Welcome to Studio on Burgess - a stylishly appointed, comfortable one bedroom studio with lounge area, small kitchenette and main bathroom. The studio enjoys its own private deck and garden area to relax as well as off street parking, with separate access from a main house, so you can come and go as you please. Ideally located with many of the towns attractions only minutes walk away including the town centre and its many eateries and shops, Bicheno blow hole and picturesque Rice Pebble Beach.
The studio is well appointed with a queen bed, comfortable sofa and soft furnishings to help you relax during your stay. Take advantage of the kitchenette area which has all the essentials you will need including a microwave, bar fridge, toaster and kettle with tea and coffee provisions including small milk to get you started and a Nespresso machine with some pods. It also has cutlery and crockery if you to make your own breakfast or fix a quick snack during the day. Relax in the light-filled small lounge area with access to a TV or on the outdoor deck, which has table and chairs for you to lap up the sun, reading one of the great selection of books available, or enjoy a cheese platter in the afternoon with a local bottle of wine. The main bathroom, separate from the bedroom living area has a shower over a bath as well as a toilet. We use a professional linen and cleaning service to ensure a comfortable stay with bathroom towels also provided. The studio has a clothes line to hang up your beach towels or wet bathers from a day at one of the many beaches in and around Bicheno.
You are never far away from where you want to be, with many of Bicheno's main attractions all within short strolling distance from the Studio. The town, less than 500m away has many local shops and eateries that will cater to all tastes. Some of our favourites include a morning coffee with delicious choice of fresh pastries cooked daily from Little Bay Patisserie or an award-winning scallop pie from the Blue Edge Bakery, worth a trip on their own. Whalers lookout offers a spectacular panoramic view of Bicheno town and the crystal clear and inviting waters of Waub’s Bay Beach –less than 10 minutes’ walk away. The famous Bicheno blowhole and exclusive and serene Rice Pebble Beach are tantalisingly nearby as is the picturesque gulch where you can watch the boats unload their fresh catch and grab a feed of fresh local seafood at the Lobster Shack.
  • Great place to stay in a beautiful part of the world!!! Mark is very helpful and provided lots of tips on what to do in the area. Would definitely love to come again.

  • Mark place was clean, stylish and perfect for a little weekend away! The place had everything you needed and was a short 2 min drive to shops and beach. Was also a quick drive to coles bay and Freycinet national park. Mark left several suggestions for things to do in the area. Lovely home and would definitely stay again! Bed also very comfortable, a win!!

  • Great location 10 minutes to the sea (bicheno blowhole) by foot. Very nice accomodation with everything you need. Located in the garden of a bigger guesthouse. Very quiet and peaceful, we enjoyed our stay.

  • Great little studio. Very comfortable and clean. Big sliding door allows good ventilation. Would stay there again. The host provides plenty of details about Bicheno and responds to emails promptly. The property was very clean.

  • Big thanks to Mark for having us. Very happy with our decision to stay at Mark’s place while in Bicheno. Great location, can see the water from the deck of the studio, and a few minutes walk to blowhole. The place was incredibly clean and had everything we could ask for. The bed was also extremely comfortable and easily the best bed we have slept in in an airbnb. Mark’s communication was also amazing and something we very much appreciated. Highly recommend to anyone looking to spend a night or two in Bicheno!

'Number 10' is a rustic, little-bit-retro, stand-alone, private space for two. It adjoins the main house and enjoys ocean and garden views. A short flight of stairs leads to a sunny bedroom and area with fridge and microwave (but not a full kitchen!), and bathroom. There's also a deck for brekky or Happy Hour. Breakfast is included. The Blowhole is 200 metres away for evening penguin viewing, and sunrise/sunset photos. The beach, walking tracks, great restaurants and facilities close by too.
'Number 10' is a modest studio and a rustic space - it has its idiocyncrasies and is not like a modern hotel room. The main cottage was built in the 1950s and 'Number 10' adjoins the cottage and is UPSTAIRS of the old garage (now a storage area). Despite its simplicity, it is conveniently located and in close proximity to the township and offers a great location for penguin viewing at the Blowhole - just a few minutes walk to the end of Douglas Street. The Gulch (harbour) is very close where you can meander along part of the coast walk and then perhaps hop aboard the Glass Bottom Boat, or enjoy fish and chips overlooking Governor's island at either of the two popular fish and chip shops - the Lobster Shack, or at Coastal Seafoods at the Wharf. No. 10 is also very close to beautiful local beaches. And there are views over the ocean where you might spot a Southern Right, a Humpback, or an Orca during different times of the year. For a quiet bush walk there is a leafy bush track behind 'Number 10' which leads up to the Big Rock and down onto the main road. It is great for bird watching and good for orchid spotting in October/November.
Bicheno is a great place to stay as a base for your east coast adventures. It is only 40 minutes away from Freycinet National Park and less to the Douglas Apsley park. Picturesque with beautiful walks and beaches and national parks nearby, Bicheno is also a vibrant village with a choice of cafes, Chinese restaurants and specialist seafood eateries. There is a large IGA for your esentials and also a growing Sunday market. We have penguins and abundant wildlife, and as well as the usual water activities such as swimmimg and surfing, you can enjoy a visit to East Coast Natureworld, the Glass Bottom Boat, Devils in the Dark and the Motorcycle Museum. We also have the Bicheno Farm Shed for wine tasting and, only a short drive away, award winning wineries which offer tastings and a variety of food choices. Special music events happen on a regular basis and the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival is a must in November.
  • Great spot and amazing sunrise views

  • We would recommend Lee's place. It's light filled, ocean views and walking distance to town. Lee was a lovely host and cooked us a delicious breakfast. We'd come back.

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. Close to the blowhole and the Gulch with sea views. Outstanding breakfast provided of omelette and muffins etc. delicious. Lee is a wonderful host!

    Pam2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is such a lovely warm host and her bnb is such a gem in an excellent location. It's spotless with lovely sea views, lots of home comforts and an awesome cooked breakfast by Lee. We could only stay 1 night this time, but very keen to stay again.

    Jan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is an exceptional host. Very cosy studio and the breakfasts are fantastic. We highly recommend this studio to anyone coming to this area.

    Ollie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cozy little spot close to everything you need. We spent days at the wineries nearby and day trips to the national park to do the hikes. Lee’s place was the perfect spot right in the middle to come back to and relax. Views out both sides to the ocean in a light filled room, the photos don’t quite do it justice. Lee was a fantastic host, one of the best omelettes we have ever had for breaky and she even let us borrow a little backpack for the hike. Thanks Lee, if we are ever in Tassie again we will be back!

    Grace2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all around the world and Lee’s studio in Bicheno was by far the best experience. Lee is the loveliest host and made us feel right at home, we didn’t want to leave. Her breakfasts are excellent but we would have enjoyed the stay regardless. The studio has everything you need and amazing views over the sea and town (you can see the blowhole from the window). Lots of thoughtful touches too like a kettle, fridge, kitchen items and fully decorated space - it felt homely straight away. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the East Coast!

    Nick & Jess2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is a great host, friendly and helpful with local tips. The rustic accomodation is roomy and very comfortable. It is free standing and up a small flight of stairs. It has great views of the bay, and is so close to blowhole and potential fairy penguin sighting. Lee spoilt us with lovely cooked breakfasts using plenty of fresh produce.

  • Great host, location and accommodation. Would definitely recommend Emelie's place!

    Natalie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Emelie’s place was wonderful. It’s very cosy and well decorated, you directly feel at home. Bicheno is such a lovely town with nice small shops and cool atmosphere, I just loved it! The house is walking distance from supermarket, shops, pizza restaurant... and even from the beach where we could see an amazing sunset and penguins (thanks to Emelie’s tips). Was perfectly clean and it’s super easy to check in. I highly recommend this place !

    Elise2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The home is basic, but the location is fantastic. Right on the ocean and a 10 minute drive to Freycinet Park. The continental breakfast provided is very handy as there are not many places around to get food. It was. Great spot to land inbetween hikes.

    Brea2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location with easy access to coastal tidal walk with private space and well equipped facilities and friendly hosts. Wish we could stay longer

    Grahame2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This comfortable spot is right on the beach and quite close to the National Park entrance. A car is essential . We parked our car on the street though there is parking on site - on the street was easier and there is very little difference in the distance to walk. Ideal for those who like to fish. A bit too cold for us to swim. The unit is stocked with a toaster and electric BBQ and microwave as well as cereal, bread (in freezer), jams, butter and juice. 4 rooms - bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge with tv. No wifi. If you want to self- cater, best to buy supplies before arrival at Coles Bay. There are a couple of small supermarkets and eateries within a short driving distance.

  • Thanks Kate for being so thoughtful and kind. 👍 Thank you for leaving the litre of milk, fresh eggs and yummy bread. My husband cooked us eggs on toast for our breakfast. The chocolates were a nice surprise too and we ate them with a cuppa after a long drive down to to Bicheno. 👍😊 Warm regards Dee Macsok

    Diedre2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Bicheno was beautiful. Kate and Mark's place is great and so close to everything. We did a penguin tour and had pizza at the local woodfired pizzaria. Great stay! Five stars.

    Ben2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, stylish guesthouse with everything you could need for a few days in Tassie!

    Kieks2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was exactly as described. It was very clean and cosy and the bathroom had an extra large shower which was great. The location was in a very quiet neighbourhood and perfect to explore Freycinet NP. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare breakfast or a simple meal, the only thing missing was a small sharp knife. The eggs, bread and milk provided for breakfast were a much appreciated extra. Overall a great stay and we'd definitely book again!

    Anja2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The studio apartment was perfect for our short stay in Bicheno and so close to the penguin tour we had booked that we walked there.

    Geoff2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in Bicheno and in Kate’s studio apartment. The pictures are accurate. The parking space is convenient, being right in front of the apartment. Very clean, quiet, private and comfortable space. We used the kitchen for breakfasts and sandwiches and had all we needed. She left some breakfast food and chocolates. Which was great. We stayed 2 nights and I wish we would of stayed longer. I think it is a convenient spot to explore the area. The blowhole is nearby and the lichen covered rocks look like the Bay of Fires. One think we did not take into account was that the restaurants close by 7-8pm, so plan accordingly. The bed was harder than I like but my husband thought it was great. The bathroom is very spacious and the shower has good water pressure and plentiful hot water, there is also a heated towel drying rack. Kate was quick and easy to communicate with. We did not have the pleasure of meeting her. I would stay again. Enjoy.

  • At first I thought it was a disappointment to be located in the pictorial wasteland that is developing Swanwick, away from Coles Bay, but the amenities and view transcended back blocks Swanwick. Ultra modern amenities, and the visuals from the beach, only several hundred metres away, overlooking the Swan River mouth and Dolphin Sound, are magnificent. Stunning sunset, with great photos for memories.

    Evan2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super stylish house with an excellent view in a private setting to relax. We particularly enjoyed the lounge room as it had a contemporary design and the television was well equipped with our favourite movie streaming app. Also very happy with the service we received when we had an issue. Will likely stay again!

  • Sally’s place exceeded our expectations, not that we were expecting anything bad. Amazing value for money, we were just a couple but I think this would be awesome for family or a group of friends as there were plenty of room. The big kitchen was very much appreciated. Lots of nice touches around the house. No wifi but we didn’t really miss it. Only a few minutes drive to Bicheno, nice little town with a decent IGA if you decide to cook. We would highly recommend staying here if you’re already thinking about it!

    Éric2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This one is perfectly located next to a organic cafe and walk to anything you will need - including the best fish and chips in a idyllic gulch that reminds me of Wes Anderson film with the right fishing boat at bay. Recommend!

  • Great place for two people. It is close to Freycinet national park and the local oyster farm. Check in and check out was simple and straight forward. If you have a car, plenty of parking space available. Will visit again soon and definitely recommend to those looking to get away to a cosy space.

  • A great base for exploring Freycinet. It was clean, secluded, and true to the description. Around a 10 min drive to the national park, Friendly beaches, and Coles Bay. I had an extremely comfortable stay here. Thank you!

The Boathouse is set on seven acres of foreshore bushland with spectacular ocean views. The only sound you will hear at Hideaway is the crash of waves on the rocks below and the wildlife. The Boathouse includes three bedrooms, two with ensuites. A King size bed in the master bedroom overlooks the foreshore and the garden. It also has its own bathroom and shower. A spacious living area leads onto the deck with outside seating and BBQ. A kitchen comprises a five burner gas stove and dishwasher.
Decorated in a maritime style, and showcasing original Tasmanian artwork, the Boathouse with its privacy, woodburning stove for winter nights, star gazing from the deck, plus whale watching in season, provides a perfect sanctuary away from the stresses of everyday life.
  • A wonderful space for a group to visit. Very comfortable living space and loved the wood fire. The very close access to the ocean was a real asset - very dramatic waves when we were there.

    Sophie2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a special oasis!!! We just spent 3 incredibly romantic days at Nick & Arabella'a oasis, and we simply feel privileged!!! Immediately felt at home, what a beautiful house or better a palace! We loved sitting on the deck watching the wildlife, wandering around, enjoying the beaches. This was an absolute highlight of our honeymoon through Australia, so memorable!!! We have never seen so many stars anywhere before... truly amazing! Nick and Arabella are totally kind, warm-hearted and uncomplicated people, thank you so much for having us!!

    Zsuzsanna2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house and location. One of the best Airbnb's out there.

    Ian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Such a great place to stay- peaceful, stylish, cosy, really spacious and unusual- a half an hour drive to Freycinet where the scenery is unbelievable. Bring warm clothes and slippers!

    Hattie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A quirky, funky house set at the water's edge so sleeping to the sound of waves breaking on the rocks was wonderful. It's a spacious house that we found very comfortable and had everything we needed - it's much bigger than it looks in the photographs. Bicheno is close by for meals out or to buy for meals in. The area is gorgeous with much to see and do. The house is perfect as a getaway to unwind and relax with a good book. There are many thoughtful touches - wood delivered every day to the front doorstep when it's chilly and eggs if the hens are laying. Nicholas and Arabella are attentive hosts who are there if we needed them but otherwise left us alone. Our friends from the UK were thrilled to meet the local Wallaby residents and the odd echidna waddling by. Sadly, we didn't see the possums or peacocks this time but there's lots of wildlife to keep everyone entertained.

    Roberta2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is one of a kind. My partner and I had it all to ourselves. We drank wine on the balcony whilst enjoying watching the local wild life around us. Sauntered an easy 30 meters to the ocean and jumped in. Had a relaxing bath and slept like babies. Such a stunning place and more bang for your buck. Could not recommend enough.

    Pearl2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Boathouse, which was a lot bigger than we expected. It’s an incredible location with some of the best rocks on the coast we’ve ever explored, just metres from the deck.

    Ben2020-01-30T00:00:00Z

  • An amazing perch to a stunning coastal view, short stroll to the beach, and to top off, a wonderfully furnished cosy home. Perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

    Shuh2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • There are not many Airbnb places in this category of wow. The place is basically new, the location is unbeatable for the beach / ocean view and closeness to everything you want to do, the amenities are first class and in general you will not want to leave. The architecture is novel with living in one pod and sleeping in the other with a breezeway in between. We liked that, be aware that when it’s windy you will know it as it’s elevated with nothing between you and the beach. If there’s a better view from a main bedroom (same as the living room) tell me where please. We would go back for sure and honestly didn’t want to leave.

  • May’s place was fantastic. In a great location, clean and everything we wanted for a short stay. May was quick to respond, met us when we arrived and gave plenty of great local tips. She gave a few nice provisions for breakfast and was a super host. Would certainly recommend her place and stay again.

Lovely thoughtful touches of home baked sweets, prepared breakfasts in the fridge, very knowledgeable of the local region and happy to recommend places to go and things to see (she is very supportive of and loves her local community). I would highly recommend staying in May’s Airbnb!

Bayview Bicheno is a new 28 sqm self-contained studio with sweeping, uninterrupted ocean, bush and mountain views. It is on a 6-acre block just 4kms from Bicheno - a great base for exploring east-coast attractions. The studio faces due north, so it is warm in winter and cool in summer. It has a private entrance and includes all the things we like when we travel ourselves. We live upstairs and help you settle in: however, we won't intrude on your privacy. Relax and enjoy the sun and the stars.
The studio has expansive views from glass sliding doors, fixed panels and windows. You can even relax in bed and look out directly at the ocean and mountains. There is a 5 sqm north-facing deck, under-cover parking, and a private entrance. The space includes a queen-size bed (with Tempur bed-topper, and good reading lamps); a well-equipped kitchenette (with sink, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, two electric hot plates, electric frypan, electric wok, electric rice cooker); an en-suite bathroom (with shower, toilet, vanity, washing machine, dryer); a reverse-cycle air-conditioner; and a flat-screen TV and DVD player (with a selection of DVDs). Guests who wish to sun-dry clothes/beach towels can use a private clothesline located just outside the studio space. Cooked breakfast is not included, but we do provide some basic breakfast-type items (milk, coffee, tea, muesli, fruit, eggs, butter). Since people have widely-differing tastes in bread, we ask that you bring your own bread. The kitchenette also includes other basic items such as salt, pepper, spices, olive oil, soy sauce etc. Free Wi-fi is available, but please note a maximum usage of 1gig per day applies - due to data limitations on our satellite service. Email and general internet browsing is fine, but we ask guests to minimise data-intensive use (for example, streaming or downloading video).
It is only a 4 km drive to Bicheno, a well-appointed village with supermarket, bakery, butcher, chemist, hardware, local arts and crafts shops, Tasmanian wine shop, Post Office, and various cafes/restaurants. Cooked and fresh fish are available at a couple of waterfront fish shops. If you fancy a walk when you are in town take a leisurely stroll around the stunning foreshore walk and stop for oysters, fish and chips at the Gulch or Lobster Shack. From Bayview it is a pleasant 20 minute walk through native dune vegetation to the local beach - you might encounter one other person on a busy day! If golf is your thing, take a 7-minute walk to Bicheno’s 9 hole golf course, where you are welcome to play a round as a visitor. Apsley National Park – with its many hiking trails and deep swimming hole – is a 7 km drive away. The famous Wineglass Bay is 35 minutes south by car, while Bay of Fires lies an hour to the north. Try some great Tasmanian wines at one of the many wineries (such as Freycinet, Devil’s Corner, Milton) located within a 30-40 minute drive. The lookout near the Devil’s Corner winery has a breath-taking view of Coles Bay and the Hazards Mountains. For a longer outing, you can drive to Triabunna (1hr15mins) and take the ferry to Maria Island. Given the range of attractions available in the area, we suggest potential guests consider a 3-night booking. That allows for 2 full days of local sight-seeing - north and south - and/or relaxing in the studio space itself. On leaving, many of our 2-night guests have said they wished they had booked an extra day.
  • Fantastic location and a very clean place. Laura and Jon both look after you very well.

    Dylan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Of the many Airbnb places my wife and I have stayed, Laura’s ranks among the top. The kitchen and bathroom were so well-stocked, we didn’t need to ask for anything. The location is convenient to Bicheno and Aspley National Park. It was very quiet and peaceful - we enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the view of the sea and the tree canopy, along with the many birds that flew by. We even had a wallaby visit us! Laura and Jon are great hosts. If we are ever in the Bicheno area again, we will definitely stay at their place.

The surf sounds as the waves crash over the island, sea birds sounds never stop, the noisy penguins at night. Just some the atmosphere at the White House.

Come and relax! Our place is 5-10 min walk to several restaurants, swim/surf/fishing beaches and penguin rookeries. The apartment is light, cosy, peaceful and private. Ideal if your seeking a techno-detox weekend, uninterrupted by TV or internet. We provide cards, games, books or you can just chat. (If you are with Telstra, the mobile phone signal is good, so you CAN use your mobile hotspot to keep in touch!) Take it easy: Use the handy cooktop, microwave, eat out or get takeaway!
The apartment has a master bedroom, separate living area with spare single bed, small couch, table and 2 chairs and a kitchenette (electric cooktop, fridge, kettle, toaster, sandwich toaster, microwave, crockery & cultery). Bathroom has full-length bath, overhead shower and toilet. There is a bush clothesline, bush outdoor furniture and plenty of room for alfresco dining.
The neighbours in the immediate vicinity are permanent residents, mostly retirees, they are active in the community yet appreciate their quiet lifestyle. Bicheno thrives in the tourist season, the population swelling from about 300 to 2000. Beaches are family friendly, with white sands, good surf and great fishing. Sparrow's nest is close to the bushland reserve on the hilltops of Bicheno and we often have visits from wallabies and echidnae.

  • Great place to stay and explore the surrounds. Walking distance to cafe and shops was really convenient and the place was cosy and comfortable. We'd definitely recommend staying here if you're coming to Freycinet. Shops do close early so make sure you've got a food supply if you're arriving late.

  • Had a fantastic stay in Pam and Bruce’s place! They were warm and welcoming and had fantastic local tips! Would highly recommend this place as a base for visiting the east coast of Tasmania!

    Aoife2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Bruce are the perfect hosts; friendly, helpful and attentive to their guests needs. From the warm welcome to the cosy cabin style accommodation and tips on local dining, attractions and sightseeing, we couldn’t have asked for anything more.

    Peter2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Pam’s place is a lovely, fresh & sunny little bungalow. Pam went above & beyond with personal touches - even leaving some slices of fruit cake to enjoy with our cuppa, and eggs & bread for breakfast. The place is well equipped for a comfy short stay & we’d be very happy to recommend it to fellow travellers. The only downside was the poor wifi which we understand is a bit of a problem in the area.

  • The studio overlooks the ocean from its elevated position. We loved the blue/white ocean inspired furnishings & the lovely art works in the studio. The wallabies roaming the front garden were a bonus! the studio is quiet, very clean, and has the essentials for 2 people. The queen bed was very comfortable. We cooked one night, and visited the Gulch for Fish & chips ( and a glass of wine) the next. Pam & Bruce are delightful, helpful hosts who gave us privacy. We would happily stay again.

Still the most popular Airbnb in Bicheno. This is a cosy little Beach Cottage right in the heart of beautiful Bicheno. The cottage is small but very comfy, quirky and original - everything you want from an Airbnb experience. It can sleep 4 people inside and has a beautifully restoredcaravan in back yard for 2-3 more people. We have 2 PENGUINS that live in the back yard, an outdoor fire pit (think Game of Thrones). So close to the beach with BBQs, bikes, surfboards, dive gear.
This beach cottage is the perfect little weekend escape. It is small, but very cute and comfy with nice furnishings and everything you need for your holiday. My cottage is unique because its situated right next to the quiet main road of town, so its really easy access into town and across the road to the main beaches. It can comfortably sleep 4 - 6 people. The cottage has a nice cosy lounge room with a log fire for those chilly nights and a sun bed next to large open windows to fall asleep on as you read a book, separate double bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate single bed, small dining area and large kitchen with stove, oven, microwave. Separate bathroom and toilet. Outside the backdoor is a nice undercover deck area with BBQ and nice deck chairs, a large open backyard with some nice trees and a big stone FIRE pit to drink wine around and stargaze after a hard days walking, diving or surfing (think Game of Thrones). There is also a vintage/retro caravan that is nicely appointed inside with a single and double beds and storage space (perfect for kids to sleep in). At the rear of the yard is a shed with some old push bikes, old diving gear and bodyboards for surfing. The backyard gets beautiful afternoon sun, and is wind protected. The front of the cottage also has a nice new deck with table/chairs and gets really nice morning sun. The property is situated next to the quiet main road of Bicheno, so its a short five minute walk across to the 2 best beaches of Bicheno, Red Bill Beach and Waubs Beach. The house sits across the road from the main penguin walking track and we also have penguins that come and nest under the house and caravan... you will spot them if you're quiet. The house itself is a short walk into town or quick bike ride. Im an avid book collector and there is a wide range of literature in the cottage.
Bicheno is the jewel of Tasmania's East Coast and the gateway to the world famous Freycinet National Park and Wine Glass Bay. A picturesque town famous for its sandy beaches, mild climate and sunny weather. The cleanest blue water you will ever see. A very popular destination for holiday makers and retirees looking for their idyllic sea change. The town has many attractions to entertain and enthuse visitors of all ages and is the best place to base your east coast activities from. It has some of the best scuba diving in Australia - there is a scuba school in town, so you can book in to get your license, or just free dive the many rocky spots - lots of crayfish and abalone to be found. Great for surfing, fishing, bush walking, beaches, wine tasting, chess tasting, penguin watching, golf etc. Bicheno is ideally located, taking under two hours drive from Launceston and Hobart. Weather Bicheno is famous for its mild climate. There are no winter frosts or fogs. The average rainfall is only 700mm per year. The hours of sunlight are amongst the highest in the world and the temperature fluctuates between 12 degrees in winter and 31 degrees in summer. High sunshine hours and favourable winter and summer temperatures are a perfect combination for producers of pip and stone fruit, being the largest producing area of East Coast and the second largest producer of wine grapes. Bicheno has a supermarket, chemist, hotel, bakery, service station, Bendigo bank with a 24 hour ATM machine, numerous motels and restaurants, an extremely well stocked hardware store, a Post Office and a newsagency so all life's necessities are readily available.
  • Cosy little cottage close to everything you need in Bicheno. Lovely large backyard for our child to enjoy and the home was comfortable. Thanks for having us, would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A proper shack- the best kind. Quirky, simple, small and perfect for setting an instantaneous relaxation vibe. Has everything you could need even a thermos with two cups so you can picnic by the waves. A readers paradise. Bassett and his mum, Gail are both delightful and very welcoming on arrival. Couldn’t be better!

Absolute waterfront property, colonial charm on the outside, modern on the inside, five minutes by car from Coles Bay shops, Wifi, TV, washer, stunning sunsets most nights, friendly birdlife, sunny courtyard sheltered from wind, cosy bedrooms, smart new bathroom and eclectic artwork. It's your choice to go out and explore or stay in and relax.
Old Boat Cottage is modelled on a colonial cottage in Richmond. The guest suite is situated to the side and back of the owner's adjoining cottage and has a separate entrance and a view of the water from the living room. It combines the charm of "ye olde" with modern touches. The simple galley kitchen is equipped with a toaster, microwave, small oven, two-plate stove, sandwich maker, rice cooker, ground coffee and French press, black, green and herbal tea, milk, olive oil, soy sauce, salt and pepper. If you are planning to cook souffles on holiday, this is not the kitchen for you, though one guest has cooked a cake in the oven! One bedroom has Balinese bed linen, the other has Laura Ashley; the main bedroom is a double, and the other is small and cosy with the queen bed up against the wall on one side. The artwork has been collected from all corners of the globe. A paradise for keen kayakers (can be hired in Coles Bay), birdwatchers (binoculars provided) and for gourmands with the oyster, scallop and mussel farm just two minutes away, and vineyards twenty minutes away.
Old Boat Cottage is surrounded by trees and there is a lagoon right out the front. This provides great opportunities for solitary walks, peace and privacy. Two wooden chairs on the waterfront provide the perfect place for a glass of Tassie wine at sunset. The shallow bay is fantastic for kayaking and bird watching. Birds seen on a regular basis include fairy wrens, scarlet robins, black swans, pelicans, yellow-tailed black cockatoos, New Holland honeyeaters and kookaburras. Coles Bay shops are just five minutes away by car, and Freycinet National Park entrance is 10 minutes away. Oysters, scallops and mussels can be bought two minutes up the road, and excellent wineries are twenty to thirty minutes away along the road to Swansea. Bicheno is a twenty-five minute car trip.
  • Lovely spot, very clean and comfortable. Right on the inlet, so relaxing with great sunsets and walks at low tide. Fresh fish available at Servo fish & chips. Calamari and Blue eye. Loved Friendly Beaches

  • Suzanne's accommodation was more modern than I had anticipated and all the more comfortable. The view of the bay from the chairs overlooking the beach is really nice and one of the sunsets on our stay was truly memorable. We also enjoyed an evening meal at Big Pete's Eats Bar only 15 minutes walk away down the main Rd and into the golf course. Local beers and wines and as nice a burger and chips as you could want. We had a great stay and would recommend this place for anyone visiting the Coles Bay area.

  • We stayed one night in Bicheno with Mark. The unit is fully self contained and very spacious. Six people would fit in the cabin that two of us shared. It rained heavily and consistently the afternoon we arrived so that was a bit of a downer but we had a comfortable sleep ready to move on the next day. The place is a very short drive from restaurants and shops in Bicheno so it was good in that regard :)

    Matt2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Cabin Park in Bicheno. The location is a few steps from the beach and at dusk we got to see the Blue fairy penguins coming out from the water and making their way to their nests. Staff was super friendly and was able to recommend places to visit and restaurants and cafes nearby. The cabin was super clean and very comfortable. In the park there is also a bbq at the disposal of guests. I would recommend staying at the Cabin Park to anyone.

  • Just WOW, a truely exquisite place to stay just out of Coles bay. Complete isolation, a part from a few cheeky possums knocking on the door hehe! If you are looking for a place to unwind and switch off from the world, this is the place for you! Amazing house and views. We also enjoyed a private yoga session from Helen and Blue Coast Yoga which was divine and the perfect way to start our Saturday before exploring the local surrounds. Thanks for having us!! X

  • Just beautiful. Clean, quiet, amazing design and eco friendly. Sunsets were stunning. Passive solar design means the house is lovely and warm.

    Caroline2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at this rugged and remote location, which was only a short drive to Coles Bay and the national parks in the Freycinet area. Super cosy with the fireplace on an unseasonably cold day (kids' DVDs and games provided really helped that day!), with loads of wildlife roaming around near the house and plenty of spots to enjoy the views. Highly recommended..

    April2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Aplite house is as beautiful in real life as it is in the photos! Friendly beaches is a great spot right right in the heart of Freycinet. We felt right at home!

    Katee2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most stunning house in a wonderfully remote location. The best possible way of getting away from it all. We loved walking along the drive and seeing wallabies, and just being at the house and playing boules and scrabble and reading and looking out at the view. It’s also brilliantly located for Freycinet National Park & walks.

    Laura2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning house in a very private forest location.

    Peter2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Aplite House is absolutely surreal. The sunsets are beautiful as are the afternoons spent soaking up the isolation! The Friendly Beaches are equally as surreal.
