • Super house surrounded by nature, great views and quiet area. Interior is stylish with nice touches for guests to enjoy. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Lovely hosts. Highly recommend.

  • Only problem I see with reviewing your place is there are not enough stars to do this place justice! Best ever AirBNB!!! We did NOT want to leave - awesome hosts and fantastic place. Beautiful rolling green hills are situated right outside your front door, and the farmhouse that we stayed in was steeped in history and was restored beautifully. Delicious homemade bread and fresh milk/butter/cream from the host’s dairy were provided for breakfast. We woke up (kind of) early and went to tour the dairy, so cool! Just cannot write enough good things about this family or their beautiful farm. Give yourself a vacation of your lifetime and BOOK NOW! Sadly we only booked one night / do not make that mistake - stay as long as you can! Thank you Ger - you and your family are PRECIOUS! Jess may get to come back over during her study abroad time - put her to work! Love you guys! Thank you so much.

  • Gerard's place is by far the most unique Airbnb experience we ever had. We loved the house uniqueness and its location. Gerard and his family are amazing hosts, very attentive, friendly and talented. During our stay we were gifted with fresh dairy and bread from their local farm, making our visit even more welcoming. You will feel connected to the nature and will find the rest you've been looking for. We couldn't recommend his place enough. Warmest regards, Gabriel and Jessica

  • Ger and Grett's barn is absolutely beautiful! We had a fantastic long weekend exploring the location. Ger is so welcoming and the area beautiful. There is nothing I could say that needs to be done to improve it! Don't bother looking elsewhere.... thank you again Ger and Grett!

  • We loved staying with Mary and Connor!! They were so good to us while we were there. They're very personable and helpful with everything!the first night we got in Mary called around and got us a spot for dinner. Everything was busy as we came in the weekend before Christmas and we greatly appreciated her help finding something. They had toys for my little niece and sweets and breakfast stuff for the rest of us. Outstanding hospitality as well as local tips on places to get dinner. I personally loved coming in after a full day of exploring the area to a lovely wood fire. It was so cozy and just perfect.

    Rachel2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible stay! Mary and Connor were so warm and hospitable, and their home is absolutely beautiful. Felt very at home! Definitely recommend this stay.

    Kahli2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is the queen of hospitality! On a stormy night, we made our way to Mary’s home for our stay. The storm was aggressive that night and it was barely clear enough for us to see. When we finally arrived and opened the doors to Mary’s home we immediately felt the feeling of being “home”. The living room with the fireplace was perfect for us on that chilly night and we helped ourselves to the cookies Mary left us and the yummy coffee and tea. In the morning Mary was very helpful as she gave us tips for the rest of our trip and was so kind in preparing a kettle of warm water for our morning cup of joe. I cannot express how hospitable she truly is!!

    Karen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay. The rooms were very spacious and we had an en suite. It was lovely to sit by the fire at night in the sitting room. Mary is extremely kind and helpful - would highly recommend!

  • Great place and even better host! Micheal was really helpful and gave us lots of tips about places to visit.

  • Michéal and Catherine's cottage is the perfect place to stay near Macroom. I was working in the area for a few days and I felt perfectly comfortable and relaxed here. They are both really lovely people and it was a pleasure to meet them. They left me fresh home cooked bread and fresh eggs from their chickens. The house itself is cosy, spotlessly clean and has everything you could need, it is also situated in a beautiful part of the countryside with lots of lovely walks near by. I'd love to stay here again!

    Camille2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely rural setting. Not v easy to find but Michael was at hand on the phone. You will need a car..it's not near a town...but this makes for a perfect off the beaten track location. Very beautiful and tranquil

    Steve2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment very clean, functional and very well equipped. Micheal and Catherine are unparalleled hosts full of attentions: eggs from the hen house, cupcakes, enough to make a breakfast on our arrival. Place that we recommend for a relaxing holiday.

    Sandrine2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start? Well the location was great for Cork, Killarney National Park, Ring of Kerry, and the Dingle Peninsula. The place was perfect for a couple with a ton of character and amenities you don’t find every where. Micheal and his Wife were so sweet and kind. Giving us a wonderful supply of local goods to last us until we could get to a grocery. I feel like this is a hidden gem. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to experience the south region of Ireland!

    Adam2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place tucked away down a Country lane. Good for exploring Kerry, Beara and Cork

    Natana2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's a studio apartment, but the bed space is separated, and it provides a larger space than you think. Occasionally, water is assumed to be soft water and requires attention. If you stay in the cold season, you can stay warmer if you ask the host to increase the heating time.

    Jung Ook2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The home was very nice and clean and was exactly what the description stated. We had no issues check in and out was easy. Micheal has a lovely home!
