With supreme mountain wilderness views and proximity to Asheville, come for the perfect escape back to nature in the Red Sky Yome! There are gardens at the doorstep and deep forest hiking trails out back, so what are you waiting for? Look no further for a perfect getaway.

The space

The Red Sky Yome has an amazing view of Craggy Dome in Pisgah national forest. Access
to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Folk Arts Center is only 15 minutes drive. Asheville is 25 minutes and Blackmountain is 15 minutes. Multi car parking on gravel drive right next to the Yome, which is set looking West through the woods. From the sound of a trickling creek to the drone of woodpeckers, the feeling out here is peaceful seclusion. Pets are allowed with permission and a small additional fee. Please notify if you intend to bring any pets.

At 16' in diameter, the yome is roomy and very comfortable solo, for couples, even a small group. Full electrical provides plenty of outlets to charge your devices! Wifi & cell reception are limited, however we supply a landline cordless phone. A granite counter-top kitchenette accommodates home cooking or heating and has a kitchen sink with running filtered well water. Also furnished with a mini-fridge and shelving. Beware of wild animals! We have sighted bears and other woodland animals, our dogs chase them off given the opportunity, but we ask that you don't leave food out. There is a small dining table, and just outside a picnic table to hang out in the sun or picnic by the campfire.

There is an outhouse located uphill on the other side of the driveway that is available for guests to use.

The shower is located inside of the yome.

Guest access

The Red Sky Yome is on my family farm, please be respectful of the land. I cultivate shiitake mushrooms and woodland herbs out here so please just leave things where they are. You may not pick anything with-out permission. You may not have good cellphone reception, so there is an emergency land line inside. Explore the winding logging roads that lead up to the ridge top for a great panoramic view in 1 hr hike.

Interaction with guests

I live out here in the octagon farmstead building with my partner Indy and our two dogs. Our house is about 150 feet from the yome and our garden is out front of your view, but we are very friendly and non-obtrusive neighbors. We are mostly quiet and keep to ourselves, and try not to be in the garden when you are around so I absolutely respect my guest space to the best of my ability. Im happy to accommodate you during your stay, show you around, etc. Im generally here to respond to your needs if any!

Other things to note

Please remember there is wildlife, don't leave food out! The amazing temperate rainforest here is habitat for some bugs, be prepared you may encounter a few insects or spiders in the Yome, especially during the Summer.

This is like camping so make sure you are prepared. Do you have a headlamp? A lighter? Your blankets? Toiletries? You will need these things.

The yome is a beautiful, cozy and wonderfully secluded place to stay if you’re visiting Asheville. Nestled in a gorgeous mountain valley with trails to hike right behind you, it’s also an easy 20 min drive to Asheville. The yome itself is equipped with everything you’d need - including hot water and shower, coffee, waffles for breakfast. It’s beautifully decorated and plenty warm with an eclectic heater and wood stove. I️ highly recommend and will for sure be back!

This was by far my favorite airbnb experience to date. The yome was cozy, and secluded with a beautiful view. There is minimal noise, and even though Everest's home is nearby, you wouldn't even know they were there. We made breakfast each morning in the yome, there is a waffle maker & coffee press. Also, there is a griddle so you can make eggs (or whatever you like). There is hot, and I mean hot running water. My favorite part was the shower, I could have stayed in there forever! Everest was very welcoming, but gave us our space throughout our stay. This location is great if you enjoy hiking, there are several great places around the area. One of our favorite hikes was Catawba falls (I would suggest going early before too many people get there, it was really overwhelming at times) You are also very close to Black Mountain, and Asheville. We brought our pup, and were so surprised at the amount of places he was able to go to. There is an app called "Bring Fido" that shows you where your four legged friend is allowed to go. Our favorite restaurant by far (which is very, very close to the yome) is the Native Kitchen and Social Pub. This place had great food, and a really cool outside seating. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to get off the grid a bit, but still enjoy amenities such as running water and electric. There is a compost toilet, but is one of the nicest I have ever seen. This place was so awesome, I even showed pictures of it while we were out and about during our stay.. like "look what we get to go back to!" I agree with others when they say it's so cozy, you just don't want to leave! Thanks for an awesome stay! Your passion for what you do truly shows with this listing.

The yome was set up nicely. Everything you need (maybe bring a skillet). Upon entering Eagle Rock Cove it states private property but Everest phone# is on the sign. NICE

The best vacation spot I have ever been to. So relaxing and peaceful, just minutes from town. Come when you can expect light rain and enjoy falling asleep to nature's noise machine, or see the sunset coming over the mountains from the front door.

We will definitely be back! The setup is extremely cozy and ya can’t beat the morning view out of the front door. Aside from our toothbrushes and toothpaste, anything else we would need was provided for an overnighter. They even have waffles and coffee for breakfast. We usually rough it so this was an absolute treat.

I am an outdoor enthusiast, educator, and small scale farmer, cultivating vegetables, native woodland herbs, and culinary mushrooms. You might also see me downtown Asheville steering people around on the Amazing Pubcycle. My free time is mostly spent developing a demonstration forest garden and farmstead. Think outside the circle and stay proactive; thats my proverb.
